Hey, given what you said about Casey finding Karai attractive, and how Casey is really good with Miwa, maybe Donnie would try to set the two up. After all, if Casey is seeing Karai, not only will he not have any more competition on the April front, but then Karai will improve emotionally too, so it’s a win-win. Of course, I don’t think that it’s going to WORK, at least not so easily, especially since Karai will probably see his attempts and be confused about what’s going on, but the idea would be pretty hilarious to see, especially with how Karai reacts.
HSKDFGSKGHS while I see your point I also know that Donnie has personally seen Karai climb up a wall and into the ceiling to avoid a mildly emotional conversation More Than Once
For one I hc Karai as very lesbian, if MAYBE a bit homoflexible. For two, she may Understand attraction with humans but holy shit is she not available for it. Not to mention Casey might have her admiration for being such an unmovable dumbass he should be long long dead but she is not into that. Changelings are very into Being Able To Murder Each Other and Casey's a lot but he's not that
Also, troll relationships aren't the same in the slightest to human relationships and are much less a casual thing considering they live for thousands and thousands of years. Changelings tend to take after them in that but also changelings just. Don't.
Plus changeling Karai is in that stage of realizing she HAS and recovering from trauma that relationships are just a bad, bad, bad idea especially with the new fact of Not Being Human Ever Again. She was willing to play around and date as a human both to help her cover and also just because humans uhhhhh how to put this. Experience Hormones. Changelings don't quite have hormones at all, and most of what they do have are more Random Violence and Paranoia. So the combination of it is just that Karai is not gonna even want a relationship with ANYONE until at the VERY least her own instincts and mind can remember her own damn species. Her entire already messed up life got flipped upside down and through a loopdeloop.
If it did happen, for pure considerations' sake, I think she'd beat up Casey on principle (he'd probably just be like "yeah that's fair" and take his licks) and then go stab Donnie Very Intentionally resulting in someone having to #1 find her because she disappeared afterwards and #2 have to give the murder sister a shaky lecture on "You can't just stab someone because they pissed you off" which will likely result in an argument of "I WENT FOR NONLETHAL IF ANOTHER CHANGELING TRIED SOME BULL LIKE THAT I WOULD KILL THEM" and a lot of screaming, hissing, and cranky baby Miwa who doesn't know what's going on besides "Karai is UPSET"
Thankfully, as the one closest to Karai and the one who best understands her thought process, Donatello would know very well how close to death he would come for trying anything like that lmfao

Watching 2012 TMNT (aka peak TV) again and I have so much to say. I'm gonna combat the writer's weird romance stuff with ✨headcanons✨ (spoilers for season 2 in here!)
Leo doesn't have a crush on his (unknown for season 1 and 2, maybe season 3??) stepsister, (s)he wants to be her! Leo thinks Karai is pretty and realizes she might be a girl. April is a good friend, but Karai is cool, she's got a (literally) metal style, with a kickass hairstyle and rocker makeup. Leo wants to be as confident as her, as a girl!
I actually do ship Casey and April together, they have much more chemistry just from Casey's first appearance rather than how long Donnie and April have been friends. I'm lowkey a big fan of jealous Donnie though, it just fits him somehow. Not creep/stalker Donnie though, too creepy :(. Like I can understand that he doesn't know how to express his feelings for her, but I don't like this portrayal of him, he's not like in any other series! (As far as I know, I've only watched this and Rise, but I feel like I would've seen people talk about it if it happened in other TMNT series.) I don't ship Casey and Donnie either, I like the bromance between Casey and Raph much more. Casey and Donnie do Not like each other at first, cause they're both fighting for April (which is so ridiculous)
Also Casey writes in his diary that April is someone close to him! That's so sweet, whether it's romantic or not, (even if the intention is romantic) they have a really good bond.
Not liking how April will make Donnie believe he has a chance when he doesn't with kissing him, but I do believe she genuinely calls out for him because she knows he'll come for her fast, whether she's aware of his feelings for her or not (she probably is :/)
Also I'm watching season 2 episode 8 right now and why are they making Derp!April freaky???
I'm sad that Raph lost Spike, I wish he didn't turn into Slash, I think Spike was a great pet to show Raph's softer side, and a good constant in his day to day when his brothers were pissing him off. He literally starts destroying stuff now that Spike isn't around in season 2 episode 9!
I love how much Raph loves Mikey (AS BROTHERS!!! i feel like I have to clarify cause the amount of brother shippers is too many, and y'all aren't welcome on my page) like any time Mikey gets hurt Raph is the first one to notice and scream "Mikey!" I love their younger sibling dynamic since they act the most like siblings (though Leo, Donnie, and Mikey got their part of teasing their siblings)
Casey is so punk, you know he DIY'ed all the stuff he has, especially with the makeshift electrocuter. And wearing both face paint and a mask? Hell yeah! I wanna read more on punk history and why people wear a mask rather than Casey's reason of "cause it's cool!"
yeah I love this show despite all its problems, I enjoyed it when I was younger and I still love it now
okay let me actually keep watching instead of trying to write this post and watch at the same time LOL, I've gotten through 4+ episodes trying to write this post. This hallucination episode is scary cause imagining it in the perspective of people who experience hallucinations irl,

Not your dad - Part 1
Heya I'm back from "my arm hurts break" >:3 Purple = Donnie's family Orange = Mikey's family Blue, red, etc. (Yellow is April's) IF ONLY TUMBLR WOULD ALLOW MORE COLORS *SOBS* Anyways, this one is wayyy shorter than the previous one and this one WILL have multiple parts >:3 @ackalice
------------------------------------------------- Inside an abandoned scrapyard, teenagers were hanging out. Most of them were sitting here and there while two others were combat training. It was a male mutant gecko against a long black-haired female human. A young man, with wavy blonde hair, was sitting inside a car right in front of the fighters. He was trying to fix the wheels of his skateboard. He looked up at the fight and examined the gecko. "Hey, Kenji! Why don't ya have a shell or plastron like the others?" "Yeah, you're just.. Gecko" Added a young woman, sitting in the back of an old pickup. Her red hair was tied up into a ponytail as she played with a ball. The mutant gecko abruptly stopped fighting and examined himself. "Uh- I actually don't know" The young black-haired woman groaned. She was clearly pissed at the fact that Kenji interrupted their training. "Kenji, focus!" He turned back to her. "Right, sorry Shino" The mutant stood quickly into a defensive pose.
The two of them restarted training as another voice was heard. "Actually, I asked my father about this" This young girl was a mix between an axolotl and a turtle. Well, she looked like an axolotl but had some shell plates on her body. "The answer is quite simple, it only means that Uncle Michelangelo is not Kenji's biological father"
Kenji froze as he heard those words coming out of Marisol's mouth. In the blink of an eye, his bo staff was cut in two by Shinobu's katanas. Both teenagers staggered at first but regained their balance fairly quickly. "You're lying, right?" Kenji looked up to Marisol, the axolotl-turtle hybrid. They both silently stared at each other while the rest of the group awkwardly waited for anyone to break the silence. "Why would I even lie? Tell me, Hamato Kenji, what would I get if I lied to you?" Marisol kept her gaze on her cousin. Kenji took the pieces of his broken staff and then angrily and quickly walked away, leaving his cousins in an uncomfortable situation.
Later in the evening, the whole family was reunited at the table for dinner. April, Casey and Karai's families were only eating with them on special occasions, like birthdays, Christmas, etc. Yes, sometimes life was hard since the four brothers or literally anyone could fight but as a team, they often would find a path of agreement. "Kenji? Could you get a juice box for Cody?" Elina gently asked as she was spoon-feeding her youngest. Kenji was the closest to the fridge so of course she asked him. "Do it yourself" Kenji angrily mumbled as the whole table fell silent. Everyone blinked, except the younger ones, since they did not understand what just happened. "Don't you fucking dare speak like that to your mother" Raphael was the first to answer. "Raphael" Leo and Marshanda both said at the same time. They looked at each other but Leo stayed silent, letting Marshanda handle this.
"What?" Raphael glared at both of them. "It is not Raphael's fight" Mars glared back at the red-masked turtle and Leo nodded, agreeing with the tiger. Raph groaned but gave up anyways. Now that this was settled, Mikey took a small breath and looked at Kenji. "Hey, pal, that was a pretty uncool tone that ya used there so if ya could be nice and say sorry to your-" "Oh fuck off!!" Kenji stormed out of the dining room and his chair fell to the floor. Both Elina and Mikey stood up. "Kenji!" His mom worriedly called for him, but of course, he didn't come back. Mikey and Elina both worriedly glanced at each other. Donnie leaned to the right, where his daughter was sitting. "Analysis?" he said as quietly as possible. Marisol also leaned toward her father. "I told him that uncle Michelangelo was not his biological father" "Ah.. Noted" Both Donnie and Marisol stood back up as if nothing happened. "Ken! Come back!" Mikey started but then looked at Raph who kept trying to catch his attention. The red-masked turtle showed his fist to his brother, telling him that he needed to be firm and Leo facepalmed at that. Mikey turned back to the hallway. "If ya don't come back, I'll um- I'll remove the wheels of ya skateboard dude!" "Oh for fuck's sake Mikey.." Raph facepalmed.
-------------------------------------------------------------- Mikey is a good dad, but his kids never acted like Kenji did before so he doesn't know how to act. Usually, when they have a problem, they immediately speak to Elina or Mikey because they trust them. But this time, Kenji realized that both his parents "lied" to him so how could he trust them? Next post will maybe, be Raph's ref sheet?? We'll see! >Part 2<

💭 for all Shredders: Technology, Flowers, Regret, Change, and Dreams
| send 💭 + topic for a head cannon on
Tumblr media
"Look out for Shredder, I didn't spend use in this identity to not still carry terror."
Technology
"Even with how behind the earth and it beings are the tech available has proven of use."
Shredder being from a more advance species is often annoyed by how behind the earth tech can feel to him at times. Always aware that there is something better out in space that can more achieve what he needs and wants. Often Shredder finds himself seeking out those who are good with it and often it's why Stockmen had failed to live to his expectations with how often he fails. To Shredder he is all talk he ended up liking Chaplin because he held better results in the end and never once went around his back. If your someone skilled when it comes to technology? you will be on his radar. Like certain purple banded turtles.
Shredder himself dose understand it but he's not someone who can make it himself. It very much how we can understand our own modern tech but don't me we know how to manipulate it and such like those in engineering and such can. Why he tends to seek out more scientific uses he truly sees the potential in it.
Flowers
"Useless, they hardly last once in bloom and hold no value. Even the most beautiful blossom with soon wilt"
Flowers often represent life and it's cycles so for someone who well doesn't fully care about the lives of others of course he isn't going to care about the life of a plant either. But that one mention of one beautiful flower? I don't care what anyone wants to say Shredder had a soft spot for Karai. He didn't hold a reason to take in this orphan girl and raise her as his own. You can understand why he has people like Hun under his control and such. But Karai? sure she fills in a role to be his heir so he can in a way keep up his ruse through her but he trusted Karai a lot even with his secret of being an utrom. When She was kidnapped by Bishop? Shredder literally went ballistic for him about it? A guy who tries to act like he doesn't care about anyone? hell Hun was getting a chance to be back on his good side if he got her back and he was pretty pissed at him.
Regret
"Turtles"
Lets be honest Shredder maybe would have achieved a lot of his goals if them dang turtles never got involved but as the show went to show us many times over? that wouldn't be the case. Shredder and the Turtles are connected in a way. They created each other nearly you could even say if it wasn't for Shredder the turtles wouldn't be where they are now. Dude created his own fail safe u-u even after he is gone the turtles are still having to deal with any Shredder that comes back thats a connection that I feel none of them like to think about however u-u
Change
"Change comes and goes and sometimes we must embrace those changes for our goals."
I don't see shredder as someone who can change himself seeing how the show makes out the spirt of Shredder alone as someone who holds on to ambitions and obsessions after all. It's often his own down fall the only change he tends to take well is anything that can be of use to him. Be he's lived a long time and has learned to work with the changes of the world around him. From being in charge of a ninja clan to this big shot millionaire in New York who had the mayor in his pocket thanks to his wealth? A changing environment sure but personally no he can not. bloodthirsty, insane, selfish, wrathful, sadistic, and relentless. He hates anyone who challenges, impedes, or otherwise wrongs him holding grudges long after the fact
Dreams
"I only dream for my conquests!"
As shown he really is mostly in for his own gain here, Shredder someone who takes and demands control and has been easily able to get it. Through resources or pure respect even sometimes fear Shredder simply looks for control and I feel this is what lead him being the villain he is now. He was a criminal among his own race yes I know I should guess call him Ch'rell but dude went so far into making himself in Shredder I just XD look I aint dead naming him okay. He is embodiment of the stereotypical megalomaniac of course he's simply seeking anything that puts him in the position he feel fits him.
Tumblr media
"Don't waste my time."
Technology
"It can have it's uses but doesn't often have much against transitional or hands on approaches"
Unlike the 03 version Oroku is very much someone still set in the ways he grew up. His clan didn't seem to take much of modern conveniences, and where He could see some use he tends to avoid resorting to tech to often least till Karai brought forward a kranng bot and he saw that they could be made of use for the clan. Even bringing in baxter to be his primary tech support so to speak. So he did learn to see how technology can benfit him even going so far as to make use of the mutagen from the kranng as well, seeing how he is willing to mutant himself later. He dose also see the benefits of more than just Tech seeing how he goes about securing resources for even bio level use.
Flowers
"She..loved Jasmine flowers."
Even Shredder head of the foot clan isn't immune to human emotions as much as he tries to be. My toxic trait is I do feel he truly loved Shen but like in many other times in this show? His hate for Yoshi was always stronger and even impacts later relationships like his kids. As twisted and wrong people may see it he did love and care about Karai. And I extend this to Casey and Angle for the Foot au as well. He dose care when Yoshi was thought long gone and dead and all he had to worry about was the future of his clan? I feel like their lives weren't as bad. Yeah they didn't get normal childhoods and were growing up in an environment full of love either. He very much raised weapons over children.
I feel he saw things in his kids and did try to parent them but it was alway in this mind set harsh parenting, he was strict, abuse would be there to. Karai was throw into a pit of snakes to overcome her fear and Casey with a fear of Rats? In his mind its all to make them strong to face this world that will try and take them down. I feel he was nicer when they were younger, considering Karai's memories.
But unfountetly he learned Yoshi was alive and I feel things got worse after that. And feel these once good memories I'd why it's hard for the kids to fully turn against shredder till given a good reason. In cannon it was karai learning Yoshi was her dad for example.
Regret
"Being to soft on my children."
To Shredder he was to soft on his kids and that's what allowed any chance for them to go against him. He turly felt he was setting them up for success well ignoring giving them some very basic needs none of them really had fulfilled. He just never met if he could let got of his obsession maybe he would have been better and then his son would been more enemies to lovers situation xD.
He only disappointed in Casey because he went against him and thier family. He turly dose think casey has potential and sees himself in his son not once had he ever seen casey as not his son. Even if he dose tend to put casey below Karai this is connected to his obsession however u_u. Knowing his son was broken down by something as simple as love? Pretty familiar isn't it?
Change
"Only the weak accept a need to change."
This man would literally let the world end then let go of his hate for Yoshi. So bi he isn't going to change no one is enough for him to change for not even his kids. He will always hate more than he loves he can't ever let go of that he's never fully let love in to change him re refuses to change u_u which is a shame I still think he'd be a decent dad and spoil his kids if he could but that's my toxic trait uwu.
Dreams
"Mostly I dream of the future of my clan."
Shredder man be old school but from stuff we get to see he had dipped into other avenues of bussniess running a company in Japan even that he sometimes has to go back and check in on. Shredder dreams for Karai to take over once he finally passes on. So je wants everything in order why he's so hard on her (and casey for the au, as stated he thinks casey would basically take on Tiger Claws role, being in charge if the ninja in the clans training and such. I can't personally say for Angle since she baby but he has trust funds and such for each kid set up as well.)
The foot Clan is one of his priorities and he wants it to contuine to succeed especially it it means stomping out the Hamato Clan.

