Kazuki crying just because Rei asked to help is so Kazuki, he's so dramatic lmao.
But seriously, its so nice to see Rei actually putting more conscious effort into helping out with Miri and not just being carried along by Kazuki. Because let's be honest, it's one thing to decide to do something and another to actually do it so I'm glad we get to see him take decisive action.
And we see he's also unsure about it and asks if Miri will like it, because maybe he knows he'll never be as good at this stuff as Kazuki is but he still tries anyways. Its the effort...THE EFFORT.

i'll be honest i really really don't think we're wrapping up the conclave arc this season. everyone is saying we're ending w raishan and a bard's lament but i mean we don't even have the spire of conflux yet. we haven't even seen it in clips or official art. and i think it'd be too much of a coincidence if yenk (who is what seems like some random demon chasing them down in tlovm canon) just has it in him. they're gonna personalize the trial to get the staff for keyleth the same way they did for scanlan and presumably pike

REALLY hope that nobody snapped a picture of Clark and Lois kissing because if Sam ever reads the paper and sees a picture of his daughter being smooched in the air by the so-called "invader" on the front page, any reservations he might have had about going after Superman are going straight out the window.

Saw BTS pics of 911 and Gerard is there... what if instead of selecting one of the core four to take over while Bobby is out of commission... the county assigns him as the interim Captain as punishment for going AWOL and subverting orders during the cruise rescue 😰?

remember when aaron sorkin straightbaited joshdonna in the solemn introduction to his incredibly nuanced 9/11 discussion episode. because that was frankly the funniest thing he's ever done.

Just watched the season 8 futurama finale
Skipped the others, and probably won't be going back to them, seeing as the few "topical"/current-day-isms in All The Way Down caused me physical pain, and season 8 just seems to be nothing but that and Fry-Leela drama that I don't want to ruin the perfection that was Meanwhile. I really don't think the show is ever going to recapture the lightning in a bottle it had during its peak, but I also don't think it was just a waste/cash grab like most of the other reboots/remakes out there. The theming may have been a bit rushed and a bit heavy-handed, but even for a topic as overplayed as the one they went with it held my attention and had me genuinely invested, even if not the way I was for something like The Late Philip J. Fry. Bender's willingness to abandon the universe makes barely more sense in context than in the way I just said it, and I think it really needed more of a setup for the eventual reveal/punchline of how he comes back to not seem like an afterthought.
But despite the fact that I just wrote a mini essay of mild-to-moderate complaints and just as moderate praise, I think this was ultimately a good episode of Futurama. Which in turn automatically makes it infinitely better than 90% of the slop turned out by Western media these days, especially in "adult" animation. I'm gonna give some of season 9 a chance(except episode one, because not even Futurama could make "topical" crypto jokes be anything other than cringe); even if it'll never be as good as it used to be, that doesn't mean it has to be bad either. And in a media landscape filled to the brim with agenda pushing where creativity ought to be, even Futurama's brand of cringey topicalness is still far preferrable to a Disney/Marvel stile preach-fest. And with that obsession with heavy-handed lecturing leading to such a creatively barren wasteland, maybe a reboot of a series that actually keeps what made it work instead of pandering to the tastes that certain individuals have decided "modern audiences" should have(and then get mad when they don't and their crap flops) is exactly what we need. We may not be able to save the best of Futurama, but as the no-longer-final title card asked us to, we'll damn sure avenge it.

the beauty of this episode for me is how buck imagined this “perfect” traditional family and even though he enjoyed it, it wasn’t the family he’s built with the 118.
buck didn’t pop out of his coma dream and then turn around and be like “okay time to make a traditional family out here,” he popped out of his coma dream and realized he already has all the love and support he could need from his found family at the 118. choosing to welcome his parents into his life wasn’t out of need or desperation for their approval or anything like that--it’s because he wants it.
you may not want it for him, you may want him to cut the buckleys out bc of what they did to him and maddie, and i get it. but he’s choosing to let them in, to have a relationship (not even parental really!! bc he already has maddie!! and bobby!! canonical parental figures!!!) bc it’s nice. yes, nice. sometimes it’s nice to pretend, it’s nice to get together at holidays and have the kids be excited about their grandparents, it’s nice to be able to get along long enough to make some nice memories.
buck is choosing to have a relationship, if a distant one, with his parents who will be going back to pennsylvania in a week because he knows he has his true, closest, loving family in LA.
chimney can recognize that in the buckleys, and he’s giving it a chance. not forgiving his dad, not saying outright “alright we can be a loving family,” he’s saying don’t go back to another continent right this second, stay a few more days. let’s test this out. he’s taking the chance to be happy, to have a nice extended family, bc he knows he doesn’t need it, but he wants to try. that’s the beauty of this episode for me.
choosing to try for a relationship with your family because you want to, not because they’re your only support system.
