wait do you believe in hell as eternal conscious torment? (im curious bc that debate has been a crux of my own journey w faith & christianity)
I believe in hell as eternal disconnection from God or more precisely as defined by the Catechism a "state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed" (CCC 1033). How that would look like i have no idea but i do know that tearing yourself apart from the one and only source of life, love, happiness, fulfilment, goodness, and everything that is good would absolutely be the worst torment imaginable, or rather well, unimaginable. And i do know God would hate to have His beloved children be in this state. I hope with all my heart that hell is completely empty, i wouldn't wish it upon anyone and i mean anyone
Oh and since you mentioned a debate, can you tell me more about it? Cause i'm not sure what you're refering to and i'd love to learn more! God bless you anon and best wishes for your journey with faith!
#i worry sometimes that i don't do enough to help save my siblings in Christ from hell#sometimes i have this secret tiny hope that at the end of times when God comes to judge the living and the dead#that They will find a way to save souls in hell too#if there are any souls in hell by then that is#i know this could go against free will if the souls have consciously chosen to be damned forever#but maybe there's a way? an impossible illogical way accessible only to God?...#the truth is we have no idea what the eternal life is like and probably all this pondering is non-applicable anyway#yknow i always interpreted God's Judgment on Egypt and its gods in Exodus and killing the firstborns as Him coming to them and just#showing His real divine face like He *almost* did with Moses and saying “I love you. Which God do you want to worship now?”#and i can't imagine them do anything else in this moment than give up their previous “gods” and praise Yahweh#they would ofc die because God's face but they would die most blessed death and see Him and be happy with Him forever#and it gives me hope that maybe He judges other people the same way when they die idk#i'm rambling again#christianity#catholic#ccc#hell

Are you a soldier irl? And what’s your url mean? Thanks :)
No i'm not a soldier, i am however a reservist. I've undergone a physical exam and a general questionnaire to see if i am fit for the military service (it's compulsory for every med grad in Poland). So from what i understood if there ever comes a time of war i will get drafted but most likely as an army doctor (?).
As for my url it's a reversal of a hopeless romantic. Instead i am a hopeful bromantic (as in bromance instead of romance) :D
#i'm a patriot i wanna fight for my country and my people when they need it#but i will NOT kill people i refuse to kill people if i'm on a battlefield i am saving lives not ending them#i fear killing more than death#my God is a God of Life i will not bring death upon others in His name#i really wanted to be a reservist tho because my brother is one too (as a male older than 18 yo) and i will not let that guy go to war alon#i am the brawl in this duo and also imma patch him up so he doesn't die#as for bromance i kinda use it as a gender neutral term it doesn't have to always be between boys#it's more about the vibe. some girls can absolutely achieve it (i can hehe)#thank you for the ask dear son of Mary God bless you!#military#url#🇵🇱#bromance

Hai! You seem like a pretty cool Christian ace person. I’m not sure if I’m on the ace spec myself but I know my friend is aroace. She struggles a lot with people telling her that not getting married is not apart of God’s plan which is sad cause there’s a whole variety of love to show than just romantic/sexual. And I know your content is uplifting to people like her who are ashamed or put down for their asexualism/aromanticism. Keep up your content! God bless! ❤️
Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words, i really appreciate it! ❤️And i agree 100% it's so dumb to put down aspec people and especially for Christians??? Jesus Himself was not married and said that celibacy is a great vocation so what the heck?! He literally said there is no greater love than giving your life up for your friends? Not your spouse not your children but your friends! (John 15, 13 aka probably my favorite verse of the whole Bible)
I'm happy that God can bring you both some comfort through my words. God bless you, too, dear anon, and your lovely friend! You're pretty cool yourself hehe 😎
#tysm anon you made my day! <3#there will maybe come a day when i don't take full days or weeks to reply to asks; this is not that day but a buddy can hope#asexual#aromantic#acearo#christian blog

Demons you say? That's what you call a beloved child of God? The one that errs so much and for this reason alone needs mercy and prayers even more? You should be ashamed of yourself. What prophet ever said "rot in hell" instead of "repent, become holy, and let God save you"? Was Jesus sent to perfect, loving, and God-fearing people? Or to the ones that were ill in their sins and needed a Healer and a Savior? What difference is there between you and John and James who wanted holy fire to rain from the skies on Samaritans? Was the New Commandment "hate those who hate me" or "love your enemies, love each other like I have loved you"? Do you think God appreciates your words?
