Let's start with the Smiling Critters shall we

Character descriptions under cut

Luan: Luan is a quiet cat. No matter what, you will always see him smile and it's often hard to tell his emotions behind that smile. Except for Cyrus. Luan and Cyrus are very close to eachother and love eachother very much. Luan is the watcher of the Playtime Co Factory, who keeps an eye out on everything going on. He makes sure that everything is doing alright and nothing bad is happening. He is willing to lend a hand too. Tho he is the last person you want to get mad.

Cyrus: Cyrus is the serious but yet kind-hearted leader of the Smiling Critters. Despite his serious look, he is actually quite the sweetheart and won’t hesitate to be there for someone. He makes sure that everyone in Playcare is safe and no danger is lurking in the shadows. He is also very close to Luan and loves him very much. So even with his angry and serious expression, don’t hesitate to talk to him. He won’t bite unless necessary.

Melora: Melora is a determined pig. She was determined that she and her friends will be free from this nightmare, she was determined that she is going to get better and she is now determined that everything will stay happy and safe as they are. She is the cook and the one taking care of the food supplies. Melora knows a lot about food and cooking and how to make the tastiest dishes even with just very few ingredients. She is also a great listener to her friends. Melora is there when you need someone to talk to.

Roshan: Roshan is a focused elephant. He is also the smart one in the group, just like his cartoon version Bubba Bubbaphant. Tho he doesn’t like it to be reminded of that. He doesn’t hate Bubba Bubbaphant, no, it just reminds him of unpleasant memories. He is also the one who cares for the Critters, even if he doesn’t show it. Roshan is responsible for the Files in this place and working alongside Ollie. So he knows a lot more then the other Critters. Not everything tho, the Files about his friends is one example. Informations that feel like he shouldn’t know about. He already knows to much.

Karah: Karah is a optimistic rabbit and quite sporty. She does her best to see the best in everything. Tho she can put up a fight when necessary. She is also best buddies with Aster. Whatever it is, these two are up to something. Karah is responsible with carrying stuff to anywhere it needs to go. She learned her lesson tho to not carry multiple things at once. That cannot end well. So if you need anything to be carried from point A to point B, Karah is the bunny to do that.

Aster: Aster is the self-proclaimed cool chicken. He is pretty chill and has a laid-back personality. That doesn’t mean tho he isn’t ready to take action when he has to. He is also best buddies with Karah. These two are always up to something. Aster is also very good at repairing stuff. He can fix anything physical and bring it back to it’s working self. So if you need something to be fixed, just go to Aster. He will help you.

Cordelia: The sweetheart of the group. Cordelia is the most sweetest person you could meet. Always kind and caring. She is afterall the Nurse and Therapist. If you have any problems, physically or mentally, then Cordelia is the bear to go to. She will make sure you'll be back on your feet in no time. Tho keep in mind that she will scold you if your injury was the aftermath of a reckless cause. Cordelia is always ready and there to give her friends a hug aswell, no matter the time! She also likes to sew as a little hobby.

Lillian: Lillian is the shy but yet sweet and kind unicorn. She might be shy at first but over time she will warm up to you and you'll find out that she is actually quite a lovely unicorn. Lillian job is to look after the little Smiling Critters plush as they are quite similar to little kids and it's probably for the best that someone keeps an eye on them. Lillian takes care of them like they are the children from daycare and enjoys every day with them.

I woke to the sweet sun and the sound of the birds singing outside my window, I jumped out of bed and ran to my wardrobe. I opened the wardrobe doors up wide and searched through my various clothes, I got my panties on, I jumped into my brown leather trousers, I shoved my feet into my brown boots, I grabbed one of my white shirts slipped it on, I shoved on my grey beige cotton dress as I knew I'd never get off the house without it, even if I had cut the skirt of the dress to the front was only six inches long and the back down to my knees, I threw on my leather corset and laced it up tightly. I put my hair in a braid and ran downstairs as I did, I bolted across the house as quickly as I could to the kitchen door. 

"My lady-" The maid Lillian said, as she stood at the table preparing for lunch already in her white and grey dress her hair pinned up by her little hairband, 

"Going out. Bye." I snapped as I bolted out the kitchen door,

"But my lady your father needs to see you!" she yelled as she followed me out the door,

"I'll see him when I get home!" I called back as I ran across the courtyard gravel into the stable, I ran to my horse Ester and quickly threw my saddle on her and got up, I kicked her with my boots and we both rode off out the stables and out the courtyard as Lillian ran out shouting my name. 

I ignored her as I headed across the vast green mores, I bounced on Ester's back as we rode through the grass, woods, and small stone roads at times leapt over small stone walls and wooden fences. Until I arrived at the little grey barn, I tied Ester up so she could drink.

I jumped down and went inside the barn, Immediately I saw the barn set up with small wooden pens where sheep sat with their lambs a few were yet to have their lambs so sat in wait for them to arrive. I spotted the figure in his brown trousers, boots, and dirty white shirt with his sleeves rolled up and various tools on his belt, He cleaned his hands in a bucket hung on the fences, dried them on his shirt and then ran a hand through his hair. 

