Aries Your help will be needed for a new project in the office. Previous investments will give good returns today. There may be minor problems regarding health. You can sell or buy a property today. Some women will inherit ancestral property.
Taurus It's important to remember the past and learn from it, but it's also important to let go of things that are weighing you down. Sometimes holding on to the past can hold you back. Today you could learn a big lesson about moving forward by letting go of things that are holding you back at work. There could be an old moment that is holding you back. It's time to forgive yourself and move on.
Gemini Whether you're single or already in a relationship, love is in the air. This could be a really exciting time for you. If you're hoping love will come your way, today's horoscope suggests a romantic proposal could come your way. So keep your eyes and heart open to new possibilities.
Cancer If something is getting in the way of your happiness, today could be the day to pay attention and see that your voice is heard. Whether it's spending time in nature, playing with your pets, or being with your loved ones, you should never give up on things that bring you joy. You deserve to experience all the joys life has to offer.
Leo It's always a good sign to have someone believe in you and help you reach your full potential. This can be a great opportunity for you to learn and grow. Today, you may find someone you trust supporting you. This will help you understand what is expected of you and what you are capable of. A good mentor will not only tell you what to do but will also show you how to do it.
Virgo Today's horoscope suggests that you may fall in love with someone unexpectedly. This can be a really exciting experience. So enjoy every moment of it. Complete all your tasks before the deadline. It is important to be careful about expenses. Big decisions may have to be taken career-wise. Love can sometimes come out of nowhere and surprise you.
Libra You will find that working with someone can make things more enjoyable and productive. Today is a great day to connect with someone who has different skills and talents that can come in handy. Why do things alone when you can team up with someone and have fun doing a big project together?
Scorpio Whether it's a trip or just trying new things, start planning now so that you have enough time to plan everything. Take out your pen and paper and start making a list of all the things you want to do. Get ready for an exciting day. Winter is coming. So this is the perfect time to start planning.
Sagittarius Being mindful of how you treat others can go a long way in building positive relationships. Today you may need to take a step back and think about how your behavior is affecting others. It's important to treat everyone with respect and gentleness, even if you don't always see eye to eye. Sometimes you don't even realize your words are hurting someone else.
Capricorn Sometimes a peaceful separation can be the best thing for both people. It can be a sign that it's time to resolve the relationship or start afresh. Maybe you feel stressed or nervous when you're around someone you used to love. It's okay to talk things out and see where they go. You can usually tell when something in your life is no longer romantic.
Aquarius It's okay to prioritize your own happiness and mental health. If you're no longer interested, it's better to say so than to continue with something you're not passionate about. You don't have to hold on to a commitment that no longer serves you. It's okay to change your mind or back off if something isn't right for you.
Pisces Sometimes expressing your feelings can help you feel better and understand yourself more. It's okay to ask a friend for help if you need it. Today may be a day when you need to take a break from thinking about deep things and deal with stress. You can't always control how you feel, but you can control how you respond to those feelings.

It's still technically Wednesday somewhere in the United States! I'm not late, you're late.
All joking aside, today I want to talk about spiritual wellness. This is an aspect of wellness that can sometimes be overlooked, as the word "spiritual" is often associated only with religion. If you have religious trauma, or just prefer to live a life without religion, the idea of "spiritual wellness" might put you off.
This aspect of wellness is not necessarily religious, however. Spiritual health is focused more on your personal purpose in life, whether you're sure about it or not, and your morals and values.
Today I want to focus on identifying your personal values. I don't have a worksheet for you this time around, but I may edit one in later. For now, we can just review the steps together. You might want to grab your journal for this!
Your values are all about who you are, and who you want to be. Identifying your personal values is a great first step in self-discovery, and can help you to better understand the metrics and standards that you use to judge yourself. That's helpful for reducing negative self-talk and being kinder to yourself.
Step 1: Identify times of happiness
Think back on your life, and focus on some happy memories. It's best if you can identify some in both your work and personal life. Try to focus on the who, what, where, and when - that is, who were you with, what were you doing, where were you, and when in your life did it happen?
Step 2: Identify times of pride
Like in the previous step, you want to identify your who, what, where, and whens. This time, however, focus on memories where you felt proud. Think about your accomplishments, the "wins" in your life. It could be a promotion, an award, landing your dream job, graduating, having/adopting a child - anything that made you feel proud, write it down and include your Ws.
Step 3: Remember times that you felt fulfilled or satisfied
Following along with the previous steps, this time you want to identify your Ws for memories when you felt fulfilled or satisfied. This is a sensation that can be difficult to identify, especially if you aren't used to it or haven't felt it in a while. To help you, think about needs or desires that you have or have had in the past. Has there ever been a time that those needs or desires were being met? Remember your Ws!
Step 4: Put it all together
Look back over the memories of happiness, pride, and fulfillment that you've listed so far. What do they have in common? These common threads are going to help you identify your top values. To help you put words to the feelings, I have a list for you of common core values:

I know it's a long list, but I wanted to give you as many possible prompts/ideas as I could. I encourage you to go through this list, and think of any other possibilities, and pick out your top ten, in no particular order.
Step 5: Write it Down
Write down your top ten values in your journal. These are going to be your focus for at least a year. Next year, you can decide if your values have changed. Keep these values in mind when you do goal-setting exercises, and see how they affect your goals. In a year, we'll go over these again to decide if they're still relevant or if things have changed.

PORTFOLIO ENTRY #2. Journal 2. My Philosophy in LifeEngage in a thoughtful exploration of self-awareness by addressing the following questions in your journal entry 2.
Where do you think people came from?
Humans originated through a process of evolution, according to the scientific understanding. Over millions of years, species gradually changed, leading to the development of Homo sapiens. This explanation is based on the evidence of fossil records, genetics, and comparative anatomy. Different cultures and religions, however, may have their own beliefs and creation stories about the origin of humans.
Why do you think we are here on Earth?
In my opinion, everyone has something to accomplish with their life, which is why I believe there are many theories on why we are here on Earth and why we must live as humans. because all of our evolutionary ancestors' ideal circumstances were there for them to emerge, flourish, and coexist with humans, and because these conditions are favorable for us humans.
What do you think we are supposed to do? What is your idea of right or wrong?
To me, happiness is about living life to the fullest, doing what brings you joy, and being authentic. And according to Aristotle, happiness is about attaining all the things, health, wealth, knowledge, friends, etc. that contribute to the enrichment of human life and the perfection of human nature over the course of a lifetime.Human actions impact others, and reflecting on what’s right or wrong is crucial for building a trustworthy society. Individual well-being relies on family and society, with trust as the foundation. A sense of morality is essential, influencing how we judge actions. Social norms often shape our understanding of right and wrong, leading to cultural variations in concepts like courtesy, equality, and freedom. According to Aristotle, it is part of being human to wonder about ourselves and our world. In other words, it is human nature to be that way.
What should we try to achieve? (Value)
As a human being, I believe that the main goals we should strive for are personal fulfillment, positive contributions to society, and ethical behavior. That being said, I also want to experience peace through the challenges we face and the positive and negative experiences we have in life. Seeking information, developing deep connections, and improving oneself and others are frequently regarded as good goals. Although individual objectives may differ, the overarching objective is frequently to live a meaningful and purposeful life while making a good impact on the community's and beyond's well-being.
What should we stay away from? (Value)
For me, individuals should generally avoid harmful behaviors such as dishonesty, cruelty, and harmful actions towards others. Yes, and I know everyone has different personalities and experiences in life because it's normal in our human nature that we do things that we don't want to do. Engaging in activities that negatively impact oneself or society, like violence or exploitation, is typically discouraged. Respect for others, empathy, and a commitment to ethical principles often guide individuals away from behaviors that can harm well-being, relationships, and the overall harmony of society.
Where do we go after our bodies die?
In my opinion, it's really hard to explain this question. Because when we die, our spirit and body separate. Even though our body dies, our spirit, which is the essence of who we are, lives on. Our spirit goes to the spirit world. The spirit world is a waiting period until we receive the gift of resurrection, when our spirits will reunite with our bodies. Our future resurrected body cannot die and will be perfect, free from pain, sickness, and imperfections. It is because of the infinite love of Jesus Christ that everyone will be resurrected. And After burial, the body undergoes decomposition, gradually returning to the earth as it breaks down over time.
