I decided to rewatch a random episode of WTNV for no particular reason (except me wanting fo watch WTNV and being caught up with the plot so I can't just go for the next episode) and ended up with episode 56 Homecoming and I have thoughts!
My major one is that the fact this episode states Cecil visits his mom during Homecoming while impliying Abby doesn't and for me this says some interesting things about them and the Palmers familial dinamics.
#wtnv#welcome to nightvale#wtnv ep 56#cecil palmer#abby palmer#i like to think that next homecoming Cecil either went see his mom by himself or brought Carlos#but either way Carlos was out of the desert and saw how the meeting was affecting Cecil and how his childhood stories were messed up#so Carlos talked Cecil into not going meet his mothet again#instead on homecomings Cecil visits Old Woman Josie#i also like to think Cecil did mention to Abby he was going to visit their mother the first time he did as an invitation#but without truly inviting her because the palmer sibblings have a complicated relationship#and Abby laughted before stopping and looking at him sad and going you're serius#she hugged him once and they never talked about it ever again#but he understood he shouldn't try to invite her and she understood she shouldn't try to convince him not to go#i do think Steve asked as well when Steve went to see his dad#and Abby just brushed it off without much details#because by Matryoska we can see Abby didn't tell a lot to Steve about her childhood#that and Steve has the inverse Cecil situation#the whole town loved kid Cecil except his mother who was the most important one anyway and so he grew up heavilly traumatized#while the whole town hated young Steve except his dad who was the one that really mattered and Steve still got trauma but less#Steve cannot truly understand parental abusive as he had a great dad and is a great dad and he admits it#because Steve is mature and the best#so he invited Abby to go with him and they could meet each other parents#and he realized that Abby was purposifully not going to the met her mother part but accepted it#and didn't force at all#because he is a good husband#sorry I'm a Steve Carlsberg fan#episode 56 is also the episode where earl segments started so get ready for a lot of coments on it#also this is Cecil's depression arc and it shows#abby is right you cut toxic relatives

mob boss billy falls for trust fund brat Steve
Iâm going combine this with an anon request I got thatâs similar.
anonymous asked:
Mafia Boss Billy fucking his worst rivals aka Mr Harringtons son, Steve, them both knowing who they are, but not giving a shit about it. Steve just really loves to get fucked by that thick cock of Billyâs and he doesnât care that his own father hates the guy đ
So thereâs some fucking, some general violence, bad things happen and are bad, murder boyfriend energy.
Read on ao3
Billy Hargrove was infamous around Chicago.
The Hargrove Family was well established, ran the fucking streets for decades the title of Boss being handed father to son.
Neil Hargrove had groomed his son from a young age, kept him in the room to observe as he spoke to his dogs. Explained the precise techniques he used for torture. The first time he made Bill kill a man, hold a gun to his head and pull the trigger, Billy was twelve.
Billy was Neilâs favorite attack dog.
He could just say his name and strike absolute fear in the hearts of anyone who heard it, anyone who was threatened with it.
Billy was known for having cold eyes, a heart of steel. Rumor is, he killed his own father to take over the company, had an expensive funeral for him.
He took over the large office, headed up the businesses they used as a front.
Pictures would surface of him in expensive clubs, doing lines of coke off strippers, letting twinks sit in his lap, suck him off while he lazily sipped expensive whiskey.
Steve Harrington was a brat.
The Harrington family ran Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and were building themselves in St. Louis.
They were the Hargrovesâ biggest rivals, had been encroaching on their stake in Chicago, had plans to take over as much of the midwest as possible.
Mr. Harrington had never been afraid to use his son as a bargaining chip.
Steve was pretty, but he was a simpering idiot according to his father. Only good to be thrown to the enemy, with a promise heâd do anything.
Heâd been fucked over plenty of desks, had been tied up in grand penthouses, choked on the cocks of the bosses his dad wanted ally-ships with. The Harrington Family owed the establishment of their branch in Cleveland to Steveâs asshole and his willingness to be choked.
When Steve first met Billy, they were unaware of the other.
Steve had been on a bender, blowing through his fatherâs money after the settlement of a partnership in Detroit. He was in Chicago, being watched by two of his fatherâs men, the two had been assigned to Steve when he was young, keeping a close watch on him.
Billy had watched the pretty boy stumble into the club, the lights dim, the music low, base-heavy.
Steve was out of his mind when he slammed into the broad chest, had gazed up into sharp blue eyes, tugged a blond curl that had escaped the bun at the crown of his head.
Billy took him home that night, had fucked the rich brat in his silk sheets, on his dresser, on his bearskin rug, over his desk, against the shower wall.
They exchanged phone numbers the next morning when Steve hunted down his clothes, called his car around.
They started meeting up every time Steve made his way to Chicago, happening more and more often as he started to want Billy more and more.
But after a few months, Steve noticed some mail, envelopes addressed to William Hargrove.
âYouâre, youâre a Hargrove.â
âYou know the name?â
âYou know the Harrington name?â
âCourse I do, those assholes keep creeping on my turf.â
âYeah well, Iâm one of them.â He held out his hand. âSteve Harrington. Nice to meet you.â Billy just laughed, pulling Steve into him by his outstretched hand.
âUnfortunately, I donât care. Wouldnât give up that tight little hole for nothing.â
They kept fucking, keeping it behind closed doors, in secret. Steve didnât want his father to know, thought heâd try to use him as leverage to get Chicago. Steve was happy, letting himself be in something close to a relationship for the first time in his entire life.
But then his father had a request, was ready to send him to Columbus to reason with a client.
He had opened his mouth, complained to Billy and the man he was supposed to meet with was found dead in Lake Erie two weeks later, the mangled body had to be identified by dental records.
Mr. Harrington is livid.
He knew Hargrove had something to do with this, thought maybe he had sabotaged the deal, not that he had killed to protect whatever was left of Steveâs honor.
Steve was in Chicago the next day, booked a flight the minute he heard the news of the body in the lake. Had shown up at Billyâs apartment in a long coat, nothing underneath. Billy slammed him against the closed door, kissed him fiercely while peeling the coat off him.
âCanât believe, canât believe you killed a man for me.â
âThat freak you out?â He lifted Steve up, his legs wrapping around Billyâs waist as Steve fumbled with the buttons on his shirt.
âNo. Itâs, God thatâs so hot, Bill.â
âHe begged for his life. I really took my time, made sure he knew he was gonna die just for thinkinâ about touchinâ you.â Billy set him on the leather couch, settled himself between Steveâs legs. âIâm the only one that gets to touch you. Gets to fuck you.â He ground his hips down, biting at Steveâs ear, growling in it. âYouâre mine, Princess.â Steve moaned as they moved together, their cocks sliding together, hard and hot.
âBill, want you to fuck me. Claim me.â Billy stood off the couch, forced Steve down onto the floor, face pressing into the soft rug, ass in the air, silver plug visible.
Billy pulled it out, loved watching the way Steve stretched around the thickness of it, the way his hole fluttered when it was gone, leaving him empty, wet with lube.
Billy spat on it.
âThis little hole is mine. Mine to open up, mine to fuck.â He pressed his cock in, sighing at the velvet heat around him. He went hard and fast, hands rough on Steveâs hips to keep him steady, slammed into this hard enough to bruise, the sound of their skin slapping together, Steveâs loud moans, his own grunts all he could hear. âWould kill for this hole, have killed for this hole. For, for you, Princess.â
Steve came on the rug below him, hand flying over his dick, crying out as he tightened around Billy, muscles going stiff before collapsing, breathing heavily into the rug. Billy never slowed his pace, kept slamming into Steve, chasing his orgasm.
âCome inside. Only, only person Iâve, ever let fill me up.â That threw Billy right over the edge. He shoved his way in a few more times, cumming deep in that fluttering little hole. He flopped next to Steve, chest heaving as Steve rolled on top of him.
His fingers drifted down, two pressing back into Steve, keeping him full.
âYou really never let anyone cum inside you?â
âNo. Didnât trust anyone enough not to use a condom. â
Billyâs mind short-circuited at the idea that Steve trusts him.
âJesus Christ.â Steve looked at him, his eyebrows furrowed.
âWhat, whatâs wrong?â
âI think I fucking, love you.â Steveâs face was blank.
âNo shit, Idiot. You tortured and killed a guy that was hypothetically going to fuck me.â
Billy laughed, Steve shifting around on top of him as his chest moved with it.
