the way Percy's friend group is literally -
4 monsters:
half-goat who's technically twice his age
one-eyed brother who's technically half his age
surprisingly lovely giant dog from hell
strangely devoted flying horse who can talk
and an odd assortment of people:
his mama
immortal lesbian who was a tree for a few years
scary buff girl who bullied him a little
autistic kid who radiates death and had a crush on him
nicest demigod ever whom he had a crush on before he... died
allegedly normal girl who now randomly tells the future
autistic girl who tried her absolute hardest to hate him then promptly fell in love with him. now they're soulmates
goddess of hearth

Riordanverse characters who never interact in canon, yet I'm convinced they'd be best friends: A compiled list with explanations because I think about this way to often.
1) Georgina (Trials of Apollo) & Harley (Heroes of Olympus & Trials of Apollo)
There are four works in the Georgina & Harley tag on ao3, and all four have been written by me, that's how series I am about this friendship.
Firstly, I headcanon that the reason there's no year rounders during The Sun and The Star is because most of them decided to go to Waystation to attend school. Harley's eight in The Hidden Oracle and has already been at camp for at least a year and a half, minimum (as he's in the Hephaestus Cabin in The Lost Hero, and it's stated that no Hephaestus kid as come to camp in months before Leo), so why else would he all of a sudden not be a year rounder? He's certainly not staying to fight in the wars like some other demigods.
Now, back to Georgie and Harley. They're only a year apart, if that, and the other is probably the first person they've ever met close to their age, which would definitely spark friendship. Secondly, both of them have a sibling-like relationship with Leo (I almost started sobbing when Leo told Harley about how he was the one who helped him find his way back home in The Hidden Oracle, Leo and Harley are such an underrated sibling pair), which will bond them. And three, both are incredibly artistic and love building things. Just imagine Georgie and Harley drawing plans for the Waystation together? Adorable.
2) Kayla Knowles (Percy Jackson & Trials of Apollo) & Sadie Kane (Kane Chronicles)
They'd dye their hair together, chew bubblegum and eat lollypops, complain about their nerdy older brothers, and show off their skills to each other. They'd be an unstoppable duo.
3) Alex Fierro (Magnus Chase) & Lavinia Asimov (Trials of Apollo)
Queer kid with a designated color pallet, a non-common weapon, whom is incredibly artistic? You can't tell whether I'm talking about Alex or Lavinia (hint, it's both)
Match made in Elysium (or Valhalla in Alex's case). Lavinia would show Alex some simple tap steps, and Alex would show off her pottery skills, and teach some to Lavinia. Lavinia thinks Alex's garrote is the coolest thing ever, and Alex keeps petitioning for a manuballista fight in Valhalla. (Odin has not agreed yet, but Alex is not deterred in the slightest).
4) Kayla Knowles, Sadie Kane, Alex Fierro, & Lavinia Asimov
You're not surprised in the slightest, are you? These four make a deadly quartet of died hair, weapons, and bubblegum, and I adore them for it. As for why I did Kayla & Sadie and Lavinia & Alex seperately, it's because I think they'd be closest with their respectively friend pairing, but also they'd make a great friend group. I'm already in love.
5) Hazel Levesque (Heroes of Olympus & Trials of Apollo) & Butch Walker (Heroes of Olympus)
Intimidating son of a non-intimidating goddess and a non-intimidating daughter of an intimidating god. Also, they both adore horses, and I could totally see them hanging out in the Pegasus stables when Hazel's visiting Camp Half-Blood.
6) Nico di Angelo (Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, & The Sun and the Star) & Blanche (Chalice of the Gods)
The second Child of Hades/Pluto & Child of Iris friendship??? But seriously, these two would be besties. Both only ever dress in monochromatic clothing, and Blanche is literally known for her ghost stories at camp and Nico is the Ghost King? Blanche would beg Nico to help her out with her photography—the Hades Cabin is literally her aesthetic to the tee, and she loves photographing dead things. Nico would summon a skeleton so she could photograph it on dead grass Nico accidently killed.
And if they did joint ghost stories? All I'm saying is they could charge an admission fee and the amphitheatre would still be full. (The effects they can do with Blanche's, well blanching, power, and Nico's shadow manipulating would go insane)
7) Piper McLean (Heroes of Olympus & Trials of Apollo) and Silena Beauregard (Percy Jackson)
They would be that sibling pair at camp, and it's such a horror that we never got to experience it.
