March 26, 2015: Commencement Speech at Wasada University Dept. of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering.
2015-03-30 | PRESS RELEASE
NTN'S SOGO DELIVERS COMMENCEMENT AT WASEDA UNIVERSITY
TOKYO, JAPAN – In front of a crowd of graduates, parents and faculty, Tetsuya Sogo, CEO of NTN Americas Region, delivered the commencement address to the 2015 graduating class of Waseda University’s Department of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering on March 26, 2015, in Tokyo, Japan.
“It is an honor to be asked to deliver the commencement address at your alma mater,” said Mr. Sogo, a 1982 graduate of Waseda. “I believe it is important to provide insights to new professionals that can help them see how the education they just received will be the foundation of a successful career.”
Mr. Sogo focused his remarks on his experience in a global marketplace, and how the education he gained from the School of Creative Science & Engineering still helps him today. His main message, though, was that their education does not end with their graduation, they just need to change how they learn.
“Students learn theory in the classroom. Now it is time for them to go out into the world and learn through action,” Sogo said of the speech. “Action will serve them well not only with their practical knowledge of how things work, but also gaining the respect of their peers. The sooner they can learn this, the sooner they can establish themselves as growth minded leaders.”
Sogo has proven his support for this ideal through two initiatives. First, he has been establishing a Learning Organization culture at NTN in the Americas. Training and education reimbursement are available to inspire growth in all employees. Additionally, he has provided internship opportunities in all departments to help students in their education transformation.

. . . there was something inside me that couldn't be satisfied with art alone. It occurred to me that what I needed was action with which to move my spirit. What could I do to get my spirit moving? I realized I would have to move my body first. So I moved my body, but just moving your body is madness, although plenty of people do it at Go-Go clubs and the like . . . For every action, there must be a reaction. And where does that reaction come from? It comes from your opponent. Without an opponent, there's, no point to action. Well, I was very much in need of an opponent and I settled on communism. It's not as if Communists had attacked my children or set my house on fire. I have very little reason really. I simply chose communism as an opponent, because I needed an opponent to provoke me to action.

Carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs) are used in the aerospace, automotive, and sports equipment industries. However, their recycling remains a major problem. In a recent study, researchers from Waseda University demonstrated a novel direct discharge electrical pulse method for the efficient, effective, and environmentally friendly separation of CFRPs to recover high-quality carbon fibers. This work is expected to pave the way for a more sustainable world. The world is hurtling rapidly towards a developed future, and carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs) play a key role in enabling technological and industrial progress. These composite materials are lightweight and highly strong, making them desirable for applications in various fields, including aviation, aerospace, automotive, wind power generation, and sports equipment.

Pro-Palestine student demonstrations spread to Japan on Friday, with a protest held at Waseda University in Tokyo against Israel’s ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reports. Footage on social media shows dozens of students gathering in support of Palestinians, chanting “Free Palestine, free Palestine, and Palestine will be free.” They were also carrying banners and placards with slogans against Israel and “Free Palestine, Save Gaza.”

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 20th: Fireball Booster (2024)
I love her outfit. Reminds me of the one worn by Waseda University students at Shonan Yosakoi Festival in Japan. I wonder what kimono is it called, the design is so beautiful and elaborate. 👘

The art of the drawing is pretty much rushed, don't be surprised if you notice weird spots. Now then, I say it again one last time, Happy Birthday Owaji and may someone let you sleep on their laps like a cat.
Phew... I finally finished my drawing. I'm sorry if there are plenty of mistakes, I use my phone to draw and there might be some errors from the background. Anyway, I already celebrated Albert's birthday in both Ao3 and Twitter. Happy late sweet birthday, my sleepy child, Owaji. You're may look and different than others like the Moriarty's gang and their friends but I'm sure they will respect you as a human being (ahem, I mean dryad-). Louis would definitely prefer you the most, considering the two of you can get along with your chef's skills. If Louis is so good at cooking, why not have Owaji to do both, like cooking and baking? That way, both of them can be everyone's housewives.
Edit: I almost forgot about my watermark, I am not letting my art to be taken away in a flash of a eye. I tell you, I spent two days of finishing this drawing and the hours I drew in Ibis paint? I count the hours and it took nearly 10 hours to finish. Imagine my procrastination 😔😭

Hexaarylbenzenes (HABs) with six different substituents were synthesized for the first time in 2015 by a research team consisting of Kenichiro Itami and Shin Suzuki from Nagoya University and Junichiro Yamaguchi from Waseda University in Japan, which is a milestone.
"The key to access HABs was to use thiophene (a five membered ring containing a sulfur atom) as the starting material," says Junichiro Yamaguchi who co-led the research. "
They describe a programmed synthesis of hexaarylbenzenes using C-H activation, cross-coupling and [4+2] cycloaddition reactions. The present method allows for the isolation and structure–property characterization of hexaarylbenzenes with distinctive aryl substituents at all positions for the first time. Moreover, the established protocol can be applied to the synthesis of tetraarylnaphthalenes and pentaarylpyridines(Nat. Chem. 2015, 7, 227). Two years later, the team again synthesized octaarylnaphthalenes (OAN) and octaarylanthracenes (OAA) with eight different substituents.
