Athena, you beautiful optimist. Your family tried to beat it out of you, and at first you flew away so you didn't get hurt again. But meeting these two loyal and honorable to a fault mortals makes you persist, you ask for Odysseus's freedom anyway just so he can make it home to his son and wife, just so he can spend his remaining years with them.

GODDAMIT ATHENA REALLY DID JUST LOOK AT TELEMACHUS AND GO "FUCK ITS BABY ODY"

TELEMACHUS WHOLE EXCITEMENT AFTER NOT DYING IN HIS LITTLE BRAWL WAS JUST TOO MUCH FOR HER. ATHENA JUST LOOKED AT THAT AND SAW THE BOY WHO HUNTED HER MAGIC BULL FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES. AND. SHE. BROKE.

Listening to Epic on Shuffle thought: There's this line on Little Wolf sang by Athena.

"One young wolf has a larger heart than all these men combined"

and I thought "Yeah, but that won't help him during battle. If anything, it'll make things worse." And that's when I realised, that's the exact thing Athena thought of in Warrior Of The Mind. And she saw the consequences it had on Odysseus (because, let's be real, she would have supported the Monster mentality at first. At least more than the Open Arms one). She realised she shouldn't stop people from being sympathetic or optimistic. She would use that second chance she has as much as she can with Telemachus. She wouldn't screw up again. I'll take that as proof that a) She has genuinely learned from her mistakes and b) kept an eye on Ody for a lot before Love In Paradise and saw exactly what her advice to be cold made of her friend.

I really hope that, after killing the suitors, Athena tells Odysseus that she was wrong and he really is the Warrior of the mind.

Like don't you guys see it? Warrior of the mind is like the best title you can be given in the universe of Epic. It means to be favoured by a goddess of wisdom and war. It means to be strong, smart and a supreme fighter.

And you know what would be even better?

If Ody just smiled and said "What I really want to be is your friend"

Something I just noticed about EPIC the Musical: Every saga closer song has been sung by one of Odysseus' foes.

Athena's "Warrior of the Mind" and "My Goodbye." (although she started as his mentor and is now royally mad at him)

Poseidon's "Ruthlessness."

Circe's "There Are Other Ways."

But the Underworld and Act 1 closer is sung by Odysseus. Guys. GUYS. HE'S HIS OWN WORST ENEMY I CAN'T-
