the long way down job is such an important turning point in eliot & parker’s relationship bc they’d both been viewing the things they have in common as fairly negative: they’ve both been told that they’re cold and ruthless and dangerous and they know those things are true. so when they’ve recognised themselves in each other, it’s been a sense of "the thing that’s wrong with me is a lot like the thing that’s wrong with you". and there’s comfort in that, in a way. but now eliot gets parker to see that maybe those aren’t all negative traits, they’re just… traits. neutral. it doesn’t make them bad or good, it makes them who they are. and now when they see themselves reflected in each other, it’s not a reminder that they’re wrong and bad - it’s kinship, it’s familiarity, it’s belonging.

I really love how Queen have defended the Break Free video.
It absolutely destroyed their career in the USA at the time. America was the motherland of musical success, it was their hopes and dreams that they worked their asses off for and they made one video that cost them future hits and lost them their audience and potentially millions of dollars and they VERY EASILY could have immediately backtracked and been like “haha yeah we didn’t really like it, probably wouldn’t do it again but you know how Freddie is”
Y’know trying to please both sides and crap so they could remain business as usual. Or just not taking it as seriously as they did. But Freddie didn’t want to tour there—in protest and probably also for safety reasons—and they were with him completely and have STOOD. BY. THAT. VIDEO
FOR FORTY. Y E A R S
and you see it in interviews from across all those decades, questions like “did you ENJOY dressing up as a woman??” “How much convincing did it take” “must’ve been Freddie’s idea of course”
and every single time both Brian and Roger have been like “absolutely no convincing whatsoever, we loved it, best time we’ve had making a video, it was awesome, we had a blast, this is our favorite one”
THAT is true allyship. Common sense nowadays, sure. But for a musical act of their status in that time and culture/expectation to completely give up their golden ticket in favor of what was (kinda) protest for a social issue (and of course, protecting Freddie I’m sure)…it’s just not what you would expect but it continually delights me

I’ve seen a bunch of theories about the snow witch that hinge on the assumption that her name is Renna, but what if Renna was never actually supposed to be her name?
what we know about the snow witch, or snowy crone, is that she was a weird old lady in the woods who taught the young Ranni heretical cold sorcery, and wore the pointed hat and robe Ranni wears now. Ranni’s doll body is said to be “modeled after” her… but it cannot be a perfect 1:1 impersonation of her, because Ranni doesn’t look like a “crone” at all!
Rather than an attempt to fully impersonate the snow witch, I think Ranni’s doll body is more of an homage to her old mentor. and with that in mind, I think that the name “Renna” might also be an homage to perhaps the most important mentor in Ranni’s life — her mother.
I think it’s very fitting for Ranni to use her new persona as a way of maintaining her connection to her teachers after she slew her physical body and abandoned her previous life. though Ranni is accused of being cold and unfeeling, she’s actually very sentimental — her co-conspirators are her closest childhood companions, her base of operations her childhood home. she still loves her mother and defends both her body and her legacy. she died wearing her mother’s talisman. wouldn’t it be sweet if she chose to call herself Renna out of love for Rennala?

HEARTBREAKING: the fact that Olric is so immensely popular while only a relatively small amount of people have mentioned Bunny Olric leads me to conclude that not a lot of players are doing Juniper’s heart events

I keep coming back to the fact that Eddie and Chris were playing boggle - both in Bucks loft and in the Diaz house in ep 1. Because boggle is about finding the words in a mass of letters - the answers are in plain sight- literally staring you straight in the face.
Eddie is the one who wins the game - because he is the one who needs to find the answers, not Chris - and it suggests he will in fact figure out what’s been in plain sight all along.
But I love the idea that Chris does have some of the same answers as Eddie. Not all of the same answers and he’ll perhaps have found some different words to Eddie, because they both ultimately want/need different things from their respective relationships with Buck, but that there is cross over in those wants and needs.

When people say “I’m okay with Buck & Eddie not ending up together as long as their friendship doesn’t change”, I hate to say it, but that’s just not possible.
I’m not saying that they’re going to stop being best friends or anything, but if they get into actual, healthy, serious relationships, with people that are well matched & good for them, their current relationship is going to change. It’s inevitable.
I do believe that they’ll always be family, that they’ll do their best to be there for each other & for Chris, but they get so much from each other. In the past, even unintentionally, they’ve been more emotionally connected to each other than they have been with their partner, & that’s part of why their friendship is so solid, because they’re both only ever vulnerable with the other.
If they find good, healthy, stable partners, they’re not going to need each other in the same way, and that’s going to change their relationship. Do you honestly believe that Eddie is going to leave Buck as Chris’ legal guardian if he finds a partner that he actually & genuinely loves and enjoys being with? (The fanfic writer in me wants to say yes, but the realist in me says no lol.)
If Buck falls in love with someone who is accepting & soft and kind and understanding with him, that person is going to be the one he goes to first for everything, not Eddie.
So much of their friendship is rooted in the way they show up for each other in ways that only committed partners really do, and if they fall in love & get serious and marry other people, it’s not going to be the same.
I just, idk if I’m explaining it eloquently enough, if I have the right words for it, but unless Buddie goes canon or they keep ending up in these half-assed relationships where they repeat the same mistakes over & over again, their relationships and these “moments” everyone loves so much are going to stop.
