How a Lithium-ion Battery Assembly Line Works?
As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage solutions surges, the efficiency of lithium-ion battery assembly lines plays a crucial role in determining the success of battery manufacturers. A well-optimized assembly line ensures high precision, consistency, and cost-effectiveness. But how does the process work? Let’s dive into the key stages of a lithium-ion battery assembly line.
Cell Grading: The Foundation of Excellence
Cell grading is a crucial first step in the process when each battery cell is carefully examined to ascertain its performance parameters. To produce a thorough "report card" for every cell, capacity, and internal resistance are carefully examined. This methodical procedure guarantees uniformity and groups cells according to their performance attributes, establishing the groundwork for the best possible utilization of a battery pack.
Cell Sorting: Precision in Pairing
After grading, cells are sorted based on their specifications, optimizing the performance of the final battery pack. By ensuring that the batteries in a pack are precisely matched, this precision matching maximizes performance and prolongs battery life. To fully utilize each cell's potential within the battery pack's overall power, this phase must be carefully planned.
OCV Testing Machines
Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) testing machines measure the voltage of cells to ensure they meet the required standards before assembly.
CCD Polarity Tester
This equipment is used for precise alignment and assembly of battery components, enhancing the overall efficiency of the production process.
BMS Testing: The Guardian of Performance
At the heart of the battery pack lies the Battery Management System (BMS), serving as its vigilant guardian. Before integration, the BMS undergoes rigorous testing to validate its functionality and its ability to effectively communicate with the individual cells. This crucial step ensures that the BMS is equipped to monitor and regulate the health and performance of the battery pack with unwavering precision.
Cell Welding: Where Precision Meets Connectivity
As the testing cells await their transformation into a unified force, the delicate process of cell welding takes center stage. Automated robotic arms execute this task with precision, forging strong and reliable electrical connections between the cells. The seamless integration achieved through cell welding forms the foundational framework for the battery pack, ensuring its resilience and efficiency.
Battery Pack Testing or Aging: Trials of Endurance
The culmination of the assembly line journey leads to the final stage – rigorous testing of the complete battery pack. Depending on its intended application, this phase may encompass charging/discharging cycles to simulate real-world usage or accelerated aging tests to evaluate long-term performance and safety. Through these trials of endurance, the battery pack's resilience and reliability are put to the test, ensuring its readiness for the demands of modern life.
Battery Comprehensive Testing
Finally, comprehensive testing machines assess the battery packs' overall functionality, safety, and longevity before they are ready for deployment. The integration of these advanced machines not only streamlines the production process but also ensures that you deliver high-quality, reliable battery packs that power the future of transportation.
Conclusion: Precision, Innovation, and Reliability

Welding Procedure Specification: An Overview
A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is a formal document that outlines the detailed methods and processes used to perform a specific welding operation. It ensures consistency, quality, and safety across different welding projects by providing clear guidelines for welders. The WPS plays a crucial role in industries such as construction, shipbuilding, and manufacturing, where welding is integral to the structural integrity of materials.

In this article, we’ll explore the importance of a WPS, its components, and how it ensures the welding process meets industry standards.
Importance of Welding Procedure Specification
A Welding Procedure Specification is critical for several reasons:
Quality Control: The WPS helps maintain high standards in welding projects. By standardizing procedures, it minimizes the risks of defects such as cracks, porosity, and lack of fusion, which can compromise the weld’s integrity.
Safety: Poorly executed welds can lead to structural failures, resulting in accidents, injuries, or fatalities. A well-documented WPS ensures that welding operations are carried out safely, protecting both workers and the public.
Consistency: Whether a project is handled by multiple welders or conducted in different locations, the WPS ensures uniformity in welding techniques. This consistency is vital for maintaining the same quality across various parts of the project.
Compliance with Industry Standards: Most industries have stringent welding codes and standards (such as ASME, AWS, or ISO) that must be followed. A WPS helps companies adhere to these standards, ensuring that all welded joints are strong, reliable, and meet the necessary regulatory requirements.
Components of a Welding Procedure Specification
A typical Welding Procedure Specification contains several key elements that outline how the welding process should be carried out. These components ensure that welders have a clear understanding of the procedure, materials, and techniques to be used.
1. Base Material
The WPS specifies the type of base material (or materials) being welded. Different materials require different welding processes, so the WPS will indicate the appropriate metal grade, thickness, and any pre-welding treatments necessary, such as cleaning or heating the material.
2. Welding Process
The WPS clearly defines the welding process to be used, such as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). Each process has its unique parameters, and selecting the correct one is essential for achieving strong, defect-free welds.
3. Filler Material
The filler material, also known as the electrode or welding wire, is another crucial component of the WPS. The specification will detail the type, diameter, and any specific requirements for the filler material, ensuring it matches the base material and the desired mechanical properties of the final weld.
4. Preheat and Interpass Temperatures
For certain materials, the WPS will include guidelines for preheating the base material before welding and maintaining specific temperatures between welding passes. These temperatures help prevent cracking and ensure proper fusion of the metals.
5. Welding Position
Welding can be performed in various positions, such as flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead. The WPS specifies the required position for the job, as different positions can affect the welder’s technique and the quality of the weld.
6. Travel Speed and Heat Input
The WPS provides detailed instructions on travel speed (the speed at which the welder moves along the joint) and the amount of heat input. Too much or too little heat can lead to welding defects, so these parameters are carefully controlled to ensure proper fusion and penetration.
7. Shielding Gas
For processes like GMAW and GTAW, the WPS will include information on the type of shielding gas used to protect the weld from atmospheric contamination. The gas mixture, flow rate, and application technique are all critical to achieving a high-quality weld.
Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR)
A Welding Procedure Specification is often accompanied by a Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR). The WPQR documents the results of tests conducted to verify that the WPS produces a satisfactory weld. It includes details of destructive and non-destructive tests, such as tensile strength, bend tests, and X-rays of the weld. Together, the WPS and WPQR ensure that the welding procedure is both reliable and repeatable.
Conclusion
A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is an essential tool in maintaining the quality, consistency, and safety of welding operations. By providing clear guidelines on materials, techniques, and parameters, a WPS ensures that welding procedures meet industry standards and produce strong, reliable joints. It is the foundation for achieving excellence in welding, helping companies avoid costly rework, defects, and safety hazards.

Behind the Mask: Understanding Welding Safety Equipment
Welding is a fascinating and essential skill, but it comes with its fair share of hazards. From intense heat and bright light to flying sparks and harmful fumes, welders face various risks on the job. That's where welding safety equipment comes into play. In this post, we'll delve into the importance of safety gear and explore the essential equipment that protects welders from harm.
Welding Helmet: One of the most critical pieces of safety equipment for welders is the welding helmet. This specialized helmet is designed to shield the eyes and face from the intense light and heat produced during welding. Equipped with a shaded lens that automatically darkens when exposed to the arc, welding helmets provide essential eye protection while allowing welders to see their work clearly. Some helmets also feature adjustable settings, such as sensitivity and delay, to customize the level of protection based on the welding process and environment.
Welding Gloves: Another indispensable piece of safety gear for welders is welding gloves. These gloves are specifically designed to protect the hands from burns, sparks, and molten metal. Constructed from heat-resistant materials such as leather or Kevlar, welding gloves provide a barrier between the skin and the hazards of welding. Look for gloves with reinforced palms and fingers for added durability and dexterity, as well as a proper fit for maximum comfort and control.
Welding Jacket: In addition to gloves, welders often wear a welding jacket to protect their upper body from heat, sparks, and spatter. Welding jackets are typically made from flame-resistant materials such as leather or cotton and feature adjustable cuffs and a collar to seal out heat and debris. Some jackets also include additional features like pockets for storing tools and accessories, as well as ventilation panels to help keep welders cool and comfortable on the job.
Welding Apron: For added protection, especially when working in tight spaces or overhead, welders may wear a welding apron. This garment covers the torso and upper legs, providing an extra layer of defense against heat and sparks. Welding aprons are typically made from the same flame-resistant materials as welding jackets and feature adjustable straps for a secure fit. Look for an apron with multiple pockets for storing tools and accessories, as well as a durable construction that can withstand the rigors of the welding environment.
Respiratory Protection: In addition to protecting against heat and sparks, welders must also safeguard their respiratory health from harmful fumes and gases produced during welding. Respiratory protection such as a respirator or welding respirator is essential for filtering out airborne contaminants and preventing respiratory illnesses. Look for respirators with filters specifically designed for welding fumes and gases, as well as a comfortable fit and adjustable straps for maximum effectiveness.
