Some disclaimers (as previously stated.) I started this ask account originally when I was about 16 and drew a LOT for it in 2019-2020 specifically. Because of this, there are some things that are either silly or may come across incorrectly. Here are sum clearer-ups: (Only specifying because I used to get dumb questions on DA a lot from people who ignore the possibility of context) -I don't ship william afton x mangle/mangle's "kid/dog soul". I ship springtrap (the furry animatronic) with Mangle (the furry animatronic). No soul business involved in that context. Theyre just two angsty furries thats it. think tony crynight. -I USED to ship Vanny x William Afton. I started this account before security breach came out and revealed the two to be father and daughter and I didn't think it was possible bc William was a dead corpse for longer than however old vanessa looked. My version of vanny (like everyone elses at the time) was nothing at all like canon vanny anyway, so I consider her more of an OC than of the character Vanessa. I'll likely try to bring back the "Vanny oc" character, her current changed name is Penny until I decide what else to do with her. Any asks to Vanny/Vanessa will go to the canon version of her -I had a whole ask arc about characters wearing "femboy clothing". and have had drawn responses implying suggestive/sexual things. It was always just a joke to me but I think the lengths I went were a little uncomfortable for me to be drawing as a teen and posting to a large audience. I want my content to be appropriate for anyone to enjoy so consider that type of humor incredibly toned down now. All of the characters are physically asexual bc they are robots made for kids.

After twelve years, I'm finally telling the internet why I love Taylor Swift🖤 

Hello, internet using world. I’d like to introduce myself to the few people who followed me. Hi! My name is Christa and I am a Taylor Swift fan with every fiber of my being. Full disclosure, this is a short novel so now is your chance to make an exit, but I hope you stay.

Taylor and my ridiculously furry cat, Lyle

(affectionately nicknamed “rent-free”), are the only two beings made of flesh and bone who have been consistent in my life for the last 12 years. With a close second being my son, Gauge, who just turned 10. I won’t get into the details (in this post) as to why that is, but let’s just say there were a lot of ups and downs growing up.

The last 12 years have been an evolution for Taylor,

and subsequently, for me. At (dare I say it) 

38 years old, I’ve found that a lot of things happen in a decade. Like, A LOT. Now, I don’t feel 38. I guess I owe that to humor, singing, dancing, sarcasm, and launching a successful career that didn’t exist 15 years ago —something that has made me always push harder to set new goals and stay humble. But one thing I didn’t do over these last 12 years that I deeply regret was starting a fan page for Taylor. I mean, ESPECIALLY since I’m a professional travel blogger who makes her full time living from digital content!

There’s been a lot of momentum over the last 12 years

—demands which left me with little to no free time. But I can’t blame my absence from the Swiftie family entirely on that. In fact, I’d have to say, I blame much of it on fear.

Fear,

of being misunderstood, fear of judgment or writing something lame. I’ve had over 2,000 articles published online and in print as well as countless social posts, but the thought of Taylor seeing something I wrote and thinking it’s totally weird (or cough, too long for the internet), well let’s just say I’d be less afraid of walking into a burning building.

Fear,

of being called a fake because the financial demands as a single mom left me little money to spend on myself or Taylor merchandise, much less tickets to a show. I’ve always placed my son’s needs before mine.

Fear,

that I was too old to be a Taylor Swift fan. I mean, I was 26 when she hit the music scene and she was what, 16? I’ve been afraid. Afraid I would be rejected by other Swifties who really are the only people who understand this love we have for her  —which is basically like being rejected by your own people. Also, it’s super weird to be following teens/young adults on social, much less engaging with them.

Fear.

Along with my fear, a perfect storm of entrepreneurial demands, single motherhood, failed relationships (one of which was a marriage), and family matters have served as a constant reminder that my dream of ever meeting Taylor takes residence on another planet. An actual trip to Mars seemed more attainable. 

I feel like there is a whole demographic of women, “Swiftie Moms” who echo my story,

having watched Taylor grow into the strong beautiful woman she's become. Women my age who love her from behind the wheel of their SUV, on the way to drop their kids off to school, on the way back from a milk run, in the dark hours of the mornings when they’re dancing in the kitchen with a full on hair bun singing into a coffee spoon. Unnoticed fans who haven’t had the time to dive head first into the Swiftie Universe. But here I am. After all the fear and all the years...

So, why?

This is a hard one to answer. I guess you can say that after many years of challenges, judgment from others, and doing the complete opposite of what logic and reason said I should  —divorce, single motherhood, a second degree in my late twenties... risking it all to start a blog (which by the way in 2013 wasn’t even considered a side job much less a career), I kind of got to a point where I became

fearless.

I had to be. I had this tiny living, breathing human being who was counting on me at the very least, to give him a life a notch above the shit show I had growing up. Not to mention parenting —which is basically wandless wizardry pulled directly from the asses of parents. It demands that your mini human grows up to be a better human than you.

Yeah, unpack that.

Take all your collective shit, figure it out, and then teach your mini to do it better —to BE better than you at love, kindness, respect for others (especially boys respecting girls), integrity, money, and to be fearless. All while giving them the comfort of knowing that you, mom, have it all figured out... even when that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Top that with the pressures of working in the public eye

—which, while on a microscopic level compared to a full-on celebrity such as Taylor, is still very much a juggling act with none of the entourage to lighten the workload. Add to it the demands of working with national brands, and the unwavering ability for other bloggers to tear you down at any opportunity, or even worse, try to get close to you so they can raid your success like a Black Friday sale.

