Beautiful Things, A Peter Parker Thought.

Peter parker brainrot because I love him sm :( I didn't want to envision Tony dead only because I just rewatched endgame and I hated it again. I normally ignore the timeline and pretend that everything after Age of Ultron never happened just because I like my happy place. But alas :(, Tony being dead here makes sense. This just me talking through Peter. :)

As New York City’s friendly neighborhood spider-man, Peter realizes just how fast a life can be spared or taken away from someone.

He’s seen it countless times, enough to permanently stain his brain and his dreams. After seeing someone die for the first time as Spider-Man, he went to church the next day, for the first time in years. He prayed, genuinely, to whoever he thought was there to hear his inner thoughts, not for himself, but for the sake of the people around him. He was never really a religious kid, but he was raised in an actively worshiping household.

That night, as he lay in bed, he couldn’t shake the pit in his stomach, tossing and turning around in his bed. He shot up with a cold sweat, taking in gulps of the cold air in his room to calm himself down. As he tries to remember who or what he saw in his dream, he pauses. Surely this wasn’t some sort of spiritual awakening, right? As the days went by, turning into months, he realized just how much he was missing with the newfound sense of warmth in his chest. He thinks about his friends, his family, both dead and still alive, and the people he’s yet to meet. For the first time in his sixteen years, he’s truly aware of the impact his “night-time” job actually has on people. The split-second decisions he makes, how they determine whether the person he’s saving gets to see their family again or how they get to breathe and experience everything again.

He knows that death is a part of the circle of life, he just wishes it didn’t have to be so...unjust or heart-wrenching. But for now, as he takes his dog out for a walk (that his landlord doesn’t know he has), he glances up at the moon and stars around him, wondering how the hell he missed this. That feeling of peace and pure contentment with his life. Sure, he’s still broke, but he has good people in his corner. As he goes to bed that night, he shoots Tony a text, simply just saying: “miss you. Earth will always remember her greatest defender, and so will I.”

Pepper kept Tony’s phone and saw the message before she went to bed, smiling softly at her late husband’s mentee, knowing that as long as human goodness existed, everything was going to be okay.