Daughter of Thunder, roar. Be angry. Fight for justice. Don't let the Lord's name be trampled and disrespected. But never hurt His children. And never try to undo the salvation that God has brought to them.
Idk what this person did. And i don't care. Repent and be better. Who's worse: the person that offends someone because they hate them or the person who proclaims their love for someone and then stabs them in the back? Because if you claim to love Christ but say and wish things like that upon your siblings in Him, dehumanize them to justify your hatred, consciously choose to let wrath override your compassion, then maybe you're not a follower of Christ at all.
Do you even know what hell is?! It's an everlasting separation from God. It's God's worst nightmare. Don't you see you're attacking God more with these words than the person you aimed them at? Do you really want to make Him suffer even more?! Crying that His most beloved child ended up separated from Him forever? Feeling as though His death was in vain?! Shame on you.
Demons like @jasonsbones, who question and highly offend the existence of Jesus, are never allowed to interact in my timeline. Alright? If I see you write stupid things about my faith, I will really manifest for your poor pathetic souls to rot in hell. I know that this is ironic that I pray but wish for bad things to happen to someone. Well, demons deserve it. So, don't trigger me. Words have power.
I'm open to nonbelievers but I will never tolerate people who speak ill of my Saviour.
#i am saying all of this because i love you#i will pray for both you and @jasonsbones#you're a Christian for crying out loud#being the follower of Christ comes with a responsibility#you have to bear witness#who would ever believe you that your God is merciful if you hate others in His name?!#wouldn't it drive people away from Jesus instead of towards Him?! THINK#you're acting like satan themself not like a child of God#you Pharisee#the same goes for every Christian reading this#the same goes for me#loving others is difficult sometimes but it's the only way for us#christianity#jesus#my beloved

I finished it!!! 😃
I only have the midi from MuseScore but i think it's good enough, enjoy:
As long as mj is okay with it of course, i as a composer give you all permission to use the music, print it, sing it, cover it, arrange it for instruments, use it for your church service, post your covers on social media, anything. It's for God's glory, I'm not gonna gatekeep Christian music. Just please send it to me i wanna seeee!
Breakdown and analysis under the cut!
General idea:
Bars 1-5 The revolutionary declaration of faith
Bars 6-9 The suffering
Bars 10-13 The triumph in battle
Bars 14-16 The rest at last
Detailed breakdown:
Okay so a funny thing at the very beginning [Bar 1]: first three or four notes are directly taken from Mitski lol - namely from "My love is mine all mine". I thought it would be fitting to connect those two songs, given the similar incipits and thematic parallels.
So the four voices start unisono (singing the same thing) and then [Bar 2] they split into harmony. It gives a cool effect and it shows how faith enriches your life.
An interesting thing happening in the And mine alone verse [Bars 2-3], because sopranos (a leading voice here) start alone, but just as they sing the word alone they're joined by other voices, counterintuitively. I kinda wanted to show how even when you think you're alone you have a whole Church of people and also God Themself supporting you in your faith.
All the harmonies are very nice and sweet but just as we hit take away [Bar 5] something starts to get dirty, harmonically wise, announcing some peril.
When the peril comes [Bars 6-9], the harmony gets weird, unpleasant, dissonant, mirroring suffering that the lyrics talk about.
Of each drop of blood [Bars 6-7] comes with a staccato (as in hitting the notes rather than sliding across them), rittardando (getting slower), and tenors and basses melodies going down. This of course is word painting (music reflecting the text), musical notes sounding like blood dripping on the ground.