âGod, Stevie. I really went ham on the guy too. Like, really went to town.â
âAnd the whole time you were doing that, you didnât once think maybe this about more than fucking?â
âI really didnât.â He was giggling. âHow long did you know?â
âWhen I heard they pulled that body out of Lake Erie. Your family has no ties to the Camorra family. There was no reason for you to off him, except me.â
âWas it too big a gesture?â
âNah. Donât mind a little death. itâs all part of the gig.â He put his head back down. âFor the record, I love you too. In case you didnât already know.â Billy kissed the top of his head.
âI almost went after your father, too.â Steve was quiet for a moment. Billy was worried heâd gone too far, said too much.
âLet me know if you do. I wanna watch.â

Fantastic Four Vol 1 #239
Thur Dec 17 2020 [10:52 PM] Umbramatic: :O [10:52 PM] Wack'd: I'm gonna guess Batman. You'd never expect that
[10:53 PM] Umbramatic: its the spanish inquisition [10:54 PM] Wack'd: So this mystery guest is a woman with short black hair, having come to see the Four all the way from Arizona on a matter of life or death. She also mentions in thought balloons that
"It's been so long--so many years since we last saw each other. I wonder if he ever thinks of me--of us."
[10:55 PM] Bocaj: I don't think I know of anyone with black hair [10:55 PM] Wack'd: Lucky for her, especially given it's the dead of night, the Four's little corner of the Baxter now has a receptionist. Uh. Kinda.
[10:57 PM] Wack'd: Reed meanwhile has been up for three days straight trying to fix the current Ben related-fuckup. He blamed himself, of course. Sue tries to reassure him that Ben probably doesn't hold him accountable [10:58 PM] Wack'd: Huh!
[10:58 PM] Wack'd: You know what? Fair dues. I did not see this coming. [10:59 PM] maxwellelvis: Doctors Hate Her! [10:59 PM] Bocaj: I always thought of Aunt Petunia not appearing until later [10:59 PM] Bocaj: In my mind she was sort of a the ghost for a while in the sense of sir not appearing [10:59 PM] Wack'd: I mean hey, twenty years is a hell of a while. [10:59 PM] maxwellelvis: As an aside, from what I remember of Ben's wedding, it looks like Aunt Petunia started aging in real time as if the Four had gotten their powers NOW as in 1982 [11:00 PM] Wack'd: "Doctors Hate Her!" Funny you say that max because Ben describes Petunia as a "genuine country doctor." [11:00 PM] maxwellelvis: Ha! [11:01 PM] Wack'd: So Petunia meets the gang. Sue mentions she was expecting someone older, which Petunia takes in stride [11:02 PM] Wack'd: It turns out Petunia married into the family. She, uh. Well. [11:02 PM] Wack'd: Ben's Uncle Jake got into an auto accident, which killed his wife. Petunia, then a student nurse, became his medical student, and then his wife. [11:02 PM] Wack'd: That...sure is a course of events! [11:03 PM] Bocaj: đŹ [11:03 PM] Bocaj: That feels like it fits into a trend with Byrne [11:03 PM] Wack'd: Doesn't it just. (Though I will again point out he is not responsible for Sue having been creepily young when she and Reed hooked up. That's Lee.) [11:04 PM] maxwellelvis: I can see why Slott decided to retcon Aunt Petunia into the grandmotherly type for the wedding. [11:04 PM] Bocaj: Oh now I know where MCU Aunt May has absorbed life force from [11:04 PM] Wack'd: So the "life or death" matter involves her home out in Arizona with Jake. The whole town is in danger of being "frightened to death." [11:05 PM] maxwellelvis: So call Mystery Incoporated [11:05 PM] maxwellelvis: Oh wait, this is 1982, Mystery Inc.'s broken up. [11:06 PM] Wack'd: So. Uh. This is Uncle Jake.
[11:06 PM] Wack'd: And this is Aunt Petunia.
[11:07 PM] maxwellelvis: Yeah, she'd have to have a few more gray hairs than that if she's known Ben since he was a boy, I think. [11:07 PM] Wack'd: She does not seem to have. [11:08 PM] Wack'd: So the Four arrive in Benson, Arizona, and the narration informs us that Ben had been the only one who approved of Jake marrying Petunia, and. [11:09 PM] maxwellelvis: That's what all the instances of Ben invoking her name had led me to believe. [11:09 PM] Wack'd: Look I want to take for granted this is messed up and move on but the damn book seems dead set against me doing this. [11:10 PM] maxwellelvis: Well, anyways, I guess that means we've hit the OTHER side of John Byrne's run. [11:10 PM] maxwellelvis: Aspect, perhaps [11:10 PM] Wack'd: Sue mentions we don't know much about Ben's past. Ben says his mom and died died when he was a teen and Jake raised him. [11:10 PM] Wack'd: (We don't really know much of Reed's past at this point, though I am given to understand this will also change in the near future.) [11:11 PM] maxwellelvis: This part is just Byrne telling Steve Gerber he can fuck off. [11:11 PM] Wack'd: Gerber, I assume, would instruct Bryne to get in line. [11:12 PM] Wack'd: Racism? Anyone want some racism? Anyone think what this story could really use, right about now, is some racism?
[11:13 PM] Bocaj: Eesh [11:13 PM] maxwellelvis: (Gerber I think was one of the first writers to use the "Ben grew up on Yancy St." backstory) [11:14 PM] maxwellelvis: (Unless he didn't write that issue of Marvel Two-In-One, in which case it would probably be Roy Thomas that Byrne was dismissing here) [11:16 PM] maxwellelvis: (I would look this up, but I physically cannot get to my Essential 2-in-1 collection atm) [11:16 PM] Wack'd: So Ruth's child assistant(?) Wendy is upset that Ruth, rather than just appreciating the arrowhead, started a whole excavation. She has fond memories of this place because when her mom was sick they'd come to the site and collect rocks and whatnot. [11:16 PM] Wack'd: So that's not ominous.
[11:17 PM] Wack'd: We skip forward to that night, where two of Ruth's more non-child students are doing some late-night archeology. A mist comes at them and then BAM! Scared to death! [11:18 PM] Wack'd: MEANWHILE IN THE HIMALAYAS [11:19 PM] maxwellelvis: I was putting something in the oven, thinking "Oh man, it better not be the Miracle Man again" and then we cut to the Himalayas [11:19 PM] Wack'd: Quicksilver has been fighting some kind of war, apparently, while Crystal--suffering complications from a half-mutant half-Inhuman pregnancy--is being treated by whoever this guy is.
[11:20 PM] Wack'd: Pietro here is apparently the only guy in all of Attilan who's not come down with some sort of mysterious disease. [11:20 PM] maxwellelvis: He looks like the Leader, if the Leader was slowly turning into a raisin. [11:20 PM] Wack'd: And Attilan is being destroyed, leaving Pietro as their only hope. [11:21 PM] maxwellelvis: Oh yeah, he just looks like the PICTURE of health here, don't he [11:21 PM] Umbramatic: gfrtvtigyhhuihjio;opkp [11:21 PM] Bocaj: The funny thing is that mutant and inhuman genes apparently cancel out [11:22 PM] Bocaj: Or Crystal and Pietro won the silliest genetic lottery [11:22 PM] Wack'd: Back in Arizona, Reed is having no luck cracking the case, while Frankie and Wendy get some bonding time in
[11:23 PM] Wack'd: So, uh. Because this story just did not have enough going on, it turns out Wendy's dad is beating her. [11:23 PM] Umbramatic: oh [11:24 PM] Wack'd: Frankie tries to intervene but Wendy begs her to back off, so she figures there's nothing to be done and leaves. [11:24 PM] Bocaj: Comic are you sure you're up to this content [11:25 PM] Wack'd: I feel like Reed should be caught a bit more flatfooted by someone he looks up to intellectually telling him he can't fix things with guesswork.
[11:26 PM] Wack'd: Sue and Ben want to take action of some kind but Reed points out that, uh, they can't really punch their way out of this one. [11:27 PM] maxwellelvis: I'd make more scooby-doo jokes, but John Byrne deciding to put a Very Special Episode in here has kind of made that feel... not so fun anymore. [11:28 PM] Wack'd: That night, Wendy sneaks out of her house to go talk to the mists. Turns out thatâs who her wonderful friends are. [11:30 PM] Wack'd: I think she wants to beg them for mercy? The narration boxes get kinda cryptic. Anyway if that's what she's done, it reeeaaally doesn't work.