Silena would help Piper tap into her more feminine side, and show her that not all femininity is bad—which Piper has a lot of trauma revolving—and I think would help Piper come to terms with her feelings for Jason and her queerness a lot faster than it actually happened, because Silena would help her talk through it instead of bottling it up. (Besides, Silena knows all about crushing on boys and girls *cough* Beckendorf and Clarisse *cough*).
In turn, I think Piper would help Silena with her fighting skills and strength. Yes, Silena has Clarisse, but Clarisse is a hit hard and don't back down fighter, while Piper would be more patient, which is what Silena would need. Also, they both know what it's like to be manipulated and have to make choices about whether or not their friends and family will live or die, and that's a common ground for them both.
8) Nico di Angelo & Mitchell (Heroes of Olympus)
This is solely because of the fic, Gurrlfriend by Erikthonius on ao3. Honestly, if you've read that, you'd understand where I'm coming from. I don't have any other evidence besides that.
There will probably be more where this came from!

ANYWHOOZLE HERES A LIST OF ALL THE SHIPS THAT I LIKE(D) THAT I CAN THINK OF ATM!!
pollux
lou ellen blackstone (i prefer queer platonic partners for them but including anyway)
will solace (by himself or in a poly relationship with clovis AND nico)
jake mason (originated from one of my cosplayer friends apolloshalfblood who duets me as jake!!)

malcolm pace
dakota
octavian

sherman yang
nyssa barrera (originated from a fanfic by akheilos and delphin inc and inspired slightly by my cosplayer friend whatami.doing2!!)
alabaster c. torrington
piper mcclean (this was before she got together with shel so while i still like the ship, i feel cautious abt it just bc piper said she doesnt know what her sexuality is and since shes currently woth a woman, i dont want to disregard her potentially having a sexuality that woukd exclude clovis for one reason or another)
austin lake (originated from the artist baylx!!)
ethan nakamura (this is the most recent ship i got into actually! from a rlly good fic called even if you run away, you still see them in your dreams on a03 by mondtstadtlover6000)

my personal favorites (besides clovico) are niclovill, pollovis, and (atm) ethan x clovis!!
and for reference, i hc clovis as somewhere between bi and pan but not rlly caring abt labels. also i hc him as being nonbinary/gender fluid if that adds anything to these ships lolol)

───────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────────
The storm churned into a giant hurricane. Funnel clouds inched closer towards the skywalk like a predator trying to capture their prey. All of the kids were screaming and ran to the building. The winds snatched their notebooks, hats, jackets and backpacks. Jason skidded across the slick floor. Leo lost his balance and almost toppled from the railing but Jason grabbed his jacket and pulled him closer.
“Thanks, man!” Leo yelled.
Jason grinned. “No problem”
“Go, go, go!” said Coach Hedge.
Piper and Dylan were holding the doors open, herding the other kids to safety. Piper's snowboarding jacket was flapping through the dangerous winds, her dark hair kept hitting her face as she used all of her strength to keep the glass doors in place. Jason thought that she felt cold and tired but she still looked so calm and confident- telling them that they´ll be okay, encouraging everyone to keep going.
Jason, Leo and Coach Hedge all ran for the exit, but it felt like running through a snowstorm, because the winds kept pulling them back. Piper and Dylan had almost everyone into the building when they lost their grips on the handles. The doors slammed shut, trapping the remaining people on the skywalk. Piper tugged at the handles while the kids inside banged on the glass, but the door seemed to be stuck.
“Dylan, help me open this!” Piper shouted.
But Dylan just stood there, looking all too calm in this situation, grinning like an idiot. His Cowboys jersey flapped in the wind and his hands were in his pockets, like he was suddenly enjoying the windstorm.
“Sorry, dollface,” he said. “I'm done helping.”
He flicked his wrist, and Piper flew backwards, slamming into the doors and sliding to the skywalk deck.
“Piper!” Jason tried to charge at Dylan, but the wind was against him, and Coach Hedge pushed him back.
“Coach,” Jason said, “let me go!”
“Jason, Leo, stay behind me.” the coach ordered. “This is my fight to deal with. I should've known he was our monster.”
“What?” Leo demanded. A rouge worksheet slapped him in the face, but he shooed it away “What monster? What's going on?!”
The coach's cap blew off, and sticking out of his curly brown hair were two strange bumps– like the knots cartoon characters get when they get bonked on the head for comedic effect. Coach Hedge held up his baseball bat– but it wasn't a regular bat anymore. For some reason it changed into a twisty shaped tree-branch club, with twigs and leaves still attached to it.
