can i just say. and this is probably a niche hill to die on. that i am so gobsmacked every time someone vaguely hints at the idea that jotaro doesn't care meaningfully for the other crusaders, usually particularly kakyoin and joseph, when those two actually tend to be the ones he reacts to being hurt the hardest

like he cares for his loved ones!!!! that literally plays into his character motives in every single part he shows up in!!! stop lying to me!!!!!!!

#me.txt #jjba #i'm going to ramble in tags actually. excuse me #ok. rereading sdc and so confused at the general perception of jotaro and his friends/family. he's not NEARLY as flat or as dickish #i understand that the anime (particularly the dub) tends to slander him but even then he still clearly cares for them! i'm confused #i also understand that a lot of people dig against jotaro and kakyoin as a dynamic because 'they're popular' and that generally disliking #popular things across media is a thing that i've seen consistently everywhere but the discredit to them simply as a DUO and not even as a #pairing is so..... odd..... like they're considered to be a duo that clicks for a reason. i enjoyed them even before i got into the fandom #every time i see someone say jotaro is overrated/dull i take a shot and assume they're an anime-only or only read the manga like once btw #joseph and jotaro also have a neat dynamic and they obviously both love and care for each other. like they're not going to go around loudly #or anything but literally the entirety of the lovers and the prelude to the dio fight IS jotaro being worked up over joseph getting hurt #equally i don't know if it translates to the anime as much but joseph is VERY complimentary when it comes to jotaro. like he sings his #praises so often and reminds everyone that he's his grandson so frequently (d'arby the gamer is a good example of this). either way it's so #peculiar....... there's not enough avdol and jotaro content btw (also in canon) because jotaro obviously looks up to him and avdol jokes #around with him on the occasion they interact after their intro which doesn't start very well. it's very cute #i do think an important thing to note about jotaro's character is how he acts AFTER his intro because he's so drastically different. early #jotaro and later jotaro aren't the same character and i do not mean this in a character development way. excluding the jail incident he's #completely different and probably shouldn't really be taken into account (especially considering the amount of slapstick in araki's intros)#and i think that's really???? what people center on for his character? on this late night i am thinking incredibly hard about how, when faced with a choice between preventing a new friend from harm + clearing up a misunderstanding and choosing the path that would potentially find him a cure for his catatonic friend, zack recalled marlene's words of saying that aerith liked cloud, and of course she did, because he (zack) wasn't there. hadn't been there for a long time

and after recalling these words and grasping at the ribbon tied around his hand, zack ultimately decides that by taking the right-hand path he can, with some luck, fulfill two of his own desires - 1) potentially seeing his friend cloud healed and healthily awake again, and 2) making sure that aerith will be able to be happy when she wakes if he succeeds the first part. he has not and will not let go of his adoration and love for her, but if cloud is seemingly what makes her happy in this bizarre world he's found himself in, he'll choose that option in a heartbeat, because her happiness means the world to him even if it means accepting that he's not the focus of it anymore. he just loves her so much . oh i'm in pain. zack fair the man that you are

ALSO adding on to my last post I have seen a bunch of people around all social media say things about the state of shoujo anime in recent years all along the lines of saying there are less shoujo anime bc women's perspectives and stories are viewed as less profitable than shounen and that's probably not untrue in terms of executive's reasoning but also every time there is a shoujo anime made literally all I ever see people talk about are the guy romantic partners and if anyone says anything about liking the woman main character it's always through the filter of saying things like aww the guy loves her so much and it's like. The girls on the shows aren't talking to each other about anything but men the audience isn't talking about anything but men etc. You want women's perspectives. But the only perspective you want is to only keep talking about liking men.

#and i guess i should add the qualifier here that i am talking about shoujo romance bc it is a really broad category #and not saying shonen romances are perfect even though again shonen is a really broad qualifier and a lot of shonen romances are written...#...by women. but there are a lot of romances in shonen where the girl characters are THE focus and they all get a bad reputation for...#...~the male gaze~ and um at some points you guys are just using that to never talk about a woman ever more than you care about how men...#...view women per se. someone will get me.#stuff like the apothecary diaries i saw a fair amount of people really lovr maomao and i was surprised by how much attention a female...#...character was getting in the broadest anime circles but also 90% of posts about her in the tag here at least are through the filter of..#...talking about how much jinshi loves her or for every sentence i see about maomao there are still ten about the guy #and the romance isn't even the most prominent factor in that story from what the anime has shown of it #like. it's both frustrating that the mass public only wants to talk about really specific kinds of girls or they go completely out of...#...their way to never talk about girls under the guise of caring about girls's stories?

ok so i haven't done wip wednesdays/weekends in a bit because i wasn't sure how I wanted to do the wip options since i only have one wip i keep going back and editing instead of writing whats next. SO i figured I'll make a little version where you guys make me to put the gists of things down just to have something to work with and stop just editing my old shit

In a poll I have a handful of different scene ideas I know will happen relatively soon in my fic We'll Be Alright (The Steve Henderson Au)

You guys can vote for one in the poll and I'll share a snippet from my most recently added scene (actually new stuff and not me editing my old stuff!! wahoo!!)

each vote will be 1 paragraph (so like could be a chunk of text could be a dialogue line) i'll spend putting that idea into words and each ask will be 3 paragraphs plus a little snippet from what I got down (much shorter than my normal, sorry guys i've belatedly realized i've shared a lot more than i thought of my earlier chapters lol

Since all these are kinda serious plot moments I figured I'd share a moment of silliness

Steve stood there for a few seconds, water running and holding a tortoise in someone else’s bathroom.

