top of the head, lips. it just feels sooo domestic to give u a quick peck on the lips when he leaves for work or when you come up and check on him when he's working in his studio. he loves it. and kissing the top of your head… it's like a protective gesture, from him. it reassures you that he's there for you, and also affirms for him that you're there, you're safe, you're near him and it's all okay. woozi will never say it in so many words, but those small, domestic acts of affection are the ones he adores the most.

knuckles and temple. he likes holding ur hands, and u love holding his, so the knuckle kisses and the light kisses against your fingers kinda ended up being an unintentional side effect of that. it's a small, intimate act, and makes u blush every time which he definitely sees as a bonus. also there's just something so soft about leaning over to kiss your temple, and every time you make that soft, pleased sound when he does, it warms his heart and has him smiling widely in adoration.

everywhere, really. this man is genuinely the epitome of down-bad, so he will kiss you anywhere he can reach because every inch of you is gorgeous and u need to know that's how he feels. he can't pick a favourite spot because they're all his favourite purely because it's you he's kissing. like i cannot emphasise enough that he has no preference so long as he gets to hold u in his arms and gets to kiss u until you're all pretty and flustered and blushy like the loveliest being on earth

Celeste Sallow: OK THIS IS THE NAME IM SUPER PROUD OF BAHAHA because not only does the name celeste relate to the stars (in typical ravenclaw fashion...clora picked the name) but celeste sallow is also an alliteration. BUT, its an alliteration that begins with a C, which means clora gets to match with celeste in the form of both of their names starting with a C, whereas sebastian gets to match with celeste because both of their names are an alliteration/they're alliteration allies🥹ITS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!🥳

Lewis Sallow: as for lewis, if you've read my fic then you know that seb has a vendetta against names that start with an L bahaha, but 'lewis' was actually HIS idea. when celeste was born, seb wanted to find a muggle story to read to her, since clora's favourite story is ALSO a muggle one (sherlock), and he wanted to stick with tradition. so he ended up finding alice in wonderland, which he loved because of how adventurous and clever alice was and of how much she reminded him of clora and celeste (both personality and looks wise). it became his favourite for those reasons, to the point that when they had lewis, sebastian overcame his L-name hatred by naming their son after lewis carroll.

Houses: celeste could have been sorted into either gryffindor or slytherin, but ultimately ends up in slytherin because she wants to be like seb. kinda like how clora also probably could have been in gryffindor, tbh. as for lewis.....him being 10000% in ravenclaw doesnt need any explanation BAHA, just look at him.

Appearance: since clora has a tiny bit of veela blood in her, thats obvs passed down to their kids, too, and so they mostly take after her as a result of it. but there's still little bits of seb that shine through in each of the kids: for lewis its his brown curly hair, and for celeste its her complexion/freckles. and the fact that celeste looks so similar to clora only doubles up sebastian's stress/protective instincts when he watches her BAHAH. he's ofc still proud that she takes after him so closely, but seb also cant deny that he wishes it had been their SON that had taken after him instead, to keep her out of danger.

Celeste & Lewis: for celeste and lewis’ relationship, celeste is a super proud big sister, and treats lewis kinda like how seb treats clora. if there's anything that needs to be done, she offers to do it for him. and although she doesn’t have the patience to read stories herself, she loves playing outside and having lewis read to her in the background, and loves to act out/use his stories to fuel her imagination. and lewis makes sure to pick stories that he KNOWS she’ll like (which mostly involve heroic and daring feats of adventurers or pirates. he's tried to read more classic fairytales and romances to her a few times, but celeste always gets bored). she loves to draw though, so sometimes when lewis reads books that have no pictures, she'll draw them herself.

Celeste & Seb/Clora: celeste is a daddy's girl LOL and always tries to impress seb with the stuff she does, especially after hearing how HE was at her age, and so its half to impress and half because shes competitive that she wants to do the same/be just as good. and seb always gets a kick out of hearing her feats in the crossed wands club, or in defense against the dark arts class, and he also goads her on, telling her she'll have to do better than that if she wants to be as good as HE was. and whenever celeste gets detention, clora always stresses and asks why, whereas seb just tries to keep the smirk off his face. as for celeste and clora, clora also reads to celeste, and bakes and cooks with her, which is something celeste actually likes doing. not only because it keeps her busy and she likes to help and get messy in general, but also because she likes the fact that it results in good food afterwards LOL, and constantly asks when things can be taken out of the oven. also, for as tomboy-y as celeste is, she honestly doesn't mind/likes the clothing that clora puts her in and likes when clora dresses her up, bc it makes her look like one of the princesses from the storybooks, and it just amuses her more than anything else. once she enters hogwarts, though, its mostly trousers. but she still DOES like the occasional girly clothing.

Lewis & Seb/Clora: lewis is a momma's boy LOL and unlike celeste, doesnt care about duelling or of proving himself or anything like that, and is only concerned with stories and his future studies. so ofc clora had to show him sherlock, which he naturally loved. it even inspired lewis to want to write his own stories, so that he could challenge his own skill and see if he could, but also because he wants his mom to read them, and likes the idea of writing his own sherlock-esque story with equations and mysteries to be solved that he can offer her. lewis also wants to write a book for celeste as well, bc although he wont admit it, he basically wants to write a story tailor-made for her and her interests. one that he thinks will have everything she’d love in it. and part of it is genuinely because he WANTS to do it for her, but the other part of it is also for his ego, and to see if he CAN write a compelling story, and write something that would actually get THE hyperactive celeste to sit down and read it in its entirety (not to mention of her own volition). as for with seb, lewis looks up to him more than anyone else, due to how well-rounded he is and how hes so good at practical stuff AND studying, and he kinda sees seb as a main character/protagonist from one of his books, and uses sebastian as inspiration for his own stories. if hes stuck on what he thinks the dashing main character should do next, he'll ask his dad what HE would do, which results in seb getting very weird questions that he nonetheless is always happy to answer. also, when lewis is older and finally learns the full story of what happened with clora and seb and ranrok and rookwood, he writes their story in novel form, except he just changes their names/some of the details, and it becomes a best seller LOL. and i didnt know where to put this, but the four of them all read a story before bed every night, with lewis in the middle and seb and clora on either side of him. though celeste stands at the foot of the bed, basically doing a charade/mime show of what theyre reading, and putting on a little play to go along with it BAHHA.