Who has influenced your ideas about life?
I got my perspective on life from my mother.Throughout my life, my mother has had a greater influence than anyone else I know. She has been a teacher, coach, and parent. In the face of dread and sorrow, she has taught by example. She's taught us the value of constantly getting back up after falling and has given us love and respect. My eternal hero is a survivor. Financial difficulty has been a challenging situation that my mom, an OFW parent, has seen us through. I am incredibly proud of my mother for teaching her son the lesson she instilled in us, and she goes above and beyond to ensure that we don't go hungry. Having parents is the most priceless thing in life because they guide us through the challenges that we go through in our lives

Doing their jobs
You know, Cait & Sam are just doing their jobs. They paid their dues and came up thru the ranks to follow their career interests. Now it’s paying off for them: Nominations, awards, recognition, fame, fortune, respect, opportunities. It’s taken awhile and hasn’t been easy. For a minute, imagine their thrill when they landed plum lead roles in a cable series with a built-in fan base of thousands, with recognized industry producers and directors. They were both single, living away from family where they grew up. Sam moved back to Scotland where his mom and brother lived and where he was raised. Cait moved across the Irish Sea from her previous home, before living elsewhere and in LA, to a Gaelic country in the UK. They had meaty roles and lotsa opportunities to show off their acting abilities. They worked for Sony and Starz and had access to PR, agents, publishers, stylists unlike before. On top of all this, the stars aligned. They may have resisted the cliche of falling for the other romantic lead at first. Eventually there was no denying how deeply and strongly they felt for each other. When they were in their bubble together, fireworks exploded. The were also in the midst of a media cyclone with the popularity of Outlander’s first season. They helped each other stay strong and grounded. They slowly merged families, friends, fundraising, causes, interests, free time, previous connections and work friends. They shared their loves for the environment, children, animals, traveling, art, film & theatre, adventure, music, foods. They were both in their 30s and shared dreams of travel, health, wealth, and children. Somehow, Sam & Cait created magic on screen and gave us glimpses of a personal relationship built of love, respect, and fun affection behind the scenes too. We all ate it up. IMO nothing has changed. Focus on the love. Focus on the positive magic these two create. It’s palpable. The rest is all BULLSHIT. We are the loyal followers who have reveled in their connection from early on—we see it, we respect it, we get it. The Narrative is annoying, but it isn’t directed towards us. “I suggest you ignore it.” It’s business, plain and simple. SC are for sale to the highest bidder and they’re dealing with it in the best way they can. They’re both developing other businesses, other interests for both financial and personal freedom. Once their obligations to Outlander end, we will get a glimpse of a liberated SC (and maybe their wee secrets). Not naive here, Ladies, it’s just business. I don’t take any of the BS seriously or personally. Peace 💕❤️💗💋
Anyway keep this in mind. The 7 season contract is NOT over. No matter how much we fans want them to admit what we already KNOW, it won't happen until the 7 season contract is up, or by some miracle TPTB change their minds and see the error of their ways. I, for one, wish Sam and Caitriona all the best, because none of this is easy for them. I saw them the Thursday interview (pure joy) and then the Friday IFH were it looked like someone died (Jan. 2016).

Sometimes I think about some of the possible futures of Drifter’s Hollow...
I think about Itchy and Ginger growing old together, Itchy’s health going to shit from all the abuse he’s put his body through over the years and his family taking care of him. Like his liver is failing but he’s just like...who cares, I got a great family and did everything I wanted to do in life. He dies fairly young but happy. Ginger chooses not to remarry, knowing she can’t possibly replace such a unique husband, and with the kids out of the house she’s finally able to focus on herself. She joins Olof in helping the community with volunteer work.
Tomato, Frederick, Cinnamon, Azadora, and all the kids grown up and possibly replacing the older Freelance Good Guys as mercenaries.
Tomato always coming up with crazy get-rich-quick schemes like Itchy, but being smarter about it and actually pretty successful, if a little sketchy. Frederick being an overconfident tough guy, acting as Tomato’s muscle as they travel around the region and pull schemes.
Azadora eventually replacing Evan as the leader of the Freelance Good Guys, leading a new generation of moral mercenaries. Actually proves to be a more competent leader than he was and makes Balthazaar very proud.
Cinnamon becoming a magical prodigy, learning spells from Mr. Ocean that allow her to “see” and “hear” using magic. Also plays the lute and uses echomancy to amplify her music, later becoming a sensation in Matuzu Kingdom. Tomato ends up riding her coat tails and mooching off her wealth for the rest of his life.
Evan as a retired, fat old mercenary with heart problems because of what Lendon did to him, married to Lukas and happy regardless. He’s finally learned to slow down and just hangs out on his porch every day with a beer, watching Lukas work their little garden. Still coaches the younger Guys in combat training, can never fully let the mercenary life go. Likes to take vacations with Lukas and always ends up doing some kind of side job when he’s supposed to be relaxing.
Lukas finally coming to terms with his trauma and becoming a nicer, more chilled out person. Still a little crabby and crusty but finally able to love again.
Isaac going feral and living in the woods with the animals, but absolutely thriving as a wild man. Always comes back to the village because he misses his friends, then disappears again for long stretches of time.
Shadow goes missing for a whole month, which scares the shit out of Isaac and worries him sick. But she eventually returns and lays an egg, which hatches into a baby roc. Turns out she migrated back to Serkel just to mate. The baby roc becomes part of the Good Guy family, maybe bonding with Azadora and becoming her mount.
Mr. Ocean slowly dying in Drifter’s Lake from age, fungus, and brain cancer taking over his body. Nothing can really be done for him but he’s at peace with his fate, and he just spends his last remaining years chilling on his dock, teaching Cinnamon magic and playing his sitar. He knows he’ll soon join Solveig in the stars.
Brogan realizing Gwyneth is a toxic bitch and finally leaving her for a nicer woman, one who really loves and appreciates him. Probably leaves the Hollow altogether and never returns. Has some kids with his new wife and the normal, family life he thought he’d never have.
Big Philly settling down in a domestic, asexual relationship with Dr. Che. She convinces him to stop working himself to death and let Tojum take over his clinic so he can retire. He learns to relax and enjoy the present instead of always worrying about the future. He and Philly adopt some kids and Philly gets to raise children to adulthood for once, instead of having them ripped away from her over and over.
Tojum becoming the successful doctor she always wanted to be, finding satisfaction in proving her father wrong.
Jelani...I can see two possible futures for him: A) he settles into his life as king, falls in love with a noblewoman and has a child who will be his heir to the throne. He is kind to this child and breaks the cycle of his family’s abuse. Or B) He abandons the throne and Uekoro altogether to become a mercenary, inspired by his time with Evan. He’s poor but he’s happy, because he realizes he loves adventure more than gold.
Elska eventually leaves the Freelance Good Guys and ends up joining the Folkvar military. She quickly rises through the ranks and becomes the High King’s finest commander, leading a huge army that completely destabilizes Evangeline Kingdom and brings it to its knees, obliterating Kelvingyard and the Evangelite slave trade. She dies a glorious death in this battle and is regarded as one of the greatest heroes in Looming Gaia’s history.
Balthazaar finds joy and fulfillment as a father, but as Azadora grows older and replaces him as a mercenary, he gets lonely and remarries a nice woman who treats him with more respect than Feredil ever did, which helps him come to terms with her death, realizing his relationship with her wasn’t so great all along.
Jeimos and Linde retiring from mercenary work and getting married, possibly moving back to Zhoulcha where Linde can become a dressmaker like she always dreamed. Jeimos makes big money as an arcane engineer, putting all their education to good use at last. They use that money to visit their friends back in Drifter’s Hollow frequently.
Glenvar finally overcomes his alcoholism, buys a seaworthy boat with his former booze money and sails around the world with Alaine. They’ve both grown a lot over the years and they’re finally able to have a functional relationship, but they don’t get married because that’s totally lame. They retire and spend their golden years on that boat together.
Olof decides to remain faithful to Halldora’s spirit, whether she’s alive or not, and remains single. Once Frederick leaves home, he gets to spend more time with friends and finds happiness in helping his community, feeling proud of his son for growing out of a brat and into a responsible man.