On You'll drag my name throught the cherry-stained mud [Bars 8-9] more dissonance, more suffering, and my oh my - the TRITONE! Okay so a triton (here being D->Ab in sopranos Bar 8 and F->B in altos Bar 9), also known as "diaboli in musica", devil in the music, was a forbidden interval for a big chunk of European musical history, as it went against the rules of music theory at the time. Out of context it sounds weird, scary even. I wanted to use it to underscore the evilness that the hero of the poem undergoes. There's also a downward melody in basses [Bar 8] and an auditory illusion of half- or even quarter-step decent between alto and tenor parts [Bar 9]. That's another instance of word painting, it indicates dragging someone's name through the mud so, well, downwards.
But my soul [Bars 10-11] is a musical dialogue, the voices join one by one from every direction this time going upwards, loud and triumphantly - either saying that we beat the odds and won against our oppressors by surviving, or that we won because even getting martyred, our soul is saved and ascends to Heaven. Basses have a cute imitation of sopranos [Bars 12], the harmony leaves us curious what's next.
And then comes the silent, ending part [Bars 14-16]. If the previous part was triumph in battle for the soul, this last part is finally resting in God's loving embrace, with nothing to worry about anymore.
The last cadence (ending chords) IV->I [Bars 15-16] is one of the most basic ones, called "plagal" or "church" cadence, because it's the most often used one in Catholic liturgy (it's every Amen during mass). I thought it would be fitting for a score about faith.
I think that's all, i hope you like it cause i had a blast composing it! Thank you once again for the poem, God bless you!

Instructions unclear, i don't, i don't actually know which things are basic? There's poetry and sanctity in mundane and universal praise doesn't make anything less worthy of it, quite the contrary usually???
But here are some things that came to my mind:
Breathing - man, taking a deep breath of a cool, fresh, morning air? Feeling it fill your nose and expand your lungs? Smelling the smells with it?! Divine experience love it
Smiling and laughing - one of the best things in life frankly
Seeing and hearing - i cannot decide which is better, the colors! the sounds! Being able to experience even the things that are miles away from you! It's so cool!
A REMINDER!!! TO NOT LET PEOPLE SHAME YOU FOR BEING 'BASIC' OR LIKING 'BASIC' THINGS!!! YOUR PURPOSE ON THIS EARTH IS NOT TO HAVE INTERESTING OPINIONS TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE!!!
#there's many many many many more but those 3 were the first that came into my mind#i hope i did it correctly i tried very much#basic things#i also like things mentioned by prevs!#Jolene and Mariah are awesome#BLUEY!!! <3 <3 <3#kids' shows my beloveds#and the beaches oohhh those are so cool the sea the sand the sunsets and sunrises classic vacation core#but my number one when it comes to nature stuff will always be forests

@catwingsthespatula oh no no, you don't get to hide this lovely tags! this is beautiful!!
To celebrate the feast of St Nicholas this year me and my friends were punching heretics together!
We went to our karate training as usual and then we tried to find a heretic among us. It turned out we were all heretics in one way or another (for example i was a heretic according to the Eastern Orthodox Church) so then we beat each other up! It was so fun, highly recommend! ☺️

Ohh my thank you thank you thank you!!! There are so many of them! I'm gonna read all of it! And then i'm gonna tell you what i think about them!
Also i'm sorry but the "I read this and I thought of you"s and "I felt like this would be something you like"s always get me, and especially when they are spot on 🥺 So rn i'm like:
Hi! What are your favorite Henry Vaughan poems and why? 😃 (Your poetry recs never disappoint hehe!)
Hehehehehe. I am glad you asked. I also have some more poetry recs for you specifically that I thought you'd like so I'll include those as well.
Everybody here is English except for one lollllll. Poetry during 16-17th century England is just simply unparalleled.
Vaughan's poetry
Regeneration (an allegory of the Calvinist view of salvation)
The Retreat
Silence and Stealth of Days (written after the death of his brother)
Corruption
Unprofitableness
The World
They All Are Gone into the World of Light!