OK thats all i can think of for now ive yapped enough😩 if youve read all of this ur a real one.... ive also considered giving them a 3rd (and last) child, which would be a boy that looks exactly like seb, and seb would just be praying like please.....let this son take after me🧎‍♂️🙏 BAHHA

wow oh my gosh i didn't expect so many people to see that last post, thank you so so much!! and i loved reading everyone's thoughts too, thank you guys so much for taking the time to read my "analysis" (yaps) and taking the time to leave your own responses!!

here's part 2:

alright so after covering the past exenstively, lets go back to the present, where karamatsu hides his true feelings about things to avoid creating or being involved in conflict (and sometimes to avoid doing something that's inconvenient, like helping choromatsu lmao). karamatsu is so funny to me because unlike the others, he's so passive about everything. i have so many examples of this:

he always waits for girls to hit on him, he just poses and waits for the ladies to flock to him lmao. such a diva

he usually isn't the one to ever begin a conversation with the bros as a group, he'll mostly jump in once the conversation is happening

if he does strike up a conversation, it's usually one on one (and it's usually either with choromatsu, osomatsu, and occasionally jyushimatsu, who are the bros he has the least amount of conflict with)

he mostly doesn't start fights, he'll almost always get wrapped into them

ofc, he almost never fights back when it comes to being insulted by any of his brothers

he usually only insults osomatsu (or indirectly choromatsu, but that feels more like teasing than anything)

that being said, he does have his moments of proactiveness. i believe it's really in those moments when you get a sense of who he really is and you get a peek into his true feelings

so these were the ones i knew off the top of my head, but most of these scenes (save for pizza) are him trying to be a good older brother. either that, or trying to take control of the situation for his brother's sake.

but also don't get me wrong, he does have his moments of proactive awfulness. sometimes accidental, sometimes not.

see, in my eyes, his passivity is a form of self preservation. i think on a subconscious level, he doesn't really take an active role in his own life (and his brother's) because the last time he asserted himself and truly tried to take control, he ended up causing his brothers to fight.

but to go even deeper, on an emotional level, he does it to avoid the feelings of rejection and failure he experienced after the fight. it's a way to protect himself from the possibility that he'll end up hurt again (and secondarily, the possibility that he'll make things worse for his brothers again).

this is also why i think he doesn't really listen to people. it's the same principle. karamatsu would rather live in his own bubble of self-aggrandizing delusion than truly face himself and others. he lives in this insulated echo chamber of his own thoughts and feelings, and since karamatsu is a dummy, this makes him ultimately blind to his own shortcomings. this also prevents him from having genuine and vulnerable relationships with his brothers. not only does he refuse to tell them how he really feels, he also refuses to truly listen to them and take their words to heart (as hurtful as they may be). but you know who he does listen to? you know who he does actually tell his true feelings to? you guessed it:

in full transparency, this is me being very lazy. but i wrote about this a while back when discussing the amazing doujin: Karamatsu's Brand New World.

karamatsu is a passionate, exclusive, caring, selfish, self-aggrandizing, delusional, stupid, kind, sensitive, cowardly, selfless, petty, lazy, cringey, blunt, lovable guy

he's ultimately a very flawed character and i can truly understand his popularity both here and in japan. but i think a lot of people interpret him as this perfect, selfless guy. no no, he sucks. they all do. and he's really stupid, he may be the dumbest out of the 6, though not by much. but all of his flaws and strong points make him a such great character. i hope i did him justice.

i'm really really excited for the fourth season, i hope we get more karamatsu exploration this season as well! if we don't, then i'll take every crumb i can get and talk endlessly about it anyways.

sunday was incapable of washing his hands. it was not the simple, physical act of washing that he was incapable of (he could very much put his hands under water and scrub them with soap) but rather the person's rebirth that came afterwards. a body renewed of dirt and blood after another apathetic sacrifice. to forget how his singular existence managed to extinguish countless burning dreams. sunday was incapable of cleaning his incorrigible sins. that was why sunday was incapable of washing his hands.

for this reason, he believed that he could never put his sin-ridden hands anywhere near you.

although he maintained his unwritten rule of preserving a distance away from you, fantasies of being by your side still clawed at his mind. for all the times he saw you injure yourself, he wished he could've tended to your wounds. or if the slightest brush against your fingers would be okay for him to transgress.

why was it so arduous to quell this desire within him? when the time came to follow his planned script, it was so easy - so natural. to unconsciously slash away the insignificant variables and outliers without a doubt, to devote all of himself to his new utopia, was sunday's raison d'être*. to exist as an artefact of all the lives he ripped away in the name of order. ultimately, he was a filthy, dirty, unclean creature that couldn't even wash his hands.

therefore, you and sunday existed on two parallel planes. you, as radiant as light, and he, who lurked behind as your shadow, watching you from afar. your crescent smile and starry eyes that reminded him of the night sky he dreamed of as a child, now cometh to life in the form of you. how your strength could govern the mountains and how your kindness soothed raging fires. the way your entire presence felt like the shore that he was always meant to return to.

he adored your every little thing. but it was... no, it was irrefutable in sunday's mind: this was forbidden. you had violated the enclosure he steeled around his long abandoned heart and planted your bud in his guarded territory. but before sunday knew it, he was unknowingly growing this bud with every aching glance; every time he stretched his fingers towards you but quickly retracted them; every slight smirk at your ridiculous humour.

which was once an enigma to sunday, you had blossomed the meaning of life into his heart, which had stretched to accommodate your significance. your flowering bud electrified his heartbeats when sunday did something as minute as a look at you. it pulsed this mantra, with as much strength it could muster: to be with you is to be human again.

