I'm sorry, but Jason being friends with Dick's friends entirely on his own accord is absolutely golden comedy material. It's not like they'd hang out in one big group all the time, no. A new person means new dynamics. Their friend group overlaps but it's not the same. Maybe Jason is doing something with Donna and Kory while Dick is hanging out with Wally and Roy doing something entirely else and neither of them is aware of it because why would they discuss it in a group chat with all the others. Garth is teaching Jason to surf while Roy is taking pictures and hollering at them under the sunshade because he isn't going to burn, no thank you, meanwhile Dick is having lunch with Babs.
It goes like this for a while until Dick asks Kory if she wants to hang out with him and Wally, and Kory is like sure! We're having a Musical Movie night! You can come down as well!
And Dick and Wally turn up with more snacks and walk into the room and Roy waves at him to come sit next to him, and just as Dick is about to do so, his eyes meet up with the person sitting on the other side of Roy.
"Jason?"
"Hi Dick."
"What are you doing here??"
".....having a movie night, that's what everyone here is doing. Did you get a concussion from the whiplash of Wally running you up here?"
"No, I mean, why are you here?"
"Watching movies with my friends, are you okay??"
"No! Why are you invited to our movie night?!"
"Hey! I was here first, you are the one who wasn't originally invited!"
Dick is appalled.
"You can come sit with us, Jay", Kyle calls from the other couch and pats the space next to him and Connor. "Dick can have Roy for the night."
"What? No!"
"What do you mean 'What? No!' Are you saying you would rather sit with Jason than me?"
".....well-"
"What the fuck-!"

Milagro Colin first date 💕
D’aw!
(For the record—She asked him out 😂😂)
———————
When Milagro had marched into the living room that afternoon, head held high, and asked him out, Colin had no idea what to expect. Dinner for sure—he needed almost as many calories as the twins, and Milagro definitely loved her food too. But he expected a diner or even a nice-ish sit down restaurant.
Instead she’d taken him to a hidden gem—a food truck with the best tacos and fajitas he’s ever had. Of course, as a New Jersey boy, his option doesn’t matter quite as much as the Texan latina in front of him. But she’d told him how she and her brother found this place years ago. How it’s a secret no one else on the teams know. Except him now. He’s not sure why, but that makes his heart flutter.
Conversation came easy to them. Once they got past school stuff, they’d geared toward the various hero gossip. At the moment, the giant crush their teammates, Jai and Lian, have on each other.
“I swear they’re blind!” She laughs, “Like Jai’s always liked her, but I swear Lian’s become more oblivious. I think she should just tell him.”
“She could dance naked in front of him, still wouldn’t click.” They both laugh, knowing their friends will figure it out sooner. Setting his tinfoil to the side, Colin leans forward, arms resting on the table, “So, Mil, I gotta ask—Why ask me out?”
She smilies, mimicking his posture, “Would you think less of me if I said it’s because you got hot this summer?”
“Absolutely not, worked hard for the glow up.” He teases, then sobers, “That’s not the whole reason though, is it?”
Sighing, Milagro picks at one of the chips, “I love the others but…I don’t think they understand what it’s like to be…forced…into this life. Like, I know some of what Damian went through, but….they all grew up surrounded by heroes. For them, it was carrying on a legacy. But I was 10 when the ring chose me.”
“What do you mean?” Colin asks. His hand covers her across the table. Goosebumps prickle her skin, despite the warm night.
“The rings choose their wearer. Each colors different, but for the Green Lantern Corps, it’s willpower. Being able to overcome great fear. Not being not afraid. Being afraid and doing it anyway.” She sighs, “A new wearer is chosen after the last one dies. Got to learn that in front of the league…”
They sit in a comfortable silent, Milagro remembering how scared she was, her brother reassuring her everything would be okay. Colin speaks softly, “How long had Jaime been back?”
She blinks at him, “A few months, why?”
“That’s why you got your ring. Your parents said you were the one person who never gave up that he was alive. I can’t imagine how scary it must have been. You never gave up and never let anyone tell you what to believe. Still don’t. It’s something I admire about you.”
“Not scarier than Bane and Scarecrow—”
“Don’t do that.” His words are soft, but firm, “What I went through doesn’t minimize your pain.”
“…If you could go back, stop it from happening, would you?”
