I watched the mlb movie and caught up w the show so I got au brainrot again 💀 My first post was more silly and had smaller snippets but somehow I got carried away and ended up drawing a lot more than the first time around. I’ll post it in parts tho so I don’t overload one post 🙏

In short, Tim -> likes Conner…but is fond of Superboy? Kon -> likes Robin, but has gotten to know Tim a lot better.

And the timeline/world for this au is a big mishmash of 90s comics/ROTS movie/TT03/2000s comics and headcanons, so in summary for backstory for this post especially:

Superboy - during Superman’s death, he was created at Cadmus (w funding from Lex) and told he was Superman’s clone, even if he is a lot younger and different. Like the comics/my headcanon, he is fascinated by the celebrity life and Lex who promised him he’d be as great as Superman, assigned him Rex Leech who would be his personal agent/pr manager/etc. Lex was kind of like…his funder and sponsor that promoted him as the guy that would give new hope in Supermans absence.

Flash forward to Superman’s return, he decides to go on a world tour/become disillusioned with celebrity life until Clark comes and takes him to the farm and suggests he lives as Conner Kent to get away from the likes of people like Lex and Rex lol. So he’s not connected to them by contract anymore but he will do things out of obligation (like being a bodyguard at a party)

In this au, Lex doesn’t know Conner is Superboy either, and he hasn’t told Kon to what extent he was involved in Kon’s creation (yet…) but he’s hinted at it before

Tim - in this au, he’s also been operating as Robin for a longer time but is recently dealing with also becoming Tim Drake-Wayne and preparing to become the possible successor to Bruce Wayne’s company so that’s why he’s at this fancy party 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I haven’t quite decided how much of his backstory to adapt to this au specifically but he becomes Robin in a similar way as his debut with becoming Robin bc he sees that Batman is lost without one and Batman needs a Robin. By the time this au starts he’s gone to different schools and I guess is going to a new one where Conner is also attending? Also his parents are now dead in this 😔 and he’s very secretive compared to Superboy and is the one that attaches more weight to a secret identity

DC BATFAM FANFIC IDEAS

Bruce not telling anyone in the JL his identity and one day he casually mentions something only an orphan would understand. - The JL members who are orphans understand. The others don't. - The entire JL gets concerned.

Tim's nervous (Read: really scared) around Jason. Jason does not like this and wants to fix it. Wait, why does Bruce glare daggers at Jack Drake? - Jason: I sense child neglect. Dad's already onto it, i see. Ok so how do i use this to get Tim stop fleeing the room whenever i walk in.

Sort of an AU fic where Bruce and Oliver were close friends (Read: brothers and that's what they see each other as) as kids, still as adults, and as vigilantes they work pretty well together, they recognized each other instantly even in cape, and while the the JL doesn't know their identities, each knows the other. - Also they're both autistic and somehow chaos ensues after Flash overhears them talking one day at the Watchtower and now the JL wants to know how these work so well.

Bruce was a wild child and so is Damian.

The first days of Tim's being Robin. Bruce and Dick are concerned, while, oblivious, Tim is doing things that only neglected kids do. He is surprised others care. Dick sets out to change this.

AU where Jack ends up being a crap dad. Bruce has had enough and steals legal custody. - Bruce: Well you had one chance at being a dad and you blew it. - Bruce: Tim's my kid now. - Jack can't do anything about this. To Tim, Jack is 'Father'. Bruce is 'Dad'.

Some of the villains notice that the other vigilantes and even Red Robin himself like joking that 'RR's folks don't even notice that he practically lives at our place, they won't notice him sneaking back in at 2AM'. - Until one day they joke about 'RR's dad blew it. B took legal custody'.

Flash has ADHD but tells no one. The other see the signs tho. Batman calls him out on hiding it. Why Bat? Welp, the other nominated him. GA joins his autistic buddy tho.

This isn't Batfam but Billy/Captain Marvel accidentally drops some street child stuff. The League, of course, pick it up.

Bruce has trust issues. No specific event- just it was that way after his folks died. The JL figures it out that it's not just how he is, he just generally doesn't trust people. They figure out that something happened to make him this.

