to those who have not seen the climax to Dave Tendlar's King of the Mardi Gras: prepare to let some unabashed joy into your life you never knew you needed

#please watch Popeye cartoons if you have not. they're on Boomerang but you can also plug almost all of them into Dailymotion #i really haven't watched more joyful and fun cartoons #they have a lot of great themes about helping out the little guy as well while not being pretentious about it #such as the short preaching 'brotherly love' where Popeye teaches said brotherly love by beating up everyone in sight #i sort of fall off of them after they moved to Miami and lost Mae Questel/Gus Wicke especially in 1938 but i think there are still some #stand outs... 1936-1938 is probably the peak but i enjoy some of the earliest shorts as well #i firmly believe that if you went up to a doctor and said “hey doc i need a prescription for happiness”#said doc would give you one RX bottle of Fleischer Popeye cartoons. they are just the embodiment of pure joy and pure fun #popeye #king of the mardi gras #tendlar #vid
