now, you were full on crying. you couldn’t believe you had such amazing friends and were able to reconnect with the only boy you’ve ever really loved.

it had been hard work, producing so many youtube videos that ended up with no views, moving to la with only enough to pay rent. and while you were struggling, your friends were always there for you. when your career finally took off, they never treated you different. even during the break up with rafe, sarah supported you completely, despite you shit talking her brother for weeks.

i think people are also upset by aus because this is probably their first (or one of their first) fandoms. they probably don't realize how loved and important aus are to fandom culture. it's the same reason writers are being commodified and seen as content creators. they're new to the fandom space (and were probably often the people who made fun of people for reading fanfics when they were younger) and instead of learning the culture and rules of the space they want it to conform to what they think it should be.

lots of new people have been getting extremely upset by tropes (like dark/dead dove) or anything that strongly deviates from canon because imo they're in their y/n/main character phase (like the kinda cringy type of y/n that was popular in the early-mid 2010s who's ✨not like other girls✨) who obvi is this badass aviator who takes no shit and totally hates (insert dagger here) but gasp they secretly have feelings for them or this sweet girl next door that (insert dagger here) can't help but fall in love with

not to say there's anything wrong with those but when they refuse to allow any creativity it gets super boring. especially when the reader is blatantly white coded

Kara, genuinely. GENUINELY? You are one of my favorite human beings ever omg and I’m laughing because I and many other authors on here have said some of the same exact things.

Because I couldn’t have articulated this point better if I tried. AUs are such a vital part of the fandom ecosystem and experience as a whole, and the new attitudes towards fandom have really caused us to lose sight of that.

I cannot tell you how many time I’ve had this conversation and with how many authors on here that think the same thing. Those of us who’ve been in fandom for years (decades, even) are fighting tooth and nail to keep the culture alive because people who are new to fandom never bothered to learn the culture or etiquette associated with any of it. It’s horrible.

It’s like a Mary Sue fiasco all up in every fandom lmaooooooo

And there are so many things that people don’t even realize are AU coded. Hell, if you really break it down, that’s all fanfiction is. AU is whatever you want it to be, and I’ll defend it with my dying breath because it’s so much fun to put characters into different scenarios and see what they’ll do!!

You gotta let your writers deviate from the formula. The formula is nice, but idk about anyone else, but if I eat the same thing over and over and over and over again? I get bored and tired of it.

watari brings up how excited and affectionate juliette gets whenever he catches a glimpse of them together. L doesn’t get why watari is bringing this up. watari suggests that perhaps, juliette has a crush on L.

so L brings this up with juliette. she denies it terribly (because they’re such a mess when they’re flustered), but after relenting, L reveals that he brought it up because he’s interesting in learning more about it. he has trouble identifying his own emotions and hasn’t been in love before, so he asks me to be apart of a study. it’s just information, essentially, letters detailing specific sensations and lovey dovey thoughts i get of him.

i agree to it because i LOVE psychology and have always wanted to be apart of a psychological study!

but at this point, L isn’t in love with me. he slowly falls over time, much to his mental debates on if it’s “ethical” or not. (he’s overthinking it!!! ALSO, WOW, L thinking about morals when it comes to someone?? they must be a ~special someone~ to him 🤭)

the stoic character who keeps to himself is (mutually) in love with the visually expressive, musically inclined jester!!! (does this make sense 😭)

juliette is with L throughout the entire kira case. the first time the taskforce meets L, she’s just standing to his right side (it’s a whole thing) in a lolita getup, so they assume, like watari, that juliette is a maid to L of sorts. but NO, juliette just fucking LOVES fashion lmaooooooo

ANYWAYS, what i’m trying to get to is that juliette loves music. it connects to them on such a deep level, and they love to sing and entertain. so sometimes, as a break/interlude in the kira case, she sings and plays songs. (they’re oddly captivating… just like a performer at an event.)

L can’t have the taskforce knowing him and juliette’s interpersonal relationship, so he and juliette have silently agreed to refer to each other as “associates” whenever the question comes up.

juliette talks out loud a lot as a habit. but, again, she likes to be entertaining first and foremost, so she only says things she thinks will be the most intriguing. she can keep to herself just fine. but L knows. he knows how intentional everything they do is. he can relate, and is intrigued about this part of them. and without fail, he listens, catalogues, and responds to everything she says U///U because he caaaaares 🥹🥹🥹 (much to light’s annoyance during the case lol)

Hi!!! Yes, I’m going next Friday 🫣 This’ll be my third time haha.

Since I went for work over the summer and will be going this time too, I don’t have too many recommendations for hotels and stuff- My first time going, I spent Christmas there with 5 of my friends and we all split an Airbnb for a week, and I think it was $250 per person? So pretty affordable imo? For work, they put me in a business hotel which is DEF not affordable…. But what I will say is, consider a few factors aside from cost if you can. Location and convenience can make all the difference. Most Airbnbs don’t have elevators (and they can be illegal Airbnbs too!) so if you’re someone who needs accommodation with accessibility, hotel is the way to go. If this is your first time traveling abroad or you need more “security” then hotel is a better bet. But hotels are expensive and they’re usually in the touristy parts, so if you’re looking for something more “authentic”, then Airbnb for sure lol.

