Chapter 2 Theories!!!

Important parts are bolded bc I know this is long sorry. 

Cause of death: stabbed 37 times, poisoned, beaten, strangled, drowned, and shot. In that order. That’s 6 causes... And there are 6 characters (Butler, Chef, Detective, Colonel, Mayor, and you or possibly the woman who appears at the end.) Interesting. (this is all assuming he is really dead, which I’m not so sure about.)

The detective has an alibi for the body disappearing... It’s Jim and Jim. At the beginning of Chapter 2 the Detective tells us “Somebody, not me, must’ve moved it between the time I was the last person alone with the body in the room and then stepped out for a few minutes to take care of some personal business that you don’t need to know about.” That personal thing we don’t need to know about is what Jim and Jim’s second video shows us: he goes outside to kiss his partners’ pictures and cry. He really stepped outside and didn’t move the body. 

(It’s also interesting to note the fact that the Detective still doesn’t trust us completely. Not to mention that we learn this through a sudden glimpse into the Detective’s thoughts.)

***My Double Colonel Theory***: We first see the Colonel when he comes in to offer his assistance to hunt down Zombie!Mark. At the end of the interaction, he announces that he is going out on the grounds to look for the zombie. (This is before the Detective instructs Chef to keep everyone inside). The next time we see Colonel, he suddenly appears in Mark’s bedroom with no mention of how his search went. We follow him outside where he goes swimming and discusses his theories about the murder. He makes a point of saying “The people who work for him [Mark] might have reason to STAB him in the back.” Colonel was not there when the Detective told us how Mark died. Suspicious that he would refer to stabbing. But after that he runs off to the golf course to find his clubs. Nbd. We talk to the Mayor until we hear a commotion inside. The Colonel is somehow back inside the house with his gun raised at the Detective. He says, “I couldn’t go on the grounds now with that bloody Chef in my way!” But the problem is... He was just on the grounds. He literally JUST ran off onto the golf course, but now we find him in the middle of a tense argument (that seems to have started before we arrived). Although the characters are known to appear suddenly, there is NO WAY he would be able to make it back there before us and engage with the Detective to the point that guns were drawn. PLUS he claimed to be doing target practice inside. No mention of golf. I’m not saying there are two Colonels, but THERE ARE TWO COLONELS AND ONE OF THEM IS MARK. Throughout our walk outside with the Colonel, the Mayor keeps showing up and just missing him. Why do they make a point of the Mayor not getting to talk to that Colonel? Because they are old friends, and he would know that THAT WAS MARK.

(It is also interesting that Chef and Colonel knew each other beforehand, and the Chef claiming to have similar experience to the Colonel (Not to mention Colonel’s exclamation about the mansion being his house.)

Lasting questions: Why did he invite everyone there? What were they celebrating? Who would gain the most from his death? Who is the mysterious woman who entered at the end of the Chapter?  IS HE DEAD?

Just a quick reminder that Damien was the DA’s only friend at the party and they were really close. He was the only person who trusted and cared for the DA. This still messes me up every time I think about it. For the community to have a strong connection to a character then see it get turned into a monster.

There's another person called Colonel William Tecumshen Sherman, called "uncle Billy". A ship with his name visited Korea in 1866. He had a mentalbreak down and he thought about suicide.

The Cincinnati Commercial journal describe him as insane.

CANON ANSWERS ABOUT WKM (complete!)

I took notes watching the stream! Let me know if there's anything integral that I missed– and you can bet SERIOUS MONEY that I'll be piecing together more theories in the next few days!

CHAPTER ONE

CONFIRMED: WARFSTACHE PREQUEL.

"Bonjour" was an homage to ADWM.

Each character Mark plays has different quotes about "Life" (i.e. Life is for the living, life is ours to choose, life needs a bit of madness).

THE DRUNK SEQUENCE PREDICTS EVERYTHING!!

The Damien keg stand meant to signify that he'd be stuck in "the upside-down", and when he tried to wake us up, that told us he was the only one who really wanted to help us!

ASSHOLE MARK NEVER DRINKS.

The Mayor turning gray means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Mark tried to make it obvious we would die, yet we were all still surprised (lmao).