[11:30 PM] Wack'd: "What was that about not being able to fight our way out?" [11:32 PM] Bocaj: I think Slott revisited some of this [11:32 PM] Bocaj: I vaguely remember mists and gremlins when Franklin and Valeria were staying with aunt petunia post wedding [11:33 PM] Bocaj: But as it was the same story where Sue made Doom naked on a live broadcast the details escape me [11:33 PM] Wack'd: So on top of these weird things the entire town is now also set on fire and also in a giant windstorm. The Four put out the fires but the damage is done and most of the town decides to evacuate. [11:33 PM] Umbramatic: oh yes that one [11:35 PM] Wack'd: what the fuck what the fuck what the FUCK
[11:36 PM] maxwellelvis: Oh of COURSE Byrne has Reed sympathize with an abusive parent. [11:37 PM] Wack'd: Okay so for starters, because this is the thing I'm the least mad about, everything about this resolution is fucking nonsense. We know basically nothing about any of the other people who got "frightened to death" and so as the readers had no ability to draw upon our own knowledge of their morality or why they might not be able to handle seeing visions of their worst selves. [11:37 PM] Wack'd: From there we get to the fact that, for all the ways Ruth and Reed protested earlier, this is a massive pile of assumptions with absolutely no backing in fact or evidence. [11:37 PM] Umbramatic: geez [11:38 PM] Wack'd: Speaking of Ruth, she said that the arrowhead was crucial, and Ben speculated that may be the excavation released the spirits and they needed to be re-buried. They don't out right say it, but this may as well be a "ancient Indian burial ground" plot. [11:39 PM] Umbramatic: yeesh [11:39 PM] Wack'd: And from there we get, yes, Reed saying that their job is not to judge people, therefore they can't do anything about an abusive parent. Which is frankly just moral cowardice and also really gross. [11:40 PM] maxwellelvis: And also a grim portent of things to come in this era. [11:41 PM] Wack'd: And so the story ends, with. I think the implication is that Wendy asked her "friends" to take care of her dad for her? Which is okay, I guess, but doesn't really fix the way everybody else reacts to this.
[11:42 PM] Wack'd: The story is also just plain all over the place. There's absolutely no reason for the characters who get the Four involved in the plot to be Ben's Aunt Petunia--except-- [11:42 PM] Wack'd: Oh. The whole town got judged. [11:43 PM] Wack'd: Did John Bryne really just write a plot where a bunch of cosmic arbiters of justice basically give the okay to marrying your student [11:43 PM] maxwellelvis: RED FLAG [11:44 PM] Wack'd: This a lot, huh. [11:45 PM] Wack'd: Well, maybe whatever Inhumans nonsense is going on will help clear my head.

Prompt: Vampires
Steve stayed in Hawkins after he graduated high school. Most of the town thought it was because he didnât have amazing college prospects and had stayed to work for his dad. That wasnât entirely untrue, of course, but a select few knew that there was way more important work to be done.Â
There was an infestation in Hawkins. It was worse than cockroaches, worse than spiders, worse than skunks or raccoons, or just about anything Steve would have imagined. Somewhere in the woods, hidden where no one could find, was a vampire nest.Â
Normally, Steve would have thought that this would be on every headline of every newspaper heâd ever heard of. But apparently, the US government preferred to keep news of creepy crawlers and all things bumping in the night a secret.Â
In fact, Steve only found out in his junior year when a little girl escaped a lab and helped find a kid who had been kidnapped, ostensibly as food for the nest. Steve had been roped in peripherally thanks to Nancyâs involvement with Jonathan Byers. (And that was a whole different story.)Â
Chief Hopper gave Steve the most answers, and in the end, the most purpose in life. Because from what Hopper could tell, the soldiers at the lab hadnât been providing adequate protection from wayward vampires, or demogorgons as Nancyâs little brother insistently called them.Â
When Hopper heard about how Steve dealt with the vampire at the Byers house, he offered to teach Steve a little more about fighting, and when Steve was getting ready to graduate, recruited him to keeping an eye on the perimeter of the forest.Â
That was where they came from, and all Steve had to do on his nightly patrols was make sure none of them made it past him. Steve stayed in Hawkins because he was one of the only people who stood between the town and the infestation.Â
God, that sounded cool.Â
Steve grinned, even as he studiously scanned the edge of the forest as he drove down the country road. He was so accustomed to searching for monsters trying to slink out from the trees that he almost missed the very benign sight of a car pulled off to the side of the road.Â
The blue glinted from his headlights through the trees for several seconds before Steve thought to step on the brakes. He came to a halt before he passed the car and pulled over to the side of the road.Â
He left his headlights on, shining on the bumper of the car and lighting his path as he got out of the car.Â
âHello?â he called, gripping his bat.Â
There was a snap of branches and for a split second Steve froze, but then he spotted figure. A distinctly human figure.Â
âEvening,â said a young man as he stepped into view. He was tan with blue eyes and golden curls, and Steve was very relieved until he realized that the guy was eyeing his bat. âAre those nails.âÂ
âUh,â Steve cleared his throat and tried to angle the bat behind him as if the damage wasnât already done. âForce of habit, the woods and all⌠You new in town?âÂ
âI am. Didnât realize stopping for a smoke would get me a welcome party,â he took a drag from a half smoked cigarette. Â
âSorry about that. But you should be careful,â Steve looked past him into the shadows beyond his headlights. âThese woods get real dangerous at night.âÂ
"That a fact?"
âOther than me,â Steve tossed his bat back into his car. He smiled sheepishly, unsure if it was even visible. The guy didnât seem to mind, but the light was hitting his eyes so directly they were almost glowing. âI promise Iâm not a creep.âÂ
That got a promising laugh.Â
âItâs Harrington, right?âÂ
Steve blinked. âUh, howďźâ
âThere a lot of people in town who donât know who you are?âÂ
There were probably plenty, but Steve didnât encounter them often. Still, he paused with his hand on the door of his car. âI didnât realize weâd met.âÂ
There was a pout, before, âIâll choose not to be offended by that.âÂ
âOh shit, have we?âÂ
âWeâve been in the same place,â he dropped the cigarette and stomped it out. âDonât worry, Iâm just fucking with you.âÂ
Steve was starting to get whiplash. He smiled helplessly. âSo this is our official meeting, Mister?âÂ
âBilly Hargrove.âÂ
âSteve Harrington.âÂ
âMuch obliged. Weâll have to braid each otherâs hair next time.âÂ
Steve laughed for real at that one and his nodded jovially. âSure, come over any time.âÂ
There was a slight glint when Billy smiled back, but it was gone before Steve really noticed. âIâll clear out then, wouldnât want the spooky ghosts to get me.âÂ
âYou really donât. Have a good night.âÂ
Billy gave him a two fingered salute before sauntering around toward the front of his car. Steve figured he was safe enough, and backed up, waiting until Billy was in his car before driving off.Â
That was the end of that. Until the very next night when Steve was cooking dinner for himself at home. There was an itch in the back of his mind, something he couldnât quite put his finger on, something old and instinctive that was warning him there was a predator nearby.Â
But no matter how much he snuck around, looking outside for anyone or anything, he was alone.Â
That carried on for nearly a week before he finally told Hopper. He took it more seriously than Steve expected and told him not to patrol alone anymore. Considering that meant Steveâs options went to patrolling with Jonathan or staying home, he decided to stop going out.Â
He didnât hate Jonathan anymore, but that didnât mean they had anything in common besides Nancy. Hell, once they stopped dating, Steve realized he didnât have any shared interests with her either.Â
No bad blood or friendship there, just awkward history that made for long awkward silences.
