Meeting Regulus
Set on Sirius' 4th year, Regulus' 3rd. First year back since his transition, Regulus sits with Sirius in their train car cuz he's not ready to face the Skittles yet.
Regulus: ...you sure your friends wont mind me sitting here?
Sirius: 'course not.
---Remus, The Casual One---
Remus, entering: Hi, Sirius.
Sirius: Hey, Remus.
Remus, noticing Regulus: Oh, hi... *recognizes him* Reg-
Sirius: Regulus, this is Remus. Remus, this is my brother, Regulus.
Remus: Brother?
Sirius: Yeah. Sorry, you two haven't offically met yet, have you? Three years in Hogwarts and I never introduced you two to each other.
Remus:
Regulus: Uhm, we've met actually.
Sirius: You have?
Remus: We have?
Regulus: Yeah. The library? You helped me get the books from the higher shelves?
Remus: ...Oh, right! Wow. You've grown much taller since.
Sirius: He has. He's almost taller than me.
Remus: Well, in case you don't know yet, I'm also your brother's friend and the one responsible with keeping him out of trouble
Sirius: HEY!
---Peter, The Friendly One---
Peter, entering: Hey, guys.
Remus: Hey, Pete
Sirius: Hey, mate.
Peter: *notices Regulus* Oh, hello. Who's he?
Sirius: Peter, this is Regulus. He's my brother.
Peter: I didn't know you had a brother.
Sirius: What are you talking about? He's been going here for three years. And I always talk about him
Peter: ...You do?
Sirius: Yeah.
Peter: ...Really?
Regulus: Well, you're in 4th year, I'm in 3rd so, we probably don't see each other often.
Peter, recognizing him: Oh, wait, I do see you around. Aw, now I feel bad. I didn't know you were Sirius' brother.
Sirius: Well, now you do!
Peter: Yeah, now that I look at you, you kinda do look like Sirius. Almost like carbon copies.
Sirius: Well, he got his looks from me
Regulus:
---James, The Dumbass---
James, entering: Gentlemen! Your 2nd best form of entertainment has arrived!
Remus: 2nd best?
James: Sirius already called dibs on being the first.
Remus:
James: Anyways, I am here, and I- *sees Regulus*
Regulus, watching out the window: *turns to look at James*
James' Perspective: flowers floating around, a halo floating on Regulus' head, light shining down just right, everything in slow motion, "Take my breath away" playing in the background
Sirius: James?
James: Peter, move *shoves Peter to the side and sits next to Regulus*
Everyone:
James: And who is this charming young prince sitting with us today?
Everyone:
Sirius: This is Regulus.
James: Regulus. A star that shines so brightly in the night sky. *takes Regulus' hand* And a fitting name for one who is undoubtedly *kisses his hand* a king.
Everyone:
Regulus: ...Siri...
Sirius: James. Let. Go. Of. My. Brother's. Hand
James, looks at Sirius then back at Regulus: To be continued. *kisses his hand*
Regulus: *pulls his hand away*
Train Attendant: Any of you fancy a snack, dears?
Peter: Oh! Fizzing whizzbees, please.
Remus: 2 Chocolate frogs, please.
Sirius: I'll take a pack of Exploding Bonbons. Reg, you want anything?
Regulus: Do they have Peppermint Toads?
Sirius: And a pack of-
James: We'll take the lot!
Everyone:
James, to Regulus: You can have all the Peppermint Toads you want and more, my prince.
Everyone:

*has a little idea* I've gotta listen to brain commands.
First Day
Tumblr media
Alastor and Child Reader
Warning! ⚠
⚠ implied murder, mention of kidnapping, mention of heart attack, shake of head=no, fake crying lol, italic red=Alastor's thoughts ⚠
Tumblr media
Alastor didn't understand why some demons worried over the little children that ran amuck in Hell.
That is until he adopted one himself.
Small, wide eyed, and frail looking. Of course he'd worry after a glance. But after seeing the pile of dead bodies beneath their feet, it seemed like there wasn't too much to worry about.
So all he had to do was teach them how to make others fear them. Especially after the whole kidnapping fiasco with Valentino.
And what better timing than their first day of school.
.
You were playing around in the hotel.
Most of it was following Husk around and scaring the other hotel guests. But then Charlie told Alastor the number of complaints from guests about you and your pranks.
"They are absolutely harmless! What's a little scare going to do?", the deer demon said.
"Someone had a heart attack.", Vaggie piped in.
"Nuh-uh!", you popped up out of nowhere, making the two females jump in surprise. "That frog demon croaked! He's just mad that I made him make a funny sound."
The blonde sighs before holding out a flyer to the red dressed demon.
"Look, I know you're just having fun but not all demons think its funny.", she tells you before looking at Alastor. "There's a school for demon children not too far from the hotel, maybe they can meet demons their age and make friends?"
After dinner you and Alastor sat down on the couch in the hotel room and read through the flyer.
"I don't want to go.", you pouted.
"Don't worry my little terror, we'll think of something.", he booped your nose. "Perhaps we can use this as training!"
"Training?", you repeated.
"Yes! We'll use this as an opportunity!", Alastor said as he stood from the couch, turning to hold out a hand for you to take. "Come little one, there's much I have to teach you."
.
"Remember what I taught you little one!", Alastor says, fixing their coat. "Anything can be a weapon..."
"With enough force and creativity!", they said confidently.
"Correct!", his smile brightened. "Now, let's go show the ladies that you are a proper demon with manners so they feel bad for sending you out. Remember to look sad."
"Hmhmm!", the nod again before taking a deep breath, putting on their sad face and looking down at the floor.
"Perfect.", he approved before leading them by the hand down to the lobby.
Both of the girls were waiting by the entrance doors to say their goodbyes to the little demon.
"We are ready!", Alastor announces.
"Hey! We got them a-", Charlie starts before noticing the little demon's sad face. "..lunch box."
Vaggie squints at them but doesn't say anything.
Though the Radio Demon can see that his little one's sad face is affecting her as well, the moth demon clenching her fists.
"Now, what do we say mon petit?", the deer demon pats their back.
"I'm..", they say but don't look up yet. "I'm sorry for being bad and I'll go to school so..", finally they look up at the girls with little tears starting to well up. "Please don't be mad anymore."
Charlie is obviously affected the most and looks over at her partner, receiving a shake of the head from the white haired demon in response.
The princess takes a breath before handing over the lunch box to the little demon. "Its only for a little bit, alright?"
"Ok..", they say, still keeping up with the act before turning to face him. "Bye Alastor."
"It won't be for long, don't worry.", he 'reassures' them. "I'll pick you up when school is out."
They nod before hugging his side.
He pats them on the head before waving them goodbye as they walk out of the hotel and to the school bus.
Bidding the ladies adieu, Alastor lets his smile widen after turning away from the two, wondering how his little demon will cause chaos.
I can't wait to hear all about it~
Tumblr media
*wipes away tears after typing out the fake crying* I was that child huh.
~Seline, the person.

Can I request a scenario where dazai and fem reader are hanging out together and suddenly some guy that went out with her once on a bad date sees them and assumes they’re together and is really sad about it and asking for another chance. Like lowkey embarrassing. And dazai is a bit jealous because “why didn’t she tell me she’s been going on dates?”
I just want a little funny Chaos with crushing!dazai.
when dazai has a crush on you - dazai x fem reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: on which the osamu dazai had a massive crush on you; however he has no idea how to go about it and suddenly has an awkward interaction with your ex, who begs for you to get back with him.
a/n: when life gives you motivation, you use it all in one one-shot and never return!!
"what's your favorite ice cream flavor?" he asked you as the two of you were walking down the streets of yokohama. winter was finally here and snow covered what used to be green grass and the clouds were in the shades of grey and white.
"dazai, it's freezing!"
"ah, but that doesn't mean we can't have a special treat!" he grinned, quirking an eyebrow as he waited for a response out of you.
you rolled your eyes with a smile; "if you just have to know!!" you said dramatically, a hand to your chest, "it's pistachio..."
"you basic-"
"HUSH!" you clamped his mouth with your hand, laughing to yourself as he looked at you with a "GIRL WTF-"
"i don't care if calls me a basic bitch, THERE GOOD!!" he held his arms up in defense, "your words not mine!"
you slapped his arm once more as you both kept walking.
"are you going to pay?"
"didn't i tell you? i lost my wallet in the river, it belongs to the frogs now."
"osamu- that was 2 YEARS AGO!!"
"and those frogs MUST have a mansion by now!"
