#the conversation takes place in antoine’s vod: L’ANNIVERSAIRE DE TALLULAH at 41 mins ish #like . okay . its such a fucking crazy moment to me that still lives in my head bc it’s a a joke . but it’s also not #he asks etoiles directly after spiderbit wedding . ‘don’t you want to get married?’#after it gets mentioned*#etoiles turns him down bc he ‘doesn’t have time to fuck [he] needs to kill everyone’#and antoine says ‘well but— just a marriage’ like it’s the act itself that is the most important to him not anything that could come with it #the confirmation of partnership . of having someone to rely on . something that feels to him maybe more certain and solid than the #friendships antoine had at that point . like if he felt things were slipping and he was being left behind he wanted the certainty of #something like a marriage that is traditionally considered More important and certain .#and i think the end of their conversation is notable in how antoine brings up the notion of betrayal — he getting betrayed by others and how #he’s fed up with it . after etoiles says no to the marriage (though specifying that he’s gonna think about it) antoine brings the whole #betrayal thing up after a pause . he doesn’t necessarily consider etoiles as having betrayed him but it’s that lack of certainty #certainty that etoiles has refused to give him that makes him start to open up about how he’s tired of people promising him things (or #seeming to promise him things) only to leave him out and in the dark . and there’s an insecurity there that really shines if you take this #moment into consideration with the Larger Shifting his character is going through .#like tldr ; qantoine has begun to realise that his friends are starting to form deeper bonds with other people and thus keep secrets with #them which to him means leaving him behind . taking notice of this he brings this up to his friends in . not exactly direct ways . he #talks about how he doesn’t like secret keeping but doesn’t seem to push much further and he also tries to remedy the issue #of feeling left behind by doing shit as discussed above ^ however on account of the InHuman i’m not sure he understands what he’s doing very #well . and as we know antoine doesn’t make much progress and ends up retreating into himself and beginning to keep his own secrets . to do #his own shady shit . to work in the shadows and not be honest with any of his friends either . to hold them at arm’s length despite how much #he still cares . the only person he puts his full trust into anymore is pomme . not ayp who he deems too underhanded . not bagz who he sees #as having started the whole ‘secret keeping’ stuff in the first place . and not etoiles who’s actively going down a path with the codes and #resistance that he cannot follow #that was NOT a short tldr . why the fuck am i writing dissertation length tags about MINECRAFT BLOCKS #god whatever who cares i get joy out of this thats what matters #anw if you read this far holy shit ur insane . thank you #i am going to bed now godbless !#jay rambles #qfrench.posting

In discussions about mental health, I am so tired of the only voices mattering being other people or other people who do not deal with a condition/disorder or a specific situation.

"Here's how I deal with loved ones with [x] condition!"

"If you do [y] because of [x mental health reason], you're selfish and everybody who loves you is having their lives made harder by you!"

"If your symptoms are [z], you're gross, and you deserve no sympathy for struggling"

I understand to an extent why people do this, but holy hell, as somebody who struggles and struggles often, the last thing any of us need to be told is that we're a burden that others have to carry. And it's terrible how everybody else's feelings but ours matter - even if we are the ones most affected by our condition or situation.

If you are dealing with issues surrounding your mental health and well-being, know that everything above isn't true; you are worthy of patience, understanding, kindness, and love. You are worthy of being listened to without judgment. You don't have to apologize or "make up" for who you are or what you struggle with.

favorite type of villanous characters are the ones whose motivations boil down to

like they dont even have to have any stakes in the broader situation. they just have take pleasure in destruction

#sometimes this can be done in a very funee cartoon villain kind of way a la spike from buffy #and sometimes it can be done in a positively chilling way where this character knows for a fact that some of the effects of their chaos #will also make their life worse. but they just enjoy fucking with other people more than any privation they could personally experience #you can't sway this person with common sense because their own personal logic dictates that it doesn't apply to them #you can't sway them with emotion; your sadness/fear/anger/ineffectuality is part of the entertainment factor #can't sway 'em with threats because dodging threats is ALSO part of the whole point #this second version is the least pathetic type of character mostly because they simply do not give a shit about anything ever #any personal fears are buried or stomped out and figuring out why they do what they do won't stop them from doing it #and yet: in order to keep the relentless making-it-worse guy from being uninterestingly evil there does have to be SOME desire or need #bodily harm or lack of available victims could get you a moment of genuine terror or loneliness that sparks the audience sympathy #which you do need! just long enough for the sympathy to then be misplaced. which you also need bc this is an antagonist #the first version does very well at redemption arcs and is sort of built for them . they're almost too easy for the first cartoon version #the second version should be kept separate from redemption arcs at all costs #or you no longer have that character anymore now he's someone else #writing tag #q #god. one thing is that i know how to spot character types in writing and detail what's good about them and talk about it #but when it comes to then executing the concept? my perception of what's cool and works and my execution are MILES apart #frustrating as hell that i can identify this guy but not create him