Dylan gave him that psycho happy smile you would usually see on the Joker. “Come on, Coach. Let the kid fight, after all you are getting too old for this line of work. Isn't that why you were sent here to this pathetic school? I've been on your team for an entire season and yet you never noticed. You're losing your nose grandpa.”
The Coach made an angry sound, like a bleating goat. “That's it! You're going down!”
“You think you could protect three half-bloods at once, old man? You really are losing it.” Dylan laughed. “Good luck.”
Dylan pointed at Leo, and a funnel cloud appeared around the Latino. Leo flew off the skywalk like he'd been tossed around like a toy. Somehow he managed to twist in midair, and slammed sideways into the canyon wall. He skidded, clawing furiously for any handhold to grab on. Finally he grabbed a thin ledge about fifty feet below the skywalk and hung there with only his fingertips keeping him from falling into certain death.
“Help!” he yelled up at them. “Throw down a rope, bungee cord, anything! Just help!”
“Aphòdeuma.” Coach cursed, and tossed Jaosn his club. “I don't know where you came from, but I hope you're good. Keep that thing busy.” –he stabbed his thumb at Dylan– “while I go and rescue Leo.”
“How are you gonna do that?” Jason demanded, baring his teeth. “Can you fly or something?”
“Not fly. Climb.” Hedge kicked off his shoes, and Jason almost had a cardiac arrest right there. The coach didn't have any feet. He had hooves– goat hooves. Which meant those things sticking out from his head were not knots, Jason realized, but were horns. Suddenly the strange noise coach made earlier makes more sense.
“You're a faun,” Jason said.
“Satyr!” Hedge snapped. “Fauns are roman, but we'll talk later.”
Hedge leaped over the railing. He sailed towards the canyon wall and hit hooves first. He bounded down with almost impossible agility, finding footholes no bigger than postcard stamps and dodging the whirlwinds that seemed to attack him at every corner while he was making his way down to Leo.
“Aw! Isn't that cute?” Dylan turned his attention to Jason. “Now it's your turn, boy.”
Jason threw the club at him. It wasn't the smartest idea since the winds were too strong but the club flew past Dylan, who while attempting to dodge it, ended up getting hit in the head and knocked him to the ground. Piper, who wasn´t as dazed as she appeared to be, reached out to grab the nearby club, but before she could use it on Dylan, he stood up. Blood– golden blood– trickled from his head.
“Nice try, boy,” He glared at Jason. “But you gotta do much better to take someone like me down.”
The skywalk shuddered. Hairline fractures appeared in the glass. Inside the museum, the kids stopped banging on the door and slowly backed away in fear, watching their classmates possibly die from the storm.
Dylan’s body began to dissolve into smoke, as if his modules were coming undone. He had the same face, and the same brilliant and bright smile, but his whole form was suddenly made of swirling black vapor, electric sparks were seen coming from his eyes. He sprouted large black smoky wings from his back and rose above the skywalk. If angels were evil, this is what they would look like.
“You're a ventus,” Jason said, though he has no idea why he knows words like that. “A storm spirit.”
Dylan’s laugh sounded like a tornado tearing off a roof. “Clever kid, though the correct term is actually ‘Anemoi Thuellai’. I'm so glad I waited, little demi-god. Leo and Piper I've known about for a while now and with their protection spells worn off, I could've easily killed them! But my mistress told me a very powerful demi-god should arrive soon- a special one. She said she would reward me greatly once I kill you and now... it's time.”
Two more funnel clouds stood on the opposite sides of Dylan and turned into venti- ghostly men with smoky wings and eyes that flicker with lighting. Piper stayed down, pretending to be unconscious, her hand gripping tightly on the club. Her face was pale with fear, but she gave Jason a determined look, and he immediately understood the message: Keep their attention. I'll hit them from behind.
Cute, smart, and violent. Jason wished he could remember their times as a couple right now. He clenched his fists and got ready to change, but he never got a chance. Dylan raised his hand to the sky, arcs of electricity running through his fingers, and blasted Jason in the chest.
Bang! Jason found himself lying on his back. His mouth tastes of burning aluminum foil and bits of copper. He lifted his head and saw that his clothes were smoking. The lightning bolt had gone straight through his body and blew off his left. His toes were black with soot but besides that, Jason was okay.
The storm spirits were laughing like a pack of hyenas and the winds raged on as usual. Piper was screaming defiantly, but everything sounded tiny and far away.
Out of the corner of his eye, Jason saw Coach climbing back to the skywalk with Leo on his back and Piper was back on her feet, swinging the club in a desperate attempt of a fight against the other two storm spirits. The two were toying around with her, with the club going through their bodies like they weren’t there. And Dylan the big prick was now transformed into a dark and winged tornado with freaky eyes, loomed over Jason's body.
