mmm throwaway conversation between Dan and Danny that popped into my head that I had to write out:

"You spent ten years being a one-man mass extinction event, then went back in time and fought me, and lost." Danny snarls, arms crossed and throat tight. His mouth pulls back to bare dagger-sharp teeth, and his eyes burn with the familiar thrum of ectoplasm heating up behind his eyes. "If I didn't believe you were half of Vlad before, I do now."

His other self -- and really, can he even call him that? He's half of Vlad too. Two halves severed from each other and welded together to make a new whole, -- snaps his head over to him. Wild-eyed and furious, he looks unlike the man Danny fought before, the one unruffled and untouched, unbothered by the world around him. It's familiar, but not like the way a reflection is.

"What's that supposed to mean." The Other hisses, matching Danny's scowl one-for-one with fangs much bigger and sharper than his.

But there's a reason lions fear hyenas. Danny matches the rumble in The Other's chest with one of his own, and shoves his face close to his. "I don't lose."

jealousy really is the driving force of DamiTim as a ship. love that for them. love how Tim has the Robin mantle ripped away from him and he has to suffer the jealousy of watching Dick and Damian bond. how possessive over Dick Tim can be, to have him stolen by Dick.

even more so though, is the jealousy from Damian. how on earth do you cope when you finally get to be Robin, a role you've convinced is your birthright, and no one really likes you? every prefers the Robin who came before you? Dick regularly reminds you that he can always go and call Tim back when you act out? like the complex Damian has over Tim is unreal. Tim, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had everything handed to him his whole life. he never had to struggle or fight for his place like Damian did. Damian has spent his whole life fighting and proving himself, and yet he can't ever seem to truly claw the mantle of Robin away from Tim. even when Tim lets it go, becomes Red Robin, they seem to share it. Tim can slip back into the role of Robin whenever someone like Dick or Bruce need him to, because *he's* the Robin who they need. he's the Robin who was able to find Bruce. he's the Robin that Ra's wants an heir out of. he's the Robin who even Jason respects. in Damian's eyes, everything Damian has fought tooth and nail for, was handed to Tim.

so of course he's going to react to Tim with violence and aggression, especially after finding out Tim has contingency plans for him. no matter how much Damian proves himself, he's never going to be enough, especially not to Tim. and so his deep refusal to see Tim as family, to acknowledge Tim's legacy is all driven by such an angry jealousy. Tim understands aspects of Bruce's legacy that Damian doesn't, like the need to sweet talk and play nice with the elites of Gotham, even if they're corrupt. they exemplify different aspects of Robin, and the aspects that Tim exemplifies are the aspects that Damian knows he'll never fully understand and therefore holds such a deep contempt for. he wants to fight criminals, not play nice with politicians. Tim understands the side of Gotham that's utterly foreign to Damian. if anything, he represents that side of Gotham, to Damian. a pretty little rich boy who's nothing but a know-it-all and not a real son of Bruce. he can't be a Wayne. he can't be Damian's family.

and all of that angry jealousy leading to unhealthy obsession turned a weird, angry crush from Damian is just my bread and butter. that is how DamiTim should be. to me. Damian obsessed over hating Tim Drake so much he accidentally ends up sort of in love with him and that only makes Damian angrier. because he can't prove everyone right by *also* liking Tim. he can't let Ra's win like that, because frankly why wouldn't Ra's be delighted by Damian and Tim getting together. and it builds and builds with angry passive aggression towards Tim that culminates in angry hate-fucking-that's-not-just-driven-by-hate. love and hate are always viewed as opposites in shipping and i think they're the same intense passion just in different directions. and for the best ships, they're very intertwined. what is DamiTim is not the peak of that. "i put so much of myself into hating you i had no choice but to fall in love with you somewhere along the way" core. love that bleeds into hate and hate that bleeds into love. "you make me so angry i regularly passively try to kill you but not with any real effort because who would i obsess over if you were actually gone" core. murder attempts as a form of courting. contingency plans to take each other out as a love language. they're unwell.

I don’t know how to explain any more clearly that it doesn’t MATTER if it seems legitimate to you. You have got to fact check every single headline and post and claim on the left just like you need to do on the right.

The left is NOT immune to misinformation and rushed reporting. And the more emotionally polarizing or shocking the talking points, sound bytes, and headlines are, the worse it is and more frequently it happens.

Learn to verify through multiple independent sources. If you can’t do that, you can’t trust it.

If you have to wait extra hours for the real information to come through vetted channels—NOT just one individual somewhere everyone links to, and not just one single media source either, EVEN if it’s a major news network—thats just how it has to be. What news outside of genuine local disasters near you TRULY needs your outrage and post-sharing in the next hour specifically?