"oh my go-"
"but you, my sweet y/n, you must have some spare change to by your best friend in the whole wide world to get some ice cream for us??????"
he blinked at you with his fingers interlocked with each other and you sighed, shoving his face away from his own.
"i literally hate you..."
"you looooooove me~"
what he said may have been true; we'll, he hoped?
-
"have you ever wondered if atsushi purrs?"
you looked up at dazai; raising an eyebrow as you took a bite of your ice cream. "where does your mind go after work hours?" you shook your head as you chuckled; "wait, I'm serious. like if you scratch behind his ear, does he meow?"
as dazai went on and on about god knows what; you saw a familiar boy stand next to the store of the small ice cream shop...he seemed to be with other boys, around your age, and he was just kinda glancing over at you.
where do you recognize him from?
"are you okay?" dazais voice caused you to look at him quickly, "hm?"
dazai grinned, "something on your mind? is it my, witty charms? my gorgeous vocal cords, or perhaps-"
you shake your head chuckling at just how stupid your best friend is, "no- no, sorry. i just zoned out!"
he nods, not wanting to push further and once again started to talk about random things that popped into his mind.
after a bit, you notice the boy was gone however his friends were still there; you even recognized some of those boys as well. why does it look a little bit like-
"jeezus-"
"what was that?"
"i said "shoeless!"
"Y/N!!!!"
the sudden scream of your name from another man's voice besides dazais caused you both to jump.
you looked to your right, as dazai followed your stare...a boy who rushed over to you with blonde locks and baby blue eyes. he seemed to be in some sort of distress as he got on his knees.
"cody, what are you-"
"i'm so sorry i left you, baby, i was a fool to think i could find someone better!"
dazai was beyond confused as he said nothing but just watch. you glared at the boy who was on his knees; "cody, you cheated on me, and suddenly on your knees begging for me back?"
he nods, grabbing your hands as he looked you in the eye; "you were my everything, and i was stupid to believe i never needed you. I've been a mess without, i've let my hair grow up, i haven't shaved in 8 months, and i'm all alone!!"
"uhm..."
both you and your ex boyfriend looked at dazai who cleared his throat.
"y/n, what ...what is going on?"
before you could respond, cody shouts out; "YOU MOVED ON WITH HIM? what does he have that i don't? oh, OH, your into bandages?"
dazai gave him a "bitch what the fuck" look as he continued; "i can be better then anything he can be to you! i bet he doesn't even know what your favorite ice cream flavor is and got you one you didn't like!!"
"cody, i'm not dating anyone!!!" you blushed furiously, pulling your hand away.
both cody and dazai'a cheeks flushed, however dazai couldn't stop looking at you. 'you can date me' he thought to himself, but was knocked out of his trance as you dragged him away by the arm and said one final goodbye to cody, "your pathetic, cody! leaving me for a bastard who cheated on your ass as well because your a sad, cheating man who has nothing to live for besides eat and sleep all day long! at dazai has a job. you know, your right, he'll be a better boyfriend then you anyday!!"
and with that tou left the weeping man alone with his friends awkwardly standing there, giggling at the incounter that has happened.
as you and dazai got further away, you stopped and sighed. "i'm sorry dazai, that was so awkward! i never thought i'd see him again!" you rubbed your face and looked at the floor, but dazai chuckled and made you look at him.
"it's quite alright, y/n, but...when did you two break up? not that it's any of my buisness, but i had no idea you were even dating!?"
"you seem surprise, you believe a women like me can't pull a lover?"
he froze, "oh-n-no! not at all, i just- you know i just- well you never told-"
you rolled your eyes and punched his arm; "dude i'm kidding!!"
he chuckled, a couple minutes later the two of you decided to walk back home, however he offered to walk you home.
as the lights in yokohama lit up, the moon as set and the streets were quiet.
there was a calm silence as you both walked, the sound of dazais clicking heels caused you to always side eye him and smile. he's never walked you home like this before, he was always so talkative and have something to say.
"did you mean what you said, earlier today?"
ah.
there it was.
"you mean.."
"yeah.."
you smiled to yourself, looking at the floor as you stopped in front of your apartment. "of course i did, i'm sure you would try your hardest to be with the person you love, better then cody!!" you smiled, giving him a hug and waving goodbye.
"bye, dazai! see you at work tomorrow, I better not have to call you again so you won't be late!!" you waved, walking into your apartment.
"goodbye, y/n!" he waved, watching as you entered your apartment and your figure left.
"i love you..."

Let me take care of you
TW: self-harm. Nothing too graphic, but it's there. (A short description of the wounds, that's about it?) So, if you get easily triggered please read carefully.
Word count: 1 800
He opened the door to their dorm, seeing Sirius laying in his bed, he wasn't supposed to be back yet, so it took Remus by surprise. “I thought you had quidditch?” He asked, setting his bag down on the floor, and taking off the cloak.
“Do.”
“And you're here because -?” He asked, but this time didn't get an answer. Something was wrong, though he wasn't sure what it was yet, but he could tell. Remus walked over to the bed, seeing the tear tracks on Sirius' cheeks, they were quite visible even in the dim lighting. He wasn't crying anymore though, he looked like he was sleeping. He sat down on the floor, leaning his head against the bedside table, smiling slightly as Sirius opened his eyes. “What's wrong?”
“N-nothing.”
“Sirius, love, I can tell something is wrong.” he said, reaching to brush a strand of hair behind his ear. “Wanna tell me?”
“Don't feel good.”
“Do you feel ill or-?” Sirius shook his head, eyes tired as he looked at Remus. “Okay. Did something happen?”
“No.”
“That's good, baby.” He smiled softly, trying to figure out what exactly was wrong, maybe it was just a bad day. There was this pained expression on Sirius face, though Remus couldn't quite place what it was or what could be hurting him. “Not feeling up for quidditch?”
Sirius shook his head. “Jamey thinks I'm sick.”
“Okay.” He chuckled, watching as a faint smile flashed on Sirius' face, though it faded quickly. “Talk to me, love?”
Sirius took in a shaky breath, closing his eyes for a moment as if to prevent tears from falling. Then, with the arm that had been folded under his head, he reached for Remus'. He smiled, intertwining their fingers together, rubbing small circles into his wrist with his thumb, waiting for Sirius to speak.
“I'm sorry.”
“Why are you saying sorry, angel?”
“Did somethin’.”
Remus felt his heart sink at the all too familiar situation, dread and worry, but he stayed calm, knowing it would make Sirius mire anxious if he'd panic, and he didn't want that. So, he just reached to wipe away the tear that fell down, being as gentle as he possibly could. “Show me, baby.” Sirius shook his head, more tears spilling out. “Please? M'not mad, never mad. I just wanna make sure you're alright.” he whispered, wiping away more of the tears, shifting so he was sitting on his knees.
“I'm so sorry.”
“Shh, shh, it's okay.” he brushed a strand of hair behind his ear. “Let's get up? Just wanna make sure they're all clean, don't want them to get infected, do we?” Sirius shook his head. “Then we'll have some cuddles, sound good?”
“Chocolate?”
“All the chocolate you want.” Remus smiled, kissing his forehead, getting the smallest of smiles out of the boy. “I should even have a few chocolate frogs left, remember the ones Pete bought for Christmas?”
“Still?”
“I'm not as greedy as you think, baby.” he chuckled, kissing his nose and cheek before getting up from the floor. “Plus, I got a ton of chocolate for Christmas. I got other sweets too, c'mon up love.” he said, taking both of Sirius' hands into his and leading him into the bathroom. “Hop up, darling.”
Sirius did as he was told, hopping up to sit down on the counter, watching as Remus pulled out the muggle med kit he insisted on using, though Sirius didn't mind. He also got out some cotton pads, and a clean towel, kissing Sirius' forehead when he came to stand in front of the boy.
“You have to show me now, okay?” Sirius nodded, looking down, starting to fiddle with his sleeves. “Take your time, baby.” He whispered, brushing his hair back, as he looked at Sirius, who shook his head after a moment. “I can too, if you want me to.”
“Please.” Sirius whispered, looking up at Remus, eyes filling with tears again, threatening to spill over.
“Okay. Don't worry.” he gently rolled up the sleeves of Sirius' jumper, going slowly so Sirius' could stop him if it felt too overwhelming. He winced slightly at the sight, he couldn't make out everything, but small, somewhat deep looking cuts were on both arms, blood slowly dripping down. “We're gonna have to put some bandages on these love, shh, shh, don't cry it's alright. I'm gonna clean them with these first, then with some water, and we'll put bandages on to keep them clean.”