The JL has to come to Gotham for a mission. They have to stakeout in a graveyard. At some point while they still have a few hours, Batman slips off. When *insert any JL member(s)* find him, he's standing above two graves. They catch him saying "Hope you're proud, Mom, Dad." - Chaos ensues from this.

Kid!Dick has a nightmare. Bruce allows his kid to spend the night with him.

Cass gets into a fight with David Cain. She is shaken. Bruce is there for her, though.

Duke has a nightmare.

Tim tries to sneak outside after having a nightmare. Bruce catches him because he's a Dad. He sensed a disturbance in the force. Anyway instead of getting mad he makes it clear who Dick learned it from and tickles Tim to bits and then carries him back to bed lol.

Fic Fairy Friday: Tim and Jason Brotherhood

I love Jason and Tim, they're hands down the most chaotic and petty people in their entire family. I wish they'd be teamed up more often in the comics because every time they do the snark and sass is everywhere!

Unfortunately the Batfam fandom has developed a lot of misconceptions about their past and relationship. The main misconceptions are thinking Jason hates Tim and what happened during their fight in Titan's Tower. Fandom thinks Jason came there to murder his replacement and Tim was ruthlessly beaten down and begged for his hero to stop. In reality, Jason had grown to hate the very idea of Robin (a child soldier fighting and dying for Batman's neverending war) and came to Titan's Tower to convince Tim to quit as well as to prove to himself that Tim wasn't better than him and that Bruce didn't just trade up for a better Robin when Jason died. When talking didn't work he decided that to save this kid's life (and prove to himself that he wasn't just an inferior failure) he was going to MAKE him quit.

But if Batman, Alfred, and Lady Shiva can't control Tim Drake Jason didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell so Tim put up a hell of a fight and even when he was bleeding on the floor, barely conscious but always happy to be petty and go for the low blow, he went out hitting Jason where it hurt by defiantly stating that even beaten and bloody he is STILL better than Jason. They've long since patched things up between them, tho, and more than once in the comics Jason has made it clear that Tim is his most trusted brother. There was even that period just before Tim became RR where Jason was trying to recruit Tim to be HIS Robin so Jason could be gun!Batman and Tim was so annoyed and done with him lol. I do still enjoy the accidental brother or woobie Tim fics and will probably link a few exceptional ones here and there but I'd love to see more fics with the two being equals that trust and rely on each other, too.

Momo's Notes: These boys need SO MUCH THERAPY! Tim and Jason are trapped underneath a collapsed building, Tim is slowly bleeding out, and Jason has been cursed to sacrifice himself to help power up a spell. So of course being robins they're going to remain calm, work together, and not spend their precious little oxygen arguing, right? Right? Oh goddammit boys!

Life in the Fast Lane by TheResurrectionist

Summary:

“So, let me get this straight,” Dick said, frowning, “You stole a car, kidnapped Tim, got in a high-speed chase, stole another car, fought a bunch of cartel members, and blew up a chop shop...all to get a minivan back?” “First of all, Timothy was a willing participant,” Jason said, crossing his arms, “And when you put it like that, it sounds bad.” “Jason, it sounds bad no matter how I put it!”

Momo's Notes: It's both refreshing and incredibly funny to see Tim and Jason just being normal brothers that annoy the shit out of each other while they're stealing cars and trying to take down asshole gangs out of costume. This entire fic is just chaotic shenanigans and It's so fun.

After rescuing Bruce from floating around the past, Tim is Not Okay. What comes next after losing everything that really matters? Tim’s got some thoughts. So do the rest of the family. And Ra’s al Ghul. …And the Joker. Momo's Notes: I know I recommended this one for the Dick and Tim brotherhood recs but this story revolves around the three oldest batbrothers and has equally good characterization and interactions for Jason as it did with Dick. Jason's pov pages are some of the most witty and fun in the whole story and the brotherhood that forms between Tim and Jason over the course of this fic is unique.

