Sneak peek for the upcoming public update!
"It's a source of pride for our town," Lot says, speaking entirely for the benefit of his own ego, "to host this Temple, and all its skilled adepts."
Morgana smiles sweetly. It's a bad omen. "Yes, the Temple my mother built. It is a great source of pride for the Le Fay, to have spread the Goddess' faith beyond Avalon." Morgana leans in closer to Raphael and Beatrice, smile turning shrewd as if about to impart some great conspiracy. "Could you believe that it is quite a rarity for my dear husband to visit the Temple? I don't reckon he's stepped foot inside more than once, when it was erected and inaugurated."
"I would have accompanied you," Lot says, "but you only requested Sir Accolon's company."
"Perhaps Sir Accolon was better company," Elaine mutters under her breath, loud enough for you and Gareth and no one else to hear. She eyes the Duke critically, an expression both you and your brother take sharp notice of.
This is simply too good a retort to let pass by in a whisper. You echo Elaine's words for everyone to hear, if only to spite Lot: "Indeed, Sir Accolon is better company."

Sir Accolon: I agreed to kill this guy so that Morgan Le Fay could murder her husband and King Arthur and so I could rule the kingdom, but I didn't know the guy I was killing was YOU, Arthur. Sure I was part of a plot to kill you but I didn't think I'd be the one killing you. Sorry.
Arthur: oh don't worry about it, I forgive you. Since you didn't know.
Le Morte D'Arthur is one of the funniest books I've ever read, but never intentionally.

"Sir Accolon."
It's not a command but a simple name, and yet there's still something to the way it's pronounced, the evidence of a queen even when her kingdom is no more. She speaks his name as to stop him and hold him both, an unspoken command for him to listen thoroughly.
"I am the Queen of faerie Britain, Morgan Le Fae. I am here today in stead of someone else, as to make right on my debt. As gratitude for her assistance, I come before you with an offer. This one time, I shall answer anything you require of me. Nonetheless, only this one time. You are free to accept or decline, as well as take time to think."

🍷 accolon and lionel!
|| Send a 🍷 for a my room line my muse would have for yours ; accepting!
Tumblr media
"Ah, my loyal and good Sir Lionel. How glad I am to see that the first of my knights is here." For a brief moment genuine affection could be seen in Pretender's eyes, before it was hidden behind the mask once more. "Have you had time to reunite with your kin, then? Oh, and of course Arthur will be glad to see you, I'm sure. The fool boy still believes you to be one of his, instead of mine. Well, fools can't be changed no matter what. I'm glad to see you, dear Lionel. Now, let's go about behaving, for now at least."

"good luck to you, my king!" from lionel to accolon, arthurian verse!
|| Tournament starters ; accepting!
A smile graced Accolon's face, golden eyes lighting up from the well-wishes from his knight.
His, and not Arthur's, though it was easy to continue the ruse. No one would think anything of it with the Pendragon checking the ties on his horse's gear. A rare time Arthur bothered to participate in a tournament was at hand, even more rare was the opportunity it afforded Accolon. Their names had been drawn together.
Red dragon on a field of blue versus the yellow alder on a field of red.
What a clash it promised to be!
Tumblr media
"Aren't you enthusiastic, my dear Sir Lionel!" Accolon replied with a laugh, shoving his helmet under his arm as he tore his eyes from the current king. Just a temporary problem, one that would be easy to handle soon enough. "What do you think, how fare my chances against the King himself, hm?"
He wanted to humiliate the younger man just a tad.
Something Lionel had likely caught on to easily.
"Ah, sadly I cannot linger," he sighed melodramatically as the horn rang out, calling the first pair to the joust field, "Your wish of luck I shall carry close to my heart, good Sir! Now, let us see whether His Majesty or I am the better jouster!"

When the damsel of the lake beheld Arthur, how full of prowess his body was, and the false treason that was wrought for him to have had him slain, she had great pity that so good a knight and such a man of worship should be destroyed. And at the next stroke Sir Accolon struck him such a stroke, that by the damsel’s enchantment the sword Excalibur fell out of Accolon’s hand to the earth; and therewithal Sir Arthur lightly leapt to it, and got it in his hand,
Okay so her inclusion is definitely helping the story. Now instead of random chance it's doing magic to help. I'm fine with this.
Although it better not just keep happening. They're better still be just random things a luck or skill and she can't just get all the credit.

THE LADY OF THE LAKE.
NOTE : Given the malleable nature of the Lady, I find it more helpful to have a general reference post as opposed to a strict dossier.
As with many figures in and around the mythology of King Arthur and his court, the Lady of the Lake continues to be a woman of mystery, her motivations uncertain and her background debated. To some she is a witch, to some a fae, or just a woman far too sure of herself. She resides in Arthur's court as much as she does without it, appearing at intervals to guide various characters to their fates. Other times she will simply place a test before a knight and leave it to them. She retains neutrality above all, a goddess-like figure, as mischeivous as she is somber, as beautiful as she is dangerous.
I've provided a list of stories I take as canon ( and my particular takes on them ) here, as we all know Arthuriana can get a little wild. Much of this is influenced by Malory's Lady specifically, but inspiration has been drawn from multiple sources. This blog is not overly friendly with BBC Merlin canon, sorry!
FOSTERING OF LANCELOT:ㅤWhether the Lady stole the infant from his mother's arms or answered her cries for help can never really be said - but she plucked the young Lancelot from the battlefield and brought him to live with her in her domain, knowing his destiny to be a great knight.
THE DOLOROUS STROKE:ㅤThough not directly involved, Sir Balin delivers a killing blow to a lady of her court whilst in the presence of King Arthur. It leads her to set up tests for the King and his court that she passes off as mere happenstance.
THE HART, THE BRACHET, THE LADY:ㅤDuring the wedding feast of King Arthur and his lady Guinevere, the Lady appears to the assembled knights chasing a brachet ( a female hunting dog ), which is in turn chasing a white hart. An unknown knight interferes and she begs the king's help. When Arthur does not aid her, she is kidnapped, and thus the quests of Sir Gawain, Sir Tor, and King Pellinore begin to procure the hart, the brachet, and the Lady respectively. Unbeknownst to all, it was orchestrated by the Lady herself.
THE ENTRAPMENT OF MERLIN:ㅤShe entraps Merlin within a stone or a tree, depending on the variation of the story. This was not maliciously done, though few believe that.
ADVISOR TO THE KING:ㅤWith the disappearance of Merlin, the Lady avails herself of the position of the court's resident magician, serving Arthur and his knights in a variety of situations - most notably in a duel against Accolon.
SIR PELLEAS:ㅤThe Lady intervenes to save Sir Pelleas, who lay under enchantment of a sorceress named Ettard. She frees him and in her rescue, becomes . . . a bit taken with him, taking him as her husband and even having a child with him, a boy named Guivret.
LANCELOT & GUINEVERE:ㅤShe supports the affair between the knight and the Queen, even going so far as to aid them on occasion or offer encouragement to both parties.