“You have to tell me if it hurts too much.” Sirius nodded, tears falling as he closed his eyes, feeling how Remus started to dab the cotton pads on the deepest looking ones, wiping away blood. Sirius just kept still, keeping his arms where Remus left them, resting on his thighs. He heard the water running after a moment, and he opened his eyes, glancing at Remus, who just wiped away the tears before squeezing the excess water out of the towel.
“You know this is gonna sting a bit, I'm sorry about that, baby.” He whispered softly, waiting for Sirius to nod before starting to clean his arms better, apologizing every time he heard a hurt whimper come from Sirius, going lighter on the next one. “All done with that, love. You did so good. Proud of you.”
“Kiss?”
“You can definitely have a kiss.” He smiled, leaning down to give him a chaste kiss, getting another small smile from him as he leaned back up. “Just one more thing and you'll get another kiss, okay? Maybe even a hug.” Sirius nodded, looking up at Remus through his wet eyelashes, looking tired and still sad, though not as much as before. He gently wrapped his hands up with the bandages. “Not too tight?” He asked, lacing their fingers together when he was done.
Sirius shook his head, looking up at Remus. “Sorry you have to do this.”
“Shh, no, don't be sorry.” He whispered. “All good. I don't have to do anything, you're not making me, are you?” Sirius shook his head. “I want to, baby. Wanna take care of you, if you just let me.” he smiled, helping Sirius down from the counter, who just wrapped his arms around Remus' neck, face pressing into his chest. He did the same, arms wrapping around his waist as he buried his face into Sirius' hair, swaying them just slightly. “Feeling at all better?” he asked after a moment, hand running up and down his back slowly.
“Only ‘cause of you.” He mumbled. Remus smiled to himself, kissing his head. “Don't go.”
“Wasn't planning on that.” he whispered, smiling softly once Sirius looked up at him. “I’m proud of you. So proud.”
“I love you.”
“And I love you.” He leaned down to give him a kiss. “Wanna go to bed?” He nodded, but leaned against Remus rather than moving. “I'm not gonna carry you, love. It's barely fifteen steps, you can make it.”
“Mm no.” He whispered, shaking his head. “Wanted to take care of me.” He grinned, and Remus was just glad there was at least some of his normal cheekiness back. “Please moons.”
“Only this time, baby.” He whispered, kissing his forehead before lifting him up, Sirius' legs wrapping around his waist, clinging on like a koala. He smiled as he was set down onto the bed. “Wanna change into something more comfy?”
“Want your jumper.”
“Okay.” he nodded, going to dig out two of his jumpers, since he definitely wanted to change out of his school uniform. He also dug out the stash of chocolate he kept in there, handing Sirius the jumper before going to the bathroom to clean up the mess he had left before. He changed his jumper while walking back over to Sirius, climbing in bed next to him. Sirius rested his head on Remus' shoulder, shifting so he could curl up to him, feet over his lap, which was nearly impossible to do comfortably in the small bed, but he didn't mind.
“You promised chocolate.”
“I did.” he reached for his bedside table, grabbing the two boxes of chocolate frogs, giving them both to Sirius. “I'm eating the other one, by the way. Which cards are you still missing?”
“Rowena Ravenclaw at least, then I have all the founders.” he said, opening the package, and giving the frog the Remus. “Then some rarer ones I think, I've had such bad luck, never got Ollivander. No luck.” He said as he looked at the card he just got.
“Maybe next time, baby.” He nodded, opening the other one, this time taking the frog for himself, flipping over the card.
“I have like three of her, what the hell.” Remus laughed quietly. “It's unfair Moony. I will slip it into James' deck, he has like ten.”
“And how many of them are actually his?”
“Maybe two.” Sirius smiled, and he laughed again. “ ‘s only fair, he keeps giving me Dumbledore. But I, unlike Jamey, keep track of my cards.”
“Sure you do love.”
“I do.” He said. “Well, at least I notice if cards suddenly appear.”
Remus smiled, grabbing the trash from his lap to set them down on the bedside table. “Do you want more?”
“A bit?” Remus nodded as he grabbed the chocolate bar, opening it and breaking pieces off, few for himself and few for Sirius, then set it back on his bedside table. “Thank you.” he yawned, leaning even closer to Remus.
“Are you tired?” Sirius hummed. “Should we take a little nap? We have time before dinner.”
“Mhm. Don' wanna go.” he mumbled. “So tired.”
“What if we sleep and see what we'll do after? It's not until a few hours, love.” Sirius nodded. “C'mon, let's lay down, you'll be more comfy.”
Remus shifted so he was laying down, smiling as Sirius laid down too, resting his head on Remus' chest, half laying on top of him just because he could. Remus pulled the blanket over them, holding Sirius close.
“Do you wanna talk?” He asked, starting to play with Sirius' hair, Sirius shrugged, hiding more into Remus' chest, starting to draw shapes to his chest to keep his hands busy. “We don't have to, love. But you know it helps.”
“I'm just tired.” He mumbled. “Really overwhelmed. Just a bad day, I guess.”
“Okay.” He whispered, kissing his head. “Anything I can do to help?”
“Just wanna be with you and sleep.” Remus nodded. “Snuggles.”
He chuckled, holding Sirius a little closer, smiling as Sirius reached for his hand, so he intertwined their fingers together. “I'll wake you up in a few hours, okay?”
“Mhm.”
“I love you.” He whispered into Sirius' hair. “Sleep well.”
“Love you too.”
A/N:
Hi :)
Hopefully you liked this, and remember to take care of yourself <3
Also, both James and Sirius would have the biggest chocolate frog card collection, and would mess with each other constantly. (Remus gives all his cards to Sirius, cause why wouldn't he?)
You can't convince me otherwise on this, like no way that didn't happen
Have a good day/night/something, see you around somewhere, maybe?

Chapter 6 of Sofie Plays "Slay the Princess": The Princess and the Hero (Round 2) + The Witch
Gotta experience 'em all!
[ Beginning ] - [ Previous Part ] - [ Next Part ]
Tumblr media
I meant to pick up the blade but misclicked and entered the basement. Even so, we got some new dialogue! Pretty sure I needed to pick up the dagger to get a new Princess, but I might just continue this route for the sake of flavor text :>
Tumblr media
Asked the princess warily what we would do if I couldn't find a key to free her, and she whipped out the "Maybe we could cut me out of them! :)" idea so fast guys I'm having flashbacks,
Tumblr media
THE FLASHBACKS ARE INTENSIFYING
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't worry, Princess! I'm sure we'll figure out a way to get out of GOOD GLORY NOT AGAIN. PRINCESS I HOPED YOU WERE KIDDING ABOUT CUTTING YOURSELF OUT OF THE CHAINS. COULD YOU HAVE WAITED A SECOND UNTIL THE KNIFE POPPED INTO THE ROOM SO THAT IT COULD BE A LITTLE LESS GRUESOME?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*cartoon dog voice* This is fine :)
Tumblr media
Hey, Narrator? What the FRICK do you mean by that? Mister disembodied, no-hands-having, secret-keeping voice? Are you going to drive me mad with constant demands that I kill the Princess? Too bad that I'm not going to. Hopefully you can manipulate the environment somehow to make the basement collapse on us, because I'm not going to hurt---
Tumblr media
... Oh.
Tumblr media
New chapter. I guess.
Tumblr media
I can already tell I don't like my new brain buddy.
Tumblr media
THE MIRROR IS BACK!!!! aaaand it's gone the second I try to clean it. We aren't getting any mirror selfies today.
Oh my worrrrrd Opportunist you sleazy, conniving kiss-up. Ughhhhh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GEE WILLICKERS, NARRATOR IT'S ALMOST AS IF I TELL PEOPLE THE WHOLE TRUTH, UNLIKE CERTAIN CHARACTERS WHO SHALL GO UNNAMED.

At the very least, there isn't any dismemberment involved this time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NARRATOR! THERE'S ANOTHER WEIRD CAT IN THE BASEMENT!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is the achievement title a reference to that fable about the Frog and the Scorpion?
Welp. She's playing chicken. We're stuck down here. I decided to just accept it and wait.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just realizing that the narrator has a capital H when referred to with third person pronouns, and I'm too busy noticing the red at the edges of the screen to consider it for very long.
Tumblr media
Alright. The cabin has vanished around us. Is it time for arms to erupt from the aether and absorb the Witch?
Tumblr media
Huh. Very anti-climactic.
