So yesterday RIOT OFFICIALLY RELEASED JAYCE'S ARCANE LEGENDARY SKIN and this is a post about it + speculation. please mind possible spoilers but there is a lot of jayvik potential to chew on

In his animations, he seems to have reality warping powers and some control over the arcane. NOTABLY his hammer looks like viktor's cane. When he puts down one of his abilities the VFX gives him a multiple-body ghost effect. possibly time warping? also his dance emote is jayce pole dancing #queen

In the wild rift version, the insides of his chest are glowing blue like hextech. what the hell is that about. hes also wearing a glove like viktor's on his hexcorized hand

CONCLUSION: JAYVIK 1 VS 1 GAY WIZARD NERDS FIGHTING???

All the audio from this legendary skin is retained due to spoilers, but its been confirmed that Orkidian wrote the interactions and they have done an homoerotic art murder pair storyline with hwei/jhin, as well as written Varus' update, the first gay league male champ made out of two partners fused into one being. um make of that what you will. Viktor is getting his own legendary after the show airs and it might be by the same writer.

Runeterra Multiverse PART 1

In Arcane we are introduced to two alternative timelines in episode 2x7, the worst timeline and the the best timeline, but this isn't a new concept to Riot, their business model is selling skins of their Champions, usually by giving them new outfits and lore in an alternative Universe.

Today I want to introduce you to some of those interesting Universes, who knows, maybe they even scratch a creative itch and you are inspired to create a fanwork or make headcanons ;).

It's nice to see some universes that aren't extremly traumatic like arcane...

1. VALORAN TOWN

Valoran Town is a modern au of the Runeterra Universe, the chinese branch of Riot released a mini series last year that follows Lux, a rich young girl, as she moves to Valoran Town to escape her overbearing brother, Garen. She becomes the roomate of her best friend Jinx and various other Champions like Ezrael and Miss Fortune.

There is even an Ekko cameo in one of the episodes! It's a fun watch and has a very short runetime, I highly recommend it if you want to see a happy Jinx. No prior League knowledge is needed as it's a modern au. I noticed some Arcane references in the background as well!

2. STAR GUARDIAN AU

Star Guardian is another modern au of the Runeterra Universe, this time set in Valoran City. It follows a group of highschoolers as they become cosmic protectors and fight enemies that threaten their Universe. Yes, this is quite literally a magical girl au. I love it so much.

In case you were wondering, yes, there is a magicial girl Jinx!

3. K/DA

Likely the most well known League AU, so well known in fact, that a lot of people don't even realize it's related to League. K/DA is a virtual band and kpop AU of several League characters.

4. ODYSSEY AU

Odyssey is an AU set in space. It kind of gives me Guardians of the Galaxy vibes. Various groups are in pursuit of ora—a mysterious golden essence that serves as the lifeblood of all civilization, and promises untold power to those who can wield it for themselves. One Crew that will be especially interesting for us Arcane viewers, is the Morning Star Crew, a ragtag group that is also searching for Ora. There is a familiar face on the crew, their pilot, Jinx.

5. <3 AU

The <3 AU is an alternative Universe of Caitvi, Cait is part of the Heartthrob Clique and Vi is part of the Heartache Clan. The two groups are opposites of eachother, but the two students seem to have taken a liking to eachother. In a mini game named Cupcakes 4 Heartaches Cait bakes her secret Cupcake recipe with the help of Vi.

They even wrote letters adressed at eachother:

6. PULSEFIRE

Pulsefire is set in a dystopian future, after discovering time travel several champions are chased by chrono-enforcers through time and space and take their technology with them. There is an alternative version of Cait who is such a chrono-law enforcer, she is feared in all sorts of eras. Ekko is one of the fugitives, in a companion story he crashes in the hide-out of his (boy)friend Ezrael. (yeah, their relationship is censored sadly. If you pick up vibes while reading this story, it was on purpose)

Question if you could rework Talon how would you do it? Like, if you have complete and total control of the character, can change things as far as the beginning or just progress his story. You can do whatever.

What would you do?

OKAY so i actually typed out a long ass response but then it got deleted so this makes me very sad faklsdjkljsfd but im gonna try and repeat myself. Disclaimer ofc this is going to be very long and its also just my personal opinion. No hate if anyone’s ideal talon is different.

So i can divide the changes i would make into like, 3 categories.

Core design

I’ll go ahead and put it below the cut bc i know its gonna be so long (sob)

CORE DESIGN:

Okay im pretty sure i’ve said smth similar before but i cant remember. Basically i think talon’s core design fantasy conflicts with his design to an egregious degree. Riot’s goal is supposed to be to make the champ design fit the fantasy, but we’re supposed to believe he’s this cutthroat, efficient, STEALTHY assassin, who can kill with no mercy and climb all over the map and yet he’s got this jingle-jangle cape and also a hokey, non-retractable armblade. (this pisses me off bc zed has a retractable blade. So they DO exist.) also wild rift pissed me off bc when they redid their design of him they didn’t fix any of the issues and in fact made the armblade worse. How is he supposed to climb? It fundamentally conflicts with what he’s supposed to be. Get rid of both of them both. banished.