SECRETLY HAS PINTEREST BAHAHAHAHA but just for finding poetry and looking at bonsai trees. Mikey found out (like he doesn't have pinterest too??) and they all ended up making fun of him for it to the point where Leo debated deleting the app but ended up forgetting about it.

very specific but he has this unique type of love language where he'll ask you something and without any further questions he will go get or accomplish whatever he hinted at. for example, y'all will just be hanging out, and he'll go, "are you hungry?" and if you just as much nod your head hesitantly he will run to the kitchen and make you a 3 course meal. or, he'll just ask you if you're cold, and if you say yes he brings you a heater and a blanket. he doesn't ask things like, "can i get you a water?" he'll just ask if you're thirsty and go from there.

has the most gorgeous handwriting on the planet. this beautiful cursive print that is lowkey unreadable but so aesthetically pleasing. at first you were shocked but as you got to know him it made lots of sense, literally probably his biggest hobby is just remembering some random thing and then spending weeks straight perfecting it until it's natural for him. he loves to challenge himself to be perfect at literally anything, and his hand writing is one of those instances.

speaks fluent japanese OF COURSE but his brothers don't know it as well as he does (they all know a little at least) and he'll curse them out quietly in japanese behind their backs.

Leo wouldn't say he had a favorite brother of course but he definitely prefers Don's presense over the others. they always go to each other first when they have a problem or just want to rant, and they have a bunch of inside jokes.

after Donnie, Leo's the biggest insomniac. he gets nightmares a lot unfortunately, and most times when he wakes up he physically can't go back to sleep. literally Mikey will get up for a glass of water at 4:37 in the morning and Leo is up doing flips.

very random, but Leo is AWFUL at math. he meant to learn at some point but the time passed and he missed the boat. ofc math is Don's second language and Mikey and Raph couldn't care less (but somehow Mikey always guesses the right answers without doing the correct work??) but Leo is lowkey embarrassed that he struggles with it so much. he can do basic math and most things that come up in daily life like practical equations, but anything past times tables and division he cannot understand. if you come over and need help on your math homework he will try his HARDEST to help you but ultimately he's completely clueless.

always takes bugs outside. if the creepy crawly is creepy enough or makes you screech, he'll whip it with his katana but normally he'll take the time to scoop it up in his hands (literally no fear) and walk it outside calmly.

literally LOVES doing chores. it's like a form of self care for him. folding laundry, sweeping, mopping, washing the dishes, organizing the dojo, he'll literally put on some music and go to town. when he visits you he will literally just start straightening things up and picking things off of the floor. he hates having nothing to do so he'll just ask for something he can clean while y'all chit chat.

incredibly flexible. he can bend every which way, sit comfortably in a split for hours, can bend over IN HALF and grab the back of his legs--he's literally maxed out on flexibility. but splits training is his private time so unless you sneak you won't catch a glance. but when you do, in between of sliding dojo doors, it is... something. like excuse me sir how tf doesn't that hurt your bAWLLS

smells like lavender. dead serious his signature scent is lavender. it's not like he wears cologne or anything, he just lights a lot of lavender incense and candles to the point where if someone even steps foot in his room they walk out aroma-fied.

everyone in the fandom has their personal opinion of who's the best cook and who's the worst cook of the four, and it is finally time for my hot take of the century. i think Leo is by far the best chef, and Raph is the one who can't even make toast right (BUT he can grill i will admit the man can grill!). a lot of people say Mikey is the chef of the family, which i agree with, he enjoys cooking and baking very much, but this doesn't mean the food he makes is good 💀💀💀 he trusts himself over any recipe and so he just throws in whatever he feels like. Leo can't stand being in the kitchen while Mikey is cooking, his ocd can't stand it. this said, you'd think this would mean the guys prefer Leo's cooking over Mikey's but fact is Leo is such a perfectionist he will spend hours working on a meal it's past 11 by the time he's done. and he doesn't take requests, he only makes what he wants and then on top of that the healthnut version. he makes sushi a lot and goes crazy when you bring him salmon.

IS SUCH A DORK BAHAHAHA if you even so much MENTION a book or a show he likes he will blabber for HOURS about it. he knows every single fact there is to know about star trek it is insane. you amuse him not because you're interested of course but he is just so damn adorable when he's talking about something he enjoys (which he rarely gets the chance to without being made fun of LMAO)

So the Jeff sadeki sister isn’t actually a proper oc it’s just an idea I had that I thought I would post as a face claim in case someone else wanted to steal it

These two look so insanely alike so my idea was that it was Jeff’s sister, who Shauna was with/in love with or something and is the reason she died

Or at least feels guilty for it even if she’s not the direct cause

And then, alike Jackie, goes on to haunt the narrative and follow her around in her adult life

And to make it all so much worse, she sees the woman she loved everyday in the form of her daughter

The daughter she already has her issues with, holding her at arms length after what happened to the oc, Jackie, and her wilderness baby

Her growing up to look just like Jeff’s sister only made it so so much worse

Now elena is deffo gonna be a proper oc for me

I’ve only just started coming up with stuff for her

But the general gist of her character is that she’s one of the younger girls from the flight

She’s technically good enough to be in the varsity team and her dad coach Martinez wants her to be, but her mum is concerned she’s too young and needs to focus on her studies (one of the many things the two adults argue about) so she’s on the junior varsity team

