I love how neferiously hugh laurie delivered his lines in that 5x1 scene where house is blackmailing wilson. because the dialogue could’ve been conveyed in a manner that was obviously facetious and unserious (like the way RSL was playing the scene: “You’d jeopardise a patient—? 😒🙄) but he literally chose to go “If it keeps you here😈👹” in the most deadass, diabolical tone. so the result is that we have house sounding like a genuine psychopath as he threatens to let a woman die and then wilson proving he’s an even BIGGER one by responding with, like, mild exasperation at best. 10/10 dynamic no notes
#I know I yap about this 24/7 but I can’t get over it#I feel like the actors being on such wildly different wavelengths when it comes to hilson is what makes it so REAL#barring the true angst of the early seasons#they’re in different genres altogether sometimes. chef’s kiss#house will say something in a way that is honest to god giving dark romance#and then wilson responds with the air of bugs bunny#and that’s the essence of their characters and relationship as a whole#and probably why they’ve been trapped in a game of gay chicken for 20 years#house md#hilson#house/wilson#greg house#gregory house#james wilson#hatecrimes md#does this make grammatical sense? I am running on redbull adderall and 2 hours of sleep so I truly have no clue#and by grammatical sense I mean tumblr-wise of course#is it coherent? should be the question#actually don’t tell me. ion wanna know

Carlos Nightvale and John Doe Malevolent really be out here being the "I was trapped in an alternate reality, away from the man I love, and, unbeknownst to him, experienced time differently, as to make a short period away for him a lifetime for me" character, in entirely different and yet depressing and horrible ways
#Gonna puke#Different genres#And wildly varied circumstances#But good God man#What is it about podcast men?#welcome to night vale#malevolent#malevolent podcast#Play on a theme

I talk a lot about The Soup, but I do love it just on a storytelling level. Food is one of the easiest and most effective things you can include to make your stories feel more real. From a visual standpoint, what's more interesting: a character just sitting there talking to another character? Or, a character talking to another character while they prepare a meal, add a spice, taste it, etc. Even in written form, cooking (or eating) is a fantastic way to expand a scene. It gives you something to describe and gives your characters something to do. In episode 6 in particular, it also serves to humanize Qimir. We go from episode 5 where he's in the Stranger's mask ("what is that?") and killing Jedi left and right to episode 6 where we see him doing... normal things. Taking a bath, making soup, working on a project (fixing his helmet), etc. And in regard to it being a meal he's preparing to share with Osha, you have the idea that food is a universal form of connection. It shows care for another.
#the acolyte#qimir#oshamir#flythepost#like wildly different genre but lockwood & co is another good example of this#we see them take the time to share meals#or on cases they'll have their tea and biscuit breaks#it's a small thing to include that goes a long way