The Night: John 3.2
The Waterfall (the water is an emblem of death and restoration of the soul back to it's source)
Cock-Crowing (the poem calls upon the notion of sympathetic attraction between earthly and heavenly bodies, e.g., the cock whose crowing announces the sun's rising because it bears within itself the "seed" of the son. It's an allegory for the soul and it's Maker)
Some more John Donne poetry
Death Be Not Proud
Spit in My Face Ye Jews, and Pierce My Side
Batter My Heart, Three-Personed God (i know you read this already but i adore this lol)
Since She Whom I Loved Hath Paid Her Last Debt (written after his wife's death)
Show Me, Dear Christ, thy Spouse (the ending is w i l d lol. Warning: sort of anti-catholic. Donne was born Catholic during the Catholic persecution and endured many existential crises about it before converting to Protestantism. Very good poem though)
Richard Crashaw. I have a feeling you'll love him. He was part of the Counter-Reformation and is only major English poet to write in the Baroque tradition.
To the Infant Martyrs
On the Wounds of Our Crucified Lord
Luke 11.[27]. Blessed be the paps which Thou hast sucked (read this one a few days ago and thought of you immediately. Spoilers: Mary is sucking Jesus side!!!!)
In the Holy Nativity of Our Lord God: A Hymn Sung as by Shepherds (so. freaking. good!!!!)
The Flaming Heart (haven't read this yet but if you like St. Teresa of Avila this is for you)
Thomas Traherne was a poet lost for many years but is absolutely beautiful in his earnest desire to see heaven on earth by returning to childhood and looking through the eyes of a child
Wonder
On Looking over the Moon
Secular poetry (edit: in hindsight this is just love poetry lol)
Amoret by Henry Vaughan
The Flea by John Donne (the funniest erotic poem i have ever read)
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher Marlowe
The Nymphs Reply to the Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleigh
The Passionate Nymph's Reply to Her Beloved Shepherd by Me!!!!! (this one is technically also religious as well as romantic but wtv)
(^ those 3 need to be read in the listed order)
#poetry#Henry Vaughan#john donne#richard crashaw#Thomas Traherne#Christopher Marlowe#Walter Raleigh#poems of divine romance#that's my new tag for your works hehe#and yes i do love st Therese ☺️#love God so passionately everyone is outraged by your fire and mistakes it for impurity#get pierced by an arrow to the heart (affectionate)#that's how it should be done

Reblog if you will remember this post in 100 years when OP gets canonized
A God who came near and died for love is a God in solidarity with all those who suffer and are oppressed. This is a God who is incarnate in our hands and hearts. The birth of Jesus is a reminder that God is present in our fragility and solidarity and love. We must carry this candle through the dark.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this addition, it's a fascinating read! I love it so much!!!
And it makes so much sense! It is intimacy indeed, just thinking about how physically close you have to be to someone to breathe their breath when talking to them.
It also makes me think of St. Bernard of Clairvaux likening receiving God's Word to a kiss from God, and this adds to the bridal image i had of Moses wearing a veil after speaking with God privately. It makes sense in the context of Exodus 33,11 , too (God speaking to Moses as one speaks to a friend). If i'm not mistaken, it was customary in Israel for male friends to greet each other with a kiss on the mouth so God greeting Moses this way, even if metaphorically, would imply a close and intimate friendship.
More importantly still, as a medic, i can't not be reminded of mouth-to-mouth rescue breaths (nota bene sometimes called "a kiss of life" as well). In fact, God's breath literally representing His life-giving, saving Spirit, many times given to people either spiritually or literally dead (like in Genesis 2,7 , or John 20,22 after the Resurrection, the list goes on), it's such a clear image to me that i kid you not every time i read how Jesus or His Dad breathed on someone in the Bible i automatically imagine it as Them giving a rescue breath
(^ i was imagining them as standing in this scene though)
In other words, i'm totally reading "face to face" as "mouth to mouth" from now on, this is great
No please you don't get it you don't get how heart-wrenchingly sad the golden calf thing was
Remember the conversation right before it? in which God tells Moses all about the ark and the offerings and the tent and the rituals and the garments and the Sabbath? The conversation that everybody thought was boring (fight me. FIGHT me this instant)?
The conversation in which God excitedly says, "Okay Moses, my Love, this is gonna be so great! I will live among you, among my people! I'm so happy!!! So here's the plans I've made while I was up here, you will build me a little house! That I will dwell in! Here's how I want it to look, I thought about the exact measurements and ornaments so you could build it for Me and we can live together! I will be your God and you will be My people and I love you all, I love you so much. And here's what I will eat, here's what I like so you can cook it and we can have meals together! And here's how we'll be spending our holidays together and here's how we will all be dressed, I thought about everything! And, and-"
And suddenly His face drops.
