Good Omens 2
I might include pictures later :p
Truthfully a story can exist but the way it is viewed by the audience and the enviroment that shaped their experiences and made them reach the conclusions THAT was what I was trying to say, to help people understand a persons mind process on why they might THINK or come TO the conclusion that Good Omens might be queerbait [even though thats not what 'I' was thinking] but only delving into a small tip of the iceberg of queer literature of subtext as homosexual relationships pre-80's was frowned upon, and had to be villianised. Or when it was finally accepted were then killed. Or to only create a false please both audiences with a will they wont they [unconsented edgeplay] of two men JUST being friends and friendly who are brotherly and just really just pals.
So an older audience who had been used to watch lukewarm shows that 'claimed' to be lgbt only to rip that tag away once the show was over and they were then payed has made others [myself included] timid in queer media and would rather WAIT until a show was over before watching it.
So anyway- I would love to do a more in depth analysis of a LIST of queer stories that had some patterns, patterns that most fall into thats just dryhumping the line that is both queer-approved or queerbait.
________________________________________________________
In 2019 when Good Omens came out, I thought wow if I was in a relationship it would be like that. Crowley and aziraphale I felt seen, I couldn't describe what it was like wanting a relationship but feeling guilty because it wasn't the same as all the OTHER relationships in media. It was different and it was PERFECT.
SO Good Omens is a love story, and it's obvious on whose story it is BUT what I just realised from Season one is the many parralells of COUPLES thats in Good omens to compare against Aziraphale and crowley.
As most things when it comes to same sex couples they have to be subtext [sad face] but it is insulting to claim that ALL lgbt content HAS to be the same. There is a spectrum just because Good Omens isn't as obvious as Interview with a vampire [series] or our flag means death or others doesn't mean its any less queer.
So we have the couples in the series that actually correlate and can be compared to the main couple!
They come in twos.
Adam and Eve. Brand new to the world.
Same as Aziraphale and Crowley both brand new, both leaving the garden of eden almost as if they themselves were just like Adam and Eve I bet God was looking at them the same way they were looking at Adam and Eve.
Adam with a flaming sword
Azi/Crowley; their fucked.
God watching Aziraphale and crowley WITHOUT the flaming sword ; Their fucked.
The way both Azi/crowley met was a love at first sight, they met the once and then bumped into each other conistently. My guess here is that this explosive burst of emotion of instantly liking each other and relying on one another after that first 'night'
Almost reminiscent of anathama and Newt.
Then later on, you have the son of satan well- the parents for the baby swap.
So you have Warlocks parents, the mother who stays and raises warlock alone and the husband who is CONSTENTLY in office and is kept away because of his work and devotion to his president, to the cost of both his loving wife and warlock.
Aziraphale is just as absent when he's constantly up in heaven or talking to gabriel about ending the apocolpse and also Aziraphale was a bit neglectful as Crowleys influence was much stronger than Azi's was in shaping warlock. That physical distance is parralell to the distance has made with crowley making his work [being an angel] his priority.
Then the comparison of adams family, how both raise Adam but its the way the two communicate and talk with one another. Both parents are a team, the way his wife teases her husband for being a big softie about Adam and his dog and the other denied it.
JUST like how Azi says Crowley deep down is a nice person and the other puffs up like an angry bird.
And the last couple but no more obvious. Honestly I always thought the fact that you see THREE love stories play out simultaniously at the same time is the main factor but given that the other mini couples are similair to Aziraphale and crowley was too good to ignore.
So Both shadwell and Madame Tracy.
The fact that Madame tracy had red hair and kept flirting unashamedly at Shadwell and the other kept insisting he wanted no part in it. The truth was theirs was subtle compared to the obvious [ahem] couple of Newt and anathama but when you look at how both tracy and shadwell converse with each other was subtle, not in your face but it was plain as day that the two had chemistry.
With all pairs together every single character in twos are usually a couple the only reason thats not the case are GROUPS.
And lookie here, the four horsmen, adams gang, and both heaven and hell itself have clusters of groups together they never have that official two pair.
idk I just thought it was a neat contrast to the main couple ^^;
Theres probs more but if people want to add on feel free :D
Okay years ago, I made a "Is Good Omens queerbait." Post and did a half ass job if it. The answer no its not bait. Its another LGBT piece added to the tiny treasure box that is slowly getting bigger. But I didn't articulate that post well on WHY certain people were claiming that not the homophobes or acephobes [fuck those gays as a asexual queer myself so back off] it was WHY did LGBT members think at the time that good omens was queerbait.

So If I get dogpiled again with acephobic or homophobic trash again or accused of NEEDING to see two men fuck [which I fucking dont I'm sick of people assuming shit that I never said I WANTED that when did subtext VS text equel Sex HUH? Words of affirmation or holding hands? Like thats where MY MIND is at you fucking perverts.]

so question.
if aziraphale fell / wasn't an angel anymore ( by choice or force . ) would crowley still call him angel? even just as a slip up
gimme opinions
#i know neil said that he calls him that because he is an angel and not a form of endearment or anything#but i do not belive a word of it /hj#i think he would and then aziraphale would be either very confused#ashamed or bit shocked that it took him that long to realise “ oh its not because im an angel is it ”#lemme go w the hc of crowley using it as a little flattery / thing he picked up from humans#but aziraphale just never realised why he actually was calling him that#maybe crowley would accidentally call azi angel a couple of times if this happened#good omens#good omens 2#crowley#aziraphel#honestly i cant even remember crowley calling aziraphale his name. like. at all ?? maybe im just having a brain blank.#michael sheen#david tennant#good omens season 2

Right to fear, wrong to believe
Just had a horrible realization and needed to meta it out.
How different they were before Edinburgh, when Crowley was sucked down into Hell.
Look at this flirty babygirl in the Bastille:
I mean could he climb that tree any faster?
(This is why I really like fics that place a more physical relationship here, pre-Bastille or just post-Bastille, because c'mon look at them. )
In S1 the next thing is 1862 and Crowley asking for insurance (with a cane ffs). And Aziraphale freaking out with his "fraternizing" BS. It's jarring, until we get 1827 filled in for us in S2.
@takeme-totheworld notes in this post:
Crowley sure went from "our respective head offices don't actually care how things get done" and "nobody ever has to know" to "walls have ears" FAST after Edinburgh. And Aziraphale went from looking at Crowley with hearts in his eyes to "I've been FrAtErNiZiNg" just as quickly. I'm more convinced than ever that Edinburgh was the first time Crowley ever actually got caught and punished for fucking around with Aziraphale/doing good deeds/whatever it was they yanked him back down to Hell for, and it scared the absolute shit out of both of them and changed the whole tone of their relationship after that.
Yes! - it's clear to me as well that the Edinburgh graveyard was a very bad turning point, where they both saw that Hell was listening and would intervene. And it did change their relationship drastically, for over a century and a half (really, until looming Armageddon loosened up the stakes for them).
But what about Heaven?
See the thing is, we know Azi's been worried about Heaven watching him for the past 6000 years.
But they haven't.
All this time, and Heaven had not seen them together. Hadn't noticed. Had not even LOOKED.
I want to mention what @starrose17 says about this here in this post:
What I love about this is her choice of words, “went back through the Earth Observation files.” This implies that these photos were already filed somewhere meaning somebody had to have been watching them which meant somewhere in the depths of the bureaucratic heaven there’s an underpaid angel clerk tasked with watching angels on Earth, and he’s been hording photos of his favourite Angel/Demon couple not reporting them to Michael because he wants to see what happens.
And that's exactly what this fic covers!: Spying Omens by @ednav
(Give this a read, it's fabulous.)
While I am here for this being exactly how that happens, the other scenario is colder and worse - there's no one watching, at all. It's just filing automatically and never seen until some Scrivener is called to pull a file.
From @fuckyeahisawthatat's comment here :
I found this scene to be quite chilling, actually. Not only is the idea of Heaven as a surveillance state brilliant (way to make “God is always watching” sound way more ominous) but this is exactly how modern surveillance states work. They don’t actively watch everybody all the time. That’s not physically possible for humans, and even if it is metaphysically possible for Heaven, it’s not a very efficient use of resources. Surveillance states watch people they deem “suspicious.” And once you’ve been put in the category of “suspicious,” they have massive amounts of data that they can comb through to collect a lot of information about you–to retroactively build a case justifying why you’re suspicious, to collect information about where you go and who you associate with, etc.
Yes.
So we either have secret collusion in the rank and file, or we have a surveillance state that is constantly reinforced to its subjects for fear's sake, for control.
(Well, it obviously could be both.)
BUT my point is… Up until Edinburgh, Hell has not been watching (or caring at least). And up until near the end of Armageddon't, neither has Heaven.
Oh, my poor Angel. Thousands of years, of denying yourself, of pushing Crowley away, of carrying around a tension that is it's own constellation.
After 1827 you might have reason, but for the 5000+ years before that?
Thousands of years and Heaven was not watching nor cared.
You were right to fear. And you were wrong to believe.
And that just breaks my heart.
#okay gonna go reread Spying Omens again because that's my headcanon now#I hope Azi tears out the Earth Observation cams or servers or whatever it is#where's Murderbot when you need a good hack#good omens meta#aziracrow#ineffable husbands#good omens