Granted, both of these things make his design more unique, but i dont think talon needs them. In fact their existence makes his own thematic design worse, as someone who’s supposed to blend in, supposed to hide in a crowd and be a nobody. He’s supposed to have a generic design. Maybe they can fuck with his cape a lil bit, but he doesn’t need to have this super notable look to him. Look at akshan. He’s just a shirtless dude (in a repurposed sol uniform) but he wears it well fr. 

As a side note: talon’s design in ‘the name of the blade’ is pretty good as a starting off point but it still has the stupid cape.

To be clear they will never change this i think. Talon’s armblade and cape are too ingrained in his old design so they’ll never be fixed, and this problem with it not matching his fantasy will only get worse over time.

Also i think base leblanc also looks ridiculous and is in the same boat.

IN GAME:

A new model + animations ofc! Hood toggle, + extra animation variants when vaulting over stuff. (over thin walls, thick walls, and side hops.) an idle knife flip. (oh and new splasharts ofc.) a new voice!! My current problem with the voice is that imo he sounds too old and deep, and also he suffers from being old (i hc him as between 23-25) and having few lines. Tbh i think talon would rock a raspy transmasc voice, or at least a raspy voice, prone to cracking bc he’s not super talkative.

random voice line ideas

New interactions with katarina, swain prolly, sett (as a treat) and ezreal. etc.

New joke response: “i dont get it” or “you talk too much.”

New taunt response: “be quiet.”

“Leave me alone” or “you’re annoying” after killing someone.

“I can climb that” when seeing sett or other eligible champs, both masc and fem. bisexual energy.

Lots of vocalizations. “Hah,” hrmphs, occasional “hm.”

A focus on shorter, more straightforward sentences as opposed to long wordy ones.

he will trigger more voicelines when by himself (for eg: in the jg) as opposed to around other champions. (yes im dreaming big.)

as an 'away from people or in the jg' voiceline: whistling. not like a tune or anything, just a few notes.

LORE:

Okay this is the really big one. I’m just gonna go all over the place.

Step 1: make him aro. MAKE HIM ARO. it doesn't need to be a big reveal or anything. Actually it’d be better if all of talon’s lore was lowkey. It can just be smth mentioned or implied on the side, but canon nonetheless. I hc him as bi too but the aro is way more important to me. WHILE WE'RE AT IT. riot please release an aromantic pride icon pls. every year i foolishly hope.

Step 2: i’d also make him trans. This isn’t a hard need for me but it makes his story/character stronger. Also i think its great to have open lgbt rep but i would like rep for people who are stealth too. Talon would be that. He likes to blend in, he likes to be unknown and invisible, he doesn’t want too much attention and he wants to be perfect. It’s pretty on the nose. I know people would be mad bc like, noo he wasn’t trans before, but i just dont care. My ideal talon is trans or at least gnc/nb-coded if amab. Also while we’re at it i’d also either give him autism with my autism ray-gun, or i’d just make him autism-coded. It just fits him. I think he realistically has anxiety and prolly some other personality disorder, if not a touch of tism.

Step 3: make the timeline of events around when he was adopted all the way to the kat comic more definite. Like how old was he when he was ‘adopted?’ (imo at least 13 but i can explain in a not already super long post pfpfpf). Retcon some of the kat comic. I think the most annoying part of it is how much he talks. I think riot thinks he’s like, a boring character, but he’s not. He’s just a NUANCED character. There are many different assassins in league that fit specific niches. (zed is evil shadow ninja assassin, akali is rogue wildcard assassin, pyke is the crazed executioner, yone is righteous, fizz is silly, katarina is proud and showy.) talon is already supposed to fit the most typical ‘assassin niche.’ like assassins creeds. Just let him be that. You don’t have to make him talk a ton, just amplify what’s already there. He’s a perfectionist, he does things in the most efficient way, he’s got layers and abandonment issues, and i think something that’s overlooked by riot is how he’s prolly a victim of manipulation and abuse. In fact i’d make that very clear, even by revealing that talon can’t read. That would already mean smth is up.

In terms of the kat comic: Cut out the whole part where talon monologues like an idiot at the end. While we’re at it, have kat kill the king, not that other guy. I think its a more interesting tie in and adds more character conflict. I actually hate how ‘good’ katarina was in the comic like she can afford to have more awfulness and then visibly grow out of it. Idc. continuing, i’d make it so that talon really thought marcus left, and then marcus returns just before the kat comic events and manipulates talon into trying to kill her. Idk this makes so much more sense to me i dont know why they had talon know about it the whole time, as if it didn’t kill his entire story that we’d been following for years. Like it was such an easy change to still respect what story he already had??? IT MAKES ME MAD. It also allows talon to have more obvious conflict with killing kat, bc their sibling connection improves in marcus' absence.

