WTF IT'S DECEMBER ALREADY??? this year has flown by.... seriously what the hell.

okay well anyway. so... nanowrimo was a bit of a bust for me. i hadn't really expected to reach 50k, but i had hoped to get a biiiit more done. unfortunately the second half of the month was...not fun for me, so my motivation really tanked.

however! my more important goal this month was to just enjoy writing again since i'd been feeling quite burned out—and i would say i did succeed at that. i started planning a new wip which i'm really excited about, plus i got to rewrite one of my fave arcs of my ya sci-fi book which i had a lot of fun with!! so in that way, i would say i had a successful month and i am feeling a lot more motivated now. :)

that said...i do still have a good chunk of my book left to rewrite. i was really hoping to finish by the end of the year and now of course i only half one more month to do that. *gulps* but, by my calculations, i think i have about 30k left to rewrite aka about 1k per day which is not toooo bad—and if i succeed at that, i should also be able to reach my yearly word count goal. so i am gonna try!!

as has been the case for a long time, i've neglected fic a lot lately and i miss it. :( i did at least wanna go back to revising the last chapter of sylvix dreamscape fic and maybe pass that along to betas by end of december. aaand maybe work on writing/editing some of my other fics if i have time??? but my book is my big priority right now... i'm hoping once i finish this draft, i'll have more time to return to fic again.

NANOWRIMO CHECK IN - DAY 7

What I’m working on: The Adventures of Plum & Cat

Woo! Today I’m very happy to announce that I’ve hit the halfway point for my goal wc! Only 25k more words to go!!

Well, maybe not exactly 25k more words, as I’m sort of expecting this project to go over 50k words in its first draft, and I’d ideally like to have a completed first draft by the end of the month. Which means I’ll probably end up writing more than 50k at the end of the day, but that’s fine. I knew what can of worms I was opening when I started working on this project.

To anyone who’s sent me an ask in the past month or so, and also happens to be reading this, I’m going to try to get the your ask at some point before the end of the month. I promise. I’ll actually even go one step further as to say that I’ll try to get to your ask within the next week or so, but that’s a lot more tentative of a promise than my first one was.

Until tomorrow night, I’ve got work to do.

Speaking of the woods, she could almost swear she remembered hearing something about them at one point. Something she couldn’t help but think was meant to be important. Yet, for whatever reason she couldn’t quite remember what it was she had heard.

It must not be that important, she figured. If she couldn’t even remember it. Yet, for some reason the feeling just kept on nagging at her as they walked along.

The feeling made her uneasy, as she looked around and found nothing even remotely familiar about her surroundings. She’d never really been in woods like these before.

Their parents had never been the overly outdoorsy type, and they had always just sort of followed suit. So, this was really pretty unfamiliar territory to her, and it filled her with a sense of growing dread as she realized she had no idea which way they were going, or even how to get back to where they came from.

She couldn’t admit that to Cat though, not when it would only make him start to panic as well, and she figured at least one of them needed to keep a level head. Stepping around trees and over roots, she tried to calm herself back down. This was fine, it only felt so scary because it was dark. As soon as morning came, she’d be able to see better, and everything would be just fine.

This wasn’t like a fairytale, after all. Where the woods were home to wicked witches or giant wolves, these were just normal old run of the mill woods. And she was going to be fine. They both were.

The effect of her thoughts grew a little weaker when the flashlight began to flicker.

Faintly, she could hear her brother grumbling as he whacked the flashlight against his palm. She, however, was a little distracted by something else.

She hadn’t seen it before the flashlight, and couldn’t see it while the flashlight was shining forwards, but with the flashlight turned away from her she could see it now, perfectly clear. The two glowing dots off in the distance. Staring right back at her.

It was then, with perfect clarity, that she remembered what Aunt Rue had made them promise. She had said to never go into the woods, no matter what.

Hi dear nonie!

As most of you probably know, @averysterekfall​ starts tomorrow! I only have a short fluffy thing for this one. So my favorite scene in it is, well, all of it because there isn’t any other scene 😆 You won’t have to wait long to get this one, it’s coming out tomorrow (if I managed to wrap it up quickly enough, if not, it’s coming Sunday).

I have another project which is probably the next thing I’m going to work on because I’m quite excited about it. It’s hopefully going to feel a little transcendentalist. I have written nothing yet but the story is brewing in me and I know it’s on its way to come out.

 Nothing very precise yet, but the aesthetic of it is coming alive and it’s going to eat my brain if I don’t write it. (yes my writing process is very very weird). It’s probably going to fit for the Winter Fest in january, because there’s a lot of nature vibe to it and feels chilly? This probably doesn’t make any sense outside of my brain but there you go, welcome to the mess. The way I feel it now as it’s brewing is probably a 20k+? I have that same feeling as when  Not A Normal Flavor (23k) was brewing so I kind of expect it to come out the same way.

 Unless I make it happen super quickly and decide to publish it for something else *side-eyes 12 Days of Sterek even though I haven’t signed up (yet)*  or just by itself, you can expect this in January.

I do have another project which is known as my crazy complex thing.  It isn’t on a deadline or anything and as of now doesn’t fit the idea of making it winter-y for the Winter Fest. So it’s just a thing from me to you if it ever comes to life. 

Obviously my favorite scene in it is the moment Derek realizes his connection to Stiles, and you know how sometimes a story is born from that one scene you have in your head, that’s the scene. The scene has a crazy complex backstory though so that’s why it spun out of control.

 I’m not spoiling more than that because it is a crazy complex thing so a little hard to explain. It will most definitely have a projected word count of 50k+ (100k+ if we believe @dearericbittle​ but admittedly, Iris’ writing style is way more wordy than mine, right? I mean, nonie please be on my side on this, 100k is way too scary. And there’s just no way because it’s in Derek’s POV. I like to think of it as a 30k+ which will turn into a 50k+ just like that. Have you read Outrun The Stars ? That’s how it happened, I had planned a 25k, it turned into a 56k because scenes kept coming. I need it to not be too scary going in or i’m going to have too much anxiety to write it especially since there’s a lot of nuances in the emotions I need to get right.

That’s definitely enough to keep me busy for a while, especially since real life is a pain of obligations right now so you know, just trying to get back to something slow and steady in the writing department. I’m just happy writer’s block doesn’t seem to be coming back. Maybe I’m really cured of it and should stop expecting to see its ugly face at my door? idk