"Did I miss it!" I yelled bolted over and wrapped my arms around him

"Ahh! Y/n!" Newt chuckled, "No, no you didn't miss it." He laughed as he pushed my hands off him and turned to face me and took my hands, "Sallianne hasn't had her Lamb," 

"Yay!" I smiled as I stood my boots on the bottom of the fence and my elbows on the top, I looked inside at the hay and straw and Sallianne the sheep lay as she waited for her lamb to arrive, her body a sweet and fluffy from yesterdays bath her little black curls. "I was so worried I missed it,"

"You know I'd come to get you as soon as she starts showing signs Y/n," he chuckled as he leant on the fence beside me, 

"But you shouldn't leave you need to be here for all the little lambs," 

"I have time to come up and tell you y/n," 

"Nope, you need to stay here. I like riding out every day," 

"If you're sure," he rolled his eyes, 

"Besides it gives Ester a ride out." I shrug, "And I get to see you,"

"You're dad still keeping you locked up," he raised an eyebrow, 

"Trying to," I sighed, "He needs to talk to me when I get home..."

"I take it you'll stay for dinner then?" He chuckled, 

"Can I?"

"Of course, you're always welcome to stay for dinner," he smiled, "you okay staying with the girls till I get back?"

"Course I shall be the most virulent of shepherd's assistants!" 

"Shepherd's Assistant? Uhh how about Sheep Watcher," He laughs, "Temporary Sheep Watcher." He warns, 

"Sheep Watcher!" I yelled excitedly, "I am the sheep watcher!"

"Yes, you are the sheep watcher," he laughed, "I'll be back in a bit and if you get bored Selina lost her lamb so she probably needs a good cuddle," 

"Awww poor Selina!" I cooed looking over to Selina's little pen where she lay, 

"Right see you in a bit, I'll be back with dinner," He smiled,

"Okay, Bye Newt!" I smiled

"Bye Y/n," He chuckled heading off out of the barn,

"Right, my first task of Sheep Watcher! Cuddles!" I bolted across the barn and hoped the fence into Selina's pen and cuddled the poor sheep, 

After a good day of helping Newt in the barn and assisting with the lambs and sheep, I headed home knowing I was going to be yelled at. I tied Ester in the stable in the sunset and headed inside seeing the house mostly prepared for everyone to head to bed, so I tried to sneak up the stairs to my room before I-

"Young Lady." My father's voice bombed through the hall, 

"Daddy!" I turned quickly and brushed some hay and dirt off my clothes, as he stood in his suit with his arms crossed, "Hello,"

He walked me to his office without a word and I knew I was going to get it, the fire burning as he leant on his desk, "Where may I ask have you been?" he glared,

"In my room. All day. I uhh just went down for a snack."

"Y/n don't lie to me." He warned, "I told Lillian I needed to see you, and then she came to me and told me you'd bolted off on Ester. So? Where have you been all day?"

"... Will you be mad?"

"I'm already mad so just tell me."

"...Out."

"Out where."

"...Helping in the Lambing barn with Newt." I answered sheepishly twisting my toes into the wooden floor, 

"Y/n!"

"What!?"

"Across the Moores! Down in some dirty Barn! dealing with livestock! with some shepherd's son!" He yelled, 

"I was just -"

"Such things are unbecoming of a young lady!" He yelled, "You are my daughter, you are the lady of this whole county, why must you insist on embarrassing our family!"

"How am I embarrassing anyone!?"

"What if someone saw you? Out dressed like that!" He said, "Riding across the Moores down to some peasant farm, think of the talk."

"Ohh for - Do you not trust me?"

"Trust you!" he yelled, "Y/n I barely know you anymore, how can you expect me to trust you? And then you go riding off, dressed like that, without a word where you're going, off to spend time in some lambing barn with a common boy! How am I to know to trust you? How am I even to know of your virtue,"

"My Virtue? do you really think so little of me?"

"Yes, I Do." He snapped, "How do I know what you have told me is not a lie? How am I to know that this... 'helping' in the lambing barn, doesn't really mean my little lady of a daughter hasn't been riding off to some dirty barn to be tossed in the hay like a common whore girl by this peasant boy!"

"Ohh for- no!" I yelled, "Like newt doesn't know you'd have his cock off before he even thought about it."

"So He's thought about it!" He screamed,

"No! I have no idea! who knows what newt thinks about!"

"You swear your virtue remains?"

"I swear." I nodded,

"Fine..." he sighed, "But this is to end, you are not to go riding off without a word, You are to wear proper clothes and you are to ask before you go out do you understand me?"

"Yes daddy,"

"Good. And ready yourself he'll be here in two weeks," He said going to sit in his chair,

"What? who?" I asked,

"Lord Janson. You are to be married as soon as he arrives."

"WHAT!" I screamed,

"Y/n! I will have no more about it! You are to be married! you have delayed it all long enough."

"But him! lord Janson! he's twice my age! and his home is weeks away!"

"I know..."

"I do not want to marry him!"

"You. Must. Marry." He yelled, "You must marry before your birthday. I do not give a rat's ass who to. But you will be married."

"But I-"

"So... either you marry lord Janson when he arrives. Or you bring me another man willing to marry you immediately."

"But dadd-"

Millions are gathering to witness the first televised royal wedding. It's sure to be a fairytale nuptial.

