Double Trouble
During a convention in Gotham, the Fentons brought the rebuilt Fenton Ghost Catcher, they were extremely proud of their invention and were going to catch as many ghosts as possible at their paranormal convention.
But as is normal in Gotham, a rogue attacked. Croc personally wasn't too interested in what was going on there but he was paid by some others to cause a distraction while some villains robbed the place and extra money was always great.
From the looks of it, the news that the Fentons were coming to Gotham were public. The Fentons were known as very reclusive weapon makers with peculiar interests. Their inventions sold very well, and were extremely dangerous so Peguin assumed that even if they were destined for "ghosts" they would work perfectly fine with bats.
Jason already knew that the two weapon inventors were in the city, the Bat was too paranoid not to know, but the Fentons never showed that they wanted to cause harm so when Croc attacked Red Hood was guarding the place.
The problem was that during the battle he was pushed into the Ghost Catcher and separated into two halves. One looked like the normal him but more ghostly? while the other was more lively and energetic. The second one looked like a bigger version of what Robin would have been without his death. Of course, the invention blew up right after that, and the Fentons looked sad.
Danny scrambled to hide both Jason before his parents noticed, motioning for him to be quiet as he watched the villains make off with the anti-ghost weapons. He knew the convention would turned into a mess since the beginning.

I've done QA before (not for games, but in general). The point of QA is to be a stress test, to see if a system has any flaws or loopholes or breaking points before it reaches its intended audience

And imagine setting a person like that loose in the setting of a world that has been their special interest every single day for the past 13 years

i've been dead and gone bc of school and jobsearching and everything happening all at once but ive been playing the boktai series games lately and i'm enjoying it a lot. I just got past the third boss in boktai 2. I don't know why but i'm enthralled with these games, i highly recommend them
#WOE TEN THOUSAND TAG MUSINGS BE UPON YE (this is a warning)#boktai#(pointing) the battle network fan has fallen for the crossover marketing 20 years late#the first gif is bc i imagine the bosses waiting all polite like for django to finish eating healing items when heal scumming in fights.#twenty apples a day keeps the damage away#django is like a son to me hes just a little guy#if the text is hard to read in the third image it says “The tick damage in sunlight brothers”#i find it funny that vampire django still gains his energy from sunlight after turning. his voiceline changes too#it's hard to tell if it's bc hes supposed to sound gruff or like hes in pain. but it makes me feel bad for recharging energy like that#i figure he'd be wound up abt this since it seems he views any connection to his father with a lot of weight#(e.x: zazie pointing out he's crying just after the gun del sol got stolen at the start of 2)#hence why he's depressed in that image#also all the official art of him looks very cool but im incapable of seeing him like that his sprite makes him look like a scruffy dog#im torn between thinking it's cute nd wanting to make fun of him with doodles. least typical vampire appearance with the most typical power#the way you kill immortals (vampires) in this game is so metal i need to rant abt it Somewhere#so like boktai is a game series abt vampire hunting but it's rather sci-fi abt it. instead of more typical weapons you use solar energy#the immortals resurrect after being killed#but this can be prevented via purification. the way this goes is#after winning a bossfight the enemy will get sealed in a coffin. that you then to drag allll the way back outside the dungeon#(often with new puzzles thanks to the coffin being an extra weight)#all the while the immortal inside tries to escape#the objective is to get the immortal to a. summoning circle i guess?#housing devices called pile drivers. they're more like lenses or mirrors though.#they focus sunrays on the coffin purifying the immortal after a brief fight that's like#preventing the boss from attacking the pile drivers until it dies#like. this doesn't sound all that special but most bosses you fight are sentient and i just think it's a bit of a brutal method#for a main protagonist to use#i keep thinking of how it must feel to do it for a living. something like a funeral driver but you're the murderer and the corpse isn't dea#and instead of a funeral you're taking them to a mega death laser array that'll slowly chip away at their health#and then boktai 2 inflicts that on django and im like. is he ok (he's ok but he died)

Honestly if anything, I really hope that Palworld makes developers realize that monster collecting games can be more than just JRPGs. I've played a whole lot of these other monster collection games that people recommend (Yo-kai Watch, Digimon, Monster Hunter Stories, Fossil Fighters, etc) and despite how much I love monster collecting games... I'm burnt out on RPGs! I want something new to the genre, and I think THAT is why Palworld appeals to me so much.
Like, what would a platformer monster collector look like? A metroidvania? A soulslike?? THIS is the door I want Palworld to open. I know GameFreak isn't threatened by this game at all, they're not gonna improve because of it. But I DO want it to inspire indie devs to think outside the box.

