#I am tags rambling in 2023 but I've been analyzing myself about my selective watching of potc #and like why am I overlooking Davy's flaws and misogyny #and I think it's because after Barbossa's behavior in 1 the bar for misogyny became underground for these films #so everyone that didn't threaten women with assault like three times in the movies runtime (like Barbossa)#was already fine in my book #like when Barbossa set that bar Davy could clear it easily because he doesn't do anything like that despite being an abusive ass #its a matter of perspective #also in the deleted scene I feel like Wills like -choose the right woman- was a bit worse than like #what usually will does since will is the only non misogynistic char around #I don't know I spent the whole night lowkey thinking about this shit for no reason #not because of any moral high ground but because I feel like a fail film student if I don't pick up on these things #and let them slide bc of my own emotions #I am pretty sure I can tear into Davy's character and point out the shitload of unlikable qualities #but I just don't want to #and sadly I also wish Barbossa wasn't like that in 1 because I wanna like him and that's the only way I can

Thinking about how (a humanoid) Bill would see Ford be older after those 30 years (because that’s how people work), and so to try and appeal to him again, he makes himself look older too (I mean, he’s WAYYYY older than Ford actually, but I just mean visually)

Idk who needs to hear this but time and time again isn't over!!!

Webtoon removed the "time and time again will return!!!" Banner and I don't know why, but it's not over!!! There's still another 1/3 of the comic to go! There's a lot more stuff that I'm working on and it'll be coming back soon!

Please be patient with me, I know it's been a long time... But the stuff I'm making is really good and there's a lot of reasons it's taken this long. I promise I want it back more than anyone.

I'm trying to come back around the end of October. I'm doing my best to get everything ready in time, so no promises, but I'm on track to do so! I'm just one person writing and drawing everything, and my editor was fired so I'm not even getting any notes anymore. It's literally just me. I'm doing my best I promise!

Dust has nightmares about fighting and killing here and there, but the ones that really stick with him are the ones that are just... memories. Things he can never have again.

What he can have though, is a distraction when he wakes up to help him settle and make sure he's not alone with his thoughts for too long

look i understand if people just don't like the idea of billford, i think we have a different internal concept of what shipping means (they're not good for each other at all but i need to dissect their dynamic like a bug. you understand. it's fun) but it's fine to avoid things you don't like, good for you genuinely

however people saying they like. don't see it. like. i'm not saying there's no platonic way to read it, i'm aroace spec myself i'm all for reading things in different ways. but i do think saying they weren't partners in any queer sense at all is trying too hard to go against what the narrative is trying to say, or missing it. somehow

anyway media literacy time if a character makes a joke like this

and the previous context of that joke within the show is that it's about an ex wife. what connection do you think the text is trying to get you to make.

and that's just from a writing point of view. not even noting that from an in universe perspective ford likely knows the joke from the same source as stan. and is therefore. placing himself in that role of the joke are you seeing where i'm coming from

(not to mention bill's side of this text which is. extremely manipulative but also does not read very platonic. again, it can technically be read as platonic! bill literally can manipulate ford's feelings. but the specific wording used is very much meant to look like possessive ex partner wording whether the character means it that way or not. it's coding. look again i'm not saying it was good for them i'm just saying there was something there.)

and then there's also the divorce/break up/rock bottom input on the website. like. how else is that supposed to be read. and the corresponding page in the book itself.

the language being used here. like yes he's saying it in a joking way but then there's the other side that isn't joking which is him crying at the bar. it's the both sides (the very coded language on top of the very genuine emotions and dynamic beneath)

i know most of us are on the same page with this i've just seen a couple people saying they don't see it when this is some of the most clear cut coding i've ever seen. and these are just the things that explicitly reference a relationship off the top of my head i'm not even including the general vibes of Everything

tl;dr it's barely even subtext anymore it's all but straight up text. what's not clicking have we forgotten what coding is (lighthearted i just enjoy the phrase what's not clicking. what's not clicking)

#also i fully think they can be aroace spec about it if that's the issue. i have nonspecific aroace spec headcanons for ford i understand #i do personally think there was some form of attraction there even if not in the most typical way. but the specifics are there to play with #i don't think they ever necessarily labelled it as a relationship either #but yeah. like. yes it can technically be read platonically. sure. i would say most things can be #there are no rules to it have fun #but from a writing perspective. why would it include some of these things if it didn't want you to see them as exes in some sense #i'm sorry but this is just. text i don't know why i'm trying to convince the like three people who don't already see this i should sleep #billford #too scared to main tag other than that #gravity falls #changed my mind i have like 3 followers i'll be fine #the people who would explode me the most probably already have the billford tag blocked or something #the book of bill #thisisnotawebsitedotcom #this is not a website dot com #does the tag have spaces or not. i'm not checking. it's 11:30 pm here