The HUGE analysis - This season starts and ends with a discussion, doesn't it?
Ok, my loves. This was one of the really long metas I've been working with, and probably the one that has taken me the longest (because it depended a lot on rewatching the season time and again).
I couldn't help to notice that the fist interaction Aziraphale and Crowley have in season 2 is a fight, really. Yeah, we have the beautiful “in the beginning” sequence, with both of them being angels and happy and all the such (oh, how lovely, Neil Gaiman planting the seeds of why it will matter to us that Aziraphale will not be fighting the idea of inviting Crowley to Heaven, because he remembers that happy, careless guy). But after the intro, we see them having a big disagreement… And we end the season in the biggest disagreement they have had, probably, in 6,000 years.
I love over-analyzing and dissecting narratives and characters, and more so if I can use only what we’ve been shown in the screen. Therefore, I believe that the first fight of the season tells us a lot of the things we will need to know to understand the final fight of the season between them. Let’s take a look, shall we?
The first fight is motivated by having an amnesiac Gabriel in the bookshop.
They see the same circumstance: Gabriel in the bookshop means trouble with Heaven. He is also an individual risk, because he has menaced Aziraphale directly (well, Crowley under the visage of Aziraphale).
It affects each of them differently: even when they both panic, Aziraphale feels compelled to be kind to Gabriel (gives him a blanket and hot cocoa) while Crowley has a full-on panic induced reaction and gets defensive.
They propose opposite solutions: Azi wants to do the Good thing, taking the “higher road” (help Gabriel), while Crowley wants to do His Own thing: “Protect the precious, peaceful, fragile existence I have carved for myself”
At that moment, Aziraphale corrects him and marks a “we”, which is very interesting. But immediately after that, Aziraphale gets all "my way or the highway".
Crowley asks for clarification, with a well-leveled tone of voice: “Is this how it is going to go?”
Azi clarifies "no, I want you to help me!" But then he does the passive-aggressive thing: "if you won't, you won't". (oh, Aziraphale, how you triggered me here, my dear chap. I was angry at the character the first 6 times I saw this)
Therefore, Crowley is out. He marks a clear limit: “I won't. You are on your own”, and then storms out. No Eccles cakes would help him: he needs a breather and counting to 10. That doesn't help either.
Crowley only comes back after gaining an extra perspective: the "extreme sanctions" talk with Beelzebub.
When he comes back, Aziraphale will stand his ground: he feels he deserves an apology, which is delivered via a “I was wrong, you were right” literal admission (even when he probably wasn't "right", but that's their way... And they've been doing it since 1650, or so they say). Then they are able to work together again.
Now, let’s see how this dynamic plays out in their last discussion of the season:
They come from different sides of the same experience: Crowley went to Heaven to investigate and learned about the plans to continue with the end of the world, while Aziraphale stayed defending the bookshop. Then Crowley saves the humans, while Aziraphale solved the Beelzebub + Gabriel affair.
They haven’t had time to talk, as they get interrupted by The Metatron. While he takes Aziraphale, Crowley receives a visit from Maggie and Nina.
Each one of them gained an extra different perspective: Azi, the Metatron proposal (and veiled menace); Crowley, the pep talk/scolding from the couple they were trying to get together.
This makes them develop different solutions:
Crowley wants to finally admit what Azi has been saying all the season: they are a "we" (Azi said so when Crowley talked about his “precious, peaceful, fragile existence”; he said it again when talking about “our car” and reinforced it with the bookshop)
Azi wants to take the "higher road": go to Heaven, reinstate Crowley as an angel, so they can still work together.
Crowley sees the “usual dynamic” of their disagreements coming: it will be Azi’s way (or the highway). That has happened before, in front of our eyes, and not only in this season: it happened also in season 1, but we have already attested that it is still happening, and it is even “worse” (Aziraphale being a little “petty” with the “if you do, it is fine, but if you won’t, you are on your own” in the Gabriel discussion).
Crowley gets indignant. He asks, tentatively, if he told him where to stick it… And then he reinforces his belief. We are better than that, YOU are better than that, you don’t need them, I don’t need them; then he makes the first mention of the offer of getting back to Hell (which he hadn’t shared with Aziraphale), and makes a new point: I said no, neither should you!
Aziraphale goes back to the “you are the bad guys!” thing. Heaven being the side of Truth, of Light, of Good… It is not the propaganda Crowley needed for this move.
Crowley then clarifies the fallacy in his logic: when Heaven ends life on Earth, it’ll be just as dead as if Hell ended it.
Aziraphale then sees the "undesirable result" coming: Crowley is not going to accept, not with that argument.
Crowley makes his plead grow in urgency: Tell me you said no.
Aziraphale’s pitch of voice goes high (usually used as a sign of distress): “If I’m in charge, I can make a difference.”
Crowley understands. This is his “my way or the highway” moment. That’s why he comes up with the courage to make his half-proposal-half admission.
Crowley never gets to state out loud the “I want us to be together in a formal way” part. His voice breaks before he does so. He mentions all of the reasons they have to stay together, which Aziraphale already knows: we have been together for a long time, we’ve been a group (“our own side” was the way he always said it before) and we’ve spent our existence pretending that we aren’t (Azi also knows that! He has been working hard into making Crowley notice it!)
You can see, when they shoot Aziraphale’s face, he squints a little during that moment: maybe questioning, a little disbelief? As usual with Michael Sheen, it is a blink it and you’ll miss it moment.
After the grunt, Crowley proposes his alternative solution: going off together, using Beelzebub & Gabriel as an example that they could.
Therefore, what Aziraphale has just listened is what he already knew: yes, they are a “we”. Crowley wants to run away (he had proposed it twice during the Armageddidn’t, another pattern they have already established).
The next step is the usual way for Aziraphale: he reinforces his proposal: come with me, to Heaven. Ill’ run it, you can be my second in command. This idea has rubbed me wrong since the first time I watched this scene. Why remark the hierarchy? (not to say that I’m in Crowley’s side in here, but… It was weird and uncomfortable to think of them in a vertical power structure; they have always been equals).
Then, he goes back to making a difference, only it is “we” this time. Crowley is noticing he won’t back down… But Aziraphale usually doesn’t.
“You can’t leave this bookshop” works as a representation, a figure of speech. “This Bookshop” is “This life we have been building”, and they both understand it as such.
“Oh, Crowley… Nothing lasts forever…” For Aziraphale, it means he can leave this for something greater. For Crowley, it means… Actually, the same. But without him. Because he knows the “my way or the highway” side of Aziraphale, and none of them will budge. Aaaaand… that’s Crowley heart breaking. The rest of the scene happens with Crowley in “breakup mode”.
Aziraphale is used to “the discussion dance”. He Insists, “Crowley! Come back, to Heaven, work with me! We can be together, Angels! Doing good!”. He promises all he can: “come back, work with me, we can be together”, which have always been Crowley’s triggers to change his mind. However, the problem lies within the “angels doing good”. That’s the part that Aziraphale would need to let go before getting back to Crowley.
And then, he breaks down: “I need you!!” That has always worked! Aziraphale knows that Crowley loves being needed, he won’t leave his angel when in need, right?
And then, he gets angry. And he questions if Crowley has understood what he is offering, which transforms in an “I don’t think your exactly and my exactly are the same exactly” all over again.
Crowley is already brokenhearted, so he answers truthfully, as far as he knows. He understands how terrible the offer of going back to heaven is for both of them, and is not aware of the veiled threat in Metatron’s offer. He knows that going back to Heaven is a non-negotiable boundary, and Aziraphale is absolutely determined to cross it.
Aziraphale, then, does his passive-aggressive shit again: “I guess there is nothing more to say”. My guy, my love, you need to become better at negotiating with your loved one.
This is where Crowley decides to show, don’t tell, the hurt: no nightingales. And then… The “You idiot. We could have been… us” (no, you couldn’t, it was always too late!!! First the pandemic, which I’ve decided to treat as canon, then Gabriel. They never stood a chance).
In this context, Crowley’s kiss is a desperate way to say good-bye to the person he cared most for the last 6,000 years; also an angry way to regain some semblance of control and affect Aziraphale; and a final way to get some “closure”. Is there desire? Is there love? Maybe. But they are lost in a cocktail of emotions that have been stated during the rest of the discussion.
The angry “I forgive you”, which is also a usual dynamic for Aziraphale when he is angry with Crowley, gets there too late for Crowley to react to. He has already “checked out”. That’s why the “don’t bother” feels almost like an afterthought and comes after a small sigh.
After watching this 16 times, I’m pretty confident that the first thing Aziraphale mouths is a “no…” and then… he sobs a little. Michael Sheen, you’re a beautiful actor. The rest of it is a masterclass in using microexpressions to convey a whirlwind of emotions in under 2 minutes.
Sooooo... Did I hurt my own emotions while writing this? Yes. Did I absolutely need to do so? Also yes. Even when I like doing intertextual readings (and that's why I like bringing some theology to some of my musings), reading what is in "the text" (in the scenes we have watched, in the dialogues we've been shown) gives me an enormous amount of pleasure, and I find a lot of comfort in believing that most of the things that I'll need to understand and enjoy a great piece of media are being given to me inside it. And I believe Good Omens is a great piece of media!!
I have no Shakespeare to offer you this time. Let me know what you think!!