Ear Protection: Welding can be a noisy process, with loud machinery and equipment generating high levels of noise in the workshop. To protect against hearing damage, welders should wear ear protection such as earplugs or earmuffs. Look for earplugs with a high noise reduction rating (NRR) and earmuffs with cushioned ear cups for maximum comfort and protection.
In conclusion, welding safety equipment is essential for protecting welders from the numerous hazards they face on the job. From welding helmets and gloves to respiratory protection and ear protection, each piece of safety gear plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and productive welding environment. By investing in quality safety equipment and following proper safety practices, welders can enjoy their craft with confidence and peace of mind.

Paid and Played
PAY TO PLAY PART TWO IS OFFICIALLY HERE!
The sound of her sobs of pleasure are etched into my very soul. When I close my eyes, I can see her bound body, writhing, shaking, breaking under unfathomable pleasure. She’s been burned into my soul and now I own her.
My pretty girl was a bit of an impulse buy. A very, very expensive purchase seeing as I wasn’t expecting to jump into a bidding war but something inside of me just needed to have her when she came onto screen during the auction. And I’ve never been someone who tolerated being denied what I need.
It was easy enough to arrange her transportation to me. I would’ve gone to pick her up myself but that would’ve wasted precious time and I couldn’t stand to wait any longer to play with my new toy. She’ll learn to be so grateful to be owned by someone like me, someone with the means to buy her the very best things.
And I’ve already begun to spoil my girl. After finalizing my purchase, my next course of action was to buy the very best accessories for her. The most beautiful collar, welded onto her neck by an expert I paid to ask no questions, the purest titanium piercings for her precious little clit and nipples, all of which is going to let me completely remold her brain into my perfect girl. Everything was seamlessly done with no delays. It’s amazing what money can get when you know how to use it.
And now, she’s finally here, still drugged unconscious from her procedures and her travel but in my grasp. She’s even more beautiful in person, her face relaxed in sleep and body soft and warm, accented by the special bits of jewelry that make her explicitly mine. She’s finally where she belongs, splayed across my bed, looking like a goddess. I have every intention to keeping every single inch of her to myself.
I can barely contain my excitement as I wait for my girl to wake up. I settle onto the bed next to her, running gentle fingers across her skin and watching the goosebumps erupt on her flesh in response to my touch. I can’t stop myself from letting my fingers dance across her pretty tits, flicking across her nipples softly. The tightening of her nipples makes my mouth water and I can’t hold back from letting my fingers pinch and pull gently. The sleek metal bar running through each nipple is beautiful against her skin and I can’t wait for her to be awake and responsive to all her new adornments. Only the best for my pet.
My eyes take in her prone form and I see the matching metal piercing on her pretty little clit. An idea pops into my head and I can’t stop myself from moving to situate myself in between her thighs, my gaze fixed on her pussy. I grip her legs and fold them back against her chest, the position showing off her cunt to my hungry gaze.
“Fuck, look at you, pretty girl. All mine for the taking,” I groan before I lean down and run my tongue gently against her soft pussy. I press a kiss against her new piercing and draw the cold metal into my mouth along with her cute clit. Her breathing hitches as the sensation permeates her drugged mind. I let my tongue trace the metal, the taste of her growing arousal making my mouth water. Fuck, she tastes so fucking good. I lose myself in her cunt, my hands keeping her legs spread and splayed open for me.
I hear her shaky breathing quicken and her legs start to tremble in my hands. She’s close and I intensify my actions, determined to wake my girl up with an onslaught of pleasure so she knows exactly how I’ll be treating her. I hear a soft whine come from her and glance up to see her brow scrunch as she blinks her eyes open in shock.
My grip on her tightens and I watch as fear and panic overtakes her features before I press my lips against her clit and suck hard. Her mouth opens in a cry as pleasure overtakes her senses and her cunt squirts her release onto my tongue, back arching against the bed.
She’s panting softly and letting out little whimpers when I finally let her clit go, the metal of her piercing glistening with wetness and her pussy leaking onto the sheets. I sit up but keep a strong grip on her in case she gets any ideas about bolting.
She’s trembling slightly under my hands and my eyes meet hers. She’s so beautiful like this, splayed out underneath me, pleasure raw in her eyes. I smile, “Hi pretty girl. Welcome home.”
Her eyes widen and I hear her voice for the first time. “Please, please let me go,” she begs, her eyes gazing into mine imploringly. Her voice sends shivers down my spine and I want to close my eyes to bask in it.
I smirk and lean down, caging her into the bed with my arms. “Can’t do that, you’re too expensive of a toy to throw away,” my voice sounds raw and rough, filled with dark promises and desire.
She flinches at my words, her eyes going hazy for a moment, remembering the events of the auction. She shakes herself out of it and meets my eyes again. “What are you going to do to me?” Her voice trembles a little and I can see the fear in her eyes. It makes me immediately want to soothe it.
One of my hands comes up to cup her cheek and I frown when she shies away from my touch. “Don’t be scared, pretty girl. You’re mine now and I’m going to treat you so well, you’ll see,” I promise, stroking her cheek gently.
She whimpers, “Please, I don’t want this. I don’t want to be here.” I coo softly at her, “It’s okay, pretty girl, you’ll learn that this is exactly where you belong, right here by my side. Forever.”
I lean down and press my lips to hers, capturing her mouth in a loving kiss. She fights me at first but settles when my hand wraps around her throat in warning. I dominate her mouth, feeling her pulse jump under my grip.
I groan against her lips, she’s so fucking perfect underneath me like this. I pull away and smirk down at her, taking in her hazy eyes and swollen lips. She looks so good like this. I can’t resist one more quick kiss before I lean back.
“Come on,” I say, standing up from the bed and lightly pulling her towards me. I slide my hands underneath her body and pick her up easily, cradling her in my arms. She’s being so good for me, I’m so proud of her.
“Let’s get you cleaned up, pretty girl,” I say, walking us into my bedroom’s connected bathroom. She looks so scared under the bright lights of the bathroom, her eyes darting around the space. I set her down on her feet in front of the large mirror and keep one arm wrapped around her midsection, pressing her back to my front.
I take a moment to savor the feeling of her small body against mine and it makes me a little feral to see our size difference. I lean down and whisper in her ear, “Look at us, pretty girl. This is where you belong, with me. And look,” I smile, letting my hands trail to her piercings, “I bought you presents.”
Her eyes take stock of the new jewelry on her body and they widen in shock. “What, what did you do to me?” Her voice is strangled with despair. Her hands come up pull at the collar on her neck before going to touch her nipple piercings and she whimpers, her eyes filling with tears.
“Don’t cry, pretty girl,” I coo, “Don’t these look so good? Pretty things for my pretty girl.” I tap her collar lightly and run my hands between her legs and flick the piercing on her clit that she hasn’t yet fully realized yet. The movement makes her let out a choked moan that ends in a sob when the full realization sinks into her head.
Tears are falling from her eyes as she whimpers, “No, no, no, I never wanted this.” Her sobs feel like stabs into my heart, I can’t stand the fact that my girl is sad.
My arms band around her tightly and I press her against my body comfortingly. “It’s okay, love, you’ll like them, I promise. I know what’s best for you, don’t cry,” I murmur softly. Her tears don’t seem to slow and it makes me frown.
I turn her around and let her sob into my chest, soothing her with soft touches and gentle words until she eventually seems to cry herself out of tears.
“You’ll understand eventually,” I murmur, hugging her tight. She quiets down to small whimpers and I press soft kisses to the top of her head.
“Come on pretty girl, let’s get you cleaned up,” I lead her into the shower gently and turn on the hot water, letting steam fill the space around us. She’s listless and limp, her eyes gazing unseeingly around us.
I take my time washing her, my hands gentle as I lather her soft hair with expensive shampoo and then conditioner before moving on to soap her body. She so good for me, letting me move her around the shower to wash off any trace of her tears. I wash myself quickly while she stands underneath the spray of hot water, her gorgeous body slick and warm. I almost want to bend her over and fuck her right here and right now but I stop myself. There’ll be plenty of time for that later.
When we’re both clean, I shut off the water and step out of the shower to grab a big fluffy towel. I lead her gently out, wrapping her in the towel and softly patting her skin dry. She’s so good, she doesn’t fight me at all.
I make sure she’s all wrapped up before turning to grab a towel for myself, drying myself quickly and efficiently. I grab her hand and lead her back into the bedroom, pulling her towards the bed. Seeing our bed seems to startle panic back into her and I see her eyes widen and she shakes her head.
