By the way I think it's also insane to only believe the victims if there is "no kinkshaming" involved. I've seen that argument used a ton of times and it's gross. The only reason kink should be brought up is to dismiss it as a potential line of defense Gaiman could have, not to be like "what about my fantasies!!".

Every woman on earth from any political or socioeconomical background is still a woman who will therefore be subjected to misogyny. Misogyny isn't something Bad Men do to Good Women on an individual scale. As soon as a woman says something you don't agree with/morally wrong or associates herself with bad people, she doesn't become unable of being a victim of sexual assault.

I think having this whole debate about kink during sexual abuse allegations is in extremely poor taste. Even IF ("if" because it didn't happen) the journalists of the Tortoise podcast had inserted their own beliefs about kink during all this, the victims were still directly recounting the sexual assault experiences with their own voices on the podcast. I find it genuinely horrifying you all think women should only use leftist approved language and platforms to denounce rapists. What about tradwives or right wing women, do you just immediately assume they're lying? What about women who can't find any leftist media outlets because they are all too scared to get sued to pick it up? I'm not saying you should blindly follow everything right wing articles say and how they spin such stories at times, just that every victim deserves to be heard and trusted. False allegations are incredibly rare you should not assume they are the default when you don't like a woman or when you like the man who abused them.

Anxiety anxiety anxiety… what can you do

Because these pages were kinda challenging both writing and layout-wise, I'd written an excerpt to hopefully explain a bit more as i don't think i expressed it too well through dialogue??

“Cogsworth still fears something bad will happen again. The psychological toll of living 10 years under the curse doesn’t just disappear overnight after all. He feels guilty that he isn’t as quickly well adjusted to normality as everyone else has, and at the same time doesn’t understand how everyone can easily forget about what just happened. This random incident of Lumière falling ill had completely frightened him- even though he didn’t catch anything serious. Although he knows in a practical sense that this is unlikely, Cogsworth still fears in his heart a repeat of the curse, or something akin, to creep up on the castle once again. During this fragile period where he is still processing things at his own pace, Lumière’s sudden collapse had caused him to spiral, with his anxieties confirming his greatest fears for just a moment; targeting his best friend as punishment. Cogsworth wishes he could stop worrying and instead celebrate this new, refreshing era with his friends, but that doesn’t come easy when you’re wired to hold a deep protectiveness to the castle and everyone in it… and a learned sense of security to the person who’s been closest by your side through it all.

Lumière is the one that’s hurt, why is he so calm about this? He’s treating it as if it's nothing. Why doesn't he care about how the others feel about his situation? Why am I reacting so much? I wish he could just get out of his own head. So selfish…”

WIP Sketch

“uh … it’s a bit girly … no?” javier examines himself in the reflection of his knife’s blade, looking this-a way and that, the dark blue of a large silken bow now peeking sheepishly around his neck as it sits gently in his hair. next to him, kieran clams up a smidge, hands still held close to his chest nearby his completed ribbon project on javier’s head. he finds it in himself to wring his hands a time or two rather than immediately undo his work as javier seems to continue to formulate his final opinion. “you … think so? look at me?” kieran asks, politely as a mouse. javier easily complies, turns at his hips and looks behind, up at kieran where he sits on the stump above him.

kieran, as he peers over, can’t help the meadow of flush that blooms over his neck, then his ears, then his nose and his cheeks. he can tell javier is deep in thought by the look on his face, mouth twisted just a might sideways, cocking his mustache awry, and the deep wrinkle sat between his brows. the ribbon he used matches javier’s vest perfectly, and the shine of the silk warms bright in the sun, just like every piece of jewelry and metal javier has adorned himself with. with this ribbon, javier’s hair sits lower on his head, ponytail draped down his nape and more hair framing his face in his bangs. kieran resists an urge to tuck one side back behind his ear.

kieran thinks that he looks like a painting, a muse, a love letter so heartbreakingly full of adoration that the only language it could be written in is bright swipes of pigment on a canvas. as he makes eye contact with the silk squinting around the red of a necktie, he thinks that javier may be right, if ‘girly’ could sum up ’poetry written in effeminate reverence’.

kieran always did think women made better art, wrote better books- found a better way to love. softer. warmer. prettier. like javier.

the world sounds like it’s underwater.

“i think … it’s very pretty. it suits you real well.”

earnest to a fault, the look in kieran’s eye dances gingerly with javier’s internal voice. it dips and sways him, and javier, despite his instinct, finds himself charmed by its rhythm.

“-b-but! i could take it out! if you don’t-“ javier looks down at himself in his knife again, the sunlight filtered through the leaves glinting a yellow green around his dark features, and kieran hands him patience on a silver platter. a rich blue makes friends with bright green quite easy, javier thinks. this is how he must look through kieran’s mossy lens.

“pretty … yes. you know, i think you may be right. i’ll keep it. gracias.”