“Stop.” Jason croaked. He rose unsteady onto his feet, and he wasn't sure who looked more shocked: him, or the storm spirits.
“How in Hades are you alive?!” Dylan’s form flicked. “That was enough lightning to kill twenty men!”
“My turn,” Jason said.
Jason lunged at Dylan’s arm, his teeth biting down on his wrist and ripped it from his body. Surprisingly, he was able to do so and the hand dissolved. Dylan screamed out in pain, his voice cracking as thunder crackled in the background.
“What the fuck?! Do you know how long it takes to reform it!?” Dylan shouted, holding his left wrist as more blood spilled out, backing away. But Jason didn’t stop at just that, throwing an upper right hook at Dylan’s face, punching him all the way to the other side of the skywalk. The spirit groaned in pain, his body flickering like a lightshow. Jason didn't know why he was acting this way but no one messes with his friends and gets away with it.
Jason smiles at the bloodied Dylan. “Checkmate.”
Dylan's face looked so frustrated, actual smoke came out of his head. He looked at his two comrades and yelled, “Well? Go kill him!”
The other spirits weren't a fan of that order, especially since they don't like having their arms or other parts of their body ripped off, but they charged at Jason, their fingers crackling with more electricity.
Meanwhile, Jason reached into his pocket and pulled out the gold coin. He let his instincts take over him, flipping it high into the air and like the vision from before, it transformed into a sharp double edged golden sword. He caught it in his palm, and suddenly he felt something familiar running through his veins, a sense of thrill. The ridged grip fits perfectly in his hand.
Jason swung at the first spirit, the blade went through it as well but instead the spirit disintegrated into gold powder. The second spirit shot three bolts of lightning at the boy but Jason's sword absorbed the charge. Jason stepped in- one quick and simple thrust, and the second spirit was taken down, also dissolving into gold powder like the previous one.
Dylan wailed in outrage. He looked around as if he was waiting for his comrades to reform, but their gold dust still remained, being blown away in the wind. “That's impossible!” He glared at Jason, more lightning crackling his eyes. “Who are you, half-bloo- no, what are you?”
Piper was so stunned by Jason's gruesome fighting style that she almost dropped the club. “Jason, how…?”
Then Coach Hedge leaped back onto the glass bridge, dropping Leo like a bag of flour and holding up his fists.
“Spirits, fear me!” Hedge bellowed, waving around his short arms. Then he takes a look around to find only Dylan still there.
“Damn it, boy!” he snapped at Jason. “Why couldn't you leave some for me! I like a good challenge!” Jason could awkwardly shrug his shoulders and said a quick “Sorry coach!”
Leo got to his feet, breathing hard. He looked completely humiliated and exhausted, his scarred hands were bloody from clawing at the rocks. “Yo, Coach Supergoat, whatever you are! I love that energy but I just FELL DOWN INTO THE FUCKING GRAND CANYON! Stop asking for more challenges!”
Before Coach could say anything else, he found himself floating upwards in the sky.
"Hey! Put me down, you glorified cloud!” Hedge hollered as he thrashed in the air, trying to break free of the spirits grasp but then right above them, the storm exploded into a full-force gale. Cracks keep expanding across the skywalk and sheets of rain poured down them. Jason had to crouch down to keep his balance steady.
Soon, a massive hole opened in the clouds- a swirling vortex of black and silver.
“The mistress calls for me!” Dylan shouted with glee as the molecules created a new hand for him. “And I cannot return empty handed so..”
Dylan lifted his hand up and Coach Hedge disappeared in the vortex.
“No!!” Piper and Leo both shouted, tears fell from their eyes.
“Ahh, that's much better. Glad that nuisance is gone, now… which demi-god should I pick?” He sized up each of the demi-gods, Leo hands turned fists as he glared down at the monster, Piper was still holding the club (tree branch?) ready to swing it and Jason held up his golden sword, barring his blood stained teeth.
“Let's see.. eeny, meeny, miny, you!”
Pointing at Piper, the wind picked her up but both Leo and Jason grabbed onto her arms. The wind keeps trying to make the two lose their grips on their friend but neither of them did not let go. Jason is not losing another one of his friends again. He and Leo pulled against Dylan´s winds, like a game of tug-a-war where instead of regular rope, Piper was the rope itself.
“Do not let go!” Piper shouted at the two, His body felt like he was being puppeteered by something powerful- making him comply with Piper´s order, that same pink mist Jason saw earlier was now coming out of her mouth.
