My younger brother got the name I would have gotten had I been a boy.

(Brother after that got the name my mother was peer-pressured into giving him though she still made his middle name the one she wanted him to have).

Random fact: I'm the only one of my parents' kids who doesn't have a Y in my first or middle name. (Brothers both have Ys in their middle names, sister has one in both her middle and first names).

super curious today about how people feel toward the names they might have been given. apparently i used to ask my mom about my “boy name” several times a week and get really sad i couldn’t have both my given name and that name. being trans this is hilarious to me now so wondering

also curious how this intersects with being trans!! i feel like my fixation with it definitely had a lot to do with that, so idk add in tags? if you feel like being trans makes you more/less curious about it

It is my sincerest and unironic belief that we must invest in preserving "old technology." The more we move to a hegemonic, easily-surveilled way of living, the worse we will find this world to be.

Letters, public phones and transport, cash, and so much more are key to ensuring both freedom of movement and information, but also to combat the surveillance state. We need to preserve the ability to both access the world but also to be untraceable. I truly hope more people start to recognize this. It isn't about nostalgia for the past. It is about ensuring that we are actually afforded freedom, from the richest person to the person who lives on the sidewalk.

people being so entranced by imogen's doomed by the narrative rizz but so so so scared and averse to the idea of her actually being doomed by the narrative is really one of those things that just gets me. like *regina george voice* so you agree? parts of the campaign and imogen specifically have been putting out flags for a tragic narrative the entire time (that they then haven't lived up to/undercut repeatedly)? but then they'll argue that the story isn't a tragedy so it's good and fine if an arc or story concludes with no actual consequences and everything's happy and fine. they don't want consequences! they want doomed by the narrative rizz without experiencing any actual dooming! drives me up the wall

Perhaps one of my main flaws is I would rather be a Girl forever and retain my independence than deal with the financial instability of being too gnc in the workplace. To me it feels less offensive to cosplay heteronormativity for 8 hours a day in a place where I am already going to be masking my natural, correct reaction to being around other people 8 hours per day (hissing like a cat) than to be too genderweird and have to move in with other people who will also hate that I am too genderweird. I love how Persephone was build up as secretly a super wrathful goddess (Ares literally calls her "the angriest Goddess in the whole pantheon" aside from Hera) and we get all these glimpses of a possible dark side - and in the end Persephone's "wrath" is just super underwhelming.

Her original Act of Wrath wasn't even actually one. She killed one guy in a daze, then spent the rest of the supposed AOW crying and stumbling around.

When she's the Dread Queen and going up against Kronos she's just super-chill the whole way through, not even a hint of anger there.

And after that the "wrathful" side of Persephone is mostly her having temper tantrums and/or bullying people from the working class who aren't able to fight back.

It is genuinely not surprising that Ashton has such a strong The Gods Are Going To Kill Us take on the situation, given what they specifically have seen and what they have to relate to. They're about two weeks out from 1.) getting done violence onto them by an angel and then 2.) being told they have a bit of a dead thing that the gods tried to kill inside them. Then they go and put a lot of effort into getting that dead scrap to wake up (with disastrous consequences illustrating how incredibly volatile its power is). Then they have their only religious friend blow up in front of them. Then they watch a movie trilogy where the only non-god main character is another earth genasi broken-walking-timebomb whose main purpose on the mission is to explode when the gods need him to. They don't see the Lawbearer weep for her son, they only see the Emissary, a child, crying because he's afraid to die. Then they go to Vasselheim, the city of the gods, and see the corpse of a Titan, the dead thing the gods killed, yanked out of the earth and puppeted by one wannabe god and now desecrated in death by the overconfident followers of all the others. They're making something beautiful out of it, they're living on it, and normally he'd be in favor of that but they don't even know its name. They're building new temples on the corpse of the old world, hollowing it out and starting fresh, and Ashton is a part of that old world. They cannot stop being connected to a power the gods seem to, at best, be willing to weaponize. That would make anyone paranoid; given their background it's impressive that he's not more combative, tbh.

Respectfully how do you watch the Finale, see the obvious point being made about how NOTHING changes in the house despite literally 5 seasons of dynamics changes between characters where they went from roommates to a literal family and be like yeah.

That's what i wanted.

That's what the show was actually about.