“No, please, please, let me go,” her voice is desperate as she pleads with me, trying to plant her feet to keep me from leading her to the bed. I raise an eyebrow at her, “Darling, don’t be scared, you know I’d never hurt you,” I say soothingly.
My words don’t seem to calm her and she shakes her head harder. “Please, please, let me go,” her voice breaking. I loosen my grip on her hand, intending to scoop her up in my arms when she shoves me, hard.
Her shove surprises me enough for let her slip out of my arms and she takes advantage of my lapse to bolt out the door. I let out an incredulous laugh and shake my head, I guess my girl’s a little feisty. I don’t bother chasing her down, knowing that every single exit to the house is locked and she has no where to run. Plus, I have an extra insurance policy.
Suddenly, I hear a scream and the sound of a body hitting the floor. I smirk, turning to grab my phone from the nightstand before I follow the noise. I find her down the hall, crumpled on the floor, body shaking and trembling. I let out a disappointed sound as I walk towards her, “Pretty girl, you didn’t even make it downstairs. Did something stop you?” I taunt, smirking at her shuddering body.
I walk up to her and squat next to her collapsed body, “Did that hurt?” I purr, my hand coming to wrap around her arm tightly. She whimpers, her breath still unsteady.
“I guess you found out the hard way that your new jewelry has a purpose beyond just looking pretty,” I smirk. “Your pretty piercings and that collar, they’re all programmed to deliver varying degrees of electricity to your sensitive little body. I can make you scream in pleasure or pain whenever I want, with the touch of a button.” I wave my phone mockingly at her before pressing a button on my screen that sends a mild shock through her. It makes her let out a little wail even though it’s nowhere as painful as the shock that took her down initially.
“The extra bit of programming that took you down was something I built in myself. It delivers a debilitating shock to your neck, nipples, and that precious little clit if you get more than 100 feet away from me.” I smile at her, taking in her wild eyes and trembling frame, “But I guess you learned that the hard way.”
I pet her hair softly, “Did that hurt, pretty girl?” She doesn’t respond to me, still shuddering and crying. I scoop her limp body up in my arms and walk us back to the bedroom. This time, I set her onto the bed and settle in with her.
I pull her body against mine and press a soft kiss to her head. “You poor, poor sweet thing,” I murmur, voice dripping with faux sympathy. “You still don’t understand? I own you now. Now and forever…”
She shudders, quiet sobs making her entire body shake. “Why are you so sad, pretty girl? I’ll be so good to you, buy you anything you want, make you feel so good.” I stroke her back softly. “I know you liked what they did at the auction, I can make you feel like that all the time.”
I can’t stop the wicked grin that takes over my face when I fiddle with my phone again, changing a couple settings on the controls. The effect on her is instantaneous, a desperate little cry as her eyes shoot to meet mine.
I laugh and wrap my arms more securely around her body, “Feels good huh? See? If you’re a good girl, you can feel like this all the time, all those sensations directly on your sensitive little clit and nipples.”
“No, please stop, please!” Her voice is shaking as she pushes at me weakly. I run my hands up and down her body, raking my nails across her soft, smooth skin gently. I’ve set the programming to a variety of different pulses, each maintained at an intensity that forces the pleasure to the forefront of her very being.
I can only imagine how overwhelming it all feels, the earlier shock she got from running probably pushed her sensitivity levels to the max, every single sensation now dancing across her already frayed nerves.
I can tell exactly when every shock is delivered to her body by the way she shudders. I tangle my hand in her soft hair and pull harshly, forcing her eyes to meet my own. She has tears streaming down her face as she lets out desperate little sobs.
“Please, please, please stop!” Her voice desperate. I shake my head, “Oh no, pretty girl. I know you like this, I know your pretty pussy is dripping wet for me right now.”
I slide my hand down to her core and groan low in my throat when I feel how fucking hot and drenched her cunt is. Two fingers slide in effortlessly and I can feel the pulsing of her cunt in time with the electricity. I curl upwards to press against her g-spot and I feel her shatter in my arms.
The sob that rips out of her throat is devastatingly delicious. I watch her eyes roll and her entire world narrows to the pleasure shooting through her body. I take that moment to increase the voltage, driving her higher in her orgasm and forcing her into a world of painful pleasure.
There’s no way for her to fight the sensations. The electricity is delivered directly to her clit and nipples, and no amount of struggling, writhing, or touching can make it stop. I don’t need a single restraint on her body to make her submit and there is nothing she can do to fight back. Her body, while physically unbound, is entirely shackled to my will and she has nothing to use against me other than the pleas that spill from her lips like a mantra.
She’s noticed that even after her forced orgasm, the stimulation isn’t stopping. She’s gripping my arm so tightly as her body shudders again and again, so overstimulated that she can barely string together words to beg me. She’s so beautiful like this, uninhibited, desperate, sobbing by my own design.
I lean down and lay gentle kisses along her neck, letting my tongue taste her skin. I groan softly and pull her tighter against my chest, her body shuddering against mine.
“That’s it, pretty girl, just take it for me. You’re doing so well, just like that, feeling so good for me. Keep cumming for me, sweet thing, this is for your own good. Pretty girls like you need to learn that they have to listen to their owners.”
I talk her through her every orgasm, bumping up the stimulation every once in a while to keep her mind locked in a haze of pleasured pain. She’s stopped struggling against me after her fourth orgasm, her body going limp as the sensations overwhelmed her. After her sixth, she went nonverbal, begging replaced by quiet whines and whimpers. At her tenth, she passes out and I finally turn the stimulation off.
I’m gentle as I move her body around on the bed so she’s laying comfortably. Tear tracks are evident on her pretty face and her pussy and inner thighs are a dripping mess. I slip off the bed and come back with a warm towel to clean her up before pulling her into my arms.
I press a soft kiss to her forehead before tucking her close and closing my eyes. Maybe when she wakes up, she’ll have a better attitude about her reality.

robot girl so terrified of maintenance that she needs to be physically restrained before any technician can get close enough to do any work. Until they realize that if you convince her that all the techs are going to do is use her, she doesn't mind it at all. Sure, they need to keep he pleasure circuits overwhelmed throughout all the procedures, so she doesn't realize that there's welding going on in her torso and both her arms are disassembled on the table beside her, but that's nothing you can't achieve with a car battery wired straight into her motherboard. The techs seem to like her a lot more too, some of them even start requesting to work on her specifically. Immediately the cute little thing goes from never getting any maintenance at all to voluntarily going in for "sessions" every week. She barely even notices how much better she's running, though some of her ports seem to have some "foreign material" keeping them from working at full efficiency

Arcturus Three
Part Four - The Unknown
Part Three
———
NASA astronaut training is highly specific, they are meant to complete two years of intensive training before any specialized mission training is going to start.
All NASA astronauts and international astronauts go to Johnson Space Center in Texas to go through the intensive training to prepare for any extent of space travel. The selection process starts after the initial stage, their “boot camp”. Where the trainees are educated in shuttle and space station systems, along with a variety of other disciplines.
Everything from simulators, aircraft training, medical training, and the neutral buoyancy lab are held at Johnson Space Center. Other training includes wilderness survival trading, robotics training and procedure preparation. They are prepared for any potential outcome and or emergency that could or would happen while the astronaut is in space.
The designed training programs are to prepare the astronauts for the strange circumstance that is microgravity, to prepare all future astronauts for the vastness of space.
It is an ever-expanding program as more is discovered not only about space but space travel.
For MECHA’s collaboration, pilot training has a great deal in common with astronaut training. In the collaboration agreement, there was an understanding in which the two year training process was waived as pilots were still needed between then and their mission.
Arcturus holds a special place in the collaborations, as all the mech suit pilots are only considered astronauts upon reaching space, rather than while in training. Not labeled as astronauts in training as those going to the ISS or other NASA sanctioned missions.

It had been a long night, even after Rusty suggested that they all get some sleep, to call it good enough, he’d couldn’t help but put in more time, more effort. Even as Deadlock had breathed down his neck, probably trying to get him to stop but it just wasn’t what he’d be able to do.
This had to be perfect or they would all disappear in a more painful way than they were already expecting.
He’d spent the rest of the night welding and adjusting each piece, over and over, trying to ensure that the tool box would both work and hide Deadlock, if either didn’t work they were screwed.
When the sun shone through the space, he managed to doze against the workbench for a while. Only waking up when the space was blinding, with a blanket draped over his back and the first crews coming to load up their gear into trucks. His heart stuck in his throat from that moment till they were in the helicopter, till they landed.