Momo's Notes: An AU where Jason calmed the hell down before returning to Gotham, both Batman and Nightwing go missing, and Tim doesn't know who this new Red Hood guy is but statistics don't lie, he's making a positive difference in Gotham. That makes him the PERFECT candidate to take over as Batman until they can find him. Jason can't believe ANY of these idiots survived while he was "gone"

Momo's Notes: There are no words for how much I love Batfamily shenanigans and Tim and Jason are always the perfect combo for said chaotic shenanigans! Basically Tim and Jason's version of brotherly bonding is to stage fake kidnappings to get Tim out of whatever soul-sucking responsibility he desperately wants to escape from today starting with a board meeting on a day the chronic pain is especially horrific. This fic also has queer and trans batfam which makes it just chef's kiss

Little Red and the Big Bad Hood by CrzyFun

Summary:

Olivia Draper had been a good idea at first. She could pass for older than Tim could pull off while masculine and women really could get into places easier if they had a pretty face. With makeup and some stylish-yet-inexpensive clothes, Olivia could pull off most undercover ops. She was Tim’s Matches Malone. Then Hood had shown up on the scene. When Jason met Olivia, he hadn't intended to pull a Bruce and take the scrappy teen informant under his wing. She just kept showing up where he was doing business. He had no other choice than to keep an eye on her. And kit her out with armor so she wouldn't accidentally get shot. And make sure she was being treated fairly by her mysterious boss. And, okay, maybe become her big brother.

Momo's Notes: I love a good fic with a genderfluid Tim Drake! This is an au where Tim decided his main alternate ID to gather info would be Olivia Draper rather than Alvin. Cue Red Hood getting very annoyed at the obviously underaged girl sneaking into clubs full of dangerous gangsters. This one is a fun accidental enemy to caretaker with a chaotic and sassy Tim that knows he can get on Hood's every nerve with zero consequences with bonus outraged and annoyed Stephanie!

Summary:

Running a large portion of the Gotham underground as a benevolent crime lord was harder than Jason thought it would be, but still well within the range of what he could handle. Momo's Notes: This is technically part 42 of a series kind of generically called "Collected Bat-Family Stories" that are actually all set in the same AU. Last Laugh is an amazing entry in the series that can be read as a stand alone fic but I'd honestly recommend going into the series page and starting from the beginning. There are fics in there that aren't Tim or Jason-centric but it's all part of one narrative and Tim and Jason are really the main characters of the whole series and it's so fun to watch their brotherhood grow and deepen. If you're a fan of Wayne Family Adventures I think you'll love this one since the characterizations are very similar imho (aside from Damian but he's slowly growing as a person over the story and will eventually get there).

Thinking about a malevolent x venom crossover. Eddie is still an investigative reporter, but in 1930's San Francisco. He's investigating a cult that's been kidnapping homeless people for sacrifices. His previous investigations led to him getting his fiance fired from her secretary/cleaning? Job under Carlton Drake(the head of this cult). Finds out that this fucker managed to summon several eldritch entities, and gets it into his head to try and bond them with humans in order to unlock the secrets of the universe and tap into their knowledge. Eddie breaks in, gets bonded to venom, and honestly I think the story progresses mostly the same as the movie from there on out, except you know. 1930's call of Cthulhu themed. Cut a few years in the future to when Arthur's in New York. Eddie is also there doing investigation into the Order of the Fallen Star. Somewhat because venom wanted to check out his home city, some what because people where starting to become a bit panicked about the amount of headless or otherwise eaten bodies they've been leaving behind in San Fran, and they needed to leave to draw some of the heat away. They end up meeting Arthur and Jon, and after some very funny massive amounts of suspicion on both their parts, they end up teaming up for some cult busting. Imma be honest given the prison pit Arthur cannot rightfully judge anyone for cannibalism driven by necessity. This will not stop him from judging tho lol. But I think he could vibe with the only eating very bad people thing. He and Jon end up playing judge, jury, and executioner often enough for it.

Damian Wayne

So, Damian as you can see in my previous post, I colored his skin pretty pink. That's because I wanted him to be one of those kids that got darker as they grow older. You know ? Those babies that look like dumplings and got super tan afterwards? 🤭 Just imagine Damian after taking off his cowl and got a tan line around his mouth,lol.

Yellowhedgehog, where is Damian's green signature color?

I think he got his color as green because of his eyes or because of the Al-Ghul color.