ALSO i like his scar in the kat comic but i’d like it differently instead of straight down. I feel like eye scars are pretty like, they all look the same yk. Can we vary it up or maybe give him a few more. He’s so pretty in the kat comic but he deserves more scars.

Also, in his high noon story i would not have fucking talon dish out the expository dialogue again. I love that story but it makes me mad how he just word vomits this whole story. Just put that shit at the beginning and leave him out of it. Or maybe find some way to explain that doesn’t involve clumsy paragraphs of expository dialogue. Sorry, no hate to the author but i think a character reciting a whole fable to someone is amateurish, lazy, and a disservice to his character. I would also make him and Yone the protagonists of high noon gothic as an au. Ive been meaning to make a post about it but they parallel each other very nicely. A demon going holy and a good man going hellish.

If i could i would legit canon-ship him with sett or with akshan. But thats ofc very indulgent and relies on setup.

uhhh extra bits that im thinking of:

retcon the going to shurima after failing to kill kat bit. i want him to fester. i would rather him be totally lost for a second and observe the wreckage of his lost family.

imo he never meets cass or soreana, because he enters the family in his teens when they're both already in shurima.

i think a really cool way to deliver talon's lore would be via other champ lore that happens to have him in it. with a consistent voice you'd be able to piece him together while still maintaining the theme of him being on the outside, lowkey.

OH I'D CHANGE HIS ICON BTW. his character icon doesn't look like him. dear god. dark brown hair pls, amber eyes. let it be so.

if i could i would strengthen the anarchistic themes he has going on in his skin lines. yeah let him go apeshit why not. let him be a thorn. let him break apart.

im pretty sure he's canonically short (looked the same size as kat in the comic) but if not. he is now. sorry bud.

oh as a final note. right now his parents are just Gone. but i would make sure that they abandoned him. its the strongest way to cause him to attach to marcus.

who's who in the dragon age au?????

Bear with, this might get long, so I’ll try and break it down by game.

Dragon Age: Origins

Chrissy is the Warden / the Hero of Ferelden, recruited by senior Grey Warden Ser Robert Buckley. I haven’t yet decided her class. Jason had been one of the recruits too but he either didn’t survive the Joining or was killed when trying to back out of it.

Jeff is the other Grey Warden, essentially filling Alistair’s role. Haven’t yet decided whether to incorporate more of Alistair’s plot for him yet! He’s a warrior.

Eddie and Wayne live in the Wilds. Eddie fills Morrigan’s role initially, with Wayne able to save Chrissy and Jeff at Ostagar—not as Flemeth, but as a passerby. Eddie’s a mage!

Nancy fills Leliana’s role. She’s a former chantry sister and a bard. She and Mike are fleeing from Lothering when they meet the trio. Nancy’s a rogue, Mike is a warrior.

Freak joins them at Redcliffe, where Jeff was raised. I’m thinking Freak is a warrior.

Gareth is a Crow (assassin) sent by Brenner to take out Chrissy. Nancy takes him out with ease and he offers to join them on their journey. He’s a rogue.

Barb also lived in Lothering, but she died in the darkspawn attack. She’d been a chantry sister same as Nancy.

Chrissy makes the ultimate sacrifice in order to end the Blight, leaving Jeff as the only Ferelden Grey Warden. He’s the one who goes to find the cure. The group separate after Chrissy’s death, which brings us to:

Dragon Age 2

Steve and Robin are both simultaneously Varric and Hawke. Steve finds his passion in storytelling and writes about their adventures and Robin ends up with the title Champion of Kirkwall. Steve’s the one with the family estate, Robin’s the one with the blood connection to seal away Henry Creel.

Vickie fills the role of the surviving twin, having escaped Lothering with Robin back when the Blight broke out. She contracts the Taint during the Deep Roads expedition and is saved by Jeff and recruited to be a Grey Warden.

Tommy and Carol fill Bartrand’s role, being behind the Deep Roads expedition. Tommy finds the lyrium idol and it eventually drives him mad, which prompts Carol to seek Steve and Robin out years later (after she and Tommy had abandoned them in the Deep Roads prior).

The Byers run the Darktown clinic. Will’s the apostate healer, with Jonathan and Joyce running the clinic with him and keeping him secret.

Max stole a Qunari relic and is trapped in Kirkwall, just like Isabela.

Lucas and Erica are two rogues who live in Kirkwall, friends with the Byers. Dustin’s also friends with them and has far too much of an interest in runes and magic despite not being a mage.

El’s a former circle mage, now apostate, who escaped the circle with the help of a Templar named Benny. Lucas, Erica, Dustin and El imprint on Steve and Robin like ducklings; I think they’d be getting into trouble in the city and Steve & Robin would intervene once and they’d immediately latch on.