"Moses," He says quietly. "I think you should go back down."
"...Why?" asks Moses, his heart already sinking.
"They've made themselves a new god to worship. They... didn't want Me."
Can you imagine? All this holiest excitement doused, all this going out of His way for the Almighty to be family with humans crushed in one moment when God maybe suddenly realizes He isn't loved back? How heartbroken, how utterly crushed must He have been that the Boundless Love could even think about just killing Their people then and there?
Good thing Moses still couldn't see His face. No human would be able to handle so much sorrow.
#i am *this close* from writing a littany of the Holy Mouth of Jesus#and you made me wanna do it even more now#we already have a Heart one and a Face one and a Blood one and a Wounds one#us Catholics collecting Body Parts like Arthur Lester enjoyers i'm telling ya#christianity#jesus#my beloved#God#Moses#Exodus#bridal theology#st bernard of clairvaux#kiss of God#kiss of life#they're one and the same#rescue breaths#this is your psa to learn and/or recall cpr NOW you'll thank me later

@idylls-of-the-divine-romance Here have some choccy milk and cookies, do you need anything, are you okay? (i am not, fyi. i will never be okay again)
When you first mentioned God being SA victim i nearly cried and then i went to the Mass and couldn't think about anything else. God Themself had to calm me down i was a mess i think i might have screamed at Him? It's a blur. For a moment i went "No, You can't. You can't do this, You hear me? I will NOT let You do this!"
My God, for a moment i understood Lucifer
See, it isn't hard to guess that i find SA the worst fate imaginable, is it? That i would absolutely prefer getting murdered, tortured, burned alive over getting r*ped. And so i've always thought well, God suffered a lot, He got abandoned, He got tortured, He got betrayed, He got killed, but at least, AT LEAST He didn't suffer this. There was my one and only consolation that AT LEAST my Jesus didn't suffer THIS.
How could i be so naïve to think the price of salvation, of showing the fullness of His love would be any less than taking the worst of the worst of the worst upon Himself.
Do you think Jesus remembered it when they tore His clothes off Him? Do you think anyone in the jeering crowd oggled Him, naked and vulnerable?…
Cause you know, i myself have no issue with pain. Heck, if there exists an entirely non-s*xual version of a masochist, i'm it. And death gets romanticized a lot, it is actually a rest after suffering sometimes. But this? This rewires my brain. This finally makes me see it all was a real deal. To undergo something so horrible, to conquer the irreversible. This is beyond me. This escapes my understanding. This really takes a God.
"Do not weep for Me; weep for yourselves and for your children" but i can't, my Lord. I can't. I'm sorry i can't, i can't not grieve after what happened i know You're okay now but i can't let it go i'm so sorry my Love i can't
And He was on the other side of it, too, as outrageous as it sounds. I really believe He took all sin and fault and blame and punishment and guilt upon Himself. I really believe the worst part about Gethsemane and the following day might have been feeling as though He Himself, Perfect Goodness, committed all these sins - including the most heinous acts one doesn't even want to think about.
Including being a r*pist.
On the other hand, it's truly remarkable how He has conquered this. How all of this did not take away His innocence, His purity, His virginity, His trust. How He still invites people to His tree of life as if nothing ever happened (it did. it happened, nothin will ever make it okay, and we must never forget it. He deserves that we don't ever forget)
I hated this interpretation, i kept being in denial, i insisted to myself that you were mistaken and overinterpreted things, but you know what? I can see it now. I can see it. It makes so much sense, in fact it seems it's the only interpretation that makes sense in this narrative. You convinced me and i hate it but you did
Would love to hear you elaborate on God is a SA victim if you’re up for it -Jo blood-is-the-life
Hiii @blood-is-the-life (tagging you so you'll get a notif when I answer). @ray-moo you also wanted to know about this. Also: @prosphoramuncher and @theclonehusband
*sighs* I meant to write this essay about God and androgyny and duality in Genesis 1-3 (which connects into the idea of God as being an sa victim) for a while now. @joanofarcs-stigmata I told you I'd tag you in this essay when I wrote it so here we go.