She’s besties with mari and robin who are like the little babies of the group (mari isn’t one of the younger girls she just acts like it lmao)

A lot of the girls baby her because they know her better than a lot of the other junior varsity girls and she’s obviously younger than them all

Robin is one of the love interests, as well as Lottie

I’m not 100% sure yet but I also think I wanna add in a little Natalie romance 🤭

Travis and her don’t get along brilliantly at the beginning of their time in the wilderness

She’s always been a golden girl with her dad and so she takes his death really hard and Travis, alike how he was with Javi, deals with that in a pretty difficult way

But after they’ve settled and especially everything with Javi happens, he gets very protective of her

Elena becomes really influenced by Lottie in the later months of them in the wilderness, following all her teachings and listening to her every word

In season 3 she’s one of the main people Lottie gives drugs to, taking her to the cave and nearly killing her one time when she passes out and cracks her head on the rocks

After this point Travis tries to put a stop to it, keeping the two apart and eventually, digging the pit

He plans to kill Lottie off for the greater good, the woman who’s stopping all their chances of going home, manipulated him and now, is killing his little sister

However Lottie doesn’t die

(Obviously there is some aspects we don’t know yet cause the eps aren’t out)

But eventually

Elena becomes the pit girl, Travis ultimately causing the death of his younger sister by building that pit

After they were rescued

Lottie and Travis both blame themselves for elenas death

She haunts them both till the days they die

Lottie try’s to make a sanctuary for herself and Elena, even if Elena wasn’t there to enjoy it. She would make a safe space for people like them

She feels protective of Travis because of Elena, like she has to help the man because of what she did to her

However the day he dies, she sees Elena in the barn (or warehouse type thing whatever the building they were in was) which distracts her, and lets Travis die

She also 100% sees Elena the night she dies too

Jack has some insecurities he's grappling with internally, yeah :( they have different forms, but ultimately come from the same place: the fear he isn't good enough, like you suggested. There's a more general side to it, plus one more closely related to Burning Spice

🔺 Jack secretly fears/worries that his father does not like him/is disappointed in him. They're quite different from each other in a lot of ways and don't always know how to communicate their thoughts/feelings to each other, so there's a bit of a gap between them in that sense (one that doesn't exist between BS and his sister, which makes it a little worse). He yearns for his father's approval and often goes out of his way to do things that he thinks will earn him that (ex: asking BS to read history books with him, or asking him questions about the past. Jack likes history already, that's a natural-born interest of his, but because his father was once the Herald of Change/History, there's that additional point of "if I show my dad I'm smart like him, and like the same stuff as him, he'll be happy. He'll be proud of me"). It isn't necessary, of course; his fears are entirely unfounded, Burning Spice loves his son dearly, just as he is. He just isn't the best at expressing it sometimes (I imagine BS being. Like. Very emotionally constipated lol. He makes a lot of progress w GC but a brand new hurdle is made with the kids bc he can't necessarily talk to them like he does to her, at least not right away. Children need to be handled/spoken to differently). They'll patch this up eventually but it's a bit difficult and awkward for a lot of Jack's childhood

🐦 Jack naturally holds himself to a very high standard. It's just who he is and has always been. He's not arrogant by any means, but he does expect a lot from himself. Admittedly a little bit of it comes from external forces - his family, his friends, the kingdom - but it's really mostly him. People expect a lot from him (not out of malice ofc, no one is trying to make him feel pressured/insufficient at all), but he expects the most from himself. He needs to always be his best, for everyone else's sake.

I've been drafting little playlists for both kids (I like doing that for characters I like + OCs, it's a way I help myself understand their vibes) and one song I attribute to Pepper Jack is "Surface Pressure" from Encanto. These lines in particular encapsulate his feelings pretty well imo:

If both he and Paneer are scared of something, he'll be the one to put on a brave face and hold steady, because being there for her is more important. made a new post bc the original was long enough as it was but i've been chewing on these tags @ropebunnykant left on it for a while now because they've really been bothering me and i've been tryna figure out why. like i know i talked about kant always being splintered into different versions of himself or existing w an asterisk next to his name but like.... does it run deeper than that? does kant actually know who is outside of his relationships to others? does kant know who he is beyond the superficial stuff? would kant know how to be alone?

i think the answer is no

i don't think kant has a real sense of identity. i don't think he's ever been afforded the opportunity to develop one. it's why he doesn't think he's interesting. it's why, when he does something objectively nice for james, it doesn't even occur to him to mention it. it's why he doesn't really know how to talk about himself. like ok he likes art. ok he's a tattooist. but what else do we know about kant? kant as a person, not in relation to others. what about his personality? what does he like? what does he want to do in the future? who is he when he's alone in bed at night?

what does he want?

the only thing we're actually explicitly told about kant by kant himself that doesn't somehow tie back to someone else is that he loved sports, especially basketball. but the most interesting part of that to me is that those were things he did in high school. over 10 years ago. probably right around the time his parents died. and its like wow..... is that the last time he liked something just for the sake of liking it? was the last time he had hobbies? the man is 29, and yet the only thing he could think to bring up about himself was something he liked and did when he was 18? is that all there is?

ofc we know at some point around that time that his parents died and he had to take over custody of babe. that lead to bills and the car thieving and captain christ and kant probably didn't leave any time for kant himself. completely understandable. but when you're that young your personality is still forming. you're figuring out who you are, what you want, what you like and what you don't. and when you don't have time to experiment and engage with the world in any meaningful way and you're constantly operating from a place of fear and lack and desperation, what then? what are you left with then?