As the final guests make their way into the Cathedral, we notice some significant royal representatives. such as HRH Princess Elenor of Albion @thealbionroyals, TM King Alexandrina I and TRH Grand Princess Frederick Harrington of Esha @crownsofesha, HM Queen Beatriz and HM Mother Rowena of Uspana @nexility-sims, and TM King Johnathan and Queen Elizabeth of Corrilea @theroyalsofcorrilea.

The following royal representatives arrive TRH Earl Thomas and Countess Lillian of Hereford @stthomaspalace, TRH Crown Prince William lll and Duchess Katherine of Simdonia @bridgeportbritt, and TRH Prince Ezra and Princess Gabriela, The Prince and Princess of Westburg @trentonsimblr.

And the final royal representatives have arrived TM King Frederick and Queen Elenore of Elthonia @miyuzarry, HIM King Everette III, HRH Princess Lorraine of Iona @funkyllama, and TRH Crown Prince Otto and Crown Princess Roa of San Sequoia @hrh-the-royals.

Escorted by her father Zander Thurston, the bride travels from Renard Palace to Queen María's Cathedral for her marriage to Crown Prince Ethan.

As the bride makes her way into the Cathedral we see Crown Prince Ethan and his best man Diego Olson waiting patiently at the altar.

The beautiful bride wearing a satin dress with lace sleeves is making her way up to the altar with her bridesmaids, flower girl and pageboy's following behind.

The bridal party features Eliana Thurston, Maliyah and Malakai Thurston, Lady Bridgette Houser Jones, HRH Prince Colin of Irenda, Adrianna Thurston, and HRH Prince William III of Simdonia.

The wedding ceremony was performed by Lionel, Eye of Jacob as he gives his sermon and blesses the couple with the watchers' blessing.

{Eye of Jacob} As you embark on your journey together, there are three important blessings from the Watcher that you must receive. Firstly, you shall be granted The Watcher's Absolution, which will absolve you of any past sins and allow you to move forward together without any hindrance.

{ Eye of Jacob} Secondly, you shall be granted the Watcher's touch, which will protect the holy union that you are creating here today. Lastly, you shall be granted the Watcher's Blessing, which will assure you that the Watcher loves and cherishes you both individually and as a couple, and will always be with you.

{Eye of Jacob} It is now time for you to declare your intention in front of the Watcher and all who have gathered here today, as you have received Jacob's Trilogy of Praise. Ethan, will you take Andrea Everly Thurston as your lawfully wedded wife?

{Ethan} I do.

{Eye of Jacob} Andrea, do you take Ethan Alexander David George to be your lawfully wedded husband?

The newlywed couple are seeing breaking away from tradition as they share a kiss during the ceremony.

The newlywed couple can be seen giving an expression of respect to TM King Andrew and Queen Anne.

The crowds cheer as the newlyweds walk out of the Cathedral to the carriage where they make their journey back to Renard Palace for the reception.

The royals begin a new tradition by appearing on the balcony of the Palace to wave to the millions of Whitmorians as their way of making their people feel included on their big day.

On this day, the newlyweds started a new tradition by sharing a public kiss on the balcony, something the royals had never done before.

Some tried to position the encampments as legitimate student protests and balkedat the mere use of the term “outside agitators.” In reality, pro-terror activist groups like Within Our Lifetime (WOL) urged outsiders to support the encampments even if they were not allowed inside the university gates and played a pivotal role in organizing the protests and in their escalation.

Prominent anti-Israel activists made numerous and vocal appearances at the Columbia encampments. Among those instigating the crowds were WOL leaders Nerdeen Kiswani and Rohaan Gill.

Anti-Israel public figure Cornel West literally jumped a fence in order to spread his message of support. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) made an appearance with her daughter, who was arrested for trespassing at the Columbia encampment and subsequently suspended from Barnard College (Columbia’s sister school). At the encampment, Omar made the outrageous statement, “People don’t care about the fact that all Jewish kids should be kept safe…we should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they are pro-genocide or anti-genocide.”

Other outside activists who participated in the encampments

Lisa Fithian, a professional agitator, was arguably the highest-profile personality directing the protests at Columbia. Fithian was captured on film leading the break-in to Hamilton Hall. Her participation warranted mentions in Politicoand The New York Times. 

Lillian House - According to the Columbia Spectator, House was one of the protest leaders at the university from the start of the encampments. House was arrested several times across the United States. When asked by Fox News about the atrocities of October 7, she backed away from the camera and refused to discuss whether she thought the atrocities were a false narrative.  

Nicquel Holmes, a recruitment assistant for The City University of New York (CUNY), was captured on video by Project Veritas outside the gate of Columbia. Using the name Luna, Holmes described her duties as an encampment “cop watcher” for WOL, which she said meant “[keeping] tabs on what [the police are] doing.” In the video, Holmes also asserts that Zionist Jews are responsible for 9/11. Her social media is filled with antisemitic and anti-Israel content, including a video of Louis Farrakhan talking about “the satanic Jews that control everything” and a song with the lyrics, “Israel’s a bitch.” 

Chris Smalls, a labor organizer and anti-Israel activist, spoke at the encampment connecting the labor movement to the war in Gaza. On October 13, 2023, he posted on X, “The people united will never be defeated so yes it’s Free Palestine because we’re not Free until we’re all Free from the river to the Sea!”