Colin considers the question, “No. For a bunch of reasons. The biggest one is the team itself. I agree with you…The others never really had to think about what a regular life would be like. Well…Jon maybe but I don’t think that lasted long. But…do you remember the first Christmas as a team?”
She nods. Images of his face when he walked in to a pile of presents—clothes, shoes, decorations, toiletries, games and toys— make her smile. He’d hugged every adult there, trying not to cry. Her mother held his face and told him God has a plan for his life.
“The parents didn’t have to do that for me. But they did. I have so many adults who love me now. Like when I wonder about my parents and why they left, I call Dick. When I need homework help, Wally or Clark. Hell, Bruce made sure I got tested for dyslexia to help me out. And when I’m angry at God, I can call Roy and Jason to let out steam.”
His last confession sits between them. On their team, there’s a mix of religious beliefs, but Colin and Milagro are both Catholic. They usually pray to themselves before each meal, or listen to Mass in their rooms on Sundays. She knows he lives in an Catholic orphanage but…she’s never heard anyone else talk about being angry at God.
“I get angry at God too.” She admits. “Just…with everything that we’ve seen and been through…I want to scream when people say ‘he gives the hardest task to his strongest soldiers.’ I want to scream at them that God expects too much from children.”
“I know.” He agrees, squeezing her hand, “There’s times when I answer a domestic call or save a kid from an abusive family. People say how lucky it is I was there. But why does it have to happen? I was one of those kids. I didn’t need some superhero to save the day. I just needed someone to notice.”
More silence, then he shakes his head, “When I get older, I want to be a foster dad. I want to be who I needed to kids like me. Even if I’m not a hero anymore. I can still help.”
“But for now?”
“For now I will use the powers vested upon me to protect and serve. Besides,” He gives her a flirty grin, “If I never got my powers, I wouldn’t have met you. That alone is worth it.”
A smile spreads over her beautiful face, “Smooth, Wilkes.”
“I try.” He squeezes her hand, “And I mean it.”
“I know you do.” She squeezes his hand back, “Colin?”
“Hm?”
“…Any chance you’re free tomorrow for lunch?”
Laughing, he lifts her hand and kisses it, “If I say yes, you have to let me ask you out next time.”
“Deal.”

Jason Todd x Kryptonian!Reader One-Shot
Word Count: 2.8K Warnings: Angst
Author's Note: I should really post my other Kryptonian reader story. Enjoy the angst! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
She jerked backwards, eyes widening at the sight of the thick, crimson liquid running down her arm. A shudder ran through her, throat seizing up as she tried to suck in air, her other hand coming up to rub at her arm. Suddenly it was on both hands and she stared at them in horror.
A voice called from below her, pained, but firm. “Superwoman…it’s okay. Don’t—ugh—don’t panic. It’s alright.” The voice was soothing at first, but when she looked down to find its owner, the body next to him took up all she saw, a vicious, gaping hole where his heart used to be.
She peddled backwards, stumbling to the floor, apologies falling from her lips. “I’m sor—I’m so sorry. It was just—he was hurting you and I—I didn’t mean to do this, I swear—”
The boy reached out to her but grunted in pain, hand dropping to hold his side. “(Y/N)—”
Her eyes met his once more, and he could see the tears swimming in her gaze as she whispered, “I’m sorry.” She shot from the ground, disappearing in the sky in a blur of red and blue.
He reached for her calling out, “(Y/N)!” He lost sight of her as quickly as she left, and the other two ran up to him.
“Tim!” The taller boy stopped, looking down at the corpse next to him, jaw dropping in shock. “…Oh my god. Wh—what happened?” He looked at the other. “Tim?”
He shook his head, eyes meeting the shorter one. “Bart, I need you to get to Central and find Wally and Dick and tell them to get to the cave.” Bart nodded and spun, taking off in a flash of yellow lightning.
The other boy knelt, picking him up off the ground. “Tim, what happened?”
He groaned, hand moving to hold his side once more. “(Y/N) killed him on accident.” Tim looked at him. “Conner, I can get back to the tower on my own, but I need someone to get to Jason.” He sucked in a breath, reaching up and wiping the blood from his nose though it still bled despite him. “Kori and Roy will probably be with him, but right now, we need everyone who can search.”
Conner nodded, steadying Tim on his feet before rising from the ground; he looked down at him. “Do you know where she went?”