Billy would be Meredith I think, I haven’t thought too much about it. I also don’t have anyone specifically behind the chantry incident at the end of the game yet.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Nancy’s a nightingale now, still filling Leliana’s role.

Eddie’s the Inquisitor rather than Morrigan, having been at the wrong place at the wrong time. He has the rift anchor in his hand.

Steve, Dustin, Lucas, Erica, Max, El, Jonathan and Joyce come to Skyhold once Skyhold is established. Steve claims to have no clue of Robin’s whereabouts, intending to keep her safe.

Hopper I think would have Cullen’s role, being a templar and an advisor. The other advisors are Mr Clarke, Nancy and Murray.

Briefly mentioned prior, I’ve got Henry Creel/Vecna as Corypheus. Robin’s father (Ser Robert Buckley) sealed him away years ago and Steve & Robin accidentally unleashed him while ironically trying to prevent his release.

Argyle is the potions master. I think Jonathan would become the stable master.

Vickie reappears as the Grey Warden contact for Here Lies the Abyss.

They don’t all fit the characters 1:1, more their roles in the plot, and as you can tell there’s a lot of overall changes! It’s SO fun though I’m having a blast

Hm? Oh, sure! First though I'd like to sincerely apologize about the N you know disappearing. I really don't know how or why something like this would happen... I hope it'll all be sorted out soon. Blake assures me it will in a day or so, so I trust them.

Anyways, I'm guessing you're asking cause you're curious of how different my life is from the N of this world, so I guess while I wait to get sent back home I can indulge you!

Let me see... well, originally I grew up in a forest with a family of wild Pokemon that raised me and my brother Nox. Not sure whatever happened to my biological parents or why they left me there, but I was pretty happy nonetheless. Then one day, Alder found me and took me in as his own. I trained under him for most of my life, and he taught me a lot about the relationship unity between people and Pokemon. But he also always told me about there being hardships, too. People who used Pokemon as tools, them getting into fights because they couldn't understand each other... but he told me it didn't shine a candle to the incredible things the two could accomplish when they worked together.

I've always had the rare ability to hear the voices of Pokemon. Not just hear what they're saying, but sense what they're feeling in their hearts, too. I thought that with that ability, I could be a sort of "bridge" between us. Help there be less suffering in the world for both. I started out pretty small, just by helping people who were having difficulties training their Pokemon reach a common ground and give them tips on how they could improve and work together more. But then... this group called Team Plasma sprouted up, claiming they wanted to "liberate" Pokemon from people. They were lead by a man named "Ghetsis", and basically he was trying to awaken the two legendary dragons to achieve that.

Hearing about this, I decided to set out on a journey of my own to try and stop him. I took on the gyms along the way, made a lot of new friends, and upon reaching Castelia City I found out Team Plasma had invaded a small island called Liberty Garden. I sailed there, and that's where I found them trying to steal a Pokemon called Victini. Long story short... Victini ended up joining my party! Throughout my journey I had to keep it secret, though, with it being a Mythical and whatnot...

At one point I discovered Plasma had darker intents. Ghetsis was plotting to use the two Legedary Dragons in order to take control of Unova and force humans and Pokemon to separate. I believe he found the stones and made his two daughters become their chosens... what were they called? I'm not good with names... I think they were Conco-

...oh. Concordia and Anthea.

...Ah- anyways, Victini and I managed to defeat them. I guess in reality Ghetsis was only using them for power and didn't actually care about "saving" Pokemon, so once they realized that they left with their respective dragons. I haven't heard from either of them since... I hope they're both doing alright. I'm not sure if they stayed together or went their own separate ways.

Following that I challenged my dad at the Pokemon League and managed to win the champion title. These days I mostly just fulfill my duties, and continue to help mend the rifts between people and Pokemon where I can. My dream's to see a world where we no longer have to worry about people like Ghetsis anymore. Where everyone is collectively striving for a better future, together. I don't know if I'll see something like that in my lifetime, but at the very least? I want to leave the world in a better state than I found it.

So... yeah! I think that about catches you up. To be honest I'm struggling to grasp what Blake's been telling me about the me from this timeline. I was Ghetsis' son and the chosen of Zekrom?

I made this blog because I’m utterly obsessed with League, Valoran Town & Arcane right now, so I wanted a place to yap about it!

If you couldn’t tell, my favorite champion is Jinx (even though I rarely play her lol). I’m also completely obsessed with Ezreal and Xayah!! My favorite Arcane characters are Jinx, Sevika and Isha.

I also really like KDA and Heartsteel. Really just anything League I’m really interested in!

I originally found out about League in 2020 because I saw a minecraft animation of Pop/Stars, which then lead me to downloading Wild Rift, which got me into Arcane, which would lead me to redownloading League 3 years after I stopped playing when season 2 came out. I can never escape this stupid game…

Anyways! My DNI list includes proshippers, anti-LGBTQ+, racists sexists etc. Just the general DNI against weirdos and bigots.