Skel somehow reuniting with Jasenia, falling in love with her all over again and getting to spend the rest of his life with her like they both wanted. He doesn’t have a lot of money but he realizes he never needed it anyway.
Javaan’s promiscuity pays off when one of his bastard children ends up marrying a noble, contacts him and wants him in his life. Javaan spends the rest of his life in a Morite palace, living the life of luxury that was always denied to him, and realizes he enjoys being a father after all.
Flora just being Flora, watching the village change and grow as it always has. For whatever reason, she’s going to miss this generation a little more than the ones before it.
I get really emotional about it, you guys ;u;

Idea from @spop-prompts
Adora bunched the blanket around her shoulders tighter, determinedly ignoring the cold.
For the attempted shattering of the moonstone…
She turned another page of another book. How many pages had her tired eyes strained over? How many books?
...for her role in the attempted murder of Queen Angella...
Another masked and vaguely spherical servant set down a cup of tea—lidded so as to avoid spillage upon the ancient texts—and a plate with warm, hearty vegetation that would leave neither crumbs or stains next to Adora. Adora mumbled her distracted thanks to the person whose body and clothing were better suited to the cold than her own and reached out numbly for the fork.
...for her role in the capture and torture of Princess Glimmer…
Adora hadn’t ever bothered to count the number of meals brought to her in this place, so it was hardly like she had lost count. She ate and drank fast, for the warmth, sure, but mostly just to get the action out of the way. Her eyes never left the page, and she turned it.
...and for seeking out the destruction of the balance, foundation, and structure of Etheria itself…
Adora stood in sudden excitement, blanket slipping, forgotten, from her shoulders as her eyes traced the words as fast as she could possibly read them. Then she read the passage again, to make sure, even as her breath picked up and her heart thudded in her ears.
...I hereby sentence Force Captain Catra of the Horde to death.
She’d found what she was looking for.
—
“Glimmer! Bow!” Adora shouted before Swift Wind had even finished landing. Her friends were there to greet her, looking excited and relieved to see her back in one piece.
“Adora!” came twin shouts in return, the two of them immediately tackling her into a hug before her feet touched the soil.
“We’ve been so worried about you!” said Bow, not an admonishment, just the truth.
“Did you find a way to help Catra?” Glimmer asked, pink eyebrows knit in worry.
“I did,” Adora said, pulling out the tablet she’d borrowed from Bow and pulling up the photo she’d taken. “But I need your help. This is going to take… some convincing.”
Bow and Glimmer looked at each other, a conversation passing between their eyes, and then they smiled at her. “You can count on us,” Glimmer promised.
—
The traditions of Brightmoon were very different from the traditions of the Horde, which were mostly just the stripped-down basics of the traditions of the Desert Throne that Hordak had half-accepted as a way to keep the peace among people who remembered the time before he landed in Etheria. Adora had expected some differences, since everything was different here, but wow. There was a lot more tradition involved than she had planned on.
Even so. Step one was the most crucial part of all, and that part? That part transcended cultures.
First came the question.
“Catra,” Adora said. The sound didn’t reverberate down empty, stone halls like it would in the Fright Zone’s prison. Bright Moon’s was, like everything else in this place, pretty. Pretty, clean, pastel. Catra didn’t look up from her prisoner’s mat, which Adora recognized was completely indistinguishable from her own bed. It would’ve been funny, to know that Glimmer and Bow had gotten her bed from one of Bright Moon’s literal jail cells. But as it was, as Catra would see it, it was just a normal bed in a pretty room that served as further mockery to Catra’s situation.
Adora wasn’t good at reading others. Even her best friend. Even her Catra. But from what she’d learned in the terrible, wonderful years since leaving Catra’s side, she knew that Catra would look around and see the pretty walls and floors and bed and gate and feel them as an insult.
“Catra, it’s me,” Adora said, not knowing what else to say.
“Hey, Adora.” Catra’s voice was flat. No mockery, no coy charm, nothing. Two words like dead rocks hitting the ground, thunk thunk.
The gate didn’t creak when it swung open. Didn’t even squeak a little at the end of the hinge. It glided smoothly, soundlessly, and Adora’s footsteps were the only sounds to make Catra’s ears twitch.
“I found a loophole,” Adora said. “A way for you to avoid execution.”
Catra lifted her chin from her knees and her eyes from the mat, fixing Adora with a blank stare. Adora pressed her lips thin, then continued.
“I know… you’re doubting me. I know that every time I’ve tried to protect you or save you or help you, I’ve either made it worse, or I didn’t actually manage to do it. I couldn’t protect you from Shadow Weaver. I couldn’t—I didn’t, help you in training. I kept getting your hopes up only to let you down, and I’m sorry.”
Catra’s ears were forward, her eyes unblinking, all of her attention fixed with devastating, unwavering intensity on Adora.
“And… I know you don’t need saving. That you’re capable, and you’re so, so smart, and you’re a survivor and ambitious and a menace and you’ve probably got at least two plans on how you’re going to get out of here and run off into the wild and lead a new life with all your crazy ambitious awesomeness. I know you don’t need my help. But, I want to give it to you. I want to keep you safe, safe for real, and I want you here with me, and to show you all the cool things I’ve discovered and introduce you to my friends and to show everyone how amazing you are and come home to you at night.” Adora took a deep breath. Why was this the hard part? “Because I love you.”
Fluffed fur, mirror blushes, the words finally said where neither of them could take them back.
“So,” Adora said, her knees slowly sinking down to the mat in front of her best friend, “Catra,” Adora said, her hands reaching out and folding over the scarred and clawed hand of her first and only love, “will you marry me?”
—
Apparently ceremonies happened before legal signings, in Bright Moon, but since this was a special case the two were flipped. Adora and Catra didn’t actually care, since in the Horde the only things that happened were the legal signings. With Catra freed from Shadow Weaver, the Horde, prison, and death itself, she set right into her natural way of making her presence everybody else’s problem. Everybody but Adora, who was too happy to have her best friend back, to have her best friend love her back, to get mad at her antics.
The wedding of She-ra was a world-wide hot topic. Everyone had contributions they wanted to make and advice they wanted to give. Perfuma and her people sent over gargantuan floral displays of every conceivable type and arrangement, calling them “samples” and asking which ones Catra and The She-ra liked best. Mermista offered catering, Frosta sent warm regards (which Adora had to explain was A Big Deal), Netossa and Spinnerella helped decorate, Castaspella and the other mages sent blessing after magical blessing, and even Scorpia, despite the new pressures of her place as ruler of the Desert Throne, sent assistance and a long comic depicting her absolute joy at their upcoming union.
Planning, preparing, and gathering everything and everyone took months, and Catra basked in the attention. Force Captain Catra, bride of She-ra, the unkillable, the desirable, the bold. Despite She-ra initiating the world’s attention, it was Catra who seized and kept it. Adora, better suited to her place at her lover’s side, watched on with pride and happiness.
—
Scorpia and Entrapta stood on one side of the patio, Bow and Glimmer on the other. The Moonstone of Bright Moon hovered high above them, and before them stretched the crystalline lake they’d once fought in years ago. Flowers bobbed gently in the still waters, too multitudinous to even attempt to count, and all along the palace exterior and shore of the lake stood happy faces, watching the ceremony of She-ra—who was really just Adora—and Catra. Bow and Scorpia were already crying. Their girlfriends held their hands (or, well, claw, in Scopria’s case). With the hand not holding Bow’s, Glimmer reached up and the Moonstone began to glow.
“By the authority of the Moonstone,” Glimmer said as Catra and Adora approached the steps leading down into the lake, “I bind these souls together. To love, to hold, to cherish and protect. To stand beside and value, and always to respect.” As Glimmer spoke, Adora and Catra walked, hand and hand, into the cheery waters, flowers parting as they passed, the folds of Adora’s dress and Catra’s robe rippling as they dragged through the water. “In hardship and in wealth, in sickness and in health, when the heart is sweet or har’d, your souls nevermore to part.”