The Problem with Rise Apriltello
An analysis by Pepperimp01, aka Char, aka me
Well, it’s been a total of about a week since I last pissed off the Rise of the TMNT fandom, so I suppose I better do it again.
I’d like to clarify before I begin that I will not be comparing Rise Apriltello to any past Apriltello versions (mainly 2012), because it seems irrelevant to talk about it. Whatever your opinion on that ship, does not apply here. Good? Good!
Uh, spoilers for Rise btw.
Tumblr media
I’d also like to start by saying I adore Rise April. She is probably my favorite character overall in Rise. I love her personality, her design, her growth, and her character development that ends with her becoming a Hamato. It actually makes me tear up every time she has the final moment with Karai.
My issue with Apriltello has little to do with her, actually. To be honest, the idea of her being childhood friends with the turtles is adorable and makes my heart melt to think about. My problem is actually with Donnie.
(If you're a Rise Donnie stan, I beg you to read the entire thing before you harass me,,,, again)
Tumblr media
Donnie is not a good friend.
When I was first in the fandom, I really loved Rise Donnie and April’s friendship. I thought it was such a nice change of pace from the past TMNT verse to have them just be cool buds instead of awkward love interests. And at first, I was right. Early on, in the episodes War and Pizza and the Purple Jacket respectively, Donnie goes out of his way to help April, even putting himself in danger to do so.
Unfortunately in the latter episode, Donnie also proceeds to blame April for his own mistakes. She did warn him in the beginning about the Purple Dragons, and he ignored her for his own selfish reasons. Donnie, we all know can’t admit when he’s wrong and has an ego larger than his forehead as his only personality trait, so I guess that should be expected.
“April: I warned you about those guys.
Donnie: You said they were full of themselves not that they were criminal masterminds. So in a small sense, this is entirely your fault.”
-The Purple Game
Tumblr media
This example is relatively minor and was a joke so I’m not going to harp too much about it. However, there is one episode that still bugs me and that is Donnie Vs. Witch Town.
My god. Donnie is at his worst in this episode (and that’s saying something considering he's selfish and insufferable for most of the series). All April wanted to do was visit Witch Town and get help on her project. Instead of supporting his supposed best friend, Donnie proceeded to act like a jealous boyfriend and sulk the entire time, even sabotaging everything for her. He mansplained and disrespected the witches, and even got April arrested for something HE did. He was the one who got her banned, it was entirely his fault and you know what? I’d maybe forgive it if he, I dunno, apologized? He apologized to the witches, sure, but he never apologized to April for ruining everything for her.
No, apologizing is too much work for the “precious purple bean”, and he decided it would be a great idea to make it all about him.
“April: Why are you so obsessed with proving me wrong on this?
Donnie: Because, I’m the Science Guy! If mystic powers can do everything I can do but better, then why would you guys even need me?”
- Donnie vs Witch Town.
This is actually a really common manipulative tactic used to make the other person apologize, or alternatively, comfort the abuser. April should not have been the one to comfort him and he should not have gone on his “poor me” tangent. It’s really sad that Donnie actually showed more compassion towards a robot, rather than his best friend. At least with S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N, he apologized. Too bad he can't do the same for April.
Tumblr media
In conclusion? Raph should be April's best friend over Donnie.
I guess all we can hope is that Donnie will be better in the movie. Although if you saw my Andy and Russ callout post, that might not be likely.