Champion/Lilt has even more social quirks beyond confusion over Hylians and Savarran Elves. He ends up calling the Rito “the Avanai” (Bird people in his world). He’ll express surprise at the fact Wind and Wild *haven’t* been chased down by them just for having pointy ears (Long story but races of the Glacial Rift *hate* elves). He’ll look surprised if he hears the word “Vai” because that’s the name of one of his sons.

The absolute ironic confusion must be feeling whenever Wild or Wind just casually interact with the Rito and get chased off. He'd be even more confuse upon how the term Vai is used. Any Gerudo or those knowledgeable on Gerudo terms would just look at Champion like he's crazy.

Someone help the poor boy.

Hello Hi allow me to introduce you to Aolanita, my sweet bean of a Kryptis who for the longest time didn't realize she was a Kryptis

Aolanita, shortened to Nita by her friends, looks for all intents and purposes like your average sylvari necromancer! Well, as average as the chick lugging around half a corpse and followed by the other half can be.

This is Legs. We love Legs! Legs' other half is grumpy and doesn't like to talk to Nita, but boy howdy that doesn't stop her in the least!!

I have a LOT for Nita's story bc I just kinda started typing and it got away from me so I'm gonna put it under the cut for dash reasons but I hope you're ready for a good long yap.

The short version is: Nita was a Kryptis who, by complete accident, wandered into the Dream of a young sylvari and sort of.. got stuck? And now, as far as she's concerned for most of her life, she IS said sylvari. Until rifts start opening up all over Tyria and why does the world on the other side feel so... familiar?

Now, Nita always knew she was a bit off when she Awakened in the Grove. A bit strange, a little well.... different. But she tried to not let it bother her, or let all the sylvari mentors who were concerned that she couldn't remember her Dream clearly bother her! She had a world to explore, after all!!

Nita joins the Pale Reavers with Tegwen and Carys in the campaign against Zhaitan, and during her time with the Reavers decides that a warrior named Tarieos is in dire need of friends, and sort of latches onto him and won't let go. Tarieos introduces her to Laranthir of the Wild, and then immediately regrets it because Laranthir and Nita get along SWIMMINGLY and well now there is two optimists in their little team and only one pessimist.

Things get a little odd for Nita during the Maguuma arc, understandably, when she... doesn't hear Mordremoth. I mean, she hears him, sort of, but it is so distant and faint, like music playing from a room down the hall. Not the pounding, screaming, rend your mind in two sort of sensation her fellow Reavers are experiencing. Uncertain of what it means, and unwilling to put her friends in danger by what it COULD mean - is she already a mordrem? is that why her connection to the dream is so faint? what makes her so different, and what if it can spread to the others? make them weaker? no, absolutely not- Aolanita disappears into the jungle. And, in true Nita fashion, makes a new friend.

This new friend is a Mordrem Commander/Champion by the name of Lanata, a fierce insect-like woman with vicious blades and an even more vicious attitude. Nita thinks she just needs a hug and.. maybe a necromancer, because Lanata is wilting, and it only gets worse when Mordremoth falls.

Now this should have been Nita's third clue that she wasn't quite as sylvari as she thought, because no normal sylvari necromancer, even a well trained one, should have had the power to keep a Dragon Champion alive and in fairly good health, all things considered, but Nita just chalked it up to the love she had for her friend and didn't dedicate more thought to it than that. To a degree, she was right! It was the emotions that both Nita and Lanata felt that created sort of a feedback loop into Nita's latent powers that helped her cover that extra UMPH she needed to take care of her friend.

This is all before Nita discovers what she really is, mind you.

So when a Rift to Nayos opens up in the jungle and DRAGS Nita and Lanata into it, you can imagine how absolutely jarring it is, to both of them, to not only suddenly be in a new and bizarre place, where the very air in your lungs is different but... for this place to feel like home to Aolanita, in a way she really can't put into words.

Fortunately, they're found by Ramses and Arina, and ushered to the makeshift camp for the Astral Ward. And hopefully, Ramses can help Nita figure who she is, what she is, and where that leaves her in the grand scheme of things.

Concept: The reader who gets thrown into Hisui can actually still use apps on their Arcphone, and have internet. But only somewhat. They actually can’t type anything. They can’t posts tweets, make any text posts, send any texts, nothing. However, they find a loophole. They can make and send videos, and take pictures. Then they get the idea to stream being in Hisui. It technically works! They don’t have to type anything, just go live and go from there! Bonus points if they were like, a popular streamer/youtuber, or even the Sinnoh Champion before being yeeted to Hisui.