Zaid Jaloudi, an activist from Hatem Bazian’s antisemitic organization American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), was filmed speaking in front of Columbia. His speech included antisemitic and anti-Israel tropes, including accusations of ethnic cleansing, genocide and white supremacy on Israel’s part.

Let's Talk About Lily

You know, I've done headcanons about Lilith and Caleb, but I haven't really done any about Lily. Let's fix that, shall we?

Lily was born to Artesia's sister, Leila. She and Lilith were both named in honor of their grandmother, Lillian.

Leila had struggled for many years with infertility, before she finally gave birth to Lily. She never had any more children, however.

Lily grew up in the Foundry Cove area of Willow Creek, a few blocks away from where her cousins lived. Her parents weren't as well-off as her aunt and uncle, but at the same time, they always had enough. Their mothers spent a lot of time together, as they were fairly close in age and had shared a bedroom growing up, so they were always close. (They also felt like they had a lot of "catching up" to do after the time Artesia was trapped as a "paint slave" in someone's basement.)

Like her cousins, and like many Sims in Willow Creek at the time, she was raised as a Worshipper of the Watcher. Sundays always entailed meeting up with Uncle Edward and Aunt Artesia for worship service, and then going to their house for dinner.

She loves tea, and her favorite thing to do as a child was have tea parties with her cousins and her favorite toys, Blarfy the Bear and Mrs. Meowness. When Leila passed away, Lily inherited her favorite tea set.

When she was a teen, she noticed Lilith going down a dark path, out of rebellion against Edward. That troubled her; she was afraid her cousin would get in trouble...not only with her parents, but with the angry and vengeful Watcher they were always warned about. Unlike Lilith, Lily did her level best to stay on (what she was told was) the straight and narrow. She never drank, never smoked pot (she does now, but only to soothe age-related aches and pains), never got a tattoo, never "messed around" with boys, never flirted with men old enough to be her father, never sassed her parents, never snuck out to parties, never stole lipstick from the drugstore, never played with Ouija boards or tarot cards.

She had moved to Henford-On-Bagley in the interim between the loss of her parents, and her turning into a werewolf. She had always wanted to live there; Willow Creek was nice, but she longed for that quiet cottage life in the Bramblewood.

As a young girl, she found the Sylvan Glade, and took her cousins there.

Lily was always pressured to get married to a man and have kids of her own, but she is a demisexual lesbian. She didn't have a relationship (or a woohoo) with another woman until after her parents, and her aunt and uncle, passed away. She met someone at the Gnome's Arms (she doesn't drink, but they have excellent cottage pie), and soon enough, they were engaged. That relationship didn't survive her becoming a werewolf, and since being a werewolf with uncontrolled fury makes relationships hard, she hasn't been involved with anyone long-term since. She watched her former fiancee get married to someone else right at the location their wedding was supposed to be. (At the time, she couldn't commiserate with Agnes Crumplebottom, as she was still married to her now-ex-husband, Roberto.)

Despite feeling unwelcome in Willow Creek, she visits her parents' graves at night frequently. Sometimes, she even sleeps in the graveyard, curled up by her mother's headstone.

She had been helping to care for Caleb in the aftermath of The Incident With Miss Hell, and had picked up a "vampire" scent that most other Sims cannot perceive. Which is why Greg attacked her unprovoked while she was hiding from Vlad. She saw Vlad for who he really was, but was unable to warn her cousin about him.

After she became a werewolf, she met with her cousins for tea, but she was in fury mode, as it was a full moon. Everything was bothering her, including that "vampire" smell they now had. The last straw was when Caleb cleared the table, but took the dishes up to the upstairs bathroom. She transformed with a terrifying howl, and chased her two cousins, the only family she had left, and the people she loved the most away, and her mother's tea set was destroyed in the process. When she turned back into a "normal" human the next morning, she regretted it like nothing else. She tried to apologize to them, but by that time, they had left Willow Creek and moved to Forgotten Hollow, and she couldn't bring herself to step foot in there. She eventually met Kristopher Volkov and joined his werewolf cult pack in Moonwood Mill, after he showed her how to lean into her gardening skill and control her fury. She also took the Immortal Wolf ability, in the hopes of eventually reuniting with her cousins, but by the time she was able to do so, she was already an Elder.

Hagar Lillian Fleming came into our lives so quiet we'd thought we'd lost her so quick! But praise the Watcher, her lungs are strong and built in his image and she came through! My 8th little miracle from God! She now is such a lively baby and Candance is taking to her so well! I swear, girls always have a natural instinct for motherhood, such a shame the culture tries to snuff it out of them.

Influential Black Women in History Framed Portraits

Black History Month Special. Set of framed portraits featuring just a handful of amazing influential Black women throughout history.

I was inspired to make this after watching The Watcher’s Puppet History episode on Bessie Coleman. Watch it for yourself here.  I was both angry and sad that I had never heard of this woman at all - ever. So I decided to make this portrait set featuring Black women who did extraordinary things that I don’t think the majority of people have ever heard of. This is why I didn’t include more well-known figures such as Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, or Michelle Obama - everybody knows who they are and I wanted to broadened everyone’s knowledge just as mine was when I did my research. The only woman here that I knew of was Marsha P. Johnson.