Space suits were uncomfortable at best, miserable at worst, especially in the heat. He shifted about in the boots a bit, taking slow and deep breaths, “Fuck me,” Jesse chuckled lightly next to him, still stretching out a bit. They all looked tired, but at least some of them were able to wear smiles.
Looking around slowly, they were hiding just out of view of the stage, next to the building they were about to spend the next three months in. Brushing back his hair a bit, Percy rocks back on his heels before forward on his toes.
Breathing, he adjusts the sleeves on his suit as Cecilia looks around, “Alright, we smile, we wave, we go in and relax. Take the day, watch the news, then move on. Start rehearsing for the mission. Sounds good?” He nodded, Jesse clapped her shoulder and Ratchet grunted.
They were one motley crew of pilots, well, three pilots and a medic. Technically, one hybrid-pilot, a striker, a scientist turned pilot, and medic scientist. Yeah, that was more accurate.
Climbing the stairs, he sighed shakily and moved towards his marker on stage. Different pieces of colorful tape, each chosen as if made to match their suits. Even Ratchet’s assistance medical suit. He stopped and turned on his marker, trying to smile.
The flash of the cameras were blinding, the sheer noise level was grating and he was running on only thirty minutes of sleep in the last two days. Of course, there would be plenty of time for sleep on the inside but right now he was exhausted, bone tired. It was hitting him now, standing in front of all these people. Coffee had only withstanded him so long, now standing here in the hot Texas sun while wearing a space suit was not his idea of fun.
Then again, his idea of fun freaked out most people.
Standing on the small stage in front of the isolation door, he was trying to not pick at the scarring on his hands that had become a nervous habit. It had been a nervous habit since he was young, the picking, but now it was at the scars he was creating for the sake of research.
Each scar was slightly different, all from different times and different attempts to make it perfect. The scars went from nearly the ends of his fingers, up his arms, across his shoulders, slightly down his back, then up into his implants. They all represented a different breakthrough in compatibility sciences, even as he pulled at the healing skin.
More cameras flashed painfully as Percy shifted from foot to foot, face remaining neutral while Swindle rambled on about their mission and purpose. Truthfully, all he could think about was Deadlock and the box he’d designed for him. The crude thing to transform into and wait in, just to ensure keeping him out of Shockwave’s reach.
If he fell into Shockwave’s hands, he wasn’t sure what would happen to him or the lives of new pilots, neither would be good.
Sending Deadlock up into space, by himself for three months to ensure that he was safe, that was the priority. This alien thing that reminded him of their suits, how he loved, how they moved, it was eerily similar, but Deadlock hadn’t been on-planet that long. Certainly not since the beginning of the next gen suit.
He was the priority, because he was Rusty’s probity and whatever the doctor thought was right, usually was.
Ratchet’s hand grabbed his wrist then pulled his hand back, as his skin was welling up red from the scratching and picking, “Breathe Percy, this is just a press conference. We’ll be inside soon.” Nodding slowly, he tried to take slow and deep breaths. Shifting his glasses some, he focused on Swindle for the moment.
”That is why these missions are so important, though we mourn the loss of Arcturus Two, we know that the answer can’t be found here. It will be found up there, where we can level the playing field with these monsters. If we can get answers, then the war will be ours to win.”
Swindle knew how to talk to a crowd, to convince them that they knew what they were doing, that any of this made sense. None of it did, but desperation was the word everyone was trying to avoid across the planet. Desperation was biting at their heels, same as the kaiju were, same as Shockwave was.
The scientist that had his hands in everything, he wouldn’t say control because if that were true then everyone would start to see it. No, he would merely suggest and things would change.
He was standing at the back of the crowd, dressed in his old senator persona, he’d been so young when he’d been a politician. Answered the call to his country to become a pilot, then a scientist, now a madman but one in disguise. One he had been foolish enough to follow all those years ago, that and the money. Desperation was the word that had already fallen from his lips, years ago.
The grip on his wrist tightened again and he nodded slightly, taking several more breaths. Glancing towards the others briefly, their different states of composure.
”Ladies and gentlemen, the pilots of Arcturus Three!” Swindle threw his arm back towards them, and they all waved. Though Ratchet kept hold on his one arm, so they waved with opposite hands. His breath was shaky as his eyes landed on Shockwave again, who smiled softly and waved back.
He looked like he was waving goodbye, then again, they all knew what this mission really was.
—
This was why he’d tried to leave the program, to stop working with the military and MECHA, because he knew in the long run it was wrong and it would get him killed. Both had never been more true.
His feet ached, this suit was one of the most uncomfortable things he’d ever had to wear and the boots were not helping. Neither was the stage if he was being honest.
That stage had been quickly built, even with all the lead up to this day, with three months till take off they’d been planning these events for almost two years. Yet it was still built at the last minute, like everything around them. Quick and easy, up then down.
The only things that weren’t new were the NASA buildings, they’d been here for ages, not painted camouflage to try and prevent attacks, it didn’t always work but it was the best that they currently had. Everyone knew the kaiju couldn't see terribly well, but it wasn’t full proof. This whole setup reminded him of the war fronts he’d seen in old films and news footage.
Old wars when they were only fighting each other, not the unknown. When the only thing you really had to fear was humans and their engineering.
Of course, he’d never fought in either, too young for one and not compatible enough for the other. Not that he resented it, he couldn’t imagine being a pilot, not now not ever. Shifting a bit and trying his hardest not to tug at the collar of his spacesuit, Rusty scowled at the flashing cameras.
They shouldn’t be out here in the open but when did Swindle ever listen to him. At least the man tried to have his back, but now he was going to space, as if that would keep him safe. Out of reach maybe, but no, it was one of the swiftest ways to die instead.
Trying not to groan or complain too much, they all stood there on the stage like the money bags they were in this moment. The scapegoat, the security that MECHA needed in the ever evolving world and this god forsaken war. Shifting, he kept hold of Percy’s arm, the poor guy was panicking.
Logically panicking, but it was clear to him. It was probably over Deadlock, who he desperately hoped was just waiting on the tarmac, waiting to be loaded into their storage carrier for the Iliad.
Sighing slowly, he nodded as they all did and turned, watching one of the workers from NASA open the overly large and heavy door to their isolation chamber. There wouldn’t be cameras inside that filmed for the public, just one or two for those in ‘Mission Control’, really just those sitting watching them and making sure none of them would have a mental breakdown.
Not like poor Cliffjumper, the jackass, a dead jackass but regardless the man didn’t have many friends among this group.
Climbing through, he nearly stumbled on the lip and Cecilia catches him briefly, “You alright Ratch?” Nodding, he tries to crack a smile, “Never better Captain.” Her smile was also small but full of care as they moved to help Jesse and Percy through. Briefly standing together to wave to the cameras outside before the door closes in their faces.
Like a sealed tomb.
But it felt like he was able to breathe better once the door was closed, moving to sit and remove the worst of the space suit, Pulling off the pinching boots with a sigh, “One more show then we’ll be free of here.” He rubbed his neck after pulling the ring back over his head, slipping out of the top section of his space suit with a sigh.
“If it were only one more show, we’d already be on the shuttle.” Perceptor sat down and took off his glasses, rubbing his face tiredly, “This all would be over and we’d be with the others.” He hummed and nodded some, sighing and closing his eyes.
Jesse glances around and claps his hands lightly, “So, who's hungry?” They all glanced up and stared at him for a long moment, though his smile didn’t waver. Shrugging weakly, Ratchet pushes up and starts over, “I’ll at least make some coffee.” Slowly, the others followed.
—
It was hours before the television flicked on inside, they’d all managed to get some rest and were starting to settle in, the four of them when it flicked on to nearly full volume. He’d been quick to turn it back down at least before collapsing back on the couch where he’d been napping only moments before.
Groaning and brushing his hands through his hair, Jesse sits forward and watches, “Hey everyone, they're prepping the carrier ship!” Kicking his feet up onto the coffee table, he grins a bit and crosses his fingers.
Cecilia was over first, landing on the couch next to him and sitting cross legged, leaning back, “Please, please don’t blow up on the pad.” Turning to her, he gaped, “That’s horrible.” Shrugging, Arcee sighed, “I’d rather hope and pray for it to not happen then just wait for it to.” Shaking his head, Jesse looks back as Rusty and Percy moves over.
Slowly, they all sat and started to watch.
They were together, sitting together, watching the screen intently from their bubble. Their bubble of an isolation chamber, it wasn’t much but it could have been a lot worse. For the idea to be this was meant to help them be stuck together on a spaceship, it could have been a lot worse.
It was nearly painfully dull in the chamber, since he wasn’t piloting the ship or manning any major station, but it could be worse.