The autistic community in this fandom has repeatedly said that Aziraphale is extremely autistic coded. Maybe we should start listening. Let's go. *SIGHS*
There's so much I could talk about the critiques I see over this mostly pretty harmless scene, but I'll try to focus on the ableism here:
Aziraphale's playfulness is called "roleplaying" and "dismissive of Crowley's feelings" here. And I must say, as an autistic person, I find it offensive bc this is an extremely autistic coded moment where Aziraphale was unmasking in front of the only person he allows himself to do so and that usually implies he was inviting Crowley to do the same, he was most likely aware of Crowley's anxiety there and making himself vulnerable to him by unmasking, inviting him into his space and vice-versa. (I think calling his special interest, magic, "horrible" is also anti-autistic bias btw)
We never see Aziraphale acting like this with any other character besides Crowley, with whom he does this repeatedly. It's not a new situation. Crowley knows this, and he is used to this kind of behaviour from Aziraphale. And he loves to complain about it btw, and Aziraphale indulges him on that. This is love. This is intimacy.
I know it isn't perfect, I know it lacks verbal communication, but this isn't abusive behaviour in the slightest. Better communication is something they both need to work on after 6k years of having to hide their feelings bc they were being persecuted and abused, the story is telling us this. We have a whole other season for that, the story isn't over.
Now, regarding the second paragraph, the plot made it painfully obvious that the clue was real, so Aziraphale was not going to Edinburgh for fun. He had to go, and Crowley knew it (he never even argued against it), bc of the mystery of Gabriel's situation thay could backfire on them in the future. Who knows what Heaven was doing to their angels (and what they could do to aziracrow!! That's why Crowley had an informant. Didn't Metatron prove this in the end, that the threat was real?). Sure, Aziraphale had fun, bc he was bonding with Crowley through the Bentley and he loves him, so that makes him happy, but that's it. We're allowed to make the most out of a bad situation, guys. It's also a way to deal with stress. Aziraphale and Crowley have different ways of dealing with stress, and both are valid, they're different people, it's normal that they react differently to a crisis.
This scene was a very married moment tbh, filled with comfort with you partner (enough to unmask), an old known and comfortable dance for the both of them, and even an invite to take a step forward in their relationship.
Food for thought: I've been wondering why the fandom likes to say Azi and Crowley are like a "married couple" but some ppl at the same time hate when they in fact act like one?
And finally, again, this is such an autistic coded moment that I, an autistic person, had the exact same interpretation as Aziraphale. I had never noticed, until I read this take, that Crowley could've meant anything other than "you don't know how to drive" lol. Aziraphale was being himself here. His true confident unmasked self. Bc Crowley allows him that. Bc Crowley makes him feel like he can. He wasn't pretending or intentionally misinterpreting or manipulating anyone. Assuming the absolute worst of him bc he interpreted something in a literal way is anti-autistic bias. Assuming the worst of him bc he doesn't use the same code as you to communicate is ableism. Assuming his decision-making logic is invalid bc of the way he acts when unmasking is both.