“There's no way we're going to do that!” Jason yelled, with Leo nodding. “We got you!”
The two demi-gods tried to pull Piper back down to the ground but the winds were too strong for them to win against it. Dylan looked all too pleased, laughing maniacally by the scene right in front that he didn't hear the sounds of wings coming towards him. Suddenly, the wind died down, Piper screams turned into a strangled gasp and she fell right into Jason's arms.
“You okay?” Jason asked Piper, her face flushed with embarrassment.
“Yep! All good! You can put me down now.” Now flustered as well, Jason let her down.
Just then, a massive crow around 10 ft tall that seemed to be made of shadows swooped down at the venti and started attacking him. Dylan flew backwards, his back hitting the railing. The crow stood in front of the demi-gods, shielding them from harm with their wings and started speaking..?
“You shall not harm these demi-gods, Anemoi Thuellai. Leave in peace and I won't fight you.”
Dylan was enraged by this newcomer coming out of nowhere and ruining everything. "How dare you speak to me that way!" He screamed. "I should strike you down right now for that."
Seeing the spirits fumbling with anger, the crow muttered an incantation, “Σκηνίδιο Φωτεινὸν Ἀσφαλὲς” and a glowing blue circle resembling a starry night appeared above the trio, creating a barrier around them. The crow stood then looked at the teens and said,
“Don't worry, I'll deal with him.”
Dylan stood back up and conjured electricity from his hands, the storm rages on in the background as he glared at the giant bird.
“I'd like to see you try."
Inside the protective barrier, Leo squinted his eyes, trying to see what's happening outside. "Guys.." Leo said. "Do you see this too?"
"That there's a giant talking crow protecting us?...Yeah I see it." Piper replied, looking surprised and a bit star struck.
A chill went down Jason’s spine as he stared at the mysterious crow. He didn't know why he felt this way but Jason was very sure this giant crow was familiar, like he saw them from somewhere but he had no clue where.
Meanwhile, the giant crow and the wind spirit was having some sort of cowboy stand down, waiting for the other to start the fight. Dylan shot first, blasting two powerful volts at the bird but the bird disappeared out of nowhere avoiding the lightning.
Before the storm spirit could react, the crow reappeared from the behind and pouched on Dylan, pushing to the ground but he scrambled his molecules to escape from the sharp talons. Dylan then caused the storm to rain in the birds direction. Looking annoyed, the bird gave him a piece of its mind. "FUCK OFF!!" Before swiping again at the crazy hockey wind spirit, who definitely didn't like that at all. Using all of his last energy, Dylan created a group of wind spirits. They all look similar to the other spirits Jason fought earlier but they were much smaller in size compared to Dylan himself.
“Well, try and fight your way through my army!" He shouted, pointing at the shadow crow. "Attack!!"
The newborn tornado looking spirits start charging forward at the crow, who used their wings to blow most of the monsters away but the few stragglers shot lightning from the sky and targeted right at the bord. Dodging the enemies lightning bolts, the crow swiped right at them using her talons making them wince back and grabbed them with her beak, ripping them apart and turning them into gold dust.
“Go, magic bird, go!” Leo cheered.
“Wait, why are you cheering?” Jason asked.
“Well since the giant bird is the only thing protecting us from certain death, I thought you know we could support them on the sidelines!” He explained, resuming his cheering. Both Piper and Jason shared a look with the other before cheering alongside the latino, making the bird confused and look behind their back.
Seeing that the bird's guard was lowered, one of the pesky spirits shot two more lighting bolts right at them. The first one flew out of the way, but the second bolt grazed part of their wings. They cried out in pain from the lightning bolt, the sound was so loud it echoed into the Grand Canyon. With their grazed wing injured they couldn't fly that well, causing her to land on the skywalk and transform into an African American goth girl dressed in all black, white and purple. She looked like she was around their age, maybe a bit older. Her curls blew in the wind as she stared down the wind spirit army, wincing in pain. Her right arm was slightly smoking with a big pink scar on it. It looked like it hurt her badly. The leader of the wind spirits gave her a mean smirk at the girl, who looked a bit exhausted from the fight.
“Aw, too tired to keep fighting?” Dylan taunted. “And here I thought you would’ve put up a better fight, the goat was much more entertaining than you.”
But the girl didn't seem to be phased by the insult. Instead, she looked calm, too calm. “I'm not done yet. I just wanted to do something first.” she said, removing two of her sparkly bracelets, confusing everyone.
He sneered. “Oh yeah? Like what?”