I still don’t know what my exact take on angels egg is yet but I think I like it so far mainly because of the comfort of some dude off the shits exploring the concept of hoping and waiting for something in a way that isn’t just rewarded exactly how the character wants but yet it is rewarded nonetheless like it’s not just nihilism trying to be avant garde once again it’s just like actually this is the real perhaps tragic beauty of hope and how our relationship to truth works and whatever the fuck. Or however you need to interpret it have a nice day

PLEASE #my sorta toxic trait is that as someone obsessed with media analysis; narrative devices; and story structure -#as well as just. someone who is an aspiring showrunner/creator working on my own huge projects -#is that every time i come across a movie or show that i think is done in a really lacking way. all i can think about is how i would #have done it instead #(this happens in a non-critical way too tbf if i really enjoy a book or game i'll be like they should let me make a based on film)#but hazbin. hazbin. all i have right now is 'i could fix her' in my head #I WOULD TREAT THESE CHARACTERS RIGHT I WOULD GIVE THEM THE NARRATIVE THEY DESERVE #there is. so much potential here. how is the execution so lacking #mine #good ideas!!!! good moments!!!!!!!! A bunch of OC designs/reworks I've done this month :> Still more to go, but Jasper and Crystal have been characters just SCREAMING for a redesign for YEARS now so I'm really happy to have gotten them done :) The Anatomist is a new oc and I'm enjoying his nasty fuckedup-ness, and Omari's design was okay but it needed a complete retool because he's now themed around an entirely different animal (An Egyptian Fruit Bat rather than a Honduran White Bat, so I needed to take out the dominant whites and yellows from his pallette).

Up next? Idfk, whoever I feel like drawing aha. Al, perhaps, or maybe I'll finally get around to my Galaxy design rework. I'm trying not to stress having everything 100% new and shiny for artfight, all my old stuff is perfectly serviceable, so I'm just focusing on those with the biggest changes.

hey general public. if someone is fostering your cats for you while you're between homes + you were unexpectedly homeless for like 3 weeks + you haven't been able to get to housing that will allow your pets to come with you yet, and you're in regular contact with that someone discussing those cats and paying for their care needs, and then that someone messages you saying they decided they're just going to keep your pets because they decided that's what's best for them, that's stealing, right? that's stealing? the general public of reasonable people in the world agree that that is theft? yes?

that's what these bitches did to my godsister fuck them!!! but they got threatened with criminal theft charges and handed them over ^_^ and my aunt already pressed trespassing charges on them lol. but when I texted them to yell at them about it they lied saying they never stole any cats but like. what they did was stealing. my mom had to take it all the way up to the police but I kind of don't feel bad because it was their own damn fault. I hope their lives aren't ruined forever but I do hope they learn what a consequence is

what if I said arsonist’s lullaby by hozier was *the* akechi song? what if I also said it was *the* komaeda song? what then liberals?

#rambling #I'm tempted to ramble on this in essay form but idk if anyone wants a meta post comparing nagito komaeda and goro akechi via hozier #might be a little niche!#but I'll just say here that one of the reasons I think this song allows a great comparative reading of their characters is that you need #to listen to it in different valences for it to match each of them #but when you do it's a perfect fit for both (which I think is really interesting)#why?#the answer is agency (for me it's always always agency hahaahahaahaaaa)#komaeda and akechi are both characters who struggle with their own powerlessness #and their arcs deal with how they take power for themselves in a world that has seriously fucked them over #their tragedy comes from this struggle. but. BUT! they appear to cope in opposite directions #so when you hear a line like “my peace has always depended on all the ashes in my wake”#for akechi you gotta hear it with resolve #for komaeda you gotta hear it with resignation #but ofc I call bullshit on both of their own understandings of their relationship to agency #because never before have two guys been so repressed and lacking in self-awareness #anywayyyyyyyy this turned into a half baked tag essay #many such cases
