Don't forget the reason the U.S. is supporting Israel's genocide of Palestine - hell, 90% of the reason they ever get involved into something in the Middle East is for ulterior purposes regarding oil.
That and the Ben Gurion Canal project, which you can learn more about:
Also this short video explaining the canal's significance and full history in summary:
Simply put,
#free palestine#israel is a genocidal state#israel is a terrorist state#fuck america#fuck israel#comic pic is from persepolis btw#which is an autobiography of the author growing up in iran during the iranian revolution#not to mention how the US destabilized iran bc their democratically elected leader was gonna nationalize its oil for iran#and they put someone who would play ball for them in charge#its always about the oil#EVEN IN THE MIDST OF EVERYONE GOING “THE FUTURE ISNT VIABLE W FOSSIL FUELS”#WE SHOULD BE LOOKING FORWARD FOR USING AND TRANSITIONING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES#BUT THE CAPITALISTIC FUCKS WANT MONEY NOW#AT THE EXPENSE OF HUMAN LIVES#THE LIVES OF ARABS AND BROWN PPL INDIGENOUS TO PALESTINE NOTE THAT#aaaaaaand of course the canal#much easier than dealing w egypt#for both israel and america#israel will be onboard w them and they'll have a way of strengthening their grip on the middle east and world economy#this is honestly disgusting and terrifying#egypt#suez canal

today im thinking about malaria in ancient rome.
about the fact that P. falciparum (the most dangerous kind of malaria) was likely endemic at least from the 2nd century BC onward that Galen said semitertian fevers (P. falciparum infections) were more common in Rome than anywhere else in the Roman Empire that the most severe manifestations of P. falciparum (quotidian fevers + cerebral malaria) were most common in babies and young children, an epidemiological observation that indicates the transmission rate of P. falciparum was extremely high in Rome that Quintus Serenus said there was no Latin word for semitertian fevers (they used a transliteration of the Greek, 'hemitritaeos') because "no one, i think, could have named it in our language and mothers would not have wanted to"
#working on my thesis gonna bring down the mood of the whole department#but i feel like i have to honor them#and the thing about malaria that fucks me up is P. falciparum has been around for tens of thousands of years#its not a disease of agriculture like smallpox or of sanitary issues that come with civilization like typhoid#it predates agriculture its been found in the bodies of mummies from ancient egypt and skeletons from ancient greece and rome#there are species-specific plasmodium parasites for gorrillas chimpanzees and humans#which to me indicates there was a plasmodium parasite for every now lost hominid#malaria is the strongest recent evolutionary pressure on the human genome#upwards of 30% of people in some parts of the world are heterozygous for sickle cell anemia#or heterozygous for SE asian ovalocytosis#thus it was more evolutionarily advantageous for 2-3% of all children to die#so about 30% of people could be protected from severe malaria#these mutations take a long time to evolve. parasites take a long time to evolve#there are people who mourned their infants tens of thousands of years ago in languages we will never know with rituals we will never see#and i cant do anything about any of that but i can keep going to the lab every day and trying my best to figure it out#because so many generations of humans stretching back to before we were human could not

Everyone on the program: omg cool mummies!!!
Me, literally holding back tears: they are so far from home. Are their souls scared? Has anyone even offered them bread in the afterlife?
#important to note: some ancient Egyptian tombs contain prayers to give the deceased food in the afterlife meant to be read aloud#we read aloud a prayer (NOT SPELL. I AM AGAINST CALLING IT A SPELL) in my class two years ago#we're going to have a 'discussion' on the ethics of displaying mummies and I had to start taking the anti anxiety meds again so I Do Not Cry#while this happens#god. i can't go into Egyptology#day one on the program and I Know Now. I cannot do it for Various Reasons#I'm still doing classics (Ptolemaic period counts as Classics not egyptology) but I Cannot and Will Not interact with modern Egyptian#bureaucracy#tw death#???#i have no fucking clue what to tag this#it's apparently a controversial opinion to say that Egypt is in Africa#a dutch museum got an exhibit SHUT DOWN for PROMOTING AFROCENTRISM. EGYPT IS IN AFRICA#like this is super cool and very important to my feild of study of museum work in general#but yeahhhh i am Too Passionate and full of Righteous Indignation for egyptology#screaming crying throwing uppppppp#and idet and ruiu aren't even THERE