Adora and Catra’s heads submerged, holding their breaths, and they smiled with puffed up cheeks at each other. The water was so clear, they could see each other just as well as they might above the surface. Adora turned to rise back up the steps, but Catra did not release her hand. Instead, she tugged on it sharply, darting forward and kissing Adora beneath the surface, light shimmering through the dancing waters and shadows passing over them beneath the flowers. Adora kissed back with surprise, and their laughter literally bubbled out of them. They rose to the surface still smiling, both pairs of hands held fast, and their foreheads fell together as natural as they had all their lives.
“Catra and Adora rise from the waters with fresh hearts and fresh eyes,” Glimmer called out, her crisp voice booming out to the distant crowd. “No longer one and another, but two souls intertwined; rejoice!”
The crowd burst into raucous cheers, Netossa even throwing up a few magical nets that burst into color before fading midair. Scorpia and Glimmer helped Catra and Adora out of the pool, Scorpia immediately pulling Catra into a weepy, bone-crushing hug.
“Aaa, I can’t believe I remembered all that!” Glimmer exclaimed as she and Bow—also still definitely crying—hugged Adora just as viciously. Entrapta perched on Scorpia’s shoulder and her thick pigtails began shaking water from Catra’s hair as she babbled on about the fascinating implications of Bright Moon’s traditions, comparing them to Dryl’s.
“You did great,” Adora praised, feeling like she could be literally glowing, with how good she felt. A sharp claw tapped lightly on her shoulder and she pulled out of the hug just enough to see Catra grinning at her, a full show of fangs and sharp eyes.
“Hey Adora,” she purred, and kissed her again.

ISLAM 101: The Basic Concepts of Islam: Part 5
The Concept of Morality
The concept of morality in Islam centers around certain basic beliefs and principles. Among these are the followings: (1) God is the Creator and Source of all goodness, truth, and beauty. (2) Man is a responsible, dignified, and honorable agent of his Creator. (3) God has put everything in the heavens and the earth in the service of mankind. (4) By His Mercy and Wisdom, God does not expect the impossible from man or hold him accountable for anything beyond his power. Nor does God forbid man to enjoy the good things of life. (5) Moderation, practicality, and balance are the guarantees of high integrity and sound morality. (6) All things are permissible in principle except what is singled out as forbidden, which must be avoided. (7) Mans ultimate responsibility is to God and his highest goal is the pleasure of his Creator. The dimensions of morality in Islam are numerous, far-reaching and comprehensive. The Islamic morals deal with the relationship between man and God, man and his fellow men, man and the other elements and creatures of the universe, man and his innermost self. The Muslim has to guard his external behavior and his manifest deeds, his words and his thoughts, his feelings and intentions. In a general sense, his role is to champion what is right and fight what is wrong, seek what is true and abandon what is false, cherish what is beautiful and wholesome and avoid what is indecent. Truth and virtue are his goals. Humbleness and simplicity, courtesy and compassion, are his second nature. To him, arrogance and vanity, harshness and indifference, are distasteful, offensive and displeasing to God. More specifically, the Muslims relationship with God is one of love and obedience, complete trust and thoughtfulness, peace and appreciation, steadfastness and active service. This high – level morality will, undoubtedly, nourish and reinforce morality at the human level. For in his relationship with his fellow men, the Muslim must show kindness to the kin and concern for the neighbor, respect for the elderly and compassion for the young, care for the sick and support for the needy, sympathy for the grieved and cheer for the depressed, joy with the blessed and patience with the misguided, tolerance toward the ignorant and forgiveness of the helpless, disapproval of the wrong and rise above the trivial. Moreover, he must respect the legitimate rights of others as much he does his own. His mind must be occupied with constructive ideas and serious pursuits; his heart must beat with compassionate feelings and goodwill; his soul must radiate with peace and serenity; his counsel must be sincere and courteous. The Muslims moral obligation is to be a vivid example of honesty and perfection, fulfill his commitments and perform his tasks well, seek knowledge and virtue by all possible means, correct his mistakes and repent his sins, develop a good sense of social consciousness and nourish a feeling of human response, provide for his dependents generously without extravagance and meet their legitimate needs. Nature and the world are the field of exploration and the object of enjoyment for the Muslim. He must utilize their elements and ponder their marvels, read them as signs of Gods greatness and preserve their beauty, explore their wonders and discover their secrets. But whether he uses them for utility or for sheer enjoyment, he must avoid waste and excess. As a responsible agent of God and a conscientious trustee, he must always be mindful of others who share the world with him and who will succeed him in the future. The moral principles of Islam are sometimes stated as positive commitments which must be fulfilled and sometimes as negative prescriptions which must be avoided. Whether they are stated positively or negatively, they are designed to build in the human being a sound mind, a peaceful soul, a strong personality, and a healthy body. There is no doubt that these are necessary requirements of the general welfare and prosperity of mankind. And to help man to satisfy these requirements Islam has, among other things, laid down the following regulations: 1. To bear witness to the Oneness of God and the Messengership of Muhammad in a meaningful committal way; 2. To observe the daily prayers regularly; 3. To pay the religious tax known as alms or the poor-due (zakah); 4. To keep the fast of the Holy Month of Ramadan; 5. To make a pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca at least once in his lifetime. The moral and social implications of these regulations will be discussed later in detail. Besides these positive measures, there are others which may be called preventive and precautionary ones. To protect man from insanity and degeneration, from weakness and indulgence, from indecency and temptation, Islam has prohibited certain things pertaining to food, drinking, recreation, and sex. Among these are the following: 1. All kinds of intoxicating wines, liquors, and spirits (Quran, 2:219; 4:43; 5:93-94); 2. The meat and products of swine (pork, bacon, ham, lard), of wild animals that use claws or teeth to kill their victims (tigers, wolves, leopards, etc.), of all birds of prey (hawks, vultures, crows, etc.), of rodents, reptiles, worms and the like, of dead animals and birds that are not slaughtered properly (Quran, 2:172-173; 5:4-6); 3. All forms of gambling and vain sports (Quran, 2:219; 5:93-94); 4. All sexual relations out of wedlock and all manners of talking, walking, looking and dressing in public that may instigate temptation, arouse desire, stir suspicion, or indicate immodesty and indecency (Quran 23:5-7; 24:30-33; 70:29-31). This Act of Prohibition is introduced by God for the spiritual and mental well-being of man as well as for the moral and material benefit of humanity. It is not an arbitrary action or a self-imposed intrusion from God. On the contrary, it is a sign of Gods interest in the welfare of humanity and an indication of His good care for man. When God prohibits certain things, it is not because He wants to deprive man of anything good or useful. It is because He means to protect man and allow him to develop a good sense of discrimination, a refined taste for the better things in life, and continued interest in higher moral values. To achieve this, good care must be taken of man’s spirit and mind, soul and body, conscience and sentiments, health and wealth, physique and morale. Prohibition, therefore, is not deprivation but enrichment, not suppression but discipline; not a limitation but expansion. To show that all prohibitions are acts of mercy and wisdom, two Islamic principles are worth mentioning in this connection. First, extraordinary circumstances, emergencies, necessities, and exigencies allow the Muslim to do what is normally forbidden. As long as these circumstances exist and to the extent that he cannot help the situation, he is not to blame if he fails to observe the moral rules of God (see Quran, 2:173; 5:4). Secondly, God has inscribed for Himself the rule of mercy: any who do evil out of ignorance, but thereafter repent and amend their conduct, will be forgiven; surely God is Merciful and Oft-forgiving (Quran, 6:54). In a remarkable, typical passage, the Quran has laid down the grounds and philosophy of sound moral conduct. The passage may be rendered as follows: O Children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer; eat and drink, but waste not by excess, for God loves not the wasters. Say: Who has forbidden the beautiful gifts of God, which He has produced for His servants, and the things, clean and pure (which He has provided) for sustenance? Say: 'They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) purely for them on the Day of Judgement. thus do We explain the Signs in detail for those who understand, Say: The things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are: shameful deeds, whether open or secret, sins and trespasses against truth or reason; assigning of partners to God – and saying things about God of which you have no knowledge (Quran 7:31-33). The range of morality in Islam is so inclusive and integrative that it combines at once faith in God, religious rites, spiritual observances, social conduct, decision making, intellectual pursuits, habits of consumption, manners of speech, and all other aspects of human life. Because morality is such an integral part of Islam, the moral tone underlies all the passage of the Quran and the moral teachings are repeatedly stressed in various contexts throughout the Holy Book. This makes it difficult to devise any reasonably brief classification of these moral teachings according to their citations in the Quran. Every principle is mentioned many times in various contexts. It appears either as a single significant principle or as an element of a total system of morality, which itself is an element of a complete religious supersystem. In view of this, the following passages must be taken only as representative selections from the Quran, rendered and interpreted by human endeavors which, inevitably, fall short of the perfection of the original and complete version of the Book. Serve God, and join not any partners with Him; and do good; - to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, the needy ones, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (you meet), and what your right hands possess (captives, slaves, animals, birds, etc.): For God loves not the arrogant, the vainglorious; - (Nor) those who are niggardly or enjoin niggardliness on others, or hide the bounties which God has bestowed on them; for We have prepared for those who resist Faith a punishment that steeps them in contempt; (Nor) those who spend of their substance, (out of hypocrisy) just to be seen of men, but have no faith in God and the Last Day. If any take the Evil One for their intimate what a dreadful intimate he is! (4:36-38). Say (O Muhammad): Come, I will rehearse what God has (really) prohibited you from: join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want; for We provide sustenance for you and for them; And come not near to the orphans property, except to improve it, until he attains the age of full strength; give measure and weight with full justice; no burden do We place on any soul, but that which it can bear; and whenever you speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfill the Covenant of God. Thus does He Command you that you may remember. Verily, this is My Way, leading straight; follow it; follow not (other) paths: They will scatter you about from His Right path. Thus does He command you, that you may be righteous (6:151-153). God commands justice, the doing of good, and kindness to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that you may receive admonition. Fulfill the Covenant of God when you have entered into it, and break not your oaths after you have confirmed them; indeed you have made God your surety; for God knows all that you do . . . . Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on such (workers) their reward according to the best of their actions (16: 90-91, 97). Invite (all) to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching, and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious; for your Lord knows best, who have strayed from His Path, and who are truly guided (16:125). Who is better in speech than one who calls (others) to God, works righteousness, and says: I am one of those who bow in Islam. Nor can Goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is best. Then the one between whom and you there was hatred will become as it were your friend and intimate! (41:33-34). Whatever is given to you (here) is (only) a convenience of this Life. But that which is with God is better and more lasting. (It is) For those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and when they are angry even then forgive; those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for sustenance; and those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves. The recompense for an injury is an injury equal to it (in degree), but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from God, for God loves not those who do wrong. But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such (persons) there is no cause of blame. The blame is only against those who oppress men with wrongdoing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice. For such (oppressors and transgressors) there will be a penalty grievous. But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs (42: 36-43). If any do wish for the transitory things (of this Life), We readily grant them such things as We will, to such persons as We will, but in the end, We have provided Hell for them where they will burn, disgraced and rejected. And those who do wish for the (things of) the Hereafter, and strive therefor with all due striving, and have Faith, - they are the ones whose striving is appreciable (by God.). Of the bounties of your Lord, We bestow freely on all these as well as those: the bounties of your Lord are not closed (to anyone). (17:18-20) Take not with God another object of worship: or you (man!) will sit in disgrace and destitution. Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: My Lord! bestow on them Your mercy even as they cherished me in childhood. Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts. If you do deeds of righteousness, verily He is Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him again and again (in true penitence). After render to the kindred their due rights, as (also) to those in want, and to the wayfarer. But squander not (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord ungrateful. And even if you have to turn away from them (the said people), in pursuit of the Mercy from your Lord which you do expect, yet speak to them words of easy kindness. Make not your hand tied (like a niggard) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like an irresponsible squanderer, if you choose either way), you will become blameworthy and destitute (respectively). Verily your Lord does provide sustenance in abundance for whom He pleases, and He provides in a just measure; for He does know and regard all His servants. Kill not your children for fear of want. We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you, verily the killing of them is a great sin. Nor come near to adultery; for it is a shameful deed and an evil, opening the road (to other evils). Nor take life – which God has made sacred – except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, We have given his heir authority (to demand equal punishment or to forgive). But let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking a life; for he is helped (by the Law). Come not near to the orphan's property except to improve it, until he attains the age of full strength; and fulfill (every) engagement: for (every) engagement will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning). Give full measure when you measure and weigh with a balance that is straight. That is the most fitting and the most advantageous in the final determination. And pursue not that of which you have no knowledge (idle and useless curiosity); for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning). Nor walk on the earth with arrogance; for you cannot rend the earth asunder, nor reach the mountains in height. Of all such things, evil is hateful in the sight of your Lord. These are among the (precepts of) wisdom, which your Lord has revealed to you. Take note, with God, another object of worship, lest you should be thrown into Hell, blameworthy and rejected (17:22-39). We bestowed wisdom on Luqman: Show your gratitude to God. Anywho is grateful does so to the profit of his own soul. But if any is ungrateful, verily God is free of all needs, worthy of all praise ..And We have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents. In travail upon travail did his mother bear him, and in years twain was his weaning. (hear the command), show gratitude to Me and to your parents. To Me is your final Goal. But if they strive to make you join in worship with Me things of which you have no knowledge (or do any wrong), obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration), and follow the way of those who turn to Me (in love). In the end, the return of you all is to Me, and I will tell you the truth (and meaning) of all that you did O, my Son! (said Luqman): Establish regular prayer, enjoin what is just (and right) and forbid what is wrong; and bear with patient constancy whatever betide you; for this is firmness (of purpose) in (the conduct of) affairs. And swell not your cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for God loves not any arrogant boaster. And be moderate in your pace, and lower your voice; for the harshest of sounds, without doubt, is the braying of the ass (31:12-19) O you who believe! Intoxicants and gambling . . . are an abomination, of Satans handiwork. Avoid such (abomination), so that you may prosper. Satans plan is only to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of God and from prayer. Will you not then abstain? (5:90-91). But seek, with that which God has bestowed on you, the Home of the Hereafter. Nor forget your portion in this world. But you do good, as God has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land; for God Loves not the mischief makers (28:77). These selections can be supported by many others from the Quran and the Traditions of Muhammad. In themselves, they are sufficient to portray the fundamental morals of Islam. These Islamic morals are unique in their nature under all circumstances. They are introduced by God not simply to be admired occasionally but to be enforced and effective. They are meant to help the individual to develop his personality and cultivate his character in the most wholesome manner, to strengthen his bonds and consolidate his association with God, the Source of all Goodness. Never were the Islamic morals designed to intimidate the individual and make him passive or indifferent. One example will illustrate the point. If a Muslim is wronged or oppressed, he has the free choice either to resist and retaliate in an equal measure or to forgive and entrust God with the results of his deed. He knows that he is authorized to take either action, and he equally knows that it is better for him to forgive. So when he forgives, he does so with his own free choice for the love of God. Similarly, when he retaliates he is not violating the Law or acting unjustly; he is defending his rights, an attitude which is a sacred duty in itself, and is helping the rightful authorities to establish order and justice. If Islam were to demand absolute forgiveness as some other creeds do in theory, many undisciplined people would be tempted to do wrong and exceed all limits. Likewise, if Islam were to demand only retaliation, as some other creeds uthlessly teach, there would be no room for mercy and patience nor for spiritual reform and moral maturity, in which case many fine qualities of man would subside and many moral potentials may never be actualized. It is common knowledge that the people who are taught to forgive under all circumstances do not, and probably cannot, practice their teachings, because it is not the interest of humanity in the long run, nor is it in the interest of morality itself. Likewise, the people who are taught to practice stern retaliation have little or no respect for human virtues and care less for moral values as universal rules. But Islam, the Divine foster of human nature, has given the right answer to human problems. To those wrongdoers who are looking for a second chance, who may improve or benefit by granting them pardon, forgiveness is recommended and preferable. But against those who might misunderstand the motives of forgiveness or be tempted to pursue the wrong course, equal retaliation is authorized. Thus, the attitude of the Muslim, in either case, is sound and beneficial. When he forgives, he pleases God, retains the upper hand and contributes to the reformation of the delinquent. And when he retaliates, he defends the right, establishes order and justice, and helps to arrest evil. Now, which is sound morality? The attitude of the person who is a ruthless avenger indiscriminately? Or the attitude of a Muslim who makes room for mercy and forgiveness, and who allows for extraordinary circumstances? And who is normally sound? The person who forgives because he knows that he is not allowed to retaliate? Or a Muslim who forgives while he is fully aware that he can lawfully retaliate? Which is real forgiveness? The one resulting from external compulsion and prohibition not to act otherwise? Or the one resulting from freedom of choice and freedom of action? It is no wonder that the moral principles of Islam are sound, unique, and adaptive. They are the instructions of God, the Source of all goodness and morality.

