Heard the most Pearl and Impulse coded conversation today when catching up on MisMag and thought I should share.

Evan (Pearl): One the whole larger umbrella of being a dog, that would rule.

Jammer (Impulse): Yeah!

Evan (Pearl): To be a dog.

Jammer (Impulse): 100%. Treats, back rubs, all your food is taken care of.

Evan (Pearl): People keep you.

Okay i know ive been kinda silent but like if you know me, you know im always lurking. always.

BUT ANWAYS.

Here me out:

Barrissoka but it’s Rupphire. and essentially Rupphire but it’s Barrissoka.

i had had this thought for quite a bit actually and i doubt i’m the only one who has! Honestly, Barriss as Sapphire and Ahsoka as Ruby is SO CUTE??? I mean not exactly as a role swap per-say but just I feel like in a similar aspect, the two pairs of characters compliment each other well to their fellow counterpart.

Let me explain.

Barriss Offee is originally viewed, (like Sapphire), as level-headed and a quick thinker, which we have already seen in “The Weapons Factory” when she first was shown in The Clone Wars, and also following her other appearances in the animated shows. Despite this, the Mirialan is clearly very compassionate and selfless, often putting herself in the way in order to secure the safety of others, as seen in The Clone Wars (“what happens to us doesn’t matter…” (but i am also conflicted with this because that behavior was almost coded as self destructive as well as her begging for death in the brain worms episode which could be seen as both?? anyways take that with a grain of salt i suppose)), and in the most recent Tales of the Empire, where we see her maintain a conflicted yet level-headed facade as she navigates her rapidly changing situation with patience, following that deciding her side in it all and putting herself out there to help others.

And Sapphire, (like Barriss Offee), comes off as cold and distant in many situations due to her ability to see into the future, essentially predicting the resolution to an event prior to it happening. This causes her to often struggle with expressing her emotions in the present. Like in the episode “Keystone Motel,” Ruby and Sapphire separate due to the high rise of emotions between the two of them from the fact Pearl was lying to them. Ruby is visibly upset, but Sapphire is trying to act as if it’s already happened, and that it’s something she’s already processed.

Another point being that when both Barriss and Sapphire experience intense emotions despite not always visibly expressing them, and that they tend to have a bit more of a violent side.

Essentially; both characters keep the visible facade they present as calm, until they are pushed too far and it’s already too late. (Barriss; the wrong jedi arc, seeing the violence from the war. Sapphire; when Rose Quartz lied about her identity for centuries.)

Now, I will admit I had a bit of a harder time finding similar/matching traits between both Ahsoka Tano and Ruby, but after considering both characters and the circumstances in which they were in, it’s clear that there are some characteristics between the two that could be comparable in certain lights. Honestly, I find more in common with the padawan version of Ahsoka (Clone wars Ahsoka Tano) with Ruby than her adult version (Rebels, Mandalorian, etc) , so I will most likely be talking about that when referring to Ahsoka at all.

Ahsoka Tano in “The Clone Wars” is originally depicted as snarky, stubborn, and reckless (like Ruby), as well as impulsive much like her master. Despite having these qualities, she is also brave, generous, and kind-hearted with good intentions in mind. As I already sort of mentioned, she did inherit a lot of traits from her master, like using aggression and threats in order to get what she wanted (when coming to information). Although she retained these traits from her Jedi master, she would eventually gain the confidence to make the right decisions when following her heart (despite the initial negative impact it had on her journey as a jedi). Overtime Ahsoka would learn to be more mature in her ways from the way the war had impacted her, though she would learn to strive through the good and the bad of her mission outcomes, always feeling that her true duty was to help restore peace to the Republic.

Now Ruby (like Ahsoka), experiences intense emotions throughout the show, but being able to be caring to those she considers close to her (even if a majority of the time her emotions are channeled through anger). But even during these moments of rage, she is capable of admitting when she’s wrong, which is something both these characters can do after their moments of cooling down.

I guess the point I wanted to make was in contrast to Barriss and Sapphire, Ahsoka and Ruby express their emotions more “openly” in comparison, despite both pairs definitely feeling emotions at their high. (Ruby in “hit the diamond” when she has a fit of rage from being deceived. Ahsoka in “the clone wars” when she uses threats against a prisoner to get information after losing her patience.)

Essentially; both characters exhibit impulsiveness and are feisty, but they also show passion and strength when it comes to things they care about and for what they consider is right.

In conclusion, I suppose you could just consider this an excuse to compare two amazing lesbian ships that I love, but to be honest I genuinely do consider there to be similarities between the two pairs! Also I really like to find barrissoka in everything around me so here we are. I really hope y’all enjoy this little yap thing I did since I feel like it’s kind of nice.

I have made a post about TMA entities associated with Scott and Grian, now It's time for-

Pearl- Eye+Lonely+Hunt+Exctinction.

Let's go in order, The Eye, I don't think any of the Evo people are safe from the eye, not with all the watcher interference. And there's a reason Pearl specifically is often headcanoned as a watcher. She knows, sometimes more then she should. Her "nature documentaries" are just her standing and watching people go trough their life and death and commenting on it. The nosy neighbors especially are very eye-coded.

The Lonely, this one is obvious as well, I'm sure you can understand why. Still, that is not only a Double Life thing. In Last Life despite being allied with Scott the whole time she ended up mostly doing her own thing most of the time with at least a full session where she dipped at the start and just was gone the rest of the session... On the other side of the Lonely there is Secret Life and Wild Life: Both times she was part of a bigger group, both times the group started splitting even when it was technically together (Bdubs being pulled towards the Etho/Cleo/Grian team vs Impulse and Pearl plotting on the sides). In Secret Life she was left alone as all of her team died and she was helpless just before turning away from Gem in favour of Scar. In WildLife she was costantly pushing and pulling after Gem and after being allied for like a minute Gem died. Pearl is alone, even now in season 10, running into chambers trying to get a mace just so she has a reason to hang out with the others.

The Hunt is more complex, as I already said Pearl is strangely competent and that's because she is observant. And while being observant is of the eye she is more like a predator, analyzing It's prey. At least that's how it feels to me, except the prey is ... Games, and redstone and other non living things. She is persistent, we seen it from cleaning lady Pearl that she will track you down if she wants you and she will not relent. Also the avatars of the hunt being monster hunter and Pearl hating chest monsters, something to think about. There's also the wolf thing as her wolf army resembles a pack of hunting dogs, that mostly is a vibe but it's still important. And she does have a tendency to become...feral at times.

And before we get to the last one let's talk about the epitome of her connection to these entities and the subversion of them:

Scarlet Pearl is The Eye and The Lonely and The Hunt at their most extremes, unhinged and dangerous and so so so cold and lost and manic and alone in her tower watching life go by down at the ground and stalking her prey and something wicked and everything else.

Santa Perla is the opposite of everything the entities represent. She forgets who she is and makes others forget too, amnesia against knowledge. She is warmth and compassion and light and the companionship of a worshipper who believes there is something higher reaching for them. She is agricolture, vegetation, harvest, gathering without hurting, domestication against hunt.

And here we come, the Exctinction... it follows her.

Evo had the meteor crash and then the destruction of the original spawn, Empires 1 had the destruction of all the empires and near anhilation of everyone living in the server,Season 8 had the moon crashing into the server which is like literally an apocalypse and I'm pretty sure her base in season 9 had pretty fucked up lore where all the aliens mysteriously died.

The Genius Insanity of Pearl’s Impossible Minecraft Ep2

When Pearl said her and Lizzie ‘saw that we liked their ep1 collab’ how could we expect this incredible one-sided enemies arc! Pearl sulks, is egged on into a wild chase, the gains of which are immediately overshadowed, leaving her back at square one.

Spoilers, I guess?