Like, imagine if you’re a popular face in your country and just,,, disappeared for at least a whole week. Literally nothing to show what happened to you, or how you even left. No clothes packed, car still in the lot, all identification still on you table, and even your pokemon are still on the nightstand next to you bed, safe in their pokeballs! The only thing gone is your phone, but it must be broken or turned off, because the phone company and police can’t track it. Some people wonder if you had been kidnapped, or Arceus forbid, something worse. But the detectives can only scratch their head. The doors were still locked, and there were no signs of forced entry, or any at all for that fact. Not to mention the pokemon would have broke out of their pokeballs if they had sensed their owner’s distress. You were just.... Gone. Until a week later. Imagine a week later, people are beginning to lose hope about you, all trails having gone cold. Until later that evening. People get a notification about a streamer going live. It’s the person who disappeared. People rush to the stream to see what the hell is going on, and maybe get some answers. Maybe an explanation at best! Or at worst, someone hacking your account.... Everyone joins, only to see.... You...? You’re dressed in odd clothing, but it’s unmistakably you. You’re going off, talking about how you got dumped in ancient Sinnoh or something, and have been told by god itself to find all pokemon in said ancient Sinnoh. At first, people think you’re crazy, until they notice some familiar landmarks. And all the wild pokemon. Especially the GIANT wild pokemon. You claim Arceus won’t let you make text posts or regular tweets, and won’t let you receive normal messages, so you’re just,, stuck making streams and videos. You laugh how that’s arguably worse than typing anything else, but hey, you’re not a god. How are you supposed to know how one thinks? People are suspicious at first, but it becomes horrifyingly clear that you aren’t joking, and that you are somehow stuck in the past, still able to livestream and make videos. You jokingly talk about the people you meet, and your job for the day/week. You often stream yourself hunting down pokemon, and writing down stuff in your pokedex. If you still have access to the chat, you gladly answer any questions you get, and happily get all help in filling out the pokedex. If not, I’d think it’d be amusing if people could still talk through donations, the TTS voice talking out to you in the wild. Even funnier since you don’t even get the money being sent to you. “it’s not so bad!” You muse to the phone quietly, back striking a Pikachu with a pokeball, and catching it instantly. “I just wish that the people would stop acting like I’m gonna grow four extra arms and bite their heads off.” You tend to use the streams to vent a bit as well, seeing as they are the only sense of familiarity you have here in Hisui. So when people find out you apparently fell from a space and time rift in the sky, they are rightly horrified. With all of this going on, your situation gets international attention. People from across the globe are wondering what the hell is going on. Champions, professors, gym leaders, you name it. You have a lot of people now watching your streams. It’s gets even weirder when you open up stream on day, both giddy and almost gobsmacked. “Hey guys! So uh- okay.” You start off, almost scatterbrained. “So like, I have to go quell this one pokemon, Lord Electrode, I think? Whatever- ANYWAY you guys will not believe who I found.” You say, ignoring the questions about ‘Lord Electrode’. “Turns out, okay- like, I didn’t keep up with a lot of international news before ending up here, right? But I did hear about a few things. Anyway, this is important. Wasn’t there like, this subway guy that went missing a few years ago? Like, in Unova?” You managed to ask in your rambling. You get a few responses to your question, a lot of people bringing up said Subway Boss’s name. “Ingo? So it is Ingo? I knew it!” Your viewers ask what you were talking about. Why was this relevant? Though a few people already had a sinking feeling in their stomachs. “Okay so, like, I wake up this morning and just?? There’s a guy in a torn coat? Outside my house? Like, he looked like the subway guy, but there are a lot of people who look like people i met personally. I figure, ‘huh, this guy might be an ancestor, or whatever.’“ You ramble on, ignoring how the chat seemed to speed up as you continue talking. “Anyway, he tells me good morning, and says I’m needed at headquarters. I said thanks, and went on, and learned that the guy’s name was Ingo!” You ignored the chat blowing up, as you paced across your little room. “And like, I thought ‘huh, that sounds familiar! And he looks familiar!’ But didn’t really think about it until Irida mentioned he was an amnesiac? And is also not from Hisui? He apparently also fell from the sky or something. He’s not sure.” You said with a wave of your hand. You ignored the onslaught of text to speech messages for now, too caught up in your own explanation. “So then I got to thinking, ‘hey, didn’t a guy with that name go missing in Unova?’” You asked, spinning on your heel, facing the phone once more. “And THEN it hit me, I thought he looked damn near the same as the guy! Just like, a little beat up. His coat is like, super shredded, and his hat has some holes in it.” You said, briefly describing the man. “Guys, I know it sounds crazy, but I think the missing subway guy is the same guy who I’m supposed to meet with today. I think he got sent back like me, but somehow lost his memories!” You told the chat excitedly. Your phone was blowing up with the amount of messages you were receiving. You definitely had a back log. Grabbing the phone, you looked to the door, and sighed. “I gotta go guys. I have to meet Ingo soon, and it’s gonna take a while to walk there. I’ll see if I can get pictures or stream with him! Bye guys!” You wave to the phone, ignoring the messages desperately asking for more details. Shutting the stream off, you begin packing for your journey. Meanwhile, Emmet and Elesa are desperately trying to contact you after hoards of people sent them clips of you talking about Ingo. None of their messages go through. Some people tell them that apparently, Arceus itself won’t let you type messages, only stream and make videos and photos. Emmet begrudgingly waits for your next stream. Eager to see if it really is his missing brother, who’s apparently been thrown several centuries in the past.