Jesse was trying his hardest to not lose his mind. Watching the broadcast was helping a little bit, even if it was rather dull.
Typical countdown for a space launch, it wasn’t happening far from where they were at this very moment, but the fact they had to watch it over a screen rather than be there was very strange.
Ratchet’s hand squeezed at Perceptor’s shoulder, Arcee leaned her head against his arm and they sat quiet.
”Do you think we’ll see them loading it on?” He wanted to ask about Deadlock, but knew for the poor guy's safety, he couldn’t; “No, they’ll have loaded everything as soon as it got here.” Percy’s voice didn’t waver, but was flat. The guy was beyond tired, but they still had to watch, to know he made it there safely.
Nodding a bit, he sighed slowly and fidgeted with his hands awkwardly, watching anxiously. God, this was unbearable, his leg bounced. Rusty glanced over and reached out a hand, which he took and held, “We’re going to die, aren’t we?” This was something he didn’t care if those behind the testing saw, “Yeah, probably.” Rusty’s voice was strained and he squeezed his hand.
Damn those who decided they needed them all out of the way. Everyone from Jazz to the twins to Cliff and now them. Too much of a pain to keep around and all of them are heroic enough to volunteer like the stupid shields they tried to be. For all he knew they’d have strapped the old man's ass to a rocket if they hadn’t locked him out from the suits.
Glancing at Cecilia, he could see it on her face, the same train of thought. Or at least almost the same train of thought.
Closing his eyes, he sighed slowly, the burning in his chest cooling as if he were about to fall asleep. The anxiety was tearing him up inside, remembering his own past with Shockwave. Everything from the initial promises, the lies, the torture. He had to know Deadlock was going to be kept away from all that.
Opening his eyes, he looked at Ratchet and Percy, knowing that they’d done all that they could to keep his friend safe. If it wasn’t for Ratchet, he’d have never met one of his best friends and now they were watching him be launched to space. To protect him. So he can watch them die effectively, but at least he’d be away from the monster.
—
She held her breath during the countdown, from a minute, to thirty seconds, to the last ten seconds countdown. She couldn’t help but hold her breath, if this didn’t work their mission would be postponed and her crew's friend would be dead.
The alien, Deadlock, was still a pretty big unknown to her. Only a little while had passed since they met, but she knew what the scientists of this planet were looking for. Better than most. the next big breakthrough for mech technology, a way to end this war.
To not entirely lose.
Because everyone knew as of right now, they were actually losing and no matter how many suits or pilots they threw at the enemy, it wasn’t saving any more lives than it had in years past.
They were starting to lose more civilians than before and it was dragging them all down. She hadn’t even really known Jazz, knew of him, was friends of friends as it has been but when she’d been changed from rescue to striker there was so much more she wanted to do.
Her time of being an asset was short lived and she knew that would be the case, hybrid-class usually are short lived. Both in their usefulness and their survival rates. It had been obvious when she was pulled from her region, then moved up on the mission rosters.
Asset to liability.
She could only breathe again when the ship was in the upper atmosphere, when Hot Rod was cheering next to her and Ratchet’s breathing evened out. Leaning back, she stared up at the ceiling for a long time. Even as the broadcast ended, as Jesse went off to do god knows what.
As Percy stumbled off to get some sleep and Rusty wandered into the kitchen, she stayed, staring at the ceiling.
Three months of isolation for them, to prepare to go to space. How in the hell do you prepare your mind to go to space? She really didn’t have an answer.
Slowly rising, Cecilia moved out of their general living space and towards the pods. Where they’d sleep and she crawled onto her cot. It was probably only the middle of the day, but she couldn’t run a simulator right now or go through any of the binders. Not today, not right now.
Crawling under the blankets, she was out like a light.
—
Three months had never felt so fast, everything from that first day till now felt beyond fast and their connections had grown deeper. Though she was pretty sure Percy was going to kill Jesse, or Rusty would kill them all. She wasn’t entirely sure anymore but there was no way they were all going to survive this mission.
The space had grown disgusting in that time, of course, but less in a dirty way and more of a familiar way.
Anytime there was breaking news they sat together to watch it, any time a new attack took the lives of pilots they knew things would get broken, they had formed the familiar paths through the space and got used to having to be together in confining moments.
She’d spent a quarter of her time in the simulator for the actual shuttle, then another chunk with studying the binders but whenever there was a free moment, she was with the others. They were far more compatible with each other than she’d honestly thought they would be, but here they were, shooting the bull while packing up the few things they brought inside.
Sitting on the coffee table, she was grinning at Jesse as he sat upside down on the couch. Rusty leaned against the wall, while Percy was trying to read through one of the binders, again before they’d walk out. get debriefed, then briefed, before loading onto the shuttle. Onto the Iliad, she still thought the naming system they were going with for the big crews was stupid.
Odyssey, Iliad, and Aeneid. They one hundred percent thought of that at the last minute.
Shifting forward, she pulls her space suit back up and slips her head through the ring for the helmet, “Alright everyone, we’ve got about two minutes before that door opens again and we see other human beings for the last time. Focus up.” Each of the guys nodded and started to shift their own space suits back into place.
Though Percy was still trying to read the binder, balancing it on his knee.
Yeah, space suits were pretty uncomfortable and impracticable in their assembly.
Sighing slowly, she turns to the door and picks up her back, standing finally, “Everyone ready?” “Is no a appropriate answer?” Jesse’s voice was filled with his shit eating grin, “We can still leave you on Earth.” Shifting the bag up her shoulder, she winces as the door opens and light starts to stream through.
The lights in their isolation chamber cut suddenly as the door opens to blinding sunlight.
Except, they were expecting flashing cameras and dozens of reporters, instead, it was just a few workers from NASA, “Arcturus Three, welcome back. So, debrief is going to occur once you’re strapped into the shuttle.” Stepping out into the daylight, Cecilia winces, “Uh, why?” The staffers shared a look before they started walking, “Dr. Shockwave and the other scientists are currently out of the country, it was deemed that your activity inside was stable enough to institute an instant transfer to the shuttle. Plus, there is a storm system moving in which we intend for you all to miss.”
Glancing back at the others, clearly, none of them were buying it either. This, was not good.

A/N
So, yeah, I just basically didn’t write at all this weekend because of sports. ._. It’s fine.
One more part of Arcturus Three! I’m super excited for it, hopefully it will come together easier than this one did, this one feels… rough. But I hope you enjoy it.

She than restrain them and puts gloves on their hands and feet so they can’t hurt her as she works. Once they’re set, she can examine them . once she has her gloves on she appraises her patience gripping them examining there genitals an does exploratory anal and vaginal exams . As she loves to feel around sometimes her fingers utter times her fist depending on how loose their ass or vagina are . If her patient proved to be less than cooperative, she will sedate them lightly as so far do not fight her and be more docile yet still feeling her . Angela specializes in sexual massages and milking. For her female patients, she robs and pleasures them enough just so before robbing them of the orgasm and ruining it . She does similar with her male patient jerking them off and adding them to the point of orgasm, but denying them or ruining it, but if she’s milking, she’ll allow it, but containing the discharge in a condom that she will promptly throw away or if requested by the mistress have the patient eat it . HOLA! Thunderstreak getting kidnapped and badly hurt by the bots and the team rescuing them and reacting to the seekerling's new scars?? Will Wheeljack avenge them?? Will Op loose control? Will Arcee and Bee help them with the recovery?? What would happen??
Hola! This is more focused on the bots perspective of what went down.
Hope you enjoy!
Thunderstreaker gets kidnaped by the Cons
SFW, Platonic, Slight Familial, Angst, Mention of injury and scaring, Cybertronian reader
TFP
Decepticon ambush.
The team was on an energon run when the Con’s suddenly came out of nowhere and swarmed them.
Thunderstreaker did their best to provided air support and help getting some of the lighter bots out of tight places.
Thunderstreaker is flying through the air with Wheeljack and Arcee on their back. Both firing blasts at the cons. Thunderstreaker seeing the groundbrigde. Thundstreaker: “Get ready to jump guys! 3! 2! AARRRGGGHHH!!!” Some lucky Con managed to clip their wing sending the three of them to the ground. Wheeljack and Arcee tumbled closer to the groundbrigde. Thunderstreaker was a couple feet farther. Wheeljack: “C’mon kid! The bridge is right there!” Thunderstreaker: “Don’t need to tell me twice!” They all run to the groundbrigde, until Thunderstreaker was knocked off their pedes and forced to the ground. It was webbing. The only Con they knew had webs was… Thunderstreaker’s optics went wide seeing Arachnid hovering over them. Arachnid: “Long time no see Thunderstreaker. You’re coming with me.” Arcee looked back and saw Thunderstreaker in webs getting carried off by Arachnid. Arcee: “Thunderstreaker!” Wheeljack looks back wide optic and tries to fire at the helicopter with Arcee. Thunderstreaker: “Go! Just go! Forget me! More of them are coming! GO!” The two could only take one more glance back at Thunderstreaker’s retreating form as they raced back to the groundbrigde before they got overwhelmed again.