Okay, so let's start with ha-adam, the human, in Genesis 2. "Then the Yahweh God molded the human, humus from the soil, and breathed into their nostrils the breath of life; and the human became a living being." So there is one human, and as you can tell I side with the interpretation that said human is a hermaphrodite. I don't find in the word "adam" any indication that the human is male, and think rather the pronoun "he" is used just as a default.
Next however, Yahweh looks and "Yahweh God said, 'It is not good for the human to be alone, I shall make them a delivering counterpart. [...] And Yahweh God cast an deep sleep on the human, and they slept, and He took one of their sides and closed over the flesh where it had been, and Yahweh God built the side into a woman and He brought her to the human. And the human said, "This one at last, bone of my bones/and flesh of my flesh,/This one will be called "Woman" for from "Man" she was taken."
So there was 1 human that became 2 humans both man and woman. But then, Genesis 2:24 - the man and woman are married, cling to one another, and become one flesh (@sapphosremains I will respond to your question, but in short: I do believe Adam and Eve had sex in the garden, for the sake of union, pleasure, and expression of love tho not for procreation). So now the 1 that became 2 has become 1 again.
Basically this train of thought then led me to have some admittedly weird thoughts about the tree of life.
So the man and woman are invited to "eat eat" (literally what it says in hebrew lol) from the Tree of Life. Now, because God is the source of all Life, especially Eternal Life, and the Tree of Life gives eternal life to it's consumer, it stands to reason that eating of the Tree of Life is either physically or spiritually (take your pick) taking the wisdom, love, and life-giving presence of The Divine into yourself. Basically the tree is like a proto-Eucharist of sorts. It's communion by consumption. And consummation.
Now here's the weirder part: taking and eating fruit is a very common symbol for sex in the Tanakh, especially in the Song of Songs. The image is typically that of a man "eating" a woman's "fruit", which would put both Adam and Eve in the role, so to speak, of the "man/consumer" and God in the role of the "woman/fruit-giver" (think of like gender as theatre for how this logic works). The reverse is also true though: the point of the tree is to give birth to life inside of the humans, and in that way God is in the role of "man/seed-giver", and the humans are playing the role of "woman/birther".
Focusing on the first image tho, is how we get to the idea that God is a victim of sexual assault. The Tree of Life is not the only tree in the midst of the garden; The Tree of the Knowing of Good and Bad is also there, and since the Garden of Eden is a temple (do not have time to go into rn. Chart here) that means to me that the Tree of the Knowing of Good and Bad is also representative in some way of entering the Holy of Hollies taking of God's divine presence.
Except wrongly. It's like Aaron's sons storming into to God's presence and doing something violate God. But it's also like rape.
Part of the way biblical scholars read the bible is by paying attention to words and language. In Genesis 3 words like "see" and "beautiful/desirable to the eyes/sight as well as "take" and "gave" are all words that get used in similar scenes latter in the narrative. The woman "sees" that the fruit is "beautiful to the eyes" and she "takes" the fruit and "gave" it to her husband.
In Genesis 6 the Sons of God "see" that the daughters of humanity are "beautiful to the eyes" and then they "take" them as wives.
In Genesis 16 Sarai "sees" Hagar her slave girl, "takes" her and "gives" her to her husband. In the following Generation, Leah and Rachel will also "take and give" their slave girls to their husband.