Alright another compilation headverse post bc the week long blackout through me off more than I thought and I still haven’t done a finalized version of Roy, so here’s a blitz through a bunch of ideas under the cut

The Golden Age Red Hood, now a composite character (I guess?) with Arthur Fleck. Not much of a stretch since Pre-Joker Red Hood’s whole deal is just being an anonymous schmuck in a bad position and becoming the worst guy in the world, but I see this version rifting a bit on Phoenix’s Freddie Quell performance, that sense of displaced/misplaced “chaos” that’s still sort of playing into the system that allows it to exist and thrive...anyway next is Ghost-Maker

Nothing to say here really. I’m not really keeping up with Tynion’s run and I don’t want to get too in the weeds with my opinions on it, which is maybe overly evident in how unpolished my take is. If anything, I was mostly struggling to draw the character at all. He’s got a needlessly busy design that Jimenez commits to and Ortiz does some really fun stuff with, but my first batch of takes all came out like Deadpool. This version...still does? I played with the idea of making him into an identity for headverse!Lincoln March as a big Racer X joke, but who knows.

Pivoting off that, I’m much happier with the new World’s Finest piece. Early career Superman, who’s a pretty standard Clark but I was really happy with the linework for him, and I think the first image I’ve posted of the setting earlier, major OC: Aloysius Fox, Lucius Fox’s father, and the secret First Batman. So, full disclosure, Aloysius’s earliest versions were essentially Luke Fox in the original purple gloves costume bc I love that first costume, with the “grandpa was a secret OG superhero” angle kinda transparently lifted from Lindelof’s big Hooded Justice retcon. All of THAT is then filtered through all the weird mid-late 80s attempts to “fix” Golden Age continuity by subbing in characters like Flying Fox and Iron Munro in place of Batman and Superman. Aloysius will be more fleshed out when I get into Gotham’s headverse history and the Coney Island Justice Society stuff, but for now he’s just a cool design I like to tinker with.

Teth Atem, the Black Adam of Kahndaq, Ancient Champion of Shazam, Lost Master of the Lightning, Cream of the Garden of Eternity’s Corp, Theodore Adams of Fawcett and general multi-hyphenate. Again, I think making him bald is maybe leaning too hard into the live action version wrt The Rock (oh wait, The Rock, Rock of Eternity, that’s funny actually lol). His story role in the headverse is gonna wait until I loop back around to the Shazam Family and Thunderworld, but I love Teth and he’s definitely making into the next edit of the JL group shot lol.

Another weird re-work in the vein of FleckHodd: KRONA AS THE SPECTRE. This one I actually really liked as a concept (illustration is...fine considering I was flying through these), with the basic idea going back to Hal’s Spectre days (and partially his DKSA portrayal) combined with the Spectre’s own history of choosing hosts and turning it into a more generally cosmic entity that the weird superhero interpretation of Christian Mythology it functions as now. I kinda see the Spectre in the headverse as a step between Ion and Aya as a living expression of Willpower “energy” and Krona using his position as a host to develop the mass-produced Krona Gauntlet and later Green Lantern rings, as opposed to Spectre’s overwhelming possession aspect (and death/resurrection aspect, natch). Krona at this point in the time has probably just met or is about to meet Volthoom, so hasn’t totally wilded out, but there’s a reason Spectre still becomes known as “God’s Vengeance” in this canon.

Finally, Cor-Vex! No meta here really, Krypton retconning Jor-El’s birth name is just fascinating (and kinda funny) to me. The “II” being the giveaway that this version isn’t Jor-El, but Kal, in an alternate timeline where Jor kept the name but also has an adult son who went to Earth got superpowers. Cor-Vex II isn’t headverse canon, but Jor-El being named Cor-Vex in other realities and universes will be, with a totally original homebrew alt being the setting of a major Superman story that will let me use Mr. Oz without getting kinda weirded out that Lara was already having a bad day when her husband spontaneously transformed into an old, old man and she just died bc for whatever reason no one wants to write about Lara beyond being the tragically faithful wife and mother.

...this post is already too long (idk how much of this to even tag, it’s sort of all over the place) but Lara Lor-Van’s personal history is a particular fascination of mine too, so she’s getting some development eventually too. (Probably after I finally do that Wonder Woman post I keep mentioning and putting off)

Anyway, sorry this is a mess, been a weird week, but hopefully have more soon!

"Pale Sentinels" has always been a riff off Pale Reavers and makes me feel like "Lala didn't put much thought into it did he" which INITIALLY he might not have, and he might have pitched the name. But Lychen would have hit him and shut him down and said no name it something else.

