Putting so much effort into your side characters has an annoying side effect. Now you want to write a story centered around them instead because they're just too interesting!

Like who cares about the group of main characters forming bonds with eachother, learning to be heroes and save everyone, when the queer romance of a dragon riding warrior princess and an elf (spirit) spy girl with nowhere to go, is standing right there? Or the tragedy of a Grim Reaper / Death incarnate quitting his duties after being blamed for every loss every living being has and how it turned him into the main villain? Who cares about a ragtag group of all-human heroes with max 5 years of age gap, when you have a ragtag group of heroes from every corner of fantasy, with different spieces and ages ranging from child to billion years old gods, everyone needing therapy all the same?

But they're all supposed to be secondary / side characters!