Tumblr media
What the HECK does "you've grown" mean?????
Tumblr media
Okay, okay. the Long Quiet is definitely a location. But I'm not convinced it isn't also a character of sorts. It feels like it has some kind of goal, but I can't tell what.
Tumblr media
It's the start of a new chapter, and I chose to leave the cabin behind me this time. I kept looping back around to the cabin, but surely I got turned around or something in the forest. That's normal. I'll just keep trying.
Tumblr media
THIS IS NO LONGER NORMAL.
Tumblr media
OKAY THEN. SEE YOU IN THE NEXT POST. I GUESS.

I just got the green rain event on my new farm! I'm loving the 1.6 update so far. It's been a tough choice between playing or writing in my free time this week. I'm a little more behind on this chapter than I'd like to admit, but we'll still make it for Sunday, I promise!
Chapter 16 - The Future will be posted on Sunday, Nov 10th.
The excerpt below is fluff, but the fic is explicit - What Friends Are For
“Whoa..” Sebastian looks up from under his umbrella, the two of you ignoring Robin’s warning as the door shuts behind him.
You start jogging towards the lake, unsure what your plans are but giddy with excitement as the rain falls around you. You spin to face him, the hood of your poncho falling off your head. “Pretty cool, hey?” You look up at the rain, letting drops bounce off your face. “It feels like magic. I swear the trees are growing as we speak. I was thinking of going to Rasmodius, but I figured it was better to ask the scientist first.”
“You really don't think it's dangerous?” Sebastian asks as he jogs to meet you.
“Do you?”
“I dunno. It doesn't feel dangerous,” he holds his hand out to feel some drops as you walk towards the shore.
“I trust the animals. Listen to the sounds…the fish are going crazy, the frogs are having a blast…other than the mammals and birds who don't like getting wet, it doesn't seem to bother them at all.”
“Look!!” Sebastian points near your feet. As you follow his gaze, a little green frog jumps on the toe of your rain boot.
“EEE!” You squeak from surprise, followed by delight as you stay as still as possible so it won't jump away.
Sebastian crouches down next to you to get closer, but it hops into the lake as soon as he leans closer.
“I don't want to step on him! Is he gone?” You suspend your foot in the air precariously.
“Yea,” Sebastian laughs, “it's safe.”
“I bet there's more on the islands, come on!” You grab Sebastian’s hand, dragging him towards the centre of the lake. The water level is high with the downpour, making the narrow wooden bridges even more slippery than normal.
“I think I see some!” You drop his hand to balance across the beams, giggling as you make it to the other side.
The two of you follow the loud croaks to a spot on the shore, crouching to get a better view. The green tint over everything makes the frogs camouflage better than usual, but you’re confident this is a hot spot.
“I see tadpoles in the water,” you point to a spot after scanning the shore, but Sebastian is focused on a spot to his left.
He crouches down slowly, hands ready in front of him. You hold your breath in anticipation, and he leaps forward swiftly to try and catch one.
“Did you get it!?” You crouch down beside him.
Sebastian nods at you with a smirk, bringing his cupped hands closer so you can see. He opens them slowly, but the little frog leaps out of his grasp the second it can sense light.
You yelp in surprise, which brings out a laugh in Sebastian you've never heard from him before. It's so pure, so full of joy. His eyes twinkle with childlike wonder. Your heart flutters watching him, your cheeks in a permanent grin.
A flash of red in your peripheral vision snaps your attention away from him. His umbrella starts scurrying away with the wind after being haphazardly forgotten in favour of frog catching hands. You snatch it quickly, nearly falling face first in a puddle.
“You ok?” Sebastian laughs, offering his hand to help you up. He takes the umbrella back once you’re standing, folding it and tucking it away. The two of you are already drenched, there's no point trying to stay dry.
Not that either of you mind. Bad weather and frogs are two of Sebastian's favourite things, and he's having a blast. Sebastian teaches you his frog catching tips, which you implement with little success.
“Did you get that one!?” Sebastian leans close to look over your shoulder.
“No, I felt it though! I'm scared I'm gonna hurt them,” you grin sheepishly.
A loud rumble of thunder vibrates the air, startling you both. The rainfall suddenly worsens to a harsh downpour, the green tint darkening around you.
“Oh shit!” Sebastian uses his hands to shield his view, laughing at the surprise development.
You grab your poncho hood to put it up, but it had collected a tonne of rainwater. Cold water splashes down your back, and you shudder with shock.
“Oh no,” Sebastian stifles laughter, watching your failure.
You burst into laughter, submitting to being absolutely soaked. Sebastian grabs your hand and pulls you towards the tree nearby. He presses his back against the trunk, pulling you close to try and stay somewhat dry.
The two of you catch your breath, chests heaving against each other as you look up at the sky through the shelter of the branches. You meet his eyes as your laughter subsides, and he squeezes you tight. It's cold, and wet, but he looks so happy. You lean in to catch his lips, the eagerly received kiss quickly becoming passionate as the rain drowns out everything else.

ぐちゃ ! (Splat!) [Yoru x F! Reader]
Heya everyone!
This is it, the winner of the vote! I totally didn't spend a few days trying to get the title right. Japanese people, don't come for me!
I kinda wish the Chamber one won (try saying that out loud) because I have so many good ideas for my KING but maybe after this one's done we'll get to him!! I don't blame people for voting for Yoru, though, he's so much more lenient and... just doesn't care, haha.
Anyway, this might be slow at first, what with how avoidant Yoru is, but I promise it gets good. Hope it's a good read!

Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 4.5 / Part 5 / Part 6
Genre: Fluff
Synopsis: Hapless doesn't even begin to describe you. With your life flipped upside down within the span of a day; you're left to rely on your best friend Tala to help you pick up the pieces and build the new one forced upon you. And this 'luck' seems to have caught the attention of one of her friends.
。+❤ฺ·。❤ฺ·。+❤ฺ· +❤·。❤ฺ·。+❤ฺ·
To say you were unlucky would be a grand understatement. To also say this day had an awful start would be stupid, because that implied that your days usually had a good start. And if you were to list off all the things that went wrong, you’d be here for hours. Which is exactly what you and Tala did once your schedules for once aligned, and you met up at a cafe after so long.
Yep, that’s right. You spent hours explaining to her everything that went wrong this week. And with permission, she had a grand time laughing at some of the mishaps that made it look like you were cursed by the gods or something.
Tala caught her breath and lifted her head to meet your gaze, holding back tears.
“Wait, wait– let me get this straight, even with three warnings, your boss didn’t fire you?!”
“No joke, I’m as stumped as you.”
“And you’re also infamous for your misfortune with them! Didn’t you get this job just last week?”
You crossed your arms, smiling.
“I am now!”
“Okay, wait, hear me out– what if you’re really just cursed? Like, maybe you rejected some guy and he paid a witch to cast a spell on you.”
You rolled your eyes.
“Yeah? And Manuel said it’s because I didn’t ask my grandma for a blessing before I left, or I don’t pray hard enough.”
As you spoke, you grabbed your bag and placed it on the table, digging through it to find something.
“And this one time, his girlfriend gave me this to help me with my luck.”
You slammed a block of wood on the table, a splinter flying across the surface. And just the sight of it made Tala burst out in laughter again, quickly wiping away the tears that narrowly escaped. In fact, her previously dazzling pigtails had gotten more and more dishevelled throughout this conversation the more she laughed and struggled to keep herself together. Even people were starting to look.
“I’m scared to open the gift he gave me today. He said it’s supposed to ward off bad spirits–”
“There’s more?!”
You nodded, taking out a small black box and setting it in front of you on the table. This immediately drew her attention away from the wood. In fact, it concerned her.
“Wait, this looks like a… hold on, he wasn’t proposing, was he?”
“He has a girlfriend!”
She giggled, before stretching out the palm of her hand expectantly.
“Hand me that thing, I wanna see.”
“No! What if it’s a prank?”
“And? What’s the worst that could happen, confetti ruins your hair? Very scary.”
She pointed at your messy bob, not as well-kempt as her own hair. And not messy in a flattering way, it looked scruffy. The chaos that followed you ruined your day and your looks, so, at this point, why even bother?
“What if it’s something dangerous? Like, a snake or a spider, and it bites us?”
“Fine, okay, let’s go somewhere where we can open up the box safely. If it’s a frog, it’ll jump out, right?”
You stared at her for a second, then the present once more. The plan didn’t sound as bad. You’d have to open the thing eventually, right? Might as well do it right next to your friend, now.
