Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding is a specialized welding process that is famous for accuracy, free from spatter, and durability. Unlike other welding processes, the TIG welding process uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to heat the metal, with an inert gas such as argon shielding the weld area from oxidation and contamination. But, similarly to any other welding type, TIG welding also releases toxic fumes that have to be controlled scrupulously. That’s where a TIG welding fume extractor comes in, a vital tool in ensuring the safety of both the welder and the environment.

Welding Procedure Specification: An Overview
A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is a formal document that outlines the detailed methods and processes used to perform a specific welding operation. It ensures consistency, quality, and safety across different welding projects by providing clear guidelines for welders. The WPS plays a crucial role in industries such as construction, shipbuilding, and manufacturing, where welding is integral to the structural integrity of materials.
In this article, we’ll explore the importance of a WPS, its components, and how it ensures the welding process meets industry standards.
Importance of Welding Procedure Specification
A Welding Procedure Specification is critical for several reasons:
Quality Control: The WPS helps maintain high standards in welding projects. By standardizing procedures, it minimizes the risks of defects such as cracks, porosity, and lack of fusion, which can compromise the weld’s integrity.
Safety: Poorly executed welds can lead to structural failures, resulting in accidents, injuries, or fatalities. A well-documented WPS ensures that welding operations are carried out safely, protecting both workers and the public.
Consistency: Whether a project is handled by multiple welders or conducted in different locations, the WPS ensures uniformity in welding techniques. This consistency is vital for maintaining the same quality across various parts of the project.
Compliance with Industry Standards: Most industries have stringent welding codes and standards (such as ASME, AWS, or ISO) that must be followed. A WPS helps companies adhere to these standards, ensuring that all welded joints are strong, reliable, and meet the necessary regulatory requirements.
Components of a Welding Procedure Specification
A typical Welding Procedure Specification contains several key elements that outline how the welding process should be carried out. These components ensure that welders have a clear understanding of the procedure, materials, and techniques to be used.
1. Base Material
The WPS specifies the type of base material (or materials) being welded. Different materials require different welding processes, so the WPS will indicate the appropriate metal grade, thickness, and any pre-welding treatments necessary, such as cleaning or heating the material.
2. Welding Process
The WPS clearly defines the welding process to be used, such as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). Each process has its unique parameters, and selecting the correct one is essential for achieving strong, defect-free welds.
3. Filler Material
The filler material, also known as the electrode or welding wire, is another crucial component of the WPS. The specification will detail the type, diameter, and any specific requirements for the filler material, ensuring it matches the base material and the desired mechanical properties of the final weld.
4. Preheat and Interpass Temperatures
For certain materials, the WPS will include guidelines for preheating the base material before welding and maintaining specific temperatures between welding passes. These temperatures help prevent cracking and ensure proper fusion of the metals.
5. Welding Position
Welding can be performed in various positions, such as flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead. The WPS specifies the required position for the job, as different positions can affect the welder’s technique and the quality of the weld.
6. Travel Speed and Heat Input
The WPS provides detailed instructions on travel speed (the speed at which the welder moves along the joint) and the amount of heat input. Too much or too little heat can lead to welding defects, so these parameters are carefully controlled to ensure proper fusion and penetration.
7. Shielding Gas
For processes like GMAW and GTAW, the WPS will include information on the type of shielding gas used to protect the weld from atmospheric contamination. The gas mixture, flow rate, and application technique are all critical to achieving a high-quality weld.
Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR)
A Welding Procedure Specification is often accompanied by a Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR). The WPQR documents the results of tests conducted to verify that the WPS produces a satisfactory weld. It includes details of destructive and non-destructive tests, such as tensile strength, bend tests, and X-rays of the weld. Together, the WPS and WPQR ensure that the welding procedure is both reliable and repeatable.
Conclusion
A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is an essential tool in maintaining the quality, consistency, and safety of welding operations. By providing clear guidelines on materials, techniques, and parameters, a WPS ensures that welding procedures meet industry standards and produce strong, reliable joints. It is the foundation for achieving excellence in welding, helping companies avoid costly rework, defects, and safety hazards.

Behind the Mask: Understanding Welding Safety Equipment
Welding is a fascinating and essential skill, but it comes with its fair share of hazards. From intense heat and bright light to flying sparks and harmful fumes, welders face various risks on the job. That's where welding safety equipment comes into play. In this post, we'll delve into the importance of safety gear and explore the essential equipment that protects welders from harm.
Welding Helmet: One of the most critical pieces of safety equipment for welders is the welding helmet. This specialized helmet is designed to shield the eyes and face from the intense light and heat produced during welding. Equipped with a shaded lens that automatically darkens when exposed to the arc, welding helmets provide essential eye protection while allowing welders to see their work clearly. Some helmets also feature adjustable settings, such as sensitivity and delay, to customize the level of protection based on the welding process and environment.
Welding Gloves: Another indispensable piece of safety gear for welders is welding gloves. These gloves are specifically designed to protect the hands from burns, sparks, and molten metal. Constructed from heat-resistant materials such as leather or Kevlar, welding gloves provide a barrier between the skin and the hazards of welding. Look for gloves with reinforced palms and fingers for added durability and dexterity, as well as a proper fit for maximum comfort and control.
Welding Jacket: In addition to gloves, welders often wear a welding jacket to protect their upper body from heat, sparks, and spatter. Welding jackets are typically made from flame-resistant materials such as leather or cotton and feature adjustable cuffs and a collar to seal out heat and debris. Some jackets also include additional features like pockets for storing tools and accessories, as well as ventilation panels to help keep welders cool and comfortable on the job.
Welding Apron: For added protection, especially when working in tight spaces or overhead, welders may wear a welding apron. This garment covers the torso and upper legs, providing an extra layer of defense against heat and sparks. Welding aprons are typically made from the same flame-resistant materials as welding jackets and feature adjustable straps for a secure fit. Look for an apron with multiple pockets for storing tools and accessories, as well as a durable construction that can withstand the rigors of the welding environment.
Respiratory Protection: In addition to protecting against heat and sparks, welders must also safeguard their respiratory health from harmful fumes and gases produced during welding. Respiratory protection such as a respirator or welding respirator is essential for filtering out airborne contaminants and preventing respiratory illnesses. Look for respirators with filters specifically designed for welding fumes and gases, as well as a comfortable fit and adjustable straps for maximum effectiveness.
Ear Protection: Welding can be a noisy process, with loud machinery and equipment generating high levels of noise in the workshop. To protect against hearing damage, welders should wear ear protection such as earplugs or earmuffs. Look for earplugs with a high noise reduction rating (NRR) and earmuffs with cushioned ear cups for maximum comfort and protection.
In conclusion, welding safety equipment is essential for protecting welders from the numerous hazards they face on the job. From welding helmets and gloves to respiratory protection and ear protection, each piece of safety gear plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and productive welding environment. By investing in quality safety equipment and following proper safety practices, welders can enjoy their craft with confidence and peace of mind.

You may be aware of the concept of “a rental car.” It’s where you go to a store that lives inside the airport, promise to give them some money, and they hand you the keys to a car. When you’re done with that car, you just give it back and you never have to see it again. No oil changes. No windshield washer fluid repair. No welding new body panels into it after driving on a particularly pointy gravel road.
The thing is, this is an incredibly expensive procedure. Before the world broke, even the cheapest rental agencies were gonna charge you more than just flying in, taking a taxi to the junkiest piece of shit on Craigslist, and then signing a fake name onto the title. Cops give you like a week’s leeway on getting it actually registered – even more if you are there for a “business trip” and are wearing Value Village’s finest two-piece Italian-cut dead salesman’s suit. You get to drive a new kind of car, it doesn’t cost you that much, and when you’re done you can just drive it back to the seller’s house in the middle of the night and take a taxi back to the airport.
So, being forced to rent a car during my recent trip to Philadelphia in order to give the keynote speech at the Bad Cars Monthly conference, I decided I would get the maximum amount of value out of my rental. I neutral-dropped the fucker at every light, started a small side business delivering heavy goods for cheap, and did my best impression of Petter Solberg on every even vaguely curvy road I could find. At one point, I took it to a drag strip and put down a weak fifteen-second pass, the transmission warning light shrieking the entire time as I force-fed it a couple gallons of nitrous oxide that I picked up at a shop near the hotel. Never before had a 2023 Hyundai Sonata been thrashed so thoroughly and without mercy, and I can assure you that the lot boys (and ladies) were impressed when I rolled the filthy, used-up chunk of Korean iron into the lot, parked it across four stalls, and threw the keys into a nearby storm drain after yelling “Catch!”