"An Old Married Couple"
(Why Aziraphale and Crowley have been a Couple Since the Bus Stop, Part 2)
Mini-Meta Musing # 7
After the Almost-Apocalypse and outwitting the deadly powers of Hell and Heaven, our Ineffable Heroes were finally left alone so they could finally be together. Commtting to that choice was their Heroes' Reward. There was nothing either of them truly wanted more than the chance to be "Us", enjoying the world they both love.
When Season 2 opened, we knew (at least for a little while) what we were seeing. An "old married couple!" Whether arguing, apologizing, reconciling and diving back into their teamwork, the compatibility was flawless. In a long-term relationship, that's not the same as "perfect."
They are mature Beings who are secure in their relationship. They are a couple who is completely at ease with each other, who understand each other’s rhythms and flaws, and who love each other, flaws and all. Imperfect and sweet.
They still like holding hands. They naturally are comfortable being close to each other now. Flirting has evolved to natural physical contact. There's more touch, more closeness, more comfortable easiness. They look and move like a long-established couple.
Crowley knows just what makes his Angel want to call him on the phone when they're apart. And it's almost all the time-- when Azi's bored, proud, or worried!
And although they're apparently not living together, they "both get plenty of use out of the bookshop." I don't get the impression that they're apart most of the time, do you?
Crowley's startled that there's a "naked man" in the bookshop, but he's not stressed or jealous. He's goes right back to trying to figure out how he can help. Look at Azi's face when he introduces Crowley to Nina. "We go back... a long time," said with a heartfelt sigh full of memories.
The first time Aziraphale mentions "Jim", Crowley is puzzled. It's a truly adorable line that long-term couples will recognize -- "Do we know a Jim?" Not "I don't think I know a Jim." The "WE" of an established couple making a holiday list. "Should we invite Jim?" "Do we know a Jim?"
The arrival of Gabriel shatters their peace. We are rejoining them at the onset of a crisis. We miss out on the calm, sweet relationship-building that happened in between seasons.
They are who they are -- Like any long-time couple, the stress leads to an argument. Azi eventually does a fine pout, and Crowley eventually storms off, complete with lightning bolts. But even while they quarreled, look at the improved moments of connection.
Azi was so anxious before he told Crowley about "Jim." Once it's out, Aziraphale is calm and reasoned. He trusts that even if Crowley doesn't agree, he'll listen.
Crowley is worried for Aziraphale. The memory of "Shut your mouth and die already" is still vivid and triggering for him. Yet, Crowley stops mid-rant to clarify and to connect -- "What does your 'Exactly' mean, exactly? I feel like your exactly and my exactly are different 'exactly's'."
Crowley returns later, knowing his temper got the better of him. Azi is secure enough in their relationship to actually show genuine anger -- not a sulk, or petulance, or a high pitched semi-meltdown. Just outrage. He wasn't heard. He wants a proper apology. If he didn't feel safe in the relationship, he wouldn't insist on something that's not easy for Crowley. Especially with a DANCE!
Despite his embarassment, Crowley does the Apology Dance. He knows his Angel deserves it. He admits he was wrong, and that Azi was right. This isn't a young couple avoiding talking about problems. This is an "old married couple" who've had the same exact argument for years -- the topic changes, but they’re both aware of the patterns that keep playing out. They're both working on it. They both understand it. Apology made and accepted. 'Nuff said. Let's get to work!
Sometimes, in "old married couples," we forget the playful romance amidst all the problems. It's not a romantic reunion when Aziraphale gets back from Edinburgh. Look at his face -- he'd hoped it would be! Crowley, Mister Practical, just shoves the plants in his arms. He used to woo his Angel at every turn, gazing and rescuing and being helpful. Now, in this established relationship, life is more "ordinary" -- the plants need to be put back in the car? Sure, of course we do it together... Btw, welcome home!
Aziraphale, ever the hopeless romantic of the pair, steals the romantic moments whenever he can:
In my marriage, I'm the playful one, and this feels very familiar! Grumpy partner needs reminded that there's more to our life together than all the problems (bills to pay, archangels to hide). Playful partner tugs them into something FUN...! Again, look at Azi's smile as he's pulling Crowley out onto the dance floor. No worries, no uncertainty, no nervousness. Just the excited grin, then a smile of complete confidence and satisfaction.
This isn't a "first date" dance. It's a reminder to not get lost in the stress. "Don't just toss plants at me to carry, My Dear. I Love You, so I'll gladly do it, but let's not forgot there's romance in life too!"
And despite the literal Demons-at-the-Doorstep, Crowley lets himself get led onto the dance floor, no questions, doubts, or resistance. No surprise either! There's important stuff Crowley needs to tell his Angel, but he still dances in flawless partnership.

Quarters. What does the price of “Bullet Catch” mean?
(Перевод на русский в конце поста/Translation into Russian at the end of the post)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
I continue to watch how beautifully numbers are integrated into season 2. This is the language of symbols. The numbers that were used when talking about the price of the “Catch the Bullet” trick tell me about death and about love. Look!
I will use the hint again - the clock in fin-15.
They are important, this is indicated by the ticking throughout the final conversation between Aziraphale and Crowley. Because the clock is a clue.
9 o'clock is three quarters of 12 o'clock, a round dial.
25 minutes is a quarter of 100, a round number.
This is a symbol of the fact that in the finale there was a mismatch of encodings at Azicrow. But the clock is also the key to the riddle that is hidden in the price of the trick. We see that the quarters are important.
The cost of the trick "Bullet Catch".
To understand the prices that were announced in 1941 in the trick shop, I must say that in those years 20 shillings were equal to one pound. According to the plot, "catch the bullet" is a story about the threat of death and about love. The numbers confirm this twice, I will tell you now. "2", "4" and "8" are symbols of happy couples.
And "3" is a symbol of death (three swords in the trick shop). And three quarters mean misunderstanding in a couple, as a missing segment for happiness. So, we were told that:
7 pounds and 5 shillings is the cost of "Catch the Bullet" 4 pounds and 15 shillings is the cost of a rifle
We can notice that:
5 shillings is a quarter 15 shillings is three quarters 4 pounds is the number of love. 7 pounds? But why?
Yes, God loves sevens. But in the system of clues, fours and eights are opposed to threes. And sevens do not carry a symbolic load, except to mean Heaven, as sixes mean Hell. But here the seven gives an interesting effect: reasoning leads to the meaning “love and death”.
Let's begin the investigation!
First meaning. 4 + 3 = 7 (love + death).
Second meaning.
The price of the rifle together with the trick is 12 pounds. If it were not for this 7, then 12 would not have been obtained. (7 pounds + 4 pounds + 5 shillings + 20 shillings = 12 pounds)
"12"! The seller Goldstone said that during the performance of this trick 12 people died. A bad omen!
But 12 is divisible by both 4 and 3, which means it contains both love and death.
So, 7 pounds? Why? Because this seven tells us twice: “love and death.”
Crowley offered to pay 27 pounds and 5 shillings for the trick.
Why this price?
If "27" is a quarter, then 27 * 4 = 108.
108 = 100 + 8. 100 is the complete number of minutes on the clock, if the 25 minutes we see are a quarter. 8 is also a good omen.
And "27" is 2 + 7 = 9.
"9" is the hour hand, 9 o'clock is three quarters of a circle.
How much did Crowley add on top of the required price?
The trick cost £12. So he added £15 and 5 shillings.
First meaning. The numbers 15 and 5 themselves resemble three quarters and a quarter (of the number 20). Second meaning. 15 is a quarter of the 60 minutes on the dial. 5 shillings is a quarter of a pound.
I wonder if "quarter" and "three quarters" mean Aziraphale and Crowley respectively, or vice versa, Crowley and Aziraphale. Maybe one quarter is a smaller, weaker and more dependent partner? In a subconscious understanding - more passive? Or maybe, on the contrary, one segment of the circle resembles an active penetration into the space of the other three quarters. On the one hand, by adding money for the purchase, Crowley adapts to Aziraphale's desire, indulges him, as if recognizing his leadership. But on the other hand - by doing this, he takes control of the situation, using his wallet. Interpret it as you want, whether this is a passive or active position. :) In my opinion, the duality of meanings is beautiful. Each of the husbands complements the second to the whole! ❤️
Bonus:
Azi uses the word "quite".
Crowley: "Are you sure you are sure?" Aziraphale: "Quite sure".
And that word sounds like "quarter". Sounds play a role in this symbolic language, too.
More amazing finds in Good Omens S2 are here.
Кроули “Are you sure you are sure? (Ты уверен, что уверен?)” Ази: “Quite sure(вполне уверен)”
И это слово похоже на quarter(четверть), а созвучия тоже играют роль в этом языке символов.
Больше удивительных открытий в "Благих знамениях" здесь.