But listen, our boy Damian falls out with his best friend *ahem* (which he will deny) due to Joker. So, I don't think he would even want to be near green.

Thus, I made him a color which contradict green, which is red. Which is also the color of his hero moniker, Cardinal, the bird.

Why Cardinal? That moniker was mainly used for Tim in his fandom.

Well, Cardinal is a bird that in some belief represents an angel that guide souls.

Damian's character development in this AU is to become one with Gotham, work with her and not against her, even though he wasn't originally from Gotham.

After Tim and Joker incident, he got it pretty bad because his best friend although survived, their friendship died. Since there was no physical body to bury it , he carries it in his moniker, likes a Cardinal is said to guide souls to a better place.

It will make sense later on when I introduce Jason and Dick.

Tim Drake

Yes, I made Tim bald, or like a fade bald? Yes, there is a reason.

After 3 days of captivity in the hand of Joker, the drug that he got injected makes his hair grow green for several years. Tim didn't like that. He didn't like hearing Joker's laughter in his head or be reminded of Joker when he saw the J Joker carved into his skin.

So he took back control the only way he could think of. He torched himself on his cheek to let it be a reminder that he survived Joker and not because Joker lost interest in him after the madman successfully got Batman's attention.

He buzzes off his hair because he will not let Joker controls him when he looks into the mirror and see someone who is not him.

So yeah, I hope that explanation brings answer.

Why is Tim's color the same as Nightwing?

I made Tim's color dark blue, but I'm not sure what color will represent Dick yet.

Blue is associated with green to some aspect. They are close to each other on the color spectrum. So why doesn't Tim chose a color far from Joker?

In physic, there are three main colors, Red, Green and Blue.

So my thought process was, Since a blue filter absorbs green and red, its perfect for Tim.

And while Joker's color represents craziness and chaos, Tim's dark blue represents calmness and stability. (Can anyone guess what Tim's future will be?😏)

Therefore, I made Tim, blue so he can swallow Joker whole.

What are some small details you also add to Tim and Damian?

There's no way it might come up in the plot but!

Damian has finally got a pet! It's not a dog tho! It's a hedgehog! *Nervous chuckle in self-insert*

Tim got addicted to cigarettes. This is because he uses nicotine to relieve stress and to ease his phantom pain from Joker's torture. He is trying to quit tho, cus Damian don't like smokers around the children.

Remember the goldfish in Part 1? Tim still has it! He named it D.A.L.F (Danger.Avoided.Lucky.Fish). He thinks it suiting because the goldfish was save from Damian's hand. Tim built a whole ecosystem for his goldfish. He took the goldfish when he moved away too.

Those are all the details I have thought up for now.

What I liked:

lots of humor, especially in the 4/4 part I laughed non-stop, although I must admit that a lot of the laughter was from second-hand embarrassment 🙈

Great and Inn are just beautiful (it's good that Great has loose clothes now, I was always worried about the buttons on his super tight uniform in MoD, fighting for their lives)

Thor and Fluke are also lovely, I really like the fact that their characters are already a couple and are completely in love with each other (and horny for each other 🔥) and so open about it

side characters add a lot to scenes, even if they appear for a moment, like a salesman offering technical advice on sex, or a doctor who sprays water on naughty subordinates, also nurses!

I really like Dee as a doctor, as an employee who doesn't let himself be treated like shit by clients and as a friend. He is nice, strong, confident, reliable and capable. Which is in stark contrast to how hopeless and lame he is in his love and sex life 🙈

I like how Yak and Dee felt an immediate physical attraction to each other, which is fighting against an equally immediate strong dislike lol The natural flow they have in their relationship: from physical attraction, through fights caused by negative circumstances, to the night spent together shows that this kind of relationship can be done, without humiliation bordering on bullying, as it's between Phum and Peem in We Are

I really like Yak who can just… stop when he has any suspicion that his partner is not fully in the moment, not fully sure. It was so cool, no forcing Dee to continue by putting pressure on him, making him feel "guilty", no awkwardness, complete chill. I like it when sex is treated so casually that even if nothing happens, the partners just sit and talk and there is no sense of pressure, everything is just so... normal and chill. I loved it.