Thy Kingdom Come
FCGCT Commentary: Mother of All Creation was Jesus as one of her last incarnations in her attempt to ascend the planet. All religious texts and scripture flipped this so that all energy would be sent to a masculine figure, a further representation of how the Cabal has attempted to write the feminine, Mother God, Source, out of their teachings.
Thy Kingdom Come
By Alison Dhuanna via Mahala’s Astrology
There has been so much incredible transformation of consciousness within humanity in the past few years it has at times been difficult to capture it in writing. Alongside these big shifts have been challenging events in Britain threatening to tear families and communities apart which have been some of the most challenging issues in terms of what to do or not do. This has mirrored the election of Trump in the USA and marks a turning point in history. It is in many ways a time to allow ourselves and others to grieve for lost worlds and ideals as we approach the Pluto Saturn conjunction in 2020.
What has been central in my world has been anchoring the 7th Violet Ray of the Atmic body (the auric ‘Thou Kingdom Come’) into the physical body – when this occurs it brings a deep sense of peace, purity of heart and stability and the more spacious thoughts of higher consciousness are able to permeate more and more of daily life.
Energy gathers around the heart centre and it becomes easier to let go of the things bothering or agitating the mind and emotions. Many people are experiencing this already and this will be accelerated at this New Moon 3rd June by the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ movement of billions of people across the globe praying for peace
At this New Moon at 12 degrees Gemini there is an alignment to Aldebaran one of the four Royal Watcher Stars. You may recall the extraordinary story of Saul who was a persecutor of the followers of Jesus and a military leader of the corrupt Roman State which had just executed him. On the road to Damascus Saul experienced an epiphany which threw him to the ground from his horse and left him blind. His healing three days later describes “scales falling from his eyes”. This is what this New Moon offers, the clarity which flows through the ‘Eye of the Bull’.
The north node is aligned with Juno, Goddess of the Sacred Marriage in watery Cancer. There are many dimensions to understand Juno, and an important one for now is to perceive her as a core energy opening the Seventh Seal of Solomon. As we approach the Mayan Day Out of Time this year it is a year of special significance for the number 7, and also there are important movements of Venus this year which resonate to the number 7 (see below for more on this)
In the past few years you will have heard me say many times that I perceive the opening of the Holy Grail codes through the conjunction of Astraea (Spear of Fire) and Hygiea (Grail Cup). Today however I want to refer to them as the energy of Communion, as an understanding and embodiment of the mysteries of the Eucharist and a profound experience of abundance and togetherness as One Body of life which transcends all religions, nations or even our planetary consciousness. At this New Moon Venus lies in Taurus between these two Goddess asteroids bringing a dancing, creative feminine energy and enhanced experience of Gaia’s profound beauty piercing our collective numbness. Together they are aligned with the Pleaides, the Seven Sisters.
Revelation 2.1–7
‘To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands:
This is a profound moment in time where the divine feminine really makes her mark, and to illuminate the way in which the Creator unfolds the great mystery I’d like to return to the story of Paul.
Having had his momentous experience, Paul sets out to be a very unexpected but effective apostle of Christ. He was a military man, so no doubt he had a very well thought out plan for the spread of these teachings across the world. Let us just remember for a moment the revolutionary nature of these teachings; every cultural norm from women’s’ position to cleanliness had been challenged by Jesus.
Paul’s plans though were changed after he had a dream and was sent instead by God to Macedonia in Greece. There by the river he met Lydia, a woman of substantial wealth and independence who traded in purple cloth. She, with her sisters regularly worshipped by a river. When Paul told her his story and that of Jesus, she became the first Apostle of the Western world in what must have been a most holy of places (there is still a church there to this day). Lydia’s story really moved me because she embodies so much of what I have come to know through so many years of struggling to embody these incredible Goddess Asteroid energies. Her sovereignty, royalty and wealth are very much resonant with Juno. Her independence and devotion very much resonate with Vesta the Priestess (in Aries at present moving into conjunction with Uranus). Her ability to take the ideas out into the world with such ease and grace really resonates with Pallas Athena (in Libra at the moment). It is not the first time Jesus takes his teachings first to women Apostles – think of Mary Magdalena at the tomb. Its quite astounding that women have been excluded from some areas of ministry for so long – though I am happy to say there is pretty much a gender balance now in the Church of England. When the male and female work together with dignity and respect miracles happen and this it seems from the story of Lydia, was always God’s plan. We have been wondering around in the desert for a long time figuring that out it seems. The Goddess Asteroids are the heavenly bodies which in some mysterious way transmit these ways of being to us.
Time as we know is fractal and holographic, and I feel a great deal may be learnt from how things have unfolded before and these patterns repeat themselves down the ages. Christ consciousness is here among, it is the Communion and feeling of deep belonging in the web of life.
In this next week as part of the Global Thy Kingdom Come movement, I would like to invite you to pray for 5 people every day who you would like to know the compassion and true nature of the Creator; for the scales to fall from their eyes. We can create amazing synergy in this way in the web of life and praying for others is one of the best ways I have experienced of truly connecting with the suffering and experience of humanity, and not getting too caught up in our own emotional turmoil. These prayers may be body prayers or art works, poems or stories.
Above is a painting I did of Lydia’s baptism with her sisters and the second painting below that was swimming in an Iodine infinity pool recently and feeling a complete sense of surrender and the Aqua ray of this feeling of “communion”. I’ve heard of a few others experiencing this Aqua ray recently and I feel it is very much connected to this new level of energy anchoring heaven to earth, all around and everywhere in the web of life. The number of Christ Consciousness is 33, another number which may pop up for you this year.

Change Your Mind, Change Your Life
Article Source: Deevra Norling
Financial expert, Suze Orman states that fear, shame and anger are the most common emotions surrounding money.
We all think that money is about our bank balance. Yes, of course, it is that too, but money is also strongly connected to emotions. And before you think that you are exempt from an emotional attachment to money, think again.
How do you feel when you realize you are down to your last penny? Fear, panic, depression and even anger?
Sometimes our feelings towards money are so strong that we start to hate money because we believe that it is the cause of all of our problems. Hate is a strong emotion.
Money has even been the reason some people have attempted suicide.
On the flip side, tell me how you will feel if you suddenly got news that you won the lottery, or inherited a vast sum of money? Elated, right? Relief -- end of my money problems. I'm free! Or so you think.
A sudden large lump sum of money even changes people. Money gives them status and makes them feel powerful. Suddenly an air of arrogance sets in.
Money also influences how people treat you. A homeless person walks into a high-end retail store and gets shooed out with contempt. A well-dressed man pulls up in a BMW and has the welcome mat rolled out for him. People have more respect for wealthy people. Sad but true.
That's the power of money.
What Drives Our Beliefs About Money?
It's clear that money evokes strong emotions and everyone has deeply-held and often subconscious beliefs about money. But where do our feelings about money come from?
Our thoughts about money often stem from childhood. How our parents handled money provides the foundation for how we may handle money. This is reason generational poverty and generational wealth exists. Poor people impart bad money habits and beliefs to their children. On the other hand, wealthy people tend to impart their philosophies and strategies on wealth creation to the children. Coupled with that is the inability of poor people to fund further education for their children and the advantage children from wealthy homes have right from the start, and so the cycle continues.
Add to that the fact that formal schooling does not include financial education, and so we go forth into the world with little or no financial roadmap and soon we are making bad financial decisions, running up debt and have ourselves entangled in a financial mess in next to no time.