“Oh, nothing… just this.” The bracelets she held in her hands transformed into glowing opalescent battle quoits, tossing them into two different directions. Jason thought the rings would've missed the targets or they were part of a distraction but instead, the rings started floating in midair, leaving a trail of stardust and went straight at the spirit army. All of them were sliced away and turned into golden dust in mere seconds. The rings flew back at the girl, who caught them with ease. She smirked at Dylan, whose eyes widened like he realized something and backed away in fear.
He pointed at the girl, whispering, "D-don’t tell me y-your..”
The girl smiled. "Yeah, I am. Now, leave this place and don”t you dare come near them again." She growled, standing in a defensive pose, still gripping on her battle quoit. "Unless you still want a fight, ‘cause I'm ready for round 2, prick.”
Dylan hissed at the girl, but Jason could see the newfound fear in his eyes. He turned his attention to the others. “You all have no idea how many enemies you’ve awakened, you half-bloods. My mistress will destroy everyone and everything that dares to stand in her way. You cannot win this war.”
"Cut that creepy bullshit and tell us why you're doing this!" Leo asked, banging on the barrier. "What the hell is going on and why are you bothering us!?"
"Wouldn't you like to know, demi-god?" He retorted, before floating into the spinning vortex. Soon, the massive vortex in the clouds started closing in and disappeared into thin air, like that freakish event never happened. Afterwards, the magic barrier faded away and the girl sighed in exhaustion and relief. “Thank the gods it's over." She said, stretching her arms. “These wind spirits have been causing trouble recently."
“That was so awesome!" Leo said, as he rushed over to the girl once the barrier was removed. “You just came out of nowhere and just obliterated those monsters in like, two seconds like it was nothing with just your magic bracelets! Also the fact that you could just? Transform into a giant ass bird made of shadows and make it look so effortless!!”
The girl in question quickly waved her hands, her face looked flushed as she avoided eye contact with the hyper latino. Jason found the scene in front of him pretty hilarious. The previously intimidating girl who took down an army, someone who Dylan was completely terrified of that he ran away, gets easily flustered by Leo's rapid compliments.
“Well, I didn't do much. I'm just used to fighting stuff like this, it's no big deal." She stated, waving her hands around. “Besides, I should on you guys. Are any of you hurt? Did one of the Anemoi Thuellai possess one of you and try to kill the other? Because I got some healing crystals and some spells that can expel them easily..."
Piper cleared her throat, alerting her friends and the girl(crow?) for attention. “Hi.. first, thank you so much for saving us," she started. “Second, can you PLEASE explain what the fuck is going on!? We were all attacked by our classmate who was actually some sort… "
“Venti.” Jason said.
“Venti! Thank you JJ. And we discover that our GYM teacher was a GOAT who was sent to our school to protect me, Leo and Jason, just some kids who have something that literal MONSTERS would attack us for! And then you come out of nowhere and just.. fight this.. Crazy wind thingy like it's nothing. Also, what's with Dylan, he keeps calling us ‘demi-gods’? What does that even mean!?” Piper screamed out, Jason could her ragged breath slowing down as she attempted to calm herself.
Leo nodded. “I agree with Pipes, I don't know what the ´demi´ means but I don't feel godly at all.” Leo added, looking down at himself. “Anyone feeling godly?”
The newcomer blinked her eyes for a moment before realizing the full picture. "Oh shoot! I'm really sorry, I forgot that you're all new to this and that you don't know anything."
She smoothed out her clothes and got some dust off before explaining everything. "My name is Mara Muhammad and I'm a part of the CHB extraction team. I'm really sorry I took too long, we would've been here sooner if those harpies hadn't ambushed us." She groaned, probably remembering the whole thing. "Annie told me to go ahead to where y'all are to protect you guys, just in case there was a monster attack."
Something inside of Jason’s brain clicked. He finally remembered where he saw her: she was the girl from the weird dream he had before he lost all of his memories. "Wait, you're the one Coach Hedge was talking about! He said something about an extraction team that was coming to pick us up earlier."
She smiled, revealing small fangs in her teeth. "Yep! I'm here with the extraction to bring you to camp! Well, they're not here, here but they're on the way."
“Extraction team?” Leo repeated. “Sounds painful.”
“Oh no, it's not what it sounds like. We are just a group of people who’ll bring you guys from point A to point B.”
“And where are you taking us to?” Piper asked Mara, raising her eyebrows.
“We will be taking you guys to a safer place, back to camp. And I'm sure all of you are confused, tired and have a million questions about what happened, why, and how, etc and I will explain everything but right now, I need to ask you some questions for you. First: what happened to your protector Gleeson Hedge? He should be here."