Its clear to everyone who was missing when Wheeljack and Arcee came through.
There’s a chill hearing that it was Arachnid who took them.
There is a lot of tension while Ratchet and Optimus try and find Thunderstreaker’s signal.
Its only an hour into the search when Ratchet suddenly finds Thunderstreaker’s signal… plummeting down at an alarming right.
The console erupts into sharp, panicky static of Thunderstreaker asking for the groundbrigde.
Its nearly impossible to see how fast Thunderstreaker came in because they flew straight out of the portal and crashed into the wall on the far side of the base.
There was an alarming amount of energon on the floor.
Optimus is the first by their side and carefully picks them up, blinking in and out of consciousness as they get carried off to the med bay.
More hours are spent waiting to see Thunderstreaker’s condition.
Sadly because of limited supplies, Ratchet could not smooth out some of the welding marks he had to do on the long claw shaped wounds on their back.
They wake up shortly after the procedure is done.
Thunderstreaker groans as they wake up. They look at a scar on their arm. Wheeljack: “There’s more on your back struts.” Thunderstreaker jumps a bit suddenly noticing Wheeljack leaning on the wall near them. They try smiling through the pain. Thunderstreaker: “Cool, got something to show off.” Wheeljack just looked grim. Thunderstreaker recognized the look. Thunderstreaker: “Hey Jackie, can you pass me that wrench?” Wheeljack looks at them questioning but passes one on Ratchet’s table. Thunderstreaker: “Thanks.” They then proceed to chuck the wrench straight at Wheeljack’s helm. CLANK! Wheeljack: “Ow! What was that for!?” Thunderstreaker strains a bit to give him a proper glare. Thunderstreaker: “You’re blaming yourself. I know that look from anywhere Wheeljack. I don’t doubt that ‘Cee is also feeling like this.” Wheeljack: “Kid, we were responsible—” Thunderstreaker: “If you finish that sentence I WILL get out of this berth and smack you myself.” Wheeljack stays silent. Thunderstreaker: “what happened back there, no one could have expected it. Not you, not Arcee, not even Optimus could have. It was out of our control. So, stop acting like it was because it wasn’t. I’m fine, a bit banged up but fine. If I find out, you or anyone else is blaming themselves I will fly you guys up and drop you on your helms until the message gets through your thick processors. Got that?” Wheeljack stay’s quiet before patting Thunderstreaker’s helm passing a small smile. Wheeljack: “Good to see your back kid.”
It was a bit of a tough recovery period for Thunderstreaker.
Thankfully their team was behind them the whole way.
The Wrecker’s helped them with physical therapy with Ratchet and Magnus’s guidance.
Thunderstreaker shakingly takes a step forward. Bulkhead: “Easy, easy. You’re doing great kid.” They groan a bit trying to take another step. Thunderstreaker looking at a concern Wheeljack. Thunderstreaker: “I got it, I got it…” Their knee gives out and is prepared to taste the floor. Someone catches their arm. They look and see a slightly concern Magnus. Magnus: “That’s enough for now soldier. Take a break.” Thunderstreaker gives him a tired smile as Wheeljack and Bulkhead help them back to the medical berth.
Arcee and Bee watched over Thunderstreaker making sure that they weren’t overdoing it.
Bumblebee watched them mainly if he had a feeling they were going to do something that could harm their wings.
Arcee just watched them like a hawk, already planning Arachnids demise.
Thunderstreaker on Bumblebee’s back. Thunderstreaker: “This isn’t necessary.” Bumblebee: “Beep. (It is).” Thunderstreaker sees Arcee. Thunderstreaker: “Back me up Cee!” Arcee chuckling a bit. Arcee: “You’re on your own Thunders.” Thunderstreaker: “Traitor!”
Ratchet made sure to explain everything that was going on, so it didn’t seem as scary as before.
The kids, June and even Fowler helped too.
Since their new scars were on their back and near some sensitive wiring, their smaller hands were perfect in helping massage some human safe gels over them.
Thunderstreaker on their chassis as the kids rub the gel on their back. Miko: “These scars are wicked!” Thunderstreaker chuckled a bit. Jack: “How did it happen anyways? I don’t think Arcee or anyone told us about it.” Thunderstreaker went silent. Raf: “You don’t have to say it now! When its okay you can tell us.” Thunderstreaker glances over at the humans spreading and squeezing more gel from the bottle and gives a grateful smile. Thunderstreaker: “I’ll tell you guys, I promise. Just… just not now. BUT! On another note, how was that science fair?”
The hardest part was held for Optimus.
It was getting back to the air.
Getting back to flying again.
Thunderstreaker had yet to tell what exactly happened to them and how they escaped.
Seeing any excuse, they could to get out of that discussion.
Optimus is holding Thunderstreaker in the air. His jetpack had recently gotten fixed. Optimus: “Are you ready?” Thunderstreaker in a shaking voice: “Give me a minute Prime.” Optimus notices the shakiness in their voice and frame. Optimus: “It is okay to be afraid Thunderstreaker.” Thunderstreaker lets out a nervous laugh. Thunderstreaker: “Scared? Me? No, I’m just… enjoying the view! That’s all!” Optimus gives Thunderstreaker a look. Optimus: “It is okay to feel scared. We all have felt it.” Thunderstreaker: “… Even you Prime?” Optimus has flashbacks to him holding back the rage and fear he felt when he cradled Thunderstreaker’s limp frame to the medbay. Optimus: “Yes. It is normal to feel fear, but we must be strong and overcome them. We cannot truly live until we conquer some of our fears.” Thunderstreaker vents softly trying to blink back some tears. Thunderstreaker: “… Let me go Prime.” Optimus: “I am right here if you need me.” The Prime let’s go of the young Seeker and watches them fall. For a split second he considers diving down to get them but stops seeing them transform and hovering a bit and moving slow. Thunderstreaker: “I’m doing it! Optimus I’m doing it!” They transform give the Prime a tight hug. Thunderstreaker: “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Optimus chuckles a bit and just holds them.

Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) : The Key to Flawless Welding
A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is essential for achieving precise and high-quality welds. It outlines the steps, parameters, and guidelines that ensure consistent and flawless welding results. But what is a WPS in welding? Simply put, it’s a detailed document that defines the weld specification, including joint configurations, welding process, and filler material. Understanding what a…

Stick Welding, also referred to as Shreeped Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), is one of the more preferred techniques out there due to its simplicity and versatility. That said, the process of stick welding emits considerable smoke and contaminates the air which compromises the over well being of a workspace.

QOTU: Something Good

My first official installment in the 'Quarters of the Undead' AU created with @dixons-sunshine is here! We get to watch Vec and Scud's first meeting play out. Be prepared to become obsessed with them because I certainly am. Lydia Vector (Vec) belongs to me, Georgie Hawkins (Ginny, as Vec calls her) belongs to Krys. Banner and divider were also both made by her.
You can get to know Vec a little bit better here and Georgie here
This is my first time writing for Scud as well as my first time writing in third person in a long time, so please go easy on me.
CW for swearing, mention of medical procedures (she is a doctor, after all), a teeny tiny bit of sexual content if you squint really hard
Word count: 3.8k
@gothic-pumpkin you asked to be tagged in this <3
I'm not joking when I say I screamed into my pillow the other night because I love them so much these two make me absolutely feral I need to be put down or sedated or something
My AO3 Krys' AO3 Quarters Of The Undead (QOTU) Masterlist
“I can’t believe this is happening,” Vec sighed, running a hand through her hair as she rested her elbows on the counter.
First, there was spilling hot coffee all over her fresh scrubs. Then, there was cutting her finger on a can of Monster, followed by dropping her keys in the toilet and burning her toast to a blackened crisp.
And that was all before even setting foot out the door.
While pulling up to a stoplight on her way to the hospital, her 2007 Toyota Corolla came to a halt, the dreaded sound of repeated clicks filling the car as she tried to start it again. A kind stranger stopped to give her a jump start, allowing her to make it to the auto shop just down the street, but not before she took a moment to white-knuckle the steering wheel and scream at the top of her lungs.
When it rains, it pours.