I found myself at the peak of my blogging career

but I was consumed by fear, AGAIN! Fear of shady AF bloggers and publicists, and so much to lose. And fear that now, thousands of people would have an opinion of me formed by jealous bloggers, and they didn’t even know who I really was. 

That’s when letting go of toxic people in my life became essential

—when, no matter who they were, or how I was tied to them, I had to realize that surrounding myself with the ones who lifted me took precedence over the ones who dragged me down. 

After all that..... I learned to give zero f***s about what people thought, or what they said behind my back. 

And I had to start caring about what made my heart happy, what made my family and friends smile, and what inspired me to do better. BE BETTER. Be the example of fearless, with the hope that I was lucky enough to stay that way. But I'm a vulnerable human made of heart and soul and sometimes people can still take the best from me.

I had to be fearless.

In August of 2017 when "Look What You Made Me Do” blessed my ears for the first time, I felt it pierce my skin and course through my veins. And to the very bones of this young 38-year-old Swiftie mom, I was shook AF! I sang, I danced and I drowned out the haters in the blogging world. She had a very clear message,

She had zero f***s to give, Taylor broke the internet.

After watching the seemingly endless myriad of shade thrown at Taylor over the years, my heart erupted with happiness as her flawless first single from Reputation revealed one BADASS BITCH. And with every music video release of her new era, she became a mythical Goddess with bullshit evaporating superpowers. Like, I legit think she’s an actual unicorn. After all, she does ride a caticorn named Olivia.

She got harder, she got smarter in the nick of time

One single post on my Facebook page praising her new era and new single she brought with it attracted a slew of hate speech, white people bashing, claims of Taylor ripping off Beyonce... I couldn’t believe the things I was reading from fellow bloggers. I even had a GLOBAL BRAND threaten my business relationship in their ambassador program because I stood up for Taylor and spoke out about the hate speech which was placed on my own personal Facebook page. But I stood by my words.

Fearless.

Over the following months into early 2018, and to the tune of, “This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things”, I, along with a slew of about 20 other bloggers, ended up taking down said global brand’s publicist who was using his budget and power to demean and sexually harass female bloggers (which would later reveal that blacklisting me was more about not buying into that bullshit rather than my voice on hate speech).

Zero f***s given to those haters.

Mythical Goddess with bullshit evaporating superpowers level officially achieved for Taylor, and even for me. Although I wouldn’t call myself a Goddess. That's all Tay. 🖤

She found love through the noise

And so did I. In November of 2017, I had approached the year anniversary of the greatest love I'd ever known. My last stop. And as the tracks played on, my heart was full. We both found happiness through a seemingly endless sea of anguish.

Taylor is truly doing better than she ever was, and so am I.

Her resilience up against the media and the demands of the industry are perfectly fearless. And her decision to keep her beautifully growing relationship with Joe private is wise. I’ve spent the last year at home, which has been incredible. I’ve had a lot of time to think about what’s most important to me, what has shaped me into the mom, partner and entrepreneur that I am, and it all comes back to Taylor. That’s why it’s time for me to be fearless again and officially join the Swiftie universe.

I’ve spent 12 years fighting dragons with Taylor

and growing a canyon of respect and adoration for her charm, wit, business savvy, musical talent, feminism, compassion, tenacity, love for animals, and of course her lovely, lovely, words. I’ve raised my son from birth with her. There isn't a single day that is spent where Taylor doesn't exist in our lives. For 12 years straight.

That’s a long time to love someone who has no idea you exist.

I play her music videos and YouTube uploads just so I can feel like she’s with us. And so my son knows that she’s one of the finest examples of a human being in his lifetime. I use Taylor’s kindness to teach my son how to be considerate and give back to others while sharing her fearless story with him so she can be a positive role model in his life. Taylor has essentially been part of our family all along. 

My son Gauge has a running joke that Taylor is the only person that can make me cry

(which happens more than I'm willing to admit). And it’s not because I’m weak, or on the verge of a mental breakdown (although I challenge you to try parenting, you might argue that), it’s because I truly love her like a best friend. When I see her happy it makes me happy, when I feel her sadness, it makes me sad. It’s visceral.

I don't believe the human connection is meant to be one-sided.

I feel in my heart, as weird as this may sound, that we will meet Taylor one day, even against all odds. Existing in the same lifetime as Taylor without at least trying to meet her doesn't feel right. I won't look at my son and teach him to let fear and doubt win, or that defying the odds is an impossible task.

Over the years I’ve been a spectator to her outreach to fans. She’s invited them to sessions in her homes, sent them gifts, invited them backstage, surprised them in their homes, made hospital visits, and Lord knows what else she has up her sleeve. And it’s all been done with pure excitement and love for her Swifties. With each outreach she extends, tears of joy are shed for fellow Swifties, and a ray of hope inspires me.

So, I’m starting a personal blog

which tells a very personal story of all the dragons I’ve fought with Taylor over the years. From living in a car at 15 years old to getting invited to LA premieres for Walt Disney and Marvel films. And I'll have no apologies for the truths that will be told (but will change names for privacy). It will be very personal and some of it won’t be pretty. Because life isn’t always pretty.

