i cannot take the lucanis romance discourse anymore. this game was advertised as having the best romances in the entire franchise and then when the actual game dropped he is the one character with the least content in the entire game despite being a MAIN companion esp in relation to the other quests + his romance lock in scene is LITERALLY 45 seconds, it has barely any substance and it's pretty poorly written AND if during the first big choice in the game u get locked out of his romance (which. even tho it could be in character that is a BAD decision in a game series that prides itself again on its romances and is actually a sign of not good decision making taking into consideration the fact that he becomes a NOTHING character regardless of romance after saving minrathous) i think people are allowed to be a bit bitter and disappointed because THAT IS NEITHER NORMAL NOR A GOOD DECISION IN AN RPG THAT'S COMPANION DRIVEN.

So I finally got around reading Never and while I'm not very far into it, I already have some thoughts. So I'm going to share them here;

About Preface

The bit "In fact, I would say that the chances were stacked against it ever turning out like that" (him having his life the way it's currently), reminds me of this song:

I'm too lazy to go check if he has writing credits on this song (probably can be found on discogs), that aside I wonder if this song was personal to him? Like sure it's cheesy (so it could be just another love song) but I think it could very well be interpreted that the song is about his wife.

Introduction

Him telling how he managed to rip off the door of his dads' new van was somehow nice. I'd be shitting myself too in that situation too, but I always saw him as pretty timid and serious when he was young (perhaps even as someone who was forced to grow up?). So it was nice to hear that he still was just a dumbass kid once. Ofcourse in the 80s he had his light hearted moments where he was joking around and all that too but for me he seemed restricted, lacking confidence (that he would eventually gain as he got older).

Reading about his dad's violent tendencies is sad, I used to be resentful when people would say something along the lines "well you should be glad your parents never hit you" but reading this book, I actually felt bit glad I didn't have to go through that.

Got my Dirk shirt all remade now, over a decade later, lol. The first one (from either 2011 or 2012, I don't remember) was on a thrifted shirt (bad idea, because it was already thinning, and costs the same, and it's RARE to find plain white shirts in a thrift store, so you don't get to choose the size - I had to alter the old one). I also accidentally bought shimmer paint because I thought "Pearl" meant the paint was matte. (Pearls are matte, they're not shimmer glittery!!) And I only had one size of good quality paint brush to use.

Now, I have new materials (still the wrong paint, because the store only had the 3D/textured paint in orange, but I made it work), and more brush sizes I can use. I still traced the shape and placement from the old shirt, both to save time, and also because it's like, using something from the old one to make the new one, like handing down the torch, or whatever sentimental reason. (The old one was traced off my old laptop screen, I think.)

I already made a mistake when I tried scraping off a microscopic paint fleck off the sleeve and accidentally held the black brush in my other hand and painted all over the shoulder and it wouldn't wash out, but I've decided that, that will be a grease spot from patching up Squarewave, so if you see the splotch in my future cosplay, 'it was intentional.' \></

So yeah. Here's to many more years of Homestuck cosplay, lmao.

I just got the idea for mech pilot au MHA. I was watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and thought of it. Like, young hotheaded pilot bakugo who is skilled in taking down monsters but makes bad mistakes because of his fiery temper. Todoroki is a legacy type of pilot, his dad was one of the best before he retired to head the mech pilot program. Deku is another bright hopeful pilot who has been trained under All Might himself. Maybe readers a pilot who gets teamed up with one of them, idk. I just thought it would be a cool idea — 🚪 anon

But yes, I can totally see this, and it's almost leaning into kind of a... Pacific Rim moment, too. Are you imagining it in universe? Because part of me is just imagining the mech operations aspects, and the other part wants to go full in with angst LOOOL.

Like being assigned to live in the same dorm/apartment complex as the boys, being told you need to choose who you want to team up with. Bakugo being one of the strongest but also the most risky destructive, Deku still not fully in sync with AM's Eva, and Todoroki maybe not... agreeing with his father's leadership?

I'm not sure, but I'm just thinking about those first couple episodes when the awkwardness between Shinji and Misato is sort of palpable... you're supposed to live alongside all these random dudes? Cook with them? FIGHT with them???

And god forbid you start to actually... feel things for them and then one of them gets hurt or worse. Or Endeavor doesn't allow relationships outside of ... business. It would be painful!!!