Phillis Wheatley (1753 - 1784) Taken from her native Gambia, she was brought to Boston in the mid-18th century and enslaved to the family of John Wheatley as a domestic. Aware of her intelligence, the Wheatley's taught her how to read and write. She eventually became a well-known poet in both New England and England, with her work "An Elegiac Poem, on the Death of that Celebrated Divine, and Eminent Servant of Jesus Christ, the Reverend and Learned George Whitefield," celebrated on both sides of the Atlantic. (Chicago Tribune)

Fannie Barrier Williams (1855 - 1944) She was an influential educator and activist who was a staunch advocate for freed slaves in the South. She spoke at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, expressing her concern over the lack of Blacks on the Board of Control for that cultural event. She helped found organizations such as the National League of Colored Women, the National Association of Colored Women, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She also supported women's suffrage and in 1907, was the only African-American chosen to eulogize Susan B. Anthony at the 1907 National American Women Suffrage Association convention. Maria 'Molly' Baldwin (1856 - 1922) She was a teacher and civic leader in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She became master of the Agassiz School, a public school for middle-class white children, in 1916. She was one of only two women masters in Cambridge schools and the only African-American in New England with that distinction. During Baldwin's tenure, the Agassiz School was considered one of the best in Cambridge. The 12 teachers who served under her were all white. (Chicago Tribune)

Lillian Parker Thomas (1866 - 1917) She gained a reputation as an effective collaborator and organizer while working as a journalist for the Indianapolis News, where she was the first African-American to write a regular column. Thomas used her contacts and influence at the newspaper to further the cause of racial equality. She was also involved in the founding of the Woman's Improvement Club, which helped African-Americans get health care. (Chicago Tribune)

Madam C.J. Walker (1867 - 1919) Before Mary Kay, there was Madam C.J. Walker. Walker is widely regarded as one of the first ever self-made American female millionaires. She created hair-care solutions and remedies with Black women in mind and sold them door-to-door. She eventually created a brand people recognized, widely manufactured her products, and hired 40,000 ambassadors since the company's inception to help her sell her products. (Teen Vogue)

Mary McLeod Bethune (1875 - 1955) After struggling to go to school and working on a plantation to help support her family, she became an educator and, in 1904, founded the Daytona Educational and Industrial Institute for Girls. Her educational activism and leadership set her up to be a political activist. She went on to found the National Council of Negro Women, and worked in Franklin D. Roosevelt's administration, where she served as the informal "race leader at large." (Teen Vogue)

Nannie Helen Burroughs (1879 - 1961) Born to former slaves in Virginia, she was a leading educator, feminist, and suffragist in the Washington, D.C., area. After she was rebuffed for a teaching job in the Washington, D.C., school system, Burroughs founded a school for girls and women, the National Training School for Women and Girls, in 1909. She served as the school's president until her death in 1961. (Chicago Tribune)

Lyda D. Newman (about 1885 - unknown) She gravitated toward a career involving the hair-care industry. Newman got a patent for her invention, the first synthetic hairbrush, in 1898. Her innovation allowed for easier access to the bristles in order to clean out the brush. In addition, she introduced synthetic bristles. Before her invention, brushes used animal hair, such as a boar’s. Her invention made brushing long locks a more hygienic process. (Teen Vogue)

Bessie Coleman (1892 - 1926) She was the first African-American woman and first Native American to hold a pilot license and was the first Black person to earn an international pilot's license. She then became a high-profile pilot doing notoriously dangerous air shows in the United States. She was popularly known as “Queen Bess” and “Brave Bessie”, and hoped to start a school for African-American fliers. Her pioneering role was an inspiration to early pilots and to the African-American and Native American communities. (Wikipedia)

Daisy Bates (1914 - 1999) She an American civil rights activist, publisher, journalist, and lecturer who played a leading role in the Little Rock Integration Crisis of 1957. As the leader of the NAACP branch in Arkansas, Bates guided and advised the nine students, known as the Little Rock Nine, when they attempted to enroll in 1957 at Little Rock Central High School, a previously all-white institution. Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915 - 1973) She is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Her flamboyance, skill, and showmanship on the newly electrified guitar played a vital role in the conception of Rock & Roll as a genre of music. She gained popularity in the 1930s and 1940s with her gospel recordings, characterized by a unique mixture of spiritual lyrics and electric guitar. She was the first great recording star of gospel music, and was among the first gospel musicians to appeal to rhythm and blues and rock and roll audiences, later being referred to as "the original soul sister" and "the Godmother of rock and roll". She influenced early rock-and-roll musicians including Little Richard, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Eric Clapton. Tharpe was a pioneer in her guitar technique; she was among the first popular recording artists to use heavy distortion on her electric guitar, presaging the rise of electric blues. Katherine Johnson (1918 - 2020) She was profiled in the film “Hidden Figures” as a NASA mathematician whose trajectory calculations helped astronaut Alan Shepard become the first American in space. Her skills were crucial in calculating orbital equations that led to the success of astronaut John Glenn’s Friendship 7 mission in which he orbited the Earth successfully. Johnson also was a pathfinder in her native West Virginia, where she was among the first African-Americans to integrate West Virginia University. (Chicago Tribune)

