#alkirian#federico rutenberg#flash#this is the other game i mentioned earlier#very different from the other alkirian games and rutenberg's other games in general#but only in that you have an isometric view and a character that walks around.#it's... so completely removed from the other alkirian games#you walk around alkirian? which is a place apparently? with this blond guy#you look for artifacts which are completely different from the ones in other games#we get lore about alkirian and its history and someone called protector of alkirian none of which ever shows up in the other games#just so we're clear this isn't a bad game.#it's alright and the puzzles are alright and maybe even more interesting than in other games by the dev.#and the lore is basic but cool in the basic fantasy way. at least if you like that stuff. which i do.#but it's so far removed from the other alkirian games and doesn't tie into them in any way

Alkirian: The Wind Stone
#alkirian#federico rutenberg#flash#yeahhh this one is pretty much... the previous game rehashed#most of the puzzles are identical... the way to get the stone is identical...#the setting is different and the navigation harder but. it's a rehash.#aaaaand - it's also the end#what is alkirian? what does it have to do with the stones? what do the stones do? why are those people looking for them?#we don't know!#there is a side game of sorts but it doesn't explain anything aside from alkirian being a place. probably.#it just makes things more confusing really#the last game came out over ten years ago#and while rutenberg did release a new ballad of ketinetto after 9 years he doesn't seem to have any intentions of continuing alkirian#shame because there is an idea of a story here. but we'll never know what it was i guess.

Alkirian: The Stone of Fire
#alkirian#federico rutenberg#flash#see what i mean?#the art change is just the tip of the mountain#the numeration is gone#as you can see characters are no longer in the corner. they are right here. there's also more than one character.#the stone is no longer split into parts. it's just one thing you're looking for.#the characters have dialogue - earlier on they were silent aside from the short scenes at the beginning#there are more locations and more classic puzzles as opposed to mostly just looking for places where stuff is hidden#i did like the skull puzzle though!#(previous parts also had puzzles but really. usually it was one puzzle per game)#and while all of that makes the game longer it also made it feel a bit more generic for me...#now not to say the previous games were original. they were not. but there was some charm that's not there anymore.#for the record i felt like this even before playing the dev's other games which. well. often feature some extremely similar things.#also btw we never see the other characters anymore >:( not even the guy who gave them instructions in the opening scenes of the other games#even the old series logo where they appeared is gone.

#alkirian#federico rutenberg#flash#two locations again#unfortunately this is the last game with this artstyle. last game is this *style* in general#i'm... not a fan of the change but i'll talk about it more later#i appreciate the connection of stones and locations though. i didn't say it but water stone was set in venice#and ice stone is set in the mountains#fire stone and wind stone will also fit the places they're hidden#on an unrelated note don't you think the character design in this series is very... 00s 'proper' kid/early teen media?#like the sort that didn't have anything too questionable but was supposed to feel a tiny bit more mature#and was usually focused on adventures of a group of teens solving some quirky mysteries#(i say this despite saying earlier that the first part feels college-like. but well. you know what i mean)

#alkirian#federico rutenberg#flash#ok traditional disclaimer: despite everything i am still not dead#anyway i found this game by total accident lol i scrolled at random saw the name and went 'why not'#it's very fun :) kinda typical point and click more on the easy side but i like that sort of thing#and for some reason the artstyle is very nostalgic to me... makes me think of old textbooks lol#i also like the vibe. just going through the stuff of your pal from college or w/e trying to find his notes thrown in random places. cozy#unfortunately and in a manner typical to that kind of games we only get the most basic info about the plot#and the series never got a resolution#as a note after i found it i spent like two weeks playing through all of rutenberg's games aside from esklavos as i don't know spanish#and this is not the only series of his without a resolution :(#uhhh anyway as you probably figured out we're back in spam era

#alkirian#federico rutenberg#flash#we go to egypt now!!#because of something one of the pages we got in the last game said. still no idea what's alkirian or why we're getting the scepters btw#it's still fun but very easy once you figure out the main mechanic behind the puzzles#also in a true archeological manner there's a lot of dusting off stuff lol#those games are tiny. two rooms and you can beat them in until 10 minutes. might be a flaw or not depends on what you like