Then he reached out to Mike, and by extension, all of Mikeâs friends. They piled into his house one day so Mike and Will could talk about possible precautions he could set up around his house, mostly using D&D terms; Dustin and Lucas mostly spent the visit talking about a new girl at school. Â
Steve did his best not to do anything stupid. After all, that was Hopperâs number one rule for joining the watch. But the habit of patrolling was too ingrained, and Steve felt frustrated just going home each night.Â
He wanted to be alert, especially considering he felt out of practice, so he was grabbing a coffee from a gas station when he heard a drawl from the aisle over.Â
âAm I dreaming or is that you, Harrington?âÂ
Steve turned, raising his eyebrows when he saw Billy Hargrove peering at him over a rack of candy. âHey.âÂ
âHey,â Billy tilted his head, and Steve realized somewhat belatedly that the glint from that night had been an earring. It really spoke to how much Steve had matured that he only slightly hated how incredibly handsome Billy was, even in the unflattering fluorescent lights. âBeen a while.âÂ
âI donât get out much these days,â Steve said with a self deprecating smile. Every now and then there was someone who expected him to suddenly return the old Steve. He wouldnât be surprised if Billy was a mainstay on the party scene.Â
âGuess not. Whereâre you going now?âÂ
âJust for a drive.âÂ
Billy kept looking at him, expectant almost, and Steve had a thought sneak in from somewhere that Billy expected to hang out. He didnât know why Billy would expect that, considering they had one exchange that made Steve look sort of like a serial killer.Â
But maybe that interested Billy. After all, he was standing there patiently while Steve sorted through his syrupy slow thoughts. He hadnât realized he was so tired. Maybe he shouldnât be patrolling alone.Â
âThat invitation still stand?â Billy asked.Â
âHuh?â Invitation. Hair braiding. Oh right. Billy could come over and keep Steve company while he tried to wake up a little more. âYeah. Yeah man, that would actually be nice if you have time.âÂ
Billy nodded. âIâll follow you back.âÂ
They make it to Steveâs and are talking. Steve feels weirdly tired but also buzzed, but heâs not falling asleep, and he feels interested while he and Billy talk. Billy notes the cross hanging in front of the backdoor and Steve is too zoned out to lie.Â
âVampires.âÂ
Billy chuckles, âwouldnât want the big bad vampires to get you.âÂ
For the first time, Steve takes exception to Billy. Thereâs something thatâs been on his mind for a while, after observing the vampires. With the exception of the big bad one, the one Eleven had to seal away with her powers, none of the vamps in the woods seemed âbadâ.Â
âBears arenât bad,â he says unthinkingly. Billy tilts his head so Steve continues. âThey just gotta eat. Itâs not bad. They just canât eat us.âÂ
Billy hums, looking out the backdoor, the light is catching his eyes again. He looks like a heartbreaker. Steve is glad he wasnât around in high school because he would have been dangerous. âTheyâre feral,â Billy says casually. âIf you could talk to them, would you?âÂ
Steve would like to talk to bears. âYeah.âÂ
âWith the right ground rules, it could be a good set up. Especially if I could help with your little problem.âÂ
âGround rules are good. Like, donât eat us. Or, weâll all agree on eating.âÂ
âWould you still want to get rid of the vampires if they didnât attack people at random?â Billy looked at Steve, his hair haloed but for some reason his eyes were still glowing. âThey have to eat, but they can agree not to kill. And they can help with the hive at the quarry.âÂ
The quarry? They were out at the quarry? How were they able to hide there? His mind was starting to work a little faster, the sweet haze that had been present since the gas station finally starting to bleed back.Â
âIf they,â Steve licked his lips. Why was his mouth so dry? âTheyâre not bad, if all they want is food and a place to live.âÂ
Something was strange. Steveâs mind was finally clear enough to realize that he brought a stranger back to his house. Billy was looking at him, his eyes were so incredibly blue and now that he was awake, Steve realized how hypnotizing theyâd been before.Â
âYou smell amazing,â Billy stated. His sharp teeth didnât catch the light, like Steve was sure they had before, but they were fully visible.Â
âNo biting,â Steve said.Â
âI wonât,â Billy grinned, leaning in. âBut you can feel free.âÂ
âAre you going to kill me?â Steve asked as Billy nuzzled along his hairline.Â
âNope, just came for a chat.â Billyâs eyes were glowing again when he looked Steve in the eye. âYouâre open to that, arenât you amigo?âÂ
âTotally,â Steve gulped. âI like a friendly chat as much as the next guy.âÂ
âGood. Because I think you and I can help each other,â Billy tucked some of Steveâs hair back. Steve noticed the claws that moved gently against his scalp. âBut for now, you gotta keep this just between us. Deal?âÂ
Steve didnât stop to think about it, worried that if he gave it too much thought heâd realize what a terrible idea it was to answer: âdeal.âÂ
When looking back on that moment, Steve could have sworn that the whole room had been spinning. And then he suddenly woke up, as if heâd been dreaming the whole time, and Billy was gone.Â
Steve later learned what Billy meant by âhelping each otherâ when he found several dead feral vampires in a pile in his backyard. The sticky note on the top one read:Â
Burn before they start to stink. - Billy
#HarringroveHalloween#Harringrove#vampire!Billy Hargrove#hunter!Steve Harrington#I have this idea in my head that Hopper begrudgingly started a hunter clan without realizing#and of course without having nearly enough information#since all they know about are the feral vamps#not that REALLY dangerous ones like Billy#mywriting

Houseguest: Chapter Six
FFN II AO3
Summary:Â Early morning meetings and broken bones don't mix well.
Chapter Six: Painkillers and Espresso
The sound of loud clanking and an even louder curse drew Steve to the kitchen the next morning rather than heading into the gym like he'd planned on doing. He found Tony Stark, half dressed in what looked like would eventually be a three piece suit, the missing cuff links leaving the sleeves hanging open around his wrists, and hopping awkwardly on his uninjured foot. He swiped for a pill bottle on the counter and dry swallowed one before looking over towards Steve. "Yeah, laugh it up. I know I look funny."
"You should probably see a doctor about your foot if it's hurting that bad this morning."
"He'll just tell me to stay off of it, and I don't have time. It's fine. Not even swollen, just sore." Toast popped up from the toaster and Tony grabbed the slice, taking a bite out of it plain. "You still planning on sticking around?"
Tony changed subjects about as fast as he talked, and sometimes it took Steve just a beat longer to keep up, all the while trying to make sure he hadn't missed something. "As long as you're not kicking me out."
"I thought we covered that last nightâŚ. Anyway, I'm heading into the office this morning. If you're game for tagging along I thought we could drop by the site after I'm done."
"You're going in to work?" Steve asked, and he was relatively certain his expression matched his tone.
"Yeah."
"You know you look like you lost a round in a side alley, right?"
Tony reached up, fingers brushing lightly against the visible cuts and bruises on his face. "They know who I am. It's fine. I have an R&D meeting."
Steve opened his mouth to argue, but shut it again. Trying to convince him was pointless and had proven to do more harm than good. He sighed. "You're not going to listen to me if I tell you you'll regret pushing yourself, are you?"
Tony hobbled his way over to the coffee pot that had signaled it was done and poured himself a mug of it to take on the go. "Look at that. You can teach an old man."
"Funny."
"Yep. How quick can you be ready?"
"Give me ten minutes?" He received a wave in response as Tony turned his attention to limping around the kitchen and getting ready. Steve hesitated only half a moment until he was sure the other man wasn't going to land in a heap on the floor before starting back to his room to get ready.
                        _____________________
For all the strain that his body must have been under, Tony hid it exceptionally well. Steve wasn't sure if he should be impressed or concerned, but whichever it was it didn't change that he looked much sturdier on his feet by the time they were walking into the monstrosity of an office building that was, apparently, Stark Industries' Los Angeles headquarters. The plan was simple: the meeting shouldn't take more than a couple of hours and Steve would use that time to access the footage that could be salvaged from the newly destroyed Stark facility's security cameras as well as the video that Tony's Iron Man suit had recorded during the battle. All of that would be made available on Tony's secure systems in his office that he still kept, even if rarely used.
They met a man that Tony introduced as Happy Hogan at the door who gave Tony a once over before looking like he knew fussing over him would a losing battle. Instead Hogan - Tony and Pepper's personal security, he explained, and yes, he knew how useless it was to be Tony's security these days - led Steve through the lobby, past a giant portrait of a much older Howard Stark than Steve had ever gotten to know, and up the stairs.
The office was bare, a few boxes in the corner and a desk against a wall. There was nothing about the room that indicated that it was ever used at all, except for a computer on the desk that Hogan had to access for him. "Jarvis is linked up, so he should be able to find anything for you that you need."
"Thanks."
Hogan turned to leave, pausing just a few steps away before turning. "You know, when Pepper told me that Tony had a buddy come into town, didn't even cross my mind it could be you. I mean, he hated⌠uhâŚ"
"Hated me," Steve prompted, not really wanting the confirmation, but the level of awkward radiating from Hogan after sticking his foot in his mouth was painful.
