Kindly take a break from scrolling to read this, it's important.

Take your time to grieve and come to terms with the election results, but once you've done that, it's time to get to work. We have two months. And a lot to do in that time. We have to prepare, to be ready.

Be careful about what you post or say online. Anything potentially incriminating should be avoided. Threatening language, even if clearly a joke, can be used against you.

Know someone who's trans? Someone who's had an abortion? Someone who's LGBTQIA+? Someone who's an immigrant? Someone who attends protests? Someone who's disabled? Someone who might in any way be at risk due to laws being put into place? No you don't.

Move away from social media platforms and browsers that require you to use your real identity or input a large amount of personal information. Now's a good time to find alternate means of communicating online. Tails, Element, Tor, Mastodon, Firefox, and Lemmy are all decent options.

Find a community. Someone you can talk to, either online or in real life, that you'll have reliable contact with. We need to try and create a network, but one that's as anonymous as possible.

Start scrubbing your trail as much as possible. Get rid of old accounts that can still be traced to you but are no longer used, delete personal data off the internet. There are websites out there that will freely remove your data from the internet, but be careful about which one you use, make sure it's safe and legitimate first.

Change any usernames that you can that contain any personal information. Names, birthdays, anything.

Plan B has a four year shelf life. Stock up, but don't take more than you you'll need. We don't want a COVID repeat where everyone buys an excessive amount of things and leaves none for everybody else.

There are doctors that will sterilize you, if that's the way you want to go.

Stop using online period trackers right now. Delete all data from it if possible first, then delete the app itself. If you must, write it down, but in a subtle manner and on something you keep at home. Don't label it, just put the dates. If you're really worried, discard older records and only keep the most recent few, and label the dates as other random events, like "go to mall" or "chicken salad for dinner this night"

Get your vaccines now.

Save money.

Archive. We have to start collecting records, media, data, books, and articles now. On racism, on fascism, on homophobia, on gender, on self-reliance, on survival, on safe travels routes, on equality, on justice, on anything that may be useful and/or censored soon. We can't let them erase it.

Collect those online resources. Bookmark them, copy files into your storage, Screenshot pages. Create a decentralized library where everyone is working to be part of a whole, storing what they can individually and sharing it between one another. Again, be careful about doing this.

Second-hand bookstores are your best friend. Books are usually very cheap in them, and they often have a decent stock. See what you can find.

When buying ANYTHING I have mentioned above, or anything else that maybe put you in danger, try to use cash to reduce your spending trail.

Check your car information online, many newer models can be remotely tracked.

Turn your phone completely off if you may be at risk due to your location and current activities. Turning off your GPS also helps.

Take note of where you are. Who are your friends? Who's a safe person? Where can you go besides your own home that you know you'll be safe? Establish these connections now.

Who around you is not safe? Who and where do you need to avoid? Do you need to move? If you cannot afford moving but need to, there are fundraisers that can help you. If even that is not an option, at least try to make sure your home is secure. Have someone who can help you. Have a fallback safe place.

And finally, I want anyone with resources to put them in the replies. Flood it with useful links, information, tips, anything. We're in this together. Do not panic. Organize.

She also raises awareness for addicts and former addicts, educating on the effects of drugs and the reasons people seek them out in the first place. Honestly, it's a very good account to follow.

Codsworth is just confused about TikTok. He's like "oh so what are the children saying these days? Aura? I'll have to add a new word to my vocabulary banks! Cheerio, mum!"

Curie makes educational videos for all ages and all subjects. She has a series of learning Japanese, a series of vaccines and the science behind them, a series about the effects of different types of parenting, you name it. She also takes suggestions from her audience on what new things to research.

Danse has unintentional thirst traps. He talks about power armor and the Brotherhood of Steel but also posts workouts. These are what get the most attention out of everything he posts. The BookTok girlies find him and all hell breaks loose in the comment sections. He responds to this with, "Thank you, civilians. I am not sure what you mean, but I am glad you are supporting the Brotherhood of Steel by being on my page. Thank you for your enthusiasm for our righteous cause. Ad victorium." People armchair diagnose him as autistic.

Deacon does "GRWM as i tell you about the time i ______" videos where each day he looks completely different and you can never tell if he's telling the truth or not. He also does head shaving videos that double as story times or opinion pieces. You can't tell if those are true or not either.

Dogmeat has a viral account followed by millions. Get's a lot of "I can't imagine liking this guy" comments with the op replying to their own comment with "anymore than I already do. Huge fan!"

Hancock does subtle cheeky thirst traps and dance challenges. This entire post was inspired by the FACT that Hancock would participate in the brat summer trend and would do the Apple dance with Fahrenheit filming it. He also tells stories, mostly of him being high. He gets a lot of requests to cosplay Deadpool.

MacCready has a lot of things he does. Some videos are sniper trick shots, some are Grognak the Barbarian yapping (he does short lore deep dives when he can), and some are about being a young single dad. He doesn't show Duncan's face because he's extremely protective. Casually drops the most insane lore about his childhood which leads to comments like "are we just ignoring that he said he grew up in a cave?"