Friends, I cannot recommend that you purchase a new 2023 Hyundai Sonata. I can, however, assure you that I have depreciated this particular unit enough that it should be really cheap at auction.

HOLA! Thunderstreak getting kidnapped and badly hurt by the bots and the team rescuing them and reacting to the seekerling's new scars?? Will Wheeljack avenge them?? Will Op loose control? Will Arcee and Bee help them with the recovery?? What would happen??
Hola! This is more focused on the bots perspective of what went down.
Hope you enjoy!
Thunderstreaker gets kidnaped by the Cons
SFW, Platonic, Slight Familial, Angst, Mention of injury and scaring, Cybertronian reader
TFP
Decepticon ambush.
The team was on an energon run when the Con’s suddenly came out of nowhere and swarmed them.
Thunderstreaker did their best to provided air support and help getting some of the lighter bots out of tight places.
Thunderstreaker is flying through the air with Wheeljack and Arcee on their back. Both firing blasts at the cons. Thunderstreaker seeing the groundbrigde. Thundstreaker: “Get ready to jump guys! 3! 2! AARRRGGGHHH!!!” Some lucky Con managed to clip their wing sending the three of them to the ground. Wheeljack and Arcee tumbled closer to the groundbrigde. Thunderstreaker was a couple feet farther. Wheeljack: “C’mon kid! The bridge is right there!” Thunderstreaker: “Don’t need to tell me twice!” They all run to the groundbrigde, until Thunderstreaker was knocked off their pedes and forced to the ground. It was webbing. The only Con they knew had webs was… Thunderstreaker’s optics went wide seeing Arachnid hovering over them. Arachnid: “Long time no see Thunderstreaker. You’re coming with me.” Arcee looked back and saw Thunderstreaker in webs getting carried off by Arachnid. Arcee: “Thunderstreaker!” Wheeljack looks back wide optic and tries to fire at the helicopter with Arcee. Thunderstreaker: “Go! Just go! Forget me! More of them are coming! GO!” The two could only take one more glance back at Thunderstreaker’s retreating form as they raced back to the groundbrigde before they got overwhelmed again.
Its clear to everyone who was missing when Wheeljack and Arcee came through.
There’s a chill hearing that it was Arachnid who took them.
There is a lot of tension while Ratchet and Optimus try and find Thunderstreaker’s signal.
Its only an hour into the search when Ratchet suddenly finds Thunderstreaker’s signal… plummeting down at an alarming right.
The console erupts into sharp, panicky static of Thunderstreaker asking for the groundbrigde.
Its nearly impossible to see how fast Thunderstreaker came in because they flew straight out of the portal and crashed into the wall on the far side of the base.
There was an alarming amount of energon on the floor.
Optimus is the first by their side and carefully picks them up, blinking in and out of consciousness as they get carried off to the med bay.
More hours are spent waiting to see Thunderstreaker’s condition.
Sadly because of limited supplies, Ratchet could not smooth out some of the welding marks he had to do on the long claw shaped wounds on their back.
They wake up shortly after the procedure is done.
Thunderstreaker groans as they wake up. They look at a scar on their arm. Wheeljack: “There’s more on your back struts.” Thunderstreaker jumps a bit suddenly noticing Wheeljack leaning on the wall near them. They try smiling through the pain. Thunderstreaker: “Cool, got something to show off.” Wheeljack just looked grim. Thunderstreaker recognized the look. Thunderstreaker: “Hey Jackie, can you pass me that wrench?” Wheeljack looks at them questioning but passes one on Ratchet’s table. Thunderstreaker: “Thanks.” They then proceed to chuck the wrench straight at Wheeljack’s helm. CLANK! Wheeljack: “Ow! What was that for!?” Thunderstreaker strains a bit to give him a proper glare. Thunderstreaker: “You’re blaming yourself. I know that look from anywhere Wheeljack. I don’t doubt that ‘Cee is also feeling like this.” Wheeljack: “Kid, we were responsible—” Thunderstreaker: “If you finish that sentence I WILL get out of this berth and smack you myself.” Wheeljack stays silent. Thunderstreaker: “what happened back there, no one could have expected it. Not you, not Arcee, not even Optimus could have. It was out of our control. So, stop acting like it was because it wasn’t. I’m fine, a bit banged up but fine. If I find out, you or anyone else is blaming themselves I will fly you guys up and drop you on your helms until the message gets through your thick processors. Got that?” Wheeljack stay’s quiet before patting Thunderstreaker’s helm passing a small smile. Wheeljack: “Good to see your back kid.”
It was a bit of a tough recovery period for Thunderstreaker.
Thankfully their team was behind them the whole way.
The Wrecker’s helped them with physical therapy with Ratchet and Magnus’s guidance.
Thunderstreaker shakingly takes a step forward. Bulkhead: “Easy, easy. You’re doing great kid.” They groan a bit trying to take another step. Thunderstreaker looking at a concern Wheeljack. Thunderstreaker: “I got it, I got it…” Their knee gives out and is prepared to taste the floor. Someone catches their arm. They look and see a slightly concern Magnus. Magnus: “That’s enough for now soldier. Take a break.” Thunderstreaker gives him a tired smile as Wheeljack and Bulkhead help them back to the medical berth.
Arcee and Bee watched over Thunderstreaker making sure that they weren’t overdoing it.
Bumblebee watched them mainly if he had a feeling they were going to do something that could harm their wings.
Arcee just watched them like a hawk, already planning Arachnids demise.
Thunderstreaker on Bumblebee’s back. Thunderstreaker: “This isn’t necessary.” Bumblebee: “Beep. (It is).” Thunderstreaker sees Arcee. Thunderstreaker: “Back me up Cee!” Arcee chuckling a bit. Arcee: “You’re on your own Thunders.” Thunderstreaker: “Traitor!”
Ratchet made sure to explain everything that was going on, so it didn’t seem as scary as before.
The kids, June and even Fowler helped too.
Since their new scars were on their back and near some sensitive wiring, their smaller hands were perfect in helping massage some human safe gels over them.
Thunderstreaker on their chassis as the kids rub the gel on their back. Miko: “These scars are wicked!” Thunderstreaker chuckled a bit. Jack: “How did it happen anyways? I don’t think Arcee or anyone told us about it.” Thunderstreaker went silent. Raf: “You don’t have to say it now! When its okay you can tell us.” Thunderstreaker glances over at the humans spreading and squeezing more gel from the bottle and gives a grateful smile. Thunderstreaker: “I’ll tell you guys, I promise. Just… just not now. BUT! On another note, how was that science fair?”
The hardest part was held for Optimus.
It was getting back to the air.
Getting back to flying again.
Thunderstreaker had yet to tell what exactly happened to them and how they escaped.
Seeing any excuse, they could to get out of that discussion.
Optimus is holding Thunderstreaker in the air. His jetpack had recently gotten fixed. Optimus: “Are you ready?” Thunderstreaker in a shaking voice: “Give me a minute Prime.” Optimus notices the shakiness in their voice and frame. Optimus: “It is okay to be afraid Thunderstreaker.” Thunderstreaker lets out a nervous laugh. Thunderstreaker: “Scared? Me? No, I’m just… enjoying the view! That’s all!” Optimus gives Thunderstreaker a look. Optimus: “It is okay to feel scared. We all have felt it.” Thunderstreaker: “… Even you Prime?” Optimus has flashbacks to him holding back the rage and fear he felt when he cradled Thunderstreaker’s limp frame to the medbay. Optimus: “Yes. It is normal to feel fear, but we must be strong and overcome them. We cannot truly live until we conquer some of our fears.” Thunderstreaker vents softly trying to blink back some tears. Thunderstreaker: “… Let me go Prime.” Optimus: “I am right here if you need me.” The Prime let’s go of the young Seeker and watches them fall. For a split second he considers diving down to get them but stops seeing them transform and hovering a bit and moving slow. Thunderstreaker: “I’m doing it! Optimus I’m doing it!” They transform give the Prime a tight hug. Thunderstreaker: “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Optimus chuckles a bit and just holds them.

When you passed out in the chair during your amputation, the doctors didn’t stop their work. They continued sawing through until your left arm fell clean off, and your shoulder was met with cold air.