Top 10 BL's you've read for 2024?
the top in this 10 is "off the top of my head", tbh. i also didn't list ten, and these aren't in any particular order. these also aren't my all time favorites (necessarily. i think a couple on this list qualify)
Anotoki Kara Sukidattanda to Omo (and its sequel)
here's the thing: this bl is not good and most people aren't going to like it. it is schlocky, messy, and melodramatic, it's borderline surreal, extremely absurd, relentlessly horny, and it has the pacing of a tiktok edit to an early 100 gecs song set to 150% speed. very prototypical in a lot of ways, one of the most unique bl i've ever read in others. an absolute fever dream. but it's one of those things i read at just the right time, and there's something about it that means a lot to me. it's first so you understand how esoteric my taste gets right off the bat and have 0 expectations for anything else i put on this list. also some cws for this one so like you can dm me if you want to know.
Reunion (by 2coin and deulsum)
something you need to know about me is i really love manhwa that people think is boring and by god reunion is that bitch. long-winded, gently achy character study with identity porn. it's shockingly lowkey, grounded, and comforting to read for it's initial premise... that being "poor guy with terminally ill mother poses as the dead grandchild of a rich terminally ill old dude's nanny in order to pay for his mom's treatment and his brother's schooling and oh no there's this mean chaebol grandson who is obsessed with him except it's 7 years later and the chaebol grandson has amnesia and gives his boss a briefcase of cash to buy him" you'll see what i mean when you read it, it's really actually good. you'll like it if you like quiet slowburns.
Eat Your Heart Out (by Samak Satang and AI_tuner)
do you like scalies? do you like amazing worldbuilding? do you like plotlines about social class and eugenics? do you like yandere older brothers? do you like aggressive bottoms who are slutty and insufferable? do you like 2 and a half foot long dicks? boy do i have a one of a kind manhwa for you. eat your heart out was an unexpected delight right from the start due to it's amazing art and character design. but then i got to know helm and i fell deeply, deeply in love. he is just so fucking annoying and borderline unlikeable at times in a way that makes him an amazing protagonist. crazy about this one, a new favorite for sure. also i am not joking about dick size. you are reading "two and a half foot long dick" and thinking to yourself "surely, danny is exaggerating" i am not exaggerating. please pray for helm. he is not making it out alive.
Tameshi ni Komando Itte mita
if you like domsubverse you probably won't like this domsubverse. if you don't like domsubverse im also not sure if you'll like this. really, to enjoy this you should have a neutral opinion on domsubverse and a positive opinion on kissing the homies goodnight. dom getting dommed. sweet, bunny-soft, funny, and i just really love the relationship between the two leads.
90 Days for the Delicacy
phew, look at those two whole normal recommendations! time for bdsm and gore! i can't really tell you anything about the plot of this one without spoiling it. im sorry, i hate when people do that to me, too. if you know what my favorite manga are: this is in a similar genre.
Nekura to Gyaru Otoko
a simple manga about an outgoing gyaru boy, his childhood friend who has spent his life taking up as little space as possible, and the quiet, painful conflict that causes. one of the first manga i read this year that made a lasting impression on me. i love the art, i love the characters, i love the quiet moments in the story, i love it's bluntness, i love it's weight and temperature and how it tastes when i read it. a must-read for chronic doormats and those who would rather die than burden people they love, imo.
One Summer Day (by ker)
grim reaper fucks up a reaping reaaaal bad and has to babysit his charge until the paperwork comes in. unfortunately being still-alive when you're not supposed to be comes with some... side effects. such as becoming a huge murderslut. good news though! the cure for undead murderslutism is in fact nasty sloppy bareback marathon sex. this is by the same author+artist as sign and i absolutely love it. the characters are likeable and you can feel that this one is going to suckerpunch you with pain between the multi-hour fuckfests.
Spectrophilia
a young man is haunted by his past... literally. and, uh, hornily. after attending the funeral of his highschool bully/situationship/best friend the protagonist finds himself plagued by raunchy "dreams", the star of which being his dead friend. i think i started this in 2023 and i don't care you should read spectrophilia. the art style is really unique and im crazy about it. slow, quiet, a hint of yandere. don't ask me why two entries on this list feature dead people.
OΣG!!! = Oh My God
lets round this out with a banger i fucking love oh my god, it's great, it's gore-camp, it's playfully dark, and the characters are fun! it's a yandere serial killer/salaryman romance wrapped up in an amazing art style and slutty bloodsplatter. this one's light, easy, fun, and exactly what it's trying to be. i adore it.
#there was one i excluded from this list bc i was like. i don't want to recommend this willy-nilly actually. this is dark as fuck.#not fandom#im realizing i could make a full top 10 list of stalker bl in different genres.#(lists 10 bl of wildly different genres tones and themes) always keep them guessing#if you the first one on this list i need you to know that you need to treat it like getting caught in undercurrent#you need to go wuhoh this is wild. i think im drowning#and like go limp into it#you just need to fucking go with it#you need to just let it happen and go ''okay''#you need to accept it for what it is and revel in absurdity and art that tries only to be deeply outrageously itself

i myself have obsessed over a taylor swift album from time to time and i KNOW she has the potential to write great lyrics she's done it before but i really don't get the urge to paint her as the ultimate lyricist of our lifetimes when hozier is literally right there
#even folklore and evermore have nothing in comparison to wasteland baby#to say nothing of unreal unearth. and its not even that folklorevermore are BAD theyre phenomenal in tons of aspects#she's just. she is not the best in the industry#and i know i know these are wildly different genres / tones / styles of music but speaking#purely in terms of raw lyricism and talent and craft. artistic vision. you know who is better#mine#music#taylor swift#hozier

i'm honestly so particular about how i organize my manga collection, like. yuri has to stay together on one bookshelf. same with yaoi. queer lit™ needs to stay together (yes this IS different from yuri/yaoi to me). shoujo needs to be sorted by which series are most nostalgic AND which series are similar in genre. battle shounen CAN NOT share a shelf with shounen romcoms or i will EXPLODE
#manga#anime#anime and manga#shoujo#shounen#don't get me STARTED on series by the same author that are wildly different in scope and genre!!#looking at YOU otomen and requiem of the rose king by aya kanno.