Taylor is releasing another album this year... we hope,

and she’ll be on yet another tour in 2020. After 12 years I’m finally ready for it. I’ve given my son everything he could possibly want or need. I’ve bought him a beautiful home in Northern Georgia. He’s been able to travel the world and do things most adults haven’t even done. And I owe much of that to Taylor for giving me the strength to take major risks, the courage to face my demons, the balls to cut people out of my life who were toxic and the self-confidence to defy the odds and do things my way.

2019 is our year to show @taylorswift how much we love her.

I’ll let the universe do the rest. Till then, I’ll be fighting dragons with her as I always have and writing my journal for her and anyone else who wants to read the memoirs of an OG Swiftie mom who keeps it real AF, full-on hair bun and all.

🎪 - A circus

It was a warm and sunny day as Benkai’l and Ileyra madetheir way through the streets of the newest town on their travels. There was alight breeze in the air. Children laughed and played while adults supervised orwent about their work. It seemed like a nice place. True they were stillgetting looks but it was more curiosity than disgust or contempt. The townsfolkappeared to be more welcoming than a lot of villages they’d been to. 

That likely explained why there was a circus allowed toset up on the outskirts. 

Everyone seemed to be talking about it with excitement,all the townsfolk wanting to go see it at some point. The buzz had perked upthe adventurer’s ears. Perhaps they should look into it too. 

The two were heading towards the market for some suppliesbefore heading to the inn, when a shape ran out of an alley and crashed intoBen, sending the wolf-kin tumbling to the ground with a grunt. 

“Ben!” their sibling exclaimed, quickly bending down tocheck on them. The werewolf shook their head to get rid of the dazed feeling,then waved their hand to let her know they were okay. They accepted her help insitting up before growling as they looked over at the culprit, the soundquickly dying as they laid eyes on them.

It was a gnoll. Not a common species to see in well offtowns like this. It was on the small side for a gnoll, clothed in only beigeshorts. Brown fur was marred with as many scars and burns as Ben themself had.This one had been through a lot.

The gnoll started to stand from where it fell, using anearby barrel to help but still having great difficulty. It seemed to belimping heavily, unable to put much weight if any on the left foot and leg.When it turned Ben could see that its face was just as scarred as the rest ofit, something they were lucky to have avoided. Its right eye was like an inkyblack pool, while the left a milky white - obviously completely blind. The scarrunning through it was likely the cause. A scar joined by three others, clearlyfrom a set of claws that had also mangled that side of its mouth - gums andteeth showing where lip should have been. A mohawk of bright red hair ran downthe centre of its head and down part of its back. 

“Bryn sorry,” the gnoll said in a raspy and slow butchildlike voice, “Bryn very sorry. Bryn didn’t mean to.”

“Hey, it’s okay,” Ben said, pack instincts alreadykicking in with the need to protect and comfort a pup. “No harm done.” 

They spotted a large stick like object next to them inthe dirt. It was decorated with flowers and ribbons and other accessories,which made them think it must belong to the gnoll. They grabbed it and got up,feeling Iley’s hands at their back as she helped, before holding the woodenpole out to the gnoll. Its face seemed to light up and it panted happily as itreached out for the stick.

Just as they were letting go, a fairly large grey wolfcame out of the alley and around the gnoll before standing in front of it,barking and growling at Ben with its ears pressed back.

‘Back off! Don’t hurt him!’ 

Ben took a step back automatically before blinking andfrowning. They growled themself, ending in a loud huff.

‘I didn’t hurt him.’

The wolf stopped growling and tilted his head inconfusion, not used to anyone that looked human talking back in the samelanguage. A second later a feminine voice came from down the alley.

“Rascal!” A female elf came running down the alley, shortbrown hair bouncing as she moved. She came to a stop beside the wolf and kneltdown, grasping the bandana around his neck and pulling him back. Rascal wasalready in a better mood, tongue hanging out as he looked up at his ‘owner’with a big grin, and didn’t fight. The elf looked up at the strangers. “Sorryabout him. He’s very protective.”

“No problem,” Ben said with a lopsided smile.

“We have a lot of experience with overprotective wolves,”Iley said, grinning playfully as the wolf-kin turned and glared at her. The elffrowned at the statement but didn’t question it, instead standing - revealingshe was actually slightly taller than Ben - and turning to the gnoll. “Bryn,you know better than to run off ahead.”

“Bryn knows,” the gnoll said sadly, moving the stick tounder his left arm, armpit resting in a v shape at the top of the thing whichallowed him to lean on it and take weight off his lame leg - which made theother pair realise it was in fact a crutch. The elf sighed.

“Are you okay?” she asked, noticing the dirt on his furand brushing some off. He nodded.

“Bryn okay. Bryn bumped into...” He lifted his pawtowards the wolf-kin and half-elf before he frowned, tilting his head as he lookedat them befuddled. Iley’s eyes widened as she realised the gnoll didn’t knowtheir names.

“I’m Iley,” she said.

“Ben,” said her sibling, catching on quickly. Bryn smiledwidely. 

“Bryn bumped into Ben. Was Bryn’s fault.”

“He already apologised though. Like I said, no harmdone.” The elf smiled.