Smile 2; The commodification of trauma in the entertainment industry
Let’s just get this out of the way first. I liked Smile 2! I liked it a lot more than I thought I would! My criteria for if I would watch a third if one happens was that they add exactly Zero Lore to the film. The first one set up the rules and monster just fine. 
There is a demon/psychic parasite that is transmitted via trauma of either a intentionally ghastly murder committed by its host in front of a witness OR after eating your trauma and intrusive thoughts for roughly a week it finally manages to take you over and immediately makes you kill yourself, passing itself on to the witness to continue the cycle.
That’s it, that’s all the setup needed. There’s a contagious trauma demon, just wind it up and set it loose on a scenario. And, minor spoilers, they did! Zero lore was added! I’ll see the third if it happens and if not I’m just gonna pay attention to any project Parker Finn directs.
Things I continue to not SUPER love about the Smile franchise; there’s a good number of jumpscares. I’ll give them a pass here however because between the pacing and sound design and cinematography and the general mastery in which all these elements work together, the film is able to manipulate the tension in the audience like few others can. 
Okay now that all that stuff is out of the way…Let’s talk about why the Smile movies legitimately have something to say.
Smile 2 is about Skye Riley, a popstar with a troubled past riddled with tragedy, substance abuse, and being the product of a mother who “sacrificed everything” dance moms style for her. Right from the getgo we can see that despite the comeback tour planned and public appearances and public therapy and supportive staff, the support systems in place all exist for Skye Riley the popstar and not Skye Riley the person who shortly into the runtime gets hell’s worst roommate stuck in her greymatter.
And that’s an important thing to repeatedly come back to. At the end of the day, Skye has a staff and sponsors and investors and Appearances that must be kept, and thanks to a mid-movie speech we know that honestly it isn’t worth it for her! The industry took her in and chewed her up for years and years, invading her privacy and making every second of her life a product to be sold to anyone with even a passing interest. In the same year we had Chapel Roan rightly telling people to fuck off for invading her privacy, the criticism the film lays at the feet of the music industry for its commodification and treatment of musicians feels all that more poignant. 
Skye is never able to ask for help. She is a product first and a person second, and if the person thing gets in the way of the product then she’s in trouble. A comeback tour with millions on the line and a mother/manager focused on those logistics means that when Skye should be genuinely asking for help (such as with her intense pain from a car accident), she swallows it and pushes on because at the end of the day she doesn’t feel like she can get away from it all. She even says fairly early on to a friend over the phone that she just. Doesn’t have anyone she can lean on and be genuine with, everything else in her life is centered on the her that’s a business venture.
The thing that genuinely gets me about the Smile movies is that both movies focus on people whose environments and support systems fail them in very real, non-supernatural ways. Smile 1 examines the treatment of mental illness within the medical field and how difficult it can be to maintain your relationships when those mental illnesses put you in unflattering situations around people with no first hand context. Smile 2 looks at the fact that the road to recovery for substance abuse never really ends, even if people around you might act like once you “get sober” everything suddenly becomes “normal” again. These people heartbreakingly are also the first to blame you when your road to recovery inconveniences them. Then you take all those very real problems and put them in a blender with a psychic nightmare parasite and film what comes out.
The other thing I really like is that DESPITE all of that, despite the history the characters had and the failings of their environment for them, they are not denied the opportunity for personal growth. Despite the psychic goblin tormenting her, Skye continuously confronts her metaphorical demons, the things holding her back, the presence that keeps her a commodity rather than a person, and she doesn’t back down! It’s a horror movie through and through, so of course it has an unhappy ending, but the fact that it doesn’t take that chance to grow and heal and become better away from her means a lot to me. Even in the darkest parts of your life, you are allowed growth. 
Even if the demon wins in the end it doesn’t mean the growth you had was worthless.
And I think that sentiment matters.
