Let's ignore all the years of development that went into these games. The work of writers, lead voice actors, artists and designers. Very first animation test is the only thing that is important.

Imagine completely ignoring the whole point of this genre: every Shepard, just like every Warden, Hawke, Inquisitor, and Rook is canon. Their gender, their pre-game history, their romance, everything is canon!

Imagine trying to rationalize your own sexism by saying that the only reason your fantasy isn't reality is because it was 2007 and female protagonists are only for female players??? Yeah, let's ignore all the classic games from the same era with female protagonists. Let's ignore the fact that men can play as women, women can play as men, and non-binary people exist.

Crack fic idea: POV of a police officer chasing a robbery suspect who ends up running into DMC to escape/grab a hostage. When the officer opens the door, he finds the suspect standing frozen in the middle of the room, because on the opposite end by the desk, an angry Vergil's standing there stabbing a surprised Dante. This stabbing pretty obviously happened before the robber showed up. It's only through the hand, but the one guy is holding a whole giant samurai sword, the guy getting stabbed has a gun in his free hand, and there's kind of a lot of blood.

The other officer comes in after POV guy. Officer 2 looks over the scene, then starts to arrest the suspect who's still so shocked he doesn't really fight the handcuffs. Once the suspect is cuffed, Officer 2 starts to walk him through the door and tells POV Officer it's time to go. POV Officer is confused, because uh, sir, there's some pretty severe domestic violence going on and he doesn't know if that gun's registered, and even if they ignore all the normal police/violence/safety issues shouldn't they call some EMTs??? Or at least ask the guy getting stabbed if he's okay???? (To which Dante calls out "oh yeah I'm good!" confusing poor POV officer further)

Officer 2 just frowns and shakes his head. "No, they've got this. Right Dante?" To which Dante cheerfully replies with some small talk that makes it obvious he and Officer 2 are acquainted. Vergil gets tired of the small talk and rips the Yamato out of Dante's hand, walking upstairs. And when POV Officer starts to ask something else, Dante basically just waves him off with some sort of comment about how Vergil's just grumpy, honestly Dante kind of deserved that one, he'll admit he was being a bit pushy. And then waves goodbye when Officer 2 says they really need to get back go the station and book the suspect.

As they leave, POV Officer asks what's going on. Officer 2 basically just tells him not to worry, and not to write it in the report. That's just Dante. Dante tries to keep clear of the police, the police try to keep clear of Dante, and everyone's happy. He's helped out on a handful of cases when he just so happened to be in the area, he's gotten accused of some property damage a few times, it all evens out. You just don't mention Dante. City Police actually have a code for it, if they ever absolutely have to. But today they don't, so they won't. They caught the suspect. That's that. The suspect ran into one of the many abandoned buildings in the area and they caught him. Nothing else of note.

Oh, and if POV Officer is worried about the hand, he shouldn't be. The police here have known demons were real for years before Redgrave, and they're pretty sure Dante's one of the nice ones. When he says he'll be fine, hell be fine. Officer 2 has some good stories about him getting shot in the chest and getting tight bacm up, actually...

...

And so a crazy day comes to an end. The suspect's been caught, the streets are safe, and that's that. Nothing else happened. Nothing at all.

If POV Officer starts sprinting in the opposite direction when he sees a certain tall, white haired, blue eyed, blue wearing man when he's walking down the street later that week, it's for no reason at all.

I'm so glad to recruit someone else to my hepatoscopy group because it is a long and storied tradition with many many different types of study and schools of thought dating all the way back to the Sumerians! It's an extremely underrated bit of study when it comes to sketching portraits of divination and prophecy when it comes to adaptations of imaginings of greek myth works - similar to bird augury (which was such a widespread skill that most people had some level of understanding of the basics of what the omens of common birds meant the way people now can look at the clouds over head and know if it'll rain and when approximately that rain'll happen).

It's a great and common misunderstanding that things like prophecy and magic were these fantastic elements that had no tangible features to their practices and while there's nothing wrong with interpreting things as more fantastical for the sake of coolness or aesthetic, I personally think these elements are interesting enough to be worth looking into and portraying!

The thought of Sam going blind due to the hunt of Bloody Mary lives inside my brain nonstop. The panic between him and Dean. Sam having so much emotions towards it. Fear, loss, strangely relief and almost joy, but also anger. Going through the motions of all of this and having to figure out and navigate his life. Is he even able to hunt anymore? And is it wrong of him to not want to see again in a way? At least this way when he wakes up, there's no disappointment and hurt at not seeing Jessica by his side. Doesn't have to see constant reminders of her that make him replay that night on repeat of all the things he should've done differently. How he should have been there. It's all his fault and he can't stand looking at himself, and this way, he doesn't have to. He has to live with himself but he doesn't have to watch himself fall apart without his rock. Without his person. Without his world. He still hears Dean, knows him well enough to know what he's thinking, where's he at in a room. He's more aware of him now more than ever, and maybe at times he wants to be able to see. At times he wants to go back and kill her before she took his sight because he can't keep living without seeing the things around him. He's tired of running into things, people thinking he's an idiot who can't tell they're trying to scam or hurt him. He's tired of being a liability. But when it came to being able to see again, there was a long pause, Uriel was about to force it and get it over and done with. A blind hunter is useless to Heaven, but Castiel pauses and asks if that's what Sam needs. Quietly asking if it's what he wants, and Sam doesn't know the answer to that. And wonders is it selfish to want to be blind in a world that's hurt him so much more when he had sight? He's not prepared to see what he's become. He's not ready to see if he's been walking around with a false Dean, that this is all just a trick. That it's a shapeshifter or something playing Sam, and he's close enough to the actual Dean, he's not ready to live in a world without him again. Maybe angels are fake and this is something else. He doesn't know for sure. This could be a trick. But if it isn't? Is he ready to live with something he thought was long gone?

'verse but! the tl;dr of it is that it's a semi-college au: joel is still a hockey player for the lv phantoms, but morgan is a college student-athlete. it's incredibly relevant to the plot that joel falls in love with morgan in the check-out line of a wegman's, lies a little bit, and ends up going back to get his degree.

most of it is just good fun about college kids growing up, but i think there's a lot of parallels between making your way through a development system where traditional "success" isn't always guaranteed (ahl -> nhl, completion of higher education -> pursuit of a career) because that development system isn't always designed for you to "succeed" or have opportunities. heavy quotation marks around success because part of that struggle is learning what you want in life and how you define success. are your dreams achievable? are they still the same dreams you always used to have? it's infinite branching universes of would you still love me if i was a worm (ahl player forever) (a college dropout) (a college graduate) (older) (realizing the fallibility of your body) (uncertain of the future) (human).