Pearl opens her episode with a tone setting conversation with Gem, where she receives her side quest for the episode. They look out over the server and discuss plans. And here context matters.

Everyone’s got their community contribution. Impulse and Skizz with the iron farm, Grian’s public access wheat/potato farms, Joel’s skeleton spawner, even Gem with her ep1 berry bushes. And Lizzie, with her enchantment table and iron farm path and decorative parkour bridge and wool farm and

Except for Pearl. Who, after all the shenanigans in the first ep, hasn’t put down roots yet or really built much. Two things she will not solve this episode.

Pearl admires and sulks a little over Lizzie’s cool house. Lizzie, who will NOT stop infringing on her brand! Magnificent material-intensive build that outshines and inspires everyone around it, learning new redstone mechanics, community service esp the paths — come on Pearl was literally the path lady in hc8! At this point Lizzie may as well put on a red cloak and record at 5 am!

Gem of course recognizes all of this and uses it for evil. She points out Pearl’s reaction with the type of glee only best friends can reach and taunts Pearl into action. Of course she’s gonna out-do Lizzie, right? Gem also sends her down the funniest path possible of acquiring one of her least favorite wood types. Ohh, Gem loves building with dark oak, if only someone was already building with it!

(That clip of Gem calling out Impulse’s love language as gift giving, yeah, Pearl has no room to talk.)

While outwardly confused by Gem’s over the top behavior, Pearl rolls with it and sets off on her material grabbing adventure. She stumbles across a couple odds and ends, and despite admitting that she doesn’t want any, goes incredibly out of her way to get dark oak. Aww. She’s so sweet when she’s competitive. Inevitably, she dies a couple times, but pulls herself up and cheerfully chats with people when she respawns.

And Lizzie, who is endlessly kind and caring and helpful and impossible to hate, giving out charitable iron helmets and offering her very horse up to Pearl. Her horse! Which dies, as many things do in this series, not that Lizzie minds all that much. But of course Pearl raises the stakes and promises a better horse to replace the one she lost.

(I’d put money on it that MrMakisten is coding up evil horse mechanics into the pack as we speak)

Eventually, Pearl finally returns with all (most) of her things and breathes a sigh of relief. Yet, before she can properly gift Gem the saplings and celebrate, her success is immediately overshadowed by Impulse and Skizz arriving with stacks and stacks of iron blocks. At Lizzie’s base, no less.

Pearl recognizes as the end of the episode that she spent a lot of time on a little thing. And honestly given the Horrors necessary to do anything in the datapack, she did make notable progress. But what gets to her isn’t the episode itself, no, it’s that she didn’t get her brand back. She could’ve just built her house and/or a farm of some sort and contributed just fine.

But that wouldn’t be enough in her head.

Fantastic episode all around! I’m so curious to see what happens in the nether, and if she’s actually able to make her house.

All the analysis said, this is for fun, and I love Pearl and Lizzie and the rest of the gang. I hope they keep having as much fun as they can in the series :)

OF COURSE. gosh. of course. this one is the one you chose. well, it is one of the few wips I actually think I might finish one day at least!

My 'Grian Watcher L' convention of naming things is related directly to my Watcher & Listener Fics which are actually inspired by your Hunger AU!!

cw: major character death, philosophical... issues

For the unaware, the context behind this au is that Grian got yoinked by the Watchers after Evo and they kinda killed him (rip, very sad, blah blah blah) and replaced him with a Watcher-vessel in a process called Transfer, creating an exact clone with all of his memories, personality, thoughts and feelings.

Watcher-vessel Grian knows he is a clone, and remembers dying, but doesn't really understand how he is fundamentally any different from his past self (he sees himself as more of a continuation than a replacement), so he doesn't tell anyone until Pearl figures it out. This does not go well for him as many of his Evo friends are very upset, grieving their friend while faced with a living reminder of him. But the other Hermits don't really care as much. Yay?

The second fic in the series follows BigB and how the Listener version of Transfer, Hollowing, works. BigB is also a little freak but he's less bothered about it because he sees himself as still the same person. Grian disagrees and thinks the original BigB is dead just the same as the original Grian is. It gets philosophical.

Anyway, transgender allegory- the people around Grian insist that he is a different person now, that he somehow killed his old self. Grian just thinks, well, his old self had to die for his new self to exist at all. And he's still the same person, isn't he? This is transgender ☝️

Then it turns out she is actually transgender for realsies. That is what this fic will be about. (we got there eventually). Following the same 5 + 1 format as the previous two fics, this one will follow Grian as she comes out as transfem to Scar, Pearl, BigB, Jimmy, Impulse & Bdubs, and Mumbo (except Mumbo already figured it out).

SNIPPET TIME!!! a long one, just for you

Scar tilted his head. “Oh, well, then—you’re a woman?” And, oh, the rush of that. Grian shuddered as a wave of sparks ran down his spine.

Or… her spine, maybe.

“Yep. Yeah, honestly, you saying that might’ve just sealed the deal.” Taking a moment to breathe, Grian slipped her tongue against the inside of her cheek, sounding out the terms in her head. She. Her. Woman. Girl. Those stubborn words so naturally fell into places she’d kept locked away. In the void of her insides, a light sparked.

Like some piece of her finally came home. 

A trembling laugh warbled from her mouth. Her eyelids fluttered, batting away the sting of tears. She took a deep, cool breath, as if emerging from dusty rubble. Distantly similar to her original’s death, the neverending pressure suddenly ripped itself away, leaving snow-fresh, unburdened life in its wake.

The thought lingered, unwelcome. An idea of what might have been, if her original had lived to see this day. If he ever gave it thought. A single word, an idea, even the slightest notion. If he would’ve been happier, if he’d known he wasn’t a ‘he’ at all.

Perhaps he would’ve been, but he was also dead. He probably had bigger things to worry about, like decaying into the code of the universe, recycled as all things are. Grian worried her lip under blunt teeth, and met Scar’s soft gaze.

“Do you still… this is stupid–” she rubbed at her eye with the heel of her hand– “do you still want to be, um…” in all honesty, she didn’t have a word for what they were. They were always just Grian and Scar, Scar and Grian, against the world. But she knew Scar preferred, well, men. At least, that’s what he seemed to convey. 

Yet, sitting there with a smile stretched across pitted skin, Scar opened his arms freely. “Of course, of course!” Grian breathed out her relief, shoulders relaxing just a tad. Winking, Scar wheeled himself to her side. “Y’know, a good man swings both ways.” 

He waggled his eyebrows, angling for a kiss, so she gave him one. A chaste peck on the forehead. 

“Right.”

she seems almost obsessive when she loves people. with people she’s actively supporting, she puts everything into helping them and being a good teammate (bigb, impulse, etc).

when she feels they’ve crossed her, she constantly goes back to bother them, constantly bringing it up (scott, cleo, gem??).

during WL, gem repeatedly offers pearl a spot with her as long as she betrays scott (except she doesn’t because of her loyalty/love/obsession/abandonment issues). this switch up confuses pearl and while she keeps expressing her desire to be friends with gem again she doesn’t know how to be loyal to both her chosen team and gem (SL flashbacks (we all know which side she chose then)).

In the comments of her SL9, there’s a comment mentioning how earlier she said something along the lines of “i’m with the mounders. gem and scar? gem yes, scar undecided.” before switching up to “scar, defeat gem!”

she replied to this comment with

“Gem chose not to ally with the mounders at the end, whereas Scar did. Key difference.”

pearl loves obsessively but she also needs to be acknowledged in turn. she’ll continue to express this, as seen in her commitment to bugging gem in WL, but she never shows gem loyalty until gem promises her (and then she immediately died but yk).

this seemingly one-sided loyalty/love/[whatever you want to call it at this point] very much gives the anger and embarrassment shown in the song through the actual instrumentals and vocals themselves. this is also seen in how she interacts with scott between the beginning of DL and the middle of WL.

embarrassed that she feels misunderstood, alone, and betrayed.