Misinformation works best by not seeming like misinformation and by fitting in with the rest of what you already expect to see. It doesn’t help anyone to not be able to recognize and avoid the stuff.

okay i know im team chaotix centered but god dAMN i am shaking screaming crying after the sonic 3 trailer it was sososo good

one thing that i am actually nervous for though is how paramount is going to take shadow and tails's relationship in the third movie

now i KNOW that in the trailer shadow pulled one of his kicks on tails again but yknow. he beat the shit sonic and knuckles too. i dont think its that personal as everyone thinks. i'd argue he hurt sonic and knuckles even MORE than tails: the fox just got a simple kick while sonic got SLAMMED into the air and knuckles got his wrist bones gone. reduced to atoms.

i just hope. HOPE. that they dont give shadow and tails that stupid fucking beef between eachother like in some sonic media. i know shadow just spent most of his life in a pod for 50 years and just went through immense emotional pain and trauma but i genuinely do not think that shadow is immature and or irrational enough to hold a forever grudge towards a kind-hearted child he barely knows. he's an antagonist, not a monster

ALSO about amy and rouge not being in this movie (god DAMN you paramount write a fucking WOMAN for ONCE PLEASE) im also hoping that MAYYYBE possibly that tails might be the one who reminds shadow of maria (if they'll include something similar to sa2) because sonic just. i dont see him being a parallel to maria at all im sorry and i think why knux wont is obvious. also the fact that tails has a bunch of similarites to maria (blonde hair, blue eyes, in the child stages, innocent, love for science, calm and mature-like etc etc) ALSO another reason for why the shadow and tails beef shouldnt have happened in the first place

i am clinging onto the slight dynamic changes sega has been making with shadow and tails over the years as i manifest their friendship in the third movie (the shadow the hedgehog game where they both fight alongside eachother and consider one another allys, mosth where tails and shadow talk with eachother and banter casually, that one tailstube video where tails INTENTIONALLY gives shadow a gift i am still weeping happy tears over that)

tails could even be what makes shadow slowly trust in familial love again after his heart's been shattered back at the ark

The hater in me wants to come out and play today, so like, I think it's amazing the way that I ended up demonized here. I got death threats, got called every name in the book, got harassed to the point of considering deactivating multiple times a day, got blamed for shit I didn't even know was happening, got sent multiple disturbing fics including shit ranging from Eddie sa'ing Buck to killing Chris, all this while dealing with serious health issues, and before I fully started to post anti shit, but I guess I deserved it because I was mean to canonically bigoted fictional character, right?

One of the things I love most about Yellowjackets is how it shows the natural oscillation people will slip into in times of crisis, revolving from person to person in a desperate bid for someone to help them survive a hellish situation. They start, naturally, with Ben: the only adult in the room. And, when he starts to fail them, they glance off of Jackie--who is processing her own terror and grief in ways that do not serve the hive team, so who's next? Lottie, of course! Lottie, who has visions, who seems to just know things, who feels preternaturally powerful in a place where less and less makes sense, where starvation is hollowing both body and mind. And when Lottie tries to shuffle backward away from this, because she is unwell, because she does not want their obsessive focus, because she never really wanted it--who's next? Natalie. Natalie, who has been the steadfast foil to Lottie's ethereal tendencies. Natalie, who fixes what she can whenever she can: be it gathering Travis' father's ring, or making maps, or bringing back game. Natalie, who is solid as the ground--or so it seems. Not because she actually is, just like Lottie is not a true messiah, just like Jackie is not innately more capable due to her captainship, just like Ben is not necessarily going to save anyone just because he's over 21. But because the girls need someone. They need to fixate to stay alive. They need a leader, because that gives them someone to look to, not because the leader will actually make a real difference.

So: if Natalie starts to show cracks...of course they'll turn on her. Of course they will. It's only natural to seek out someone, anyone, who might save you. No wonder they build a religion. No wonder they need a queen.

Heavy be the head that wears that goddamn crown. Always.

Thinking about it some more. I’m scarcely on the GT side of fandoms despite having my own Borrower AU, and it’s taken some time for me to realize why I just can’t click with the vast majority of them nowadays.

The entire fandom’s take on Borrowers is far too sanitized. These were books and movies about people who hurt no one and were hurt by everyone, simply because they were vulnerable targets. It’s a story about extinction of an entire group of people, fighting back against those who seek to dehumanize, and refugees getting attacked and relocating time and time and time again.

It’s about genocide. Point blank. It’s about refusal to be mistreated. And as cute as the handhelds and cuddles are, I never see anyone garner any buildup to it. Something which in world would be a horrific power exchange and ultimate act of trust is treated like an average Tuesday.

This isn’t saying Borrower AUs HAVE to be dark! I love the cute fluffy shit; I eat it up. But if your characters are specifically “Borrowers,” within that universe vs general tinies, there is a major message I feel is being massively ignored by the community. It makes the fluff more powerful; there’s more obstacles to take. It’s like a little kiss at the end of a season’s angst; building up slowly to that comfortability. I’m by no means here to attack the softies; I just feel like there’s… more substance at the end of the day. I wish there was more plot exploration about learning to trust again.