I have to thank @southernblossoms for this one, she got evil!Leo in my brain and he hasn’t left ever since.
TW: Violence, Gore, Blood, NSFW content below
Rated Explicit (18+ years)
“She said I'm looking like a bad man, smooth criminal
She said my spirit doesn't move like it did before
She said that I don't look like me no more, no more
I said I'm just tired”
Tumblr media
Leonardo always knew there was an inch inside of him that was darkness.
If left alone and unchecked, it would spread. Fester like some disease and he feared that someday he’d allow it to course through his body so freely.
And let it win.
It seemed today would be that unfortunate day. A night like any other, just more bloodshed than necessary. But hey, who said they should go and kill his father? Torture him to such an extent and string up his body for his brothers and him to find.
In that very moment that inch had grown in his soul to a degree that it blinded him. All he knew was to destroy, to hurt and erase those who had done this. He felt so cold, hands cupping his fathers motionless bloodied feet, the gentle tapping of blood and the cries of his brothers echoing in his ears.
So when Leo stood, bloodied (not bathed in his own), holding the head of the monster responsible, how could he regain peace? This had only brought a momentary second of reprieve and it was so fleeting. He looked into Shredder’s lifeless eyes, numbness spreading but a need that had started out as an inch. A need to kill everyone who had been part of this, directly or indirectly.
They all deserved so much worse.
They all deserved death.
Slow and torturous.
He had disappeared after that night. His brothers knew that this was the end of their leader, of their beloved brother who wanted to believe that good in this world could prevail.
For them they never imagined that Leo would just let the darkness take hold of him, nestle him with such a loving embrace. For him to embrace it right back felt justified, for his brothers it painted the gory picture of things to come.
They never expected to meet him in the opposition. To view him as foe and not family. Leonardo had quickly taken hold of the scum of the earth. He had molded the darkness to serve him.
Raphael thought Shredder was their worst enemy.
He never expected to have Leo claim that spot in a matter of months.
The Foot had fallen under his ruling, and he wasted no time in setting examples, and the bloody path those examples left behind never seized to churn the brothers stomachs.
There was no means of bringing him back, and perhaps it’s for the better.
Because whatever has eaten away inside of Leonardo cannot simply be flushed out of his body, nor ripped from his very soul. The body counts too high by now as he strays further and further away from what he was taught.
From what his father taught him...
_______________
You run with the unsavories. An eat or be eaten mentality that has caused you to survive years and years of gang wars and mutant freaks. Not like you’d throw about that last bit, much less when you’re standing single file, close to pissing yourself because he’s there.
And Christ he’s a sight to behold.
A rumor, a legend, a monster.
You tell him you’ve got valuable info, you know where to follow the trail that’ll lead to success. Even when your partner tries to push his chin up in front of Leonardo, you’re already wincing at what his demise will be shaped in.
Leo really loves cutting heads off.
A strong emphasis on loves.
You swallow, eyes flying anywhere but the rapidly growing puddle of blood that approaches your feet. Even then, your eyes stray towards the newest leader of the Foot, Leo punctures his katana into the head, a crude skewer as he lifts it and examines the severed body part as if answers lie in the gush of blood that falls. Those dark blue eyes move on you, you swallow.
He walks over to you, blade in hand, blood tap tapping onto the ground “Your information” Leo’s voice is weightless, bored almost. You motion towards your pocket, the crumpled up note with a poorly drawn map the key to your salvation. Leo reaches his hand in and you’re still, stiff and frightened by the intrusive touch and his proximity.
He pulls the note out and examines, the ghastly expression of horror on the decapitated head so close you can smell the coppery scent. “Can you get more of this? The coordinantes?” You crane your neck to look at him, his stature imposing. “Yeah, I’m your girl for that shit, swear on it” He flicks the blade and the sound of the head rolling makes your stomach flip flop along with it.
You feel the tip of a bloodied katana on your chin.
“Don’t make me cut off such a pretty head, hm?” You want to nod but the blade digs and Leo’s mouth twitches in something akin to a smirk. The small cut to your chin stings, but you wonder why other parts of you vibrate.
The danger, the adrenaline, Leonardo.
_____________
Your next meeting doesn’t quell your nervousness. Leonardo is an impressive sight as always and it’s imposible to ignore that maybe you won’t make it out alive every time you both meet. Unless proven useful, which you take to heart. You bring all sorts of information, names, rumors, possible gangs wanting to take him on, the police. Any word you heard in regards to him.
“It’s possible they might try to meet you half way, catch you off guard” The warehouse is chilly, that fall weather starting to hit but Leo’s unfazed, the black tails of his mask move with the gust of winds. “Stupid of them to assume that” The second floor of the warehouse seems to be his own, leaving the rest of the crew bellow. He sits on the windowsill, cloth running up his katana, it had been bloody when you were brought in.
“I’m just repeating what I heard, I’m sure you’re more than adept to take them on” You stick your hands in the pockets of your jacket, you’d been frisked not like you were stupid enough to bring a weapon to this.
But then again, the more he polished that sword, the more you wished you had something.
“What else have you heard? Any word on Karai?” The woman in question had appeared to have disappeared into thin air after Shredder’s death and Leo taking command of the Foot soldiers. Wether she planned to reclaim what was hers or if she had simply quit was beyond you and anybody else. “Nothing on her, she might’ve skipped town or the country” You offered, eyes following the sword as Leo placed it on a nearby table.
“She strike you as the type? A coward?” He walked over towards you, his expression so eerily unreadable.
Yet, your eyes wandered over him. Over muscle and scales. Overs scars and bruises. That illogical part of your brain making you wonder and fantasize, because fear could be exciting.
There was something exciting about Leonardo.
“Well?” He was in front of you, looking down at you. It hits you how minuscule you must look to him.
“Probably plotting? You did murder her dad” You find his eyes, you swallow.
“Well he murdered mine. Eye for an eye...” He spoke gently almost.
“Makes the whole world go blind” You finished for him, and maybe that was stepping on a line but you noticed the corner of his mouth twitch up. For a brief second you catch his eyes scan yours, move across your face and settle at your lips.
Passed your neck, towards your breasts.
He turns around and grabs his sword.
“One week, find more info on her, your pay is downstairs” You’re dismissed and before you process anything a Foot soldier is ushering you downstairs and shoving an envelope in your hands.
That night you dream about what your lips might feel like against reptilian scales.
—————————
Karai’s whereabouts are practically unheard off. If there was a trail it had run cold months back and judging from the word of mouth being passed around there wasn’t anything sustainable. You dig up anything and everybody. Every dirt bag with an agenda, ex Foot soldiers, opposing gangs, the mob and just about anybody you have in your radar.
It yields nothing.
You can’t return to Leo with nothing.
Rubbing a hand across your tired face, you make your way through the back alleys of the city. Your one week was coming up and all you had were weak possibilities and baseless assumptions. In your line of business enough information to create doubt can go a long way, but this was conspiracy levels bad.
So you thought and you thought quick.
Pulling out your phone you called him first. Perhaps a dumb move but at the same time you figured it showed that you were trying. You asked if the two of you could meet, the line briefly went quiet before your text tone startled you. He hung up and you were met with the address of a building in Brooklyn and to go up to the roof.
To say you were scared was to put it lightly.
You were shitting yourself.
The roof of the building had a green house which seemed unused but it looked like it was being kept up with the vegetation still green and alive. Your hand made for the door knob but something you could only name as a sixth sense made you freeze.
Leo was there, the shift in the atmosphere was impossible to deny. Your turned and blinked.
Wherever he had been, it must’ve been worse. There was blood on him, a fresh gash by his arm and the steady drip drip of blood hitting the concrete. “Jesus are you...?” You knew he was ok, but whomever had been on the receiving end of this had it by far much worse.
“Inside, go inside” He motioned for the green house and you did. Your eyes scanned around hoping to find something to help with. There was a nest of sorts in a corner, several blankets and cushions, a table and a chair amidst the plants. You found what you were looking for near the bonsais, a shelf with a box of first aid. Leo went towards a counter with a basin and a jar of water, he went about cleaning the gash on his arm.
You approached him with the box of first aid, blue eyes were cautious as you took out antiseptic and gauze. Leo had turned to face you, giving you more room to work on his arm as you bandaged it. “You alright?” Your voice held hesitation, Leo’s questioning gaze turned to amusement. “I’m fine, what I want to know is why you wanted to meet” You finished bandaging him and took a step back.
Pick your words wisely, you thought with a slight shutter.
“Listen I’ve spoken with any and everyone who might have any clue but Karai is off the radar”Swallowing a lump in your throat you shrugged off your jacket, worry manifesting in heat. “I know this isn’t what you wanted and I’m really fucking good at my job but this bitch is either underground or who knows! Dead for all I know!” The exasperation and worry was clear as day, he either took this the right way or the wrong way.
Wrong way being you end up pushed off this very building, at best ironically enough.
Leo swallowed the information, clearly bouncing it around his head. The dry specks of blood scattered across his green flesh. An odd silence fell amongst you both and even when he rose in all his imposing glory you kept your eyes focused on him. Getting a read on that cold calculated gaze of his was hard enough.
Your throat feels painfully dry once he has you backed up against the wall. Something about dying alone with not even an audience to witness it didn’t sit too right with you.
But then again, Leo’s large hand gripped your neck, nothing too tight but enough to alert you to its presence. Those blue eyes looked haunted but just beneath that laid something you couldn’t just place your finger on. The tips of his fingers lightly caressed you, one of them fascinated with your quickened pulse. You can’t blink, unsure what may happen and when he dips down your adrenaline makes you flinch.
Leo halts his movement, his blood feels like it’s pumping loudly enough for you to hear. Wide eyed you lean up instead and ghost your lips against his, Leo sighs through his nostrils and it stays that way. A pull but not enough of a push because there’s still fear in your blood and a hesitation that you can’t put a name to from Leonardo.
Your phone going off startles you, nearly making you jump out of your skin and to a fraction of your dismay Leo takes a step away. One of your contacts name flashed on the screen which meant there could still be some good news. Your turned away to speak, pulling a marker from your pocket you write down some information on your forearm. It’s a quick conversation and once done you turn to see Leo putting together his gear again.
You bit your lip, whatever was about to happen would just have to take a back seat. ‘Fucking coward’ you can’t help but think about yourself.
“One of my guys says he might have it on good authority that Karai is still here” You watch him turn his head to listen, even if he’s got his back/shell to you. “Well?” He pushes while adjusting his swords.
“He says she might’ve just met up with...with one of your brothers” Tense doesn’t even begin to explain what his body did, the mear mention of his family was a sore subject and you had been warned to not even attempt to open that can of worms. Swallowing and feeling your throat stick from how dry it felt you see him pull out a key and toss it to you. “Send me that address, you’ll get your money at the warehouse” You barely manage to catch the key to the greenhouse, but still you raise a brow at the offering.
“Come back here when you’re ready” Is all he says about it, confusion is painted on your face but when he moved to leave he takes a moment to hold your chin. “Don’t make me regret this” He says and before you can attempt to ask he’s gone.
You stay there, twenty minutes or so in nothing but your thoughts and his words swimming around your mind.
Feeling heat between your legs and a lick of frustration consuming you.
_____________
Two weeks you contemplate the key in your pocket.
Two weeks you let your thumb hover over his number but never press down.
For two weeks you find your pillow between your legs, trying to reach the sensation he managed with just his body close to yours.
But nothing.
It’s not enough.
New York is covered in rain as you make your way through the sea of people. Regardless of the many umbrellas you still get soaked and by the time you’re up on that roof, hand digging out the key to the green house you’re drenched.
Inside you shake off the excess and remove your jacket. The cold hits you and you can’t help but feel silly that you’re here, maybe this is his way of taking you out, you’re not needed anymore by now you assume.
You turn on the few lanterns that are scattered through the room. Kicking off your boots you rub your arms and shiver, flesh breaking out into goosebumps as the door creaks open once more.
Leo’s equally drenched when he steps through, the black tails of his mask sticking to him. The two of you just stare at one another, steady drips of water and the rain outside picking up more strengh.
Carefully you watch him begin take apart his gear, leaving his katanas by the door. He’s trying to keep your apprehension at low levels, his steps slow and soft. You let your arms fall to your sides and as your heart tries to hammer out of your chest you don’t flinch this time, even as his hands go for the hem of your long sleeve. You take a deep breath as his eyes wander across your now exposed flesh. The fascination goes straight to your core, feeling yourself warm up as his hands rest on your stomach.
With trembling hands you unbutton your jeans and step out of them and the inhale Leo takes as he closes his eyes makes you reach for him. He holds you against him and sighs, large frame shuddering at the feel of your skin against his reptilian one. He buries his snout against your neck, breathing harder as his hands run all over your back and rear. Leo grips and kneads the flesh and a groan escapes against your ear that makes your wrap your arms around his neck. He feels the softness of your breasts against his chest, he’d be a liar if he said he hadn’t been dreaming about them for months now.
You can’t wrap your head around it but he feels just as you fantasized about him. The roughness of his flesh, the edges of his shell and god his teeth nip at your neck with a growl. Wiggling out of his hold you start to undo whatever else needs to be taken off and Leo can’t help but smirk at your frenzied movements. He allows you to undress him, he’s gutted when your hands land on his waist as you start to kneel before him.
“No, no, kiss me first” He cups your face and presses his mouth against yours and that’s it, you’re done for, you’re hooked and can’t go back now. His kiss is possessive, forceful and it drowns every thought in your brain.
You pressed against one of the tables with the many Bonsais when Leo’a tongue slithers into your awaiting mouth. He sits you down on the table and nudges your legs apart to fit himself in between them, you crane your neck up losing yourself in his kiss. He can taste rain water, feels the sweat and rain mingle on your skin. God he wants to run his tongue all over you, eat you whole if he could.
It feels like forever when he pulls away, reluctance in his body. Blue eyes search into your e/c eyes, he wants to see something maybe your fear so he denies himself falling into this rabbit hole. Your hands press against his plastron and gently you run your nails down the hard plates, you shake your head fascinated by the texture. He’s rough but strong, a marvel of a species.
With some difficulty you managed to push your underwear off and spread yourself again for his viewing pleasure. “I want you,” You nodded, eyes falling to the hard length between his legs. Leo wraps a large hand around it and pumps slowly, body shivering at the sensation. “God I fucking want you so bad” You feel him come back to you, mouth on yours in yet another harsh kiss.
The tip of his cock nudges against your wet heat and he bites your lip at the sensation. Leo pushes into you so frustratingly slow, even as his girth stretches you to a point you’ve never been before. You want him inside of you now, and Leo couldn’t agree more. He bottoms out inside of you with a lengthy groan, head thrown back in ecstasy. “You feel... so fucking good” He growls out through gritted teeth, hips picking up speed as you wantonly take him in. You press your lips to his chest and moan with each slow but pronounced thrust of his hips.
His hand finds itself at the back of your head, grabbing fistfuls of your hair to keep your gaze on his. The slight tug burns so good and you can’t help but keep your pleasure filled gaze on his own. Lips parted you let him rock into you steadily until his thrust start to slam into you. The sensation spreads all over your body, little shocks of pleasure rocking your body.
“Mine, you’re going to be mine and only mine” He voices lowly, a threat laced in his passion. You’re too far gone to speak, nodding aimlessly at his every word, moans falling from your lips. “Nobody will own you like I do, nobody will touch you, Y/N? You understand? I’m making you mine” He pressed his forehead to yours, lost in this feeling.
“Fuck yes, yours, I’m gonna be all yours” You lick his lips and when he reaches a hand between both your bodies your mind goes blank. A vicious shudder overtakes you as you muffle a scream against his jaw. He fills you up so good and so warm with a strange vibration that sounds like an endless growl. Each rope he pumps into you making his eyes roll back. You’re shattered against, limp and raw throat from the scream that leaves your mouth.
He watches your come down, hand against your cheek, thumb running across your lips. When he pulls out just enough to watch his essence cascade out of your pretty little hole, he pumps himself back into you. His eyes say it all, from here on out whatever your life was up to this point is over and done with. Leo nuzzles you still lazily pumping himself in you, blissful to the little tremors your cunt produces around his member making him harden once again. Picking you up, bodies still joined, he makes his way to the nest of blankets on the floor.
You hold onto him, all you can do is hold onto him.
____________
It’s rather odd to be in this position. With an entire year that’s passed it never seems to feel normal, not that you’re complaining though.
Being in a position of power by proxy has its fucking fun rewards.
For example nobody in this city will ever contemplate taking you out. Unless they want a very pissed off Foot Leader to set fire to the city and maybe even the world. From opposite points to now standing at his side. No one is to address you as below them, or touch you or let alone breath the same air you do.
You can still hear the bones that were cracked when one particularly unruly Foot soldier made snide comment about you. Each crack of the mans arm being slowly twisted until his arm broke still rang in your ears to this day. Leo hadn’t flinched, hadn’t even scowled even as the twist turned to pulling the limb off.
He did in fact fuck you hard against the glass windows of the hotel suite he had you both in. The copper scent lingering on his scales, but enraptured with the heat enveloping his cock.
With the city at war everyone had began to run amok to do their own barbaric things. Each part of the city divided between gangs, mobs, mutants, police and civilians. You were out on active Foot duties, you were still free to do as you pleased but with protection and Leo demanded your whereabouts on the hour due to possibilities of abduction.
He knew you were a weakness.
But did he give a shit? Of course not. Let them try, he hasn’t needed an excuse for his tyrannical acts thus far, but if harm did ever befall you, you only wished you could witness what his methods would be to exact his revenge.
And he was so familiar with revenge after all.
You admire yourself in the full length mirror, examining the body that training under Leo has provided you. The mutant terrapin in question comes up from behind you and wraps his strong sculpted arms around your waist. You can’t help but smirk as he rest his chin a top your head. “We’re heading out in half an hour” He mumbles against your hair, enjoying the scent. You watch through the mirror as his hands rub up and cup your breast, with a sigh you rest against his strong build. “What’s on the agenda tonight? Purple dragons?” You feel him shake his head, fingers dipping inside the cups of your bra. “Mob,” Is his sole reply.
You bite your lip, gripping his wrists. “We’ll be late” You try to muffle a moan as he tweaks a nipple, he grinds against your backside. “I’m killing them regardless, and I much rather have the scent of your cunt on my hands while I listen to their boring excuses for parley” Your knees buckled when you felt his hand slither inside your underwear, finger already parting your lips and humming as he feels how wet you already are.
You feel his other hand wrap around your neck, keeping you upright and your gaze on the mirror as his finger dips into your welcoming heat.
He engulfs your every thought, every sensation; and what’s the fate of the world when you’ve got him? He chose you just as much as you chose him. You’ve never considered yourself good, scumbag street rat who just happened to make a living amongst the other scumbags. But this? With Leonardo and the trail of bloodied heads he’s left behind, it’s hard not to be excited to see gasoline be poured on the city. He trails his lips to the shell of your ear and you can’t help but grin.
“Mine” He says.
Burn everything.

