do y’all ever think. about how L. might not even consider himself to be a person at times?

like he usually interacts with people digitally, whether it’s through call or text. he doesn’t care for his appearance— he most likely takes care of his hygiene for maintenance sakes. he doesn’t care how all the sugar he’s eating is bad for him, i’ve never seen him drink water, only coffee or tea…

just… if someone isn’t interacting with anyone, they can start to feel less real. they’re just an idea.

i say death note is my first anime, but it’s… complicated?

the first anime i watched as an unsupervised child was azumanga daioh.

but i’d say the moment i started to actively enjoy anime was when i watched death note for the first time at the beginning of this year 🤔

That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science

as much as that take makes sense, I HONESTLY DON’T KNOW IF THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED!!! /not mad

because the clip immediately preceding this has the voice director saying,

“There was a lot of opportunity for him to… kinda… throw.. throw in some oddball choices that really worked well.”

AND IT’S LIKE— IT’S LIKE the voice director was remembering this moment in particular when he was going on this train of thought, and had to try his DARNEDEST to not let the train fall screeching onto its side.

the implications that juliani made the decision to deliver some of L’s lines in a sultry way… explains a LOT about certain moments in the dub, tbh. (of course i would be aware of those moments jdksjdksjdksjsjs)

the main thing that makes me believe this theory is just the look he gives to the camera after delivering the line. like. that is the face of a man who is ENTIRELY AWARE of what he’s doing, but he can’t be stopped.

additionally, watch the final scene of this in the english dub. it is so radically different, it’s not suggestive at ALL 🤣😭😭 (voice performance wise, anyways)