Deeply unserious au concept: Oops! This Bullshit All The Way Down (aka 'basically Everyone has unplayerlike instincts/needs, relying on the few people they trust to help while frantically obscuring those issues from every Other hermit')

Impulse as a summoned demon, Tango not his summoner so much as the soul-ballast keeping him here. Season by season adding Zed and then Skizz to counterweight the costs of remaining free. And if that also means sometimes Impulse will drag them down and use clever-careful claws to pry out their soul, their player-self, to hold and admire- well, Zed would say that's personal business thank youuuuu very! Much. :D

Pearl, a player whose eye for beauty keeps resulting in roles and powers that stop making sense if she thinks about them. First claimed by the moon as its heart. Then goddess of fields, and sunflowers-hearth, and hunting wolves- Pearl can't keep track. But there's lots of little peeping natural things that are hers, now. And she knows it's sort of the same for Gem, who fought free from forest-glade-honey only to get dragged down by the Becoming of the sea. They're really two of a pair; so if sometimes Pearl's eyes are drawn inevitable-forever to stare in wonder at the moon, or Gem's player-form starts trying to lose lungs entirely, they can squish each other back into the right shape, just about.

Mining fatigue is the sign of a dying elder guardian. Slowing down, scales dulling, until they turn to stone and sink forever. It takes 2 seasons for xB to admit what's happening to him, and Hypno immediately drags him onto modded server after server to hunt for a cure. Guardians have rigid social structures- the larger their school, the more need to manage population and food. The oldest (the largest and hungriest) elders transmogrify to make way for the next generation. Which is all to say: xB's joints meld into stone, and Hypno panics and slams him with the feeling of School, the equivalent of staring xB's brain down and yelling 'Yes I AM sixteen elder guardians in a trenchcoat'. It works; xB regains color, day by day, as long as Hypno reimpresses the lie to xB's brain once every few weeks. Hypno decides that instincts are stupid, actually.

Anyways. I am imagining this all unravels when Xisuma puts out a serverwide message like 'Server failsafes tripped, looks like some foreign code around binding and control? Going off-server is suspended until I find what specifically triggered them. Don't want another moon incident :-)' and like. Seven different people show up within half an hour to go 'uh heyyy maybe don't go looking so hard. Pretty please. <3' X is used to not knowing things about his players! But this is ridiculous.

The Coral Kids’ Keeper: Martyn and Scott live out on a island on the sea on the Limited Life server, and a sea creature that calls himself xbcrafted take interest in them. He protects them. He is here to protect them, right? (Dm note: oh my goddd I love this one still I love the horror at the end [I may just be biased to xb tbh lol])

Impulse’s post-death affirmation: Impulse got second place in Limited Life, and Skizz is so proud of him.

Clock Full of Love: Impulse gave Bdubs a clock in the beginning of Limited Life. At the end, Cleo adds her own touch to it.

Grian and Scar’s punishment: It all started when Grian and Scar touched his (Doc’s) redstone (tunnel bore). Their punishment? Zombiecleo scolding them.

They wouldn’t. Right? (Dm note: this idea wasn’t executed as well as I would have liked, but I really like the crumbling reality vibes of this one)

Cuddling with the Homies: Grian, Impulse, Scar, and Skizz playing Sons of the Forest. They get one tiny-ass tent to all sleep in. It’s if the “only one bed” trope was four dudes being idiots in the woods in a tent.

3rd Life x NightVale: the radio transcript when Cecil Palmer from the town of NightVale interviews a strange man with a red sweater and split knuckles and keeps talking about something that happened in a desert. (Dm note: love this one, definitely caters to a very specific audience, but this one shows up in my notifs almost every day. I think I did a good job at the ad breaks and such.)

Sacrificial Impulse: Grian, Scar, and Skizz died while hunting ghosts with Impulse. Impulse wants to bring them back, no matter the cost. Also, EvilNotion is the ghost hunters’ boss.

xB’s Revenge- a Blood on the Clocktower story: based on the first session of hermitcraft’s BOTC, Iskall accuses xbcrafted of being the demon, and xB becomes the first innocent to die. But xB sticks around after death, and wants the sweetest revenge on Iskall. (Dm note: this one is long as hell but man the concept was so good. Drowned!xb is so good.)

The Dungeon Is Hungry: Hypno thinks all the superstitions around the Decked Out 2 dungeon are stupid. That is until everything goes sideways and Cub is covered in sculk and pointing a sword at him down in level 4.

The Impossible Task: Martyn gets a very simple, two-word task in Secret Life: find RenTheDog. But Ren isn’t here… right? (Dm note: when I thought of this idea I literally said “ouch!” in my head lol)

GIGGS Hunts a Ghost!: the GIGGS crew gets called on by Zedaph to find and capture evidence of a ghost he claims he has seen haunting hermitcraft. (Dm note: the b-plot grian and zed rivalry is so funny to me idk why I decided they hate each other lolll)

A Moment of Peace: Martyn and Cleo are estranged soulmates in Double Life, and they take a moment to drink some tea and talk about what soulmate they’d like to have if they had a choice.

It Feels Different Now (and that’s a good thing): Pearl has to hurt people on the Secret Life server as part of her task, but she takes no joy in it now. She harkens back to what has changed between Double Life and now.

Jimmy’s Grave: Cleo made Jimmy a grave before he died in Secret Life. He did end up dying that very day, and a mourner comes by his grave when it’s all said and done.

Red: Pearl’s favorite color is red. She is made to be a red name, even when she’s not.

Becoming the Villain of the Server: (secret life) Scar digs up Jimmy’s grave to take his spine, to sell it to Joel, pretending that it’s Lizzie’s. Hey, what else is a man to do? (Dm note: this one fucks so hard, i love how fucked up the idea of it is, what Scar would have to do to make it happen. Eating this.)

From One Lonely Winner to Another: Scar wins Secret Life. Sunflowers grow from his skin to be with him as he goes to succeed the final task. (Dm note: another one I love, I just love the aesthetic of it all.)

"you're the fool, i'm just as well" by honeyblock (5k) - One-shot about Scott healing Pearl after she makes herself sick in Double Life. He's forced to face how much they have in common, like their preferred way of sorting resources. ugh. I love them.

"Scribbling the lines (from you to me)" by Siri_Spy (3k) - AU one-shot about Cleo and Martyn growing up as platonic soulmates across the country, communicating by writing on their skin. They are so cute and I cry.

"a falling axe, a sharpened knife" by sesquidpedalian (2k) - One-shot; the soulbond allowed Cleo and Martyn to push emotions at each other in Double Life as a shortcut for communication, but in Limited Life, they have to learn to talk in words again. This is very Them to me… ❤️

Something something, Martyn standing on the sidelines watching Cleo team with Scar and Bdubs despite the fact they come on strong and she finds them annoying (/affectionate), but she didn't accept Martyn in Double Life and you can tell he has Feelings about this but he can't say it without being weird, so he just kind of watches it play out. Ahhhhhh...

"A Certain Je Ne Sais What" by glossyblue (5k) - One-shot; the game's code forces all Double Life pairs to share beds when night falls. Grian lies awake calculating all the reasons literally anyone would be a better soulmate than Scar. Obviously BigB is the best.

Bonus shout-out to Bdubs and Impulse using iron to add springs to their bed. That's hilarious.

"Breathing In The Dark" by iguessihavenoname (3500) - Part 1 of a fascinating AU that opens with Grian finding his brother-in-law (hummingbird hybrid Scott) dead in an alley, followed by Martyn and Ren juggling politics. Plus more drama!

This AU has a few pieces in it and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes

"You are Gold to Me" by Rose_kitty (15k; ongoing) - Team Rancher meet-cute ft. beautiful Nether worldbuilding. Tango doesn't speak English well and introduces Jimmy to his culture. Not complete atm, but super cute.