Kao as a friend, a sidekick, a "token lgbt friend of the main character" 😄, who has his own life and although he is very funny, he is not a serial clown and comic relief, as is often the case. And he is asexual with credible dating problems. So interesting! Also: Drake 💖

I feel kind of vindictive happy that my most hated trope, wiping food from the mouth of the "love interest", is shown here as messing with Dee and giving him false hope for a relationship (?) The day this trope dies will be the day I win. I plan to get drunk when this happen hehe (vain hopes, of course, this disgusting trope will never die)

What I have a few, teeny-tiny reservations about:

at this point I don't really understand Ter's motivation: was he deliberately seducing Dee, or was he just too chummy with him, which he misinterpreted? Not that it matters tho...

I also don't really like making Dee a silly kid and a 🤡 when it comes to love and sex, especially since he's shown in other scenes where he's a full adult. He's a grown man with a serious profession, so it felt weird watching him as if he were a 15-year-old kid in a slapstick comedy. I get that there's a comedic element to it and it was funny and I was laughing, but the amount of cringe and second-hand embarrassment was downright overwhelming at some point. What is fine as convention in MSP or Only Boo no longer looks so good in series about adults

Overall, the series started well, I had a great time watching it, I laughed a lot, the characters are cool and very attractive, Great has the body of a young god 🔥 I can't wait for their first kiss and a truly hot night - with fun, but no comedy. What a wasted opportunity for them not to watch MANNER OF DEATH and the uniform buttons! hanging for dear life! Like seriously, it was right there 😤

omg this is so funny because I prefer Damian over TIm. I think because he reminds me so much of my cat lol.

but yeah, I hate Damian/Tim stans that absolutely despise the other character with all of their heart. Like, they're both justified in not liking each other at first and I think that Damian was just doing what he was taught. Damian fucked up but he's still a kid and wanted the approval of the grown ups around him, and Tim is not unreasonable for not getting along with Damian right after he tried to kill him. Idk, I like the dynamic where they grow really close as brothers (tho they will never admit it to anyone, not even themselves)

I actually want to draw more canon Damian because I do love him very much, and I'm trying to capture him in Adopted Damian. But it's hard because C!Damian was raised as a heir and son of the bat and has a lot of pride, while A!Damian was raised in the foster care system where his caretakers wanted him out of sight and out of mind.

work i’m most proud of (and why): okay so this is a tie between penance and plea for two completely opposite reasons! penance is the first multichap fic i've ever completed and that's a huge milestone for me. plea i'm really proud of bc it's only 100 words but i feel like i managed to accomplish absolutely everything i wanted to and it's sooooooo satisfying to me.

work i’m least proud of (and why): hmmmmm. maybe inventory? it was supposed to be fluff and i corrupted it. so that frustrates me when i think about it even though the finished product isn't bad.

share or describe a favorite review you received: oh gosh ummmmm. help. i really loved every comment letting me know they'd cried real tears bc i am Evil. but if i had to choose one comment, i think this one has stuck with me the most (some parts blocked out bc Spoilers)

the fic has an ending spoiler now that it's complete, but when i was posting it i hadn't totally nailed the ending down. that apprehension meant so much to me, that willingness to follow the story- i could be reading into it idk, but i really value the trust that early readers had because, quite frankly, i don't think i had earned it. i also loved that they both couldn't decide what to think about tim and that they liked it- what i was portraying is messy and complicated and i think there's a really fine line there between stuff being ooc or frustrating or exhausting or dissatisfying with that kind of thing, so it was super !!!!! to have successfully walked that line for them!

but my favorite part of this comment is easily "the power of love is truly an ugly and beautiful thing...made me appreciate life". i don't really write romances, but the power of love is one of those things i end up wrestling with thematically a lot because it's just so captivating and it's one of those things i feel like i can't ever find the words for actually, i need you to just feel it and they felt it and- yeah. just yeah. and then writing/storytelling is something i use to help me appreciate life so overall just 🥹😭🫶 x1000

a time when writing was really, really hard: after i finished penance, rip. i got psyched out by all the positive attention and couldn't write 😅. there were plenty of times this year where i just wasn't trying to write so like i guess that was hard, but being paralyzed by overthinking when i had plenty of ideas and wanted to write Sucked. it's okay, i talked to my therapist finger guns

