So...I had to go to a ToD2 Magic Exhibition vid. One of the plotlines in Warrior Academy (usually relegated to side material since Teefa, Lufia, and their relationships with people around them is the main story) is the return of magic between Tales of Destiny 1 and 2 and how the former Masters are trying to learn to cast. And since Leon is the only person with confirmed D2 style spellsets (I mean, who wouldn't just copy from Judas to explain how he'd work in a theoretical "Leon survives either in AU or in the Fixed Timeline" situation) I had to decide which Elements people are using.
Right now I needed to have the Katrea siblings doing some casting so I had to remind myself how things look!

Hi queer fans of queer stuff! How are we feeling with today's TV industry? How about really bloody angry?
Look, the recent cancelation of Dead Boy Detectives is obviously personal for its fandom, but it's also one more nail in the coffin and I think we have to start doing something about it together.
I went through this with Sense8. With Our Flag Means Death. With smaller but also amazing shows like The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself. Not to mention when it's not cancelled yet but it's boycotted with seasons cut in half or zero marketing. *I am tired*.
If you are too, I ask you to join the campaign. This is specifically about increasing views and attention, not because Netflix is necessarily going to change their minds (we know that's unlikely), but because we want to prove that we exist as a group.
So even if you don't feel like actually watching right now, we ask you to give it a stream if you have a Netflix account, with headphones connected or low volume. If you don't have a Netflix account, and honestly good for you, you can help by boosting us in social media.
I do recommend Dead Boy Detectives for real, it's REALLY good, but this is more about joining forces. They want numbers, so we give them numbers in the most petty way: after they cancelled so that other networks will get interested. At the very least, the crew and creators might get some royalties and they deserve it after busting their asses for years to give us this season.
TL;DR: stream dead boy detectives as a community to shove it in their faces

i’ve been thinking after the tua finale about netflix and how badly it’s treated its shows lately, so here’s a list off the top of my head of all the shit netflix has pulled recently:
- cancelled teenage bounty hunters
- cancelled julie and the phantoms
- cancelled warrior nun until the fandom brought it back
- cancelled first kill
- cancelled glow
- cancelled i am not okay with this
- cancelled sense8
- turned cobra kai into a one dimensional soap opera and tanked the character development
- fumbled the bad with the final season of atypical
- the disaster that was the final season of the umbrella academy
- cancels the majority of its shows about the lgbtq+ community and other minority groups (teenage bounty hunters, warrior nun, first kill, etc) while predominantly cishet shows with forced representation get season after season (outer banks, cobra kai, stranger things)
- raising prices while the quality of the service has gone significantly down
netflix has managed to somehow go from being the top streaming service with tons of good shows and movies to a joke. this isn’t just a problem with netflix, but you basically can’t get attached to a show that isn’t completed anymore because the assumption is that it’ll get cancelled. that isn’t even going into the fact that if the show is continued, there’s a good chance it will be ruined.
i think the final season of stranger things will play a huge role in netflix’s future. if it’s good, there might be hope and maybe they’ll actually care about their shows again. but if it sucks, i think a lot of people (myself included) will be done with this shitty platform. they’ve shown time and time again they don’t actually care about their viewers and only care about the money they make. i’m done with getting invested in their shows knowing the likelihood of things ending badly is high.
anyways, i hope their ceos sleep well knowing that they’ve ruined their streaming service. lol

Do people not know how to write endings anymore?
I swear, every show I’ve seen in the past few years either gets cancelled or has a horrible ending.
Supernatural: Shit ending
Julie and the phantoms: Cancelled
Warrior nun: Cancelled
Locke & key: Shit ending
Our flag mean death: Cancelled
Big sky: Cancelled
Gotham knights: Cancelled
Lookwood & co: Cancelled
The winchesters: Cancelled
Game of thrones: Shit ending
Sherlock: Shit ending
Umbrella academy: Shit ending
Shall I go on? Because I could. For like an hour.
Endings are never easy, but I swear they weren't always this bad. First, they make us pay for a billion different streaming services, then they take away our 22-24 episode seasons and stick us with 8 episode seasons, shows only last for 4 season maximum, it takes years to shoot each season, and they can't even give us a decent fucking ending for the shows that actually manage to be good despite all that bullshit. I hate it here.