CONFIRMED: In Mark's own words, Damien is the only one with a "human" reaction to the death.

The Colonel was based on the hunter from Jumanji!

The Chef is scary, but inherently harmless.

Little Buddy's "kill" mode is insignificant to the story and WAS an homage to FNaF.

CONFIRMED: COLONEL, MARK, AND DAMIEN WERE FRIENDS SINCE CHILDHOOD BUT HAD A FALLING-OUT.

And the dick on the body tape was 100% Ethan's idea!! LMAO

CHAPTER TWO

CONFIRMED: The Colonel DOES "pop in and out of existence", but he is NOT the only one to do so– just the most obvious.

Mark tried to make it "painfully apparent" that the Colonel was the one who did it.

Detective and Asshole Mark were friends at the same time he, Damien, and Colonel were friends– but the two did NOT know the Detective.

The long winding hall sequence with Detective was intentional– so we could get oriented with the house…

… because the house "does not follow the laws of physics".

When following the Colonel out of the bedroom on the second floor, we warp with him to the first floor patio (with the pool).

The crib in the room was not a planned detail in the story.

CONFIRMED: The Colonel and Celine ran off together, and that's what made Asshole Mark hate him.

CONFIRMED: IN THE WHOLE STORY, THERE IS NO HOST INVOLVEMENT WHATSOEVER.

CONFIRMED: The Colonel and Asshole Mark grew up together in that house, which is why the Colonel knows it so well and refers to it as "his own". Mark even considered making those two characters be brothers!

CHAPTER THREE

"Hence the guns" is one of Mark's favorite scenes in the series.

The cane is a sign of Damien's high-class status as Mayor.

CONFIRMED: Celine and Asshole Mark were married.

Quote from Mark himself: "[Celine] wants what she wants, and she won't let anyone get in her way"

Another quote: "She also has a temper… like someone else we know"

Mark's original inclination was to make Damien and Celine be siblings, hence Celine's adamant refusal of Damien's help. (I caught onto this notion, but it didn't really resonate with anyone else I talked to about it.)

Mark said that Celine wanted to use the viewer in the ritual because she saw them as expendable, since she didn't know them personally.

There are no lightning strikes when George says "murder" because he hasn't been inside the house for many years.

CONFIRMED: The house is cursed. (Make of that what you will.)

CONFIRMED: In the final door shot of Celine, she is possessed– because she messed with power beyond her control, and Damien was in the room with her at the time.

CHAPTER FOUR

The Colonel looks out for Celine and Damien– but NOT Asshole Mark.

The odd glowy room-walking sequence was supposedly a small view into another world– "the upside-down", it was dubbed (but there's debate about whether that region specifically was "the upside-down")

There is debate as to whether this is how the Colonel "pops in and out of existence".

We don't see the Detective's investigation room until that chapter because the house hid it from us.

In that room, there are post-its reading "DON'T TRUST THE SEER" (which I caught, but it was a very minor thing I had to watch multiple times to see)

The Colonel owed Asshole Mark A LOT of money.

As we fall, William says, "It was an accident, I swear!"

The original idea for the final gun scene was that Damien would walk in and be the one the Colonel shot, NOT us.

CONFIRMED: Asshole Mark had killed himself many times before, but returned to his body from "the upside-down". That's why he was stabbed 37 times, poisoned, beaten, strangled, drowned, AND shot– none of those happened on the same day. Asshole Mark tried his hand at the dark arts to achieve this.

CONFIRMED: The black eyes we see when Asshole Mark's body speaks to us after we die is NOT his own spirit– it's the spirit of someone else trapped there.

CONFIRMED: Damien had every intention of helping us! He did! Mark confirmed it– he wasn't manipulating us at all, he just wanted the best for us!

CONFIRMED (!!!): William/the Colonel spent ten hours watching our body overnight and cradled Damien's cane the whole time. (THE FEELS ARE REAL, GUYS! THEY'RE CANON!!)

CONFIRMED: The reason Wilford Warfstache's suspenders are pink is because they used to be red, but they faded over many, many years.