kant does have a personality. he's definitely not a blank slate. he's cheeky and clever, a (relatively) smooth talker. he has a sense of style and he has friends and he has a job he's passionate about and clearly good at. but that's kind of where it ends if you look at him in isolation. he's brave, but bc he's had to be. he's adaptable, but out of necessity. he's lots of things but most of them are born out of the life he's led as opposed to who he is as a person. he's thoughful, and he's romantic. caring, loyal. willing to do anything for the ones he loves - but all of that ultimately that all goes back to others. it goes back to giving, bc that's what kant does. i don't think he knows who he is if he's not pouring his cup into someone else's. i don't think he knows how to love without putting his life on the line for it.

so then who actually is kant? does he even know? among the many versions of himself that he's had to be over the years, does kant even know which parts were real and which ones were fake? which ones were born out of desperation and which ones acted out of necessity? did he bet on football matches bc he liked it or bc he needed a lot of money quickly? did he hang around with those people because he liked them or bc he'd got so used to being around questionable people working under christ's thumb that he doesn't know how to be around 'normal' people? did he have a lot of one night stands bc he liked it and that's all he wanted, or was it bc he didn't really know how to be in a real relationship with someone? did he help james out of the kindness of his heart or because he doesn't know how to be someone's friend without offering them something, even when it's something you can't really afford to offer?

i don't know exactly. i don't know where kant ends and trauma begins. but i do know that there's something fucked up about kant's sense of identity. and i do know that i want to dissect him like a lab frog to figure out exactly what the fuck is going on in there.

primarily, we decided that he grew up w a lot of siblings, in a middle class family who lived on a farmhouse in the countryside with a wood nearby that they all spent a lot of time exploring. constant muddy wellies and scabbed knees from climbing trees and splashing about in the stream. the chaos of a busy house that's filled w love. think nanny mcphee, swallows and amazons, lost boys vibes

peter is the second oldest. and he's basically a mischievous little woodland sprite. like he's incredibly cherubic-looking and generally thought to be a ‘lovely, polite young man’, old ladies loooove to pinch his cheeks, but he's got this glint in his eye that's just a little too sharp, his laughter a little too mean, his pranks a little too cruel. and he's always up to one trick or another, plotting some mischief with one of his siblings.

when he gets to hogwarts and meets the other marauders, he's the one with that trickster experience, like actually who would the others have been pranking before hogwarts yk...... so i like to think that maybe pete was the one who set them off on their mischief and mayhem path, bc he loves having co-conspirators when he plays his silly little tricks on people. (also mil and i've decided that he and peeves got along swimmingly, and that pete was the one to convince the marauders to go into the forbidden forest the first time, and that he was very good at finding hidden corridors and rooms x)

but. at the end of the day. our peter is always more loyal to himself than to anyone else. he enjoys being a part of a group, and really it's all he's ever known (w his siblings, and then the marauders, and then later the death eaters) but when all is said and done, he's always going to put himself first and do what would best serve him.

and we don't think his betrayal of his friends was some huge premeditated thing. it's this kinda spur of the moment, whimsical, childlike impulsivity. and he sees a chance to get in w this new group - a group that's clearly powerful, and let's face it defo winning the war at that point - and be a part of Something and prove a point and Show Them All and he doesn't really fully think through what his actions mean....... which ofc leaves so much beautiful, interesting room for regret!!!!!

like. telling voldemort the potter's address is such an abstract kind of thing. he's not the one physically murdering them. so i think the realisation of what's he's done and what he's lost wouldn't really sink in until after he's cut off a finger and framed sirius and run away to live as a rat. direct quote from mil bc i think it's perfect: he comes down from the high of having won and he doesn't quite know what he's won but he doesn't have anyone to tell, anyone who will pat him on the back and ruffle his hair.

stage w no audience. yk the vibe. he’s won, he's proved Something, but there's nobody left to celebrate w him. he's lost something incredibly vital to him, the best years of his life. he hasn't got a Group anymore... and that's ultimately a part of why he eventually goes to bring voldemort back bc that's the only group he has left after everything. even if mil and i decided that at least one of his siblings should still be alive :)

also, before he brings back voldemort, his stay w the weasleys. a very similar vibe to the pettigrew household growing up and peter chooses to stay there w them for twelve years. bc it's comfortable and painful and maybe a form of denial or punishment or desperate longing for something that has long slipped away.......

anyway, i've only known him for two days but he is infinitely precious to me :))

thoughts on the avemuji girls?

I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE FREAKSSSSSSSSSS

mortis and sakiko are my top faves... i like mutsumi and hatsune/uika as well, but i'm so mortis and sakipilled lol

Sakiko really hits on a lot of the same things that make Ai so compelling to me - the dehumanization that comes with being an abused person in a position of superficial privilege where your supposed wealth of opportunities are in total inverse to your actual happiness or ability to affect meaningful change in your life. AveMuji in general is really honed in on the horror of being a child at the mercy of the institution of 'family' (as I've talked about before), both of blood and of choice, & the way Sakiko as a character interacts with that and how her arc is shaped around it is sooooo juicy to me. Actually, it's funny that I made the comparison just off the back of The Horrors but now I'm thinking about it, the way Tomori and some of the other girls talk about CRYCHIC-era Saki is very Ai-coded in the way they gush about her warmth and light... what I wouldn't pay to put those two girls in a room together and let them talk.

Mortis is probably my #1 fave for much less complicated reasons of. i honestly can't even explain what it is, she just activates this maternal cuteness aggression inside of me. I want to take her to Burger King so she can get a little crown and throw fries at Sakiko's head. I think part of it is that I really love characters who have that kind of, like... reactive, childish aggression to them, trying extremely hard to be 'adult' and capable but lashing out in destructive and immature ways bc they are ultimately still just kids at the end of the day. Ryoko Shinonome from 13 Sentinels and Rika Kawai from Wonder Egg Priority are characters who scratch this same itch for me, even if they're very different characters on the surface & I think the three of them orbit a shared theme of like... being a child who was failed by adults and is now forced to try and parent yourself in their absence kind of thing. Obviously this is much more complicated with Mortis because that self-imposed duty of care is externalized onto Mutsumi but what in AveMuji ISN'T complicated.................

side note btw. did you know they turned her little doll form into a marketable plushie.