Ghost Splinter 2 and his kids properly all need to sit down at some point and talk.
I think it'd be good for them to have a long conversation together when they're all calm and nothing terrible has happened in the last 24 hours. Like they can sit down and each of them say "this is what I want to talk about/ think we all need to discuss". It's a chance for all eight of them to get stuff off their chests. And because it's not prompted by anything horrible happening, they can take their time with it and they've not got to worry about anyone being too injured to have the discussion.
Like after the fight on the Wolf Hotel and when Splinter went to Shredder's mansion alone, they didn't really talk.
After the first one, none of them talked. Leo and Donnie shouted at Splinter, Raph was mostly in shock, and Mikey was trying to get everyone to stop argueing. April was either unresponsive still or was also pissed off.
They kinda talked after Shredder died, but it wasn't a very long conversation. Splinter was more or less turning into an ink puddle in front of them, having drained himself completely of all energy and flirting with destabilisation, so Leo only asked the questions he felt were most important and shelved the rest. Like Splinter was in no state to be answering all their questions or having a long conversation.
And after he woke up they were still really nervous around him. It wasn't because they were afraid of him, more like they were worried about him and didn't want to push him too hard. Even after Splinter's body was fully stable again, they were wary.
Chances were they didn't have that sit down until after Splinter made his new form. He both looks and feels more like his old self, but he's also coming to terms with his own death. Plus his sons are all a lot more comfortable around him in his new form compared to his ghost one - generally speaking it's easier to have a conversation with an actual face than a skull, especially when it belongs to someone you know.
Splinter pretty much decided they needed to talk about everything and that he still had a lot of explaining to do. He doesn't make them all sit down one day and say "we are going to have a talk" as such. it's more along the lines of after patrol one night whilst he's helping Mikey make them all (minus Splinter) something to eat he says they need to talk. Not today, because they've just got back from patrol and need to rest, but in a couple days he thinks they should all sit down for a long conversation. Karai wasn't there that evening (she had Foot Clan stuff), so he calls her and the day ends up being one she can make it.
Not sure what all the questions will be but a few would likely be:
Why didn't he tell them he died? - they've asked this one before, but half of them were furious with him, so going over it again will help.
When did he die? How? - this'll properly be the one question he doesn't want to answer. He will if that's what they want, and if anyone wants to leave the room whilst he explains they're free to, but he'll be very vague and his kids will be okay with that.
Was he ever planning on telling them? - Raph knows the answer to this is yes, but the others should hear it from Splinter.
Why the new form? - they're mostly curious about this one. Like why didn't he turn back into his old mutant form?
Does he know why he's not passed on? - the answer to this is he has absolutely no clue. He may assume it was because Shredder was still alive, but he didn't know that until only a few days before they did, so it's unlikely.
What should they do with his body? - it's still going to be at the bottom of that pit and it's been weeks. And even though he's still with them, his kids don't feel right just leaving his body there. They want to give him a proper burial
Are there any ghost things they should know about?
How did he know Shredder was alive? Did he just get a bad feeling or a vision or what? - this one will be difficult to answer. Not because he doesn't want to tell them or doesn't know himself, but because it'll make him emotional and that makes his ghost powers act up/ he starts melting (a certain someone paid him a ghost visit. He's missed her.)
Has he always been this reckless and stupid or is it a ghost thing? - Casey Jones maintains that this is a good question and he has a point. Also, Donnie wanted to ask it, but felt he couldn't. Also also, he got Splinter to laugh, so you can't be annoyed with him Leo. The question is rat dad approved!
They also tell him everything they haven't already. Hits include:
Raph got turned into a plant at the Farmhouse.
Actually all the horrible stuff at the Farmhouse, including Mom-Thing
Leo's heart stopped in space.
And we've already seen you die at least once! No we don't mean when Shredder threw you into the sewers. We went back in time 6 months because he killed you when the Triceratons invaded. Also the planet was destroyed by a blackhole and we were the only survivors.
The kids are all getting a hug for the last one. Splinter isn't a physically affectionate person under normal circumstances, but that's so much worse than what he thought had happened. Also, it's either he hugs them or he goes into his room and stares at the wall thinking about how his kids have already seen him get violently murdered once. Like how are you supposed to react to that?
It's ends up being an incredibly long conversation, and goes on well past they thought it would. By the end of it, they're all emotionally drained and decide to skip patrol that night. Karai, Casey and April end up staying over - it's too late for Casey and April to go home without getting some sleep and Karai wants to be with family.

"Look, I'm sorry I'm running late but I could've been on time or I could have gossip, but not both so..."
April turned a pout onto Raph, who glared at her from her bathroom doorway, blurry because she only had one contact in at present, but still *clearly* more interested than pissed.
"Okay, fine." He rolled his eyes and admitted he was as nosy as any of them, "What else happened? These are the bitches that made you cry, right?"
"Just the once!" And she was still kind of enbarrassed about it. Okay, really embarrassed about it she had to admit, staring at her partially blurry and pink face in the mirror. She sighed. "So, anyway, Jennifer is screaming her head off at Karai wanting to know who she thinks she is what she thinks she's doing-"
"And Casey is just eating this up, right?" Raph laughs, moving into the bathroom to lean back against the counter, shuck his elbow pads and wraps, and pick up a bottle of lotion to pop the cap and sniff.
"Like its candy on Halloween." She confirms with a snort, carefully placing her second contact and blinking to make sure it settled in place and remembering the smug smile she'd seen on Casey's (still somewhat battered) face in the distance. "Karai's got her arms around him, he's got his arms around her, they just got interrupted while sucking face- oh shut up, don't even with me." She scoffed at his fake gagging and so he just grinned and winked at her. "*Anyway*, Jennifer comes up yelling about her being an interfering bitch because apparently he and *I* are supposedly dating-"
"Since when??" Raph sneered, setting the one lotion down and picking up another.
"Well we spend a lot of time together since we've been friends with you and your brothers since high school." April grumbled, "Oh, and *we live together.* Apparently we couldn't just be close friends, no our entire campus thought we were dating." She shuddered at the thought because as much as she loved Casey like family...he was gross. And she lived with him so she knew exactly how gross. Watching Raph, she knelt to pull her next stash of scented lotions from under the sink, still in the bag from the store and offered them with a smile. He didn't even flinch, just accepted and started sorting through them. She expected Mikey along soon to go through them next. "Anyway, she comes up ranting at Karai, yelling her head off and calling her some really nasty names and well- you know Karai.."
She trailed off with a purposeful grin and Raph met her eyes and grinned back, already shaking his head, "If I know my sister, she hit the bitch in the face."
"Right in the face!" April laughed, having never seen such a fast strike, not even from one of the guys during a fight. It had been lightspeed and fueled by embarrassment and unbridled righteous fury. Karai's entire demeanor had gone from relaxed and happy to seething rage in 2.5 seconds. As soon as the word "bitch" had hit her ears. "Broke her nose. Blood everywhere."
"Any police or security or whatever get involved?" Raph mumbled, pouring a lotion he liked into his hand and rubbing it in along his arms. In seconds, the bathroom smelled faintly of "Champagne Toast" and April made a note to buy herself another bottle because she'd never see this one again. "You didn't bail and leave them to get arrested or anything?"
"Nah, there was a crowd there to tell campus police that the hit was provoked and deserved."
"Good. So, why the hell were these idiots trying so hard to set you up with all those schmucks if they thought you were dating Casey?"
"To get me away from Casey because Jennifer's been after him since freshman year, I guess."
Raph paused to stare at her, a curious look on his face that quickly turned to distaste, "Why?"
April laughed. "He's friendly and popular. He's the captain of the hockey team and he's always a good guy to everyone. *Plus* all tastes aside, most of the campus population thinks he's really hot."
"That's a lot of taste to put aside."
"Shut up, you don't count cause you don't like humans."
"I count *more* cause I don't like humans." Raph snorted with a cheeky smirk, making sure he had the lotion rubbed in well before sniffing himself and smiling, pleased. "And you don't like humans either. Oh, and I'm stealing this."
"I figured." She chuckled, "I'll buy you a full set for Christmas."
"Two. Plus two extra lotions."

Things I noticed about TMNT 2012’s ships are that they weren’t strong at all. April x Donnie had so many ups and downs I still don’t know what to think of it considering one moment she’s ignoring his feelings and then the next kissing him. Leo x Karai, they are literally portrayed as siblings yet still enforced as a ship?? Raph x Mona is good just they we’re already kissing the episode they met. And Mikey x Renet is a HUGE age gap (seriously) and him with shinigami prevented her Character growth
Honestly all the ships were written badly. You totally nailed them!
April and Donnie is toxic. Plain and simple. Ain’t an argument out there that can justify and explain why she toys with his feelings and manipulates him to her advantage. And like, Donnie isn’t innocent either. He’s stalking her, objectifying her, obsessing over her. I don’t get why it’s the fan favorite.
Leo and Karai stared out OK, but once they introduced Karai as Miwah and revealed she was his SISTER, it should have ended right there. After that, Karai seemed to lose her autonomy too. Her mutation into a human-snake hybrid had little to no effect on the story after the arc ended. Karai was also... never around later on.
Raph and Mona Lisa wasn’t terrible starting out. It moved too fast but it could have been good. What gets me is the moment Raph realizes he likes her—they’re in the middle of a fight and she punches him or whatever, and he stumbles back before saying “wow, I’ve never been hit like that before. It felt kinda... good.” It’s... it gave me weird vibes.
And Mikey... even just the fact that there’s two pisses me off. Opinions aside, if he was dating Renet, he shouldn’t be flirting with Shinigami. I don’t understand why they’d introduce that element, it robbed Shinigami of any autonomy. But back to your point, Anon, Renet and Mikey have a huge age gap and their “long distance relationship” would wreck the space-time continuum.

The Last Ronin pt 2 spoilers review n stuff. Plz don’t read if you don’t want like....all the spoilers.
So if this is going where I think it is I’m really excited!! It seems to be leaning heavy on Mirage (which we knew it would) where they have a truce between Foot and Hamato in City at War. That gets broken and all hell broke loose. Though Karai has a son who is keeping her alive in this one, not a daughter that gets killed during the war.  Not sure how that will pan out .
We also get April’s daughter, Casey Marie Jones (and we also learn she lost her arm and leg) . It’s not clear exactly what the history is though. According to pt 1 Mikey left after ‘the big thing’ about ten years back and that was the last time he saw April (thinking her dead).  Casey is clearly late teens or early 20s though, so he would have known about her before he left.  I’m guessing when Hiroto said ‘ten years ago’ that’s not exactly accurate because it had to have been at least 20 for Casey to be the age she is.  But is Casey actually April and Casey’s daughter? Seems like it because we see them just engaged in the flashbacks. That’s a neat twist, but who knows.  Karai must have had Hiroto much earlier than Casey came along because it sounds like he was there when whatever the ‘big thing’ is happened.
Look at this derp face meeting Casey :D
Tumblr media
Oh my GOSH this comic is so good with pacing. The first one was such a nonstop heart pounding thriller and this one totally steps back and tells the story.  You know, except for that nonstop heart pounding bit in the middle where Raph goes bezerker on the Foot, killing soooo many of them in a blind rage just to get to Karai OMG. And just the whole......ugh water thing and the last moment of stabbing each other at the same time *cry*.  This is *exactly* how I would see Raph going out. Full blinding rage and fury because the Foot killed Splinter (or did they????) It was so simple and quick though. It was over so fast I found myself wanting more to it, but it was just a flashback I suppose. It couldn’t take up half the book. It did fit Raphael though - going out in a full blaze of glory.
Back to the lair - holy crap the mention that his mutation is ‘progressing’ to explain why he’s so much bigger, stronger and very much not dead because he’s healing so fast (MNTG anyone????)  Seriously he fell face first on the street from the tallest building in New York (seems like, but at the very least it was a damn skyscraper). He even says it would’ve killed him when he was younger.
Also Hiroto is f’ing savage.
And then we get the whole ‘where has he been?’ question answered and is just breaks my heart. Poor Mikey is so done he literally lays down and just doesn’t get back up but his mutant body wouldn’t die. Excuuuuse me what now?  This sunshine boy has been through enough but nope not his time yet.  So he just....goes off by himself (Mikey alone for so long??) for few years until he gets pissed that people are cruel and goes on to master alllllll the martial arts and comes back ready to do his family right. *sniff*  Our baby boy grew up and got some clarity. It suits him but it’s his only purpose. Period. Kill Hiroto and die doing it. It makes me sad (but also damn he got some uber skills and maturity now!). His chat with Casey shows that he really did grow up and learn some of those life lessons Splinter gave him in the book.
Then we get the big reveal of Pt 2 which I did NOT see coming but woooohooooa I’m 1000% invested O_O.  I’ll leave that one there so this isn’t total spoilers......
Anyway can we appreciate April’s ‘casual conversation’ faces?  I love old April so much!!