His full name was Gleeson Hedge? Jason would’ve laughed at that if everything that happened this morning didn't occupy his thoughts. Gleeson Hedge: football coach, protector of all demigods, and a goatman. Sure, why not? The three looked at each other, waiting for the other to explain to the goth girl what happened. Finally after a couple of seconds, Piper spoke up,
"Well, he.. got captured by Dylan, the crazy wind tornado thing, after he saved us. He was thrown into the same portal Dylan left and we don't know where they are."
Mara nodded along during Piper's explanation of the whole thing, listening intently. "Okay, I see. We might find him as well. Now, the second question," She reached into her skirt pocket and pulled out a photograph, showing it to the three teens. "Have any of you seen these two before today?"
Jason takes a look at the photo. In the photo were two dark skinned african american boys smiling at a party. The first boy had dark stormy green eyes that screamed troublemaker and had mid length black dreadlocks, two of them were dyed white, covering part of his face, and was dressed in an orange t-shirt while the second boy had dark inky eyes similar to a void, with long braids that went down to his back. He looked like he came from an old Victorian painting, dressed in white ruffles and a dark blue amulet on his collar.
“No, I’m sorry.” Jason said.
Piper shook her head. “I've never see them before.”
Leo stared at the photo closely. “Isn't that kid from Buzzfeed Unsolved?” He said, pointing to the boy on the left.
Mara looked to where Leo was pointing at. “Yeah, that's him. We were laughing once we all found out about the video while he was dying of cringe.” She said, softly smiling at the story. “But if you haven't seen them, then she must have another reason why we're sent here..”
The storm had almost dissipated. The other kids from the Wilderness School were staring out the glass doors in horror. Security guards were working on the locks now, but they didn’t seem to be having any luck.
“Okay, I'm still so confused.” Piper said. “What are demi-gods and why did Dylan and Coach Hedge keep calling us that?”
Before Mara could answer, there was a brittle sound like dry twigs breaking apart, and the cracks in the skywalk began to widen.
“We need to get off this thing,” Jason said. “Maybe if we—”
“Ohhh-kay,” Leo interrupted. “Look up there and tell me if those are flying horses.”
At first Jason thought Leo had hit his head too hard. Then he saw a dark shape descending from the east—too slow for a plane, too large for a bird. As it got closer he could see a pair of winged animals—gray, four-legged, exactly like horses—except each one had a twenty-foot wingspan. And they were pulling a brightly painted box with two wheels: a chariot.
"Oh yeah, forgot to tell you. That's gonna be our ride.” Mara said all too casually, like this is a normal thing she's used to (actually, scratch that. Of course she's used to it.) "Annie! Over here!” They waved their arms at the chariot, which flew closer to the cracking skywalk.
The four teens watched as the chariot landed on the bridge, the pegasi tucked in their fluffy wings and tip-toed carefully across the glass, like they could sense the breaking bridge. Two teenagers stood in the white chariot— a tall African girl with black and white goddess braids, she looks a bit older than Jason, and a bulky dude with a shaved head and a stone cold face similar to a pile of bricks.
The two were wearing a familiar orange t-shirt and cargo pants, with shields hung on their backs. The orange t-shirt girl Mara called Annabeth, leaped out of the chariot before it stopped moving. She ran towards Mara and the others while the bulky dude stayed back to rein in the horses.
"Mara!” Annabeth embraced Mara into a hug, squishing her tightly while the three teens stood to the side watching. "Are you okay!? We heard you screaming across the canyon! Did you get injured?” She frantically checked around Mara’s whole body while Mara tried to calm down her friend.
"Annie, I’m fine! The Anemoi Thuellai didn't hurt me <that> badly, compared to what I did to him, though.”
Annabeth stared at Mara, her eyes meant to show no fear but her body said otherwise. "Okay, good. Are they...” She said, looking right around her.
Mara's mood dimmed down, her hands grabbed the sides of her skirt. "No.. they weren't here at all. I'm sorry..”
Annabeth's face turned into a scowl, she took a deep breath before she looked up to the skies. “What do you want from me? From us!?” she screamed. “What have you done with them?”
Annabeth then turned her attention onto the others, looking at them up and down. Jason's spine was once again shivered at the girl’s fierce stare. Whoever these girls are or where they came from, they are very good at scaring people with only one look.
She points at Jason. “Explain who you are, and what exactly happened.”
