Okay so I have huuuge Fontaine brainrot as of recently and I *NEED* to get my thoughts out

‼️SPOILERS FOR 4.2 FONTAINE ARCHON QUEST STORYLINE‼️

Uhhhh so here's some speculations!! ...since I wanted to consume Fontaine content in my breaks between the Fontaine archon quest and therefore have spoiled myself some things </3

It's nothing but bits and pieces that start to form a more coherent picture in my head so I have to ramble about it.

Jumping right into it I think Neuvillette is gonna become the Hydro Archon or in one way or the other take back his power from Furina's gnosis. He confirmed in Act IV, if I remember correctly, that he is in fact the hydro dragon (shocker, no one suspected that at all) and told us a cool piece of lore, which is that the archon's power is based on a part of power taken from the seven Dragon Sovereigns that used to kinda idk rule over Teyvat, but were overthrown by the "Usurper" as Neuvillette describes.

And while scrolling YouTube for some MUSIC of all things they just had to recommend me uploads of the new 4.2 cutscenes </3 I read the titles faster than I could look at the thumbnail or even think about what the video is and so I've read things like "Furina's sacrifice" and "Furina gets her vision". So what I think is gonna happen, is that the seal Neuvillette placed on the sluice gate to the Primordial Sea is gonna weaken or be on the brink of breaking and he won't be able to hold it back with the amount of power he currently has. Furina is aware of that, or even might have been aware of that from the start, since she and Neuvillette have said that she has been doing a lot of research and treating the matter seriously. I think Furina has been rather self-conscious about being the archon, she might have even felt as though she wasn't good enough, compared to Neuvillette's skill and power. She hides behind a mask of confidence and bravado, constantly hyping herself up, even though she knows she doesn't even have a way to save her own people from the impending disaster hanging above their heads, or rather, raging beneath the waves.

So she will sacrifice her godhood by destroying the gnosis or giving it to either Arlecchino or Neuvillette to unleash its power and seal the Primordial Sea once and for all. Celestia will recognize her act of selfishness and her willingness to save her nation by bestowing upon her a Hydro vision. Neuvillette becomes the Hydro Archon, Furina will probably stay in a position of power as well. Maybe this will all happen in secret... And the people of Fontaine WON'T know that Furina's power has been transferred to Neuvillette... and both of them will continue to fulfill their roles as the "Hydro Archon" and Chief Justice respectively, with Furina putting up a big show, essentially about how great she is as an archon, even though she wouldn't be one anymore. That, or they go the boring route of Neuvillette gets the power, he seals the Primordial Sea and then is like "No Furina, you're a great archon and honestly I prefer my job as the Iudex I would probably suck as an archon. Here's your power back" and she continues being an archon yippee yada yada. But that wouldn't make sense with the whole vision thing..... I think I'm onto something....

Or I could just finish the quest instead of speculating like a madman idk

But where's the fun in that 😋

That's the state of things as of November 9th 2023, 20:14 I will maybe update when I finish cause right now I'm doing Neuvillette's story quest because it's locking me from continuing the archon quest 😭

i think we, as a website, have forgotten that you can ship multiple things. you can even ship DIFFERENT things! you can ship two characters and then ship those same two characters with DIFFERENT characters! it's fine! the canon doesn't matter if you're having fun! if you think there's a problem with that then idk what to tell you, maybe you should let some whimsy into your life or something. touch some grass. take a nice bubble bath. invest your hatred into something that deserves it, like taxes.

still i think the one of the more fun differences drawn between illario and lucanis that was lost would be illario's ability to endear himself to others but serious lack of empathy, vs. lucanis' (self perceived) inability to be charming but how much he cares. it's interesting that the game has gone with the "lucanis' ability vs illario's lack thereof" because i think illario being the dellamorte 'best in show dog' vs. lucanis' attack dog would have made me so unwell.

lucanis is... awkward. he's not unlikable, because he is usually very polite, but he doesn't speak much and only seems to care about the other dellamortes. he once sent viago de riva a knife with no note (who knows what he could have meant by this). he does what caterina asks of him, and by his own admission, cannot say no to her. he is a dramatic and prolific killer, and that makes how untouchable he is even worse.

and the crows like illario, sure, AND he's a good assassin! he's even a good crow! he's so good that he can make lucanis smile, and so he is the charming, sociable one. he's the one that stays in treviso and can be relied upon to care, illario's even the one people prefer over caterina and lucanis!

but illario is decoration. he's the prize poodle, and even if poodles were bred to be working dogs, nobody will ever pick him to protect the house over the german shepherd that regularly mauls intruders. anyways the analogy is getting away from me. the point i'm trying to make is that i want illario to have a different kind of jealousy/hatred that's not just over 'being bad at killing' but also an arrogant loathing for everyone around him that is getting harder to hide, because they've forgotten he can bite and is just itching to rip someone's jugular out. illario is very good at hiding his family resemblance to caterina, while lucanis suffers under his grandmother's, and his own, reputation.

Narinder: Someone reeks of death and not the dying kind whossit. The lamb: Narinder, about to break his self isolated streak, socially handicapped after millenia indoors: Fucks sake Technically they met here at a festival. (literally a fancy excuse for the gods to have fun and devotion to grow. Also another reason.) Narinder was about to make a break for it when the lamb with their weird vibes came in. Also, nope. I don't have a name for the lamb yet. Tempted to name the guy Lamb-o for shits and giggles.