Blissful eternity
Summary
Aziraphale wants to finish his book, but a certain cuddly demon has no intention of letting him.
What follows is a debate of the utmost importance: Who's sweeter? The demon or the angel?
Notes
Alert: sweetness overdose...
On Ao3
Rating G - 980 words
"Angel."
Aziraphale, rather engrossed in what he was reading, refused to acknowledge Crowley's call and did not answer.
Trying to concentrate on the next paragraph, however, he couldn't help but be aware of the demon's body moving against his own as his voice, a little more plaintive, murmured softly, "Angeeeel."
Aziraphale, leaning against the headboard, tried to control his annoyance and, lowering his eyes to the demon whose head rested on his thigh, said softly, "Crowley, my dear, I've almost finished the penultimate chapter of this novel, and I'd like to finish it tonight."
Crowley lifted his eyes to look at him and cheekily replied, "Aziraphale, you always have your nose buried in a book and eternity ahead of you, don't you think you'll have plenty of time to finish your novel?"
The stubborn angel replied, "Yes, but I want to finish it today."
Crowley then sighed exaggeratedly, crawled along Aziraphale until he was sitting next to the angel, and dropped his head on his shoulder without saying a word.
From then on, Aziraphale felt that it would be difficult, if not impossible, for him to finish his book tonight, but he tried anyway.
"Crowley..."
The demon hummed, rubbing his cheek against the angel's shoulder.
"I can barely read when you're like this."
Crowley chuckled softly and replied, "I don't see why, I'm not doing anything and I'm not even stopping you from turning the pages."
Aziraphale sighed, "Crowley..."
It was all in vain .
Crowley didn't have to do anything to distract Aziraphale; just the feel of his body, his face, his breath so close was enough to keep his full attention on the demon.
The angel closed his book before placing it on the nightstand, all without moving the demon leaning against him, then asked, trying to sound annoyed but not quite succeeding, "Crowley, what do you want?"
The demon wrapped his arms around the angel's neck and replied matter-of-factly, "I want hugs.
Aziraphale was defeated.
Not by puppy eyes.
Not by the warmth of the body pressed against his.
Not even by his gentle smile.
But only by the longing he'd heard in Crowley's voice.
How could he refuse when Crowley was baring himself like this, demanding without reserve?
Aziraphale didn't answer and wrapped his arms around the demon's waist, pulling him closer until Crowley had no choice but to straddle him.
Then he raised his hand, pushing back the slightly disheveled red hair, and said softly, "You're lucky you're sweet."
Crowley pouted slightly and retorted, "You're lucky I'm too eager for a cuddle to take offense at you saying I, a demon, am sweet."
Aziraphale chuckled softly before wrapping his arms around the demon once more and pressing him against his chest. The demon, his arms around his waist, buried his head in his neck, and Aziraphale pressed a light kiss into his hair before resting his chin on Crowley's head.
After a few moments, Aziraphale replied, "But you are, whether you take offense or not, you are sweet."
He felt the demon squirm in his arms at the praise, but the angel continued anyway, "I'm sorry to tell you, but the way you just asked me what you were in the mood for was absolutely sweet. And I couldn't resist."
The demon grumbled into his neck, "Angel, in our couple, it's known that you're the sweet one and I'm the grumpy one."
Aziraphale laughed and replied, "How about we say we're both sweet."
"You're 75% sweet and I'm 25% sweet."
The angel replied, "How about I'm 60% sweet and you're 40%."
"You're 70% and I'm 30%."
Aziraphale laughed again and replied, "It's a deal."
He felt the demon straighten up and Crowley now had his face in front of him as he wrapped his arms around the angel's neck.
"Let's seal the deal."
Crowley didn't let Aziraphale answer and pressed his lips to his in a light kiss before burying his head in the angel's neck again, saying against his skin, "And now, no more bargaining, I just want my cuddles."
Aziraphale breathed against the demon's hair, "Sweet."
Then he laughed as Crowley growled at him, "Angel..."
They remained like that for a long moment, entwined against the headboard, until Crowley raised his head again and pressed his lips to the angel's once more, in a kiss that was longer and deeper than the previous one, but just as sweet.
As the kiss lingered, they slowly slipped into a reclining position, and when they finally parted to catch their breath, the demon was lying on top of the angel. Framing his face with his hands, he murmured softly against his lips, "I love you."
He pressed one last soft kiss to Aziraphale's lips before sliding down on the bed against him, his head resting on the angel's chest. Aziraphale wrapped his arm around his shoulder and with his other hand pulled the covers over their entwined bodies, whispering "I love you" against the demon's forehead before pressing a lingering kiss to it.
After a few moments of silence, Aziraphale added softly in an amused tone, "Looks like I won't be finishing that book tonight."
Crowley pressed a kiss to his chest and mockingly replied, "I'll allow you to lay all the blame on a cuddly demon who's 30% sweet."
Aziraphale laughed, quickly joined by said sweet cuddly demon.
A little later, in the silence, just as sleep was about to overtake them, Crowley could still hear the angel whispering into his hair, "You said I had eternity to finish this book, but I'm capable of putting off my reading indefinitely if it means an eternity of moments like this with you."
Crowley smiled, then hummed in response before nuzzling the angel a little more, finally letting sleep take him, the smile still on his lips.
He had absolutely nothing against an eternity of such blissful moments.

Good Omens Headcannons cuz I'm bored and why not
1. Crowley overthinks a lot and its so dumb but so cute. The few things he still overthinks a lot about: When Aziraphale told him "You go too fast for me, Crowley" he knew that it wasn't his driving at all and thinks its something else ( which, in all fairness, is something else). He also thinks that Aziraphale doesn't like his name and always tries to think of one that the angel might actually like.
2. Aziraphale does not have a specific gender cause he thinks its nothing really to think about while Crowley basically tries to own every single on of them.
3. Aziraphale learned to dance the "gavotte" thinking that one day, he and Crowley can dance it. Bonus: an improvised closing step done by couples dancing the gavotte is to kiss each other, I bet Azi knew that and instantly thought of Crowley. ( i think this is a little bit canon )
4. Crowley created the endearment "angel" ( I think this is kinda canon somehow )
5. CANON : When Anathema first met the two, she thought they were together because Crowley called Aziraphale "angel" ( at least in the books )
HEADCANON : When she found out they weren't together, she kept telling them how they were MADE FOR EACH OTHER.
6. God is there no.1 shipper. (Me at 2nd place tho-)
7. Aziraphale reads smvt for fun and isn't emberrassed about it because he literally normalizes it.
8. Crowley never hated Gabrielle that much until he and Azi "switched" and found out how they treated his angel. He wanted to punch him so much but kept his composure because he thought Aziraphale might get mad at him. ( also MIGHT be canon but I'm not really sure )
9.1.Azira definitely fell in love with Crowley when they first met as angels and then either 1, didn't know what it was but he just knew he wanted to be with Crowley for the rest of eternity, or 2, he realized that it was love which they thought was wrong so he supressed those feelings because he knew or thought that they weren't going to return those feelings for him. Whether it was situation 1 or 2, Aziraphale was just content with the fact that he was there with Crowley, he may not be able to tell ( or even know ) his feeling for the other, he's still happy to be there with/for him.
9.2. When Crowley fell ( sauntered vaguely downwords ) he thought he lost everything, but then he saw an angel, he saw Aziraphale. And then when they talked so easily with him like almost nothing really happened and that he gave the humans his flaming sword, she realized that she fell in love with Azi. He already knew that Aziraphale was kind of special for him, he just didn't really see it. It also made him aware of his situation where in any time and moment, he can lose everything to him like how he lost his "everything" back in heaven.
9.3. In the WWII flashback, where the actor Michael Sheen, who plays Aziraphale, describes the look Azira gave Crowley after he saved his books the "final look" implying that he realized that he really did fall for Crowley that hard AND that he thinks the're might be a chance for Crowley to love him back. (again. idiots in love who are bad at communicating with each other)
10. Crowley loves being complimented by his angel but he wouldn't show it because he thinks Azi might think he's weird ( he's overthingking it again )
11. Crowley changes his hair over the centuries/years to see which ones Azi likes/compliments the most. ( Aziraphale seemed to compliment or notice whenever Crowley grows his hear out so during GO2 she was growing it out)
12. Zir pronounce for Beelzebub. ( idk if I'm using them right ngl, i just saw neil's tumblr post )
13. Azi knows how to drive a car ( more specifically his and Crowley's Bentley ) but he likes it better when the foul fiend drives him to his bookshop.
14. Crowley is cold-blooded because he's a snake. ( might be canon but idc tbh )
15. Crowley and Aziraphale can change what they look like ( change SOME things ahout their body ) but are afraid to do so because they think the other won't recognize them.
16. Whenever they had a "huge fight", Crowley would buy, -miracle- Azi first-hand books while Aziraphale buys him different kinds of wine/plants.
17. Before Armage-didn't and when they would be separated because of a certain miracle-ing mission from their head offices for a long time, they would send secret letters to each other and if the're not able to, Crowley re-reads the letters his angel sends to him while Aziraphale listens to the playlists Crowley recommends him throughout exchanging letters. ( don't worry, Crowley knows very well what kind of music his angel is into ) ( also i can imagine Crowley being like "This song reminded me of you <3" with a song either something to be funny like liturgical music or heartfelt songs from Hozier or David Bowie )
18. The bentley prefers Aziraphale as it's driver (shhh, don't tell Crowley )
19. Crowley turns into his snake form when he's sad. But when he's EXTREMELY sad he goes to the pub and tries to discorporate by intoxicating the body he currently has. ( He fails though, all the time )
20. After Beelze appeared randomly in the Bentley with the flies on S2Ep1, the Bentley would suddenly go feral whenever there is an insect inside/near it. ((When I said feral I mean; it starts making weird engine sounds, it plays random and mixed songs , it's lights and gears would flicker on and off, etc))
21. After Crowley fell, heaven gave him snake eyes so that, even though a bit difficult, he can still see the stars he created. ( Heaven didn't give him the eyes of an animal that can't see or completely blind because they want him to suffer with the fact that he can never perfectly see his creations again )
22. One day, Azira heard of a new band that was getting quite popular called "Queen". It happened that Crowley had a new car and decided that, as a gift, it needed some, unintentionally permanent, music. (( Found this one on tiktok and thought it was sweet ))

