The thing is, it *does* matter. Because the original context was that we tried to make a cake. All of the ingredients were there, butter, flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, vanilla extract.
Everyone who bakes knows that the first three are gonna be the bulk of it. But everyone who bakes *also* knows that you need just a *little* bit of vanilla extract.
So how did we end up with something like 70% of the *do not overuse this* ingredient and almost *no percentage* for the ingredients we needed for the *actual batter*??
Don't blame me, I voted sugar vOv
I've seen a handful of posts now like "WHERE DID VANILLA EXTRACT COME FROM" "i dont understand the vanilla extract meme" "how did you guys make a new meme in a couple hours" like how are you guys not acclimated to this environment yet. you come on, you see a post with vanilla extract and go huh. you scroll a bit and see another. huh? everyone is voting for vanilla extract. it seems to be the new meme. why? it literally does not matter. this is the committing to the bit website now jump on this fucking bandwagon and press the vanilla extract button.

THE FINAL PROBLEM - part 3 of many - part 1 - part 2 - "It was with some surprise, therefore, that I saw him walk into my consulting-room upon the evening of April 24th. It struck me that he was looking even paler and thinner than usual."
This is in the Watson's Sketchbook series!

realized a lot of people probably think sherlock holmes is some logical, melancholy, serious guy. like no he's not, he shook hands with a baby and once let a criminal go because it was christmas time

After studying three of the greats — Holmes, Poirot, Columbo — I have determined that in order to be a popular fictional detective you MUST be autistic you MUST be a nosy bitch and you MUST have a boybestfriend to bounce your theories off of.
‘But op, what about Columbo? Columbo doesn’t have a boybestfriend!’ You fools. His boybestfriend is the murderer.

Funny how in many adaptations Watson carries but never shoots, not even when Sherlock tells him to for 'moral' reasons lol.
Whilst in the novel Watson was shooting anyone and anything Sherlock told him to.

there's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it.

THE DYING DETECTIVE part 2 - part 1 here - Watson, I may have committed too hard to the bit.
This is nearly all canon, yes even including “if you love me”. I did add Holmes saying “bitch” but I think it’s in character. There’s one more part which will come soon!
(This is in the Watsons sketchbook series!)

I have to rant about this part of A Study in Scarlet because... it seems to me that Holmes didn't just discover the hemoglobin test at the moment Stamford and Watson walked in. It seems more like he seized the first opportunity to tell ANYONE. Like he simply couldn't contain his joy and desperately needed to share it with an audience. He actually BOWS after giving Watson a demonstration.
Also... "I found it!" are the first words Watson hears from Holmes. He may as well mean "it" to be Watson. He's found IT: his audience, his best friend, his soul mate. His path in life.
This first interaction sets the pattern for their entire relationship: Holmes performing for the best and most high-value audience one could hope for while Watson gets front row tickets to the greatest show on earth. Five stars.