Nick Valentine would be a very popular fashion and "a day in the life of a detective". He'd do vintage fashion looks, like loose slacks and suspenders with a trench coat to top it off. Sometimes does a deep dive into detective history. Gets a lot of thirsty comments to which he replies "that's one way to get the coolant pumping."

Old Longfellow has the appeal of the New England, stormy weather, sweater-wearing fisherman aesthetic, and he tells stories of his youth while showing people around the area he grew up. Learns mobile phone cinematography to make it look cooler. Every video has either a lesson or a skill for survival.

Piper's account is solely focused on news and truth, posting every source she uses. She uses the trend of an insane video, like someone falling badly on the ground or getting splashed with water, and stitches it to look like a seamless transition of her rolling from the fall or being splashed to start talking about her news stories. It gets traction so she continues.

Porter Gage has a side gig of running TikTok accounts for different people. Gets the money, doesn't get the backlash when they get canceled for racism or worker exploitation.

Preston has an account dedicated to charity work and social activism. He makes sure to highlight organizations he feels are doing the world a service and regularly has fundraisers. He's well-known for always sharing content from people in dire situations and raising money for them. Has a master document of Go Fund Me pages and vets every one of them.

Strong has a lot of those unintentional boomer tiktoks that are 1 second long and he's just looking at the screen in confusion.

X6 cyber bullies the rest of them because he thinks having a TikTok is cringe and stupid (he is currently writing hate comments with his TikTok account)

Okay, lets go through this apparent list of positives that Biden is in favor of.

Trans Rights: There have been multiple laws within states to fully close off especially trans kids rights to medical treatments and more. This is extremely current. Biden puts in minimal effort to look like he's doing anything at all for trans and queer rights, and there haven't really been any efforts aside from doing one or two proposals that immediately get shot down, and he's more than okay with that, hence why there's no longer really any push for this shit still. If you're trans, you can't piss in Utah without the risk of getting a fine right now. Even though these are state laws, the fact that there's been nearly zero effort federally to address this besides the title IX rule, speaks a lot about priorities in this area.

Abortion Access: Are we just forgetting the whole Roe V Wade getting overturned thing that happened in 2022? Are you really trying to say that this is good for abortion access? Abortion access has gotten actively worse.

Environmental Reform: Biden has endorsed extreme oil drilling projects and in general oil companies still love him! Not to mention the train crashes which we'll get to later.

Healthcare Reform: Covid-19 is still around and is sadly predicted to stay around for a long while. Healthcare is still private and a competitive field in the US and that causes major issues as well. If you look this up, you see articles titled along the lines of "Biden has lowered the cost of insurance" and meanwhile it just dropped in 2020 once during the pandemic but has been growing in cost.

Prescription Reform: Reading into this, not much has changed, which isn't surprising under genocide Joe. Drugs in the US are still higher than anywhere else in the world, and with healthcare issues still abundant, this is still a big issue.

Student Loan Forgiveness: Student debt is still extremely high in the US, and while Biden has rolled out some plans for forgiveness, it's a fraction of the debt, and he primarily uses the whole thing to win over swing states. This is a dangling carrot that provides very little overall.

Infrastructure Funding: Train crashes from 2020-present, worldwide, but notice the amount of US crashes! Neat! Quite literally just look up train crashes in the US during his presidency, there's too many to link here. It is also important to remember that Biden signed a bill to prevent rail strikes, preventing a lot of pressure to the government and the economy, which would have been a GOOD THING. Seriously, this guy has fucked up our environment and our rights in multiple ways.

Advocating Racial Equity: Structural racism within the US is still a huge problem, Biden hasn't addressed much. Also people are still in cages on the Mexico/US border (Which has been maintained by every president in office since it was established), with a very recent crackdown on the border.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Just. Look at the racial equity and trans rights sections above. Biden does the bare minimum, loves focusing on swing states, and all around uses the ol' carrot on a stick.

Vaccines and Public Health: Once again look above at sections on healthcare, abortion access, and prescription reform. Its bad. Remember how Covid-19 vaccines aren't being continued for free?

Criminal Justice Reform: This is just structural slavery still. Disproportionate amounts of black people are incarcerated, police are still heavily funded under Biden. He does not care about reforming the justice system, he even supports cops breaking up campus protests! Cool!

Military Support for Israel: Yup! Both sides suck! Biden has a very long history of sure hating Arabic countries though! He's done nothing but ship weapons and participate in the genocide of Palestinian people. Would Trump also do this? Yes. Does this mean this is an issue you should just drop and call a non-issue? No, what the hell are you talking about.

Israel/Hamas Ceasefire: Netanyahu has no plans to accept any actual ceasefire, yet Biden still provides weapons and support. Wow! That sure is weird? I wonder if Biden really cares about a ceasefire or how he just looks publicly.

Biden is not a good president, much less a good human being. You provided such a flimsy chart with zero resources or support behind you, and it just feels like people are just making shit up at this point. Get your heads out of the liberal cesspool you grew up in.