Shirley Chisholm (1924 - 2005) She made history by being the first Black woman elected to Congress in 1968. She served as a representative from New York for 14 years, advocating for early education and child welfare policies. She eventually ran for president as a Democrat in the 1972 race, becoming the first Black candidate to run for a major party nomination. Chisholm's infamous campaign slogan was “unbought and unbossed." She was also one of the founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus in 1971, as well as the Congressional Women's Caucus in 1977. (Teen Vogue)

Audre Lorde (1934 - 1992) This lesbian, Black, female poet’s 1973 collection, “From a Land Where Other People Live”, was nominated for a National Book Award and increased America’s awareness of intersectionality of race, gender, and class that can put particular groups at a disadvantage or lead to discrimination. Lorde’s identity shaped her speeches and writings about the struggles of women, Black people, and the LGBTQ community. (Teen Vogue)

Claudette Colvin (1939 - present) Though we've all heard the story of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat on the bus in Montgomery, Alabama, most of us don't know that Colvin did the same thing — nine months before Parks did. She was only 15 at the time, and was one of the first Black activists to openly challenge the law. (Teen Vogue)

Angela Davis (1944 - present) She was a major activist in the late 1960s and early '70s. Profoundly affected by her childhood in the segregated city of Birmingham, Alabama, she joined the Communist Party and became an affiliate of the Black Panthers as a young woman, and ran as the Communist vice-presidential candidate in 1980 and 1984. She was arrested, tried, and acquitted for her role in a Black Panther courtroom shootout. She went on to have a distinguished academic career at institutions including Pomona College, Rutgers, and Vassar, and has remained politically active. (Chicago Tribune)

Marsha P. Johnson (1945 - 1992) She was a Black transgender woman and activist most known for her involvement with the Stonewall Inn riots — a 1969 uprising against police brutality by New York City's LGBTQ community. Johnson went on to become a prominent voice in the fight for LGBTQ equality and was an activist during the 1980s AIDS epidemic. (Teen Vogue)

Mae Jemison (1956 - present) She was the first Black woman admitted to the astronaut training program, in 1987. In 1992, she became the first Black woman to fly to space on the space shuttle Endeavour. (Teen Vogue)

Gen 1 families overview

Now that the gen 2 kids are starting to get older, I'm going to stop focusing on the gen 1 kids and will probably remove them from my game. However, i am going to talk about how they are doing and where im leaving them. Just FYI, I don't let my non heir sims have more than 6 kids even if they are quiverfull. Bye gen 1

Carley's family

(First up is Carley and Trent they have 6 kids because I don't let non heirs have more than that, but if they could, they would have much more. All of their kids, but one will be fundie. Their 3 oldest kids are married, and they feel very self righteous about how watcherly their kids are. Trent is now a junior pastor at their church, and they are very comfortable for a fundie family.)

Asher's family

(Asher and Roxana are doing great they have had minimal contact with Asher's more fundie family since Esther's phone call all those years ago, and they couldn't be happier. They have very stable teaching jobs in Evergreen Harbor and a great church that they attend. Their daughter Emma recently graduated from BU with a business degree, and she is getting her real estate license. Sadly, their dog Emma 2 passed sometime while Emma was in college, and they miss her dearly.)

Rebecca's Family

(Rebecca and Annabel are still enjoying life in San My but are now looking for a move to del sol valley for Annabel's beginning acting career. They are still madly in love with each other and can't wait to see where life takes them next. Rebecca has also begun writing a series of romance novels that audiences are loving.)

Leah's family

(Leah and Ismael live relatively average fundie lives in their little community in Sulani. After some consideration, they decided to just have 2 children. Little do they know that Kaylie is getting more and more annoyed with her upbringing and that on top of realizing she likes women. She is already planning her escape when she goes to college. They don't have to worry about little Sophia though. She is already buying into the fundie plan and will give them no problems.)

Malachi Family

(Malachi has been doing great he and a couple of buddies have opened a gym in the spice district, and it's doing very well. He and his long-term girlfriend Kari are doing great, and they have started looking at rings together.)

Dayton's Family

(Dayton and Denise are chilling they are slightly more religious than Asher but still not fundie. Denise works a simple desk job at a company that does business or something. Dayton makes canoes and sells them at various craft shows. Jett, their oldest, attends a watcherly private school, and the younger ones are in public school. Virtually none of their 4 kids will have much to do with religion, and they will be pretty ok with that)

Beck's Family

(Beck and Everly are living a strict life as junior pastors at Oasis Springs. first church of watcher and poor Everly is miserable all ready. They have 4 kids right now, but they would definitely have more in the future. And thanks to the crazy strict household, none of their kids are getting out of fundie land...yay)

Isobel's Family

(Isobel is loving her life. Lillian has been such an easy kid and is so funny. Isobel does freelance hairstyling and has a simstagram for her business, and Damien works for his dad insurance company. They still live in a mansion in Del Sol and are so happy that Rebecca and Annabel might be moving there)

So I've been thinking about it and decided to have COTV!Howdy be in a poly relationship with six kids (two from each wife)

So alongside Charlotte and Ethan, these are Howdy and his spouses' kids:

Kai Pillmoor: He's withdrawn and seems intimidating but is very sweet and shy. His shyness makes it hard for him to open up to others. He's also mute so that doesn't help him at all. Age: 12