My autism goes brrrrrr on trips, so I’m a planner (my poor friends, man….) anyhow, I always create a schedule just to know what the vibes are for every day. Like literally, I’m going to be there Jan 4-Feb 10 just because I want to stay for Johnny’s birthday 🧍‍♀️ And I have on my calendar that day 1, I’m speed running the NCT Zone pop up and all of my fav kpop stores lol. So if you’re trying to find things to do there, don’t skip on the touristy things, I promise they’re worth it!! I have to go to Gyeongbukgong Palace for a 3rd time this trip lol…. Lotte Tower is soooo cool (but I think Lotte World can be a hit or a miss tbh). My fav kpop stores are ofc Kwanga Seoul (I get soooo much NCT merch there), whatever the store is called in Gangnam on the main road kinda near Five Guys? I think Meochi or something? Ktown4u at Coex is my spott 🥰 Also Withmuu in Hongdae. Allllll of the shops in Myeongdong’s train station. I was searching for Glitch Mode Jeno for so long, bro. So long. And I found ONE. COUNT EM, ONE!!!! In one of the shops there. Also they have a shit ton of photocard packs which I eat up lol. Ummmm. There’s some others. If you guys want my Naver spots, I can post that.

Speaking of Naver- Google Maps doesn’t work in Korea, so live and breathe Naver!! English is iffy on there, esp if you’re trying to find an exact address, so google the Korean names of things you’re trying to find then paste it into Naver (if you don’t know Korean). For example, if you’re trying to find Animate at AK PLAZA, you could look up AKA Plaza, but if you’re looking for Animate specifically, you might have to put in the Korean name 👍

If you’re a picky eater, do not fear. I promise, guys, I had more chicken and beer… and fast food than anything else there. I literally went to subway my first night in the summer 🧍‍♀️ And my coworkers took us to Five Guys. Yes, it’s just as expensive as here, idk why. Taco Bell is lit cuz they have beer. McDonald’s is hellaaaaa good. So there’s always stuff if you don’t end up liking some Korean foods. The only one I can never do is Samyetang in Insadong 😣 Try sundubu if you haven’t already!!! If you do know a good amount of Korean, they’ll be soooo happy to talk to you, and also they will not fuck around and try to practice their English on you like I’ve experienced in other countries where I’m speaking the native language semi-fluently and they hit me with “😒 will that be for here or to go” no no, they hear Korean and they start GOINGGGG. I went to the Valorant pop up in the airport over the summer, and I just walked up and said “안녕하세요” shyly and the guy was like 🤨 “you speak Korean?” “죽음, 네“ and bro started speed running the instructions and explanation in Korean. Unrelated tidbit but I really didn't know how to introduce Vera before starting the fic and was debating on starting from pre-RE2R in the summer of 1998, spend five chapters and so with Vera assisting Jill in her investigation and unravel things from there. But at the end I was like "literally nobody would read that" and thought what best technique is there by starting right in the middle of action and chaos? And the rest I winged it.

That had to mean I had to go through EVERYTHING about her life and how she got to that point by peppering the events throughout the plot as Leon and her story also progressed alongside it, and I couldn't gloss over anything, so it just expanded and expanded and expanded and I'm sure got boring as hell at places since she hides a bunch of shit from the others and good god do they have to be integrated to the plot of re2r AND UGHHHHHHHH. About the canon. I have a bone to pick with some of the game and the story, I don't like how they went about a couple of things. This is me trying to lay the groundwork to fix them and everything by tweaking .

For example Leon pulling the "i have to talk to the chief first" bs and saying "Idk what happened it happened to fast" to ada like he was trying to make excuses like a child to his parent really irked me, especially in the original re2 he bent over backwards to get ben out of the cell so he could come along with them. (dont talk to me about how a law-abiding rookie he's supposed to be. that could have been done better. leon simply isn't a person to leave someone like that, and he was hearing about chef irons the writing on that could have been better) And the way Claire and Leon barely interacted when they are the core of re2 together was just not it. The lack of Sherry and Leon together was also weird when Sherry is a big part of why he was taken by the government and stayed, and how Sherry blatantly says he saved her in RE6. (I know they just completely wiped the slate clean off Sherry and Leon with RE4R backstory by just saying Leon just didnt have a choice but like. yeah) and also Ada. God Ada "(to the woman she wants to discreetly capture. since she's A SPY) We're here for the g-virus and i will now proceed to jump in front of the bullets" & "Where's Leon when I need him (has treated him as a nuisance the whole way)" Wong. Im sure there are a lot more things but i cant think of them rn but I am annoyed with Things

Today I asked god to let a barrier be open on my journey. It was this morning infact. I’d forgot my cards ; oyster and work card and only had my phone. It didn’t work this morning but I wasn’t too bothered it was in coming back that it occurred to me that I wasn’t on times side as my phone was on 18% and I’d left work later than usual. It dawned on me in green park that I didn’t want to pay for the travel full way and I thought about the barrier being open because I asked god for it. Bro I got to London Bridge and there was a officer standing infront of an open barrier blocking another guy trying to get thru. So I diverted to the other barriers and saw there was another open one and went thru that one!!! I remember having this warm feeling inside near my diaphragm area and looking up saying to myself “God is listening to me!! God is listening to MEEEE!!” had I not believed if I would have faced the same fate as brodie with the security. The lesson here is trusting in your inner god to get what you want. As above so below.