I had my day to wallow, and I'm only making a personal post only once about how I feel mixed in with the advice I've seen circulating around me since there's enough doom and gloom energy to fuel a Sailor Moon villain for the next millennia.

We are not letting misogyny win. We are not letting racism win. We are not letting xenophobia win. We are not letting homophobia win. It feels that way and it's gonna suck. It's gonna suck ass for a long time. I have no idea if we'll see the light at the end of the tunnel in our lifetime, but we're not gonna roll over and let hate win. If we act like this is the end, then it will be.

There are people who are planning to pack their bags and leave. I get it. Do what you gotta do to ensure you and your family's safety and peace of mind. If you can, please get your vaccines before January, start on getting your passport, even if you currently can't afford to go anywhere. You at least will have the option to flee if need be.

However, there are many who do not have the luxury to leave. We should've been able to look out for each other with our government, but now we're going to do so despite our government. Download and buy physical every Queer/BIPOC media you can. Be it comic, mv, movie, animated short, etc. Safeguard your history. Support your communities. Blood related and chosen. Think globally; act locally.

It's a lot, so focus on what you can control. Grieve, but don't get lost in it. Find outlets for your sanity in art, gardening, writing, video games, watch parties with friends.

I wonder a lot about what the response to covid would have been if Trump hadn't been president at the time. So much of it wasn't a reaction to covid itself, but to what Trump said and did about it. The virus is came from China, Trump shuts down travel from China, the media and left cry racism and go to superspreader events in Chinatown. Trump mentions that some doctors are having success with using hydroxychloroquine, the left calls it psuedoscience and says he wants you to drink bleach. Trump promises vaccines will be ready by the end of the year, the left screams that they don't trust his vaccines. Biden takes office and they want to move on and maybe take some credit for ending the crisis, vaccines are the greatest thing ever now and everyone must get them.

There is no political coherence to this demographic, they’re just dumb. Even living paycheck to paycheck won’t make them realise the position they’ve subjugated themselves in. They’ll spend the rest of their lives blaming the invisible liberal elite while the Republicans they vote in grow richer and richer from the tax breaks they cut themselves all the while allowing landlords to up rent prices that eventually makes them go homeless. I know that constantly seeing posts warning people about Project 2025 and Agenda 47 can be very frustrating and even bad for one's mental health, but even so it's very important to distinguish between content that's actually trying to shame you, and content that's trying to warn you. This whole notion that if something makes you feel bad, then it was meant as an attack on you and your ego is actually a very reactionary idea. I see it all the time among conservatives who think that teaching racism in schools is an evil conspiracy to hurt white kids' self-esteem. I see it among anti-vaxxers who think that being told that their kids are at a heightened risk of death if they don't get them vaccinated is fearmongering and malicious manipulation.

If a post makes you feel shame, please take a moment to ask yourself whether the writer was actually shaming (did they actually say you'd be a bad person if you didn't do what they said?), or if that's something you projected onto a post trying to warn you (ie, they said there would be consequences). Remember, a lot of people are (very justifiably) frightened right now, and are trying to sound the alarm as best as they can.

If your mental health is taking a toll from these posts, then do what you have to to protect it. Block triggering blogs, take a break from Tumblr, do whatever helps you. And also, be mindful of the difference between posts that are attacking you, and posts that feel like they're attacking you.

any YouTube video essay recs?

I have SO MANY. Some of these blew up enough that you've probably seen them already, but imo they're still a must-watch so I'm going to recommend them anyway.

hbomberguy - you've probably seen hbomb's video on YouTube Plagiarism (as you should, it's excellent) but I also really enjoyed his video on Vaccines and Autism. If you've ever wondered where all the anti-vax conspiracy theories originate from, this video explains it extremely well. His video on the origins of the Roblox Oof sound is incredibly funny and surprisingly thoughtful (watch it until the end, I promise you will not be disappointed). A lot of his video game critique videos are also really enjoyable.

Contrapoints - if you like video essays, then you've almost certainly seen Natalie's work. A few of my favorites include: Shame, Canceling, Gender Critical, and Incels. As you can probably tell from the titles, Natalie covers a wide array of topics - including from dissecting common far-right extremist groups to exploring the queer experience. Honestly, all of her videos are worth a watch, but the few I've listed here are some that I found most insightful and eye-opening.

Overly Sarcastic Productions - if you like literature, history and mythology, you'll enjoy Red and Blue's content! Red covers classic literature, mythology and story tropes, while Blue focuses on history. I love Red's videos especially - her series where she summarizes Shakespeare is one of my favorites.

Philosophy Tube - Do you like philosophy? What if I told you that a beautiful British trans woman could explain philosophy to you, with all the magic of theater? Some of my favorite videos from Abigail include The Rich Have Their Own Ethics and Abortion & Ben Shapiro.

Shanspeare - All of their videos are great, but a few that I remember being especially good were Tradwives and the White Supremacists Who Love Them and Disney, Race-bending and Whimsical Racism. I also really enjoyed their video dissecting the Tortured Artist Trope. Every time I rewatch one of their videos, I still feel like I'm learning something new.