A Year Without - Part Four
Tumblr media
Warning: Blood and slight smut
With no windows or clock on the wall you had no idea how much time had passed since you were left alone crying and broken. Your wrists and ankles were sore and tingling from the restricted blood flow. You hoped there wouldn’t be lasting damage to your nerve endings. The foul smear Karai had left of your cheek had dried long ago making your skin itch. Then the thought of the other turtles came to mind, how long before Raph, Mikey and Don realized you were missing? You usually came down to the lair almost every day but there had been times you didn’t show up for a few days being busy with work.
Did you even want them to find you? If they came looking for you, they could be captured and end up just like Leo and then SHE would have the complete set of mutant turtles. She would have them and their unique set of skills at her disposal and that would spell disaster for the city.  A croaking sob broke free at the sobering thought.  You wouldn’t let that happen not if you had breath in your body.
You had searched the room thoroughly looking for any way to escape, but besides the chair and metal table there no other useful items. You had been trying to work the rope hoping it would start to fray but as of right now there was no such luck. You had to wait until an opportunity presented itself. You were far from helpless but nowhere near the skill of the guys either. They had been training you and that’s how you fell in love with Leo.
As the time slowly ticked by, fatigue started to creep up on your weary body. You were emotional drained, and the stress of today’s events started to take hold. Your eyes started to droop, and your body began to give way to the darkness of exhausted slumber. The room blurred and blackened the edges of your vision and slowly you finally gave in falling deep into sleeps clutches.
The rustling of fabric alerted you to a presence in your room. Blinking yourself awake your eyes tried focusing in on your unwanted guest. As the dark blur in the corner started to come clear you felt your chest tighten and your heart hammer into your chest. There sprawled out on the large chair in the corner was Leonardo, tight dense legs spread wide stroking his cock over the material of his pants. His feet were bare and was unarmed, dressed in what seemed to be soft black cotton sleeping pants. Leo’s dull eyes were hooded and his mouth agape vocalizing his self-indulgent pleasure, the sight alone made your treasonous body ache with need.
“Leo?” the words flew from your mouth on instinct and you scolded yourself on being so eager to see him here alone with you. Without Karai and her alluring whims.
Now aware of your consciousness Leo rose from his perch and crossed the room in only a few strides of his long legs. Leonardo stopped a few inches from you his eyes dragging over your restrained form his intentions still unknown. Leaned into your personal space he took a long pull of your scent as his hand still working his apparent erection through his pants. You heard the moister pop on his lips when they parted and shivered unintentionally when the hot breath of his mouth cascaded down the exposed column of your throat. “Why do you smell so good to me and why can’t I get you out of my head?” his voice was raspy and decadent erecting goose bumps along your skin. “I’ll let you in on a little secret.” He continued his lips brushing up against your ear. “I couldn’t cum inside Karai until I looked up and imagined it was you beneath me. I’ve never had that problem before.”
You tried not to let his presence affect you, this wasn’t your Leo, this was someone dangerous and calculating, a new enemy to fear. “That’s because you were mine and I was yours before you were captured, and your brain rewired a new ago. We looked for you, mourned for you and never gave up. When I was taken, I was on the roof you disappeared on, something told me to go there.” You growled your displeasure snapping your binds again.
His tongue clicked in the back of his throat and the large terrapin griped your wrist examining your overly tight restraints. Green fingertips dug under the taut ropes loosening them just enough to relieve the crippling pressure. Deliberately slow the terrapin moved to each of your limbs to repeat the gesture allowing the blood to flow properly to your extremities. Kneeing down his hands took extra care with your ankles and paused just between your legs. You watched his tongue dart out to moisten his lips and gasped as his expansive hands glided leisurely up your calves to the back of your knees. There, the tips of his fingers pressed into the back of your thighs groping and massaging the toned muscles before continuing up your legs.
“W-what are you doing?”
His hands ceased their ascent at your words and hummed rising back to his full height towering over you.
“I wouldn’t recommend doing that again with your restraints. That will be the only time I assist you.”
“Why did you do it in the first place? You could have let me suffer?”
A rumbling laugher left his chest as Leo stepped forward pressing his hard body into yours. You could feel the still ridged outline of his cock digging into your inner thigh. He rocked his hips forward gaining a bit of friction and slid his arm around your waist. “I don’t want you to lose those fingers; I might require their assistance later.” And with that Leo stepped back out of your personal space and exited the room leaving you alone and burning from his touch.
The next several hours were long and arduous, they had sent in three guards to assist you to use the rest room, well pissing in a bucket was more accurate. At least they didn’t make you soil yourself in shame. But that was the existent of their generosity, by the loud rumbling of your stomach and the dessert that lay within your mouth it had been a substantial amount of time since you had consumed any nourishment. The food you could technically live without for a few days but water, your body needed hydration. The back of your skull was beginning to throb and nausea had set it making you a miserable mess.
You tried to sleep to pass the time, you were going stir crazy, and no one came or went for hours accept when you hollered to use the bucket. But even that was becoming far and few between with your dehydration. Eventually your body relented and you nodded off into blissful dreamless sleep, but it was short lived when the door to your room slammed open and Karai stomped in pulling a smirking Leonardo in after her.
“What did you do to him?” she growled menacingly at you as her fingers hooked into his waist band shaking his hips with vigor.
Confused and slightly amused by her current state of frustration you tilted your head in question looking at your arms and legs. “Um… I’m afraid I have no idea what you’re talking about? If you have forgotten already I’ve been lock up in this makeshift cell for god knows how long. How could I have done anything to your new mindless plaything?”
Shoving him away forcefully Karai stomped over to you. “He won’t get hard for me anymore! I want him to fuck me and he can’t get that fucking hammer to perform! Just, just watch!” She curled her finger beckoning him over and the muscle bound terrapin obliged without hesitation.
Immediately Karai sunk to her knees and swiftly undid his belt and pants and true to her word his shaft lay limp at a wet noodle. Her fingers sought out the base of his manhood and started to stimulate it but it refused to cooperate. Frustrated air shot forth from her nose and her lips enclosed around the bulbous head and sucked him into the warm cavern of her mouth. Sloppy suction sounds and slurps made the desperate spectacle more amusing. Even her shitty blowjob couldn’t get him aroused. Now it was your turn to laugh, a deep gut wrenching laughter that echoed throughout the room. “Serves you right you manipulative bitch!” another cackle flew from your lips but was quickly silenced by a brutal punch from the angered kunoichi. Every ounce of oxygen was expelled from your lungs and you started gasping to replenish what you lost.
For being as small as she was, Karai could land a hit with the best of them. Fury raged in her beautiful green eyes as she rose to address you. Her hand found your hair and yanked snapping your head back in a painful angle. Without you knowing she had pulled her blade free and slid the razor sharp metal along your throat slicing your tender flesh open.
You let out a startled yep as the pain lanced through your body and felt the hot flood of your own blood ooze down your neck. Out of the corner of your eye you saw Leo twitch and take a tentative step towards you, eyes concentrating on the oozing fresh wound on your neck. You couldn’t tell how deep she had cut only that it hurt like hell and the whole right side of your neck was now warm and sticky.
“You’re lucky you’re still useful to me you stupid cunt!” she hissed in your ear. “The other turtles will come looking for you eventually. Yes I know about the tracker in your arm, very clever of Donatello but his genius will lead them all into a trap and when they do I’ll have them all. I can’t wait to see if the rest of them are just as good in the sack as their leader? I can only imagine the size of the cock on Raphael, I’m sure it will be gloriously painful.” Then without warning Karai surged forward and look a long board lick of your pooling blood. Her eyes closed and savored the taste licking the unconsumed droplets of the crimson liquid from the sides of her mouth.
When her legs ground together and moaned it was a sign she was getting off on the taste of your blood, it made you sick to your stomach but when she turned to Leonardo and pulled him down for a searing kiss you couldn’t help the whimper that made its way from your lungs.
His mouth worked feverously over hers the crimson color smearing over their lips while allowing her hand to dip once again down his plastron to gather his cock in her hands. A growl erupted from his chest when Karai began to yank on the appendage that still refused to thicken with arousal.
“God damnit!” her mouth ripped from his and stormed from the room leaving him alone with you still exposed and swinging heavily to the cool air.
You were beginning to feel woozy from blood loss and the throb in the back of your skull intensified ten fold.  Leo waivered a bit adjusting his weight between his two feet before reaching into his pocket and pulled a rag from the depths. Pressing down on your open wound Leo started to wipe the thick blood from your skin.
“I need to kill you.” He whispered darkly into your ear as his warm tongue swirling against your earlobe. “If I don’t I’ll never please my mistress again and I won’t be able to if I can only get hard for you.”
When something brushed against your leg your lungs quit working. Slowly your eyes cast down to Leonardo’s erect cock seeping pearlescent droplets of precum from the pulsating helm.

Introductions
Submerged AU rising from the dead because @rhi-draws-things needed some good good content of Casey and the boys.
(Refresher: gist of the AU is that the Kraang accidentally flooded the earth prior to canon and made it unusable for terraforming. Now NYC is mostly underwater, everyone lives on boats, and most days are spent peacefully diving/fishing or getting up to regular teen shenanigans.)
AU Karai ref. AO3 version.
Casey hefts the bucket of fish bones, balancing it on his hip so he can unlatch the door and push it open. The cool nighttime air gusts inside as he steps out, and Casey walks away from his home towards the other end of the dockway. The buoyant path linking all the surrounding houseboats rises and falls subtly under his bare feet, the ocean calm tonight.
Casey hums as he reaches the edge, holding the bucket out and tipping it to spill the bones into the dark water. Except something suddenly surfaces right where he’s aiming the bucket.
“Casey!” exclaims Leo, and Casey yanks the heavy bucket back just in time that he avoids dumping fish gunk on his friend. Unfortunately, the bucket is heavy and his luck isn’t having it tonight. His grip on the slimy plastic slips and fish bones spill onto the dockway.
“Uh oh,” says Mikey, joining Leo in poking his head out of the water. Donnie and Raph emerge as well, clear eyelids blinking away the saltwater in their eyes.
“Guys- c’mon!” Casey says, shaking a skeleton off his foot in disgust. “What the hell, I’m gonna have to clean that all up!”
“Sorry,” Leo apologizes sincerely, “but you were the closest person and we really need help.”
Casey forgets the fish bones for a moment, coming back to the edge and kneeling down. “What’s up?” he asks, a bit worried despite his casual tone. Then he frowns, seeing the dockway lights shining on cuts and bruises the brothers have. “Hey, you guys look a little rough. Something happen?”
“We, uh… well,” Leo starts, looking sheepish. “It’s a bit complicated.”
The water underneath the dockway suddenly rises, making Casey wobble a little. “How so?” he asks, steadying himself with a hand.
“It’s not complicated,” Raph interjects before Leo can continue. He’s got a serious shiner and an annoyed scowl. “We got basically spent the whole day getting beat up by a snake.”
“Wh- a snake? Like, a mutant one?”
“The fuck other kind of snake could do this to us?”
“Jesus,” Casey says. “That’s pretty kickass, I guess. If no one got hurt, right?”
“We’re fine,” Mikey assures him, giving a bright smile with a split lip. “Just sore and hungry.”
“Are you here for food? ‘cause we got some leftovers inside,” Casey says, jerking a thumb at his family’s restaurant houseboat behind him. The dockway rises and falls sharply again, which is getting kind of annoying and worrying. Maybe there’s a storm on the way? The clouds are wrong, though…
“Food would be good,” Mikey sighs longingly. “I’m starving.”
“Pen and paper is needed first, though,” Donnie says seriously.
“Uh, why?”
“Our friend needs it so she can tell us her name,” Leo explains, which doesn’t explain much at all.
Casey raises his eyebrows in interest anyway. “You guys make a new friend before or after the snake fight?” he asks, smile quirking his lips. The brothers could use more friends, seeing as they’re only willing to interact with Casey and April, and neither of them has managed to convince the four turtles to show themselves to the population of New York. Their phobia of people is a stubborn one.
“After!” Mikey cheers. He grabs Leo in a side hug, splashing Casey’s knees. “Leo sweet-talked her into it.”
“I didn’t s- sweet-talk her, jeez,” Leo says in a mumble. His brothers chuckle and elbow him, teasing their teal scaled sibling.
“So, where’s this lady of yours?” Casey asks gamely, grinning at Leo’s embarrassment. The dockway surges underneath him again, forcing Casey to steady himself with both hands and triggering a weird feeling in the back of his head. A shivery ‘something is wrong’ feeling.
“She came with us,” Donnie says, as the water around him and his brothers churns. And as he delivers that calm statement, something big rises out of the water right behind them.
Casey gapes for a moment at the giant fucking snake his friends have brought to his doorstep. Then it opens its mouth and hisses viciously and Casey yelps, scrambling backwards from the edge of the dockway.
“Ah, it’s okay!” Mikey calls out. “We told her you’re our friend! That’s just how she talks. Kinda.”
The giant sea snake makes another hiss, followed by a sound that seems like it wants to be an actual word, but can’t fully form into one. Casey’s lifetime of being taught to fear a sea snake’s bite is rearing its head, causing sweat to bead his brow and his heart to race.
“You shitting me?” he asks, staring at the snake mutant. It- she stares right back, luminous green eyes pining him with a gaze that’s got just an edge of feral. Kinda like the ones the brothers sometimes have.
“If only,” Raph grumbles, leaning on the dockway with his elbows. “This’d be a lot simpler if it were just a prank.”
“I second that,” Donnie says with a longsuffering sigh.
“Um, Casey? I know it’s a lot,” Leo speaks up, “but could you skip being shocked and just go get a pen and paper? We’d- well, she’d like it if we could call her by her actual name, instead’ve just saying ‘you’ or ‘Miss Snake’.”
The snake mutant, though she still looks pissed off, bobs her head once in agreement. Casey runs a hand through his loose hair, feeling its long strands tangling after a hot and sweaty day.
“Uh, sure,” he says, shaking off his shock about the whole situation. “I’ll. Just go get those…”
The brothers are sitting on the dockway when Casey comes back, legs folded and scales glistening with seawater. Their usual weapons are present, but- Donnie’s spear has been broken at the tip, Raph is definitely down a couple knives, Mikey is missing his fishing net, and Leo seems to have lost one of his swords. Plus, with them out of the water, Casey can see the full extent of the injuries they garnered fighting with the snake mutant looming over them all.
Of course, the snake herself looks a tad banged up, too. Looks like the damage was all very mutual, until things got worked out.
“Okay,” Casey announces, sitting down next to his friends. “I hope you guys use my dad’s notebook wisely, ‘cause paper isn’t cheap.”
“We just need one page,” Leo assures him, taking the pad and pen. He turns his head, looking up at the serpent with jaws big enough she could swallow a small child whole. Leo smiles at said serpent. “Alright, like Donnie explained, I’m going to go through the alphabet letter by letter. Hiss, or, do whatever you want to whenever I hit a letter of your name in order. Ready?”
The snake mutant huffs impatiently.
“I figured,” Leo chuckles. He clears his throat, touching the pen to a blank page of the tiny notebook. “A, B, C, D …”
It goes on like that until Leo hits K, and the snake mutant hisses loudly. Casey’s arms have goosebumps and his heart is skipping all over the place, and it’s kind of great. She’s wickedly scary, teeth designed for piercing, a deadly bite to boot, and a long sinuous body that’s powerful enough to shake the dockway as she gets excited over the first letter of her name- god damn. There aren’t many mutants around this size or strength. Casey would not (totally would) want to be the guy caught in the water with Miss Snake or whoever she is.
(He would probably die trying to take her on, but fuck. What a way to go, battling a giant seas serpent.)
“K?” Leo is saying excitedly. The snake mutant bobs her head yes. He writes the letter down hastily, and keeps on going with the alphabet for the next one.
Five letters later, and the snake shakes her head vehemently as Leo tries to start again. Leo looks confused for a moment, then lights up with a smile. “Oh! Is that it? Is this your name?”
The snake bobs her head.
Casey then ends up shoving slickly wet limbs out of the way so he can see the notebook, too. Leo gets squished by all four observers crowding in, little growling clicks coming from the back of his throat with his irritation.
“God, guys, I was gonna read it out!” Leo snaps, elbowing everyone he can reach. Casey is shoved away, just like the rest of the brothers, but not before he sees what Leo has written in tight, painstakingly careful boxy letters.
Karai
“Karai,” Leo says aloud, still smiling at the snake leaning over them all. “That’s a really cool sounding name. It’s nice to meet you, Karai.”
“Hey, Karai!” Mikey tacks on, as Raph mutters a, “Hi, again,” and Donnie adds politely clipped, “Hello.”
“Sup,” Casey says, waving a hand. Karai regards them all with her wide green eyes, examining them for something, and then huffs.
She makes a softer hiss than any of the ones she’s made before, followed by something that’s nearly a word. Casey is pretty sure it’s supposed to be a hello. He grins.
So cool. Four quirky turtles who are weirdo recluses, and now a giant deadly sea snake. Casey’s friend group hasn’t ever been this colorful before, even with April and Irma as buddies.
“So, hey, Dee?” Casey asks, catching the attention of the least occupied brother, while the other three are focused on Karai. “How’d you all meet anyway?”
“Oh yeah, I don’t think we got a chance to tell you or April.” Donnie crosses his arm, letting out a resigned sigh. “We interrupted a deal between pirates, mostly on accident, since we were tracking a shipment of mutagen. It was supposed to be an in and out operation, but SOME PEOPLE-” he says loudly, shooting a look at Raph, “-can’t be damn well bothered to remember common manners!”
“We live in a tunnel system!” Raph protests snappishly. “How was I supposed to learn that shutting doors is what’s polite when we don’t have fucking doors?”
“It didn’t even matter if it was polite, you left the door wide open, which was unusual for a tightly knit band of pirates who always kept that door shut, which in turn alerted them to our presence and ruined the whole plan!”
“Shut up! Leo already bitched at me, you can’t, too!”
“So where’s Karai factor into all this?” Casey asks in a bemused voice, because Raph and Donnie are literally just hissing at each other now and that’s always hilarious. Donnie snaps something clicky and sharp and definitely turtle-speak for something or other at Raph. one last parting shot, then smooths his metaphorical ruffled feathers, clearing his throat.
“She was the leader of the pirates looking to purchase the mutagen,” Donnie says. Casey raises one eyebrow and glances up at Karai.
Snake mouths aren’t really meant for scowling, but Karai is somehow pulling the sullen look off anyway.
“And in the chaos of you being discovered,” Casey says, filling in all the gaps, “Karai got a dose of mutagen?”
Karai flashes her mouthful of sharp teeth, hissing balefully. She turns and dives into the ocean, black and white body vanishing into the depths. Leo winces and then sighs.
“Try not to talk about it too much,” Leo says, rubbing the back of his neck. “She’s only been a mutant for a few days and she’s still adjusting. We only just got her to calm down and listen about how we didn’t drop that canister.”
“It was just the guy I punched,” Mikey says, shrugging. “He totally wiped out and then the canister went rolling all over the place and people kept kicking it, which was majorly stupid, wow, and it ended up getting shattered right on Karai. Total accident, totally not our fault.”
A wave abruptly crashes down all them all, courtesy of the tail smacking against the surface of the water. Casey spits out seawater and curses, trying to sort out his now soaking hair, which is sticking everywhere and making it feel impossible.
Raph wipes his face off, flicking the water away. “An accident, yes. Don’t mean she’s gonna forgive us for interrupting her black market shopping spree just yet.”
“At least she’s not trying to kill us anymore?” Leo says with a weakly light tone, to which his brother roll their eyes. Casey drags a strand of hair off his face and flicks it backwards, huffing with a grin.
Never a dull moment with the brothers. Casey can’t wait until April gets a load of this new misadventure. It has teeth, a pissy attitude, and is apparently pirate related, too.
Casey definitely wants in. But first.
“Okay, great talk everyone, fun sharing session,” Casey says, standing up, hands on his hips. “Now who wants the good broom and who wants the shitty broom? Because you’re definitely helping clean up the garbage you made me drop, plus since you just ruined my dad’s notebook.”
The brothers groan, but mumble agreements to the return of a favor. The water by the dockway swells with a long dark shape moving underneath it, not straying too far, but unwilling to surface right now. Casey takes the dripping notebook from Leo to set out to dry inside, and heads in to get the brooms as well. Practically whistling, despite the fact that he’s dripping wet.