"How to Be Haunted" by SlashMagpie (4k) - Gorgeously creepy AU one-shot about Cleo and Etho living together in a QPR, bonding over Bdubs' death- Lots of subtle Life series parallels in a spooky way.

"My tastes have changed, I like his recipe more" by Its5amHere (22k) - Part 2 in a series that explores Grian and Scar's relationship in Double Life, ft. some of my favorite scenes of all time like Grian opening Scar's creepy mail and Scar slapping one hand to his chest and wailing, "I make being here hard??" I love how Priscilla plays their fighting… also, how Grian adores BigB. I think about it constantly.

"Monster" by Yuli_Enderling - Herobrine is reborn with no memories and raised by villagers- The village thinks he's creepy and dumb because they're adults by, like, age 8 and he's still a kid and so it's weird for them.

He gets bullied, dumped in the forest, yelled at, tortured, and dies multiple times as a toddler even though no one even knows who he was in his past life and it's fascinating. It's super unclear whether this is a slow burn villain arc or a redemption story about becoming better than he used to be and I'm obsessed.

Super cool worldbuilding, excellent characterizations, lots of found family fluff and angst. Rangil and Margol, my beloatheds… <3 I want to rotate them in a jar.

There's a chapter where the baby villagers spawn in and the adults have to sort out which one is meant for who. It's super creative and fun.

Also, I'm grateful for the blog @mcytblrsource for highlighting active events to participate in (for artists and writers alike). I'm especially looking forward to these July events: @hermitcraftguesstheauthorevent & @mcyt-aspec-week. If I can pull it off, I'd love to participate in both!

Guess the Author 2024 - Works get revealed in 1 week and people have 1 week after to guess authors, so right now is a great time to check it out! They also have a Guess the Author 2023 collection that I've greatly enjoyed. Here's one piece from there I love:

"Memories Of A Life Not Lived" by schneefink (1500 words) - Cleo-centric. The theme here is Cleo recovering after having her memories manipulated during Limited Life, where she legit thought Etho was her ex and didn't question it. Back in Hermitcraft, the illusion is gone.

Cleo inner turmoils about it. She desperately wants to ask Etho if he "also got fake memories about their fantastic sex life" or if that was just her. Her reason for not asking him is that she thinks he'll immediately run away, and she fears if she somehow corners him where he can't run away, he'll look her in the eye and say "I got memories about our sex life, at least" and leave off the "fantastic" part, and I just think this is such a silly set-up for a plot.

Congrats on your pre-marital divorce. Have fun playing TCG.

Here are 4 personal favorites from my own work (FountainPenguin)

"Here's to the Health of Married Men" (42k) - Scar's POV of attending a post-Double Life ballroom event, watching Grian blatantly favor BigB over him. He tries to sort out his feelings and decide whether or not that bothers him. He just feels... numb.

Also, Ren finds out Grian was BigB's secret admirer and challenges him to a duel to the death, even though they're in the server hub and there are serious consequences for that.

This piece is directly based on the song "The Duel" from the musical Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. I'm really proud of how I wove that song with the existing Double Life canon.

I like this piece because of the emphasis on Scar's conflicting feelings, especially his numbness, when it comes to thinking of the close relationship he didn't get to enjoy with Grian in Double Life and how he can't bring himself to fault Grian for lack of attraction for him because he would feel awful if he blamed Grian for it. And he doesn't think he can say anything about it, but he feels weird dancing with him.

It's a blend of unreliable narrator and yet pulling back the curtain on his feelings. I think I pulled off Scar's emotional wall well and I'm proud. I love this song and this musical and it makes me happy.

Also, special shout-out to Martyn showing up in diamond crocs.

"Mum's the Word" (10k words) - Literal interpretation of the Double Life Ep 2 bit where Ren refused to go to the deep dark unless Martyn called his mom to ensure their date was still on. Martyn grumbled about it, stating that his mom is a woman and Ren is acting like a boy, but he made the call.

The thing is, in my Pixels Imperfect worldbuilding, all players are hybrids hatched from dragon eggs. So I wrote a story about Martyn's mom coming to pick Ren up for their date. Yes, she's the Phantom Dragon and Martyn hates every bit of what's happening.

Ren's date is not the focus of this piece, as the piece is focused more on the phantom hybrids having awkward charcuterie snacks with their mom before Ren arrives. I just think the concept of a dragon mom is very, very silly and I love playing it straight.

"Scary Stories For Young Fox Hybrids" (7800 words) - Set in a universe where the Life series is real and exists in a single timeline (as opposed to separate roleplay seasons). Skizz takes 13-year-old Scar and 8-year-old Bdubs Clocker on a Solo Skizz adventure to give single mom Cleo a break. In a ghost town called Valentine Pier, they find an injured Martyn hiding in an abandoned game show studio.

This piece has a sequel ("Enter Mr. Littlewood" - 5k), ft. my favorite joke: Scar asking Martyn why Cleo had kids with Etho if Martyn is supposed to be her one true soulmate. -1000 HP damage.

I have additional pieces in this plot arc to come (Slowly as I finalize the worldbuilding), but the humor and set-ups of these pieces makes me laugh.

My goal for this AU is to build a complex semi-dystopian fantasy world with lots of politics between specific lands (like the Southlands, Dogwarts, Magical Mountain, etc.) All characters are hybrids; Martyn is a phantom who lives in fear that people will rip off his wings and use them for elytra. Crafting and inventory space are part of a magic system you learn as you age. Super looking forward to doing more with the worldbuilding in this universe.

Neighborhood Watch AU (above) has some dark content, but the two pieces mentioned above are T. The first has purple soul goop representing injury.

"No One Likes the Opening Band" (13k words) - Joel's cam account (PiglinMyNose) plays the first game of the competitive camming season: a sport focused on cam accounts recording epic shots during a scrimmage match between players.

I think this is a super fun part of my work because I wanted to flesh out the Pixels Imperfect-verse worldbuilding with in-universe sports. Also, I love the cam accounts so much.

Bonus points for SnifferMyFeet having a meltdown over the hottest semi-invisible catboy he's ever seen, BadTimeWithScar: captain of the other team.

Beach City is the primary location in the Steven Universe franchise. It is situated in

Beach County[1] in the fictional state of Delmarva, in the 443 area code, on the East

Coast of the United States.The Crystal Gems have resided in Beach City before Bill

Dewey's great-great-great-great-grandfather, Captain William Dewey, founded Beach City nearly 200 years ago. After many months out at sea, the Crystal Gems, as messengers of Rose Quartz, came across William Dewey's ship and warned the captain and crew to turn back, as the land that would soon be known as Beach City was dangerous and not safe for humans. William Dewey, after an incident with the mast of his ship, drifted across the sea until he and his crew encountered a massive storm and a giant Gem Monster. The ship was saved from being sunk after a Crystal Gem fusion (Obsidian)[2] saved William Dewey and the ship. She brought Dewey and the ship to shore and told the captain not to reside on the land. William Dewey chose to stay on the land, and the Fusion accepted William's decision and informed him that she would most likely interfere again.[3] The Crystal Gems continue to reside in Beach City where they watch over and protect its inhabitants from danger and evil.

13. What are your character’s goals in life?

Protect and defend the Earth from threats. Defeat Jasper (formerly). 14. What stops your character getting towards their goals?

She struggles to accept the burden of responsibility and overcoming her poor self-image arising from her smaller stature and "defective" creation, and takes her anger out by picking fights. She is rebellious and stubborn and does not listen to others easily. 15. What personality flaws does your character have and how do they manage them?

Carefree to a fault

Pearl and Steven help her become more aware of her responsibilities/ she matures throughout the show.