Then, she grabbed the slab of wood and knocked twice, brows furrowed with a smile. This comforted you, in a way.
“Alright! Somewhere safe… I can do that.”
“Good, let’s go, I don’t have all day!”
She grabbed her drink, then you by the wrist and pulled you out before you could gather all your things. And of course, you left the slab of wood on the table by accident.
❤ฺ·。
You knew what she meant by that final comment. Out of all of your inconveniences, the worst thing that happened was Tala’s sudden disappearance. For months, all contact was lost, and nobody knew where she was. Even when she came back, she’d return for a few hours before disappearing again. Her answer? ‘Work’.
But your mind instinctively focused on something much worse.
“Ow, ease up! My arm!”
She giggled awkwardly, quickly letting go.
“Sorry, I’m used to being rough, you know?”
“You don’t say.”
A red rim formed around your wrist where she held you, and you rubbed it in annoyance. A little more pressure, and she could’ve easily broken your hand. Nevertheless, you continued down the path you both walked down on, your destination being a forest. Or, if you were lucky, some park right around the corner.
“You were so scrawny before you disappeared, Tala. Are you gonna tell me what this ‘job’ is, yet?”
“I don’t want to get in trouble if I do tell you.”
You raised an eyebrow, but couldn’t meet her gaze since she walked faster than you did. But somehow, she felt your concern rising, turning to look at you with an awkward expression. Maybe she should go back to practising how to keep secrets.
“Okay! Hear me out. You’re luckless, yeah? What if your luckless-ness… passes on to me, or whatever, then you discover what my job is by accident.”
That’s also mostly why people avoided associating with you, too, but that’s by the by. With an eye roll, you walked past her up the concrete stairs, making your way down the less dilapidated pathway. She quickly ran up behind you, somehow catching up to you within the blink of an eye. At first, you thought it was unnatural, but you got used to her speed.
“Come on, you can’t tell me the plan isn’t solid!”
“Solid like jelly, Tala. Let’s get this over with, I’m throwing the box away.”
“Lighten up, Y/N. Who knows, maybe this will turn your luck around?”
You slipped the box out of your bag again, walking up a small hill in a park you both entered a while ago. There were groups of people behind you, so you both purposely went to a spot where you’d both be alone.
“Last time I said that, I almost got diagnosed with diabetes!”
“That’s because you’re always freaked out, seriously!”
She stopped and spread out her arms, as if to tell you to observe the area you both found yourself in.
“Look at this park. It’s innocent and stuff. There’s even kids here! But I bet there’s still something scaring you about this place right now, yeah?”
You looked around, the ever so familiar sensation of anxiety creeping up on you, along with many possibilities of your death. But you also don’t want to let her have this win.
“No way, I’m not scared. This place is nice.”
“Okay, open the box.”
You stared at her for a few seconds, before awkwardly giggling.
“Uh… What do you, what do you mean?”
“You’re not scared, right? So, open it!”
Tala gestured to the gift in your hand with an incredibly mischievous expression, watching her point get proven right just by the way your left eye twitched. Then, you looked down at the tiny object, mind running wild with possibilities. If it wasn’t a cobra that would lunge at you, what if it was the hatching eggs of a bug? Like, a roach or something, and it’ll burst all over you if you open it. Worse, what if it’s a bomb? Maybe a smell bomb that would make both of you pass out if you inhale too much. Wait, do those even exist?
You quickly handed it to her before your mind could come up with something else, smiling.
“You’re the muscular one, right? I’ll let you take care of it.”
She stared at you with a raised eyebrow, before rolling her eyes and taking it.
“You’re such a chicken, Y/N.”
“I’m not a chicken! It’s… heightened survival senses.”
Tala laughed, taking a few steps back and opening the box.
“Heightened survival senses?! Did your mom tell you that?”
She absolutely did. Of course she would, your mother would never outright call you spineless to your face. That would be rude… and unlucky.
“Shut up and open it.”
“I did, it’s just some bracelet!”
Tala tossed the object at you, the gold quickly bouncing the moonlight off of it moments before it landed on your hand. And she was right. It was just some bracelet, probably pawned or made up of fake gold. Or something like that.
Putting it on your right wrist, and you quickly sighed in disappointment at a new discovery.
“It doesn’t fit.”
You held up your hand and watched the accessory slide down your arm, dangling on your elbow. Of course, Tala simply gave you a wry smile at such an unlucky revelation. To be fair, the least Manuel could’ve done was get your measurements, but it seemed like he nicked some random bracelet and handed it to you as a joke.
“Look on the bright side, if it’s real gold, you can sell it.”
“Sure, we might even get to split the cash.”
She smiled and grabbed your wrist, fixing the bracelet’s position.
“No way, with your luck? You need the money more than I do. Who knows? Maybe you could invest in a mansion.”
“And then an earthquake comes and destroys the mansion.”
You turned your gaze away and sat on the grass. Well, sat is an elegant word, considering you just plopped on the ground and laid your chin on your hand. Tala noticed this, slowly stepping up and taking a seat right next to you, her eyes on yours. The mood seemed to have shifted, and she clearly got concerned.
“Yo, you’re not pissed about the bracelet, right?”
“Pissed? No way. It’s not that bad. On the bright side, I can use it to strangle Manuel when I see him tomorrow.”
You mocked her way of speech, and earned a giggle from her. Then, you heard buzzing around you, jumping and rapidly looking around. Tala noticed this, getting up alongside you with her ever-so-familiar dismissive eye roll.
“Relax, it’s just a fly.”
Just as she said that, a loud smack echoed through the air around you; and the bug fell onto the grass. You couldn’t help but sneer at this.
“Gross, you kill flies with your hands?”
“Yeah, what about it?”
You met her gaze, still harbouring the disgusted expression. Your friend, on the other hand, quickly got defensive.
“You know what’s even more gross? A fly laying eggs on you!”
“What?”
“That’s right. If you don’t kill it, it’ll land on your head and lay eggs. Then, they’ll be embedded in your skin forever.”
You laughed and jokingly elbowed her.
“That’s so filthy!”
“You’ll become a bug, Y/N! Trust me on that. You’ll grow wings, and big red eyes, and– and…”
She quickly turned her gaze away, putting one hand on her chin as she pondered.
“Hey, what do bugs do again?”
You raised an eyebrow. You weren’t even sure what they could do besides lay eggs and eat faeces, and probably vomit some acid to melt food, but you knew it wasn’t turning humans into one of their own. Then, you winced once you heard another buzzing around you, swatting the fly away. And, even though you were too embarrassed to admit it, you partly believed Tala’s egg theory. You stood up to slap the persistent bug away from you in fear.
“These stupid flies, they’re everywhere! Where are they coming from?!”
Tala simply watched you with a cheeky smile, not bothering to help.
“Hey, maybe they wanna lay eggs on you. Your hair might make a good nest.”
“Help me out?!”
She laughed, sitting with her legs crossed and angling her body towards you. Another fly appeared from nowhere, and they began to buzz around you. And despite your frantic waving, it didn’t help.
“I think I'll just watch. Don’t wanna gross you out.”
You started to grow angrier, the air letting out an audible whoosh as you slapped them away.
And after a few seconds, Tala looked around in concern once she felt something stop around her.
“Gah! Get out of my face, you stupid son of a b–
Then, a loud bang deafened both you and Tala; a strong gust of wind sweeping both of you off your feet. But with unnatural speed, Tala grabbed you and you held each other for safety.
And when you opened your eyes, terror surged through you.

SURVIVING TOGETHER
Tumblr media
Daryl Dixon X f!reader
Chapter 1:Invisible strings
When I moved to Georgia, I didn't expect to be living in Hell. I moved under the impression that I could reinvent myself amongst the peach trees and the southern hospitality. Instead I'm cowering in my van with my dogs, listening to the sound of the end of the world- the sound of the walking dead.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------
I shouldn't have made so much noise. I thought we were safe out in the woods, but each day that goes by is a harsh reminder that nowhere is safe- nowhere. I'm out of breath from running, but my two dogs and I managed to make it to the van without being eaten alive. The only thing is, now the van is surrounded by the dead. The dogs, a five year old husky and his German shepherd little brother, are perfectly still and I try to mimic their silence. The windows are shrouded by curtains that I'm glad I hung yesterday. Maybe if we're quiet, they'll go away? I'm at least hoping that's the case. I'm still trying to learn the rules for these freaks.