Not gonna lie
I Am just venting, it’s fine if you don’t agree(I can’t back up every comment, just let me be mad, and dont take my bitterness seriously and focus on the positive things I mention )
In the end this is a rant of “why people don’t care about this specific thing I care about” so yea.. I am aware, move on if you don’t agree, thank you
It kinda pisses me off how people want characters like Casey, karai and even Monalisa (?) to come back but not Irma
While I see why (and yes I also want to see them) it also frustrate me that nobody cares about Irma ..
Casey has always been in the show, I get it, he is a fun character, a classic character and would be a nice addition for sure.
Karai got more presence thanks to 2012 and I am glad for that. and I want her in 2018 as well !
Monalisa...I don’t know man, she was cute in te 80s show . But she was just in one episode.. and let’s be honest she was just in 2012 to fill a love interest for Raphael (Need to mention that the Fandom manage to do content with Mona Lisa that I Actually enjoyed ! )so no, I don’t hate her and I wouldn’t mind her being part in the new show
I just feel people just want the same over and over again... we get new villains and people still whines about shredder (granted , he is going to be in the show )
It just bug me that Irma isn’t mentioned as much cause she didn’t got a chance in 2012,(or the live actions movies.. or 2003...etc) otherwise I am sure a lot of people would be interested in her coming back... i guess my problem it’s that people keep asking for the same characters and makes me feel that Irma won’t get a spot ..

[Foot Casey and Karai]
As soon as he had a second, he geared up; Casey had a plan, one that would definitely get him killed, but he'd do it if it meant even one of the Turtles found freedom. He just had to talk to someone before he started doing, whatever plan he ends up coming up with.
Heading to Karai's room, he doesn't bother knocking, throwing open the door. Hockey stick in hand, mask on as he looks at her, he breathes heavily, that known rage burning,
"I won our bet Rai," He gets straight to the point, "An' I know what I wan' - yer gonna help me break the Turtles outta 'ere."
| Muse Interaction [part 1][part 2]
There was a lot of buzz going around the foot right now. From mere amazement over Casey's success to actually succeeding in his mission success. To talk about how they have the turtles captured and stored away in cells. Karai could hear all sorts of whispering working around the place as she made her way through the building she had been there as well when the turtles were captured. Clearly unable to get free, when the truth finally came out and Casey reveled the whole plan to them. How he never was on their side, how it was nothing more but a trick all for Shredder's plan.
And how he spoke to Raphael.
Why did that land such an unsettling feeling to her shoulders. Karai knew the plan, hell she was pissed Casey got trusted with this over herself. Karai made sure Casey kept on track with this whole plan after as well because she wasn't going let him screw the whole scheme up for their father. Who was she trying to kid sure some of that was true but Karai didn't do it as if she was babysitting her brother. Sure they fought, sure he got under her skin, sure he was a menace, sure he was nothing but a pain in her neck. Casey was her brother however, someone she would sneak out to see hockey games. Someone she and Angel would rope into doing whatever they wanted. Karai even loved watching him and Shin fight a bit because he had to make sure Shin wasn't getting Karai into any trouble. Casey would sit and let Angel 'make him pretty' even too. Those rare moment they hung out the two of them and he didn't annoy her. Secrets kept between them never needing to be ask to be. Then seeing him back there, looking down at the turtles talking as he was. That wasn't Casey.
She knows it was for their father's sake, because she knew Casey's secret he loved Raphael, hell she banked her most prized weapon that he grew attached to the whole Hamato clan even. They were raised to believe they were the enemy that Hamato Yoshi was this evil demon and if he raised those turtles they had to be as well. Karai already was wavering on this fact herself, on if what the foot stood was was even right to began with. Things she had to think about because it was hers to inherit one day. And at one time sure she had no issue with how they ran things, she didn't care about her fathers vendetta at best she found it annoying how fixated he was on the whole thing. Listening to Casey though, thats how they are all meant to be isn't it? That's how they were already?
Karai had finally reached her room in what felt like years it took, from when she snaked her way into the holding area where they had all the turtles. Seemed she wasn't the only one Angel needing to make threats towards the red banded turtle of the group. Listening to what he had to say how he claimed to hate Casey now. Part of of her felt a twinge at that. Sympathy. Was it towards the turtle or her her brother though? Karai just wasn't sure. This just wasn't right and she knew it wasn't right. She knew how Casey acted wasn't right, it wasn't him! Karai often got after him for needing to be serious and whatever but seeing Casey like that? Seeing him being so cruel.
Walking towards her vanity, she let herself slump into her seat. Head falling into her hands as she was just trying to sort through all the thoughts going through her head right now. Karai was basically raised to be the next Shredder. She had always fallen in line. She knew the way of the clan she had to keep them be a prime example. So why was her mind so filled with memories? They won! she should be proud of what Casey seemed able to pull off in the end, and yet? Eye shifted to the green and pupils into slits she went to shake her head, trying to clear her thoughts. If she let herself lose her grip from overworked emotions.
Head snapping to the sound of her door slamming to the wall, and her eyes stuck to their more snake apperence. So much for that.
"Casey what the hell!-" she let's her words die in the air as she takes a look at her brother. All geared up with the hockey pads and stick even and skull painted mask pulled over his face. Didn't stop her from being able to hear the sound of his breath, bounce off the plastic of the mask he wore. Face falling a bit as she took over his whole stance right now. Casey looked ready to start a war from hiw he was gripping the hockey stick in his hands. It been a good time since she seen him this mad. "Cae?" She offer moving to stand up from her seat.
"I won our bet Rai,"
"Bet?" She questioned back slow to recall when this all began, that’s right she made a bet with him hadn't she? Okay so what did that have todo with his current state? Recalling hiw he was back with father slightly made a seed of worry plant in the back if her head, narrowing her eyes a moment as she stood tall now. "Yeah and what is it you want then?"
"An' I know what I wan' - yer gonna help me break the Turtles outta 'ere."
Nothing but slience filled her room as she started blankly at her brother, he eyes slowly to blink and return to the more human. Lifting a arm slowly possibly git for any number of weapon she stash on herself. Her Wakizashi, shurikins maybe even but instead her hand moves to cover her mouth when she's started to laugh. The motion made to moffle out the sound as she fall back down on her chair. Near falling right off the thing as she threw her bath hands over her mouth to keep from brusting into the laugh that was rocking through her form. Tears pickling at the corners of her eyes.
She wasn't laughing at Casey, though in all truth, this sudden decision might be something to laugh over. Or at in general considering the risks. No, it was relief. Casey was still Casey at the end. He wasn't going to let their father suddenly change him into the curel person he pretended to be before. He saw someone in trouble that he cared for and was crazy enough to do something about it. Once she worked her laugh out from her she wiped at an eye and looked at him, smiling a little softer than she wanted to be in that very moment.
"You really are in love that turtle aren't you nut case?" She turns her head to the side a moment as she lower fingers to tap at her chin a moment. "It's not going to be easy you knkw father is going to make sure they are surcure I got in there just fine but sneaking four turtles out? Getting out at all isn't going to be easy." She moved to stand and walled over to him.
"Look if we're doing this we have to do it now and we have to do it fast. Thar means no arguing no questioning my orders got it? " Grabbing at his arm and already pulling him so theu could get out "I'll cover you, so you can get in but once your all out...just keep going no matter what got it!"
She demands then offers a smirk his way "what I did say no questions asked righ?"