Financial psychologists Bradley Klontz and Ted Klontz refer to the term "money script" to describe our core beliefs about money. They say that "money scripts are typically unconscious, developed in childhood, passed down from generation to generation within families and cultures, contextually bound, and often only partial truths".
To find out which money script you have running through your head, read the article What did your parents REALLY teach you about money?
The Truth About Money
The truth is that the problem isn't money. The problem is how we approach money, how we think about money and how we handle money. People who constantly think negatively about money, tend to be plagued by money problems their whole life. People who believe that money is something within their control, are the ones who become more successful and ultimately increase their money. Those are the people who instead of complaining about their lack of money, educate themselves about money. Financial intelligence is the basis for growing wealth.
Danielle LaPorte wrote in article Getting Emotional About Money, "I tend to think of money in the same way I regard time. It's a form of energy. It comes and goes according to my intentions. The clearer my intentions, the more the money flows."
A change in our financial situation starts with a change in how we think about money. Clearing out the negative thoughts about money will remove the blockages that are preventing money from flowing to us.
The Disastrous Pursuit of Money
While we should examine our feelings towards money and strive to manage money better, we should not allow it to consume us.
We all need money to live and money does make life easier and more comfortable and gives us access to better services.
Sadly, in today's world, money is the center of many people's lives, to the detriment of their health, family, and quality of life. Materialism and consumerism are driving people. Everyone is trying to keep up with everyone else with the best gadgets, cars, and houses. So deep is the need to impress that we feel embarrassed to tell our friends we can't join them at that expensive restaurant when we don't have money.
Again, what is driving this? It's our emotions. We feel better about ourselves when we have the latest iPhone or walk around in designer labels. We want to impress people with how much money we have. Money validates us. Money makes us feel we are somebody.
If this is your relationship to money, you are on a slippery slope. These are the wrong reasons for chasing money. Money should enhance our lives, not run it.
There's nothing wrong with these things per se. They're nice to have. However, if your world revolves around this, then you've lost sight of what's really important in life. What many fail to realize is that there are worse things in life than not having money. Having no loved ones, having poor health, having no friends to offer support during tough times, having no spiritual connection, having no purpose in life.
Changing Our Attitudes Towards Money
What we should be striving for is to develop a healthier relationship with money.
Money has such a powerful impact on people that a sudden gain or loss in money can have a profound effect on some people's personalities and attitudes. It can turn a nice person nasty or a happy person miserable. It can inspire greed and selfishness. More money can actually be a bad thing for some people.
But in most cases, money will not fundamentally change who you are or what you believe. At your core, you will still be the same person with or without money. Similarly, if you are bad at handling a little money, you'll be bad at handling a lot of money.
That initial elation at the sudden abundance of money quickly fades and you go right back to being the way you always were. That's why the saying "money can't buy you happiness" was coined. That initial joy is fleeting. There are many unhappy rich people.
The key is to find peace and contentment with or without lots of money. For once we have our focus in life clear and stop allowing money to have so much power over us, any changes in our financial situation will have a less devastating impact on our emotions.
Financial guru Suze Orman sums it up best. "People really do not have a clue at all," she says with deep conviction. "They think the reason they are miserable -- that they are an emotional wreck -- is because they have absolutely no money. They honestly think that if they had more money they would have fewer problems. The problem is that it's not true! The reason they don't have more money is because of how they feel about their life and who they are. Who you are determines what you have and get to keep. You define your money. You define the things around you. But money and the things around you can never truthfully define who you are."

This Is NOT Why We’re Marxists
[Bourgeois] Socialism sought to depreciate every revolutionary movement in the eyes of the working class by showing that no mere political reform, but only a change in the material conditions of existence, in economical relations, could be of any advantage to them. By changes in the material conditions of existence, this form of Socialism, however, by no means understands abolition of the bourgeois relations of production, an abolition that can be affected only by a revolution, but administrative reforms, based on the continued existence of these relations; reforms, therefore, that in no respect affect the relations between capital and labour, but, at the best, lessen the cost, and simplify the administrative work, of bourgeois government.
Bourgeois Socialism attains adequate expression when, and only when, it becomes a mere figure of speech.Free trade: for the benefit of the working class.
Protective duties: for the benefit of the working class. Prison Reform: for the benefit of the working class. This is the last word and the only seriously meant word of bourgeois socialism.
It is summed up in the phrase: the bourgeois is a bourgeois — for the benefit of the working class.
-Marx, The Manifesto of the Communist Party
In her review for Jacobin of Thomas Piketty’s Capital in the Twenty-First Century, entitled Why We’re Marxists, Professor Nivedita Majumdar identifies two of the right’s pet dismissals when confronted with irrefutable evidence of the severe and growing inequality that Capitalism has wrought. The first, and the one that has historically done the most work for them, is that inequality is actually good because it's fair. “Greed is good."
When this is demonstrated to be undeniably false, as Piketty does in his book, reactionaries fall back to their second line of defense, a little nugget of wisdom we all learn in Kindergarten: money doesn’t make you happy. I mean, haven’t you seen A Christmas Carol? It’s a Wonderful Life?
To illustrate this second brush off, Majumdar references conservative columnist and perennial dullard Megan McArdle's claim that
,‘...the proportion of this unhappiness due to income inequality is actually relatively small.’ Instead, McArdle contends in her review of Piketty’s book — which she admits to not have read — that what is needed ‘is the sense that you can plan for a decent life filled with love and joy and friendship, then send your children on to a life at least as secure and well-provisioned as your own.’
This is on-brand for McArdle, who likes to beguile you with trite sentimentalities in order to obscure whatever obscenity she's justifying; Megan is the type to hang a “Laugh, Love, Live” sign on an Auschwitz guard tower. And let's face it, this is more than a little self-serving for millionaire Washington Post columnist who, last I checked, has not tossed out her vast fortune because it doesn’t “spark joy.” In other words, McArdle probably doesn’t believe this, but maybe we should, and Majumdar is correct to caution the Left against being too hastily dismissive:
“The reason arguments disavowing the connection between money and happiness have such a lasting appeal is because there is a kernel of truth to them. The realization of human potential and happiness is much more intricately connected with creativity, art, science, myriad cultural practices, and forms of solidarity and community rather than materiality.”
And, she points out, Marx would absolutely agree.
But then Majumdar does something odd; she tries to smuggle in the importance of “materiality” anyway. Her argument is that McArdle and her ilk are correct, not because happiness is derived from wealth in and of itself, but to the extent that “material well-being” brings about the conditions for human fulfillment (or is at least it’s minimum requirement). This is strikingly banal; I suspect that even McArdle is aware that we’re not seeking wealth redistribution because we like the smell of the dollar bills themselves. Majumdar goes on to say,
“The moral power of Marx’s work doesn’t just derive from its systematic demystification of capitalism; it also flows from his insistence that capitalism cannot generate the conditions for human flourishing. He never equated material well-being with happiness, but he knew that there can be no happiness without material well-being…. The crime of capitalism is that it forces the vast majority of the population to remain preoccupied with basic concerns of nutrition, housing, health, and skill acquisition. It leaves little time for fostering the community and creativity that humans crave.”
Did you catch that? Majumdar seems to be suggesting that Capitalism cannot generate the conditions for human flourishing because it can’t provide material well-being, which of course it can and does, just not for most workers. And those workers that are not provided with material well-being are therefore too preoccupied with survival to do any of the things which lead to genuine happiness.
This simply does not suffice as a complete explanation for why Capitalism causes widespread unhappiness (which it does). A preoccupation with survival is, to some extent or another, an immovable part of the human condition.
Marx identifies two primary dialectical relationships which propel human history forward: man vs man, and man vs nature. The temporary conflict of man vs man is understood to be a function of class relations to the means of production and is expressed through class struggle, but once this conflict is resolved (through a communist revolution), man vs nature will persist. The synthesis of that conflict (dialect) will continue to dictate humanity’s standard of living, probably for all time. This is why we can easily imagine that human beings, before the rise of classes and after their abolition, would still be spending a great deal of time and effort on survival, perhaps for short periods of time (famine, natural disaster) or perhaps for whole generations (ice age, infectious disease). Even so, I’m willing to bet that most people were a lot “happier” before the rise of agriculture and class-based society, the period Marxists often refer to as “primitive communism.”