I saw a dumbfuck post about how the only realistic options are that Palestinians or Israelis commit total genocide (what's going on now stupid?), they keep fighting until another country takes over and treats them both badly, or ~both sides forgive each other~ and how the last one is the only good option, and I wanna break that down but like. Lemme just say realistically immediately after the creation of a Palestinian state what will probably happen is 1) many Israelis will leave because they won't want to live in a state where Palestinians have nominally equal rights, and many of them have been indoctrinated to believe Palestinians are rabid 2) many of the Israelis who do stay will still hold economic privileges over many Palestinians and will as such hold sway in the government alongside Palestinians that have managed to build wealth and the popular resistance leaders that survive to see a Palestinian state
#cipher talk#This is based on what's happened in Algeria and South Africa#Rwanda is also an example to keep in mind regarding 'oh everyone just forgives each other'. Rwanda is currently bombing DRC#Many Israeli politicians have made it clear they have expansionist desires and view Egypt and Lebanon and etc as targets#They have been bombing Lebanon. For decades#I don't think this state of affairs will stay- for things i wouldn't be surprised if a reparations program was instituted in#A free Palestine- there'd certainly be judicial cases about stolen property and homes which would cut into settler equity#Though many Palestine homes simply. Sit unoccupied because the point was depopulation in some cases#It's such a whack take too because many militants have talked about just wanting normal lives#The idea of continuing fighting just to commit genocide against Israelis is not only a distraction from the actual genocide#For many of them it's NONSENSE. Why would they want that when they could just be people again?#During the Al Asqa flood op which regained some territory... not many Israelis died in light of this idea. Because that's not the point#Currently Israel claims 1139 deaths from that operation#And has been revising it down and down. Before now they claimed 1200. Before that they claimed 1400.#As of now they claim 1400 total since October and the Palestinian death count is around 30000 that we know of#Again. There's an actual genocide going on and it's not against Israelis

Emergency: Help save my children's lives
Dear humanity,
I am Habib from Gaza. I am married and have four children: Menna, 12 years old, Adam, 10 years old (suffering from quadriplegia), Maria, 6 years old, and Ezz, one year old. Although they are young, they have survived previous wars, but this current war is the most difficult of all. This is a war of genocide, and the difficulty of the war lies in the inability to meet the needs of my son Adam, who needs special care.
Over the past ten months, we have been caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Our once peaceful home in Khan Yunis has been reduced to rubble, and now we find ourselves displaced in Deir al-Balah, living in squalid conditions in a makeshift tent on the streets. The devastation not only deprived us of our physical shelter, but also destroyed my livelihood - the once thriving business that supported our family's well-being, is now in ruins. The daily struggle for survival is exacerbated by the scarcity of basic necessities such as clean water, adequate sanitation and basic medical supplies
Our home was the place where we found hope and safety, and where we made precious memories. Losing him was like losing years of our lives.
Not only that, they destroyed my source of livelihood, burned it, and demolished it with bulldozers, and today I am without a home and without a job. I was working in a store I owned that met the needs and expenses of my family
Living in tents is miserable. There is a lack of drinking water, hot sun rays, and strange insects that have terrified my children. What hurts me most is my young son Ezz, who I see growing up in an unclean environment and with no healthy food for him. I believe he has not received his right to life.
At this stage, my husband and I decided to go to you and create an account on the Go Fund Me website and ask you to help us in these difficult times until we get out of Gaza, from the land of war to the land of peace. All we need from you is to support us and help us to get out of the war, even if you cannot help. You should spread the word. This campaign is everywhere and among your friends. We thank you for your stance and support for us. Thank you, my friends
The amount that will be collected from this campaign :
We will spend it by paying the amount to coordinate entry through the Rafah land crossing, which connects Gaza to the State of Egypt, since, as I mentioned, they charge an adult $5,000, but depending on the pressures, crises, and waiting, the amount may reach $7,000 per person, and children $2,500 to $4,000.
We will also use it for the rest of the travel and safe transportation expenses to provide for all family members.
A picture of my children's life before the war
A video of my children's lives living the war
May God reward you with all the best and may God bless you
Best wishes with sincere gratitude,
Habib's family

Help Ahmed & Hadeel
My wife @hadeel-ahmed7
Hello everyone, Thank you for reading my story. I'm Ahmed Sadeq, I'm 30 years old, a Palestinian from Gaza.
Before the war, our life was full of happiness, where l worked for on online news newspaper.
I was preparing for my wedding to partner Hadeel which was going to take place in December 2023, I was also preparing our house for us to live in
Afrer the start of the war on Gaza, I lost my job due to constant internet outage.
Unfortunately, I lost the house in which I intended to live with my wife, Hadeel.
I had ro get married without a wedding and lived in modest tent.
We were able to leave Gaza to Egypt, with my wife and elderly parents who suffer from" chronic diseases ", by paying the evacuation cost of $5,000 per person.
Now we all live in one house in a modest neighborhood called Arbaeen in Cairo
How Funds Will Be Used:
Basic Necessities:
your generous donation will go toward help us to pay the house rent and meet our basic needs of food, drink, and clothing, in addition to medicine for my elderly parents in Egypt.
None of us have permanent residency in Egypt and therefore we can't work.
Evacuation fees:
The rest of my family members are in tents in the Al_Mawasi area inside Gaza, and you help them meet their basic needs of food, clothing, and drink.
They live in difficult conditions and are surrounded by insects and snakes.
Reconstruction:
My demolished home and my family's home in Gaza.
Your donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference in helping us, our family, and rebuilding our future. Every contribution will go directly to providing us with the support and resources we need
To get through this difficult time