Callie Reviews: TMNT 2012 Season 2 (Part Two)
Continuing from Part One
The Shift (Episodes 15-18)
Tumblr media
After a silly filler episodes that you LARP-ers will probably enjoy, the plot continues in I Think His Name is Baxter Stockman. Finally fed up with Stockman’s incompetence, Shredder triggers the mutagen collar and Stockman is turned into a fly mutant. But he gets the idea to mutate himself with... I really don’t fully understand the plan. To put it simply, he plans to kidnap April due to her unique DNA and have them mutated together to restore his humanity. Such a sound and totally not insane plan!
Tumblr media
So part of the season has had Donnie trying to develop a retro-mutagen, a mutagen antidote that will revert the person back into a human. He finally succeeds and has two batches, one for April’s dad and the other or Splinter. The gang goes to get April’s dad, leading to Stockman finding them and kidnapping April. Although April tries to escape, even whacking Stockman with her tessen, she ultimately tied over the mutagen. One of the vials got broken, so Splinter tells Donnie to use the one that’s left to cure Kirby. As Leo, Donnie, and Casey go to save April, Raph and Mikey are sent to find and capture Kirby.
Tumblr media
While April does get dunked into the mutagen, as it turns out due to her DNA she is immune to the effects. So since that plan failed, and really? Did we expect Stockman’s B-rated horror movie plan to work? But yeah, Stockman tries to steal the retro-mutagen with Rhazar soon joining the party! They all escape and meet up with Raph and Mikey, April calming down her father. But Stockman manages to steal the mutagen, forcing a huge aerial chase to get it. Which let me just say that April is awesome this episode. When the vial gets stolen, she rounds up her dad and Casey and goes after it. The vial ends up broken, but like Hell April is going to give up the chance of saving her dad after all the shit form before. She manages to get her dad below it as it drips and he reverts back to normal. Also once she gets freed after being mutagen dunked, she kicks Stockman’s ass hard. Seriously, this episode did a MUCH better job at presenting April as a badass who deserves to fight alongside the Turtles ten times better than The Kraang Conspiracy did.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Kirby is unmutated, yay! But Donnie’s now fresh out of retromutagen. He feels guilty as now he can’t restore Splinter’s humanity, but Splinter makes it clear that he has come to terms with his mutant status and is happy as long as he has his sons. Stockman is brought before Shredder, who has decided to give him one last chance. There is a certain mutant that he wants, and tasks Stockman with creating it for him.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the Foot, we return to the Karai story in The Wrath of Tiger Claw where the kunoichi is having doubts about everything. We also have Tiger Claw return... so what was the point of having the worm swallow him? Anyways, Shredder has him and Karai make a move against the Turtles. After beating intel out of their friend Murakami, Tiger Claw attacks Casey while Karai confronts April. She claims that she doesn’t want to fight, even thinking of turning on Shredder. When Leo and Donnie show up, Leo decides to do what is by no means a bad decision: take Karai to the Lair without questioning if this could be a trap at all! Our fearless leader everyone! Yeah, this is all a ploy by Karai to find the location and she has a tracker so that Tiger Claw will follow suit.
Tumblr media
However with Karai there, Splinter brings her into the dojo and shows her a photo of himself and Tang-Shen. A photo that Karai herself has. When she sees the family portrait, it hammers the revelation in further. She cant believe it, which confuses Leo, so she reveals that it was a trap. But yeah, now Karai has physical evidence, so she now knows the truth. She and the Turtles get out of the sewers and to a butcher shop to lead Tiger Claw away and proceed to fight. Mikey end sup pretty badly beaten up as Karai cements her turn of alligence. Agreed, Tiger Claw knocks her out and takes her back to face Shredder. With Mikey’s injuries, the Turtles can't follow and Raph makes it clear that despite all of this, he still doesn’t trust Karai. Leo is angered by all of this, but ultimately there’s nothing that he can do.
Tumblr media
Karai is brought before Shredder, Tiger Claw revealing her aiding the Turtles. Angered, Karai asks Shredder to tell ehr the truth. So Shredder does just that, revealing that yes, Splinter is her real father. This murders the last bit of lingering doubt in Karai’s mind. So what does Shredder do now that all of his lies are out on the table? He has Tiger Claw throw his so-called ‘daughter’ in the dungeon below! Father of the Year everyone! Oh, but you think all of this is bad! HA! Oh just wait. JUST WAIT.
The Revelations (Episodes 19-24)
Tumblr media
We get three filler episodes after that. The first one is stupid and not worth mentioning other than that I hate it. One involving an arms dealer named Ivan Steranko (who we saw last season in Enemy of My Enemy) and a Tron-esque thief named Anton Zeck. They try to steal Shredder’s helmet, the Turtles get invovled, and Leo tries to use this to bargain for Karai. It fails. Remember those guys names though, it’ll be important next season. The other one is a Kraang plot where Raph gets his mind switched with a Kraang. A fun episode, especially since we get to hear Sean Astin have to talk Kraang-like and it is hilarious. But the episode ends with Raph revealing that the Kraang are about to start another invasion and Donnie revealing a plan for something he’s making to fight back: a mecha!
Tumblr media
We return to the Karai plot with her trying to escape, but she sadly gets re-captured. Shredder, in both this and the previously menitoned episode abotu his helmet, has tried to tell Karai thing slike he was trying to do what was best for her or that how she’s acting is hurting him. You know... like an abuser would talk to someone. The Turtles have mad ea plan, but Splinter has forbidden it as he refuses to lose any of his other kids. Leo goes through with it anyways and it does work. They’re able to break Karai out, fight through the Foot, and get back to the Lair safely. Shredder... takes this surprisingly well. Why? Because he knwos that Karai is going to come back of her own volition to get payback. Of course you would you sick fuck, you raised her to be that way. God I hate Shredder...
Tumblr media
Anyways, Splinter reveals to Karai the full story of what actually happened, including his relationship with Shredder. As it turns out, the Hamato Clan had wiped out the Oroku Clan, but Splinter’s father took pity on young Saki and adopted him into the clan. So Splinter and Shredder were raised as brothers, but things got tense when Splinter got together with Tang-Shen, who Shredder has been with previously, and when Shredder discovered his true heritage. Angered and fulled by vengeance, he and Splinter fought, but Tang-Shen sacrificed herself and took a lethal blow to save her lover. Shredder came out of it disfigured and during the chaos, stole the baby away, lying to her the ame way that the Hamato’s did.
Tumblr media
Learning this on top of everything else, Karai decides to go back and personally finish Shredder. Leo finds out... and asks to go with her, also wanting to put an end to it. Wow Leo, so responsible there... Karai responds by knocking him out. She goes back and she and Shredder have one heck of a brawl, but ultimately Karai gets pinned and Shredder has her taken to Stockman’s lab. Why? Well remember that mutant that he asked Stockman to make Well it involves using Snake DNA in Stockman’s large vat to lure the Turtles in and mutate them into snakes. What do snakes like to eat? Why rats of course! Yeah, Shredder plans to mutate Splinter’s sons and have them devour him. Wow... wow. Does this man have ANY limit to how sick he can be?! Of course not because he ties Karai over it to serve as bait! There is NO WAY that THAT could go wrong in ANY WAY possible!
Tumblr media
The Turtles and Splinter arrive and all but Leo get caught. He reaches Karai... but Shredder attacks him and severs the link. Karai is sent into the vat, turning into a snake mutant. Oh and on top of all of that, a fire gets ignited! So Shredder had kidnapped, lied to, and emotionally abused a young girl, threatened her with violence if she didn’t obey, locked her up when the truth came out, tried to paint himself as the victim when she was understandably pissed off, he used her as bait, and because of his own blind arrogance he got her mutated. SO who’s to blame for this? Why Splinter of course! OF COURSE! Shredder swears to avenge his daughter and I just want to break things. Splinter is able to break through to Karai and she flees. As Stockman’s building burns down, Leo apologizes to Splinter... but all Splinter says is that they should go.
Tumblr media
One small note I have to make. When Stockman was preparing the DNA, he split something and it got mixed in. Thus creating a rather unique mutation. One that allows Karai to shift back into her human form, huh...
Tumblr media
The penultimate episode, Into Dimension X, has the Turtles receive a message from someone we haven't heard from in over 20 episodes. My friends, Leatherhead is back! He tries to contact the Turtles via communication orb to warn them of the Kraang’s plans... but Mikey gets upset and breaks the orb. They also get a working portal for Dimension X and desperate to save his friend, Mikey stupidly goes in alone. It forces the other three to go in to find him, and kudos to the animation team. Dimension X both looks and feels totally alien. Most of the environment is crystallized and there are these strange little alien creatures. Add in the pink sky and it feels like a place the Kraang would come from.
Tumblr media
So as it turns out, Mikey had become... very adapt to how Dimension X works due to his bizarre train of logic. TO out it simply, he understands Kraang logic mroe than regular logic. The Turtles get into the Kraang’s base, rescue Leatherhead, and discover that the Kraang, after nearly two seasons of trying, have perfected the mutagen. Thy can now use it to turn the Earth into a second Dimension X. While the guys cause some damage before getting back home, it is more clear than ever that the invasion is near. But it’s okay! Our boys are ready to face whatever comes at them! They can handle this, right?
Ha... haha... HAHAHAHA!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I’LL LET THAT SPEAK FOR ITSELF.
But yeah, we now enter the Season Two finale. This is actually both my favorite episode of the season and my favorite in the entire series. It’s one of the best-written, but... also the most depressing. Like this episode left me numb by the end. Why? Well let us go into...
The Invasion (Episodes 25-26)
Tumblr media
Desperate to get Karai back, Shredder once more makes a deal with the Kraang. They help him get what he wants, and he helps them get what they want. So once again, Shredder decides to leave humanity to suffer all for his own needs. You see why I hate this monster?!
Tumblr media
April and Irma get attacked by Foot Bots and unable to evade them, April is forced to take Irma to the sewers with her. Raph and Casey are on the lookout for Karai, but that gets cut short when the cops show up and try to arrest Casey. As it turns out, these are Kraang posing as humans. Worst? Raph sees Kraang portals opening and the Kraang dishing out everything that they have. UFO’s, robotic fleets, giant walker-things straight out of Star Wars. Casey is able to get free and overwhelmed, he and Raph are forced to try and find cover.
Tumblr media
Down in the sewers, Donnie and Leo are arguing over the best course of action to take. Donnie wants to put his faith in the Turtle Mech, confident that it’ll dot he job despite still having kinks to work out. Leo however is concerned about if things could go wrong and wants to establish a second base outside New York. April arrives with Irma, who is taken back... before her body changes and reveals that she is a robot... UMM... so yeah, Irma was actually Kraang Sub-Prime, who was trying to work form within to weasel out the location of the Lair. Now that he has it, the Kraang open portals and attack. The gang gets quickly over-whelmed so Splinter orders the Turtles and April to flee. They head into the tunnels with Leo choosing to stay behind and fend off the Kraang droids chasing them while Donnie, Mikey, and April escape back to the surface.
Tumblr media
Everything has devolved into chaos quickly. Raph and Casey are trying to evade the Kraang’s forces. Donnie, Mikey, and April flee to the O’Neil’s apartment where they watch the chaos unfold and poor Kirby has essentially a panic attack. Poor April feels guilty for it all due to bringing Irma to the Lair, even offering to go out and bring the boys to safety herself. Leo gets to the surface, but the Foot have spotted him and Shredder sends all of his forces after him. Splinter is able to defeat SUb-Prime, but the Lair is in utter ruins. But he has little time to grieve as he still has his sons to find. To make things worst, Kraang Prime emerges and launches mutagen all over the city, mutating everything and everyone hit with it. So yeah... things are NOT looking good.
Tumblr media
Leo eventually ends up at a construction site where Shredder is waiting. Leo tries to make him fight him, but Shredder refuses as Leo is ‘beneath him’. Instead, he sends more Foot Bots and poor Leo is just getting pushed to his limits here. He’s under a lot of stress and pressure at this moment, and the constant attacks are not helping. He bests the Foot Bots in a... pretty brutal fashion that makes you really glad that he’s dicing and stabbing Foot Bots and not actual soldiers. Shredder has Rhazar, Fishface, and Tiger Claw attack him, provoking Leo to devolve to blind fury and kick their asses. But at this point, the leader in blue is exhausted, worn down, and not thinking clearly which leaves him vulnerable to Shredder, who casts the final, and most lethal, blow.
Tumblr media
Shredder has his men take Leo away as he finds Splinter, who is NOT happy with the evidence that something happened to his son. Shredder responds by saying that he took Leo just like he took Karai all those years ago. This pisses Splinter off for VERY understandable reasons and they fight. Meanwhile, Raph and Casey finally make it to the apartment, but the relief is short-lived. Leo gets tossed through the window, knocked out and brutally beaten up. The Foot attack, forcing the group to escape. Kirby leads them to his old van they they try to escape in, but Kirby get shit with mutagen before he can tag along. Kraang Prime totally did that just to spite April. Asshole. The group flees in the van. Splinter and Shredder continue to brawl, but Splinter eventually gets trapped under some graters. Fortunately he earlier met up with Leatherhead, who jumps into the fray to save him. Unfortunately, while t works, Shredder gets the upper hand and knocks him into the icy waters. Splinter gets so pissed that he, by sheer force of will, knocks the grates away and tackles Shredder back into the sewers. All while trying to essentially bite his face off. DAMN.
Tumblr media
Donnie, Raph, Mikey, and April go back to the Lair to find Splinter as they leave Leo with Casey, who goes to find his family. Spoiler alert: he sadly fails. The Lair is an utter wreck and realizing that they can't stay, Donnie has the guys round up supplies and anything significant before going to find Splinter and get out of the city. It’s a... really somber scene. The Lair is where we have spent the past two years. It wasn't just the Turtles home, it was ours in a way too. I Bremen seeing it trashed for the first time and I was just... crying. Mind you they make the bad choice of having them fix it u next season, which I think was dumb because it negates the emotional significance played up in this moment and potential growth for the cast. But for this moment? It was... hard. Really hard.
Tumblr media
April soon senses that Splinter is in trouble and the four venture into the tunnels, discovering that Splinter is still fighting Shredder. The tunnel is caged off however, so they can’t reach him. Splinter gives it his all, even using the same airbending-like maneuver that he used in I. Monster on Shredder. But unfortunately, it fails. Shredder get sup, knocks Splinter out form behind, and literally flushes Splinter away. All while three of his sons and his surrogate daughter are forced to watch helplessly. Raph is enraged, angrily pulling and bating at the bars as Shredder walks away. Mikey eventually hugs Raph to calm him down, assuring him that somehow Splinter will be okay. April, enraged, tells Donnie that they can't run. They need to stay and end this here and now.
Tumblr media
Their decision made, the four get the Turtle Mech and fight through the Kraang to reach the Foot. But they never get the chance to face Shredder again as Kraang Prime takes them on. They give it their best, even using the city’s power to use a powerful electrical attack n Prime that knocks out the city power grid. But even that proves futile and even fries the systems as Kraang Prime simply exits his robot suit and attacks personally. The only thing that saves them is April using her powers and Casey arriving to ram Prime back. They all flee formt he city, Donnie apologizing to the still comatose Leo for not listening. April hs a place where they can go, a farmhouse in North Hampton, but it does little to raise anyone’s spirits. The Turtles, for the first time, have completely and utterly lost.
Tumblr media
As for Splinter, he is left in the city. But fortunately he is saved form drowning by, of all people, Karai. She doesn't stick around, but Thank God that we have something good happen cause Dear God did we need it! YEAH THIS EPISODE STILL HURTS EVEN FOUR YEARS LATER!