Mujamdar hastily adds that the injustice in all this is that we as a species actually do produce more than enough to “ensure basic material satisfaction for all,” and this is true, but what she’s not claiming that the injustice itself is what is making people unhappy, but it’s consequence: material deprivation, and the preoccupation on survival that it entails.
This is all highly politically convenient for anyone straining to see salvation in the likes of the DSA and other reformist “socialist” organizations which pursue what Marx called Bourgeois Socialism, which seek to address the excesses of Capitalism without directly addressing Capitalist social relations. That’s what programs like single-payer healthcare and free college are to Bourgeois Socialists, methods of wielding class exploitation for the proletariat; not battles in the war to end society’s domination by the owning class, but an ends in and of themselves, a way of providing working with a lifestyle more akin to the Bourgeoisie, in particular the Petty Bourgeoisie, who generally have access to healthcare, education, housing, retirement, culture, science, etc.
Lenin:
The petty-bourgeois democrats, those sham socialists who replaced the class struggle by dreams of class harmony, even pictured the socialist transformation in a dreamy fashion — not as the overthrow of the rule of the exploiting class, but as the peaceful submission of the minority to the majority which has become aware of its aims. This petty-bourgeois utopia, which is inseparable from the idea of the state being above classes, led in practice to the betrayal of the interests of the working classes, as was shown, for example, by the history of the French revolutions of 1848 and 1871, and by the experience of “socialist” participation in bourgeois Cabinets in Britain, France, Italy and other countries at the turn of the century.
-The State and Revolution
Just as “the bourgeoisie naturally conceives the world in which it is supreme to be the best,” (Marx), it also conceives of it’s way of being in the world, though mutable and dependent, to be an ideal to which every other class aspires. On the other hand, workers naturally conceive of different aspirations--especially collectivism--grounded in their own experience of reality, but are prevented from realizing those aspirations by that reality. The laundering of bourgeois values and lifestyles through it’s media, universities, political parties, etc., distorts our ideas about ourselves, what we want, and how to get it. Naturally, this can similarly distort our politics, particularly in the arena of reform struggles, where the revolutionary nature of the working class can become secondary to immediate, temporary gains. The political project of committed reformers can be summarized as an effort to make the proletariat more like the bourgeoisie, or, as Marx put it, “They wish for a bourgeoisie without a proletariat.” In America, the net result is a cultural obsession with the Petty Bourgeoisie, that class that Bourgeois politicians (usually) mean by “middle class,” people who must work but also meaningfully supplement their income through investments. We hate the Petty Bourgeoisie and we want to be the Petty Bourgeoisie, and this is no accident.
If our political project is primarily about transforming workers into the Petty Bourgeoisie through state intervention, it begs the questions, are the Petty Bourgeoisie actually happy?
Now, it won’t do to get too ahead of ourselves. By and large, the Petty Bourgeoisie are happier, and much of that has to do with lower levels of stress and instability, higher career attainment, more free time, financial and employment security, etc. But this does not mean they flourish in the way Marx was talking about; it won't surprise anyone who has spent much time around the Petty Bourgeoisie that they are often miserable, self-conscious, restless, guilt ridden, petty, and desperate for purpose. Substance abuse and depression are common. This is not a case for pity, but a cautionary tale; ascension into the Petty Bourgeoisie, if it were possible for all workers--it's not--may not be all it's cracked up to be.
An overworked and under rewarded Proletariat is certainly a crime of Capitalism, but it is not the crime. The crime is wage slavery for the purposes of commodity production. The crime is that there is a Proletariat at all (and a Petty Bourgeoisie, and the Bourgeoisie above them). Once you grasp this, it becomes clear that Majumdar’s argument is akin to claiming that chattel slaves would have been "happy" with their social position if only they’d been given more free time, a college education, and enough food to eat. Such a thing would never happen, but if it did, it wouldn't even come close to redressing the wrong done. Astoundingly, it seems that Megan McArdle, who is very dumb, nonetheless grasps something that Majumdar, who is not dumb, does not: human happiness, or contentment, or fulfillment, or whatever, actually is compatible with struggle, even material deprivation. Human happiness may even be contingent on struggle, just not the sorts of struggles that Capitalism mires us in. The fact of the matter is, Capitalism cannot generate the conditions for human flourishing, whether or not it provides material well-being, because all material well-being under Capitalism is predicated on the exploitation of labor, drags all classes down with false consciousness, and torments us all with alienation.
Picture Tatiana, a middle-aged pharmacologist who, 15 years ago, pursued her advanced degree in the hopes of making good money, sure, but also because she wanted to make a contribution to society; namely, the eradication of some terrible disease. Unfortunately she discovered that getting adequately paid to pursue her deeply motivating and personal goal was a lot more difficult than she expected. After some valiant attempts to keep the dream alive, she now finds herself resigned to a Big Pharma firm, researching boner pills for a six figure salary that supports the kind of lifestyle that is unburdened from the material deprivations of her youth. Between the salaries commanded by herself and her handsomely paid lawyer husband, the family has more than enough income and paid time off to travel, paint, attend ballets, read poetry, etc. Tatiana tries to remain up on the scientific literature in her field, teaches classical singing to her children, and volunteers on the weekends at her church.
And yet, Tatianna is deeply depressed all the same.
She finds her relationships with friends superficial and competitive; her relatively modest wealth embarrassing and gaudy; her marriage contentious and unsatisfactory, punctuated by shouting matches about domestic labor and anxieties about childrearing and the future; even in her volunteer work she can’t seem to wash off the stink of social division as she, the giver, provides the meals, and the receivers, the desperate people who file through the soup kitchen, wordlessly accept what she gives. She craves a more intimate connection but cannot see any way of achieving it.
And the job. Most of all, there’s the job; the lonely, soul crushing, purposeless job, with it’s needy subordinates, backstabbing peers, soulless and sleazy corporate execs, and the hours upon hours--easily over fifty a week--of tedium and wasted potential, all to produce a cheaper version of a largely pointless drug in order to pad the profit margins of the company’s shareholders. Tatianna doesn't choose what she's working on or why. She doesn't produce for the good of society, or because it fulfills her desire for a creative, productive outlet, or because her community thrives from her contribution. She's at the mercy of the market, even at her privileged position. Despite some fruitful mutual fund investments, she is, like nearly everyone, forced to participate in commodity production in order to survive. Single-payer healthcare, a higher minimum wage, free college, guaranteed housing, UBI; these things would solve a lot of problems for a lot of people, but it won’t fix the ills that haunt Tatiana.
Now imagine Tatiana in an entirely different context, where wage slavery has not been "perfected" but abolished, and, freed from the shackles of commodity production, she is no longer alienated from the fruits of her labor or from the members of her community. Her family lives modestly, but is secure in their interdependence on the rest of society; they will be taken care of if the need arises, just as they take care of those that require it now. She has no need to concern herself with retirement investments, college admissions, keeping her Linkedin up to date, etc. Sometimes she spends the day pursuing pharmacological research at a co-op, engaged in the difficult task of mutual accountability and democratic decision making. Sometimes, when the need arises, she agrees to work long nursing shifts at the hospital, returning home tired and drained but confident that her labor saved lives. Sometimes she spends the whole day teaching music to her children, and maybe the neighbors' children, too, with no concern that she will be fired for taking the day off, or become unable to make her mortgage payments due to lost income, or that she will miss out on a promotion for lack of dedication to the company. She has many friends who have diverse interests and passions, none of whom are any better off or worse off than she; none of whom are any more or less essential, more or less valued, none of whom have social/cultural/racial/economic power over her, or vice versa. And the husband? Maybe the lack of stress and the equitable expectations of domestic labor prevented the deterioration of their relationship. Maybe they were good friends who had children together but never felt compelled--socially or financially--to embark on a relational form that was a bad fit for both of them. And maybe she ditched him a while back because, after all, her life is not dependent on their shared finances, and now she finds that they're both much happier co-parenting and casually dating other people.
It's not all roses; in many ways it's more difficult than the Petty Bourgeois lifestyle she was afforded by Capitalism. But it is a decent life, filled with love, and joy, and friendship, and the confidence that her children--if raising children is something she wanted--will have the same opportunity to care for and be cared for.