Jason did his best trying to explain the story without messing, but it was a bit of a challenge with Annabeth’s intense stare at him and his friends, as if she was a scientist and they were her test subjects. About halfway into the story, Mr. Biceps came by from the chariot and stood next to the girls. He had his arms crossed and glared at them. Jason noticed a small rainbow tattoo on his biceps, which seemed confusing.
By the time Jason had finished explaining, Annabeth didn’t look so satisfied. “No, no! She told us that we could find a clue about them! She said if we come here, we could find the answer. Was she playing a trick on us?! Does she hate me this much!?!”
Mara put her hand on the grey eyed girl’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, we’ll find them soon.”
“Guys, look,” Mr. Biceps grunted. “Look at his shoes.”
Jason didn’t give it enough attention, but he was still missing his left shoe, which had been blown away by the lightning. His bare foot felt okay but it looked burned beyond repair like a plastic doll thrown in a fire.
“Oh my gods. You know what this means.” Annabeth said.
“That we have to take this guy to the infirmary later?” Mara replied. “Because holy shit, that looks like it hurts.”
“Actually, I feel fine, and my foot is still attached to my leg.” Jason inputted.
“No, that’s not what I mean, though maybe we should have Will check on him later.” Annabeth said, glancing down at the burnt looking foot. “<Hes> the clue we’ve been looking for! The one to help find the others!”
The skywalk shuddered and the horses whined in fear as the floor began to grow more unstable.
“Okay, we need to leave as soon as possible.” Annebeth said. “Everyone, go to the chariot.”
“Wait!” Piper interrupted. “What about our classmates and the school? Wouldn’t they notice we’re gone and call the police?” She pointed at the entrance where their classmates were hovering by as the guards tried to remove the doors locks.
"You guys just head into the chariot with Butch. He has the first aid kit and some food for you guys. Me and Mara will deal with your classmates.”
Annabeth headed towards the doorway, reaching for her pocket, and pulled out a strange pouch.
“Is she gonna threaten them to keep quiet?” Leo asked, looking at Annabeth.
Mara gave a smirk similar to a cat. “Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that it's gonna be mist-y!” She joked, laughing to herself as she followed after her friend.
The trio looked at each other, wondering if they should be concerned by that last part but they quickly ran to the chariot, not wanting to fall (or in Leo's case, fall again) into the Grand Canyon. After entering the chariot, Butch grabbed a blue backpack from the front and pulled out some snacks.
“Does anyone want crackers?” He asked.
Both Leo and Piper's arms shot up in the air while Jason weakly held up his hand. Butch tossed each of them a ziplock full of fish-shaped crackers, which Leo and Piper easily snacked on like everything was normal. Sure, it wasn't hygienic but they were too tired and hungry to care about it. Jason stared at the orange cracker in his hand, clearly confused by these strange snacks. He took a bite and crunched it for a while, his eyes lit up acting like a child on their birthday eating a cake.
“So.. who are these guys you're looking for?” Jason inquired. “From what I've seen, you, Mara and Annabeth are very determined to find these missing boys, are they important?”
Butch nods. “Yes, they are very important back at camp. Especially to those two. Both of them are worried sick with Annie looking for her boyfriend and Mara searching for her brother. They disappeared around three days ago with no notice and we've been looking for them non-stop. Then Annabeth got a vision from someone that we could find a clue to what happened to them if we come here to find ‘the boy with one shoe’ which we now know is you.”
Jason blinked. It's hard to imagine that he would be an important clue to find two missing people, but after today he could believe just about anything.
“What are their names?“ Leo asked, fiddling with one of his jacket pins that was shaped like a star. His bloodstained hands were washed away by the previous rain and all there was left was the scars from the sharp canyon rocks.
“Their names are Percy Jackson and Emir Muhammad.“

Myths: Jason Shoots the Sun 🏹
Jason, Billie, Butch, and Piper were traveling through Death Valley on a quest when Jason (who gets very cranky when he's hot) lost his shit under the sweltering sun and shot an arrow at it, nailing apollo in the butt cheek

I once said this on Twitter and got a LOT of backlash for it, but I think it's worth saying. Piper McLean is not hyper-femme. She's not even femme. Piper McLean is a butch sapphic woman. Though there's no problem with portraying her in pink or doing "girly" things every once in a while, if everyone is doing it all of the time, it creates a fandom misinterpretation of the character. It erases her identity as butch. Yes, she improved her internalized misogyny. No, that does not mean that she has become femme or "feminine." Part of feminism and eliminating internalized misogyny is the realization that women have the choice of how they want to present. Piper presents in a more androgynous/masc way. That's how she is, and I don't think all fanart of her should misrepresent her in such a way.