“Just what I thought. Dead battery,” a man behind the counter called out as he approached from the back. His name badge branded ‘manager’ swayed around his neck as he walked, creating a soft tapping sound as it clacked against the buttons of his shirt. “We can do it today, but it’s gonna be a while. We’re a bit backed up.” He reached under the counter into a drawer and pulled out an intake form. “You gonna wait around?”
“No, I’m heading to work,” Vec corrected, flipping her phone open to send a quick text to her best friend.
Vec: Car broke down on the road. Having the worst day :( Ginny: Oh no :( Ginny: Hoping something good comes out of this shitty day <3
That was Georgie, always whipping out her relentless optimism whenever the moment called for it.
“Your name?” the man asked.
“Lydia Vector. V-e-c-t-o-r.” She slipped her phone back into her pocket, grabbing a scrunchie and pulling her long black hair into a ponytail. “I prefer to go by Vec, though.”
“I’ll put both,” he said.
As she flattened and tied up her hair, a movement out of the corner of her peripheral caught her attention, and her eyes trailed over to one of the mechanics. He was tinkering with something, a welding gun in his hand and a bandana tied around his head to keep his soft brown hair from falling in his eyes.
And she was practically drooling after just one look at him.
“Hey,” she asked, nodding her head in the mechanic’s direction, “the cutie with the bandana. What’s his name?”
The man’s gaze followed her nod to his employee in the corner of the room. “That’s Josh,” he explained, the sound emanating from the depth of his chest a hybrid between a scoff and a chuckle, “he’s uh…he’s a bit of a wildcard.”
A small smile crept across Vec’s lips. She, too, had been granted the title of “wildcard,” both by her best friend & her family. She was already looking forward to meeting her match.
“We close at eight,” the manager interjected, clearing his throat before he continued, “if you can get here before then, you’ll have it back today.”
“Oh, that’s perfect. I’m supposed to be off at six. Might be a bit late, but I should be here before you close,” Vec assured, slipping her keys back into the pocket of her scrubs, “that’s the life of an ER doctor for you.” She gave the manager a grateful smile as she scooped a fresh can of Monster from her bag. “Thank you again. Today has been a nightmare.”
“Not a problem, ma’am,” he reassured, returning the grin, “we’ll call you when it’s done. I hope your day gets better.”
“Thank you. Me too.”
Before heading out the door, Vec looked back over her shoulder to steal one last glance at the handsome mechanic. Torn between wanting to give him her number on the spot and not wanting to be disrespectful and corner him at his workplace, she opted for the latter, hoping he would be there when she returned. Plus, she was already running behind. “Cutie with the bandana” Josh would have to wait.
Little did she know, she hadn’t been the only one stealing glances.
He’d taken notice of her the second she walked in the door. A little frazzled, hair disheveled from forgetting to brush it during the chaos of her morning, eyes tinged red from the stress cry she had in her car before coming inside. But he saw right past all of that.
It was almost angelic the way she ran her fingers through her hair, gathering it into a high ponytail. Her hair was so long that even then, it still reached far down her back. Though her eyes were tinted red, the ocean blue of her irises were the most stunning color he’d ever seen. The smile she gave the manager as she left, the way her scrubs hugged her body…the light thumping in his chest was beginning to pick up speed.
“Josh!” another mechanic called out, smacking him in the chest with the back of his hand. Though it stung, even that was barely able to pull him out of the clouds and back down to reality. “C’mon man, help me with this!”
“S-sorry,” Josh stuttered, subtly shaking his head and blinking rapidly a few times to further pull himself from his trance.
Over the course of her shift, Vec had forgotten all about her car and the shitty start she’d had to her day. She didn’t forget, though, about the cutie with the bandana. He’d been nestled in the back of her mind all day, creeping his way to the front at every few-and-far-between free moment she had. All Vec could do is hope he’d be there when she returned.
A nasty bout of gangrene and a couple of motorcycle accidents later, she was back in the staff locker room, eager to be home and in bed after being on her feet all day. Stepping out the bathroom stall, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, and it was only in that moment that it occurred to her what time it was and that it was, in fact, past closing time at the auto shop. She answered the phone with a sigh, repeatedly mentally kicking herself for letting time slip away from her like that.
“I’m so sorry, my shift ran over,” she apologized as she opened her locker, scrambling to grab her jacket and her bag.
“My wife’s an ER nurse, I get it. Don’t worry about it,” the manager said, “one of my guys offered to stay late so you could pick it up.”
Vec set her bag on the bench behind her, holding her phone between her shoulder and her cheek as she slipped her arms into her jacket sleeves. “I can’t ask any of you to do that.”
“You didn’t ask. He offered,” the man corrected. The jingling of keys filled her ear, followed by the ‘click’ of a door lock. “If you’re gonna be later than nine, try to call if you can and let him know.”
“Oh my God, thank you.” Her shoulders relaxed as she breathed a sigh of relief. “I’ll be there as quick as I can.”
The clock on her phone read 8:45pm. The auto shop was only about a mile up the road, she thought, she could easily make it. As she reached the front doors of the hospital, she sent another series of texts to Georgie.
Vec: Picking up my car Vec: If I don’t text you by 9:30, call me until I answer Ginny: Be safe <3
It had only just gotten dark, the streetlights coming on as she stepped out the automatic hospital doors. The road was still busy, as the streets of Atlanta often were, flooded with cars late into the night. Despite all the lights and amount of people outside, she still kept her wits about her as she walked.
She stood at only 5 foot 7, yet despite her average size, she had surprising combat skills, her Navy SEAL brothers having taught her everything they knew. She’d handled men bigger than her before, once breaking one’s nose, and other bones, after she caught him trying to spike her drink at a bar. Still, she found comfort in toying with her small blue canister of pepper spray and clenching her keys between her fingers.
The walk to the auto shop was brief, only around 15 minutes or so, nothing noteworthy aside from a group of college students stumbling their way toward downtown. A car drove past with their windows down, blasting a song that was one of Vec’s favorites from her high school years, and she caught herself softly singing along to the tune long after the car passed by, all the way to the front door of the tiny auto shop.
Removing her cap and scrunchie, she shook her hair out, fluffing it with her fingers and adjusting her glasses on her nose. Cupping a hand around her eyes and peering through the glass of the front door, she saw him propped on a stool behind the counter, flipping through some sort of book she couldn’t quite make out, that soft brown hair tied up out of his eyes.
The cutie with the bandana.
Josh had kept himself occupied by flipping through old comic books his boss kept in his office and crafting little sketches on a notepad as he eagerly awaited for her to return. The sketches were small but chaotic, the random words scribbled alongside them acting as triggers for him to remember important details later.
This cutie with the bandana was an auto mechanic by day and inventor by night.
She knocked softly on the glass, tapping it gently with her knuckle as to not spook him. Peeling his peepers away from his half-completed drawing, he nearly lit up when he saw it was her standing there on the sidewalk, giving him a small wave and a smile. He quickly shoved the notepad into his pocket and hopped off the stool, doing his best to keep his cool as he walked as to not appear too eager.
During those few seconds as he approached and opened the door, he was finally close enough for her to get a good look at his facial features. He had the cutest button nose, high cheekbones, and piercing eyes that were the most breathtaking shade of blue she’d ever seen. Vec had to clench her jaw and repeatedly swallow to keep herself from drooling.
Blue was her favorite color, it always had been. Now, she had yet another reason for it to be.
“Cutie with the bandana at your service,” he greeted with a smirk as he held the door open for her.
Blood rushed to her cheeks as she stepped inside, the chill of the evening Georgia air being cut off as he closed the door and the dread setting in at the realization that someone had told him about her earlier comments. “Oh God,” she groaned, rubbing between her eyebrows as embarrassment flooded her system at an overwhelming rate, “Jesus, I’m…God, I’m so sorry.” She sheepishly trailed behind him to the counter, keeping her gaze on her feet, practically stumbling over her words. “I, uh…I have a tendency to be very…forward. Christ, this is humiliating, I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be. You know what you want, and you go for it. I like that.” Biting the inside of her bottom lip, an anxious habit of hers, she peeled her cerulean eyes from the floor, this time locking them with his. The feeling in the pit of her stomach was more than just butterflies. “My name’s Josh. Friends call me Scud.”
“Like ‘stud’?” Vec asked, and he nodded, “interesting. How’d you get that?”
“Could ask the same about—“ he paused to glance down at the form, as if he didn’t study her name on that paper over and over again before she arrived— “‘Vec.”
“I believe I asked you first.” Her tone was playful, oozing with flirtation, and that sweet pink flush returned to her cheeks yet again. Scud was never particularly drawn to pink, but now, it was quickly becoming his favorite color.