Amethyst is easily amused and very impulsive. She is bad-mannered, untidy, and a bit lazy; much to Pearl's detriment, but still means well. Her unwillingness to let others throw out the junk in her room marks her as somewhat of a hoarder. These tendencies surface in "Maximum Capacity", where she is unwilling to let Greg throw anything away in his storage unit. This is not managed?

Amethyst has an admittedly low opinion of herself and a strong self-loathing that she usually keeps buried under her boisterousness. When her self-doubt takes effect, it makes her act cold, reckless, stubborn, and starts looking for a fight. She meets Amethysts that are from Earth and that they remember her as 8XM, befriending her and making pranks at her side. In "Tiger Philanthropist", she is now comfortable with her self-esteem and no longer needs wrestling as an output of dominance and power.

Obsession with finding and beating Jasper which leads her to recklessly challenge her alone, all the while denying her friends' help and encouragement. "Earthlings" shows Amethyst come to terms with herself due to Steven's encouragement, comfort, and stating that they are the same, leading them to fuse into Smoky Quartz. 16. What special talents does your character have – were they innate or did they develop them, or discover them – if the latter, then how did this happen over time?

Amethyst’s powers develop stronger as she becomes more confident. Her lack of confidence inhibits powers in gems.

Developed:

Flail/Whip Proficiency: Amethyst is very skilled with her whip, which mixes very well with her immense physical prowess. She can throw her whip to entangle or bind her target from afar.

Martial Arts: Amethyst is the Crystal Gem least likely to rely on her weapon in combat, relying instead on her martial arts skills and enhanced physical powers to deal with minor threats. She also is a skilled wrestler

Natural Abilities:

Enhanced Regeneration:

Amethyst can normally regenerate very quickly and with great variation, but this has been shown to backfire, as regenerating so quickly can make her new body extremely unstable. Strength:

Amethyst, being a Quartz soldier, has amazing physical strength, she is capable of jumping immense heights and can easily lift giant objects using her whip. In "Crack the Whip", she was able to poof Biggs Jasper by twisting her with her whip and strength. In "Steven vs. Amethyst", Amethyst destroyed a large portion of the ground as she pulled Steven.

Enhanced Durability:

Amethyst has also a great durability, in "Laser Light Cannon", Amethyst readily volunteered to get thrown at the Red Eye by Garnet in order to punch or body slam into it as an attempt to destroy it, persevering long after it was already proved to be a futile act. In "Crack the Whip", she was able to withstand a beating from Jasper, poofing only when Jasper attacked with her helmet.

Shapeshifting:

While most Gems are capable of shapeshifting, Amethyst is particularly skilled at it, specializing in transformations. She may use this skill to enhance her unarmed fighting or take on more bizarre forms depending on the task at hand. Some of her forms include several random to lethal animals, a fully-functional helicopter to transport others, her wrestling alter-ego, the Purple Puma, etc. However, Amethyst cannot shapeshift when she is under a lot of pressure, as revealed in "Secret Team".[2] There is also a limit on the amount of time she can stay shifted before having to revert.

Photokinesis:

Amethyst is shown using her gemstone to project a purple light, like a flashlight.

Bubbling:

Amethyst is able to bubble objects. Her bubbles are purple and are sent to the Burning Room inside the Temple. After Peridot poofs Jasper Amethyst bubbles her gemstone.

Unique Abilities:

Spin Dash: Amethyst can rapidly roll into a ball-like shape to attack enemies. While powerful, it is smaller than Jasper’s version,

Homing Attack: Amethyst can home in on nearby enemies while spin dashing

Whiplash Spin Dash: Amethyst can summon both of her whips, ignite them with violet fiery energy and then spin dash on top of them, giving a violet aura to her spin dash. When she makes contact with something, it causes a big violet explosion.

Hair-Blade: Amethyst can use her hair to slash at an enemy with such potency it severs others. This includes the claw of Bixbite.

Enhanced Digestion: Amethyst can eat materials (including glass, plastic, paper, etc.) and can digest it without getting sick or disgusted. However, she was food poisoned by a burrito in "So Many Birthdays".

○   Fire burp: Amethyst can burp fire after drinking cooking oil, as revealed in ○      the episode "Gem Harvest".

Clandestine Abilities:

Levitation: While controlled by White Diamond, Amethyst has the ability to indirectly suspend her body in midair.

White Burst: While controlled by White Diamond, Amethyst is capable of shooting a white energy beam from her eyes equivalent to White Diamond's aura, in which it can also mind control the affected gems. 17. Is your character a loner or gregarious – or something more complicated (if so, describe)

Amethyst has many friends, however she feels secretly inferior to them due to her being a “defective” gem. She has a hard time letting people in and ends up taking her anger out on them. However, as she befriends others and grows she feels more secure in her friendships and personality, becoming less impulsive and explosive and becoming confident in her identity.

Your additional questions 18. What are Amethyst's favorite things?

She likes to eat crazy concoctions of ingredients, including things that might not actually be edible, and play video games. 19. Why does Amethyst feel inferior?

A large part of Amethyst is how guilty and inadequate she feels for things that she has no control over, and no one helped her for years. Her problems originate with being a gem that isn’t properly formed and being a byproduct of the homeworld invasion. Another factor is Pearl and Garnet don’t always act the most supportive, often driving her to act out.

She knew she was part of the pain on earth and struggled to understand her place, making her deeply insecure and confused. After meeting Peridot and Jasper she becomes more confused knowing she is a malformed Gem. She does enjoy Peridot's company a lot though and helps her be able to adjust to life on earth, they still run into some problems with communication and world view but end up being good together. Jasper is someone Amethyst wants to beat to prove she is good enough but also wants to consider family even calling her Sis.

Amethyst as nothing more than a joke and a failure for being 'overcooked'. Jasper told Steven (whom she mistook for Rose) that she must have been desperate to enlist the help of a "runt" like Amethyst. At the end of the events of "Crack the Whip", Amethyst feels inadequate because Stevonnie took down Jasper without her help, making Jasper's words feel true.

Arnav Singh Raizada MBTI Typing ISTJ

Arnav is all Introverted Sensing (Si) , he’s stuck in the past! His personality and mindset is influenced strongly from past events, any present occurrence is first processed and then referenced to what he’s already experienced, he recognises patterns of behaviours and relies on predictability (which isn’t always reliable as people are complex beings), these experiences shape his view on people (I.e he initially views Khushi as a money-hungry. saboteur who has lose morals ).

He ruminates intensely, analysing and brooding upon situations for long periods of time. He takes actions based on how he predicts a person is relying on his personal lived experience (Si-Te) so when he impulsively marries Khushi, it’s rooted from what he’s witnessed with his mother and he doesn’t want a repeat of events, not stopping to think that things might play out differently. A lighter show of his Si is when he uses it to try and win over Khushi, like when he begins to recreate their old moments and memories together! It’s also observed, that he likes to keep her momentos (like her anklet or pompom) which is very Si!.He remembers details about Khushi (her likes and dislikes) and he buys her personal gifts based on the knowledge he’s accumulated (she likes bangles so he buys her bangles, all the presents he buys her during her birthday are personal like the pearl necklace and Salman Khan poster, a little cute example is when he buys her channay because likes them etc). Once again , it’s highlighted that he doesn’t forget (and is hard to forgive) when it comes to other people’s past actions, he was one of the only people in the family to be disgusted and vocally against Shyam being allowed back into the home (Even moreso than Khushi who was a direct victim of Shyam!). He doesn’t trust Shyam not to try anything malicious again based on his past behaviour.

