#I'd rather not clutter the caption so I'll ramble a little in the tags #HitW is short but special to me as it represents and encapsulates some hard life experiences I was going through at the time of its creatio #Ofc in a more metaphorical manner! but. I have been very much enjoying reading people's comments and speculation as its been posting #the interpretations are so meaningful and varied and i love that and really want to encourage anyone to reflect on what it means to them #for me making this comic was a way to process and move past trauma. i feel like it ends anti-climactically but i wanted to be true to #where i thought things were actually going in my life moreso than to veer towards impact. ultimately im glad i managed to finish it #and for it to finish going public right before the new year? maybe i can see this as shedding that old pain in time to become something new #so thank you for reading for supporting and for still being here. lets wake up to 2025 with wind in our sails #Home in the Woods #my art #my comics #original comic #cw guns #cw blood #cw body horror

#my uncle is so damn depressed he keeps trying to die.#my bio dad beat the fuck out of my mom (trauma erased that from my memory) and HE'S fucked up #my adopted dad (bio dad's cousin) has severe anxiety (from mostly being blamed for his mom getting shot)#my mom has some kind of fucked up (she is unrelated to my dad but still)#my brother was fucked up... like #tell me #tell me it isn't hereditary #everyone has some kind of addiction (except me and my mom)#yeah so.... it turns out that not only was I almost kidnapped. but the man who tried to take me beat my mom... often #like... My grandaddy (rest his soul) was about to shoot a mother fucker -if he had a gun on him #shit #my bio dad's BROTHER wanted to kill him because Bio Dad was beating on my mom BEFORE i was born #how do I know I'm not a rape baby??? now that I think about it... bc rape is an extension of violence #and my half siblings wanna know why I want nothing to do with them?#everytime one tries to talk to me she always starts about bio dad. i do not want to know him #im especially not too keen on talking to people who drag my mom (based on lies but still)#*I* was the one who cut contact. #from the dumbasses themselves #a little ramble i thought while drawing this #None of them are particularly religious. Perkeo specially. They could not care less. But the boys had Christmas events at the pizzaplex #They helped the children draw Christmas trees to show their parents. Helped the little ones make ornaments to put in their trees at home #They had to advertise for the Christmas specials through the plex #So when they finally had the freedom to choose how to spend their holidays #the boys decided they wanted to give it a go themselves #if only to see what it was all about. I think the effects of leaving a fandom unsupervised for too long needs to be studied

#watching the svsss fandom explode with skincreatures again like a scientist in a lab #interesting... interesting.....#the fact that svsss made it so high onto the tumblr rankings this year despite getting absolutely no new content #makes me think it was all the fandom's doing #and therefore makes me think it can be blamed on the skincreatures #which is. so insane.#there is something truly special about the svsss fandom #which i think is a combination of factors #namely that the source material is the freaks and sickos book made for freaks and sickos (said with affection. im one of those sickos)#so the fandom is already primed for weird content #and then an absolute drought of new official content for several years means the fandom is left to its own devices #meaning people will make their own new content to be insane about #and for some reason. that is skincreatures.#i really can't help but wonder what people who aren't in the svsss fandom think whenever they see those things lol

I love how people's response to critiques about the companions not noticing or being supportive of Rook's mental health is "you're too stupid" and "you don't understand the game like I do" and "here's my headcanon why you're wrong."

Why are y'all doing all the heavy lifting for the writing and then giving all the credits to the writing.

"Emmrich is taking you to the graveyard to help with Varric's death."

WHERE IN THE TEXT DOES IT SAY THAT. Does Emmrich even know how close Rook was to Varric? That's a nice headcanon to infer, and it would make a LOT of sense. But this is literally the "tell don't show" game, where they tell you everything three times, unless it has to do with Rook's mental health, and then it's suddenly secretly an understated genius story that I just don't understand because I'm too stupid? Okay?

No, it's once again the framework of something great that is ultimately unfinished and underutilized and a lot of people are doing the heavy-lifting for the plot and seeing their heavy-lifted headcanons propelled across the fandom, and then thinking that's just what the text says. When it does not.

I do think this is also a result of the later half of the 2nd act and all of the 3rd act being really good. Like, the later parts of this game are so good that it has me doubting my sanity about the first parts, but then I replay it and go "lol no it was bad."