"Not you, necessarily." He glanced towards the door as if making sure Tony hadn't popped up without warning. "His old man used to talk about you all the time, from what he said. Drove him nuts. I guess I just wouldn't have thought you two would click with all of that."
"Well, clicking may be a little overstated, but I, uh⌠I don't know. He's certainly proved to be more than he looks like at first glance."
"It takes a while to get to know Tony. I've worked for him for over fifteen years. He's a good man."
"I'm starting to see that," Steve acknowledged softly. "He reminds me of his dad."
"I wouldn't tell him that."
Steve barked a laugh, shaking his head. "Yeah, I caught onto that. I feel like we both knew two different Howards. If I hadn't seen the name on the plaque I never would have recognized the portrait of Howard down there. The man I knew was -"
"Younger?"
"Full of life. A little wild. A lot wild," he corrected with another laugh. "And obnoxious. He always knew he was the smartest man in the room and wanted to make sure everybody else knew too." A fond smile tugged at his lips with the memories. "But his heart was in the right place."
"Sounds a lot like Tony," Hogan said, and Steve couldn't help but feel like he'd passed a test of some kind. "Have Jarvis buzz me if you need anything. Well, anything not techy. I'm not great with that."
"You and me both," Steve muttered, half to himself as the other man left him alone. "Okay, Jarvis, let's get started."
                       _____________________
He didn't typically choose to take pain medication. There wasn't much he could do if he was unconscious when a doctor decided to dose him, but if it was his call, he tended to avoid the fog that the meds soaked his brain in. With the way he'd been limping around that morning, though, he knew he couldn't avoid taking something. If he tried to hop around to avoid putting pressure on his injured foot he felt it through every cracked rib and in his injured wrist when he reached out to catch himself each time that he inevitably lost balance and went tumbling to the side. That was no way to conduct an R&D meeting, so he'd dug through his medicine cabinet until he found a pill bottle that wasn't years out of date and had swallowed a half dose to take the edge off and get him through the day. It worked, and might have even worked as intended if he'd had more than half a piece of toast and a thermos of coffee for breakfast that morning.
Tony felt his head start to swim during the first presentation. Several of his lead engineers were pitching their project ideas to him so he could decide which ones he wanted to sign off on and which ones were dead before they left the gate. He sent an intern for a cup of black coffee by the second, thought he caught most of the third, but it was the fourth that he really started to fade on.
"Mr Stark?"
He blinked hard. Had his eyes been closed? Shit. They had, and they weren't focusing very well now. He blinked rapidly to clear them and the young engineer that was giving his presentation looked part nervous and part irritated. Tony wasn't quite sure which one was going to win out as he straightened in his chair and cleared his throat. "Huh? RightâŚ. Sorry." He'd heard something. He knew he had. Something about a hologram, connecting to the brainâŚ. No. Yes. The hippocampus. Memories. He leaned forward and massaged the bridge of his nose. "So you're wanting to tap into memoriesâŚ"
"And project them, yes. The applications are limitless. With just the right touch, you could create an entire visible world just from someone's memories, project it, and -"
"Interesting. What was your name again?"
The man - likely the head of his team - looked like Tony had taken a physical swing at him for half a second before regaining his composure. "Beck. Quinton Beck."
"I like it, Beck. Put together your cost projections and -"
"I've got those," Beck cut him off.
"Fantastic. Get them to my secretary and we'll get started." He checked his watch. "Great session, guys. I have another meeting to get to. Anything we didn't cover just⌠I don't know, leave it on my desk or something." He needed more coffee. Maybe a few shots of espresso. In an energy drink. That sounded like a plan.
Thankfully no one fought him too hard on slipping out early. Tony made a beeline for the coffee cart that he'd had opened in the cafeteria years before, feeling every step from his battered foot up through his still-throbbing head. He ordered a large of the most caffeinated drink that they could make before slowly limping his way up to his office.
He found Steve Rogers with his gaze fixed on the computer screen. The blond looked up as he shuffled across the room, looking him up and down. "You okay?"
"I'll live," Tony answered. "Whatcha got?"
"JARVIS is running a few searches for me, but uh⌠I'm curious. What's this?"
He turned the screen around and Tony saw something that had absolutely nothing to do with the case they were working on. "Those are the plans for the rebuild of Stark Tower," he said slowly, uncertain how Steve had even managed to stumble into those plans. The man was far from tech savvy, which meant JARVIS had likely steered him in that direction while he waited on something else. He really needed to have a candid talk with his AI system about boundaries.
"These rooms have our names on them," Rogers prompted and Tony delayed the expected response by taking a long drink from his coffee cup. It wasn't like he could drain the whole thing, though. Eventually Cap would expect an answer.
Tony cleared his throat. "That's, uh⌠What I talked to you guys about. The remodel crew needed an answer so I told them just to go with it. I thought someone would, you know, say something about it. Guess they'll just be neat rooms now. It's fine. No harm."
Blond brows drew together. "What do you mean talked to us about?"
"At lunch after the whole⌠space invasion⌠thing. Or dinner. Whatever. Shawarma."
Cap stared at him for a long moment, his gaze becoming more and more confused. "TonyâŚ. I have zero memory of you talking about, well, anything while we were eating."
"I went on for like, ten or fifteen minutes about it!"
"Nothing. Sorry."
"Seriously?"
"We were all exhausted, Tony. A few of us concussed."
"I guess that's fairâŚ" He ran his hand through his dark hair, thinking back on the day. Yeah. He had a few gaping holes in his memory too. If anyone else had said anything while they were eating, he had no idea.
"So you designed⌠whole living spaces for us in the tower without even knowing if anybody would take you up on it?"
Tony ducked his head. "Yeah, it was stupid. The contractors needed an answerâŚ."
"That's amazing, Tony."
"Huh?"
"You redesigned the entire tower for⌠us. Even if there isn't an us right now."
"Thought there might be again. Someday. I don't know, it was a dumb idea."
Cap snorted and Tony was having to fight the urge to find any excuse to run out the door. "It's a compliment. I don't know anybody else that would do that."
"We made a good team."
"We did." He could feel Cap's gaze on him and he finally met it. "We still do. It's a good idea."
Tony cleared his throat hard. "What'd you find about my thieves? Anything?"
"Not a lot that it looked like you didn't already have, according to JARVIS." Tony tilted his head in question. "Just some information about our Ms Mira. Should we forward that over to the police -?"
"Nah. They've likely got it all by now. JARVIS didn't find anything in any databases that they couldn't get their hands on."
"Exactly what kind of databases does JARVIS search?" Steve asked, his tone not quite accusatory, but Tony flashed him a charming grin nonetheless, turning for the door.
"All the useful ones. C'mon. I need another espresso and then we can head out. Apparently painkillers make you sleepy. Who knew?"
He paused when he didn't hear Cap follow immediately and found the blond man still seated as his desk, that icy blue gaze fixed on him. "We should at least touch base with the police. Aren't you already stepping on their toes? Captain Ito-"
Tony squared his shoulders a little, doing his best to suppress the grimace that threatened at the movement. "I gave Captain Ito his arrest that he wanted. The rest of it - the weapons that might come out of it - that's my business."
"Tony..."
"Not everything's an alien-invasion level threat, Cap, but if people could get hurt because of a breach in the company's⌠in my security set up, that's where Iron Man steps in. That's why I built the suit. If you're not comfortable with that, fine. It's my fight. I can get you a ride back to the house."
There was a long moment of silence and just as Tony was ready to call Happy to have him take Steve back to Malibu, the other man heaved a sigh and stood. "I'm not going to leave you without backup."
"I do just fine on my own every other day, Cap."
"But you don't have to. Not today. I told you I'd help and I will."
It wasn't exactly a glowing endorsement of his methods, but there was something to be said about Steve having his back anyway. If Tony wasn't careful, it was something that he could get used to.
"Okay," he murmured softly, pushing hard at the thoughts before they threatened to spill over into visible emotion, and he turned back to the door. "Waiting on you now, Stars and Stripes."

Notes: Funny story, about the time I was trying to figure out what kind of injuries I could give Tony without incapacitating him I dropped something on my foot and broke some of the tiny bones there. Apparently I just needed to vent some of my pain out through Tony :P
Also, anyone notice the up-and-coming (though very prissy) engineer on Tony's team?