Help Jamal Shamia family
Jamal Shamia, Iam a criminal lawyer, lam suffering of many diseases hypertension and diabetic mellitus and Muscle spasms and always got shocked and coma .
Unfortunately, I was injured in the war and suffered a very serious injury, which was a blood clot in the hip joint area, which caused him many infections and the infection spread in the area. is currently in Gaza, and my home was destroyed at the beginning of the war. We have lost security and peace. We have witnessed how a single rocket can destroy your entire life, both your past and your future. Our dreams have been shattered. Now the future is unknown and dark. There is no home, no basic life essentials, no job. We are now seeking to leave this country for a life abroad and to obtain security. We estimate our loss to be at least $50,000 to rebuild a home and start our lives anew.
My wife, Mufida, is 62 years old. She traveled before the war to have surgery on her eye alone, and now she is stuck on the Egyptian side. She has no breadwinner and needs many medications and medical supplies.
After that, she suffered a broken hand due to the lack of necessary care for her. I want to collect money to go to her and support her.
Rasha Jamal Shamia and her husband, Khalil Abu Samaan, have two children, Mira and Omar. They have been forced to flee their home in Gaza City and are now living in a tent in Rafah, far from everything they once knew. Their home, their children’s education, and their future—everything is gone. Their days are filled with fear, and their nights bring no rest. The constant sound of bombs haunts them, and they have no way to provide their children with the life they deserve
Ahmad Jamal Shamia resides in Gaza and is a third-year student in dental school. He lost his education due to the devastating war in Gaza. He was studying at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, and his home was destroyed in the war. He is currently suffering from moving from one temporary shelter to another. Ahmad was a diligent, ambitious, and creative student who ranked first in his class. He didn't limit himself to what he learned in university. He attended courses and workshops online with Egyptian doctors to learn more and excel in his field. He always sought excellence and worked hard for it, and he loved helping all students. He now needs money to continue his education, which will cost him a lot of money since he will complete his studies in Egypt.

Help support Reema's academic career and family
This post will no longer be updated, see here instead.
URGENT: We have 281 hours to get Reema registered in university. Done!!!
My other promotion lists
Updated: Sep 22
Update Sep 20: This campaign is NOT done, Reema is waiting for her campaign manager to raise it to $25,000. A short-term goal is CAD $1,800 for a new laptop (including gfm and banking fees), but this is a projected estimate and I'll have a clearer number when I get more details.
Member(s): @reemash46 (shadowbanned), @reema16 (shadowbanned), @reemagaza (Reema), IG: reema_shurr (confirmed hers, see under cut for proof)
Verification: Operation Olive Branch Masterlist #18
Payment methods: Credit/debit, Paypal through my Kofi (Be warned that Paypal takes a cut. I will post proof of donation within 24h under the 'receipts' tag)
Donation match: $5 CAD (see under cut), $5 CAD
Summary: Reema is an evacuated Palestinian studying pharmacy abroad in Egypt and just paid off her tuition. She needs additional funds to care for herself and her family back home.
Current progress:
CAD $ 15,514 20,051 / 25,000
CAD is weak compared to other common currencies. Your donation can go a long way.
Campaign details:
Reema is the cousin of @mohamedabushaban06 (source). A few days ago, I made an emergency promotion to get Mohammed registered for college abroad here (It's not urgent anymore but he can still use support).
She's a 4th (out of 5) year pharmaceutical student currently studying abroad in Egypt after her school in Gaza was destroyed. Pharmacy school is difficult but she has a high average.
She just fundraised enough to pay her tuition for all her remaining schooling (see fund allocation section) and will start her semester on Sep 21, 2024.
The campaign goal was raised to $25,000 and the additional $5,000 will go towards academic needs and Reema's family back in Palestine.
She needs a new laptop after losing her old one.
Fund allocation:
All the original $20k is for paying off all of Reema's remaining schooling. There was a rush to get her from $15k to $20k to pay off her current semester due to banking complications. Her campaign manager was not in Canada until very recently and could not access the funds already in the campaign.
Even now, the manager can only send $1,500 at a time. At the time of writing this (Sep 22), I'm not sure when Reena can access the $15k and she isn't online often because she has the flu.
MISC:
Sep 10: Donation match $5 CAD
Reema on IG confirms the Tumblr is hers

DONT WASH VEGETABLES WITH SOAP JESSICA
jess and i are raising money to help rajaa and her family get out of gaza! tell me in the tags, what is your favorite vegetable that you are NOT washing with soap?
UPDATE: WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL FOR RAJA!!!
im so incredibly proud of the queer community’s ability to step up and organize. i have had so much hope and faith renewed in the power of community and solidarity through this.
i am exhausted but also i am not ready to be done.
jess and i are now targeting a new goal. raja’s sister saja has already crossed the border into egypt but almost the entirety of the rest of raja and saja’s family are still trapped in gaza. there are 9 adults and 12 children including a pregnant mother and a elder diabetic man who need medical attention as soon as possible. the goal they are hoping to reach is €112,000 for everyone to cross safely.
this is so much larger than our previous goal and we are already exhausted and terrified that nothing we do will be enough. but i have renewed faith in my community and i sure as hell am going to keep trying.
if you are able to donate or boost, every little bit helps.