Lillian Pillmoor: While sweet to those she likes, she's manipulative and bullies/is mean to those she doesn't. She loves fashion and making things. She even helps Scarlett make the costumes for her plays. She will use her abilities both out of malice and to protect someone else. Her parents are the only ones who can calm her down. Age: 10

Priya Pillmoor: A goth artist and people watcher. She's very observant and will put 'curses' on those she doesn't like but gives her artwork and/or a protective charm to those she does like. Age: 13

Zane Pillmoor: Very, very shy and timid. He prefers to just stick with the people he knows. Likes soft things and stuffed animals. He tends to bite things like a teething puppy so he has chew toys. Age: 3

The Senate is nearly 20 percent vacant after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau allowed some seats in the upper chamber to go unfilled, in some instances for years at a time. Of the 105 seats in the upper house, 17 are unoccupied, and some provinces—most of them west of Quebec—have been left without the representation they are entitled to under the Constitution. Four more senators are slated to retire in the next year when they hit the mandatory retirement age of 75.

The Senate has not had a full complement of senators since late 2018, which means fewer senators to carry out duties, like proposing new laws or making amendments to government legislation. Under the Constitution, the Governor General appoints individuals to the Senate. By convention, senators are appointed on the advice of the prime minister.

Former B.C. Conservative senator Richard Neufeld retired 965 days ago, and the government still hasn't found someone qualified to take his place. That leaves just five senators in the upper house to represent the third most populous province and its 5.3 million people. Nova Scotia has also been waiting a long time for a full contingent of senators to represent its interests in Parliament—former Conservative senator Tom McInnis retired in April 2020.

Lillian Dyck, a former member of the Progressive Senate Group, was forced into mandatory retirement 673 days ago, and her replacement has yet to be named. Other seats in Alberta, Manitoba, and Newfoundland, and Labrador have been vacant for more than 500 days. There are five vacant seats in Ontario, leaving only 19 senators on hand to represent the 15 million people in federal matters. Two of the four seats are empty.

In fact, it's been nearly a year since Trudeau named anyone to the Red Chamber, with the last batch of Liberal appointees being named in July 2021. The only province that is fully represented in Quebec, as all 24 of its Senate seats are currently occupied. Paul Thomas is a professor emeritus of political studies at the University of Manitoba and a Senate watcher. In an interview with CBC News, Thomas said the growing vacancy list shows the government has little regard for the upper house and its work.

"It contributes to the impression that the Senate is an embarrassment—that it lacks legitimacy." "It seems the decision-makers in government do not seem to care; it is unimportant in their eyes, and they are not getting around to finding people to serve," Thomas said. "To have this many vacancies at one time means you weaken the performance, and it cannot do the job the constitution assigns it to do or it cannot do it well." This neglect impairs our ability to function and think clearly about legislation.

Quebec Sen. Marc Gold, the government representative and Trudeau's point man in the Senate was not available for an interview. Quebec Sen. Raymonde Saint-Germain, the "facilitator" or leader of the Independent Senators Group, the largest group and one that is mostly composed of Trudeau appointees, said the prolonged vacancies have not had any meaningful effect on the ability to represent every region of the country, but she is hopeful the prime minister will name new members soon.

"I think it is important that those seats are filled on time. "I trust the prime minister will recommend some names to the governor that will obviously be welcomed," she said in an interview.

"There is a lot of work to do, and we need to share this work among the greatest number of possible members." "Right now, it is not an optimal situation," she added. When the Liberal government was first elected in 2015, it promised to rid the Senate of partisanship by ending the decades-old Liberal and Conservative duopoly in the upper house.

The government said it would only appoint "independent" senators who are, in theory, non-partisan. Some of the picks have a history of Liberal Party membership and donations, while others were political neophytes plucked from academia, business, or the charitable sector.

The Liberal changes, which were enacted after years of scandal in the Red Chamber, were designed to make Senate appointees less beholden to the prime minister of the day, transforming the place into a sort of council of elders. To that end, the government appointed an independent advisory board of distinguished Canadians to help the prime minister make his Senate picks.

The Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments oversees the process. The board is made up of five members. Three of those members are permanent federal employees. The remaining two spots on the board are held by provincial representatives, who change depending on which province or territory is getting a new senator. Provincial board representatives have standing equal to that of federal permanent members, and all provincial members are hand-picked by the federal government, which has been a source of tension in the past.

A spokesperson for the Privy Council Office, the department of government that serves the prime minister and cabinet, and the branch responsible for the Senate appointments process, said appointments will be made "in due course." "Work is continuing to establish the independent advisory board for Senate appointments. "Provinces and territories have had the opportunity to participate by recommending individuals from their jurisdictions to serve," Pierre-Alain Bujold said.

"Once the advisory board is established, they will decide when to start reviewing applications, and updates will be posted on their website," he said. By dismantling the old patronage system whereby senators were often plucked from the partisan ranks, the Liberal government has farmed the work out to bureaucrats, who move much slower than party bosses, Thomas said.

"Everyone seems to think the quality of the appointees has gone up, but I don't think they anticipated there would be this logjam, this failure to fill vacancies," he said. "When you're in third place and you throw out some fresh ideas, you may not think through all the consequences of maintaining this somewhat elaborate process," Thomas said, referring to the 2015 campaign promise to overhaul the appointment process. "It wasn't given deep thought or consideration."

