I didn’t watch Messi when he played for us, but I’ve seen highlights, of course. From what I’ve seen, Lamine might actually be better than him 🫣. I’m lowkey scared to tweet or post this off anon, but I just wanna share it with someone who’s seen both. Do you see where I’m coming from?

Yes and no.

I think Lamine is better than Messi was at that age, or to be more precise, has showed more than what Leo had shown at that age. But their circumstances were also SO different, like you really can’t compare the team Leo was surrounded with and the opportunities he had when he was 17 with what Lamine has now, which imo is an ideal team for his talent to shine and for him to be able to take such a big responsibility in the team.

To be honest I’m also just not really a fan of these comparisons. So far, Leo is the greatest player I’ve ever seen. Maybe Lamine will one day earn that title, it sure seems like he’s heading down that road, but it’s also true that as someone who has seen all of Leo’s career and his prime, it feels impossible than someone could turn out to be even better than that. I would much rather just enjoy Lamine’s present career and maybe in the future we can all start the Who’s Better? debate, which I’m sure will be a very controversial one.