In Genesis 19, it's horrible and the hyperlinks are moreso. There are 2 messengers of Yahweh going into a place that looks like Eden ("the Garden of Yahweh") to rain down fire on the city (the first time fire is mentioned is in Genesis 3 with the 2 cherubim). Incredibly suggestively. They go into Lot's house and all the men in the city, young and old, all the men of the city call out to lot so they can "know" these men (first time "knowledge" shows up is Genesis 2/3 with the Tree and then Genesis 4 with Adam and Eve). By which ofc they mean gang rape. Lot tells them not to do this "ra" thing" (Tree of Tov and Ra, Good and Bad) and offers up his daughters (!!!) instead. Because he is also a horrible guy. Anyway, he tells them to "do to them what is good in your eyes" ("the woman say the fruit was good to the eyes"). The men do not like this. Saying that because Lot is an immigrant he cannot bring justice on them. So they threaten to rape and kill him as well. Thankfully the messengers pull Lot to safety and blind the rapists so they cannot find the door (there is something important about the door but i need to meditate on it). The messengers tell Lot they are going to destroy the city because of "the outcry" which has reached Yahweh ("the outcry" is a reference to Cain's city in Gen 4, and the rape of human women and the violent warrior kings of Genesis 6). So the messengers then "rain down fire from the skies" (same language as the Great Flood which happened because spiritual beings raped human women and had violent children. Now violent human beings are trying to gang rape spiritual beings). After Lot and his daughters escape the city, the duaghters of Lot get him drunk with wine (which is ofc made from fruit) and then rape him (Ham did the same to Noah/Noah's Wife after the Flood).
That was a lot. This literature is incredibly sophisticated and this story is incredibly dense. And dark.
My point here is that one of the main ways the biblical authors talk about the abuse of women, is by using these sets of words: men see that a woman is beautiful to the eyes and take her for themselves. Or a woman sees that her slave girl is beautiful to the eyes and good for childbearing and so they take her and give them to their husbands. Eve and Adam do the same thing. They look at the tree (which I said is God's intimate presence), and then violate God by breaching a boundary that They had laid out. The analogy that came into my head when i first realized that was that of a boyfriend and girlfriend, and the girlfriend wants to wait to have sex, not as in "never" but as in "not yet", but then her boyfriend goes and assaults her. That's the same thing happening in the Garden of Eden before the Tree and why it makes me soooooo mad when people act like God was unjust in her banishment of the humans. All the language used here, is that of rape.
So... yeah. This is poorly written and I probably could've done much better writing this but it does make me very uncomfortable (to put it lightly). But I also think that seeing this in the narrative can be helpful for people who have experience the same thing or something similar. God suffers with her people.
You all owe me a nap and some cookies now lol. God bless <333

Rant incoming!
I hate hate hate with a passion how Advent Calendars are advertised by stores. The whole idea of them is restricting yourself, allowing yourself only one treat per day and having to wait for it, to earn it by patiently waiting and denying yourself for Christ. But ads on TV are all like: "It's about treating yourself! 😉 Every day you give yourself a little gift to appreciate yourself! 😁 It's all about you! You feeling good and comfortable! 😌"
Just, aaargh!! Yes it's good to celebrate and treat yourself sometimes and yes we as a society have such a toxic relationship with work that we have to be reminded about resting and enjoying ourselves. But Advent is NOT a time for that! It's a time for ascesis - which is an equally forgotten and an equally important skill in our society without which the whole treating yourself loses its meaning! It's a time to be less focused on your work, yes, but instead of focusing on yourself in its place, to focus on God and building your relationship with Him. How could they twist this awesome tool and reminder so awfully?!
#brought to you by#your regularly scheduled ranting about the secularization of Jesus' Birthday#guess who went shopping today#happy fricking “birthday without the birthday boy” are you proud of yourself Western world?#the first week of Advent is about hope right and we have nothing to hope for if we're comfortable#this Advent for me is about finally getting angry#when i'm done with it you're going to be calling me Daughter of Thunder#and the birth of God-Man is going to become a revolution it deserves to be#i found my Advent resolution at last#better late than even later#let's punch some heretics together (especially including ourselves whenever we don't reflect Christ's image)#St Nicholas THE REAL GOD-FEARING ST.
#christianity#god#my beloved#moses#been thinking about Moses lately#often do i think how lonely God must've been among His own people#i've heard this interpretation that golden calf wasn't about worshipping another god#it was about worshipping such a warped and unreal image of the real God that it's nothing like Him anymore#which is probably even worse#i see it so much even today it's awful#how lonely must God feel sometimes even despite being a Trinity#He gives His people His whole self and yet no one really understands Him no one really knows Him#but at least Moses did. or at least tried to#they really had something special