a scene or character you wrote that surprised you: slight penance spoilers lol, but in ch 3, the dick and tim hug surprised me. not that it happened, bc i knew it was going to, but i just had the image of the scene, yk, not like. how it would truly feel to be in dick's headspace in that moment. and omg. it just attacked me. i couldn't stop crying it was so frustrating. i'd pause to collect myself, come back and just nope. the scene is actually shorter than i originally envisioned bc i physically couldn't smh

a favourite excerpt of your writing: oh gosh. um um ummmmmm i really like this bit from ch 1 of penance-

this moment was just incredibly fun for so many reasons, not least of which is that i got to break tim for the first time 😇

how did you grow as a writer last year: i learned that i can, in fact, start and finish something that isn't a one shot. idk if my writing has improved on a technical level at all? but, despite it being a bit of a one step forward, two steps back thing at times, i do think i gained some confidence in my ability to write and that'll be really nice in the long run if i can, yk. take the steps forward without going back.

how do you hope to grow this year: by writing more. i want to actually write things instead of daydreaming and maybe getting down like twenty words and then never looking at it again. at my most ambitious, i build a habit.

who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer, beta, cheerleader, etc.): oh shoot. i got so much support from so many people i almost don't know where to start. i am so beyond grateful to everyone who has supported me, and i'm going to single out @a-canceled-stamp, @canonicallyshort, and @koraesrambles for enabling the crap out of me. love you guys sm!!!! How much have you tweaked your OCs through the years? Or have you changed them at all? Whether it's subtle pushes and pulls of sliders or trying out new presets or overlays. etc Have your OCs slowly evolved through time?

Hey nonny!!! You know its funny because the only thing I've probably done is gave a body preset to Indya and a nose job. For years, tho, people asked if it was a preset and it wasnt, she was just gaining weight in the game and I'd give her tummy tucks so the thickness stayed in her hips/ass/thighs where Darren wanted it. As for Darren, I have used the arm width slider on him but it really wasn't needed since his arms were already maxed. He got a new skin overlay at some point too. Fun fact is Indya is using the same skin overlay I made her with in 2015 lol. Sims4models used to be the go-to for skins. Recently I played around with different overlays in CAS on her but I couldn't bring myself to change it, I think she's perfect as she is.

I usually tweak to hell and back but with the Drakes I never changed much. Everyone else is still the same, even Jerri who is also rockin the same overlay from 2015 lol its wild when I think about it.

Drake Caggiula, Oilers, 2016-18: Everyone portrays him eating all this healthy stuff and he tries to portray that he eats super healthy. But we’ll go to a restaurant and someone will order a burger and fries and he’ll order some gluten-free meal – and then he’s always looking over. “Can I have a fry?” Then he’s reaching over and grabbing a fry. You order a Coke and he’ll order a water. Then he’ll say, “Can I have a sip of your Coke?” He’s always digging into everyone’s unhealthy stuff. We called him “The Crane” because he’s always craning over everybody and taking their food off their plate. Every time we’re on the plane, we’d have some junk food. He’s reaching over trying to snag it. It was every flight, pretty much. I enjoy a nice glass of Coke on the plane and maybe a bag of Sour Patch Kids or something like that. He’d have some healthy PowerBar. Then, all of a sudden, all my candy would be gone because he’d be eating it. That’s “The Crane” for you.

Taylor Hall, Oilers, 2015-16: The thing about Connor is he’s pretty straight-edged and it’s hard to catch him at an awkward time. But there was one thing that I found pretty funny. It was after I got traded. He slept in a king-sized bed just a couple doors down from me on the top level in my house in Edmonton, and he really liked the bed. And after I got traded, my house was still there, everything was still in the house in Edmonton and he said, “Hey, I’d like to buy that bed from you.” And I said, “Yeah, no problem. Go pick it up whenever you want, and we’ll figure out the money afterwards.” And he was driving a smaller SUV at the time, and in his head, he thought he could fit the king-sized bed in that SUV. The reason I found it funny is because he’s probably one of the smartest guys I’ve ever been around. He can pick up a new card game, you know, like that. When you talked to him about anything in hockey, he was so well-versed in what was going on. But I guess when you’ve never moved a bed in your life or anything like that, you don’t realize how big they are and just how hard they are to move. Hall: Another one I remember is when he bought his first watch. He didn’t have a cheque book, so one of the guys had to write a cheque for him to cover the cost, and then he paid him back.

