Y'know it's a shame kettle hats and spears are considered "generic" medieval fantasy stuff, something you'd only see a town guard using. I think kettle hats have potential to look sick if you properly define and exaggerate it. What the character wears under it (usually some kind of chain coif) and how they choose to wear that has a lot of potential for personality.

And for all of you people who (honestly understandably) like armor because it hides the entire face, a chain or fabric coif can do that!

Spears too! They can be wielded with skill just like any other weapon.

Media has ruined 2 of my favorite pieces of equipment and it makes me mad because I know if ever I showed off a character who uses a spear and wore a kettle with a chain coif they would never beat the town guard allegations

We need more cool and kickass warriors who swear by the spear + kettle combo. C'mon.

Random movie idea

So Disney Princess type girl get a boyfriend, and surprises her family by bringing him home. They react with an impromptu song and dance routine each revealing true emotions about this turn of events, somehow all knowing the words and the choreography, and this poor guy is switching rapidly between being absolutely floored by this, and staring around trying to figure out where the music's coming from, before realizing her dad isn't joining in, but rather laughing at him. Eventually he walks over, hands the guy a beer, and says, "yup, no planning, no practice, no discernible music source. If you're lucky they'll do an encore at some point, probably not this one though, anyway just try to join in when you've got the chorus. Welcome to the family kid"

can we talk about how the weirdest part of staticmoth isn't even the fact that they're toxic to each other?

it's how they both react to each other's toxicity with nonchalance.

like. first, during val's tantrum, val throws a glass at vox, or well, in his vicinity.

then vox just... steps away like it's nobody's business, barely bothered by it.

and later, when it's vox's turn to be angry, he roughly pulls val down, shakes him, and shouts at his face.

then val just... shrugs it off.

usually when you think of a toxic relationship, you'd probably think of person A being toxic to person B then person B biting back just as toxic until it's a back and forth of toxicity, a full-blown fight.

but that. that's not staticmoth. staticmoth is fucking weird in that when one is acting toxic towards the other, the other acts nonchalant and doesn't retaliate. then they switch roles on who the toxic one is and who the nonchalant one is.

I am not at all denying the toxicity in their relationship, but they certainly are a really fucking weird brand of toxic that is just. so hard to describe.

Keep up hobbies and skills that make you happy. Stay in touch with friends, make a little community. You can survive and you will. We lived through this once and we live through it again.