Gotta love when I can have fun with...A) the fact that mythological and folklore names are used for Spirit Beings in different video games meaning there's overlap and B) non-English words can be transliterated several different ways. This small aside sees, as a followup to Philia accidentally using Flamberge while in an ill-advised combination attack with Lizzie and Kate (Philia's still deciphering Extensions and has no word for them even yet, Kate can only cast Healing magic...), Rooks gets Teefa and Darwin's help to research the strange spirit she summoned.
It has semantic conversations on the Fire Spirit's name. Remember...Arcana's Efrite, Tales' Efreet, and Final Fantasy's Ifrit all come from the same Arabic Djinn, but transliterating Arabic to Katakana and then to English came up with different results.

Save Dead Boy Detectives!
As someone who went to school for entertainment production, seeing Netflix’s continual axing of all these great shows with little consideration is so disheartening. The job market as is for the entertainment industry is abysmal, and Netflix’s treatment of the creators and actors when it comes to wily-nilly cancelling their productions… the fans get burned, but so do these peoples’ livelihood.
With, what, less than 30% of their shows getting renewed, there’s no reliability to Netflix as a viewer or as a creative employee. Maybe it’s the last of my foolish hope in thinking we’ll be heard, that Netflix will see how tired we are of their disregard. But hey, it’s worth a shot, right?
If anyone scrolling past can spare 30 seconds, please sign the petition. Let’s get the mega corporation to listen to the viewers instead of just letting them drain us for money. Maybe our fandoms are different, but we love what we love, and all we can ask for is an alliance. Who knows, maybe you never heard of the show, maybe you avoided it because of the potential for cancelation, and maybe you gave it a shot and just didn’t like it, and that’s alright! All I can do is ask.
Thank you for sticking around to read this! And to those who sign, take a piece of my heart with you. Sincerely, Thank You.

...yes, I just researched different 'mons that can be ridden that live in Elemen for a discussion sidestory that takes place around Riding Day. And it will go into just what everyone escaped on during the rebellion since, unlike when I wrote my in-universe fics, "horses" is too broad a description when there's both a workhorse and beauty horse in this region.
Also...elves ride Sawsbuck on practice!

Been working on some Sidestories for Warrior Academy, since there's a lot I can do that wouldn't make the main plot. And decided on a dumb gag for the Lagoon crew.
You see, in the ending, Nasir's twin brother, Thor, has his soul trapped in a pendant. While we know he can speak to Nasir in that state, we don't know if it's reverberating out for all to hear or telepathy. I went with the latter, so he could be talking with Felicia or the Hyrule Crew (as I go full on with the fact that they were extremely Out of Focus in the old game this was based on so the four of them are often together), and then Thor has a comment Nasir replies to. Which can be a mundane thing or a "Yeah, not surprised Zerah kept bears..."
Now...how long till I use this to make shipping jokes with him and Felicia...?

They Came from the Cyclops's Cave!
The first game I've ever pitched and developed is out!
They Came from the Cyclops's Cave! is a game of fantasy cinematic adventure. Part of the They Came From series by Onyx Path Publishing, Cyclops's Cave is completely standalone, an awesome game covering fantasy in all its shapes.
Each They Came From is a love letter to a given movie/media genre zeitgeist, and I pitched Cyclops's Cave to be unique and do the whole fantasy genre. It allows to play from Harryhausen movies to The Lord of the Rings, passing through Xena, Ladyhawke, He-Man, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, The Black Cauldron, and Dragonheart.
Seriously, I can't overstate how much range this game has. Like, it *technically* covers TV shows and movies from the 40s to the 90s, but I am who I am, so you'll find nods to Adventure Time, Zelda, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and many more in here. Of course you will, this game's my baby, and I wanted it to commit to fantasy at its fullest.
Here you'll find:
- Tools to create your own heroes, be them warriors, gorgons, pixies, slimes, or mimics
- Cinematic powers that replicate movie beats.
- A vast collection of antagonists and creatures.
- Two ready-made scenarios.
...and much more!
Seriously, I love They Came From, how it combines comedy and devotion to media at the table through honest love. This baby of mine is the result of so much hard work, done by a team of awesome people who poured their love for the project into all pages.
Please consider checking it out! That would mean the world to me.
(Also: Cyclops's Cave is the foundation for the upcoming They Came From Witchford Academy!, its very cool upcoming Magical School supplement!)

Blueberryclan Faction Leaders
In Blueberryclan, some cats become designated leaders for an Island Trial that every apprentice or visiting warrior alike may participate in if they wish to become an official warrior for BBclan! Each cat owns a faction of the island, having miniature clan camps so they don't have to travel all the way back to the base camp.
Each cat specializes in their own trial, chosen by not only the leader but the deputy by the will of Crystals.
I don't have full details on it, yet, as I am still plotting the Island and what each trial would be like, but here are their concepts! I'm really satisfied with how these turned out 👀