“Well it’s nice to meet you two. I’m Flit.” She gestureddown to the wolf. “This is Rascal, and you know Bryn.” Bryn waved, nubby tailwagging. Ben’s own tail wagged in response.

“Likewise,” the werewolf responded.

“So,” Flit said, hands going into her trouser pockets.“What brings you two to this town?”

“Just travelling,” Iley said. “Passing through. Whatabout you guys?”

“We’re with the circus,” the elf said, Bryn noddingeagerly beside her.

“You’re with the circus?” the werewolf asked, tailwagging faster. The gnoll giggled.

“Yes! Ben and Iley should come!” He turned to the elf.“Can Ben and Iley come? Bryn did hurt Ben. Only fair.” Flit smiled softly athim.

“Sure Chuckles. If they want to.” She turned to the pair.“What do you guys say? Want to see how the circus works?”

“Absolutely!” Iley said, Ben nodding and whining inagreement. Bryn started to laugh in a strange yet endearing way, Flit joiningin.

“Well then follow us. Come on Rascal.”  

The trio set off back down the alley, the other pairfollowing behind them.

Ben and Iley were in awe as they entered the circus camp.All the tents were colourful, as were the people milling about. Bryn was hobblingexcitedly and talking all the while as he and Flit lead the way.

“That Mrs Avo. Mrs Avo knows magic, Mrs Avo does tricksin circus and protects camp. That Miss Glass. Miss Glass cooks for circus. MissGlass cooks yummy food. That Jack. Jack is strong man in show. Jack! Jack! LiftBryn.”

The large orc grinned, tusks glinting in the earlyafternoon sun as the gnoll limped quickly over to him. He crossed the remainingdistance in a two big steps before stooping and scooping Bryn up, grasping himby his furry waist and lifting him above his head. The gnoll squirmed andlaughed loudly, like a little kid having the time of his life, but Jack wasn’tphased and held him surely. After a moment he put Bryn back down, ruffling hisred hair before turning towards the approaching Flit and her tag alongs.

“Was’this then Flit?” he said in a gruff but jovialvoice. “You bringin’ us visitors.”

“Be nice Jack,” the elf said with a smile.

“Always am Trueshot,” the orc replied, puffing out hischest. He gave the new duo a toothy smile and a two fingered salute ingreeting. “Nice ta meet ya. Why don’t ya come join us. Miss Glass was justfinishing up lunch.”

Bryn barked happily before he set off towards thecampfire slash kitchen area with a series of soft whoops. Flit shook her headfondly before gesturing a hand. Ben and Iley smiled and followed the orc as hetrailed after the gnoll.

The ‘common’ area was lovely. There was a campfire goinginside a ring of large rocks, a pot of something bubbling over it, with logsthat had been whittled into long seats surrounding it. A small yellow tent wasset up just off the side of it with tables inside. On one there was plates andcutlery, on another there was sharp knives and other such preparation utensils,and on the rest were boxes of ingredients. A white tiger tabaxi in pale yellowrobes walked out of the tent with a small cup of something, taking it over tothe pot and adding it before stirring it. She smiled and chuckled as Brynhobbled over and rested his head on her shoulder, grinning into the pot andwriggling excitedly against her back. She leaned back and purred, booping hishead with hers. He took the nudge and scurried over to sit on one of the logsnext to Jack. The tabaxi smiled before looking over at the newcomers.

“Hello there. Welcome to our circus.”

“Thank you,” Iley said, Ben nodding beside her as theirtail wagged. “Whatever your cooking smells lovely.”

“Why thank you,” Miss Glass responded with a toothy grin.She gestured to the logs. “Please, take a seat.”

The teens nodded and settled themselves on one of theother logs. Flit sat at the end of the other one, near Bryn, while Rascal cameover and lay down at his master’s feet. Miss Glass soon started to pour thecontents of the pot into bowls and pass them around. It looked to be some kindof soup and did indeed smell delicious. It also tasted just as good. Both Benand Iley were quick to accept the bowls and start to spoon some into theirmouths. As the warm and absolutely delectable liquid hit their tongues theycouldn’t help but hum and eat greedily. It had been a few days since they’d hada proper meal after all. Soon the two were finished, Ben even tipping the bowl intotheir mouth and slurping up the last of the contents. Iley sighed as she placedthe bowl in her lap, looking over at the tabaxi who was slowly stirring thesoup again.

“Thank you so much Miss Glass,” the small brunette said,stomach sated. “That really was lovely.” Ben gave a gruff whine and boof ofagreement. Bryn giggled, his soup dripping down his muzzle as he was lapping itup from the bowl rather than with the spoon, which was held in a meaty pawedfist.

“Told Ben and Iley. Miss Glass make yummy food.”

“That you did buddy,” Ben said with a grin, tailwagging. 

“I hope y’all will be sticking around for the showtonight!” Jack said, dropping his spoon in his empty bowl.

“If you’ll have us,” Iley said with a grin.

“We’d be happy to help set up in exchange,” the wolf-kinadded. 

“You don’t have to,” Flit said as she gave Miss Glass thebowl back and grabbed a cloth from a rack. She went over to Bryn and started togently wipe his mouth, the gnoll squirming and giggling in that high pitchedwhooping way. “But if you don’t have anything better to do then you’re morethan welcome to stick around.”

