FUNNIEST fucking shit that comes with making Danny eleven years old when he had his accident in "late at night, when the nightingale sings" is the implication following, that everything that happened in the show did too. And I fully intend on (mostly) keeping it like that. There'll be some changes (of which I need to figure out) but for the most part??? Yeah relatively the same.

Like I FULLY intend on keeping Dark Danny occurring 6 months post accident. Do you know how fucking HILARIOUS that is??? That Dan got his ass kicked by a goddamn FIFTH-SIXTH GRADER?? I'd never show my face ever again. Homeboy spent the last ten years being a one-man mass extinction event, only to get his ass beat by a kid who hasn't even lost his last baby tooth. That's hysterical. I'm losing my mind just thinking about it.

AND PARIAH DARK TOO. Imagine being an eons old tyrant capable of dragging whole towns down into your dimension, and you get singehandedly shoved back into your coffin in less than 48 hours by a kid whose bedtime is still 8:30. You didn't even have the time to expand your army! You were still trying to take over the city the kid came from!

And he just!!! Shoves you back in!! Insane! This kid hasn't even been dead for a full year yet! He's still growing in his ghost fangs! And he just knocked you flat on your ass in an oversized mech suit. What the fuck! It's like looking down and seeing a four week old kitten meowing very indignantly at you and trying to bite your feet, except that kitten is also actually a black-footed cat and they have a 60% kill success rate, and oops! Now you're dead. You took too long laughing at the kitten trying to attack you that it clawed up your pant leg and ripped out your throat.

COULD I, realistically, span these episodes out over the course of 2.5 years prior to Danny's family dying?? Yes I could! Do I think it's hilarious (and horribly traumatizing, which makes it twice as fun) to shove all of this into the span of (roughly) a year instead?? Yes. Because the show has such a skewed timeline that I've always just assumed that at the end of the show, Danny was starting his sophomore year in high school. So fuck it, lets go for it!

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

in my head after the events of camlann merlin returns to camelot and, still riddled with terrible guilt and grief, confesses to leon about everything that had happened and everything he had done, magic and all. and instead of outrage or betrayal or scorn or judgement (or even death, as he had briefly considered) leon shatters him with a deeply apologetic expression and a whispered “my friend… you must have been so afraid, and so tired.” and merlin collapses into heaving sobs against him and doesn’t get back up for a long time.

I've been reading animorphs the last while and honestly, it fucks so hard sometimes.

It's been days since I finished the book about the Howlers (26?) and I am still rotating it in my head. Erek, the pacifist, intentionally hid the fact he found out Howlers were basically just toddlers from the Animorphs because he wanted them to kill the Howlers. The animorphs only find out after they've already killed one, after Erek already had the info, but once they find out... they commit to solving the issue in a true pacifistic manner. They see a way to end this peacefully and actually aim for it. Erek, so blinded by hate, didn't even try to give a non-violent solution with the same information. He intentionally didn't want them hesitating in their quest to kill the Howlers, so he said nothing.

Like that's just. So good. It's such a great and brutal portrayal of selfish pacifism. His solution was to murder creatures who didn't know any better, but by someone's else's hands. Because he wanted them dead. His hands are technically clean, but he himself is not innocent.

And he's not a villain; I think that's what threw me the most. A lot of series I can think of, especially- but not exclusively- other kid series, would firmly have thrown Erek into a villain adjacent role with that scene- he was hoping for child murder! One WAS killed!- but the next book, they're helping him out with no issue, and he returns the favor. He's still a "good guy", just a rather selfish one in the right circumstances. Animorphs is just so good at leaving everyone morally grey.

Anyway I'm really enjoying my reading of the series. I liked it as a kid, but... damn I might like it even more as an adult lol

not usually a solavellan person but imagining the companion dynamics changing post-breakup and especially if lavellan decided to let solas take their vallaslin?? many thoughts. because without the context of solas being the dread wolf and then his refusal to give lavellan any solid reason why he's breaking up with them, the entire scene just feels like he takes lavellan out presumably for some sort of date night or hookup, tells them a key part of their culture is actually not what they thought at all and are actually slave markings, and then immediately breaks up with them without explanation no matter what they choose. how. how does that not rewrite at least a little of what the other companions and advisors think of solas.

One of my perhaps unpopular opinions is being a full-time at-home caregiver (to a parent, a child, whomever) should absolutely be considered work and should absolutely be paid like having a conventional job.

Giving caregivers the financial stability and freedom to live as independently as possible is important, especially in terms of being somebody's caregiver. Both the carer and caree deserve to be stable, independent, and have their needs met.