I saw you write that sometimes Crowley's a woman but Azi is gay. He's not going down on that? THE SOUTHERN PANSY.
Bold of you to assume that there is a situation of any variety of consenting being that Aziraphale has not, at one point in time or another, put in his mouth. That angel is a scholar of oral delights over there. He enjoys a ginger muffin. Whatever's happening beneath Crowley's snakey hips at any given time is fine by Aziraphale because Crowley is more than fine by Aziraphale.
I almost didn't answer this at all and part of me still wants to go on a tirade about it instead but I'm being nice because I think you might just be confused. I'm choosing to believe that, anyway, rather than presume anything darker. If I may offer some advice for real life, though? Loosen up your labels a bit and you'll open yourself up to better experiences. People are people. You might be surprised what attracts you when you start taking away your preconceived notions of gender and sexuality.
Aziraphale's Library has a genderfluid Crowley tag. Why not read a couple?

I think that Good Omens, Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss share more comparisons than originally thought. I’ll get the basic info out of the way. The colour palette of the three are obviously similar because they both take inspiration from the famous Christian and Dante Inferno versions of Hell. “3 rings down” from Helluva Boss. And general world building. “two sides of the same coin” Yin Yang idea that Heaven and Hell share in all 3 shows. In the fact that they are all awful and I hope death is just hanging out in a pit alone. Like where Laura Moon was supposed to go in American Gods after her death. The relationships between Stolas and Bliz represent the worse version of Azi and Crowley. The miscommunication, lack of respect and boundaries, divided by class. Fizz and Ozzie are like Bebzebub and Gabriel/Jim, the better version of both couples. The way they could be if they were honest, not to mention adorable. But because Stolas is a heartbroken idiot and Blitz doesn’t think he deserves love. And Azi and Crowley are just idiots pointe blank and shove their feelings down a hole and ignore it. The shared love of ducks between Lucifer and Crowley is very interesting to me, which represent how they both feel like ugly ducklings compared to their peers for not fitting in. Crowley never belonged anywhere, the world doesn’t like dreamers. Lucifer has apples in his design, his hat and cane, a reminder that his dreams failed. The reason why he didn’t believe in the Hazbin Hotel to begin with. He never got to see the good free will did to humanity and carries it around to remind himself of his failure. Crowley IS free will personified in the Good Omens universe. He WAS the snake that tempted Adam and Eve. And continues to use that to joke with Aziraphale. “Could l tempt you to a spot of lunch?” He was the first being who thought for himself and was punished, he was gifted imagination like Charlie, and is berated for wanting better. Emily is a more assertive Aziraphale, when she hears what happens to souls in Hell, she jumps to Charlie’s side without hesitation. Something Azi wishes he could do, to not have his religious trauma run so deep, and to heal Crowley heal from his. Angel Dust is a much more desperate version of Crowley if he was still under Heaven, used and abused, threatened with power imbalance. Husker is his Aziraphale. Helping him out of the hole he dug himself into.
In conclusion, Everyone needs a hug, let me know if you think there are any comparisons I missed!

You mention that aziraphale gives crowley a tartan thermos and and gives him reasons to live in the 1967 scene for fear the crowley might off himself but then why would he say "you go to fast for me" knowing it would hurt crowley and potentially damage their relationship?
Okay so first off thanks for the ask anon! I had to read this several to think about how I would go about explaining (theorizing?) this. This might be a long one so buckle up everybody! (we wil also be discussing season 2 so if you don't want to read potential theories/spoilers, then please dont read)
First I feel we need to try to understand what Aziraphale meant when he said the infamous line:
When I first read the book, I didn't quite understand what Azi meant by this, and when I first watched the show in 2020 I didn't understand why he decided to talk about their relationship at that moment. It only took me a couple more rewatches and understanding of their characters to realize it's about their relationship but it isn't.
I feel like to uderstand this we need to look at both their characters: Crowley likes to move fast, not only while driving (which Aziraphale is pretending to discus here) but in his day to day life and decisions. We see this time and time again throughout their 6,000 years. Crowley changes his hair and his clothes all the time, he's with the times of humanity and adapts to their new ways and technology that we see no other celestial character can quite acomplish like him. And I think fundementally that boils down to the fact that Crowley gets bored! He gets bored of a hairstyle or style and so he just gets a new one, he gets tired of things and goes and creates mischief. I also think both his innate curiosity and boredom is part of the reason for his fall (he got bored and curious and started hanging out with the wrong people.) I've also noticed unlike Aziraphale who likes "calming" hobbies (which I'll touch on in a bit) Crowley doesnt. He doesn't sit and savor food, he usually only consumes liquids, which can usually be consumed quickly. The only slow hobby he does is sleep, but it seems he's very black and white about it; either sleeping for several years in a row or seemingly not sleeping or sleeping very little.
Aziraphale on the other hand is very old fashioned and likes to take things slow and 'smell the flowers'. He has had the same haircut SINCE THE BEGINNING OF LITERAL TIME! And rarley changes his outfits. He isn't very intune with humanities inventions and latest discoveries. And his hobbies consist of him sitting and enjoying his food bite by bite or sitting down to read a book. I also think Aziraphale is somewhat old fashioned in his thinking. In season one, one of his biggest faults was that he stil inherently wanted to belive that Heaven was fundementally good. We see this show in some of his conversations/arguements with Crowley in the early days where he puts what crowley does down to him just being a demon, and in the argument scene Azi stil cant get over the fact that they are angel and demon.
So what am I getting at? I'm trying to say that I think Azi has realzied their differences, and more specifically, he has figured out how easily Crowley gets bored, and I think at sometime between the 1940s church bombing and the 1967 scene, that he has started to worry that Crowley will eventually get bored of him, or more specifcally, if he was to want and try for a non platonic relationsip with Crowley, that he would get tired of it and move on to something else, leaving Azi who doesn't like change, absoloutely crushed. And I think the reason he's alluding to it when he's handing Crowley the holy water is because he's afraid Crowley has finally grew bored of life itself, and that's the reason he's asking for the holy water.
I also want to point out that the new 1940's scene could change this depending on what happens after the church bombing, but unless one of them tries to make a move (specifically Crowley) I don't understand why Azi would say Crowley is going to fast with their relationship in any other way ONLY.
I also don't think Azi was trying to hurt Crowley, I think it was just weighing heavily on his mind, and when Crowley offered him a ride, he just couldn't really hold the thought in any longer? You know what I mean? It has had at least 20 odd years to marinate in his mind.
Finally, I want to touch on Neil's "Aziraphale has started picking up the pace" line, and I believe this is refering to him coming to the realization that neither side is good, and what side their on should not limit them and their relatioship (like Crowley has discovered for ages now) and is starting to get bored of the way they've been treated and had to keep their friendship secret. Thus his sudden "I thought we carved this out for ourselves"
I hope this wasn't too long, and helped you understand in some way what I was trying to say!

