I don’t actually have Spotify! I do have Apple Music— shameful, I know lol. Anyway:

This checks out- except having Epic the Musical and Jorge Rivera-Herrans separate is kind of cheating.

The sad thing is my number 4 song I have saved in 2 different iterations and the algorithm counts them separately, so that should be higher.

I genuinely don’t remember listening to this much NoahFinnce so not sure when that happened. Everything else checks out (you can definitely tell Hot Mulligan is my favorite band).

There’s only one Gracie Abrams song in my library, so hilarious that she makes it up there, but…

I uh. Maybe listen to too much music. But based on number of artists, at least it’s the same music? I don’t know y’all.

Guys… my phone was dead from December 31st to halfway through January 2nd.

I loove the android robin au it's really one of the most interesting au I have seen in a while.

I am always happy to see new post abt it

Also making my favourite characters go through hell and then receiving comfort from their people is like the best thing ever for me so every time I see a whump!Robin post I like automatically

People loving android!Robin makes me so happy anansnssndsnsns she's curious and excitable and full of wonder and the world keeps punishing her for simply being alive. Sometimes it's too painful even for me, big whump lover 😭😭 though seriously, there is not enough Robin whump, and while all the characters in the show are very whumpeable, hurting my little blorbo Robin feels special because... she's just so deeply lonely. She's lonely and she thinks she deserves to be because of something wrong with her (pulling this interpretation from Surviving Hawkins lore which is canon to me 😭). That was a big idea I had when I first came up with android!Robin... that there is something wrong with her. Broken. In this AU she's literally broken in a lot of way (battery and memory problems, weak joints in her lower half, etc), but that's all within the range of normal robot problems. The real issue with her is that she's sentient. It terrifies people because it really brings out the existencial horror of... well, existing. It terrifies Robin most of all. She is the problem. She is what's wrong with her. She shouldn't exist.

But at the same time, she loves being alive so much! She doesn't understand it and doesn't know how it happened, but it happened, and now she's real and wants to experience life and the world and know people like human beings do. So it's her constant battle to become human despite humans having hurt her so much in the past... only for Nancy to already see her as human. Just one made of metal and plastic, but human nonetheless. She's the first person to see her that way and maybe everyone else thinks she's crazy, but Nancy is used to that. She's so sure of this, though, of Robin's self-awareness. She trusts her so blindly. She doesn't even need proof. And not only does she believe her, but she defends her humanity in front of her friends and family so ardently, fighting so hard for Robin to be aknowledged by everyone else as human. Fighting so hard to give her a home and family for the first time in her life.

Nancy has it bad for Robin, really. She's just so in love, even if everyone else thinks she's crazy for falling in love with a machine (no one thinks she is, though, because they all know Robin, and once you know Robin, it's impossible not to love her).

I'm liking the idea of weekly music recs rather than daily ones. I like the idea of slowly digesting and living with a song for longer than just 3 minutes. I like the idea of coming back to a piece of music. I like the idea of discovering little pockets of musical gems within a song, grow attached to a riff, be able to ruminate on lyrics, motifs, themes and to slowly fall in love with something, aided by familiarity.

I am enjoying recommending music as individual embeds rather than a playlist that you can just put on. I guess, where you have to take a moment to look at the artist name and song title, rather than just 'something's automatically playing off my Spotify right now'.

I've been posting the Song-to-go polls for the last 3 weeks, and I'm seeing it's working a bit differently to the usual polls: when people post polls, you usually see the votes outnumber the notes, but instead it's the opposite here! I see people sort of drafting or reblogging the poll, so that they can actually sit down and listen to it properly later and then vote (and it means a lot to me that voting on a little poll of unknown songs is something people put care, thought and time of day into, it makes me really happy to see!).

I guess I'm just loving the idea of a slower, more thoughtful consumption, it's a little different I think to what I'm able to do on radio, which is quite one-and-done (tbf, with good reason. I think you should think of the radio as a preview of music to broaden your palette, especially in today's age of instantly available streaming. When radio caters to just indulgently re-playing your favourite old music, I think it forgets its place within the music industry and starts facing its inevitable death, though I am saying this as someone who has had to be mindful of using radio as a medium to offer something streaming cannot, which is why anyone listens to me at all. I think).

Embarrassingly, I've genuinely fist-pumped the air or made equally silly little gestures of excitement on reading people's tags on the polls. I hope you're having as much fun with this as I am.

I think the frustrating thing about Spotify recommendations is sometimes it really does introduce me to lots of cool Indie Bands that I really vibe with and allow me to try some new stuff and sometimes it keeps telling me that I need to Listen to Mother Mother (I have not listened to Mother Mother ever and at this point I never will because it is a pride thing.)

Or a random unfunny tiktok joke song from 3 years ago/ a viral YouTube song from over a decade ago.

MUSIC TAG GAME

Thanks to @gyokujyn and @mandyyvibes for the tag! Sorry it took me a while to get to it but I'm truly living for these games, they're so fun :)

The rules are shuffle your ‘on repeat’ playlist and list the first 10 songs that play, then tag 10 people. But since most of my spotify on repeat playlist is just songs that loop endlessly while I sleep or random shit I listened to twice two years ago (all that money going into algorithms and this is what we get), I'm gonna go the same route as @gyokujyn and post a shuffled song each from my most recently listened to playlists.

Okay, this gave me whiplash but definitely not as much as it could've? And it didn't earn the "do you think a depressed person could make this?" meme, which is something. I'm improving!