Hours pass as I lie low, but the dead persist, their relentless scratching becoming almost rhythmic. Amidst the chorus of frogs and rustling leaves, their dreadful moans are all I can focus on. After a while, the scratching seems to lessen, but there's still at least 5 of them surrounding the van. I'm too tired to care anymore- I'm not going anywhere soon and neither are they, so I finally close my eyes to attempt at least a nap. The peace is fleeting, lasting all of 3 minutes before I can't take it anymore. I fling my eyes open. I guess we'll be here all night.
I sit for what feels like several more hours, thinking about what to do if these freaks aren't gone by morning. I'm about to start forming Plan F, when I feel the dogs start to perk up. I wouldn't pay much attention, if it weren't for their ears frantically swiveling like little satellites. They hear something, and it's not anything dead.
I sit up as much as I can, and try to peek through the corner of the window. About 30 feet away I see two figures hiding behind a couple trees. I watch as they stealthily bob and weave closer- one with a gun, the other with a crossbow. This could either be really bad, or my saving grace. The dogs get restless as the gun shots start to sound. They're being so good, so quiet, but I can feel the anxiety rising up in them.
More gunshots and a few arrows later, the dead are all...well...dead. I quietly grab a rifle I keep under the passenger seat, anticipating the worst. I can hear them now that the freaks aren't making noise. Those figures turn out to be two men- great. I prop the gun against my shoulder and listen as they start to argue.
"Who the hell cares? Let's move on." the shorter one with the crossbow says. "That damn van has somethin' in it. Why else would they be around it like that?" the second man bites back. I freeze. I did not like his tone- this is not going to be good. "The sons a'bitches are stupid. There's nothin' in there." the first man hurls back. I can't make out what the taller one replies, but whatever it was, it irritates his friend. The shorter one stomps over to the truck and I tense with fear and anticipation. Mumbling curses the whole way, he reaches the van and the dogs get into position, waiting for my command. The man puts his hand on the door handle and I place my finger firmly on the trigger. I take a deep breath in and the man rips the door open.
We both freeze, crossbow and rifle pointed at each other. He looks a little surprised, so I'm not sure he really expected to see anything, or anyone, in here- much less two big dogs. The dogs don't growl, which is unusual for them, but their bodies are still stiff with anticipation in case I give the signal to attack.
The man and I just look at each other. I can't read his expression, but he's not making any other move towards me, so I don't make any towards him. An unexpected stillness settles between us. The longer this goes on, the more I'm able to take him in and, quite frankly, he's gorgeous. Not like, Hemsworth brother gorgeous, but like, random stranger you cross paths with at a gas station gorgeous. Hot enough that it momentarily erases the danger I felt before. His eyes, a piercing blue, betray no malice. Men usually trigger some sort of fight or flight response from me, but not this one. I have no idea what makes me feel this way, but he seems...safe? He keeps staring deep into my eyes and I'm ensnared. Silently, he puts one finger to his lips, signaling for me to stay quiet. His steely blue eyes look me and the dogs up and down and he slowly lowers his crossbow. The way he's looking at me is so soft, so gentle. I can't tell what he's thinking, but against my better judgment, I lower my rifle. He looks so deep into my eyes I forget where I am, until, that is, I hear his friend yell "You find anything? What's in there?". I wait for the man to sell me out, but he doesn't. "Nah. Nothin' in here. Just a few empty beer cans" he calls out in the raspiest voice I've ever heard. I swear I even see him smirk a little as he closes the door and joins his friend. I watch out the window in disbelief as he fades into the night. After they're gone, it takes me until almost daybreak to settle back down. My mind races, and I can't stop thinking about it.
I get the feeling that man saved my life.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A few days had passed and, thankfully, I hadn't crossed paths with the men again. That is, until the screaming started. I had been sprawled across the front seats of my van reading a book, my favorite in fact, when the shrill sound echoed amongst the trees. I drop my battered copy of Pride and Prejudice on the floorboard and jolt to a seated position. I was born with a crippling need for peace and justice, so deciding to investigate and potentially solve a problem for someone was a no-brainer. I hop out of the driver's seat and slide the van door open. Gesturing inside, I call for the dogs. Maverick and Kai both leap out of the woods, following my command. They leap in the back of the van and I slide the door shut, then climb back behind the wheel.
With all the echoing, I can't pinpoint the sound of the screams, so I just drive in the general direction. I find a dirt road that seems to be following the path nicely, so I hop onto that. I seem to be getting closer to the cries for help and soon come upon a circular clearing about an acre around. The screams all make sense now, as I gaze upon not just one person, but a whole group of people- the most I've seen since the world was engulfed into madness. Men, women, and even children are huddled back to back in a circle, surrounded by the dead freaks. They're fighting as hard as they can, but they're never going to make it. There's too many of them and they don't have very much to defend themselves with. Desperation is written all over their faces, but for me, this will be cake. I might even have time to read some more before it gets dark.
I drive further into the clearing and stop about 50 yards away. No one even notices me until I get out of the van, which, coincidentally for me right now, is actually a police van that I stole out of the Atlanta P.D. parking garage when everything went down. I've never gotten to use any of the toys inside it, so this will be fun. I slide the back door open and look my sweet boys in the eyes. "If you boys do a good job and help these people I'll give you both some peanut butter." I say, cradling their snouts in my hands. I let them jump down onto the grass and giggle as they wait, tails wagging furiously, for my command. "Alright boys- CAST".
The dogs speed off towards the group in peril as I work on turning the red and blue lights atop the van on. I grab the old iPod I scavenged and plug it up to the van's speaker system. At this point the dogs are running in circles between the scared people and the walkers that surround them. I watch as the people look stunned, but no less scared. I almost giggle to myself, as I think about how shocking the sight must be, but then I notice something. Amongst the group of people is the man with the crossbow. You've got to be kidding me- I haven't run into people in a week, how have I run into this man twice in 4 days?
I guess at this point I owe him one, so I'm filled with an even greater sense of need to help these people. I grab my iPod again and navigate to the first song I see, "American Idiot" by Green Day. I grab the hand held microphone connected to the van's megaphone and call out, "HEY FREAKS! OVER HERE!" I hit play on the song and turn the volume up to the max. It roars across the clearing, causing most of the undead to slowly turn and begin their crawl towards me. "Mav, look back. Kai, come by" I command the dogs, instructing Maverick to catch the stragglers and Kai to keep herding the main group as they limp towards me. I wait until the herd gets about halfway to the van before I turn it around and creep slowly away. The freaks have completely abandoned the frightened group and have eyes only for the flashing lights and music pouring out of the van speakers. Mission accomplished.
"Alright boys. Come here." I use the megaphone to call again. Maverick and Kai race back to the van and leap in through the side door I left open. "Good boys." I praise them. We drive off with the freaks following us, never letting them get too close. I shoot one last look at the group we just successfully saved. Their puzzled expressions amuse me, but I can't help but picture what would have happened if I wasn't there with just the right equipment at just the right time. I used to think the world was scary. Now, it's a living nightmare.
After 30ish minutes of driving the herd away, I decide to lose them and speed up, turning the lights off and the music down. I can't stop thinking about the man with the crossbow. I guess we're even now, but I don't want even. I want to figure him out- I want to be near him. Why do I feel this way? I should just be grateful I've survived another encounter with him and move on, but I have a gut feeling this won't be our last meeting. As I drive I think about his captivating eyes raking my body up and down and how I wish they'd do it again.
Looks like I was right. I do have enough time for another chapter before dark.
—--------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t sleep well last night. Yesterday’s events have been replaying in my head relentlessly. I moved to Georgia to be alone. I wanted that. After everything I had gone through, I just needed space, but now I can’t help thinking about my family back home. Can’t help but wonder if they’re even alive, or if they faced a scene similar to what nearly happened to that group yesterday. Did they have someone looking out for them, too?
I should’ve been there for them. I shouldn’t have left. I’m trying not to beat myself up about it- after all, how was I supposed to know the world was going to end? The isolation is getting to me though- I just want my family back. I dry the tears that have been slowly running down my face for the past hour and look out amongst the woods from the tree I climbed and settled in earlier. I don’t know where the dogs have wandered off to, but I hope they’ve found themselves a rabbit or something. They wouldn’t eat yesterday, no matter how many times I tried to feed them the cans of spam and vienna sausages I had. It's almost like they know I don’t have much food left. I’m not really sure what my gameplan is out here, but I do know I don’t plan on outliving these dogs for very long. With my family being on the other side of the country, these sweet dogs are all I’ve got keeping me going right now.