A Breakdown of Aziraphale’s “I Forgive You” : Some Possible Explanations
What did the “I forgive you” mean? On first watch, it confused and angered me, but now that I’ve had some time to think about it and read other’s takes I think I have a good idea on what Aziraphale meant.
There are a few theories going around, and only a couple I’ve seen that I disagree with, such as Azi forgiving Crowley for being a demon. Sure, Azi wishes Crowley was an angel, but I don’t think that’s what he meant at that moment. Looking at his facial expressions, it’s obvious that he was feeling bitter instead of merciful. And that’s when we usually see Azi forgive others: when he’s hurt but still does his best to be angelic and retain his morals. That’s why I also don’t think Azi was saying “I love you” in that moment either; he does love Crowley, but again he was suppressing a lot of anger so his emotions don’t line up with that theorized thought. What I really think Azi was forgiving Crowley for is three things: turning down his offer to go to Heaven, tempting him with a kiss, and calling Azi an idiot.
Aziraphale thought he had made the perfect plan: Crowley could get a second chance, they could be together without Heaven and Hell on their tails, and they could help fix the world. Which would be acceptable now! The show implies that Crowley got in trouble for making suggestions on what God should do, but if he was made into an archangel (maybe for the second time? But that’s another theory for another day), he could do basically whatever he wanted. Aziraphale doesn’t understand how toxic Heaven is like Crowley does. Crowley’s fallen from Heaven and he’s seen how the archangels treated Azi when they swapped bodies (remember the “shut your stupid mouth and die already”?). Crowley can’t go back. He will never be an angel. Azi hardly understands this because Crowley has kept him in the dark. Which is understandable, but as you can see has brought up a lot of issues.
Aziraphale is also afraid of being with Crowley but simultaneously wants it more than anything. There’s been this conflict inside of him for centuries between what Heaven wants and what he wants. Executing this plan would bring so much relief for Azi because their love would finally be acceptable in Heaven’s eyes. This would be the perfect happy ending. This is his love confession! What screams love more than “I want to be with you forever. I want to give you a second chance because I see the good in you, even if you don’t. I want everyone to see you as I do. I want you to smile again like you did all those years ago.”?
But that’s all thrown away when Crowley says no. And from Azi’s point of view, Crowley is unnecessarily double-downing on his hate for Heaven. Crowley would throw away their entire relationship just because he has some beef with them? Is he really being that petty and demonic? So, Azi forgives him for ending their relationship like this, because he thinks he has a better idea of what’s best for them. His forgiveness basically boils down to “Fuck, off, I’m right, how dare you leave me on my own.”
The second reason Aziraphale forgave Crowley is because he knew the kiss was a temptation. And, essentially, it was. Crowley at that point would do anything to get his angel to stay, and he knows how much Aziraphale loves earthly pleasures. Remember in season 1 where Crowley convinces Aziraphale to try to stop Armageddon by reminding him of all the things he loves about Earth? His books, tea, food, music, etc. And don’t forget that ox rib scene. If Aziraphale reacted like THAT to an ox rib, then how much more wild is he going to react to a kiss? So sure, Crowley knew what he was doing, but his intentions weren’t as malicious as Aziraphale thought they were. Crowley meant to say “I love you and I can’t bear to see you go. Fuck it if kissing you is what’s going to make you stay then I’ll do it, no matter how much vulnerability I show.” But from Azi’s perspective, Crowley is using his demonic tendencies to manipulate Aziraphale in this “gotcha, I know you can’t leave now” kind of way. So, Aziraphale feels betrayed- just like how Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss- and forgives Crowley for that too. Later on we can see how that kiss finally sets in when Azi touches his lips- but he still knows he has a duty to protect Earth and stick to his plan.
Finally, this point is pretty short, but Crowley called Aziraphale an idiot, and Azi forgave Crowley for that insult.
There is a lot to unpack in Azi’s forgiveness. There’s no guarantee Aziraphale meant any of these things when he forgave Crowley, but from what we can gather we can make some pretty strong assumptions on what he meant. Also, as a quick bonus, the “don’t bother” from Crowley means that he isn’t sorry for his feelings, because that’s what he thinks Aziraphale is saying: that he forgives Crowley for loving him. Also, Crowley thinks he’s unforgivable anyway, so Aziraphale shouldn’t bother with it.
Anyways, I know that was long, and I haven’t nearly said all I wanted to about The Final Fifteen in general, but that’s going to be it for today. If y’all like my takes then let me know and I’ll post some more breakdowns of Good Omens!

guys i've just been struck by a haunting query
y'know how i'm rewatching good omens for the nth time and i'm reaching the final episode, but something just came up to my mind and i can find no satisfactory answer...
in s2 ep1 (i believe) azi and crowley wonderfully perform half a miracle each, but obviously heaven notices and sends its best unit to check on what's happening in the bookshop. personally, i've always thought that said joint miracle was /that/ powerful because the metatron had already appointed aziraphale as gabriel's substitute archangel somehow (in my view, the metatron's offer to aziraphale at the end of s2 is just a pure formality as he had already made up his mind wayyyyyyy before going down on earth and meeting up with azi themselves). therefore their half a miracle was much stronger than crowley's.
here's where trouble comes. ever since i've rewatched that scene with my brother (who is doing an incredible job at keeping up with all sorts of gomens stuff on his first watch), i've been wondering if that's really what happened there. what is the actual reason why the combined miracle halves are so distinctive, fierce and recognisable?
my brother suggested the idea that aziraphale and crowley have little to do with it - the only reason why the miracle resonates so clearly and strongly is because they are performing it on gabriel (while holding both his hands). i guess he means that gabriel still has some of his powers left (as throughout the show he gets part of his memory back at random times and recites lines from the bible + he hasn't actually forgotten everything about himself) or that he is a very special entity of interest for heaven therefore whenever someone interacts with him there's a sort of alarm going off (?).
another idea that i got recently is, quite honestly, a very romantic one as aziracrow are both involved in doing a good deed. since love is the strongest power ever, in any universe and reality, and these two idiots' feelings are clearly mutual (without them knowing), maybe the miracle turned out to be so huge and mighty because what they're feeling for each other influenced the miracle itself and sort of multiplied its efficiency? i mean, i'd make sense somehow as later on we find out that another power couple is involved (gabriel and beelzebub). aziracrow's love for each other sort of mirrors beelzebub and gabriel's, i guess? but both their relationships are supposed to be a secret since heaven and hell should not ever collaborate (and i'm not even mentioning dating here).
what do you think? what is, in your opinion, the reason why the joint miracle halves worked but got inevitably noticed by heaven?
(it could also be that the answer has been given in the show and i'm too big of an idiot to find it out so please put up with my me. i'm just a dumbass in adoration of two more ineffable dumbasses.)