“Honestly,” Iley said as she let Jack take her bowl, Bendoing the same, “we were only planning to shop and rest while here. But we’dmuch rather help you out here.” Flit looked as though she might try to arguebut Bryn beat her to it.

“Ben help Bryn!” he shouted excitedly, “Bryn show Bentent!” The wolf-kin grinned, ears straightening with delight.

“I think Mr. Bryn has spoken.”

For the rest of the day the kids helped out around thecircus. Ben used their werewolf strength, something that greatly pleased andimpressed both Bryn and Jack, to set up some of the larger set pieces andlugging around the heavier objects. Iley helped set up the lights with Mrs Avo,both using magic to create balls of light inside glass jars that hung alongropes, and Flit with props. 

When night drew in, patrons to the circus started to filethrough the ticket booth and into the big top. Ben and Iley were already set upin, according to Bryn, the best seats in the house. Both were excited. It hadbeen a long time since they’d done anything like this in their downtime. 

The show was amazing. Magic acts, acrobatics,contortionists, clowns - so much variety. Jack did his strong man act whichincluded juggling large weights. Flit did an act with Rascal that involved thewolf doing tricks and the elf incorporating her bow. Ben and Iley wereenthralled the entire time and gave the circus a standing ovation.

Once the show was over, and all the other customers hadleft, Ben and Iley told the performers just how much they had enjoyed the show.Flit had smiled, a very slight blush colouring her cheeks.

“Thank you very much.”

“How long are you all here for?” Iley asked.

“A week,” the elf replied. “You can keep hanging out hereif you like. Bryn has really enjoyed your company.”

“If it isn’t too much trouble,” Ben said, but Flit wasquick to interject. 

“I wouldn’t have offered if it was.”

The half-elf and wolf-kin looked at each other with bigsmiles. This was definitely turning out to be their best ‘vacation’ to date.

Over the course of the week Ben and Iley continued tohelp the circus and share meals with them, only going back to the inn to sleep.For the last few performances the two even got to join in on the acts. Thewolf-kin shifted to their natural wolf form and teamed up with Rascal and Flit,while the mage was paired up with Mrs Avo to do magic with her. The public wentwild and the kids got a big thrill about performing in this way. It was muchbetter than any other way they’d been made to before.

However the week soon came to an end. Ben and Ileycouldn’t help the circus break down their things, having to take care of anumber of things before they headed off on their own path, but they did makesure to stop by before the crew left. They wanted to say goodbye.

Bryn hobbled over to the pair, ears folded and mouthdownturned, his seeing eye filled with sadness.

“Do Ben and Iley have to go? Ben and Iley could stay withcircus.”

The teens looked at each other. They knew the circus washeading East. And East was not the direction they wanted to go in. 

“Sorry buddy,” Ben said, voice just as sad, “We have ourown adventures we need to go on.” Iley nodded.

“Ben’s right Bryn.” The gnoll whined and leaned on hiscrutch heartbroken. Ben licked their lips and crouched down in front of him,reaching into their pocket.

“Hey buddy, we have something for you though.” Brynlooked up, eyes widening as the wolf-kin pulled something out. It was a smallflower attached to a chain. The petals were a gold and silver metal, curvedaround and sanded so all edges were blunt. In the middle of it was a clear andperfectly polished spherical gem, a droplet of red and blue inside it. “We knowyou like flowers so I made you this little trinket. Iley then put some magic init. If you keep it then we’ll always be with you. And if you want to find us,or know where we are, Mrs Avo can use it to scry for us and send us a message.That way we can come visit.”

Ben reached up and tied the little flower to Bryn’scrutch, the metal hanging in amongst the real ones. The gnoll stared at itenthralled for a long moment before he surged forward and hugged the wolf-kintight. The werewolf hugged back, burying their nose into his fur. He smelt of abonfire, flowers and sweets. After a long moment Ben leaned back and pressedtheir forehead to his. Bryn seemed to relax a bit and gave a happy hum. It feltnice. 

The werewolf finally pulled away and patted the goll onthe shoulder. They moved aside so Iley could hug Bryn too, shifting their focusto Flit. She held out a hand and Ben took it, giving it a shake. The elf smiledsoftly at them.

“Thank you.” The wolf-kin grinned.

“Oh, we didn’t forget about you.” At her frown Benreached into their quiver and pulled out five arrows. The shafts were made of ash,the heads dragon bone, and the fletching was half red and half blue. “I madethe arros, Iley did the fletching.”

Flit seemed awed, carefully taking the arrows. She staredat them reverently before hugging Ben as well. They stiffened at first before returningthe gesture. When she pulled back they quickly pressed their forehead againsthers for a second, before pulling away. Flit gave a gentle smile. She knew whatthat meant. She and Bryn were now pack.

The elf gave Iley a quick hug too before ushering Brynonto their cart. Rascal gave a bark, one which Ben returned. The lead wagonkicked their horses into motion and the circus began to head out. The duo wavedat Bryn until the convoy was out of sight. 

Once they were gone Ben swiped at their cheeks. Ileyopened her mouth to tease them but the wolf-kin playfully shoved her and gave asoft growl. Iley laughed and gestured towards the road. They had to getgoing. 

As they had said, they had their own adventures to go on.