"Pale" especially evokes that this is an organization of Dreamers which is NOT the case. If ANYTHING they lean more towards Soundless and/or a neutral stance which considers all sides, so I wanted to give them a name that demonstrates this rather than like. Essentially being named "GUARDIANS OF THE DREAM" whilst claiming to be otherwise.

I wanted to name them something bird related initially anyway. Lala loves birds and sees them as a message of freedom and hope. I think the first name I wanted to go with off the bat was Pale Kestrels and then I was like AUGH NO THE KESTRELS IN CANTHA GOT THAT ONE ALREADY AUGH. (Unrelated note but Lacrimosen is why Eldulis "doesn't like" birds--they remind him of Lala.)

So in researching (yes) the renaming of the Sentinels, I narrowed it into two qualities: color and noun. I wanted the sylvari who are in the group to be able to be called by the group name (i.e. in the same way you could say "this ones a courtier, a dreamer, a soundless, a warden, a soldier," etc etc.) So I didn't want to name them something like GOLDEN FUTURE where the members of the organization are then called something fully unrelated.

So RIGHT NOW with all that borne in mind. I am renaming the Pale Sentinels to the Roseate Canaries NOBODY MOVE THERE'S MORE:

Roseate means that something is rose-colored OR that it's optimistic and idealistic-- much like Lacrimosen's desire to fully unite sylvari-kind. His desires and goals may be a bit too rose-tinted to some, but he is hopeful for his race's future.

Canaries as a representation of hope as well. Plus a cheerful, playful bird with a beautiful song.

The organization name is often shortened to Canaries (i.e. unless there's reason to drop the full name, diplomatic meeting or something, no one's really prancing out the Roseate part of it. They all know it's Pink Bird they don't need to specify it every time.)

With that said, I think there are ranks among the Canaries (idk what they're called yet.... I wanna make it something cute and probably birdie themed. and give them some kind of highrank-lowrank buddy system for growth and bond forming within the organization.)

IN ADDITION: I think though they started off primarily as snipers (Lacrimosen did still steal half the Pale Reavers infantry and their armory (Laranthir was a good sport about it thank you mister of the wild) and Lala did repay him later,) they've branched out somewhat. They've got other stuff going on there. I think the Canaries focus not only on armed combat and stealth missions, but also on education and knowledge. They want to have a full, well-rounded view of the world and an understanding of where they stand in it-- these are sylvari after all! (In some funny way the Canaries are almost a miniature, all-sylvari Pact, where every member is expected to learn to work as a member of all three orders.)

I'm also rescinding the previous statement that Lacrimosen doesn't care about other races' politics and strifes. He has to. The Canaries have to take a stance on world issues, they have to be involved in things that come up geopolitically. Considering the time period of their formation (between the end of HoT and beginning of LWS3) I'd say that the Canaries have been present and involved in at the very least: refugee aid in Elona, the advance on Kralk, assault at Thunderhead Keep, and Dragonfall, the advance on Gandara the Moon Fortress (WHERE'D THEY GET VINE WALL SHAPERS HUH? HUH?) Drizzlewood Coast up through Champions, the battle against Soo Won, etc. Currently during SotO they're kept busy keeping up with rifts as well, keeping not just their area safe, but also rural areas with fewer protections from their own military forces.

So: introducing the Requisition Palette, a tiny add on palette of 15 unnatural hair colors. The colors are vaguely inspired by one of our truest loves (Dragon Age) as well as our own personal needs.

You mention on your Ulgurstasta post that you had an Age of Worms soundtrack when you ran the AP in High School. Any other tracks for other encounters/areas?

I actually still have the whole playlist put together! I'll stash it under a cut in the interest of saving space, but some highlights:

The Hellboy soundtrack by Marco Beltrami was sort of the backbone of the piece. The Main Theme was what I used as the main theme for the campaign as a whole, and the themes used for the Nazis in that movie were the cues for the Ebon Triad.

The Full Metal Alchemist soundtrack was also a major role (the original 2004 anime, not Brotherhood). The Homunculus theme was used as Lashonna's theme, in many variations.

Lots of Nobou Uematsu, particularly FFVI and FFVII. I used OC Remix versions of many of those tracks for fights.

The Hall of Harsh Reflections, appropriately, used music from The Thing by Ennio Morricone

Balabar Smenk's theme was the Jabba the Hutt music from Return of the Jedi

The music used for the Kyuss Knights was Spiders and Vinegaroons by Queens of the Stone Age (who were formed from a band named Kyuss)

Musically, Alhaster was Russia. Lots of Russian folk songs for its characters.

The Library of Last Resort was themed around Philip Glass music

Every time they found an artifact, I used The Ecstasy of Gold from the soundtrack to The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Kyuss himself got One Winged Angel for his fight music, so I gave the JENOVA theme to the Harbinger of Worms, who created him.