Once the amputation was complete, the main doctor cleaned and wrapped the wound to prevent any infections.
The doctors’ all scanned your unconscious figure up and down, hungry and lustful. Every doctor practically undressing you with their eyes, burning holes into any piece of exposed skin. Their eyes lingered on your heaving chest, before moving down to the space between your legs.
“You know as well as I do that we don’t have time for that. As much as we all want to. We need to get the arm replaced and put the subject into cryo as soon as possible.” A new voice entered the room, a New York accent this time. It was a muscular American soldier wearing a tight muscle shirt, cargo pants and boots. His hair was dark, almost black and he sported a mohawk with barely any fades on the sides. His mouth wore a disappointed frown as he stared at the subject.
The way he spoke about you was dehumanizing. He didn’t refer to you as a person, only ‘the arm’ and as ‘the subject’. He spoke about you like a piece of meat or a warm hole to use as he pleased.
He beckoned the doctors over to stand by his side with just a flick of the wrist. It was clear that he had more privileges than anyone else in the room. As far as they were concerned, whatever he says goes.
“Of course. Right away, Sir.” The doctor said with a nod.
Two doctors left the room and a few minutes later, returned carrying a heavy metal case. They carried the case over to the table of medical instruments that sat next to your chair. All of the doctors began prepping for the second procedure. Two doctors ensured that all of your restraints were secure, tightening all of them just in case you woke up and became violent. Another two doctors left the room to retrieve a large metal case, before returning to wait at the door for orders. Finally, the last doctor was preparing your shoulder for the new arm. He turned to the tray full of medical equipment and picked up a steel circle plate that was measured and cut to fit your shoulder exactly.
The plate had different ridges and serrated blades on it, meant to make it excruciatingly painful to remove the arm. In being excruciatingly painful, it meant that it might as well have been permanently welded to you.
The blades were on both sides of the plate, so it wouldn’t just help to attach the arm - but if anyone attempted to remove the arm, the blades that were against your shoulder would dig into your already shredded flesh.
He pressed the steel plate flat against the stump of your amputated arm, steel against shattered bone and mangled flesh.
“винты, сейчас.” Screws, now. The doctor ordered with his hand outstretched. An assisting doctor quickly handed him the thick screws.
The doctor then held the first screw against the plate before picking up the drill from the tray of instruments.
He turned it on by pulling the metal trigger and the machine whirred to life. One by one, he drilled ten screws through the plate and into your shoulder. The drill met your bone each time and made a dull, knocking noise as the screws were forced in. More blood seeped from around the plate as the screws kept shredding your already torn muscle.
The assisting doctor huffed, seemingly inconvenienced, and pressed gauze pads to the edge of the metal plate to absorb the blood.
“Субъект готовится к протезированию.” Subject is prepped for prosthetic. The doctor said, waving over the two doctors that were waiting by the door with the metal case.
The two doctors walked the case over, each doctor letting out grunts with how heavy it was. They set it down in front of the doctor that was preparing your shoulder before leaning down to unlock the case.
The case opened with a hiss, vapor pooling from the cold container. Inside the case was a metal prosthetic arm, molded almost perfectly to the size of your actual arm. It was silver with a red star engraved just below the shoulder. It matched the red star that was engraved on the double door exactly. The arm was covered in ridges to promote mobility, flexibility and functionality that perfectly mirrored a human arm.
The doctor sitting next to you reached to pick up the metal arm with great care, immediately feeling the heaviness of the prosthetic. He carried it over to the tray of instruments before setting it down gently. The arm made a metallic clinking noise when it made contact with the rest of the metal tools.
He picked the prosthetic up by the shoulder and the elbow, supporting the heaviest parts of the arm.
He aligned the shoulder of the metal arm up to your amputated shoulder before clicking into the ridges of the plate and locking the arm in place.
The ridges that ran down the metal arm shifted as he tested the mobility of the prosthetic, bending it and then straightening it.
He determined that the prosthetic replacement was successful.
“Субъект готов к помещению в криогенную камеру.” The subject is ready to be placed in the cryogenic chamber.
(….)
Two weeks.
It had been two weeks since your capture.
Fourteen days since you fell for the redheads trick and right into her trap. Fourteen days since you were stabbed and your arm was broken. Fourteen days since you crashed into that freezing water and dragged in the biting Russian snow. Fourteen days since you were yanked from the woman's grip and shackled into that chair.
Thirteen days since you were torn from your drug induced sleep, injected with an off market drug and forced to witness your arm being cut off. Thirteen days since you saw pools of blood gush and spurt from where your shoulder was supposed to be. Thirteen days since you heard the revving of the saw as it spliced through the meat of your muscle and tendons. Thirteen days since you could smell the burning of your flesh and skin being cauterized by the saw. Thirteen days since you saw your own fucking bone being cut through, splintering off and shattering.
Thirteen days since you were torn apart and put back together you’ll never be whole again. Thirteen days since you were put in the cryogenic chamber and frozen in time. During those thirteen days, you were pumped full of various drugs. Many to keep you sedated, pliant, obedient for them to do what they wished. Others to heighten your senses and strength.
Now, it had only been one hour since you were taken out of the cryogenic chamber and transferred to a new room.
This room was small and lonely with no windows. The only light that the room had was shitty panels on the ceiling that kept flickering on and off. The ceiling was dusted in cobwebs and dirt. The walls and floor were all concrete, cold to the touch. The door was locked with a deadbolt.
You were laying on a hard, small cot in the corner of the room with no blankets or pillows. You had been changed out of your tattered, bloody uniform and into a black muscle shirt and black cargo pants. The muscle shirt was long sleeved, but only on your right arm - on you left arm, it was sleeveless, leaving your new prosthetic arm on full display.
You awoke with a gasp as your eyes flew open. The first thing you noticed was that you had no idea or recollection of how you got here. The last thing you remembered was getting on that helicopter with that woman.
Your memories were in fragments, returning in bits and pieces. Trying to comfort that woman only to have her break your arm and stab you. Her killing Nikolai. The helicopter going down. Falling unconscious only to wake up in that hallway. Being chained to that chair.
Before you could even begin to attempt to remember anything further, you noticed something else. Something that made your blood run cold and stopped your thoughts in their tracks.
You noticed that your left arm was.. numb. It wasn’t even just a pins and needles feeling. It felt like nothing. You racked your brain trying to figure out how you injured your arm and why it’s so numb.
You spared a curious glance at the afflicted arm only to be met with the sight of metal where your arm should be.
“No..” You whispered, lips trembling.
Where your warm flesh should be was now replaced with a metal prosthetic robotic arm. All of the scars you had collected over time and the tattoos that previously painted your skin were now replaced with ridges and indentations that ran down the arm.
“No.” You cried out in disbelief and despair. The more you looked at it, the less you could breathe.
The arm felt like a parasite invading your body, eating away at your flesh and polluting your blood stream. Even though it was attached to you, it couldn’t feel more foreign. Alien.
Your lungs burned and your vision blurred as you tried to inhale but it was as if your throat was paralyzed. With every passing second came an onslaught of burning and stabbing pain that ebbed from your arm prosthetic and flowed through the rest of your body.
As each wave of pain washed over your body, a new memory hit you. The doctor injecting you with an off market drug that flayed you alive from the inside out. The doctor bringing out a bone saw and cutting through your skin and muscle. Just remembering the smell of your flesh burning was enough to make you gag in the present. You remembered the saw finally hitting your bone and causing it to splinter and shatter. You remembered passing out from the pain and shock. You remembered all of the nightmares you had while you were unconscious, all of the different loops where you could’ve escaped — only to fail every time.
You only knew that you had started sobbing from the taste of your salty tears as they fell down your cheeks. Your throat went raw as you wailed, curling into a ball on the uncomfortable bed. As you were curled into a fetal position, your head was resting against your knees which is how you realized you were no longer in your uniform.
Your eyes widened and you felt sick.
Someone had undressed you in your unconscious, vulnerable state. Someone had gazed upon your naked, bloody body with their filthy eyes. You could only hope it wasn’t any of those men.
You shivered at the thought of what would have happened if it was them. You were hesitant to pull down your cargo pants in fear of finding any evidence of abuse or trauma. You could only imagine what you might find; the myriad of wounds on your thighs from brute force or dried blood running down your legs. You opted to not look altogether.
In an effort to expel those nauseating thoughts from your mind, you thought about your team instead.