Okay! Okay, already!!! I'm reading Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. I'm listening to all the recommendations from so many different book bloggers/booktubers! I don't remember the last time I picked up a high school romance?!?!?
#Heartstopper#Alice Oseman#comics#books#book photography#current reading#Not out of void but out of chaos#I feel like i should clarify its less the age of the characters and more the literal school setting#and the fact that its contemporary and non fantasy#not my normal genre at all#but so many different readers with wildly different tastes seem to be saying good things so lets go!

i love how ive + their team constantly evolve to explore various trends and genres while still holding on to their established musical identity
#+#like even just in the past year of TTs#kitsch > i am > either way > off the record > baddie > heya > accendio#are all wildly different songs#but they all sound like ive songs and build up their identity instead of fracturing it#it’s really so cool to see their take on different sounds / concepts bc they fit that genre while still being very ive#like kitsch / baddie leaning more girl crush + noisy while still maintaining their signature elegant + twinkly sound#and reset.. idk if it qualifies as true dnb but it’s def their take on the easy listening trend#but it’s soooo them#especially that moment in the bridge that’s like a callback to cherish <3#anyway i stand firmly by the fact that ive has never missed 🤍#and their creative direction just keeps improving the mv for heya was insane#super excited to see what they’re doing for accendio <3

Not sure what to call this genre of musical creator that wears big hats and covers their face while singing out in the desert, but my working title is "something is wrong with the desert" and I want more of it
(In order - Witchz, Red Leather, and Orville Peck)
#witchz#orville peck#red leather#I want to go to the desert where it's mandatory to be at least a little gnc and cover your face with a fancy fringe#:( somebody take me there#I was also gonna say that they all share 'twangy guitar music' but witchz is a decidedly WILDLY different genre of music so big shrug#also pls listen to DEATHWISH and The Magick they're both so good

GOD sometimes it genuinely irks me that stories like Orpheus and Eurydice or even Adam and Eve are criticized under a purely logical and heartless eye. "Why did Orpheus turn around" because he loved her. "Why did Adam eat the fruit" because he loved her. They both chose love over God. And they were punished for it and eternally cemented as fools.
Do you really think that Adam doesn't know what the one goddamn thing he's not allowed to eat LOOKS like? Do you really think that Orpheus would feel better if he hadn't turned around only to find Eurydice's cries for him were real? These stories are about pure love. They're about being punished for the sin of a love that conquers all else. They're both about forsaking God(s) to that end.
TLDR: If a God is going to forsake you for love than they are not a loving God. And they are directly to blame.
#it's controversial thoughts like this that got me time outs in empty dark rooms in primary school!#jokes on them I'm neurodivergent I liked being left alone like that#tw: religion#just in case#not marvel related#good news for the gays tho#diversity win! God hates EVERYONE! including the straight couples!#anyway this is a wildly different genre of post than I normally make but I've literally been bugging myself to make it for *years*#I could go on to talk about the blatant disrespect these stories give Eve and Eurydice#(ahem their importance in the stories boil down to women = bad women = weak women = stupid women = evil seductress)#but there's so many posts like that already I'm sure so I just wanted to shout out my boys Adam and Orpheus#who just love their wives. so goddamn much.

was listening to an interview fall out boy did for their new album, and one of the things they said really struck a chord with me, they were saying how they would never make an throwback album because it would just sound as dudes that now have swimming pools making a throwback album. and it made me think (because my brain inevitably always ends up there) about how much people were complaining about svt's new sound, about how they should do songs like adore u again, like boom boom again, like pretty u again. it made me think just how odd it would be for groups that are in a completely different points in their lives to go back to their initial sound just because some people want a throwback, when also a throwback varies so much for everyone because everyone tunes in at different times, like for me a fob throwback would literally be 15 years ago but for some it could just be 5. point is, i guess, that sometimes people are too caught up in the what it was, specially sound wise, that they would rather have a group sound stagnant and unoriginal rather than letting them rediscover their love for music and what they do and why do they do it
#if anyone reads this i'm giving you a forehead kiss#it was a very interesting interview to listen to even if i did not really like the host#another thing that they said that i appreciated a lot was that they were never trying to sound like they did in a sense#they were never trying to replicate whatever was it that it worked for their last record#but rather (at least patrick) was constantly thinking this one could be the last so might as well go all out#might as well try all these things that i might not get to try#and i understand that the genres and the industries are wildly different#but that's also something that i feel wz is trying to do as well#giving himself the space to explore and find things and be able to try new things#because he can and he wants#b.txt#i think. i could go on kinda forever with that point because for me it's so so interesting