My pity party is interrupted when I start hearing footsteps. My eyes scan the woods below until I see a man crouched behind a rock and rub my eyes again. I have to be seeing things, because there’s no way I have run into the crossbow man for a third time. I follow his line of sight and see the object of his fascination. It’s a deer, and a beautiful one at that. I watch as he lifts the scope to his eye and takes aim. He’s never going to make that- there’s too many trees, he doesn’t have a good vantage point, and there’s a slight breeze. He settles in, waits a few seconds, and pulls the trigger. His arrow goes soaring towards the animal, but hits a tree about 3 feet from it. “Dammit.” I hear him mutter to himself.
With little to no thought, I decide to do something crazy and aim my rifle at the deer. He’s going to need this deer for his group and I’ve got a perfect view. I line the shot up, take a breath, and pull the trigger. The deer goes down from an absolutely flawless shot, if I do say so myself. I quietly celebrate my success and look down to find the crossbow’d man is not only very surprised, but he’s not alone. I should’ve thought this through a little more.
I count about four men total. “Guess you guys weren’t holding me up after all. Which one of you just shot that?” my mystery man asks. The other three just stare at him. “We were together the whole time and none of us shot anything.” one man wearing a baseball jersey says, very nervously. “Where’s my brother? Must’ve been him then.” he surmises. The man with his shirt tucked in replied in a thick drawl, “He went to piss. Left his gun with us.” They all look at each other perplexed. Wordlessly, they all take up their respective weapons and start scanning around them. Three of them keep their eyesight level, but Crossbow Man starts scanning in the trees above. He must be a hunter. I quietly sigh- I didn’t really consider what might happen after I shot the deer. I guess I’m going to have to do a big reveal before Crossbow Man sees a dark figure in the tree and shoots me down. If I’m going to get shot I’d at least like credit for the deer first.
I grab my backpack I had lodged in between branches, toss my gun on my back, and make the descent. I’m almost completely down before they even hear my movements. They all whirl around and watch me plop on the ground. Only two of them have guns, but they’re both pointed at me, so I put my hands up in surrender. Crossbow Man, however, is looking at me with a mix of wonder and amusement, crossbow dangling at his side.
“Who the hell are you?” the one with the drawl demands. “Hey! It’s Green Day!” baseball jersey laughs. “What the hell are you talking about Glenn?” the same man questions. “She’s the one who saved us yesterday! The girl with the dogs!” Glenn says, getting more excited with every word.
“Why the random acts of kindness? What do you want? Where are the dogs?” the first man rapid fires questions, gun still drawn and taking a step towards me. All valid questions, but I don’t enjoy his vibe. Something about him seems off, but I can’t quite figure out what it is.
“Nothing- I swear. Look, I just saw your friend miss the shot and I had a clear view so I thought I’d help. I know you guys have kids. It’s not a big deal, really. I’ll leave now. The deer is all yo-” I get cut off by two long, low, disembodied growls. Dang it. The boys are back.
The men all jump and look like they’re about to pee themselves. One man even drops his gun. “Eeeeeasy boys. These guys are our friends.” I say to the dogs, still hidden somewhere waiting for their cue to “handle” the situation. “You guys might want to lower your guns, they make the dogs nervous.” I warn.
“Shane, she was up in that tree and we didn’t even know. She could’ve gunned us all down and she didn’t. She saved us yesterday and she didn’t have to. She doesn’t want anything.” Glenn argues. “Just put your gun down before we get mauled.”
“I’m sorry, they’re just protective. They won’t actually hurt you without me giving the order. Boys, heel.” I call, slapping the outside of my thigh gently. Maverick and Kai reveal themselves and heel to my sides, heckles still slightly raised. “I’m leaving now. Shoot me if you must, I guess.” I say, turning around slowly. I take all of three steps before Glenn yells for me to wait. I turn back around to see him whispering something to Shane. He signals for the other two men to join and I wait while they furiously discuss something, Shane still pointing that stupid gun at my torso. It looks like whatever it is, Glenn is winning. I suddenly remember the Crossbow Man, and glance over at him. He’s watching me very closely. My cheeks heat up, and I tear my gaze back towards Shane and Glenn. Shane finally looks at me again, and slowly lowers his gun.
“Glenn over here seems to think you’d be a good addition to our group.” Shane says, clearly irritated. “How’s about you stick around?”
“For what? To be an extra three mouths to feed? If you haven’t noticed, the dogs are a little attached to me. It’d be a package deal.” I counter. Now they’re the ones making me suspicious.
The last man, the one that dropped his gun, finally pipes up, “With a shot like that, you seem like you’d pull your own weight. I’m Jim by the way. What’s your name?”
“...Y/N”, I confess, looking at the three of them. Glenn certainly seems safe. Jim seems alright. I definitely don’t like Shane, but I’m not sure if he’s necessarily dangerous. I look back at the crossbow’d man, still watching me closely, and ask him, “what do you think?”. I can tell the question throws everyone off a bit. He takes a second, looks at the other men, twitches his jaw, then says, “these are good people.”
Good enough for me. I’m about to say as much, when a fifth man emerges from behind the group and says “Well hello Miss. Officer. Fancy seeing you way out here without any of your asshole bodyguards. You still got those handcuffs? Me and you might need those later this fine evening.”
“...MERLE DIXON? You’ve GOT to be kidding me.” I blurt out loud.
“Wait- you know each other?” Glenn asks?
“Unfortunately,” I reply, my voice dripping with disdain, “I hope that doesn’t change your mind.”
Merle waltzes over to me with a shit eating grin, but before he can get anywhere close, both dogs start barking their heads off. He gets the message and backs away, hands up in surrender.
Glenn just smiles, happy as can be, “Nope! You can still come!”
“Cool- I’ll come,” I say as nonchalantly as possible- don’t want to get too excited and make Shane even more suspicious. “My van isn’t far. If you guys work together we can throw the deer in the back and drive it to wherever you guys are staying.”
“You’re not going to help?” Jim says, looking at me.
Hmm. Maybe Jim needs to be on my watch list too. “I shot it? Do I have to do everything?” I throw back at him.
Crossbow Man laughs. I almost forgot he was there, but looking at him again suddenly has me putting the puzzle pieces together. I look at Merle in shock. “Daryl?” I say pointing at the man with the crossbow. “Yes Ma’am. Told you I was the good lookin’ one.” He says. I cannot believe society has collapsed and animated corpses are roaming around feeding on living flesh, yet I have still managed to run into Merle Dixon in the middle of the woods- and to top it all off, the mystery man I’ve been daydreaming about comes from the same gene pool.
Fantastic.

Dungeon Meshi Anime Review, Season 1, Episode 7 review
Another great episode (Kabru!!! Kabru!!!)! Once more I have very little to say except that I liked it. Great animation, great music, great voice acting in both Japanese and English.
No weird anachronisms in the dub script, though I will say there were actually a few lines of dialog pertaining to the plot that were easier to understand in the Japanese subtitles, some nuance got lost in the dub but was clearer in the Japanese, and normally it's been the reverse until now.
A few more thoughts (and possible spoilers) under the cut:
I think they are being a BIT too faithful to the manga at points, they are leaving Laios' nose off and not finishing it a lot in this episode, which is something Kui did a LOT in the early manga and stopped doing later as she got more experience with drawing his character. There's no reason for the anime version's nose to just not get drawn except that they're trying to imitate the manga panels, which I think isn't necessarily great, since the earlier art just wasn't as good as the later art in my opinion.
The character designs in general have been averaged so that the designs overall look closer to Kui's end-of-manga style, so doing early manga style choices with only Laios looks weirdly out of place.
Obviously sometimes the nose is left off for comedic purposes, but it was happening in all kinds of shots in this episode, and it looked like the animators just didn't want to bother.
They cut out elements of Kabru's party's story in order to fit 3 chapters into this episode. Hopefully the missing parts will be included in the future episode when Kabru and his party return, and we'll get to see them interact, since most of the character development they get IN the story happens in those scenes.
If they just completely cut those scenes and don't include them later, it'll leave Kabru and his party really underdeveloped, as well as not telling anime viewers some worldbuilding stuff that would be really nice for them to know.
Though the animation and pacing was generally good, moving so quickly past Senshi's sadness over having to kill Anne felt like a disservice to that plot beat.
Also might have been nice to have a longer moment to focus on Senshi and Marcille bonding, though what they did was adequate.
The fight with the kraken was good, however, the nuance of "we can't attack the kraken because it's under the water and we are on top, and it can hit us from any direction but we can't hit it back" was sort of lost.