You thought about how they might have reacted when you never returned from the helicopter. Would they have sent out a search team to find you?
You laughed humorlessly. Probably not. No, definitely not.
Not that you blamed them. They had a mission to focus on. They couldn’t afford to just drop everything and look for their run-of-the-mill medic. Especially not when you could be replaced so easily.
They could find a skilled medic at any time, at any place. Sure, you were good at your job, but they could find that anywhere. And they could definitely find one that wasn’t a distraction to two of their top soldiers.
Even if they did send out a search team and even if they did find you by some miracle, what use would you be to them now?
What use could you possibly be to them when you were drugged for two weeks on end? What use were you if you couldn’t even look at the metal arm without losing your lunch?
You were of no use to them anymore, so you might as well be thrown away.
It was better that way, you thought. Resigning yourself to being inevitably replaced, you thought about what your team they might have thought when they found out about you disappearing.
Captain Price would be concerned with your whereabouts, just like he would if it happened to anyone else on his team. He would demand details from Shepherd and Laswell. But then he would inevitably find out about his friends death and any concern for you would be tainted.
Kyle would be hopeful for a time. He would probably push for a rescue team to be sent for you, only to be shut down by Shepherd.
Pondering about how Johnny and Simon would react is what hurt the most, though.
In all honesty, you knew deep down that the two men would recover from your disappearance quickly. They had each other, after all.
Sure, they might be sad for a few days or weeks but it would blow over, you thought.
They would be able to focus their attention and energy on each other instead of you. They wouldn’t be distracted from their work or their relationship by some outsider.
It was clear to you. Their lives would only improve after your disappearance. They would no longer feel obligated to include you in hushed conversations. They would no longer feel obligated to pull you in for hugs or forehead kisses that you knew weren’t meant for you. You would no longer be a burden to them.
Any trace of you would be sponged from the base, just like any other personnel that was assumed killed in action. You’d seen it all before. You just never thought it would happen to you.
The records of all of your treated patients would be sealed away. You would be removed from payroll and staff records. Your quarters would be emptied of all of your belongings and your title plate would be removed from your door. A replacement lead surgeon would be interviewed and hired. Soon, that replacement would be filling your med-bay, your operating room, with new patients. They would be treating your 141.
It would be as if you never existed.
And a voice in your head screamed, it would be better that way.
(….)
Unbeknownst to you, thousands of miles away in the United Kingdom, the men had just discovered that you were missing in action and presumably, killed in action.
They were standing in that conference room with Laswell and Shepherd, watching the devastating security footage. The last they saw on the footage was the camera sinking in the ocean along with the helicopter.
The screen went black and bubbles filled the audio as it sunk to the ocean floor.
Laswell slammed her laptop shut, turning off the projector at the same time.
The silence that filled the room was deafening. The air was thick as the task force tried to swallow the news of your disappearance. It was heavy — sinking to their stomachs, similar to how the helicopter sunk to the ocean floor.
John Price’s fists were white knuckling, his jaw was clenched as he thought about his brightest medic dying.
Kyle's lips were pulled into a frown and he sniffled as he thought about not having someone to share inside jokes with.
Simon was still seeing red. The burning embers of his anger painted his vision, matching the crimson that he saw soaking your uniform. His mouth was pulled into a snarl as rage bubbled beneath his chest. Rage against Shepherd for keeping this from them. The task force could’ve started looking for you that very day. They could’ve found you days ago if they knew. Rage against that woman for playing possum and using your kind spirit to lure you into her trap. Finally, rage against himself for not telling you how he felt sooner. He shouldn’t have been such a coward. He should’ve just toughened up and confessed. No matter if you felt the same or not, at least you would’ve known.
Johnny's lips were trembling and his eyes were filled with unshed tears. His throat felt heavy and tight, like it was wrapped in barbed wire that he couldn’t loosen. The gaping hole in his chest was widening every second that your screams echoed in his head. He tried to take deep breaths but he just couldn’t, it was like he was frozen. Paralyzed in fear and shock. He would never see you again. The last thing he ever heard from you was your bloodcurdling screams.
He couldn’t fucking breathe.
Johnny tightly squeezed Simon's gloved hand, getting his attention. The Lieutenant’s bloodshot eyes flashed to Johnny’s cerulean glossy eyes. What sent Simon into even more of a panic was that Johnny was hyperventilating. It was no doubt a panic attack from losing their missing piece.
Simon squeezed his hand in reassurance.
“Cap, we need to..” The words died on Simon's lips, but it was obvious what he was getting at. Captain Price nodded at his Lieutenant, letting him know that him and Johnny were free to go.
The two soldiers stood from their seats as Price cleared his throat.
“When is the search starting?” He asked quietly, blue eyes trained on a blank spot on the table.
“I want all of our allies in on this. Farah, Alex, Alejandro, Rudy.. All of ‘em.” He continued, not waiting for an answer from either Laswell or Shepherd.
Laswell stayed silent, crossing her arms and sending a pointed look at Shepherd. She was done being Shepherd’s puppet and done keeping his secrets.
Price and Kyle looked at Laswell before their eyes darted to Shepherd.
“You know I can’t let you do that, John,” was the last thing Johnny and Simon heard as they walked out of the conference room.
Once the door shut behind them, Simon pulled Johnny into his arms and into a passionate kiss. He needed to be comforted, shielded in whatever way possible from the pain of losing you.
He moved to cradle Johnny's face in his hands, desperately holding his partner close. He licked at Johnny's lips and his tongue, needing to taste him. Johnny whined into his mouth at the feeling of his tongue being sucked.
As Simon kissed him, he could taste the saltiness of the Scot's tears as they fell down his cheeks. Simon's mouth moved from his lips to his cheeks, kissing his tears away. Johnny hiccupped as his cries died down, wearing a sad smile. Simon pulled him into his chest and wrapped his tattooed arms around him, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
After pulling apart, the two soldiers immediately made their way to your quarters. It was completely unintentional, it was as if their legs moved on autopilot.
Before they knew it, they were standing at your door. Simon's hand shook as he reached for the door knob. To their surprise, it was unlocked.
Simon opened it and as they walked in, they were immediately hit with the comforting smell associated with your room. The air fresheners you had plugged in were still releasing a pleasant vanilla fragrance into the air.
They savored the smell as they surveyed your room. Vanilla and berries lingered in their noses as they kicked off their shoes and took off their heavy gear, tossing it on your floor.
Your bed was still made, the (favorite color) comforter folded neatly on the bed and the four pillows were rested against the headboard.
Your desk still had some medical release forms stacked on it as well as some notepads. Your laptop was closed and plugged into the charger. There were some framed pictures of the task force sitting on your desk as well.
One that caught their eye was a selfie you had sneakily snapped one day. It was of you, Johnny and Simon. They remembered it clear as day. The two of them were sparring in the gym one day and you had snuck up behind them with your phone. Simon was taking a swig from his water bottle so you took that moment to nudge Johnny and reel him into your plan. The two of you rushed up to him on each side and Johnny held your phone up high to get a good view of the three of you. Simon's eyes were wide as he was caught off guard while you and Johnny couldn’t look happier. You two were wearing the biggest shit eating grins and your eyes were so bright.
Simon would give anything to be ambushed like that right now. To have you tackle him and Johnny, laughing about how this was all just a sick joke.
But it wasn’t, and he knew that.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when Johnny took his hand and dragged him over to your bed. The two of them laid down against your soft bedsheet that had gone cold from you being gone for weeks.
The two of them pulled your comforter up over them, before cuddling up together. Johnny's head was buried in Simon's chest, with Simon pressing kisses to the crown of Johnny's head. Simon's arms were wrapped around Johnny's back, and Johnny's arms were snaked around Simon's midsection.
It took an hour for them to find sleep. The pit in the bottom of their stomachs made it impossible for them to relax or shut their brains off. All they could do was hold onto each other for dear life. All they could do was on to the only light that they had, now that you were gone. That only light was each other.

Jehan slammed against the safety restraints with a sharp exhalation, hauling on the controls of his Kodiak in a bid to keep it upright. It staggered slightly, then straightened, and he eased the throttle forward again.
The Sea Fox technicians had done a good job, in the time they had, but they had not had a lot of time, or the appropriate facilities. The armour around the damaged cockpit had been removed, and the connections cut away, and the replacement anchored in place, but the welds were hasty and unfinished, the control runs crude. But they would do the job, at least until he was in a proper Mechbay.