My target audience for millennium http://millennium.spiderforest.com/ was and is LGBT youth. Specifically teens. I know when I was a kid reading a story where gay people are just kind of... There? No jokes, no stereotypes, more than one... That would have helped me a lot. So I'm trying to make that for other kids! I think the story has reached a much wider/older audience then I intended, but I know it has helped at least some LGBT youth/young adults and that's all I could ever ask for.(edited)

The target audience for Ghost Junk Sickness is definitely queer youth and young adults! Much like what @Deo101 (Millennium) is saying, basically we wanted something like the cool action scifi comics we read when we were younger with good queer rep that's integrated and normalized in the universe! As it turned out though, the audience we reached has been all over the place ranging from older women to big biker dudes?? Every time we go to cons we can never guess who'll purchase a book because the range is so varied! I'm sure we still reach the original target to an extent but the rest is all over the map it seems! I don't think it's a bad thing, it's just been pretty unexpected

Lol, I feel the similarly way about my own story. My goal was definitely to make something me as a kiddo would have loved, which essentially would have been shonen stories but with a female majority cast. I think I already figured my target audience would be similar to me, but I've been consistently surprised by how many male identifying folks like it. I guess I do like that they can hang though X) Anyway, these are my floppy, post work out thoughts. Hopefully they make sense.

The target audience for Phantomarine (http://www.phantomarine.com/) was never super clear from the beginning - I just wanted to make something I'd like as a teen. Luckily (or unluckily! in terms of describing it to people ) the story is a mishmash of a bunch of different genres. It's not quite a ghost story, not quite a pirate adventure, not quite a fantasy epic, but it has elements of them all. And it does seem to have attracted people who like those different genres. It may not be easy if I ever want to publish it properly (it's a little difficult to describe my 'brand' ) but as it is, it's got everything I would have liked when I was between 14 and 18.

My happiest surprise is hearing about the younger kids who have read it, understood it, and really enjoyed it. Knowing that 10-12 year olds can appreciate my work is really awesome. I try to keep the language and scary/questionable content at Harry Potter levels, but I like having some of the depth/maturity of stories like The Golden Compass. If they like Phantomarine now, I really hope they find extra enjoyment with it as they grow up. It's going to be a ride!

Gosh, I get that feel of being multi-genre and not knowing quite how to describe your Brand X') I feel like I've gotten better at defining it over time but it's still a struggle to briefly describe what my thing even is some days. Also Golden Compass I'm always excited to find other comic folks who were also influenced by that series.

The target audience for Heart of Keol (https://heartofkeol.com/) is extremely tiny, but it does have appeal for people outside of that niche. I make it for myself, and the relevant aspects of "myself" here are: a) Grew up in Korea, is living (or has lived for an extended period of time) in a predominantly English-speaking part of the world b) Bonus points if they spent some time living in rural Korea c) Is into slow burn drama about characters who could be described as being "genuine" and probably "lawful" as well d) Likes the aesthetics of fantasy settings, but is more into the mundane, almost slice of life, side of drama e) Is very much into reading between the lines for more emotional stuff. Reads a lot of heart from sceneries, possibly more than from faces. (I have face blindness and this affects how I experience comics both as a reader and as a creator)

Obviously people who meet both a) and b) are gonna be harder to find! But if one can meet c), d) and e), that's enough to enjoy the comic the way it's meant to be enjoyed, or so I hope.

The reason a) and b) matter is because it affects how the setting/aesthetics come across. To someone like me, the old Korea setting feels homey, warm, nostalgic. It's like a shorthand for "sit down and enjoy this heartfelt slow burn tale." But to others, Magical Asia might feel exciting and exotic, which isn't really what the story is meant to be, so there may be some dissonance.

My target audience is kind of all of the place. Initially when I began scripting my comic, Whispers of the Past, I was really into anime and manga, especially ones like Attack on Titan that were a gritty fantasy. However, since then, my style and story have changed tremendously. My target audience now tends to be young women, aged 15-25, who enjoy detailed world building in high fantasy and are definitely into family drama in story telling. Initially, I wrote the story to fit certain perameters that I myself enjoyed. For example, I am particularly obsessed with the idea of the mundane meeting the fantastical and amazing. The quiet lull of ordinary life juxtaposed by the rigor of magical entities. I specifically focus a lot on drawing beautiful artwork for the panels, because I myself am a picky-pants when it comes to selecting comics I want to read. Another one of my obsessions is a fantasy setting so detailed that you feel like if the story ended, the world would still live on. (One of my inspirations was the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini, in which the author essentially wrote several languages, similar to Tolkien.) In reality, my readers tend to be women aged 30+ (probably who watch k-dramas like I do), and a lot of D&D players. It's fun really, discovering how much of my own hobbies bleed into my stories.

Early on with AntiBunny http://antibunny.net/ I was hoping for fans of scifi and film noir. What I got were fans of classic cartoons and furries. Which is fine by me really. Furries are nice people who are passionate about their hobbies (and spend money).

A superhero audience was always the intention for J-Man (http://jonnyalekseydrawscomics.com/the-undefeatable-j-man/), but specifically, right now, I'm aiming for something all ages. Slightly teen drama, cartoony but grounded. My inspirations were Spectacular Spider-Man and the DCAU so anyone who likes that is the readership I expect. Hopefully I can reach people who are on the fence about superheroes. The all ages aspect is something newish relatively speaking. When I started my webcomic I wanted to stay away from the "deep real edgy" tone I made when I was in high school (shiver). It took me a bit to really get that tone down. I don't use curse words and only mild blood, but occasionally stuff that borders on teen+ go through. (there's one instance in #5 where J-Man's face gets burnt by the villain that might've been a bit much) I don't think the all ages banner is going to restrict me from telling certain storylines/character development. Just means it won't be excessively grim.