Like I said tho I do also love Mutsumi!!! She touches on a lot of the same things Sakiko does that I find so compelling, especially with regards to familial abuse. I also think AveMuji (and MyGo ofc but I rewatched avemuji more recently so it's fresher in my head) does a really good job of getting you into Mutsumi's headspace when it comes to like, difficulty with communication - from other characters' perspectives, the way Mutsumi fumbles is probably super frustrating and inexplicable but getting us so deep into her head makes you really understand all the build up to these supposed slips of the tongue. In general the AveMyGO branch of Bandori is really good at these sorts of multi-faceted failures of communication and connection in a way I find soooooooo compelling.

Hatsune is another character who hits me in the Hoshino Ai centers of my brain LOL. She really is one of those characters who's kind of like... masks all the way down, so to speak. Even when she's finally cracking her heart open and holding the audience hostage to make them understand her, she can only do it by means of this one woman gothic soliloquy. Even in the privacy of her own mind, Hatsune can only express herself through performance. Ough there's so much I could say about her but I just find the ways in which AveMuji respects her enough to let her be ugly and selfish while also deeply empathizing with her pain but also being willing to hold her accountable for improving herself to be soooo satisfying.

I don't have a ton to say about Nyamu or Umiri unforch...! I'm sure there's side material that expands on them a bit more bc there's oceans of AveMuji concert & expanded material I haven't properly dove into yet but with my frame of reference mostly just being the show, there's not a ton for me to go off yet. I do like them both, tho! I think the basic ideas that make up their characters are good and their arcs are conveyed well enough, they just didn't have a ton of material for me to chew on and really get brainrotted about.

I think it's really funny that Nyamu starts off the show seeming like she's going to be the most antagonistic out of the girls but by the time we're seven episodes deep, she's like the only reasonable person in the entire show. Once again, the rest of the cast is such a freakshow that the YouTuber is the only normal person here............. i want to see a nyamuchi/mem-cho collab vid.............................

well he released a documentary that shoehorned in a valentino rivalry segment like two years ago, so going to go with 'not over it'

I mean, tbh, I do get the denial that it's still affecting him because there's not really a RIGHT answer to those questions. what exactly are you supposed to say? he is... perhaps a little overly diplomatic in dealing with that line of questioning, but that's just kind of his approach to everything these days. it's only in an extremely controlled environment like a self-produced documentary where he's going to at least somewhat open up. which was his way of Getting Out The Message about what he wants his current line on the conflict to be. obviously he said at the time that he simply couldn't avoid talking about sepang 2015 in that thing but like... of course he could lol. it's a self-produced documentary about his injury comeback. it's not about his entire career, it's not even about his premier class title winning campaigns - given I've heard tell of another rival who secured three runner-up finishes to marc and somehow completely avoided any mention. you can tell that the actual thought process behind the documentary was injury stuff + valentino rivalry and then it just had some extra jorge and dani stuff... tacked on

anyway idk of course he's not over it, I know there's some people that take marc at face value when he says this stuff but like... obviously don't do that?? it's going to be a mix for marc, right - there's hurt, there's regret. all this stuff marc still associates with valentino, this childhood idolisation and memories of a positive relationship with his erstwhile hero. to some extent, this isn't even about valentino per se... valentino is symbolic of lost childhood innocence, nostalgia for a time he can never return to. it comes back to marc's whole injury narrative, right - the fear of being irrevocably broken, of having lost something that will remain lost. there was a time where things were simpler, but we can never return. marc still just has a lot of memories associated with valentino, whether that's supporting him as a child or competing against him in the early years. those tussles in 2013-14 will have been super formative to marc and also a time of uncomplicated joy, when marc won a lot and everybody loved him and things were easier and everything hurt less. that's why when acosta shows up, marc is constantly comparing it to his own experiences fighting the og aliens. it's mourning a lost youth, this bittersweet exercise in nostalgic yearning

but also obviously, there's anger. idk marc isn't ever going to say this so ofc you just sort of have to play it by ear but... come on. marc is an athlete. you use whatever you can to motivate you. think back to misano 2019, where marc made a nuisance of himself all weekend until valentino eventually gave him an excuse to fire himself up... there's plenty of rage and spite in these misano performances over the years, often channelled deliberately towards the cause. it's this amalgamation of negative emotion towards valentino, towards italian fans, towards the press, towards the concept of italy... towards academy riders, obviously. the transitive properties of feuding. it's all well and good for marc to dismiss bez, but would he have reacted in quite the same way with quite the same lasting coldness if it hadn't been a valentino protege to provoke him? and now that he needs to beat pecco, ultimately it is smart and the correct thing to do to draw on any source of motivation possible - including pecco's link to his old enemy. marc feels wronged by valentino, he feels wronged by everyone associated with valentino, deeply so. this is how you get him talking about how he was 'only 22' during sepang 2015 - it's not just an open wound, it's a grievance. he's got many bones to pick. but ultimately his number one goal is winning, so the main practical purpose of these bones is to give himself more motivation. just an extra reason to beat this guy, right. it's also worth pointing out to some extent he has to care because he's still semi-regularly being asked about the feud - the whole thing is very much part of his story in the sport, it's very closely associated with him, so to some extent he just can't avoid it. he's not over it because he's not being allowed to be over it