Arnav’s second function is Extroverted Thinking (Te), this is how he communicates to the world in direct, straightforward statements. Even when he questions, there’s a hidden command in his tone.His language is full of orders and demands ( “GET OUT! Shut up Khushi Kumari Gupta! …even his famous “what the…!”) He sees things for what they are it’s either black or white, right or wrong. A fact is a fact. He doesn’t further question or investigate when he sees Khushi and Shyam on the terrace, he accepts it as the brutal truth, a fact that his eyes and ears have witnessed (if he was an introverted thinker, he would have investigated or questioned this more) so he goes straight into reactionary behaviour, he comes up with a plan to marry Khushi and he implements it. When Khushi refuses to take their relationship further due to the lack of phere (a ceremonial Hindu marriage ritual) he picks her up and starts conducting the ritual there and then! A lot of his actions are like this ; there’s a crisis, here’s the soloution, problem solved. His Te shows through his work ethic, he’s the boss of a very successful fashion industry, he is methodical and organised and very good leader. His leadership qualities are very much present in his home life, as he is the patriarch of the Raizada family, his word is law and no one can go against him. Sure, they question and challenge him but at the end of the day it’s his way or the highway.

Arnav’s third function is Introverted Feeling (Fi), Arnav is intensely private about his emotions and inner turmoil, but his Fi start bleeding out when he realises how damaging his behaviour has been towards Khushi when she was under his employment; and then when he is rude to her, not knowing she’s also an orphan like himself, he is burdened with the need to apologise for his unjust behaviour. It’s his Fi that compels him to pay Khushi’s father’s hospital bill, to protect her and care for her, he has a strong moral code and sense of how he should be in his various relationships, for example he takes his role Khushi’s husband very seriously, he protects Khushi in public because that’s his duty as a husband regardless of the private conflict between him and his wife (but also because internally, he still deeply loves her) or when he stays at the Gupta house and he behaves accordingly as their son in law despite his differences with Khushi (his Fi shines during his stay there, another example being, when he stands up for Khushi’s friend at her wedding because he is against the discrimination and ridicule the in laws are inflicting, it’s against his personal values), his sense of duty and responsibility also extends itself into his relationship with his sister, Anjali, and the rest of his family, he is fiercely loyal and protective. He rarely says I love you especially in the beginning but his behaviour conveys his love, his actions reveal his heart. His Fi is more immature than Khushi’s , it’s one of his weaker functions but it beautifully develops and strengthens throughout the show.

Lastly, Arnav’s inferior function is Extroverted intuition (Ne) which is his spontaneity, his ability to see intuitive possibilities in his present environment and to pick up on things…Arnav isn’t the one who comes up with fun schemes and ideas, he’s more stuck in his routine and logic. He struggles being out of the box but this is something that draws him to Khushi, she’s full of Ne! It’s a quality that greatly charms and endears her to him. 💗

Interestingly, Khushi and Arnav are complete opposites, each of their weaknesses is the other’s strength…Arnav lacks Ne, Khushi is overflowing with it (this is especially evident when they team up to set Payal and Akash up! Khushi is the one who comes up with the idea and Arnav implements it ..not without poking holes in the plan first, of course!) and Arnav is the voice of reason, he offers the practical and rational angle. Arnav’s realism (Si-Te) grounds Khushi’s idealism (Ne-Fi), they are complete mirrors to one another, each bringing a light to the other’s dark side.

Oooh and one last side note! I believe Arnav is stuck in a Si- Fi loop and his character development occurs when he finally gets out of it, which would be the pivotal moment during the remarriage, when he returns and finally steps out of his personal trauma.

Martyn & Ren : they're crazy with the mutual yearning, but seemingly only get to be romantic when there's tragedy involved. they're literally not allowed to be normal. in my AU, the life series games occur in a place where the people inside have their memories of the outside world suppressed, so Martyn can't remember Netty and Ren can't remember Doc or False, which makes them meeting and going crazy about each-other inevitably painful (/pos).

- (Scattered AU) After Etho dies accidentally at the spawn haven, his spawn takes him to Xisuma. Xisuma is clinging to life when he gets there, and Etho only has time to grab his admin's arms and promise he'll be found before Xisuma passes away. Etho and Xisuma get a few hours together to work on getting Xisuma to the surface before Etho starves to death, and he's transported somewhere else. After that Etho makes it his mission to cycle through spawns as quickly as possible to help Xisuma and anyone else who is trapped in their spawn graveyard, no matter how much his legs start to fail him from the damage starting to linger from building into the sky and leaping off to respawn over and over. - @/petrichormeraki

So while X and Jevin are trying to get to the surface, they encounter a dungeon or a mineshaft and Jevin gets fatally injured. X starts freaking out cause he doesent want to be alone again and he cant bear to watch Jevin die infront of him and risk getting lost and seperated and Jevin just splits, theres two Jevins now and X doesent know what to think of it.While there are two Jevins, their consienceness is split between the two and his motor skills are more sloppy and X notices and realises that Jevin loses more of himself the more he splits. So while he has a lower chance of losing Jevin to an unfortunate accident, Jevin slowly reverts to a slime the more be splits and the more be spends time as multiple entities. X worries that if Jevin splits for too long or too much, he might lose Jevin - @/itsabork

- The only portal to get out of Hels and into the overworld is an incredibly complex vault boarder line weapon built by Hels Doc and Hels Mumbo and the location of the portal is known only to a few and it changes every season. His spawn is in the birch forest near the s8 spawn, and his presence spooks anyone who stumbles across him. He blends in concerningly well with the black and white of the forest. Beef feels like hes being watched whenever he goes in the birch forest to get supplies, but joe never notices a thing. - Speaking of hybrids, Xisuma spawned in a Wardens den right? Well unlike the other hybrids, Xisuma has been changing too but its been slow. Every time he spawned back in that place, on the warped ground, he's changed. He doenst notice the dark starts to seem less dark, until noises get louder, until he's more sentive to it then he noticed, he gets stronger and breaking though the stone with his bare hands seems a bit easier, its not until he finds Jevin and he points out the glowing horns (1)peaking from his temples when his hair is pulled back hastily that he realizes that something has gone horribly wrong with him. Thankfully Jevin helps ground him before he can freak out, so he shelves it for later, once they're out of this cave. The warden that once was down by his spawn is no longer there btw, disappeared. - Jellie had spawned in the village that cub and xb had come across, so when xb heads to 0,0 he takes her with him (she'd be safer in the overworld than in the end, after all). Its quite a long journey, and she makes for good company. -@/supertiny-tins

- Grian, Doc, and Ren fianlly start heading out to 0,0. Its a long journey, they decide in the end to leave their beds behind at the cabin in case any of them die so none of them end back at their orginal spawns. they would of just made new beds every time but the lack of suplies and resources near by has been low oddly enough. Doc manages to push aside most of his fears to help Grian and Ren, who are weaker, but he keeps his distance whenever he can. They make many hastily built huts as they go 1most nights are spent sleeping on hard ground, later straight up blocks of wool they find but not beds, just wool is better then ground, and it doesn't do the weaker hermits any favors but it works. There are many close calls, but they manage to avoid death, mostly due to Doc. Along the way they start to find signs of other players, coble in places it shouldn't, a rare torch, half mined trees, but no hermits. They still have a way to go, but they're getting closer to the others and safety. 2 - anonymous

Think about it he's been hanging around with them and Jevin in the lush caves so maybe he's becoming more like them. - Because I absolutely adore Daisy, more headcannons for Daisy.Daisy will occasionally just pick Mumbo up gently with her horns when she thinks she isn't getting enough attention. Daisy has a bell collar, because she kept scaring hermits by following Mumbo silently. Daisy is more okay with Iskall than most other hermits, though still doesn't really like him. - anonymous

- Though I'm a sucker for angst, what if Impulse was saved by a dolphin pod or something instead of transforming into a hybrid (or after transforming if Guardian!Impulse is cannon). :3 I can picture dolphins don't take kindly to the Guardian Mobs, might even find them as prey if anything since they're fish. (Guardian!Impulse wouldn't count since they're smart enough creatures to tell the difference.) - anonymous