Milan Lucic, Oilers, 2016-19: He doesn’t watch superhero movies. I don’t know why. He’s never seen ‘Batman’ or anything like that. He’s not into sci-fi. That was pretty funny because for our generation, if you look at the highest-grossing movies at the box office, it’s usually like ‘Spider-Man’ or ‘The Avengers’ or something like that. But he takes a stand and he’s pretty strong on it. I even tried to get him to watch ‘Deadpool’. That’s a little different — it’s more of an action-comedy than it is a superhero movie — but he still wouldn’t watch it.

i can vouch for pretentiousness, i think it’s the bravest thing you can do. i just wonder WHYYYYYYYYYY like is it bc of that black/white thinking thing his teachers said about him? like no skill for artz and crafts or the humane humanities. the “not into sci-fi” it’s because he used to be so more pedantic i feel

Josh Morrissey, Canada, 2013 under-18s; 2014 and 2015 world juniors: You can’t not love this guy. He just has that type of personality. Here you have probably the best player in the world and he’s always working hard, but he’s extremely humble and a good teammate. It was the U18 and he was basically a double underage — he just finished his 15-year-old season, his exceptional status year. He comes into that team and in my experiences playing with him, he was most of the time the youngest guy on the team and he was one of the leading forces, as a character leader in the room but also on the ice, of course. Just a guy who is a great teammate and you’re really happy for him to have the success that he has.

this is leon’s boyfriend from juniors/prince alberts i think. which is so crasy to think about first how insular it is and how at that point connor had already played with a teammate of leon’s. and also the difference because to this day leon says they’re still good friends #WHLforever but then connor had a bunch of OHL buddies that he keeps pretty close to his chest. nary a sincere quote. which is his usual m.o but i like to exaggerate and say that he’s alienated from all of them. hope this helps

Nobody asked but here's my headcanon on Gladstone's guardians as he grew up

Like most Gladstone Stans I do subscribe the Daphne-Goosetave parentage, including the bit where he ends up orphaned, and like any proper Gladstone Angst Enjoyer, Sign of The Triple Distelfink and his unlucky birthday are part of it.

And then for a long time I figured he lived with Grandma Duck and Gus until suddenly he didn't and he was with Ludwig, but then I read the skies of farm town.

I enjoy the Farm Town Stories on their own; I don't really ship Gladstone with girls, tho, so the love interest storyline doesn't factor into most of my headcanons.

What did wriggle into my brain, tho, is Olivia Duck. Introduced as a Maternal Aunt who Also has the miraculous Good Luck. The comic posits that she raised Gladstone, until a turning point when he hit a certain age where their Luck began to counteract each other, turning him unlucky around her, at which point she moved far away. In the present she also has. Awkward relationships with her relatives.

Anyway that felt perfect lol. Adding a sister for Daphne to not only balance out the gender ratio of Grandma's kids, but also Olivia's departure giving an opening for a custody transition for whatever reason onto Matilda McDuck and/or Ludwig Von Drake

So now my hc/nearly-oc version of Olivia is like. Daphne's twin sister, both being given the luck of the Triple Distelfink. But while Daphne is more subdued and modest about her fortune, Olivia...isn't Gladstone levels of arrogant, but she's much more pragmatic. And honestly it just feels right that one of Elvira's kids felt stifled on the farm vs in the big city and flew the coop ...

...until she hears word abt her sister's death, leaving behind a young nephew with the same magic luck. And then she's moved, not all the way back to the farm, but to nearby Duckburg, to raise him.

Until their respective lucks go haywire around each other, and for maximum angst potential let's hc that to happen when he's just around 13. And she feels it's best for his own safety that she get as far away from him as possible.

Leaving Grandma with a young traumatized teen with attachment issues, and limited support beyond her daughter-in-law's sister, who has a good friend who, well...