And that wouldn't be long now. Up ahead he could see the hive of activity that was FOB Hawk. Battlemechs were stood in careful formations, powered down and waiting for orders, or patrolled around the outskirts. He could see ground vehicles as well, and personnel going about their business, but he was focused on making it into the cavernous hangar under his own power.
His eyes glanced up to the rear monitor. Behind him he could see Astrid's Executioner, and Isidora's formation, slowly getting the hang of their new organisation. And his own 'Mechs, badly damaged, most of them. Both Stormcrows and the Black Hawk were barely on their feet, suffering from the same issues with the control runs he was, and the Mist Lynx was limping from a bad hip actuator, but they had made it to the FOB under their own power.
Now SLDF Mechtechs were ushering them into the hangar, and guiding them into the repair bays, and he had the prospect of a proper meal ahead of him.
As he went through the shutdown procedure, and stood to leave, he stroked a hand over the stock fabric of the command chair. It was not yet his cockpit - The chair not worn right, none of the familiar scarring on the dash, the supply stash was stocked with standard rations, rather than being filled with his favourites, but all of that could be fixed.
He paused before opening the hatch. Helios was wintery, and because the AO was not secure, he'd made the trip in his combat gear. That would not be suitable attire for the the local environment. Luckily there was a solution, and he pulled open the drawer underneath the command chair, hastily donning the fatigues stored underneath and placing his coolant vest in the space they'd occupied.
He checked his gunbelt was secure, his service pistol and the long dirk he always carried were securely fastened, then hit the hatch release and pulled himself onto the gantry. He would take just long enough to give the Tech's a rundown of what he needed done, then he would find some food.

The Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding also referred to as the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) is one of the most accurate and flexible welding methods widely in use today. TIG welding is much appreciated for its clean, high quality welds and is the standard for many industries. In Canada, where quality and precision are often non-negotiable in construction, automotive, and aerospace sectors, understanding the TIG welding process and its applications is crucial.

QOTU: Something Good
My first official installment in the 'Quarters of the Undead' AU created with @dixons-sunshine is here! We get to watch Vec and Scud's first meeting play out. Be prepared to become obsessed with them because I certainly am. Lydia Vector (Vec) belongs to me, Georgie Hawkins (Ginny, as Vec calls her) belongs to Krys. Banner and divider were also both made by her.
You can get to know Vec a little bit better here and Georgie here
This is my first time writing for Scud as well as my first time writing in third person in a long time, so please go easy on me.
CW for swearing, mention of medical procedures (she is a doctor, after all), a teeny tiny bit of sexual content if you squint really hard
Word count: 3.8k
@gothic-pumpkin you asked to be tagged in this <3
I'm not joking when I say I screamed into my pillow the other night because I love them so much these two make me absolutely feral I need to be put down or sedated or something
“I can’t believe this is happening,” Vec sighed, running a hand through her hair as she rested her elbows on the counter.
First, there was spilling hot coffee all over her fresh scrubs. Then, there was cutting her finger on a can of Monster, followed by dropping her keys in the toilet and burning her toast to a blackened crisp.
And that was all before even setting foot out the door.
While pulling up to a stoplight on her way to the hospital, her 2007 Toyota Corolla came to a halt, the dreaded sound of repeated clicks filling the car as she tried to start it again. A kind stranger stopped to give her a jump start, allowing her to make it to the auto shop just down the street, but not before she took a moment to white-knuckle the steering wheel and scream at the top of her lungs.
When it rains, it pours.
“Just what I thought. Dead battery,” a man behind the counter called out as he approached from the back. His name badge branded ‘manager’ swayed around his neck as he walked, creating a soft tapping sound as it clacked against the buttons of his shirt. “We can do it today, but it’s gonna be a while. We’re a bit backed up.” He reached under the counter into a drawer and pulled out an intake form. “You gonna wait around?”
“No, I’m heading to work,” Vec corrected, flipping her phone open to send a quick text to her best friend.
Vec: Car broke down on the road. Having the worst day :( Ginny: Oh no :( Ginny: Hoping something good comes out of this shitty day <3
That was Georgie, always whipping out her relentless optimism whenever the moment called for it.
“Your name?” the man asked.
“Lydia Vector. V-e-c-t-o-r.” She slipped her phone back into her pocket, grabbing a scrunchie and pulling her long black hair into a ponytail. “I prefer to go by Vec, though.”
“I’ll put both,” he said.
As she flattened and tied up her hair, a movement out of the corner of her peripheral caught her attention, and her eyes trailed over to one of the mechanics. He was tinkering with something, a welding gun in his hand and a bandana tied around his head to keep his soft brown hair from falling in his eyes.
And she was practically drooling after just one look at him.
“Hey,” she asked, nodding her head in the mechanic’s direction, “the cutie with the bandana. What’s his name?”
The man’s gaze followed her nod to his employee in the corner of the room. “That’s Josh,” he explained, the sound emanating from the depth of his chest a hybrid between a scoff and a chuckle, “he’s uh…he’s a bit of a wildcard.”
A small smile crept across Vec’s lips. She, too, had been granted the title of “wildcard,” both by her best friend & her family. She was already looking forward to meeting her match.
“We close at eight,” the manager interjected, clearing his throat before he continued, “if you can get here before then, you’ll have it back today.”
“Oh, that’s perfect. I’m supposed to be off at six. Might be a bit late, but I should be here before you close,” Vec assured, slipping her keys back into the pocket of her scrubs, “that’s the life of an ER doctor for you.” She gave the manager a grateful smile as she scooped a fresh can of Monster from her bag. “Thank you again. Today has been a nightmare.”
“Not a problem, ma’am,” he reassured, returning the grin, “we’ll call you when it’s done. I hope your day gets better.”
“Thank you. Me too.”
Before heading out the door, Vec looked back over her shoulder to steal one last glance at the handsome mechanic. Torn between wanting to give him her number on the spot and not wanting to be disrespectful and corner him at his workplace, she opted for the latter, hoping he would be there when she returned. Plus, she was already running behind. “Cutie with the bandana” Josh would have to wait.
Little did she know, she hadn’t been the only one stealing glances.
He’d taken notice of her the second she walked in the door. A little frazzled, hair disheveled from forgetting to brush it during the chaos of her morning, eyes tinged red from the stress cry she had in her car before coming inside. But he saw right past all of that.
It was almost angelic the way she ran her fingers through her hair, gathering it into a high ponytail. Her hair was so long that even then, it still reached far down her back. Though her eyes were tinted red, the ocean blue of her irises were the most stunning color he’d ever seen. The smile she gave the manager as she left, the way her scrubs hugged her body…the light thumping in his chest was beginning to pick up speed.
“Josh!” another mechanic called out, smacking him in the chest with the back of his hand. Though it stung, even that was barely able to pull him out of the clouds and back down to reality. “C’mon man, help me with this!”
“S-sorry,” Josh stuttered, subtly shaking his head and blinking rapidly a few times to further pull himself from his trance.
Over the course of her shift, Vec had forgotten all about her car and the shitty start she’d had to her day. She didn’t forget, though, about the cutie with the bandana. He’d been nestled in the back of her mind all day, creeping his way to the front at every few-and-far-between free moment she had. All Vec could do is hope he’d be there when she returned.
A nasty bout of gangrene and a couple of motorcycle accidents later, she was back in the staff locker room, eager to be home and in bed after being on her feet all day. Stepping out the bathroom stall, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, and it was only in that moment that it occurred to her what time it was and that it was, in fact, past closing time at the auto shop. She answered the phone with a sigh, repeatedly mentally kicking herself for letting time slip away from her like that.
“I’m so sorry, my shift ran over,” she apologized as she opened her locker, scrambling to grab her jacket and her bag.
“My wife’s an ER nurse, I get it. Don’t worry about it,” the manager said, “one of my guys offered to stay late so you could pick it up.”
Vec set her bag on the bench behind her, holding her phone between her shoulder and her cheek as she slipped her arms into her jacket sleeves. “I can’t ask any of you to do that.”
“You didn’t ask. He offered,” the man corrected. The jingling of keys filled her ear, followed by the ‘click’ of a door lock. “If you’re gonna be later than nine, try to call if you can and let him know.”
“Oh my God, thank you.” Her shoulders relaxed as she breathed a sigh of relief. “I’ll be there as quick as I can.”