"Somewhat Heroes" (or, Why Our Ineffables have been a Couple Since the Bus Stop, Part 1)
Mini-Meta Musing #5
Our Dear Ineffables have always been heroes to us. The Almost-Apocalypse in Season 1 pushed Aziraphale and Crowley farther than anything they'd ever encountered before. Each went through a crisis, a loss, and an individual journey during the final days of those events. It's the Classic Heroes Journey, right? Surprisingly, their stories don't reflect the 12 Classic Heroes Journey Moments. Or even the top 7. On purpose? Yep.
Although they made heroic choices at the airport, they were supporting-characters in that climax. It was the Them who stopped the Four Horsemen, Anathema and Newt who prevented nuclear war, and Adam who altered reality and saved the world. Azi and Crowley were "Somewhat Heroes." Kinda ordinary. Almost like Humans Incarnate -- just getting through by doing the best they can.
Nonetheless, Crowley and Aziraphale each came out of it all a changed Being, ready for a New Life. Ready to choose each other.
At the end of a Heroes Journey, the Hero has earned a Reward. For Our Ineffables, their reward was to finally be together, safely, without fear. There was nothing either of them truly wanted more than the chance to be "Us", enjoying the world they both love.
They held hands on the bus because they wanted to. 💕 The Ineffable Commitment began that evening. They were together as a couple from that moment on. The next day, the nightingale sang for them.
Crowley subtly offers his hand, bringing it down from the rail. He can feel the change. Aziraphale takes his hand, holds it. Finally. It was a moment of Truth for the angel. The significance of that gesture of affection was something he'd been carefully avoiding for a very long time.
We can see in the gif that Azi is looking straight ahead as he reaches for Crowley's hand. This moment matters deeply to him. He's crossing a threshold of commitment to this relationship, and it took a great deal of courage, and a great deal of love.
But neither of them could have fully reached this point without going through the Transformative Journey of a "Somewhat Hero."
When Aziraphale and Crowley argued at the bandstand in S1 E3, Aziraphale was still trusting in God's Plan. It was Inconceivable that he would Ever consider killing the child-Antichrist -- he would rather jeopardize their friendship with emotional protests and hurtful words.
When a frightened Crowley later finds him, apologizes, and proposes running away, Azi isn't angry any longer... "Our side" isn't really over... He doesn't reject Crowley. He's simply completely determined in his faith that God will fix everthing. There's even a moment where he seems to (very!) briefly imagine running away to Alpha Centauri.
Oh, he's not seriously considering leaving. Certainly not now -- the world needs saving, if he can just find the right person to fix it all.
For the Somewhat-Heroes Journey of our Ineffable duo, it's noteworthy that, unlike the Classic Hero Journey, there is no Yoda or Obi-wan, no Gandalph or Professor X to guide them. There is no "Meeting the Mentor". They are on their own, with no one but each other to rely on. It's been that way since... well, since The Beginning, when they weren't even quite sure that they'd made choices "their sides" would approve of.
After this brief meeting, they part, and each "Crosses the Threshold", continuing the Journey alone. Azi heartbreakingly learns that his shoud-be mentors/authorities are only uncaring bullies. Crowley must steel himself to face what he believes he fears most -- punishers from Hell. He survives, he wins! "Tests, Allies, & Enemies". They've never had any allies but each other, but right now, they don't even have that.
The next step for Classic Heroes is the "Approach to the Inmost Cave", the inner preparation for the difficult ordeal. I don't see it for our Dear Somewhat Heroes. Maybe I'm missing something... But it seems to me that what makes them different from Classic Heroes is that they're US, they're just very human and doing their best to cope with the dramatic circumstances they keep finding themselves in.
Even when they decided to thwart the Apocalypse 11 years ago, they planned to do it quietly, subversively, no heroic gestures and with what they hoped was minimal risk. Now, with a young Antichrist coming into power with a Hell Hound at his side, Aziraphale and Crowley are just making it up as they go, doing their best and trying to survive, like any of us might.
Ah, but next is "The Ordeal". The Ordeal is when the Hero faces their most deadly enemy, or their deepest fear. They must experience a metaphorical "death and resurrection" to be transformed -- everything they hold dear is on the line. Aziraphale and Crowley each face this, two diverging paths that tear them apart and bring them back together.
The burning bookshop is Crowley's "Inmost Cave", his darkest ordeal. Until now, Crowley's fears of the tortures of Hell limited him. I don't think he fully realized until this moment that the greatest fear of his existance was actually losing Aziraphale forever.
Everything that actually matters to Crowley is destroyed, and the empty space to his right holds nothing but flames. He is broken, and drunkenly waits for The End, lost in painful memories, a metaphorical death of Self.
As everyone but our angel expected, Heaven fails Aziraphale. In his "Ordeal", he is discorporated, pulled into Heaven to prepare for war. the encounter with the Metatron was his "Inmost Cave". What Azi thought was his greatest fear, what he had avoided fully facing for millennia, turns out to be true. Heaven isn't actually Good, it can neither be trusted nor relied on. His corporation has literally "died" in the accidental chain of events from this encounter. Everything he holds dear is now on the line -- the world, its people, and most of all, Crowley. The empty space to his left holds nothing but the glaring emptiness of Heaven. This simply won't do!
Aziraphale "Seizes the Sword" first. For the first time ever, he faces a higher authority, looks them straight in the eye, and defies them. No more fawning, no stammering. He's done with trying to fit in and "act like an angel". Azi is stronger now, TRANSFORMING. He's going Home, and if that means possessing someone in a very non-angelic rather-demonic way, that's perfectly fine. He knows a very nice demon who will understand perfectly!
Crowley, alone in the bar, has no idea there is still Hope. He's lost everything. Aziraphale's return reignites him -- now our beloved demon will do and can do Anything to reunite with Aziraphale. His Angel is his "Reward", and Crowley faces down Hastur fearlessly, in total control of an inane situation. With sheer will and imagination, he drives through unsurvivable hellfire, and holds the Bentley together, determined to reach the Being he LOVES. HE IS TRANSFORMED.
Why do our own hearts flutter as we watch this scene? We recognize a Romantic Hero. Crowley has a new level of confident swagger, an extra swing in his hips. He will win his Beloved, and we have the backlit romantic silhouettes of classic cinema to prove it. The deep gentleness when he leans in and murmurs, "Leave it to me" always makes my heartbeat jump just a little more...!
The car explodes, reality returns, Crowley can't "fix" everything... But Azi again doesn't act like an angel -- it's up to him to deal with the soldier. When they encounter the child Antichrist, Aziraphale is ready to shoot if he must. He was broken and reborn, he no longer trusts Heaven and their rules. Instead, He Trusts Crowley. What was a horrific thought to him when they fought at the bandstand is now his free choice. He fires the weapon to kill the enemy and save everything he loves. Thankfully, Mdm. Tracy prevents him. Other unlikely heroes have also been led to the same place, and each contributes to averting the Apolcalypse.
For Aziraphale, there is one more step to be made to fully complete his Journey to Transformation. He still trusts God, despite everything he's experienced. When Crowley reaches out to his Angel, oh so gently and tenderly, at the bus stop, Aziraphale lights up, but isn't quite able to make that final commitment-- yet.
Lesley, the International Delivery Man, arrives. He takes away the symbols of the horsemen, as well as Aziraphale's sword. Remember, Aziraphale bravely raised that flaming sword against Satan himself. It's committing to Crowley that's the greater challenge. Lesley speaks lovingly of his wife. He leaves. As the bus approaches, Aziraphale thinks of love, and again ponders what Crowley first said:
"Angel, what if the Almighty planned it like this, all along? From the very Beginning?"
This is the final moment of Transformation for Aziraphale. Our Angel realizes that he can trust them both, God and Crowley. He doesn't have to choose. He doesn't have to surrender the core of who he is, an angel who loves and trusts both God and Crowley.
He commits, and accepts the Hero's Reward. He takes Crowley's hand. It's a Promise. It's a Vow. It's the Reward both of our Somewhat Heroes wanted most, the only thing that mattered to them, besides Azi's faith in God. Loving and being Loved by each other...
I would have loved to see a flashback scene of those quiet years in between. The years we as fans imagine and write and draw and share and reblog, the cocoa, the cuddles... Solidifying and building on the bond of six millenia, now fulfilled.
But I have no doubt what we were seeing in the beginning of Season 2. Stick around, if you'd like. This is only the start of more posts that might just convince you...