And to think, this isn't even the weirdest thing to happen in the past few days.

"Back." Dustin announced, running back in with a thermometer he stuck right under the water.

"Why the thermometer?"

"He's ectothermic so he needs a very specific temperature range."

Steve nodded, just going with it.

"You should call him Yortoise."

"Yortoise?"

"Yeah, Yurtle is 'turtle' with a 'Y' so since he's a tortoise… Yortoise."

"He's named after the book though." he said, closing the sink drain and letting water fill the bottom.

"He won't mind, he can't read."

Dustin burst out in a laugh.

"I'll just stick with Yurtle."

"Can I still call him Yortoise?"

"Sure, it'll be your special nickname for him."

"Hell yeah"

of course, same as ever, the itch to actually write gets into me on the same day i have social obligations after work. tonight, visiting dad and my sister for pizza night. maybe i won't be out for very long? having energy when i get back, not quite so easily guaranteed. we shall see. currently juggling metas aplenty — how the aura works and how ash is tangled up in it; the thousand-year-long and most fabled history of pallet house; more abstract tirades on ash's personal philosophies and how he copes with burgeoning immortality; how ash wound up in bed with the kalian technocracy; how the whole gang copes being completely fatherless, etc. speaking of which, halfway considering introducing other characters in ash's canon ( e.g., gary, misty, delia, etc. ) as guest muses — until such time as i get some more ... formal takers, anyway. we shall see, we shall see.

- Before the intro sequence, I thought Anu didn't know Octavio friends? I don't know the timeframe in all this so it does feel a tad bit weird though, in this run I had killed Juniper so...

- Dear God Octavio not noticing it's Fran's Frogurt is so stupid 😭😭 literally no words. Till this exact moment, I could excuse a lot of the writing... Please.... He's not this dumb, right,,,, ouu,,

- "SAY UNCLE" "You're my sister and I'm your uncle" - I want to know the story behind this sm

- Fergus looking saved it with L0U13 free labour dance but.... Why did we even have the the mental worry, and then the stupid hitting Fergus butt,,, I know the games have this humour but this whole bit felt like not so well timed break

- This game cannot get where it is standing with the killing hmmmm, like no character in this run had a constant (though idk why L0u13, after his crisis, gets once again pro killing,, gonna try replaying better version)

#Doodles #Villainsona #Just Desserts #So you can see - the TVAU floodgates lol #Upon realizing how fun and easy Charm is to draw in the WOY style I was like ''So designing outfits then''#It's like an inbuilt base maker! This style is perfect for just getting a scribble down and then extrapolating from there!#Surely we've all seen the phenomenon of starting with something simple and expanding and building once the base is established #Like kid drawings being redrawn by professionals :D Or pixel art into fully rendered or Minecraft skins open to interpretation #The urge to Artistic Liberty lol - I just managed to find a style that I can do both in >:3c Create the initial and build from there! Yay!!#Love having that as an option ♪ And like I said she's criminally fun to draw like this lol she's just a cute rectangle #Plus - and this is really the big plus lol - since WOY is so silhouette-based it's a great style to test outfits on #The biggest problem for designing her TVAU outfit for me has been how readable it is with and without the wings #Classic Charm is perfect and that's reflected in her design as well ♪ TVAU is in the image of another hm hm hm #<Already a tag lol - but she is! Classic Charm has the perfect amounts of breaks and rests and interest and design flow I just hhh <3 <3 #And also true for the TVAU! Charm is under pretty direct influence by that point and I want that to be very reflected in her outfit!#I had a bunch of themes I wanted to explore like two months ago but kept coming up empty :P But now that I've had a chanced to simmer :3c #The biggest elements I'm happiest with are her belly showing in the first one - one of the themes was ''forced vulnerability'' so #I'm not sure what to do with the hem of her pants tho I very intentionally didn't design where her shirt and pants meet in Classic lol #The second design is probably my favourite overall :D And not Just because she turned out so cute in the WOY style haha #I mean she also turned out very cute in the JD style hehe - but I kinda forgot that Kaiein started as a dragon!#Turning her spiderweb theme into dragon scales is so just- how did I not think of that before gods what a brilliant idea lol #And I can keep scalloping! Scallops forever dragon scales spider webs sugar candy sweets ♪ My favourite :D #I like that it keeps the shawl as well while still having very uncovered shoulders - feels villainy and still reflective of her design :D #The last one is more building off the previous two - chest window for the vulnerability theme - dragon scale ''train'' like the first's #I think it's decent but it was honestly more for the dark striped leggings since the middle had them light like her Classic design #One of the other themes I was going for was ''coloured over/blotted out'' and having it be ''her'' design while literally coloured out #I think there's something to that :3c #Also *toots own horn* I did a fantastic job reconstructing her leg in that last one >:3c #I bet you'd never know the the entire bottom half of her left leg had to be digitally added after the fact!