Next Time: Tony pushes Captain Ito too far and Ito pushes back.

So while everyoneâs in a Stranger Things mood, I thought Iâd share my personal headcanons of where the kids are going to end up in life (several of which have been made non-canon this season, but oh well). I was trying to work them into The Joyce Byers Home for Wayward Teenagers but they never quite fitted in.
Will doesnât go to college, even though Joyce keeps saying they can afford it. (They canât). He practices like crazy, and Jonathan puts him in contact with the art department at his college, and he puts together enough of a portfolio to start getting hired professionally, doing fantasy art for stuff like RPG rulebooks. Heâs one of the first artists working on magic the gathering for Wizards of the Coast, although heâs most proud of his contributions to the 6thE D&D rules. I think heâs going to be one of those people who gets really set into a routine the minute he gets a place of his own, and never ends up co-habiting with anyone. He probably does annual Desert Bus for Hope guest appearances.
Mike takes El ending their relationship hard. Of all of them, heâs been the closest to the upsidedown except for Will and El, and he has the least support network, since he wouldnât know where to begin talking to his parents about any of this, and he hasnât exactly been raised to be emotionally mature. He goes pretty far off the rails in college, drink, and then drugs that start out casual and get far too serious. Fortunately Nancy has had some therapy and decided that sheâs going to step up where their parents have failed. She gets him cleaned up, gets him a job working with their dad in Hawkins where El and Dustin can keep an eye on him, and he finds that once heâs not so worried about being left behind all the time, he actually quite likes having a normal life. Heâs godfather to two of Dustinâs kids, and while he resists dating for a long time, worried about how heâll react, he does find someone in the end, and heâs exactly as sickening the second time around as he was the first, and his friends and family are all thrilled for him.
They all think everything the government did to do with the Gate was bullshit, but Lucas is the one of them who decides to do something about it. He gets a job at Town Hall, then an internship at the state senate. He falls in love with a brilliant driven woman. Heâd never be able to pick one of the guys to be his best man, but thatâs okay because heâd have picked Max anyway. He makes it to the House of Representatives by the time heâs 35, and he never gets asked at any point in his political career to okay any covert science operations, but thereâs plenty of other things that need fixing. Erica and Dustin both have strong opinions on the state of education, especially in STEM, Jonathan Steve and Nancy have a whole lot to say about queer rights, and racism is everywhere, and sexism, and he canât fix everything but by god is he going to try.
Dustin was totally going to be a science teacher, but then Steve beats him to it and he doesnât want to seem like heâs copying. He gets a job at radioshack, which heâs sure is going to be a temporary position while he looks for the next big thing. 10 years later heâs now the manager of the exact same radioshack and none of his big things have gone anywhere, so he says fuck it and starts a computer repair business. Steve gets him to start a club for local kids, teaching them about radios and computers. Thatâs where he meets a single mom of three, and they hit it off right away. He takes to being a step-dad like a duck to water, and then he has a couple more of his own, and everyone gets used to seeing him with a toddler or two in tow at all times.
Max teaches herself to code, mostly because people keep telling her she canât. She doesnât go for a career - sheâs happy to work a job that pays the bills with enough leftover for her hobbies. The game she makes in her spare time never hits minecraft popularity, but Willâs artwork helps plus the single coder passion project angle plays well enough to make it a bit of an indie darling, moreso when it gets out that she was the who made the âplayable peachâ and âplayable zeldaâ mods that got super popular in the early days of homebrew console modding. She has a few boyfriends but they never really last, and sheâs in her 40s when she meets the woman she eventually marries on a panel on woman in gaming.
El writes her autobiography, mostly just because it makes her feel better to have it all there in black and white, like a story. Like something that canât hurt her. Itâs Dustin who convinces her to try selling it. He and Mike help her edit out the incriminating bits, and it gets picked up pretty quickly. Itâs never a huge hit, no movie or TV deals, and it doesnât pay the bills, but she gets letters from little girls telling her how her story inspired them, and helped her be brave, and thatâs worth far more than money.
Nancy spends a few years drifting, not really sure what she wants to do, before she finally admits that maybe she needs some therapy, and then she trains as a psychologist, specialising in young offenders because god knows where should would have ended up if sheâd ever tried to tell anyone what happened to her. After her parents find out about Jonathan and Steve, she wants to get as far away from them as possible, and the boys are happy to follow her to New York. They get a crappy apartment with crappy neighbours and love really doesnât make up for lack of sleep but theyâre happy anyway.
Jonathan starts out doing newspaper photography, but after he gets to know some police officers through work he ends up training as a forensic photographer. He gets a reputation for being completely bullet-proof even by the standards of the NYPD. He does a couple of art exhibitions later in life and Steve and Nancy are super proud of him, but it never really goes anywhere, and he doesnât mind.
Steve resists right up until the very last year of his degree, and then admits defeat and accepts that he was destined to be a teacher, probably middle school. He absolutely hates all the rules against being openly queer around kids, and threatens constantly to quit, but in the end he loves the kids way too much to ever do it.
#stranger things#stoncy#meta#headcanons#the kids are cute and all but relationships begun when you're 12 don't last for life

115 - Council Member Flynn, Part 2
Paint a picture. Itâll last longer. Welcome to Night Vale.
Councilwoman Tamika Flynn announced this week that she got a new dog. Itâs her 17th birthday in just ac ouple of weeks, so her Dad DeAngelo Flynn said she could adopt a puppy. They went to the Night Vale Animal Shelter and Discount Tire Shop. Tamika thought about this sweetheart pitbull named Rosie, but worried about the need to walk and exercise such an active dog regularly. Same with the Blue Heeler mix named Hydrant. The shelter manager suggested a German Shepard named Vincent, but DeAngelo said no daughter of his would have a German Shepherd. He added that even the German Shepherds with all of their hateful teeth and ignorant rage could not save us from the robot uprising. Tamika said she wanted a smaller dog anyway, and she settled on a Pomeranian, whom she has named Lucky. She brought Lucky to City Hall. Standing atop the front steps of the building Tamika, wearing a long black coat adorned with chevrons, a Sheriffâs badge, infantry cords and little flanks of uncooked beef, held Lucky proudly above her head, the way a person who just got a new car might hold it above their head.
Lucky is a light brown dust bunny with hollow yellow eyes and a shrieking little laugh of a bark. Ah, a real cutie! Happy early birthday, Councilwoman Flynn!
An update on the recent spate of robberies and the related deaths of Tristan and Camilla Cortez. The Secret Police have no new leeds toward suspects, but since the 8 PM curfew has gone into effect, there have been no robberies or major crimes of any kind. They have arrested six people in the last two days for being out after 8 PM. But those people were all angels, who were unaware of the curfew and were just walking around trying to ask people for ten bucks. Now that acknowledging of angels is legal in Night Vale, the angels have been making a fortune, by just asking people for cash they donât actually need, because theyâre billionaires. But people are so happy to be able to acknowledge them that itâs worth the few bucks the angels are asking for.
And now sports. The Night Vale Scorpions wheelchair basketball team lost the state pre-season tournament last weekend 81-72 to the Pine Cliff Lizard Monitors. Pine Cliff forward Helen King led all scores with 30, and Night Vale point guard Janice Palmer set a state record in assists, with 22. 22 assists in a game, thatâs empirically the most helpful game a Night Vale player has ever had. Yâall, Janice is my niece.
Itâs a shame to lose, but it is only the pre-season. There is still a chance to win the division. Unfortunately, I heard from Janiceâs dad Steve that Janice is not handling the loss very well. Steve said Janice works really hard to get assists, because she wants to be a leader to help other people score the points, and even though she set a state record in assists, they still lost. Steve said Janice is working even harder on her passing skills and on running the high pick and roll, which is a basketball term that Steve explained to me, and I knew I wouldnât understand it, so I wrote down what Steve said verbatim. Letâs see. Hereâs what he said a âhigh pick and rollâ was. Quote: âSo the defenderâs guarding, right? Like this! And then an offensive player comes over here like whoosh! And then the ball handler goes like zam! And then they go all and then, whoom!â Well. Best of luck in the regular season, Janice.