that being said, do I think marc is motivated by wanting to match/beat valentino's records... not really. I think marc has always been different from valentino in that he doesn't need a story to motivate himself. valentino was always the more restless one, the one who couldn't handle sustained dominance, who needed to find SOMETHING to keep himself interested. marc is far, far better at just winning for winning's sake. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but if you said the words 'four year contract' to valentino, he'd jump out of a window. valentino fled honda when he was winning, marc retreated when he was losing. so like... ultimately marc isn't massively motivated by beating valentino's title count because he doesn't NEED to be. he wants to win! it's that simple! and he's also been on a personal journey that's really only tangentially related to valentino. he's been through hell and back over the last few years, he's gone through some pretty rough patches and experienced a fair bit of hopelessness - and now he has the chance to complete the comeback and win another few titles. that's immensely personally satisfying in a way that goes beyond any grudge. he wants to win because he's always wanted to win, he wants to win because of all it's cost him to get back to winning, simple as

ultimately, I do think he wants to beat valentino's title count - but it's more something that makes it... extra satisfying, rather than something that constitutes a primary source of motivation. sure, there is a bit of spite mixed in there, so I guess in that sense it's a qualified agreement with the ask. to some extent, his desire to be champion once again will be a little bit coloured by knowing he'll be equalling valentino's title count. he's been chasing valentino his entire career, in a way. his emergence and rise as a top level rider was intimately tied to his status as the next valentino; from early on, people were speculating about whether he'd manage to beat valentino's records. motogp riders love the word 'reference' for some reason - and valentino really is the ultimate reference. marc has spent a career orienting himself around that reference in one way or another. so inevitably, all of that baggage and history and spite does colour that desire. to some extent, the same principle as with valentino applies in reverse - I'm wary of ascribing too many of marc's motivations to valentino, even though the main difference here is that marc is still an active rider and has good cause to be using whatever he can as extra fuel. so it does matter, but it's not the main thing that matters. some media outlets and take-havers in the motogp community frame marc's title quest as solely being about beating valentino, which is obviously very silly. the grudge isn't irrelevant, but it's far from being the main factor either. in my opinion, anyway

what are ur fave fanfic characterisations of penelope if any??

Okay, so like, in general. I'm so desperate for fics that are about Pen in general. I'll take really any sort of flawed and deeply characterized silly lady. give me headcanons about her that have nothing to do with Odysseus or Helen or Telemachus and I'll bake you cookies. (favorite color, mannerisms she has, phobias, scars, etc.)

So like, I'll take anything that just...really goes full throttle on HER characterization. like if she's quiet and thoughtful or the Chaos gremlin I see her as, as long as people show care and headcanons and go to delve into who she is as well, I'm happy. To me, I see OdyPen as "likeminded" and therefore, anything he would do? Yeah, she'd do it too. Both are smart and stupid at the same time. That's like, my ultimate fave characterization for her. I love my chaotic lil gremlin Water Woman and her equally chaotic gremlin husband.

That's my favorite. Hands down. I think it's so much fun when characterizing them both is to test out if "hey, would the other do that too?" while writing and working to be consistent with that :3

But as I said, I'm just desperate for Penelope stuff in general. and thankfully, just like Odysseus, (likeminded) she is also a "woman of many twists and turns" lol. There's a lot of different ways she is in the Odyssey. :) like it's honestly become my goal to have more things about Penelope in my writing than Odysseus to make up for others just...ignoring her. ;~;

Anything that has Penelope as "more than wife and mother" is fantastic. I've seen way too many basically place Penelope as this "Oh she's what Odysseus longs for!" and never go into WHY and/or about HER. Like, Odysseus loves his wife, absolutely fucking adores her. But there's a REASON why and that's because she's FUN.

Like fics with her being someone outside of what she is for Odysseus. as while I like OdyPen. I fucking adore it actually. I really hate seeing her as a prop for him. I mean my two fics that are up now are both OdyPen but I almost like, have Odysseus be the "secondary character" or like, "it's not about him. it may be his pov for some but It's about Pen, she's sick and stubborn and we're trying to take care of her". And even then, like with the sickfic, I wanted to show her being messy and imperfect and a persoonnnnn

I've found a few fics that have fun with her, but not as many as I'd like ;~; (those who do I love you)

and I mean anything. like, about her past, her siblings and parents, her feelings about motherhood, about Anticlea and Laertes, etc.

like an example I can think of, is when someone mentioned to me that their Penelope "always felt like she was in Helen's shadow". WHICH FANTASTIC!!! GREAT START!!!

But go into why and how exactly that takes form. :)

Is she grateful for Helen taking a lot of the attention? Feeling safer or a bit shyer and wishing to be left alone? Is she a bit scared with what happened with Theseus and Helen happening to her? Was she planning to be a Priestess of Athena before she married Odysseus?

Or was it something that bothered her? Made her feel "lesser than"? Did she resent Helen because of it? Did she WANT to be in the spotlight more? was she angry? etc.

lots of fics about her comforting Odysseus. understandable. but what about her? Does she wake up with nightmares? Thinking it was all a dream? Fear of the Suitors? etc. They are partners and will take care of each other.

stuff like that? What about cute moments of her being a mom to Telemachus? her and Anticlea weaving? etc. etc.

I always get a bit saddened when I'll talk to folks and they don't ever wanna go DEEPER about Penelope, but will about...practically anyone else... :') idk, it feels a bit like loving a doll that nobody else wants to play with? (some ofc, and I love you all who do.) and idk, gets a bit lonely playing with her and no one else wants to.

I mean, we have near nothing on Polites. (one line in the Odyssey) and people still have his past alllllllllll laid out. :/

I feel like some folks like "#odypen" more than they like "#Penelope" :/

Lil vent but I really don't like when fics (memes are fine. memes are fun) have this sort of "Penelope with her manchild husband Odysseus on a leash to keep him from being stupid" AKA the very same man who lead armies, is a king, came up with the Trojan Horse, etc. apparently needs his wife to act more like his mother and be like "nuh uh, no no Odysseus. No crime. Don't do that." as if she wasn't praying that the suitors died everyday and wasn't scamming people in the Odyssey

So I’ve worked out my theory based off everything we know, plus the stills.