pour another glass, and keep ‘em coming.
a commissioned TMNT 2012 fic for Donnie and Karai having some bonding time about not being fully appreciated by their families, both current and prior.
Karai isn’t sure what she’s expecting as she throws on a housecoat over her tank top and sweats, marching out of her private quarters and towards the main greeting room for Foot allies. Why any of her brothers would come calling at this hour of the morning- nearly completely light out, hours before any of them would dare rising to the surface- is beyond her. All she knows is that she’s three kinds of annoyed and five kinds of pissed off, because like them, she is very nearly nocturnal and she’d been sleeping, dammnit.
Karai all but kicks open the door into the lounge, and storms inside to turn her scathing glare on-
-Donatello. Donnie. Who hardly seems to leave that lab of his, and tends to keep to his own lane unless it’s necessary. They’ve gotten closer lately, yes, but not so close he’s entitled to interrupting her downtime like this.
“Explain yourself,” Karai snaps, and Donnie gives a tired shrug.
“My family are a bunch of assholes,” He says in a flat tone, and hefts a crate. “I brought beer. Can I stay the day?”
Karai nearly snaps again, and then hesitates. She eyes the crate, which has tall bottles sticking out of it as well as cans.
“Is that red wine?” She asks.
“It is if you’ll drink it with me.”
“Give it here,” Karai commands, and takes the bottle her brother hands her.
One room swap and two glasses later, Karai is lounging on her favorite loveseat while Donnie continues to brood in silence; draining his third beer and exchanging it for the glass of red wine he’s still nursing.
“You shouldn’t mix like that,” Karai comments as he downs the last half of it. “It ruins the taste of both. A chugging everything doubly ruins it.”
“I’m here to feel sorry for myself and possibly get very tipsy, not be pretentious about how I drink,” Donnie snidely replies, and seemingly to spite her, reaches for another beer can. Karai clicks her tongue in disgust and sips her glass.
Karai waits for further explanation, but gets none. Donnie just slouches in his seat, glaring aimlessly around Karai’s private living room, and honestly, only one of her siblings is allowed to pull that act at a time. And last she checked, Raph hasn’t taken to smiling unless under duress.
“Spill,” Karai says, drawing a narrow look towards herself. She gestures around them. “You’re camping out in my secret base, so the decent thing would be to tell me why.”
“I gave you wine, that’s payment enough,” Donnie says irritably.
Karai rolls her eyes. “Come on, Donnie. We both know you wouldn’t risk going aboveground this time of morning unless it was important. Tell me if I should be worried about some impending disaster while you drink yourself into a coma.”
“I’m a mutant, I don’t know if I can actually do that with my metabolism,” He says factually. Karai raises one eyebrow, fixing a glare on him. Donnie meets it for a long moment, and then flops his head backwards with an almighty sigh.
“Fine. I had a fight. With my brothers. And now I’m not speaking to any of them because they’re all unappreciative little shits who don’t understand half of what I’ve done for them over the years. Raph accused me of having it easy. Easy, he said. Easy how? Just because I wasn’t getting myself punished all the time for starting fights didn’t mean things were easy for me.”
He stops to take a drink of his beer. Karai takes the pause as a chance to pour more wine for herself; she can already feel this turning into a lengthy conversation.
“So… you had a fight. And that’s new how?” Karai is familiar with how much her half-siblings bicker and quarrel amongst themselves. If they’re not working together like a well-oiled machine, they’re stuttering along like a broken jalopy. There’s no in between for them.
“It’s not, that’s the problem!” Donnie says empathetically, gesturing sharply. “We always fight about the same things and we never get anywhere. Just keep going in circles trying to- to one up each other, or shut someone down, or just can’t. Can’t something. I don’t know.” He takes a long sip of his beer, glaring at the wall. “They don’t respect me.”
“No?” Karai asks, because from the outside perspective she doesn’t see why they wouldn’t. She’s seen some of the toys Donnie produces in that lab of his, many of them incredible and highly dangerous.
Karai’s own weaponry department still can’t hold a candle to her brother’s accomplishments, much to her occasional chagrin. The tech her brother scrapes together out of literal garbage is nothing short of miraculous, and underestimating that tech has usually backfired spectacularly on their enemies.
“Nope,” Donnie drawls angrily. “and I know I deserve it. Maybe I’m not the leader, or- or a natural fighter, but I work hard, dammnit. I don’t have to be a genius to know that without my inventions and medical knowledge, one or all of us would be dead right now.” He slouches further into the chair, curling up on himself. He looks less angry, more sadly frustrated. “I’m not asking for much, but would it kill them to just… thank me? Admit I do more than tinker all day? Sometimes… sometimes it just feels like they only give a shit when I’m doing something for them, and then… they just forget to say thanks, or even acknowledge I did anything. It pisses me off.”
Karai watches Donnie as he sits and feels miserable for himself, idly taking sips from her wine. Then she sighs.
“You know, I used to feel the same way. About the Shredder,” Karai admits, and she feels palpable surprise from her brother. She looks at him. “What, you think he was father of the year? He started training me in ninjutsu soon as I had the mental capability for it. I was already being groomed as heir by the time I was five.” She tilts her head; giving a wry, somewhat bitter smile. “The Shredder wasn’t the sort of teacher who accepted anything less than the best, you see. So I couldn’t ever be anything but that.”
Donnie is quiet for a moment, giving Karai an unreadable contemplative look. Then he leans forwards in his seat, setting his can on the coffee table between them.
“What was it like?” He asks, tone cautious. “Being raised by… the Shredder.”
Karai looks down into her red wine, which is about the same color as the blood she’s seen spilled over the years. Most of it by her own hands, or her adoptive father.
“It wasn’t all bad,” She distantly hears herself saying. “But… not always good.”
Donnie silently listens to her, and Karai, probably because of the alcohol in her system, finds herself talking about things she never really has before.
“I usually enjoyed it. Winning tends to make you feel like you do. The few times I trained with other apprentices and students, I was top of the class. Better than anyone my age, and usually better than anyone years older. Though it’s not like anyone tried particularly hard against me; I was the Shredder’s daughter. No one wanted to risk crossing him. That way laid discreet disappearance if you were lucky, or being made an example of if you were not.”
“I’m not bad at ninjutsu, but I just never managed to be great compared to my brothers? I think too much, or think not enough of the right stuff? I mean- I built half our kitchen and living room and bathroom appliances from scratch, and I still didn’t get as much praise from our father. It wasn’t ninjutsu, so I guess it wasn’t as impressive to him. Would’ve liked to see how he coped without the modified hairdryers I gave him; maybe then Splinter would’ve felt more appreciative of my inventions.”
“I don’t remember if I wanted to do it or not. All I remember is that he wanted me to, and expected me to, and so did everyone else. And if I hadn’t… I don’t know. He never physically punished me, but I suspect if I hadn’t executed that woman, I wouldn’t have been allowed back home for at least half a year. Isolation was usually how he opted for reprimands. No contact with my few friends deemed worthy, and no admittance to the main base. No contact with him, either.”
“Either I bend over backwards to solve all our problems at once, or I’m not doing anything useful. Maybe my experiments look like I’m sitting in one spot for days in a row, but that level of mathematics and science takes concentration! It’s not as flashy as fancy katas, but it’s just as valuable in the long run. More so, in fact! My brothers don’t get that. They’ve never gotten that. If it doesn’t go boom, then it’s garbage, right? Never mind half of the work I do is just keeping us safe from humans. It took me months to finish a program that would delete only footage of us from the city’s CCTV system, and they never even said thanks.”
“Admittedly, and don’t you dare ever tell anyone this, I used to actually be… quite anxious. It got easier the older I got, but also worse, sometimes. The Foot Clan is highly prestigious, even with the damage Shredder did to it in his later years. Before all that… we were a powerhouse. Indomitable. I couldn’t ever slip up in front of allies or enemies, or I’d risk embarrassing us all. An heir can’t look incapable, and he never, ever let me forget that. Imagine being a scrawny preteen, and never being allowed to make a mistake under any circumstances.”
“If I screwed up, usually it meant someone might die. They never say so much as thank you, but in the moment they certainly put on the pressure. If our getaway vehicles choked, we were fucked. If a smoke bomb didn’t have the right balance of ingredients, it wouldn’t go off correctly and we’d be fucked. If any of the mechanical gear I’ve made over the years quit working right mid-battle, we were fucked. And if by some miracle we lived through the disaster, they’d blame me.”
“Honestly, I think he stopped hugging me around ten. Maybe nine. About the time he started giving me exclusively weapons for gifts and praise only when I fucking killed someone.”
“I don’t remember the last time my father hugged me, actually. Or the last time he paid attention to my work instead of how distracted I was during training. Hard to be focused when I haven’t slept in three days, you know?”
“I loved him, sort of, but it turned into respect for his authority after a while. He couldn’t even manage real familial love as a father in the end. Bastard.”
“I loved him, yeah, but I don’t think he ever really… liked me for who I am? We never really connected like that, honestly.”
“I was his favorite, but only because I was the best, and the last piece of my mother’s legacy. Likely for nothing else.”
“I wasn’t his favorite, and I don’t know how I feel about that, even now. Wish he’d at least tried to show interest in what I loved.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You shouldn’t have had to deal with that.”
“You deserved better than that.”
“We both did.”
Somehow, they end up on the couch together, slumped on either end of it and feeling… better, actually. Mutual complaining about their imperfect families/family, as it turns out, is quite cathartic.
Wine and beer helps, too.
Karai sets down her glass on the coffee table a final time. She’s not drinking any more, not today. She might be more than human now, but the tipsiness is really starting to get to her. Donnie seems to be done as well; holding a glass of his own that’s been empty for ten minutes now.
“…you can’t ever tell anyone what I said today,” Karai says quietly, but firmly. “If you do, I’ll-”
“Have my shell for it?” Donnie rolls his eyes. “You used that phrase enough times when you were still trying to kill us.”
“Tch. How you four wiggled out of that every time, I’ll never understand.”
“Honestly, neither will I.”
Karai laughs, the morbid humor of their former relationships actually funny with the wine sloshing around in her. She leans drowsily on her palm, smiling to herself.
“You know, I’m glad I didn’t,” She says absently. “Things would’ve been a lot different if I’d shuc-succeeded.”
Donnie snorts at her slip of tongue. “Well, same to you. I wasn’t exactly holding back, either. Woulda sucked if I killed you ‘fore we figured this- blood feud stuff. Yeesh.”
Karai turns an eye on her brother, and raises an invisible glass at him. “Cheers to having not accidentally on purpose killed each other because of our fath-father’s fighting.”
“Cheers,” Donnie replies, raising his actual glass at the empty air of Karai’s. His fingers slip around it and it falls, hitting the carpet with a dull thud. Karai doesn’t even care; she’s too wrung out and she can always buy more anyway, if it broke.
“You know what?” Donnie says suddenly. Karai raises an eyebrow, too tired to do much else. “You’re… not as bad as I used to think you were.”
“No?” Karai chuckles, because similarly, her opinion of Donnie has improved with time as well.
“Nah. I mean, you’re still kinda a- a bitch to people-”
“Oh really, now-”
“-but yeah. Coulda done worse for a sister.”
Karai shakes her head. “I used to try to murder you,” She says dryly, though his words make a softly warm spot in her chest. She’d never had any family besides the Shredder, growing up.
Donnie shrugs. “In this family? Still could’ve been worse.”
“Well, then I’d like to say I could have done worse for a brother,” Karai says seriously, blaming the alcohol for her sentimentality.
“Given your pool of choices here,” Donnie says with a smirk. “I’d pick me, simply ‘cause I manage to be the most polite half the time, and always bring alcohol to the party.”
Karai snorts in an undignified fashion and kicks his shin. He kicks her back, slurring snark at her as she does at him.
They keep talking, even though they nearly fall asleep mid-conversation. It’s the horribly familial kind of setting Karai never got to experience as a lone clan heir, and even though her sleep schedule is ruined and she’ll likely have a hangover, she finds it’s a weird touchy-feely experience she wouldn’t mind repeating.