- For the scattered au, after the numerous frozen deaths Grian's gone through he starts hearing voices from the snow, even from within Ren's cabin. A snow golem forms after a wandering trader drops a pumpkin and watches from outside the cabin, deciding to guard the place after taking a liking to Grian and Ren. - anonymous

- When Etho became fully ghost, it hit hard. BeetleJhost saw this, and after a while decided to teach him how to show his form and speak. It takes a lot out of him, but it’s worth it. - Possible explanation for everything going on in Scattered:Players were never supposed to be so powerful; in the natural state of Minecraft they're just another mob, albiet one that can craft and use any tool.But the Players weren't satisfied with that. Everyone from the admin of the smallest server to the mythological ‘dev team’ has been imposing little changes on the world since its inception, slowly tweaking it into a better environment for Player-kind.A single spawn at the world's centre. The ability of Players to chat from one end of the world to another -- even across different worlds. Even natural regeneration, an ability unique to the rarest and most powerful of mobs. As time marched on, Players not only unlocked these things but began to take them for granted, drawing far away from the behaviour of normal mobs. This became normal. Players continued to create datapacks and run commands that tweaked the very nature of the world. -@/draconic-dreams

- Jessasin spawned in a mesa biome, of course he's confused on how he got there and why he's in this random vanilla world and not his usual modded world, but both questions got pushed aside when the death messeges arrive. I discovered the scattered au literally yesterday so sorry if this is something that has already been gone over but I had an idea about bdubs, what if his constant exposure to the void and surviving on nothing but chorus fruit for who knows how long made him slightly enderman-y? 1/2 (sorry, couldn't fit the whole thing in one ask)Like nothing obvious at first, but making eye contact makes him agitated and snappy, touching water makes his skin tingle and if you look at him in the dark his eyes seem to have a very faint pink/purple glow about them? Maybe the other hermits swear he's taller than he was the last time they saw him? And the tips of his fingers are blackened, he assumes due to frostbite, but it seems to gradually be making it's way further up his hands? again sorry if this has been gone over already 2/2 - @/plantichu

- Okay so after Welsknight and Helsknight manage to get past the crazy vault door in Hels, not sure how but it probably involved a lot of cussing on Hels part and Wels saying that he never wanted to look at redstone ever again. - Loving the Scattered AU. Late to the party, but was looking at the wider MC community reaction to the Hermits vanishing. Once it's clear something bad's happened, would the Legacy crew and whoever else (former Evo squad members like Martyn and Jimmy as well, if they notice Grian go dark) take steps to find out what happened? Would they go to the MCC server (it's kind of a nexus between worlds) & get Noxcrew to try "pinging" the HC server? Would X & other admins see it but be unable to respond? - @/wixelt

- I dont know if anyone has mentioned it but uhhhh, guardian xb? he was a guardian hybrid before everyone got scattered like Ren was already a wolf/dog hybrid. iirc xb spawned in a desert which would be a very interesting place for a guardian hybrid to spawn - anonymous

- Etho has been so, so desperate to avoid dying the same way twice, to stay himself. He hasn't drowned that many times, he thinks. Surely, surely he's starved more often? There's a strange feeling of deja vu hanging over him when he respawns in the ocean, though he can never understand why. Each time the squid finds him, he drowns a little slower, and each time, he glows a little stronger.And he just can't understand, almost refuses to, as he treks from biome to biome, where the small green bumps that line his arms and face came from, how his fingertips seem to almost glow when he scoops a handful of water, how long he finds himself simply staring… at the moon, at sea lanterns, at torches, at lights… He would die a different way every time. He had to. He had to stay Etho. He would not become anything else. - Anonymous

- When Mumbo comes riding into camp on Daisy, it’s easy to see Impulse is not happy about the ravager being there. That’s expected, it’s not exactly everyone’s favorite mob to see around a safe haven. But when Mumbo and Impulse make eye contact, the evoker can’t help but make a simple warding gesture his friends at the mansion taught him- it’s a reflex move. Days later, Mumbo still isn’t sure if Impulse flinched because of Daisy’s sudden growl or his ward. - @/fluffy-papaya

- (From the Discord) What happened to the world: For years, seeds and the land they built had been carefully curated by those known as players, in an effort to make it both easier and more interesting for themselves. But the land doesnt want to be controlled. Their glitched, broken world is a result of the world itself rioting against their presence. Coordinates aren't visible with the debug screen, their coms only serve the world, to tell the players what it knows. Compasses spin wildly in the overworld, for there is no "world spawn" (though coordinates are visible with one in hand. Small mercies are still given). The world resists any further changes by the simple fact it refuses to accept what a hermit communicates. Maybe it's fixable, but maybe... maybe it runs deeper than just their world. (The Legates caused a lot of damage with all those withers, after all.) - @/basaltdragon

- When everyone is finally gathered and they manage to come together to use all their skills, new and old, the hermits use it to flee back to Season 7. They stay there for months, mostly to heal and adjust to what happened to them. (Trauma isn't easy) Those who have friends or family off server get invited to visit, but the hermits don't leave, they nearly lost each other and they aren't willing to risk it again right now. They'll make a new season 8 at some point, the hermits are too (1/3)restless and too ingrained in their ways to completely disregard how they've always done things, but that will come when they feel better, safer, more put together, when they can finally stop sleeping in a big pile becuase they're afraid the others will disappear. They never go back to that old glitched world, the idea makes them sick, and X starts the new practice of sending in the 'Cam' and/or 'alt' accounts in first to check out the world and set up commands and plugins remotely first. (2/3) What happened before will never, ever happen again he swears it. Next time they might not be so lucky after all [if you can call them all being traumatized, many of them dying over and over again, some being permanently altered, and barely escaping lucky] (also feel free to save these asks for near the end of the au!) (I don't have Dramatic Storytelling for this one, sorry) EX has ADHD to the max, and everything he does is a desperate attempt to get Noticed, to get looked up to and listened to. He's known it was "wrong" for a while, hence why he took X's name and added "Evil", but he never seriously wanted them to hurt. Just to listen to him. He'd meant to come in and fix it all and finally be a hero. He didn't realize, either through haste or inexperience, that he too would be at the mercy of what he'd done.Maybe he does, eventually, make it to where the hermits have gathered. - False, Keralis, Cleo, and Stress make it to spawn, bedraggled and exhausted. Out of all the Hermits, they are some of the last to arrive. Along the way, they’ve encountered trials innumerable that have left them beaten and bruised, but after months of travel, they’ve finally made it.Shortly after leaving the Moobloom field, they came upon an abandoned cart in the middle of a desolate village. With some of the redstone they had found and whatever magic they managed to scrape up, they turned it into a sort of vehicle that allowed them to travel much faster. It had a habit of breaking every six seconds or so, but nothing they couldn’t fix. For the most part. A few accidental combustions aside, they crossed the server in record time.Once at spawn, False has to be forcibly restrained from immediately starting guard duty, and several of the Hermits have to physically wrestle her into a bed in order for her to get some rest. Stress starts up a potion factory the next day, and also starts decorating the spawn with the flowers she’s collected during their travels. Keralis helps out wherever he’s needed, but in his downtime, he constructs an elaborate warren of tastefully decorated, industrial tunnels under the spawn, just in case they might help. Cleo mostly just stays in bed, creating elaborate dioramas and mourning the loss of her zombie side. She’ll get better, but it’ll take some time. And that’s ok with the rest of them. - @/topazastral

- When Doc, Grian, and Ren finally make it to 0,0 there is no fanfare, no dramtic entrance, no revulation. They were travling and suddnly, there was a base, a hermitcraft base, and they could see people. Grian clambers to feet shakily from the shed, nearly falling but Doc and Ren catch him and toghther they help him walk foward and call out to their friends. They are safe now, they're here- Is that mumbo on a ravager what the hell? Wait thats Impluse? Seems like Grian wasnt the only one changed. - anonymous