The clock on her phone read 8:45pm. The auto shop was only about a mile up the road, she thought, she could easily make it. As she reached the front doors of the hospital, she sent another series of texts to Georgie.
Vec: Picking up my car Vec: If I don’t text you by 9:30, call me until I answer Ginny: Be safe <3
It had only just gotten dark, the streetlights coming on as she stepped out the automatic hospital doors. The road was still busy, as the streets of Atlanta often were, flooded with cars late into the night. Despite all the lights and amount of people outside, she still kept her wits about her as she walked.
She stood at only 5 foot 7, yet despite her average size, she had surprising combat skills, her Navy SEAL brothers having taught her everything they knew. She’d handled men bigger than her before, once breaking one’s nose, and other bones, after she caught him trying to spike her drink at a bar. Still, she found comfort in toying with her small blue canister of pepper spray and clenching her keys between her fingers.
The walk to the auto shop was brief, only around 15 minutes or so, nothing noteworthy aside from a group of college students stumbling their way toward downtown. A car drove past with their windows down, blasting a song that was one of Vec’s favorites from her high school years, and she caught herself softly singing along to the tune long after the car passed by, all the way to the front door of the tiny auto shop.
Removing her cap and scrunchie, she shook her hair out, fluffing it with her fingers and adjusting her glasses on her nose. Cupping a hand around her eyes and peering through the glass of the front door, she saw him propped on a stool behind the counter, flipping through some sort of book she couldn’t quite make out, that soft brown hair tied up out of his eyes.
The cutie with the bandana.
Josh had kept himself occupied by flipping through old comic books his boss kept in his office and crafting little sketches on a notepad as he eagerly awaited for her to return. The sketches were small but chaotic, the random words scribbled alongside them acting as triggers for him to remember important details later.
This cutie with the bandana was an auto mechanic by day and inventor by night.
She knocked softly on the glass, tapping it gently with her knuckle as to not spook him. Peeling his peepers away from his half-completed drawing, he nearly lit up when he saw it was her standing there on the sidewalk, giving him a small wave and a smile. He quickly shoved the notepad into his pocket and hopped off the stool, doing his best to keep his cool as he walked as to not appear too eager.
During those few seconds as he approached and opened the door, he was finally close enough for her to get a good look at his facial features. He had the cutest button nose, high cheekbones, and piercing eyes that were the most breathtaking shade of blue she’d ever seen. Vec had to clench her jaw and repeatedly swallow to keep herself from drooling.
Blue was her favorite color, it always had been. Now, she had yet another reason for it to be.
“Cutie with the bandana at your service,” he greeted with a smirk as he held the door open for her.
Blood rushed to her cheeks as she stepped inside, the chill of the evening Georgia air being cut off as he closed the door and the dread setting in at the realization that someone had told him about her earlier comments. “Oh God,” she groaned, rubbing between her eyebrows as embarrassment flooded her system at an overwhelming rate, “Jesus, I’m…God, I’m so sorry.” She sheepishly trailed behind him to the counter, keeping her gaze on her feet, practically stumbling over her words. “I, uh…I have a tendency to be very…forward. Christ, this is humiliating, I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be. You know what you want, and you go for it. I like that.” Biting the inside of her bottom lip, an anxious habit of hers, she peeled her cerulean eyes from the floor, this time locking them with his. The feeling in the pit of her stomach was more than just butterflies. “My name’s Josh. Friends call me Scud.”
“Like ‘stud’?” Vec asked, and he nodded, “interesting. How’d you get that?”
“Could ask the same about—“ he paused to glance down at the form, as if he didn’t study her name on that paper over and over again before she arrived— “‘Vec.”
“I believe I asked you first.” Her tone was playful, oozing with flirtation, and that sweet pink flush returned to her cheeks yet again. Scud was never particularly drawn to pink, but now, it was quickly becoming his favorite color.
“And I asked you second,” he teased. He pulled a pen from his pocket and removed the cap with his teeth, spitting it onto the counter next to him. “How’s that saying go? ‘Second is the best, first is the worst?’”
Scud was immediately kicking himself for his choice of words. In his attempt to flirt back, he’d just sounded like an asshole.
“Wow,” she scoffed with a smirk, slightly wide-eyed and drawing the sounds of her words for dramatic effect.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” He was nearly stumbling over his words to apologize, desperate to correct himself. “Probably should’ve went with ‘ladies first’.”
“It’s a nickname I got in high school. Too many Lydias in my class. What about yours?”
“Mine too.”
“Too many Lydias in your class as well?” If he wanted to tease, she could too.
“Cute and funny. You’re quite a combo,” Scud complimented as he worked at filling in the blank spaces on her form.
Vec ran a hand over her cheeks, attempting to hide that she was already turning red again. She could dish the flirtation on all day. Taking it, though, was a different story.
“So how come you didn’t just go by Stud?” Her eyes widened and immediately dropped to the counter, practically bugging out of her skull, and her jaw was on the floor. It was as if the words left her mouth on their own accord.
He was clearly reciprocating the flirting, but there was still something that felt wrong about it. He was still working, after all. She’d often fallen victim to being flirted with at her workplace, so she was well acquainted with the discomfort that came with that. Fearing she was crossing boundaries, she apologized once again. “I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s gotten into me.”
He found it endearing, flattering, and downright adorable, the way she couldn’t seem to stop herself from from being flirtatious, and Scud would’ve been lying if he said it didn’t help to boost his ego. A young woman comes in, and not only is she drop-dead gorgeous, but she was flirting with him? He was on cloud nine.
“Told you you don’t have to be sorry.” A sweet, boyish smile crossed his lips as their eyes locked again. He wanted to dive right into those crystal blue pools and never find his way back out. “So you like working as a nurse?”
She cocked an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”
“Your scrubs.” Scud gestured up and down her body with a nod, his gaze lingering on her curves for just a moment too long. Thankfully, not a moment long enough for her to notice.
A soft, amused chuckle trickled out from her half-smile, her eyes falling to the floor for half a second before meeting his again. Scud swallowed hard, his hand trailing to and holding his abdomen. The fluttering in his stomach was an unfamiliar sensation.
Was she making him nervous? He was a confident guy, albeit maybe a bit too confident at times. He wasn’t new to the world of women by any means and could often be a bit forward himself. He too knew what he wanted and would go for it. So what was with the butterflies?
“Oh no, not RN,” Vec replied, reaching into her pocket to pull out her badge, flexing her credentials, “MD.”
“Shit.” Scud’s stomach dropped, fearing his asinine assumption just ruined any chance he had with the beautiful doctor before him. “Fucking this up, aren’t I?”
She folded her arms across her chest and rolled her eyes, that sweet giggle traveling to his ears again. There was a glow radiating off of her. It was almost ethereal. “Now when did I say that?”
“So what kind of doctor are you?” Scud asked as he rotated the paper around to face her, tapping on the ‘signature’ line on the bottom with the tip of his pen.
“Trauma surgeon,” Vec explained as she dug around in her bag for her wallet, “emergency room. Bullet wounds, amputations, skin grafts, all that jazz.” Successfully finding her wallet, she handed over her card, their fingers barely grazing past each other.
Though their touch was small, the electricity that sparked between them could’ve lit the entire city of Atlanta.
“Damn,” Scud replied, swallowing hard once again and using his hand that wasn’t tapping keys on the register to steady himself on the counter. That brief moment when their fingers touched turned his knees to jelly. “You’ve probably seen some stuff, huh?”
“You could say that.” Her knees had also turned to jelly, and the butterflies in her stomach amped up, having made a home in her stomach from the moment she walked in the door. She was just a little better at maintaining her composure.
Taking the pen off the counter and twirling it in her fingers, a phenomenal idea crossed her mind. She nodded to the empty space behind him as she signed off on the form. “You got a sticky note back there, Josh?”
His name sounded so sweet when it dripped off her lips like that.
Hoping this was going in the direction he thought, he pulled his notepad from his pocket, tearing one of the small pages out and sliding it across the counter to her. “Thank you.”
As he ran her card and printed the receipt, she etched out a series of numbers and some words before folding the sheet in half and holding it out to him. “What’s that?”
“My number. For if you’d like to…continue this conversation. And you’re not off the market.” She let her fingers linger on his for just a second before pulling away, taking her sweet time in doing so. The thumping in Scud’s chest was now ringing in his ears.
“Been on the market a while. Surprised someone like yourself is too.” Slipping the note into his jacket pocket, he slid the receipt across the counter to her. “Just need your John Hancock and you’re good to go.”