Michelle Nguyen, owner of Dark Owl Records, said that her store was robbed several weeks ago, during the height of the robbery spree. She remembers a person coming in wearing a mask, holding a gun, and smelling like fertilizer. They asked for gas, and Michelle gave the thief a velvet sack full of Item nr 4 bank-run gravel, which is her preferred currency these days. The robber then grabbed a stack of LPâs from the new release section and left. Michelle said she didnât report the robbery because she didnât really feel like it was a robbery. âItâs not like anyone listens to music anymore,â she said. âMusic is dead! If they had stolen the sound of traffic and sirens and low-flying aircraft, I would have felt truly violated. But whoâs gonna miss Keith Urban on vinyl?â Michelle added that everything is music and music is nothing. And then she closed the store for the day to go shout poems at passing trains with her friend Maureen.
Tamika Flynn and her new dog, Lucky, have been making appearances across town at local businesses assuring the owners that the town is safe. In addition to her dark coat with its many pins and stripes and medals and cow flesh, Tamika has begun wearing leather riding boots, a tricorn and spike studded knuckle rings. Sheâs really taken to the politics of her job, bringing along a camera crew to record these positive interactions with her constituents. It should be noted that there have never been elections for City Council in our townâs history. Even Tamika joined the Council through coercion, not campaigning. Perhaps this isnât just a photo op, perhaps she really does care about the wellbeing of each of her citizens. She might be my new favorite Council member.
Frances Donaldson, owner of the Antiques Mall, said she was so happy to see Councilwoman Flynn in her store. Tamika shook her hand and told her everything would be OK, that she would not let anyone rob Frances of her antiques. âI mean these antiques are cursed as all getout. Anyone tries to touch one of these things, theyâll be living in a psychological terror-scape,â Donaldson said, âbut it was nice of the young lady to say so.â Frances then sat by the window and thoughtfully watched the distant plane plass against the sky.
Liesel Schmidt, who owns the auto-body shop near Summerset and Gray, said Tamika stopped by her shop and told her all about how Tamikaâs father worked at an automobile factory for decades, until he was laid off five years ago. Heâs since run his own dent repair service. Liesel said Tamika really wanted to impress on her the importance of independently run businesses. âI like Tamika,â Schmidt said, âand her little dog too! He ate some of my socket wrench heads, which made him walk slow â ah, that made me laugh. Heâs a good dog!â
Well, Iâm certainly happy to see Tamika winning over the people of Night Vale. Sheâs done a lot for this town. But I know the curfew and travel stoppage has been a real strain. Itâs good to see her out there, keeping our spirits up.
Itâs time once again for Citizen Spotlight. Todayâs Citizen Spotlight is on Megan Wallaby. Despite only being born four years ago, Megan just celebrated her 17th birthday this past spring, and will graduate Night Vale High School with honors next May. Megan enjoys athletics and biology classes, and hopes some day to run her own clinic. She wants to go to a university and major in physical therapy next fall, but sheâs not sure where that will be just yet. Megan was also on my niece Janiceâs basketball team and was the teamâs leading scorer. But after the preseason tournament, she has decided to quit basketball to join Tamika Flynnâs Secret Citizensâ Secret Crime Patrol force. Megan never had an inclination toward law enforcement, but sheâs not she can afford college. Even if she gets a scholarship, she says there are still books, dorms, food, beer, pet tarantulas, and clothes to buy. Her parents Tuck and Hershel canât pay for any of that, so she is taking on part time work patrolling the streets after curfew. The team will miss you, Megan, but our streets are safer with you out there. This has been Citizen Spotlight.
A new report from the Mayorâs office shows a significant drop in crime the past two weeks, since Tamika Flynn took over the Secret Police. Councilwoman gave credit to Deputy Sheriff Sam, the entire police force including the Secret Police, Double Secret Police, Obvious Police and Dog Police, and even the Citizen Patrol Force for their extra efforts. Also Tamika said the bloodred buildings everyone helped paint look gorgeous and intimidating.
But itâs not all good news. The Mayorâs report shows a significant increase in traffic accidents, as the police are stretched so thin. Also, since most of the cityâs resources are focused on stopping armed robberies of businesses, there have been unrepaired water main breakages, damaged street signs, and understaffed municipal offices. With few available funds and zero economic activity after 8 PM, city-run departments like the Hall of Public Records, the Public Library, and the abandoned mine shaft outside of town, sit empty most days.Â
The Mayorâs office expressed concern in the deterioration of these buildings for lack of huge, not to mention the inconvenience their closures pose. âCouncilwoman Flynn is a tough and decided leader, but how far must we push ourselves away from comfort in order to preserve safety?â Mayor Cardinal said. âOur infrastructure is at risk of erosion if we continue to ignore everything, except law and order. Our emotional health is at risk if we close ourselves off.â
And here the Mayor paused to take a bite of a whole fresh butternut squash. Or, as the Europeans call it, a âyam balloonâ. She continued with her mouth full: âI ask Councilwoman Flynn to call back the rest of the City Council from wherever they are so we can hold an emergency meeting to explore better solutions toward reducing crime.â
Listeners, I agree with the Mayor. While I love that there have been no robberies or deaths or arsons in the past several weeks, I would also like to point out that a culprit has yet to surface. The police, under the control of Tamika Flynn, do not even have a suspect. Whoever has done this has certainly been stifled by the strict city ordinances, but how long must we continue hiding in our homes every evening? If the person who has committed these crimes is still in this city, they will certainly start robbing, and maybe even killing once again. Tamika refused the Mayorâs request, saying that the other City Council members do not do well under stress, and that theyâve never been of any help in situations like this. Tamika continued.. Oh! Oh, listeners, I â Iâm sorry to break into my own story but I am getting reports that Deputy Sheriff Sam and their Secret Police are in a standoff in the Tepid Sands housing development at the intersection of Skillman Boulevard and Dubois Avenue. Shots have been fired, uh Iâm going to find out and report further what is happening. But first, let me take you to the weather.
["TMI" by Josey joseyofficial.com]
The good news is that all of the police officers in this afternoonâs fracas are uninjured. The bad news is that two young women were severely wounded by a librarian. A librarian, in their own home! The girls, Lisa Robertson, 18, and her younger sister Marcia, 15, were at home quietly reading their new copies of Patricia Lockwoodâs 2017 spectacularly crafted memoir âPriest Daddyâ, when they heard a window shatter. A librarian had smelled the humorous and deft poetics of Lockwoodâs impeccable writing and broke in to devour the readers of this sharp and emotional story of religion, family, and toxic masculinity. When the librarian found the two sisters, it attacked. It was not the Robertson sistersâ first fight against a librarian. They, along with Councilwoman Tamika Flynn, survived the summer reading program at the Night Vale Public Library three years ago. They nearly did not survive todayâs attack.
It was thanks to Sheriff Samâs quick response that police were able to stop the librarian from further damage. Unfortunately, the librarian, whose name was Dan McDowell, escaped police custody and is still on the loose.
Tamika Flynn, on behalf of the City Council, still away on vacation until this whole thing blows over, expressed sadness for her injured friends and fellow bibliophiles Lisa and Marcia. The Mayor doubled down on her earlier statements and blamed this tragic attack on a city-wide failure to pay for upkeep of municipal buildings. âThere was no one there to lock the librariansâ cages, to feed them regularly,â the Mayor said. âAs a city, it is our responsibility to protect life, yes, but also protect a life worth living.â Councilwoman Flynn thanked the Mayor for her comments, but then promptly called for a closing of the port authority. No ships in or out of town. Night Vale has no body of water to speak of, but the occasional freighter or cruise ship does arrive.
Flynn also moved curfew to 6 PM and said no one is allowed within 100 feet of the library, or any bookstore, for that matter. âThese days my father only talks about the robot uprising,â Flynn said. âFor a long time, I thought he was just being weird. Thereâs no robot uprising! I have seen advanced robotics, and those things can barely walk. Even my phone struggles to load a basic Google image search for âvaping slothsâ. But what if there were robots we do not know about? Metaphorical robots. What if the things we cannot see, cannot predict? Why not be prepared to protect ourselves against âany- enemy?â She added her regret that people would not have access to books anymore, but added that maybe, the city should get everyone a nook. âIs nook still a thing?â Flynn added. âWhatever. Mayor Cardinal, letâs have the city buy everyone an e-reader.â Flynn concluded her speech with: âI know curfew is early, but curfew doesnât apply to law enforcement. Youâre all welcome to join my new Vigilante Citizen Squad. Help us beat the hell out of crime after dark!â Lucky laughed, or barked, it was unclear which, and they both left, Tamikaâs spurs rattinglina dn long cape swithing.