Erin/Leif & Thorn on Kickstarter

The target audience for my webcomics is LGBT nerds who want stories that give them strong feelings, and who like SF/F, anime, competent characters that don't have to take turns with the Idiot Ball to keep the plot moving, and cats. Admittedly that last bit might be redundant, since everyone on the internet likes cats.

I’ll be honest with you, I’m the target audience of my comic. (http://www.fwmgofficial.com/) it’s not out yet (it’ll be out October 31st) but as the writer I’ve had a lot of time to think about it. Mostly, it’s just targeted to young adults and autistic people. I never got to see people like me in comics, so I wrote a comic where an autistic person can be the hero too, even in his own way. For me, I figure whoever likes it likes it and that’s good enough for me. (also furries. Definitely targeted furries)

Pornhub’s Content Purge Has Left Fetish Creators Wondering What’s Next

Before the purge that disappeared more than 75 percent of content on the platform, Pornhub hosted a lot of videos and photos that weren’t humans having sex. There were full-length movies, memes, and video game playthroughs that you might see on a non-adult site like Twitch, but there was also a ton of animation, 3D renderings, audio erotica, music videos, fanfic from furries and bronies, and stop-motion animation like LEGO minifigs fucking. 

Pornhub became a dumping ground and safe harbor for a lot of stuff, and a lot of these creators didn't necessarily want to upload a photo of themselves to a huge porn corporation's database in order to get verified. They were just throwing things on the site for fun, to share with others in their respective communities, and the wider world. Compared to a site like Milovana (an adult message board and the birthplace of Cock Hero, videos of which are mostly gone from Pornhub now) or the furry fan art forum e621, Pornhub was a way to reach a more mainstream audience. With last week’s action, a lot of that stuff is now gone.

For victims of abusive imagery and non-consensual porn, as well as anyone who's had to deal filing takedown requests for pirated content uploaded to Pornhub, the removal of unverified content is a positive: between Pornhub's new policy for only allowing content partners and performers in the model program to upload and download, and the retroactive suspension of all this content pending review, the platform seems to be making long-overdue changes that sex workers and victim advocates alike have asked for. But by applying a blanket solution to a complex problem, it's caught small, independent creators from niche communities in its net. 

Several creators told me that Pornhub's damage-control scramble has created issues for verified users, locked many unverified creators out of their own content, and left many more wondering whether there's even a future for indie and fetish works on the site.

“It was a betrayal”

In a month when sex on the internet is being attacked from all sides—from Instagram's new terms of service, to TikTok kicking sex workers off the platform, to payment processors leaving Pornhub—some creators are concerned that losing one of the most popular porn sites in the world as a platform is another blow against fetish and outside-the-mainstream content on the internet as a whole. 

For a lot of creators, Pornhub's melting pot was a source of inspiration for artists, Lifty and Sylox, hosts of the Furry Frequencies podcast, told me in an email. "Many of the videos that were uploaded onto Pornhub from the furry community were sexual videos of furries partaking in sexual acts in fursuit," they said—which could include videos of furries in fullsuit with ���strategically-placed holes” performing solo or with one or more partners. "Some furries perform with just their fursuit head, handpaws, and feetpaws to provide better nude content. An unverified, but significant amount of this content catered to specific fetishes of the furry community, such as feet fetishism or watersports." 

"Furries won't abandon PornHub immediately," Lifty and Sylox said, noting that more creators will likely migrate to Onlyfans or communities like Furaffinity to post content. "Changes like this tend to take time before the effects can be measured… PornHub's status as a repository for one-stop furry porn content will eventually diminish significantly." 

It's not just illustrators and furries who have lost Pornhub as a platform in the last week. Audio erotica creator Goddess By Night told me that she lost all of her content—about 40 videos. She's been making audio erotica for five years, and in the last two she'd made a business out of it. She makes Gentle Female Dominant and Dominant Mommy-themed stories, as well as Futanari role play and other kink-related fantasies.

"Most of my work is a niche within the adult entertainment industry, and Pornhub allowed me to reach a broader audience, so it’s a pretty significant loss," she said. "However, my community has been incredibly supportive and intend to follow me to the next platform(s) I choose. I don’t plan on returning to Pornhub because of this. It was a betrayal, especially to the loads of creators they explicitly welcomed after Tumblr’s ban two years ago. I know some creators who lost work that they may never get back because Pornhub didn’t offer a grace period."

Each of the creators I talked to, whether they were verified or unverified, said that they weren't given any warning before Pornhub's content suspension took place. Pornhub used the word "suspension," not "deletion," and told Motherboard at the time of the suspension announcement that this meant content would be "removed pending verification and review." 

Creators whose content was removed saw a message in place of their uploads that explained the video was "flagged for verification" and invited them to apply for the Model Program or Content Partner Program in order to re-enable the videos, or wait for the new verification process to start in 2021.

They were locked out of their own content at that point and were unable to even download it from the platform.