Do you think if the trolls all came back, like everything in the main comic did happen and they were alive again. Do you think Feferi would actually forgive Eridan? Or want to even be his friend after everything? I don't personally like the erisol and fefertasprite interaction…felt rushed…..so I just wanted to know your opinion if things were different! :)

Yeah, I think they would be! Feferi is one of the trolls who takes dying the least badly (relentless optimism) and Eridan does genuinely feel bad, which means a lot when it's Eridan. I think she really is genuine when she says she wants them to be friends and also that she's really not the type of person to hold a grudge, and like... death is SUPER cheap in Homestuck, it's really not the horrific, irredeemable, irreperable damage that it is IRL - and if you're talking about (Feferi) and (Eridan), then they're both dead (and irrelevent) now, so the score is kind of even.

In general, the fandom - I mean, people in general, really - tend to have difficulty divorcing themselves from other people. We tend to assume that the people and characters they like will hold similar opinions to themselves. This is how people who like Karkat and don't like Eridan can mentally gloss over or even block out their clear, close friendship, or how people who dislike Cronus can end up overlooking that Meenah actually takes his opinion seriously and unironically defends his wizard thing. Feferi really isn't mad at Eridan or upset about dying the way we probably would be, because she's friends with the horrorterrors, relentlessly cheerful, comfortable with death in general, and death is also just not really that big of a deal in this setting. "I'm really sorry about that, that was shitty of me" is honestly probably all the apology she needs, especially if they came back to life anyway.

#i dunno in general the fandom loves to blow stuff up #and make it all way way angstier than it needs to be or was even shown to be #by all accounts feferi takes dying really well #im sure shes still not STOKED to be eridan's friend again but out of all her faults #holding long unreasonable grudges isnt really one of them #(that's a kanaya thing actually)#eridan's always gonna be an annoying pest to her in large doses but i think she basically thinks of him as a friend #also eridan responds to problems overwhelmingly with Fight #so this idea that eridan will be forever mopey and angsty also doesnt ring true to his character #if anything i can see him becoming annoying again because now he won't stop fucking apologizing #like bro chill its fine already oh my god why is everyt)(ing suc)( a PRODUCTION wit)( you #because thats the last point too like #homestuck always returns to humor #hussie even says in the book commentary that homestuck is lighthearted and comedic at its core #that it keeps returning to that as a touchstone #even during its tensest moments like murderstuck theres just constant funnies and gags #so i just end up going kinda :/ when an interpretation is purely maudlin or cathartic #like its more homestuck when its funny and characters treating murder with the same gravitas as irl #not only doesnt make sense in universe where death is cheap - ESPECIALLY for trolls #but also just doesn't really feel very homestuck to me #but that is 100% personal taste so if you like that stuff by all means keep enjoying it lol #you just arent going to get uber angst from me u_u

I finished A Court of Frost and Starlight last night...and I have a lot of feelings. Putting them under the cuff and just gonna generalize the biggest peeves I had below...

Can the Inner Circle be anymore insufferable? They probably can…but they really gave me the ick in this book, even more than the others up to this point.

Feyre talking about how many Illyrians died in the Battle of Hybern or how many families in Velaris are displaced and homeless after the war…but then she keeps flexing about the endless supply of money she and Rhysand have. And doesn't even think about giving any of it away to those in need? Oh, and she's gifted another house at the end of the book?! The utter lack of self-awareness is gob-smacking and just makes her and Rhysand all the more unlikable.

My biggest pet peeve of all in this book: Feyre treating Lucien like actual garbage and Rhysand saying he "can't forgive him [Lucien]" for what he did to her UTM. I'm sorry, what kind of gaslighting is this?! Lucien?! Lucien did nothing but try to HELP Feyre every step of the way UTM and was even willing to let Rhysand turn his mind to soup rather than give up her name, and that's when she was still human! The gaslighting by the characters and author in these books over other characters' actions continues to drive me insane. Where did that assassination of Lucien's character even come from?!

Oh, and we can't forget Rhysand visiting Tamlin twice, who is CLEARLY deeply, horribly depressed - he's unkempt, not eating, barely communicates, and even asks for forgiveness at the end - and Rhysand just keeps verbally kicking the guy again and again. It was so unsettling and uncomfortable for me to read someone verbally abusing someone suffering this badly. If I had any more reasons to dislike the fandom's favorite High Lord, there it was. He's grotesque towards others' pains and faults but can't look in a mirror. Ever.

There really wasn't much to like about this book, and it's a shame because the after-war reprieve could have been a lovely, cozy read. It was interesting getting other characters' POVs, too…but they all are so infuriating and self-righteous that it made the experience very un-enjoyable for me.

I'm basically hanging on to this fandom for Lucien's and Elain's POVs…and praying that their storylines are upheld, not gaslighted, or sh*t all over.