This made using waterwalk on the kraken seem to come a bit out of nowhere.
Also the kraken didn't really struggle or move after getting stuck on top of the water, which might have helped show that it wants to stay underwater and being up top like that was bad for it.
Other than that, a really solid episode.
Some predictions for upcoming episodes and adaptation choices:
Next episode will be the Falin flashback and the first undine fight and then following episode the 2nd undine fight + tentacles Then combine the frogs with the dragon planning. Maybe also the necromancy chapter? Or they put that at the beginning of the actual dragon fight episode...
OR
They just do the Falin flashback as fast as possible, and do all the parts of the undine together. So, that'd be 4 chapters in one.

Asian Lost Boys Personal Names!
Personal names tend to vary from culture to culture in terms of usage, but essentially it's someones "Asian name" as opposed to their English name. They're typically used by family members and, on occasion, very close friends because (in my experience) using them is intimate. The characters will still HAVE their English names, but The Lost Boys and family members (the Emersons and the Frogs) will Mostly refer to each other by their personal names.
DISCLAIMER: I'm Taiwanese, therefore I'm more savvy to East Asian cultures, particularly Chinese and Japanese. If anyone who is more knowledgeable about Filipino, Hmong, Thai, Indian, or Vietnamese cultures sees something they want to critique/has more culturally accurate suggestions, I encourage messages/comments/replies!
David: Huang Zhao-Yi
Culture: Taiwanese, of Chinese descent Loose Pronunciation: Hw-ah-ng Sh-ow-yee Surname: Huang, meaning "yellow, to fall through" Personal name: Zhao-Yi, Zhao meaning "bright, luminous" and Yi meaning "happy, joyful, harmony" Notes: I was originally going to name David "Hou Yi" after a mythological Chinese archer because OG Hou Yi destroys 9/10 of the original suns (long story) and there's a version where he and his wife Chang'e become immortal/gods, but there are so many different versions of the story that I decided against it. I also decided that I wanted him to be a Farm Boy™ and naming him after a god seemed a little strange imo.
Paul: Paolo FACUNDO LIWANAG
Culture: Filipino Loose Pronunciation: Pow-low FAK-OON-DO LEE-WAN-AG Personal name: Paolo, meaning "small" Surnames: FACUNDO meaning "talkative", LIWANAG meaning "light" Notes: A lot of Filipino names are Spanish or Italian with biblical roots because of colonization in the 1500s, so I wanted to keep his personal name semi-similar to his English name since it was already biblical. Honestly I could've left it as "Paul" but what's the fun in that? I'm not too sold on his surnames so they might change later and I may try to find a Tagalog name instead for his personal name, we'll see.
Marko: YANG Vam Meej
Culture: White Hmong, from Laos Loose Pronunciation: YANG Va Mae Clan name: YANG, associated with the ram and bear Personal name: Vam Meej, meaning "to prosper, succeed" Notes: Hmong names in particular are a Struggle for me since most of the Hmong people I know are second generation like me and either don't really know their personal names or we're not close enough for me to ask. I am familiar with the concept of clan names though. Marko's name is definitely subject to change in the future (I might pick a clan name more associated with birds just for fun who knows).
Dwayne: Khemkhaeng LUANG
Culture: Thai Loose Pronunciation: Kehm-key-ng LOO-ANG Personal name: Khemkhaeng, meaning "strong" Old personal name: Kasem, meaning "happiness, pure joy" Surname: LUANG, meaning "royal, venerable" Notes: It's common for Thai people to change their names after something either significant or bad happens to them, hence Kasem. I'm only making note of it to alleviate confusion in the event that I decide to do some stuff regarding backstories, no one will refer to him as Kasem otherwise. Also, surnames are still relatively new to Thailand and they were only introduced in the 20th century, so Dwayne gets a shorter surname in comparison to modern Thai surnames (which are required to be unique, hence the longer modern surnames) since I have him and the other boys being born in the 1880s.
Star: Ruchika Chawla
Culture: Indian Loose Pronunciation: Roo-chee-ka Chow-la Personal name: Ruchika, meaning "shining, beautiful, desirous, brilliance" Surname: Chawla, meaning "rice" Notes: I found the name Ruchika and immediately thought of Star ngl, I didn't even consider other names for her. It was like love at first sight. I think a lot of stuff with Star just clicked when I was doing research for her name and design, it just suited her so well. I did have her surname written down wrong in my personal notes so I'm glad I didn't post her character sheet immediately lmao
Laddie: Nino HALILI DEL ROSARIO
Culture: Filipino Loose Pronunciation: Nee-no HA-LEE-LEE DAY ROSE-ARI-O Personal name: Nino, meaning "little boy" Surname: HALILI meaning "successor", DEL ROSARIO meaing "of the rosary" Notes: I went so back and forth on his surnames it's not even funny, but I think I'm happier with Laddie's surnames in comparison to Paul's. "Nino" felt really obvious and clicked really well just like Star's name did, though I did consider a few other names that I don't have written down anywhere. Nino was just superior because he's simply a little guy.
Michael: EMERSON Manh Tien
Culture: Vietnamese Loose Pronunciation: EMERSON Man Tee-en Surname: EMERSON, inherited from white father Middle name: Manh, meaning "first-born" Personal name: Tien, meaning "fairy, celestial being" Notes: I'll be honest, the main contibuting factor behind Michael's personal name was how he was almost named "Moonbeam" during his mom's hippie phase. I have this idea where their dad was white and insisted on using exclusively their English names, and Michael wouldn't initially like his personal name because it feels girly to him anyway, but he'd grow to cherish his name and culture after meeting the lost boys <3
Sam: EMERSON Trong Binh
Culture: Vietnamese Loose Pronunciation: EMERSON Ch-ung Bin Surname: EMERSON, inherited by white father Middle name: Trong, meaning "second-born" Personal name: Binh, meaning "peaceful" Notes: I think overall for the Emerson family I was most concerned with meanings, which wasn't necessarily the case for the boys. Sam is the most peaceful in the sense that he discouraged the Frog brothers from killing Marko, even though he failed. Like Michael, I think his personal name is something that he grows into when he starts making friends, but would use his English name when first coming to Santa Carla.
Lucy: VINH Lan Huong
Culture: Vietnamese Loose Pronunciation: VIN Surname: VINH, meaning "glory" Middle name: Lan, meaning "orchid" Personal name: Huong, meaning "pink rose" Notes: Naming Lucy after flowers just felt right. Let it be known that I have serious beef with hippies, but I feel like she still had a well-intentioned hippie phase and this just adds to it. In Vietnamese culture, women don't change their surnames after marriage (as far as I'm aware) which I think would be a contributing factor in her divorce with her white all-American husband.
Grandpa: VINH Mac Dieu
Culture: Vietnamese Loose Pronunciation: VIN Mac Dee-oo Surname: VINH, meaning "glory" Middle name: Mac, meaning "nothing, nonexistent" Personal name: Dieu, meaning "mysterious, subtle" Notes: Grandpa! Needed! A! Name! He doesn't have one in the original! I'm basically saying he's not subtle about his knowledge of vampires and he's not trying to be subtle, it's just that no one ever asked. I think I tried to pick older-sounding names for him but it's been a little while since I picked these and I don't remember if I'm honest.
Edgar: Kaeru Matsuo
Culture: Japanese Loose Pronunciation: Keh-roo Mat-soo-oh Surname: Kaeru, meaning "frog" Personal name: Matsuo, meaning "pine tree, life" Notes: I named the Frog brothers after the famous Japanese poet Matsuo Basho because their English names remind me of Edgar Allan Poe, so I thought it'd be kind of funny. Matsuo is the surname of the poet, but I felt that Matsuo suited Edgar more than Alan. The surname I picked for the Frogs was obvious, I don't think anything else other than some variation of "frog" would've worked.
Alan: Kaeru Basho
Culture: Japanese Loose Pronunciation: Keh-roo Ba-show Surname: Kaeru, meaning "frog" Personal name: Basho, meaning "banana tree" Notes: Alan got the pen name of Matsuo Basho, who also went by "Sobo" and "Tose". I debated on giving him Matsuo's true given name, which is Kinsaku meaning "to be happy" but Matsuo Basho is better known as Basho and it's much funnier for this very serious 15-16 year old to be named "banana tree".
Sorry if the formatting is weird, I'm trying to make it as reader friendly as possible on account of my own dyslexia. Please let me know if the blocks of text blend in with each other too much lmao