When Tumblr removed all NSFW content from its platform in December 2018—similarly for allegations it hosted child sexual abuse imagery, but also to appease Apple—the social media platform gave creators about two weeks of notice to get their stuff off the site. Pornhub's announcement came at 7 a.m. EST on a Monday and went into effect immediately. By the time most people saw the news, the suspensions were underway, and more than 10 million uploads were gone by 9 a.m.

This is especially bitter news for creators who, in 2018, took Pornhub up on its invitation to move to the platform from Tumblr.

"Amusingly [Pornhub was] very happy to take advantage of the Tumblr refugees back when all that went down, inviting us to upload all our galleries there," adult content illustrator IzzyBSides told me in a Twitter message. "I think most of us on Twitter know we're living on borrowed time, people have backup accounts set up and occasionally plug them to their followers letting them know to follow it in case their main account randomly disappears overnight."

Because the mass suspensions were meant as a broad solution to get unlawful, abusive content on the site under control, allowing users to download their content would miss the point of stopping the spread of any abusive imagery. But the move also meant that a lot of content that wasn’t abusive and fell well within Pornhub's terms of service was removed in the process. People didn't have the chance to choose whether they wanted to pack their bags and go elsewhere. If they want to recover their own content, they'll have to play by Pornhub's verification rules, which have yet to be announced and won't start until sometime early next year.

One animator who asked to remain anonymous told me that they lost about 20 videos, "including story animations, which I loved very much …This was sad for me as the videos were deleted without warning," they said, but added that they luckily had a backup of their videos saved to their hard drives. "However, I didn't have any income from Pornhub, so it's okay, the videos are saved and I'll just move them to another site." 

That illustrator wasn't verified, but even being a verified user didn't save some people from the purge. Pornhub's policy changes were intended to skip over verified accounts, but some users still saw their verified content taken down.

“Sex workers are under attack everywhere”

Another confusing aspect of Pornhub's cleaning spree is the effect it has had on verified creators and performers. Many have reported on Twitter that some of their verified content has been disappeared, seemingly at random, even while other uploads have stayed online. Others in the comments of Pornhub's own verification policy page say that they were verified, but now they aren't. From the outside, there seems to be no consistent reasoning for this. 

Before the policy changes, there were three types of verification, according to Pornhub: Content partners, users in the model program, and verified users. The last category is now gone, and only uploads by models and content partners remain. The users reporting verification issues were likely in that last category—verified based on the old standards Pornhub used, which involved sending Pornhub a selfie with your face and holding up a sheet of paper with your name written on it. Those users are all now unverified. But inconsistencies remain.

Riley Cyriis, a performer who's been verified on Pornhub for more than a year, told me that most of her free videos and around 40 of 120 paid videos were removed, along with 20 videos she had set to private, only viewable by her. 

"My best guess would be certain tags, like 'teen' or 'daddy,' but it's really just a guess," she said. "The majority of flagged videos were my most successful ones ranging from 200k to 700k views, so maybe it's just how they came up? My profile is pretty obviously made by a real person and I listed my age publicly."

She wasn't using Pornhub as a main income source (although many performers do), so she's planning to focus more on other platforms like Onlyfans and Manyvids. 

Pornhub has said that it will restart the verification with new requirements in 2021. But the gap is a long time to wait if you're losing an audience and relied on the site for income. Many performers have already lost significant income due to Mastercard and Visa's decision to drop Pornhub. Performer Mary Moody said in a video about the payment processing news that she was making enough money from Modelhub to cover rent each month.   

And the verification process, which still hasn't been clarified publicly by Pornhub, could bring up new issues for anyone who wants to get their content back. IzzyBSides said that they'd received verification rejections before Pornhub's content purge, because their avatar—a fire sprite—obviously doesn't match their real-life face. The reason Pornhub gave for their rejection the last time, before the content suspensions, was that their avatar didn't match their verification photo. "We need to see your face to confirm," Pornhub's customer service email to them said. According to Pornhub, this method of verification is now outdated.

It's unclear how verification will work in the future, but Pornhub has said that identification of some kind will be part of the process. There are obviously many reasons that not everyone would want to use their real face as their avatar on a porn website.

"I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get verified with those sorts of requirements," IzzyBSides said, adding that performers who wear masks or keep their faces cropped out of videos would be excluded from verification on these terms. "It would force anyone experimenting out of the closet."

I asked performer Dylan Thomas how a verification system with even more strict requirements for identity could impact trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming content creators and performers. He said Pornhub could avoid excluding these groups by consulting with, and hiring, them to help create the new system. 

"Some of us with intersectional experience in both creative strategy, the digital space and sex work would like nothing more than to serve our community and get everyone back online, generating income and having an enjoyable, safe and sexy time," he said. 

How Pornhub’s new verification policies and process will unfold in practice is yet to be seen, but by including the voices of people who use the site, it could avoid future mistakes—just as it could have avoided this month’s backlash—and listen to the sex workers and content creators who've been asking for things to change for a long time.

"Pornhub was blatant about their disregard to what appeared on the site. But sex workers are under attack everywhere," Cyriis said. "Aside from the payout issues caused by Visa/MC, YouTubers and celebrities are flicking onto our platforms and basically doing whatever they want with no real financial repercussions. The consequences fall squarely on the shoulders of sex workers who built these platforms."