As she signed off on the paper, blood continued to flow to her cheeks despite her best efforts to prevent it. However, the embarrassment of turning pink only made it worse, and it didn’t help that Scud was taking notice. “You do that a lot, don’t you?”
“Do what a lot?” She hoped feigning ignorance might deter him from inquiring further, but when he motioned to his own cheeks with his finger, she knew it was to no avail. “Oh, yeah. Unfortunately, I do.”
“Well it’s cute, so keep it up.” Naturally, that only made the baby pink of her cheeks darken into a crimson red. Scud couldn’t help but allow his mind to wander and picture her with those flushed cheeks in a more…nefarious situation.
He took her receipt off the counter and chuckled under his breath at her signature as he placed it into the register and locked it. Doctor’s handwriting. “C’mon, car’s out back. I’ll walk you.”
She slowly, cautiously stepped around the side of the counter, ensuring to keep at least a few feet of distance between them. Sure, he was cute, and yes, she absolutely loved that he was reciprocating the flirting, but he was still a stranger. She kept one hand in her pocket, fiddling with her canister of pepper spray, the other free and at her side.
“I’m not gonna bite,” he promised, “don’t even have a bark you gotta worry about.” As she took a couple of small steps closer, he put his hands in the air, interlocking his fingers around the back of his neck. “Can keep them like this if it makes you feel better.”
She nodded, and keeping a hand on her pepper spray, she followed him down a tiny hallway, still making sure to keep a couple of feet between them. She had a good judge of character, it was one of her strongest skills, and her gut only had good things to say about this guy. Even then, especially as a woman, one could never be too cautious.
The bitter evening air greeted them as Scud opened the back door to the building, holding it open for her with his body. He kept his hands locked behind his head, only removing them once they were at her car to reach into his pocket and hand her her key. Their fingers brushed again, and this time, he kept his in place for a few moments, letting the electricity dance between them. She kept her eyes on them, watching him toy with the key resting in her hand, and the same soft, amused giggle from earlier emerged from her chest once more. His baby blues were locked on her, watching strands of her black-as-night hair fall into her eyes and using every fiber of his being to restrain himself from reaching out to brush them away.
“Well, it was lovely to meet you, Josh,” Vec practically cooed, her lashes fluttering softly as her eyes flicked back to meet his, “thank you for staying. And I, uh, hope to hear from you. Sooner rather than later.”
That adorable, boyish smile returned to his face. He pulled his jacket tighter around himself and folded his arms across his chest. “The pleasure was all mine. Now get home safe.”
“You too,” she replied.
Waltzing back toward the shop with a newfound pep in his step, Scud was far too eager to wait until he was back inside before tearing open the note she’d written for him. Her doctor handwriting was more legible here, and she’d clearly taken time to make sure it came out nice and pretty.
Vec 555-555-5555 Thanks for being my something good today :)
She tossed her bag in the passenger seat, removing her glasses for a moment and running her hands over her face. Exhaustion was beginning to set in, the weight of sleep heavy in her under-eyes, and her attempts to hold back her yawns were to no avail. As she buckled herself in and started her car, her phone vibrated in the cupholder. Normally, she wasn’t one to answer calls from unknown numbers, but her gut feeling told her exactly who to expect on the other end. And it was correct.
“You said soon. This soon enough?”
“I’d say so,” she chuckled as she slipped her glasses back onto her nose and adjusted them. She covered her mouth to stifle yet another yawn. “How about I text you in the morning? I gotta be up at 5.”
“I expect no later than 5:15,” he joked. The beaming smile on his face was evident in the tone of his voice.
“You have my word,” she promised. Vec always kept her word. It was worth more than gold to her.
After hanging up, she flipped to her messages to send one last text to Georgie before heading home, her cheeks already beginning to ache as her big, goofy grin somehow continued to grow larger.
Vec: So something good came out of this shitty day :)

Mastering the Arc: A Comprehensive Guide to Welding Facilities and Procedures
Introduction:
Welding is a vital skill in many industries, from construction to automotive manufacturing. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced welder, understanding welding facilities and procedures is crucial for achieving quality welds safely. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the world of welding facilities and procedures, providing you with essential knowledge to master the arc.
Understanding Welding Facilities:
Welding facilities refer to the physical spaces where welding operations take place. These facilities can vary widely depending on the scale of the project and the specific welding techniques used. Common components of welding facilities include:
Work Area: A designated space where welding activities occur. This area should be well-ventilated and free from flammable materials to ensure safety.
Welding Equipment: This includes welding machines, electrodes, protective gear such as helmets and gloves, as well as auxiliary tools like clamps and brushes.
Power Source: Welding machines require a stable power source, typically electricity or compressed gases such as oxygen and acetylene.
Safety Measures: Welding facilities should be equipped with fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits to mitigate potential hazards.
Safety Procedures:
Safety should always be a top priority when welding. Here are some essential safety procedures to follow:
Wear Protective Gear: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing to protect yourself from sparks, UV radiation, and molten metal.
Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the welding area to prevent the buildup of harmful fumes and gases.
Inspect Equipment: Regularly inspect welding equipment for damage or defects, and ensure proper maintenance to prevent accidents.
Follow Operating Instructions: Familiarize yourself with the operating instructions of welding machines and tools, and adhere to safety guidelines provided by manufacturers.
Fire Prevention: Keep flammable materials away from the welding area, and have fire extinguishing equipment readily available in case of emergencies.
Common Welding Procedures:
Several welding techniques are used in various industries, each with its unique procedures. Some common welding procedures include:
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW): Also known as stick welding, SMAW involves the use of a flux-coated electrode to create welds. The electrode melts and forms a protective gas shield around the weld pool, preventing contamination.
Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW): Also referred to as MIG welding, GMAW uses a continuous wire electrode and a shielding gas to create strong welds. This process is versatile and suitable for welding a wide range of materials.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW): GTAW, or TIG welding, utilizes a non-consumable tungsten electrode and a separate filler material to create precise welds. This process is commonly used for thin materials and critical welds.
Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW): FCAW combines elements of both stick and MIG welding, using a tubular wire electrode with flux inside. This process is ideal for outdoor welding and works well on dirty or rusty materials.
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW): SAW involves the formation of welds beneath a layer of granular flux, which protects the molten weld pool from atmospheric contamination. This process is highly efficient for welding thick materials in a single pass.
Conclusion:
Mastering welding facilities and procedures is essential for achieving quality welds efficiently and safely. By understanding the components of welding facilities, adhering to safety procedures, and mastering common welding techniques, you can become a skilled welder capable of tackling a variety of projects with confidence. Remember to always prioritize safety and continuous learning in your welding journey.

CCCC SCP AU MASTER POST
AKA I put Whole in the electric chair and everybody loved it
and renamed him Simon.
DISCLAIMER: This AU handles imaginary medical malpractice and imagery of outdated and misuse of execution and medical equipment and procedures. Real medical practice should not be demonized and feared. Also this does not follow any actual SCP Lore, it is only simply used as a base/jumping off point for my evil science fiction experiments.
SCP-3775
Item #: SCP-3775
Object Class: Euclid
Status: Contained Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3775 does not require any specific or strict containment procedures. If SCP-3775 begins to show any signs of distress or erratic behavior, SCP-3775 is to be moved to a 5m x 5m room while awaiting medical examination.
N/A See Addendum 3775-008, 3775-013, and 3775-019
SCP-3775 is to be contained within three conjoined 5m x 5m rooms. It is to be kept alive whether in state 3775-A or 3775-B. In state 3775-A SCP-3775 is to be monitored at all times to determine mental stability. SCP-3775 is to be kept physically restrained to a specially built wooden chair and electrocuted through electrodes fastened on the head through a screwed metal halo.
In state 3775-B three separate instances of SCP-3775 must be monitored.
Addendum 3775-008: SCP-3775-008 is to be kept alive with minimal monitoring but must be kept in the room furthest from SCP-3775-013. Failure to comply with containment procedures of SCP-3775-008 will result in potential harm to SCP-3775-013.
Addendum 3775-013: SCP-3775-013 is to be kept alive with moderate monitoring. SCP-3775-013 is permitted to interact within the same room as SCP-3775-019 under personnel supervision.