Mark didn't realize how tragic the ending really was until he was editing it. In his own words, it's "terrifyingly sad".

And, finally, the one we've all been waiting for…

CONFIRMED: DAMIEN PUSHED US OUT OF THE BODY. But he wasn't manipulating us for that… he did it because he cared for us and didn't think we deserved the true hell of what resurrection really meant. He did it because he thought it was the right thing to do.

Why Markiplier would say dark and willford warfstache are dead.

Possibilitys below

(#6 is my personal favorite, the realization killed me)

Dark is making mark think like this- he's manipulated marks mind into believing warfstache and him are dead. Dark wants to escape with Warfstache, and before you ask why dark would give a flying fuck about him just take a moment and remember that dark is an amalgamation of Celine (his wife) and Damian (his best friend). So even if dark is the worst part of both of them, I'm sure he would still want to save William

All of the other egos took over- they combined forces and pushed dark and warfstache out of the way... Honestly though- this is probably the weakest of my theories, I mean- I can understand killing/overthrowing dark (he's the boss by the looks of what happened in Markiplier T.V), but it seems unlikely that they would do anything to warfstache. He was the one with the ideas in M.T.V sooo, why bump him off?

All of the other egos are hiding them. They (the egos) are protecting/hiding the 2 they believe could get them out. Even if at first It's hard to imagine the egos working that well together, all we have to do is remember MARKIPLIER T.V and how things were like in the conference room

They just up and left. Dark hates mark anyway and warfstache is unpredictable at best. would it be that far fetched to think mark is just assuming there dead.

Okay- take a step back and look at the big picture. Dark is just Damian and Celine mushed together, so what happens if they separate somehow? No more darkiplier. He would be "dead".

And Warfstache is just the Colonel gone mad...

If you bring back Celine and Damian, you suddenly have no reason to believe that Wilford Warfstache would stay Wilford Warfstache.

Their both dead.

Mark took over Youtube before Tumblr

*This is gonna be long*

If anyone ever checks his descriptions on videos he started on Doki Doki Literature Club before coming to tumblr, then also his new don't smile video. From the writing I believe its Dark in the first part because he references his love for Celine and how all of his other friends are departed, almost everyone disappears at the end of "Who Killed Markiplier?"

The 2nd part I believe is a confused Mark trying to understand if he's even himself or if Dark is in control and he just can't tell the difference anymore.

The 3rd part is Dark taking over completely again, easily because of how similiar Mark and Dark now are.

The 4th part is Dark (I'm guessing when the transition from Youtube to Tumblr occured) talking about how now he is in charge and has control like he wants but he doesn't see it as necessarily worth it because of the fact he's alone. Therefore coming to Tumblr and having all of us spread positivity and look just like him, the more the merrier so he's no longer alone.

The 5th part, he's SO HAPPY..., he's no longer alone and because he's happy everyone like him should be happy too, hahaha. "Old friends aghast" is the other egos now paying attention and realizing they may disappear if Dark gets his way. "All foes outclassed" is him saying that the other egos don't stand a chance because of all the people he now has with him. "It's all your fault" Dark is mad that Mark has been leaving the fans secret messages and says if the other egos disappears that its his fault. The differnet paragraphs are each about different people. I think "A mind you'll break, a soul you'll shake, a life you'll take, it's not your fault" is about Wilford Warfstache.

The 6th part, is the only one I don't understand. "Don't trust the seer, Abe didn't die" my thinking is it could be Warfstache telling us that Abe survived the gunshot, and he still believes that Abe is the cause of everyone's deaths and disappearances.

The 7th part, is Warfstache breaking through like he did on here "oopsie poopsie" that was a quote from the colonel, who is now known as the lovely man we all know as Wilford Warfstache. At first he was with Dark also wanting people to just smile because he figured if Dark AND himself are being declared dead, then they can work together but he now changed his mind. Don't smile. Don't act like Dark, he thought himself and Dark would be working together but if everyone looks like Dark then Wilford himself has no true power.

Ok, I'm done. It's just a theory but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know Mark canonically confirmed that Asshole Mark did those things to himself, but today I remembered something I've been wanting to do since I first heard that line.