The Mayor has appealed to the public for support, stating that once we have a full coronerâs report on the bodies of Tristan and Camilla Cortez, we can engage iun a true investigation, rather than martial law. But given Tamikaâs success in eradication the robberies, most people still trust her ability to stop librarians. I mean, battling those things is her specialty. Thereâs no one better. Iâm not really afraid of robbers who target businesses, I mean, whoâs gonna hold up a radio station? Or a science lab, where my husband works? But if librarians start believing they can wander anywhere, attack anyone reading any old book by one of Americaâs foremost poets or word smiths, then they could attack me, or Carlos. Or Steve, or Abby, or Janice. I-I know it seems like Iâm scared, but Iâm not. Like you, Iâm just â wary. Wary of lurking disaster. Plus thereâs so much to keep me entertained at home after curfew. Itâs not like the 1990âs when the only technology we had was putting on politically satirical puppet shows using rocks with cartoon faces drawn on them. Itâs actually enjoyable to turn in early each night. Iâve got an Xbox, a VR helmet, some vegetation that is tootally legal, and Susan Wilmanâs HBO Go password, which Steve gripped for me. Itâs great!
I donât know how long we ca keep this up,but for now, I just want to feel safe. Stay tuned next for.. wait, hold on. Oh.. I just received a fax that the coronerâs report has been completed, Night Vale and.. huh. Oh wow! Ooh, youâre not going to like this! You know what, letâs save it.Â
itâs almost dark, Night Vale, curfew is almost upon us. This will pass as all things will pass. Weâre in good hands in Tamikaâs hands. If thereâs anyone who knows how to protect us from librarians, she does.
Stay tuned next for the sound of two men cuddled up in bed watching the new season of Insecure.
And good night, Night Vale, Good night. Â
Todayâs proverb: Pull this lever. Donât worry, you will never know the result.

Fic Recs
For @bakatoraâ who - to my interpretation - asked for some heartwarming, uplifting plotty fics you can sink your teeth into and come out feeling better because reality is hard right now, which I honestly really need myself. Iâve been so busy with exams and essays for the past three weeks, I havenât even been writing fanfic, I think this is actually the longest Iâve ever gone without writing something, and Iâm still not finished. Last exam is on Friday, and then Iâm gonna crash.
But anyway, Iâll list these by fandom since you said any, and most of them are complete too, hope you enjoy :)

âThis job... we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everybody. But if we can't find a way to live with that, next time... maybe nobody gets saved.â At the end of the day Steve did save everybody. He saved Bucky from Tony, his team from the government, the world from the Sokovia Accords. Some time would probably have to pass for things to blow over, and then everything would go back to normal. Couple of days. Tops. After all Team Cap saved everybody, showing the world how dangerous the accords were, how easily they could be abused. Even their supporters had to come to their senses now. Yet five days after Siberia nobody feels safe. Things donât calm down and suddenly itâs again Steve against the rest of the world. Only now itâs not some international organisation or government but the people. The ones he had saved. Slowly Captain America must realize that they donât feel saved but angry, hurt and scared. The people demand justice for those who were really trying to save them and paid the price for it.

Teen Wolf
Naughty Hookers (Swathed in Wool) by pprfaith
Stiles is happy with his store, his hobbies, his friends. Peter's just trying to figure out how to raise his nieces and nephew without fucking them up too badly. Paths cross.
All In A Spin by ShippersList
Stiles can't really talk anymore but, with Peter, he realizes he doesn't have to. Even if their spoken communication consists of one swear word and stuttered syllables, they understand each other. And that's what counts.
If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out by mia6363
Commander Stilinski looked like he fell out of a propaganda video, his armor still smoking as he pulled off his helmet and handed it off to First Officer Argent. He had a few bruises down his neck but his smile was bright. âGlad to see you safe and sound, Mr. Hale. Iâd hate for Derek to lose a member of his family.â âI told you,â Derek snapped at his superior, âheâs not worth this, Commander.â
Out Of The East, Never See The Sun Rise by ladypigswagon
In the beginning, there are three absolutes. One. Stiles is a god, forged of starlight and collapsing galaxies and he is eternal. Two. Peter is human, fragile bone and viscous blood and he is temporary. Three. Stiles and Peter are in love; love that claws its way inside oneâs heart like fish hooks; all encompassing love that is beautiful but dangerous. Stiles is a god. Peter is human. They love each other. Three absolutes.
Save Me by DiscontentedWinter
Peter is the Alpha. He's nobody's savior. Not his pack's. Not his town's. And not that kid's. But sometimes salvation goes both ways.

The Unexpected Marriage of Peter Hale by moonstalker24
This is the story of how Peter gets married without technically dating anyone. âYou can bring your boyfriend with you,â Talia says. Peter stops giving Henry more bits of dried fruit to stare at his sister âBoyfriend?â âOf course!â Talia gestures at Stiles who looks around behind him with wide eyes. âIâm sure the whole family would be interested in meeting your young man.â
The Sphinx of Beacon Hills by Guede
Stiles is a sphinx, and heâs winging his way to visit his buddy Scott when a storm drops him in Beacon Hills, the craziest, crankiest, coldest place ever. And somehow, he ends up with a bunch of werewolves.
Proposing To Strangers by moonstalker24
At the end of a strained relationship, crime novelist Stiles chooses to hide from the world inside a bar with far too many motorcycles outside it for comfort. Here he'll meet the man of his dreams, eat food and propose marriage, all within the first five minutes. Peter doesn't know who this kid is, but he's cute and looks like he could use a break. So he feeds him. He's not expecting a marriage proposal, but with what comes after, he doesn't really mind.
it's not the color i came in by nezstorm
Stiles is a bit of an anomaly among the Omegas he knows, or everyone on the spectrum really. For him, heats are about comfort and safety, and not at all about sex.
Whiskey is My Kind of Lullaby by taylorpotato
Peter is a simple saloon owner on one of the outer planets between the Aaru Belt and the Olympus Galaxy. Heâs done with trouble. Done with adventure. So fucking done with rustlers. That is, until a cute young outlaw named Stiles wanders into his bar. Peter has this problem where he canât seem to resist charming narcissists (perhaps because they remind him of himself). And when said narcissists turn his life upside-down, the worst part is heâs not even that upset about it.

There May Be Some Collateral Damage by metisket (BleachxHP)
Ichigoâs been ordered to go undercover at a magic school to bodyguard a kid named Harry Potter, and this would be fine, except that heâs about as good at bodyguarding as he is at magic. And he considers it a good day, magic-wise, if he hasnât set anything on fire.
Of Wizards and Heroes by littlelightsinourheart (storyforsomeone)Â (HPxMarvel)
Centuries after that fatal day of the battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter has fallen into legend, a bedtime story parents tell their children, a name whispered around campfires. He wanders the world alone and immortal, until one single reckless moment sends him hurtling into a parallel dimension of heroes and villains. A new enemy arises from an ancient power, and Harry must take a stand as the last wizard to protect this new world. If only SHIELD would stop trying to track him down...and someone could explain what the hell was an 'Avenger' was supposed to be. Honestly, muggles...

i blinked (and there you were) by Della19Â (Doctor WhoxKingsman)
The Weeping Angels, Eggsy reads on the stolen Torchwood intel. Aliens that pose as statues, and kill their victims by sending them back in time and feeding off their years not lived in the present. The politest psychopaths in the universe, a note reads, scrawled in what looks like a doctorâs chicken scratch on the edge of the page by someone who clearly had a perverse sense of humour. A one way trip, the report concludes; you get transported by the angels, and itâs the slow road back to the present for you. Eggsy lays his head back on the wall, takes stock of his situation. Heâs lost 30 years - three years more than his entire lifespan up âtil now - in the blink of an eye, and now heâs stuck here, in 1988. Three years before heâs even born. Arthur, the prick, is sure to be heading up the Kingsmen, and Merlin, if heâs even there would beâŚ20, maybe. Fuck, so fucking young. Shite, even Harryâd only be⌠Alive, Eggsy thinks, and finds himself sitting down hard from where his knees canât hold him. This is 1988, and Harryâs 23, and alive. Suddenly, being stuck in 1988 doesnât seem so bad. Or, the one where love means changing the future.