Addendum 3776-019: SCP-3775-019 is to be kept alive with strict and constant monitoring. Personnel assigned to SCP-3775-019 are instructed to wear protective noise cancelling headphones when interacting with SCP-3775-019. Personnel are instructed to not listen to any vocalizations from SCP-3775-019 under any circumstances. Other means of communication are permitted.
Description: In state 3775-A SCP-3775 appears to be an average white human male in his early twenties with curly black hair and brown eyes. Subject has been measured at 178 cm in height. Subject was born 20?? on ??????? ??th. Subject has no known living relatives at this time.
In state 3775-B, three instances of SCP-3775 exist.
SCP-3775-008 appears similar to SCP-3775 with exceptions such as missing eyes, replaced by hollow sockets which allow abnormal purple veins and bone structures to be exposed. Subject’s hair seems to become dyed purple towards the ends. Subject has irremovable purple coloration on its lips as well.
SCP-3775-013 appears similar to SCP-3775 with exceptions such as a total of five eyes that faintly glow a light blue color. Subject also features a luminescent organ similar to that of an esca as seen on the body of an Anglerfish. Subject’s hair seems to become dyed blue towards the ends. Subject has irremovable blue coloration on its lips as well.
SCP-3775-019 appears similar to SCP-3775 with exceptions such as what appears to be scar tissue along the right half of its body with epidermal red dots clustered around joints and around the eyes. Subject’s right eye is abnormal with a grey sclera and white iris and pupil. Subject’s left sclera is white with a red iris and black pupil. Subject’s hair seems to become dyed red towards the ends. Subject has irremovable red coloration on its lips as well.
Subject’s vocalizations sounds similar to that of an autotuned version of SCP-3775’s. It is hypnotic and [REDACTED]. Like one would imagine an [REDACTED] to sound like. It is impossible to resist to do as he commands.
SCP-3775-019 has been modified to have a welded metal muzzle to its face to prevent auditory vocal noise from coming from the subject.
History and Past Proceedings: The Foundation became aware of SCP-3775 due to widespread video circulation of music the subject created. Audience and viewers became enraptured with the music and upon listening were unable to function properly without the music playing in a conscious audio range.
Once obtained and studied, it appears no process in which SCP-3775 creates music is abnormal to that of any other modern musician.
After a prolonged period of time spent at the SCP Facility, SCP-3775 began to become distressed and showed signs of mental health decline, similar to that of severe clinical depression. Once the subject had hit a peak in its mental instability, it began to physically split into three instances of itself. This state shall be referred to as State 3775-B, the prior singular instance of SCP-3775 will be referred to as State 3775-A.

Hello can i get a Connor (Rk800) x engineer male reader scenario, this is after the human vs Detroit war, So imagine the reader is an engineer and some engineer has to stay a life for fixing the Androids but the reader is generaly nice to Android and since connor work usually get him damage so they have met before and have good a friendship. Connor isn't the best at feeling so he always ask the reader for help. One day finally connor confess his feelings by accident because he doesnt know what he is feeling. I hope this is good enough to explain what I am going for because English is not my first language
A/n: your English is totally fine my dude I understood what you meant and I adore the idea😽 hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!!
Overheated
Connor (rk800) x male!engineer!reader
( summary: Connors still getting used to emotions, and after experiencing a strange sensation every time he sees you he decides to ask you about it )
warnings?: Adorably naïve Connor, talks of injuries but very briefly
!-!more under the cut!-!
"Connor, nice to see you again so soon." You smiled at Connor who had just entered your workshop. He returned your affectionate smile with one of his own as he closed the door. You paused what you were working on, removing your protective goggles so you can get a better look at him. "What's it gonna be this time?" You guided him over to an exam table as you talked. "Bullet removal, blue blood transfer, wound welding?" You listed off some previous procedures that you've had to do on him. Connors line of work wasn't the safest job out there and he would constantly decide to take bullets for his team knowing that they can be fixed a bit easier than a human bullet wound. You scold him for this but he says you can't complain since he's paying you to fix him which is true; honestly he comes around so often he could probably singlehandedly keep you in business.
He shook his head and you raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to explain why he's here. "The reason why I'm here isn't for something physical." He stated and you motioned for him to continue. He glanced away for a second and hesitated. "I- think I may have a virus of some sorts..?" He spoke slowly, like he himself wasn't fully convinced. Viruses for androids act as colds for humans, it can overheat their systems and make them, well, sick. “A virus?” You raised an eyebrow and he gave you one small nod. There was a common Virus spreading amongst the androids at this time so it wasn’t shocking news. “Have you come in contact with any androids that may have had any viruses?” He shrugged and you hummed, grabbing a clipboard. “Alright well, describe your symptoms for me so I can see what we’re dealing with.”
He fixes his posture and clears his throat before speaking again, "Well, I'm not entirely sure it's a virus." One of his hands twitched as he thought about how to word his next sentence. "I don't really have many symptoms...maybe I'm confusing it with a new feeling." He let out a chuckle and shrugged, "I'm still getting used to those." You nodded and smiled understandingly before placing your clipboard down. "Well I'm no therapist but describe it and maybe I can help you place it." You crossed your arms and he smiled, looking down. "Well, I can't really explain it. It only ever happens when I'm around you." Your eyebrows shot up, you weren't expecting that. You felt your body temperature increase as Connor continued to describe his new foreign feeling. "My systems seem to overheat and I feel..happier..? But it's a different kind of happy then what I perceive to be my normal level of happiness." You stood there silently as you took in his words- was he...confessing to you accidentally??? "My thirium pump seems to increase in speed as well and I.." he trails off, glancing at you then the floor then back at you. "I get more nervous, and.." He inhaled as you gave him a lopsided grin.
Walking closer to where he sat, you grabbed his hand and watched as he seemed to freeze for a moment. "Do you find me attractive?" He blinked for a moment, the question had obviously caught him off guard. "I...do find you aesthetically pleasing, yes." He furrowed his eyebrows and you bit back a larger smile. "Connor I think you like me." He narrowed his eyes, his eyebrows furrowing even more. You could tell you'd have to explain it further. "Like a crush." You continued, though the analogy didn't click for him like you'd hoped it would and you sighed. "Love, Connor, you're feeling romantic feelings." You watched as his eyes left yours and searched around for nothing in particular; they eventually landed back on yours and you could swear he started blushing.
"Oh."
That was the only thing that left his mouth for a while and you let the silence surround the two of you while he figured things out in his brain. He eventually squeezed your hand and smiled, "It's a nice feeling." You nodded and his eyes softened "Do you feel it around me too?" You had to take a moment to register his question. From the moment you met Connor you had found him very attractive and the way you worried for him whenever he turned up in your workshop injured even if it was minor didn't stem from nowhere. Over the time you knew Connor you'd both become great friends and you loved spending time and talking with him even if it was when you were removing a bullet from his shoulder. You truly did care for him and like him more than you ever noticed, the thought of dating him was out the picture in your mind. Android and human relationships were still so new you never considered liking Connor in that way, but you did. You looked down at your intertwined hands and smiled, "Yeah...I guess I do." You looked back up at Connor who seemed to perk up hearing that.
You both weren't completely sure where your relationship would go from here but you know you'll have each other either way, and you're fine with that.
----!----

i had a fun idea.
and it lead to this
this is an au of dante i made.
The One Who Burns.
I was doing a little thinking and i had an idea from my inner misanthrope
what if there was an anti kromer, who hated all things human, and did everything in their power to bring prosthetics to the top?
introducing DANTE, THE ONE WHO BURNS THE FLESH.
in this au, dante diverts from their original plan with the limbus company, and instead aims to rid the city of its association with human filth
humans are terrible, selfish creatures. the poor are exploited by those in power, humans discriminate each other all the time
wouldnt it be so much better if it was easier to bring the poor to higher power?
prosthetics would get rid of their need for a lot of things. theyd get tired less easily, and wouldnt need to spend money on food. the saved money from it would give way to many other important things. shelter, protection.
humanity is filthy. a simple prosthetic procedure could cut your association with that filth, and you will be reborn anew. as something better than humanity.
dante could free so many people from their prison of humanity. he can bring them all to power by giving them their prosthetics, and removing so many things that would be essential for humans.
DANTE will be their savior. DANTE will burn off their flesh, and weld his beautiful prosthetic creations onto it. DANTE can change their lives.
He is The One Who Burns the Flesh. And he’ll be the one to create a new world of peace without humanity’s selfish grip in every corner.
anyways owb dante is fucking insane i hate them but i love them im insane 💥