“And I asked you second,” he teased. He pulled a pen from his pocket and removed the cap with his teeth, spitting it onto the counter next to him. “How’s that saying go? ‘Second is the best, first is the worst?’”
Scud was immediately kicking himself for his choice of words. In his attempt to flirt back, he’d just sounded like an asshole.
“Wow,” she scoffed with a smirk, slightly wide-eyed and drawing the sounds of her words for dramatic effect.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” He was nearly stumbling over his words to apologize, desperate to correct himself. “Probably should’ve went with ‘ladies first’.”
“It’s a nickname I got in high school. Too many Lydias in my class. What about yours?”
“Mine too.”
“Too many Lydias in your class as well?” If he wanted to tease, she could too.
“Cute and funny. You’re quite a combo,” Scud complimented as he worked at filling in the blank spaces on her form.
Vec ran a hand over her cheeks, attempting to hide that she was already turning red again. She could dish the flirtation on all day. Taking it, though, was a different story.
“So how come you didn’t just go by Stud?” Her eyes widened and immediately dropped to the counter, practically bugging out of her skull, and her jaw was on the floor. It was as if the words left her mouth on their own accord.
He was clearly reciprocating the flirting, but there was still something that felt wrong about it. He was still working, after all. She’d often fallen victim to being flirted with at her workplace, so she was well acquainted with the discomfort that came with that. Fearing she was crossing boundaries, she apologized once again. “I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s gotten into me.”
He found it endearing, flattering, and downright adorable, the way she couldn’t seem to stop herself from from being flirtatious, and Scud would’ve been lying if he said it didn’t help to boost his ego. A young woman comes in, and not only is she drop-dead gorgeous, but she was flirting with him? He was on cloud nine.
“Told you you don’t have to be sorry.” A sweet, boyish smile crossed his lips as their eyes locked again. He wanted to dive right into those crystal blue pools and never find his way back out. “So you like working as a nurse?”
She cocked an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”
“Your scrubs.” Scud gestured up and down her body with a nod, his gaze lingering on her curves for just a moment too long. Thankfully, not a moment long enough for her to notice.
A soft, amused chuckle trickled out from her half-smile, her eyes falling to the floor for half a second before meeting his again. Scud swallowed hard, his hand trailing to and holding his abdomen. The fluttering in his stomach was an unfamiliar sensation.
Was she making him nervous? He was a confident guy, albeit maybe a bit too confident at times. He wasn’t new to the world of women by any means and could often be a bit forward himself. He too knew what he wanted and would go for it. So what was with the butterflies?
“Oh no, not RN,” Vec replied, reaching into her pocket to pull out her badge, flexing her credentials, “MD.”
“Shit.” Scud’s stomach dropped, fearing his asinine assumption just ruined any chance he had with the beautiful doctor before him. “Fucking this up, aren’t I?”
She folded her arms across her chest and rolled her eyes, that sweet giggle traveling to his ears again. There was a glow radiating off of her. It was almost ethereal. “Now when did I say that?”
“So what kind of doctor are you?” Scud asked as he rotated the paper around to face her, tapping on the ‘signature’ line on the bottom with the tip of his pen.
“Trauma surgeon,” Vec explained as she dug around in her bag for her wallet, “emergency room. Bullet wounds, amputations, skin grafts, all that jazz.” Successfully finding her wallet, she handed over her card, their fingers barely grazing past each other.
Though their touch was small, the electricity that sparked between them could’ve lit the entire city of Atlanta.
“Damn,” Scud replied, swallowing hard once again and using his hand that wasn’t tapping keys on the register to steady himself on the counter. That brief moment when their fingers touched turned his knees to jelly. “You’ve probably seen some stuff, huh?”
“You could say that.” Her knees had also turned to jelly, and the butterflies in her stomach amped up, having made a home in her stomach from the moment she walked in the door. She was just a little better at maintaining her composure.
Taking the pen off the counter and twirling it in her fingers, a phenomenal idea crossed her mind. She nodded to the empty space behind him as she signed off on the form. “You got a sticky note back there, Josh?”
His name sounded so sweet when it dripped off her lips like that.
Hoping this was going in the direction he thought, he pulled his notepad from his pocket, tearing one of the small pages out and sliding it across the counter to her. “Thank you.”
As he ran her card and printed the receipt, she etched out a series of numbers and some words before folding the sheet in half and holding it out to him. “What’s that?”
“My number. For if you’d like to…continue this conversation. And you’re not off the market.” She let her fingers linger on his for just a second before pulling away, taking her sweet time in doing so. The thumping in Scud’s chest was now ringing in his ears.
“Been on the market a while. Surprised someone like yourself is too.” Slipping the note into his jacket pocket, he slid the receipt across the counter to her. “Just need your John Hancock and you’re good to go.”
As she signed off on the paper, blood continued to flow to her cheeks despite her best efforts to prevent it. However, the embarrassment of turning pink only made it worse, and it didn’t help that Scud was taking notice. “You do that a lot, don’t you?”
“Do what a lot?” She hoped feigning ignorance might deter him from inquiring further, but when he motioned to his own cheeks with his finger, she knew it was to no avail. “Oh, yeah. Unfortunately, I do.”
“Well it’s cute, so keep it up.” Naturally, that only made the baby pink of her cheeks darken into a crimson red. Scud couldn’t help but allow his mind to wander and picture her with those flushed cheeks in a more…nefarious situation.
He took her receipt off the counter and chuckled under his breath at her signature as he placed it into the register and locked it. Doctor’s handwriting. “C’mon, car’s out back. I’ll walk you.”
She slowly, cautiously stepped around the side of the counter, ensuring to keep at least a few feet of distance between them. Sure, he was cute, and yes, she absolutely loved that he was reciprocating the flirting, but he was still a stranger. She kept one hand in her pocket, fiddling with her canister of pepper spray, the other free and at her side.
“I’m not gonna bite,” he promised, “don’t even have a bark you gotta worry about.” As she took a couple of small steps closer, he put his hands in the air, interlocking his fingers around the back of his neck. “Can keep them like this if it makes you feel better.”
She nodded, and keeping a hand on her pepper spray, she followed him down a tiny hallway, still making sure to keep a couple of feet between them. She had a good judge of character, it was one of her strongest skills, and her gut only had good things to say about this guy. Even then, especially as a woman, one could never be too cautious.
The bitter evening air greeted them as Scud opened the back door to the building, holding it open for her with his body. He kept his hands locked behind his head, only removing them once they were at her car to reach into his pocket and hand her her key. Their fingers brushed again, and this time, he kept his in place for a few moments, letting the electricity dance between them. She kept her eyes on them, watching him toy with the key resting in her hand, and the same soft, amused giggle from earlier emerged from her chest once more. His baby blues were locked on her, watching strands of her black-as-night hair fall into her eyes and using every fiber of his being to restrain himself from reaching out to brush them away.
“Well, it was lovely to meet you, Josh,” Vec practically cooed, her lashes fluttering softly as her eyes flicked back to meet his, “thank you for staying. And I, uh, hope to hear from you. Sooner rather than later.”
That adorable, boyish smile returned to his face. He pulled his jacket tighter around himself and folded his arms across his chest. “The pleasure was all mine. Now get home safe.”
“You too,” she replied.
Waltzing back toward the shop with a newfound pep in his step, Scud was far too eager to wait until he was back inside before tearing open the note she’d written for him. Her doctor handwriting was more legible here, and she’d clearly taken time to make sure it came out nice and pretty.
Vec 555-555-5555 Thanks for being my something good today :)
She tossed her bag in the passenger seat, removing her glasses for a moment and running her hands over her face. Exhaustion was beginning to set in, the weight of sleep heavy in her under-eyes, and her attempts to hold back her yawns were to no avail. As she buckled herself in and started her car, her phone vibrated in the cupholder. Normally, she wasn’t one to answer calls from unknown numbers, but her gut feeling told her exactly who to expect on the other end. And it was correct.
“You said soon. This soon enough?”
“I’d say so,” she chuckled as she slipped her glasses back onto her nose and adjusted them. She covered her mouth to stifle yet another yawn. “How about I text you in the morning? I gotta be up at 5.”
“I expect no later than 5:15,” he joked. The beaming smile on his face was evident in the tone of his voice.
“You have my word,” she promised. Vec always kept her word. It was worth more than gold to her.
After hanging up, she flipped to her messages to send one last text to Georgie before heading home, her cheeks already beginning to ache as her big, goofy grin somehow continued to grow larger.
Vec: So something good came out of this shitty day :)