- Jellie reacting to vex!scar headcanons -she recognises him instantly. The moment she and xb arrive at spawn she darts straight towards him. Of course, she cant figure out why he looks different, but regardless, thats her owner and she demands pets!!!-sometimes she will jump up and try to pounce on his vex wings, because shiny moving thing! Scar picked up on this very quickly and will move out of the way before she gets the chance (vex wings are rather delicate and a pain to get fixed)-whe she's bored, she will always go to mumbo and daisy for attention first. This makes scar rather jealous and she knows that damn well-Scar will sometimes pick her up and fly her around not too far from spawn for a few minutes. Nothing she isnt used to, as he flys with the elytra all the time, but something about flying with vex magic just feels... different. And fun! - anonymous

- Scattered AU: The intended world "theme" Xisuma had set up for Season 8 was Large Biomes. This was before anyone knew something was going to go wrong, of course, but it's had a horrible lasting effect in the glitched world. Not everywhere has generated as "large", so when Hermits are travelling they'll sometimes find normal sized biomes, and other times they'll find one biomes that stretches an abnormal distance in all directions. Grian and Doc's mountain range is one of these large biomes. - @/wixelt

- For the scattered au, the snow golem follows Grian and Ren (and Doc) to the spawn haven, for a few days the hermits are wondering what's leaving behind snow trails and zombie flesh, so they decide to have a night watch around this area. Ren volunteered and waited, half-asleep he nearly nearly gets hit with a arrow when he hears the sound of a skeleton getting hurt. He sees the snow golem and uses his sword to kill the skeleton. The snow golem tries to flee but Ren realizes and stops it (1/2)He welcomes the snow golem and introduces it to Grian and Doc, (where the snow golem warns him that it is keeping its eyes on him in its own language). Spooked, Grian tells them that he can understand it, and the golem tells him that he's been following them since their time at the mountain. They decide to give it the name Catmint and it helps guard the hermit's base at night (while giving a stern look at Doc every now and then.(2/2) - anonymous

It turns out Etho was not in fact human, instead a shapeshifter who didn't know that he was, the deaths simply sped up the process, whereas before, while he would change slightly, it was never fast enough to be noticeable - Anonymous

- I had this idea some time ago actually but I thought it was silly but now that the au in ending might as well say it. It doesn't make much sense now with all the new development srry. What if one day Mumbo was callibrating his comunication monstrosity, and suddenly his communicator had signal. He called and called but whoever was a the other side didn't pick up, until they did and Mumbo was overjoyed, but the happiness died down when he could only hear chocked sobs and sharp breathing and (1)teeth chattering. Suddenly a voice whispered, little and fragile "h-h-he-lp". Mumbo knew that voice too well. Before he could even open his mouth to let his best friend he was coming for him, he'd be okay, anything, the breathing stopped. The call was still going, but no one was at the other side anymore, Mumbo hung up with tears in his eyes, and he swore he'd find him and he'd help him. (2) - anonymous

- Scattered AU: While there's still time for them: Mumbo was the furthest Hermit out in the Overworld, & didn't set off for over a year, yet wasn't last to 0,0 (with Iskall) by any stretch. More than half the Hermits seemed to arrive after him. This can be partly attributed to Daisy making good time, but it makes you wonder how many trials & tribulations impeded False, Stress, Cleo and Keralis along the way? How much Ren, Doc & Grian were slowed by Grian's condition? What took xB or Biffa so long? - @/wixelt

- Once everyone finds each other, at the world spawn, after the initial shock, and fixing of the world of course, the hermits all decide to settle much closer to each other. They were separated for quite a while, so it makes sense why they'd decide to keep close. Some groups also make shared bases. - anonymous

- I sort of want grian to be a bit more inhuman so how about grian’s skin on his arms, legs and most of his face permanently blackened by the severe frostbite and the rest of his skin has taken on a bluish tinge, his hair is no longer the Gold it was before but almost snow white with a tinge of dark and light blue, his ears and tail are snow white with what appears to be frost and ice growing on them (1/2)(2/2) grian can not cry because the tears will immediately turned to ice, he can’t swim because if his body touches the water the water will freeze over, his skin is cold to the touch and whatever he moves his body it will make a cracking sounds like breaking glass or smashing ice, no matter how warm it is he can always see his breath... i’m trying to think of more but I’m coming up blank so that’s it hope you like it. - anonymous

- Admins log final day: I'm glad we'll all be able to wake up from this nightmare, and we're able to get an exit portal going thanks to Mango and Methodz having a backup of the key to open the infinity portal's power, we should be able to not only go back in time, but destroy this broken timeline. - Grian, Doc, and Ren find it hard to stay away from each other too long, especially Doc and Ren becuase they've been taking care of Grian for such a long time so they find themselves kinda hovering over him and Grian finds himself seeking them out even when he's with other hermits. - Soon as Grian and Mumbo see each other, they launch themselves at the other and hold on for a long, long time. Iskall join in soon as he wanders by and they talk for hours about what happened, looking over Grian's new fox parts and the blue marks on his hands, Mumbo gray stained hands and magic, and just Iskalls overall experience. Also Grian's little fox buddy absolutely loves Daisy and vice versa. Its not uncommon to see the small fox riding on the ravager's back while Daisy scares people. - Anonymous

- I know I'm a bit out of loop w scattered au & is probably getting things wrong but consider this, when Mumbo accidentally summoned Scar, leaving Bdubs alone, Bdubs freaked out. The very person that meant rescue & hope for him back in the end is now gone, he felt like he's back into the void again and he thought Scar abandoned him because he's too weak & is a burden to Scar. (Yes I am currently drowning in Scardubs angst) - @/anthosaidsmth

- The glitches in the world didn't only happen to the Hermits, it happened to all worlds created in 1.17. The cause remains unknown, though it is believed that something or even someone corrupted/changed the code (what/who is up to imagination. In the case of the latter, so is the motive). My idea, we've already confirmed that Watchers are arrogant jerks so perhaps they couldn't stand the fact that players learned to do things against the rules that they put in place, and did this out of spite. - anonymous

- A bit late but I see all the Fox!Grian headcannons so what if Grian spawned in a jungle and slowly became a parrot hybrid instead? How idk, maybe resorting to eating seeds to prevent himself from starvation because there is no animals in this jungle.

- Here's a thought: The Hels!Hermits were also effected by whatever caused the scattering. They may all hate or annoy each other, but not having each other around to pick on isn't very fun (neither are death loops). Perhaps some of them gain humility over this or learn to be at least a bit nicer to each other and their counterparts. (or some of them find sadistic amusement in their counterpart's miseries) - anonymous

- Finally, once everyone has made it safely to spawn and the problems with the world have been resolved, the season begins. Some of the Hermits may have changed (more than just physically) but over time, they adapt and recover. Grian eventually starts yet ANOTHER war, Tango gets to build DO 2.0 (X is terrified at the fact wardens are involved), and Cleo becomes a coach on 'how to be a mob hybrid' (unless all new hybrids get returned to how they were before by admin powers or just being players). - anonymous

- With all the glitches fixed and all the hermits starting to get back to their normal (Well as normal as it can be after all of these), I wonder if Scar is still a vex. All the hermits just adapted to their situations, but Scar is different, he made a deal with the Vex. - @/anthosaidsmth

- I had a wee idea and it's a little silly but I like hurt/comfort so maybe after all the scattered au events have passed and the hermits are all together living safely, every winter some hermits invite Grian to their bases to take care of him since the snow and the cold are very bad for him. Sometimes he gets fevers but most of the time he just needs a warm blanket and someone to distract him from the snow. This is also making me wonder if Grian could develop chinophobia (fear of the snow). - Anonymous