My theory is that somehow the subject of an open relationship will come up. I know this has been suggested, and IMO, maybe it’s the person at the cafe (because I think we’re assuming that picture we saw weeks ago of Oliver in his work clothes at a cafe is this ep?). Maybe they know Tommy, maybe they’re just trying to flirt with Buck or Tommy, maybe a number is offered and they don’t know either of them.

And I know people complain that they don’t want communication to be the issue bc BuckTommy are so good at it, but hear me out. Would it ultimately be a communication issue (in some form)? Yes. But also.

In my head, he (Evan) gets upset at the suggestion that this person may (or may not) have had something with Tommy (or wants it, or some variation of that), which led to him assuming that Tommy either a)has been seeing other people the whole time, and/or b) wants to. So ofc Buck goes to his sister in a tizzy bc he has strong feelings for this man he’s been with for six months and things have been great and Bobby is finally back and blah blah blah, but he’s not sure he can do this whole thing of an open relationship if that’s what Tommy wants.

Queue Josh walking by and being like “open relationship? Tommy Kinard? Wait, you might be available soon? And/or Tommy” at which point Maddie explains what’s going on to Josh and he’s like “oh you sweet little baby bi.”

So then we get a talking to about how Tommy likely wanted Evan to have the option bc (multiple reasons but I’m going with the obvs stereotype: some bisexual people want access to both men and women regardless of relationship status). And Buck is like “but I’m very secure in my relationship so that must mean he wants to see other people.

Again, queue Josh laughing. “No no, Buck. Tommy Kinard is so beautiful in the WeHo community that any time he’s been single, a bat signal goes up. Before you, that man was a regular at the gay bars, especially during theme nights. I’m assuming you’ve heard about the karaoke trivia? He was the winner three years running.”

“Your point?”

“My point is he maybe shows up once a month now and doesn’t even participate because he’s off the market. Anytime I see him out now, it’s one drink and he’s gone because he’s got somewhere else to be.”

At which point we get the explanation from Maddie about him definitely being sure of his feelings this time, and that he should probably tell Tommy.

So then we get the loft scene, Evan explaining how he talked to them and Tommy’s lil smiley face being all “I never talked to anyone else, I just wanted you to have an open line of communication if that was something you were interested in.”

We get something akin to “I’m not interested in anything but you. Maddie said after our first date that I wasn’t sure of my feelings, but I’ve had a lot of clarity on that over the past few months, and I think I panicked because the last time I said this, if wasn’t from an honest place.”

And then we get “said what”

“I love you.”

Kiss. End scene. Roll credits.

(Okay maybe the end is more wishful thinking but I think the theory has legs!)

so the amnesia piece was written very much inspired by the movie the vow (2012) featuring channing tatum and rachel mcadams. they say it's based on a true story but anw the girl loses her memory and re-falls in love with him again. i think it really echoes the idea of like. if you could redo ur life again, would you make the same choices? that sort of thing. as well as the idea of fated lovers, or being always meant to fall in love with someone

i didn't really think too much about how she got that way at the time tbh HAHA but i imagine it is similar to the movie where it's a car accident to an induced coma to waking up and not remembering the last few years of their life

and i really love the beauty of re-learning someone. like it's a unique scenario in which one person is already wholeheartedly in love with you/reader and knows you intimately, and you don't know sae at all. in a situation like that you get this vulnerability with sae that took months to get to when you both initially got together. he is changed from having met you, through loving you.

there is the angst of 'does he love who i am now? can he love who i am and not who i used to be? is he focused on the version of me that used to be here before the accident?' but ultimately you both find the love is deeper than that yk. like loving someone at the core of their being and not because of circumstances. and also loving them through all their changes

so yes this is a much less heavy story compared to the movie in my mind bc in the movie the girl is like. her life completely changed after meeting him and now she doesn't remember having met him at all, like she cut off her parents etc.. whereas reader's personality is ofc left open for reader-insert sake

i also see reader like re-meeting all their mutual friends again, like anri and i imagine them being friends w bachira and isagi. so i imagine it's also like re-falling in love with your current life as well and not just sae yk like all the hobbies and things you love now. you might not know sae but your hands hold him just like they used to, cup his face with such tenderness that makes him feel so open, makes him want to run and yet he doesn't because it hurts more to leave you. you don't remember him but your body does, and your heart does, you feel safe with him. (comes from the idea of capgras syndrome: a psychiatric disorder where you look at someone you know and think they are an imposter. however, when you hear their voice on the phone without looking at their face, you do trust it's really them. from this it's possible to theorize that your emotions and your brain are registering different things).

sorry this got so long and rambly HAHA but tldr it's like just a simple relearning, i didn't imagine anything crazy for it in the end

i had another more emotional version of this story where after the accident reader like. dresses differently (how she used to dress, which he's only seen in photos) and drinks and gets cross faded and sae approaches her as she's sitting on the rooftop. and sae has to like pull her back from this version of herself that she already healed from before she even met him. she opens her closet and finds it full of soft materials and has to open a box in the back to get to her hard jeans and leather jackets etc.. it's a bit too stereotypical which is why i didn't end up writing it and also bc wearing all black and having bad habits doesn't necessarily make you mentally ill LMAO like the goal is not necessarily to get out that, i didn't want to push a puritan rhetoric. but that takes from my own life experiences like wearing that sort of purposefully uncomfortable clothing was another form of self-hatred for me. bc of that if i wrote it i'd likely make the fic non-rbable and tumblr-only (not ao3).

so yeah u can just imagine it as a sweet story instead if that is ur preference!!!