While Trudeau has been slow to name new senators in recent months, after nearly seven years in power, his reforms have fundamentally changed how the place operates. The push for more independence has resulted in a major splintering, and many senators no longer fit neatly into a Liberal or Conservative caucus.

There's a hodgepodge of groups and caucuses including the ISG, which houses many of the picks; the Canadian Senators Group, a right-leaning group that counts some former Conservative senators among its ranks; the Progressive Senate Group, a collection of left-leaning senators; the Conservative Party of Canada caucus, which is still affiliated with Tory MPs in the House of Commons; and the "non-affiliated," a group of seven senators that isn't attached to any one group or caucus.

If it can see her, she can see it.

Until now.

Something is watching her, but no one is there. There is just an empty space that is next to both her friends, closer to Ava than to Aeria. There is something that should be there, but it is not there.

The empty space she is observing is moving towards her - or maybe it is more accurate to say that she is observing a spot that is closer to her. And then all of a sudden, she no longer sees the spot.

It has stopped watching her.

How strange.

The entire time, she never acknowledged the watcher. After all, if it can see her, she can see it. She does not need her physical eyes to do so. They are better for acknowledging the tangible things anyway.

She glances over at an affronted Aeria with Ava's reply. The unspoken question of 'Were they done?'.

"Yup! We're done! Totally done!" Aeria said in a hasty tone, "I am totally not saying this cause there's something creepy around!" The girl exaggeratedly scans the dressing room hub before adding, "I mean we got everything we could from this store. And since Ava likes scarves and shawls, I know a place too that is definitely not hau-"

"And Lillian is not allowed to say otherwise!" the blonde said as soon as she started pulling out her tablet.

Putting the tablet back and seeing as they were done, she begins stacking the large pile of clothes 1-by-1 onto her head, carefully laying them as flat as she could. Several sets of uniforms. Casual clothes. And hats. Lots of hats. She could probably carry a bunch of them with her mouth. But no one likes it when she does that, especially food.

As she waddled away over to the counter, she could hear Aeria speak to Ava.

"Eh, you're fine," Aeria said with a shrug, any trace of her fear and agitation gone. "I mean it's kinda warm around you, but it's not unbearably so. Maybe it's cause I got goosebumps...

"Cause -someone- is trying to scare me!"

Aeria glares at the back of her head, pouting. The blonde is sticking her tongue out at her too.

Chi could only look thoughtful at the mention of having one's face plastered all across the galaxy. Given everything that Ava talked about leaned more towards infamy than fame, it probably was not a good thing. She turned her head towards Aeria, who only seemed very excited at the mention of a galaxy.

The glance Aeria throws her is half-triumphant, half-accusatory. She is fairly sure what Aeria is accusing her of - being an alien. However, she does not respond to Aeria in favor of paying more attention to Ava's story.

She does not really get the group Ava was in, neither their purpose or their motivation. It is like they had something in them that she does not quite have the capacity to understand. After all, she does not need strangers, but she would not think about getting rid of them. Emily according to Aeria is her enemy, but it never occurred to her to get rid of he-

Her nostrils flare ever so slightly as she catches a strange scent. Her legs tense in anticipation as if about to go running. However, she relaxes almost immediately. Instead she audibly sniffs twice and stares in the direction of the scent that was not there moments before. Unbeknownst to her, her gaze track the course that the spectre takes around Ava, though it is clear that she is not quite looking at it directly.

"That's pretty fucked up," Aeria continues on as she rocked on the heels of her feet. There is a half-disgusted, half-fascinated look in her eyes, though it clears a bit as she watched Ava play with the buttons of the coat. "That's a full-fledged, kool-aid drinking, cult right there. Like I could see the appeal of having mindless minions to do my bidding - but life's less fun when you're only surrounded by yes-men. Leader's probably got an inferior- Lils, what's up?"

She sniffs again as her response.

Aeria sniffs experimentally several times too. She then stares at the confused-looking salesperson next to her before asking, "Did -someone- fart?"

The salesperson now looks offended. She can tell because her gaze passed briefly over her.

She shakes her head and writes on her tablet.

[ There is a not-smell. ]

[ Oh well. ]

She wiped her tablet blank before stopping her sniffing. She is supposed to be out doing the recreation with her friends.

There will be plenty of time to chase not-smells later.

Aeria however stiffens immediately before quickly stepping closer by Ava's side. "I'm gonna take refuge by you. Thank you." The blonde grumpily frowned before adding, "I said I didn't want to know if creepy things are around, Lils!"

She shrugs before she turned her head towards Ava.

“But why do you have to go?” twelve year old Lillian asked her brother.

“You always knew I’d leave Readceras someday, Lili,” said Bram as he hoisted his bag over his shoulder. “There’s nothing here but dirt and dead dreams.”

Lillian scuffed her boot in the aforementioned dirt. “But you were supposed to go see mountains or oceans. Not the Dyrwood.”

Bram smiled weakly. “It’s just a step on the way. But I gotta do this, Lili. For all of us. It’s Eothas.”

She stared at her shoes. “Promise you’ll come back?”

Bram ruffled her hair. “I’ll try.”

He didn’t.