Tim shook his head, grimace crossing his lips as he muttered, “I don’t think we’re gonna find her for a long time.” He glanced up at Conner. “Go. Now.” The boy nodded, flying off, and Tim took a few steps forward before stumbling into a wall. He heaved a sigh, picking up his transmitter from his belt.
He pushed a button, and a few seconds later, a voice came over the line. What’s going on?
Tim frowned and asked, “What’s your E.T.A. to earth?”
Eighteen hours. What happened?
Tim glanced back at the body, the puddle of blood seeming to consume it. “It was (Y/N). She… she killed someone.”
The voice on the line was silent, then it said, Superman is on his way. Call me when he gets there.
The line went dead, and Tim sighed, sliding down the wall. He lent his head back, eyes staring up at the sky, waiting for (Y/N)’s father.
***Later In The Cave***
The group stood in silence, faces molded in a mixture of shock and pain. Tim yelped as Alfred pushed on his side. “Ow shi—Alfred!”
The man hummed, wrapping the cloth around his side. “Apologies, Master Tim.” He tucked an ice-pack between the layers. “With the broken ribs you’ve got, it would be best to keep ice close. I also advise against any harsh movements.”
Tim nodded, gaze turning to the man beside his oldest brother. “Clark.”
The man looked up from the ground, voice stricken as he lamented, “I can’t hear her. She’s…completely silent…” his eyes held a deep and sorrowed pain. “I can’t hear my baby girl.”
The others listened, then Jason stepped forward, expression grim and solemn. “Tim, what exactly happened in San Francisco today?”
The boy looked over at him before dropping his gaze to the ground, sighing, “What didn’t happen out there, Jason?”
Tim shook his head, clearing his throat. “It was a routine mission, patrol the area before getting back to the tower, but Bart called and said that he saw what looked to be a meta-human going on a rampage. We all met up and started fighting, and while it took some time, we managed to get him to an abandoned warehouse complex. Turns out, he not only had super strength, but he could also make copies of himself, and when I figured out that the original was susceptible to damage while he had copies, I sent Conner, Bart, and (Y/N) to fight the copies while I found him.”
He paused, picking at his nails. “What I didn’t expect was for him to throw me into a forklift and break three of my ribs. I tried to get up, but before I could move, his hands were around my throat, and he was lifting me up off the ground.” He absentmindedly reached up, fingers brushing the purple hand-prints around his pale neck. “Everything was happening so fast, and I couldn’t get my bearings in time. My vision started to get dark, and I could hear (Y/N) shouting from behind, and the next thing I knew, I was being dropped again. When I could see and breath clearly again, I looked up, and I saw (Y/N)…I saw her…”
A hand rested on his shoulder, and he glanced up, seeing Conner nodding firmly at him. He let out a breath and said, “And I saw (Y/N) standing there, and the meta-human lying in a pool of his own blood and he had…he had a hole through his chest.”
Quiet gasps were heard around the cave, and Tim looked up at Clark. “It was just an accident Clark, she didn’t mean to do it. She was trying to save me.” The man didn’t look at him, eyes glued to the floor as he swallowed thickly, obviously thinking about what he was just told.
Jason stepped up to Tim. “Do you know where she went?”
Tim shook his head. “No, she took off before I could stop her.”
“So, you’re pretty much saying that she could be anywhere.” Everyone turned their head at the sound of Dick’s voice.
Tim nodded. “That’s why I called everyone here. We need help trying to find her.”
Dick turned to Wally. “You and Bart comb Central.” The two took off, and Dick turned to Kori. “You should take Roy and go check around hideouts the Outlaws frequent.” Kori and Roy made their way to the stairs. “Tim, you sit out and monitor everything. Conner, you can help me and Jason check Gotham. Clark…”
Dick walked over and resting a hand on his arm. “You should go home and tell Lois about what’s happened, then check Metropolis.” Clark nodded, but made no move to go, and Dick squeezed his arm gently. “Clark.” He looked at Dick. “We will find her, I promise.”
Clark nodded again, this time finding his feet; he paused as he reached them and turned to Jason. “Jason?” He turned, waiting for Clark to continue. “I don’t really have any doubt that you’ll be the one to find her tonight…” His voice soft as he asked, “But when you do, will you tell her that I’m not angry at her?” Jason nodded, and they watched Clark leave.
Dick faced them, tone quiet. “Conner, you and I can take North and East Gotham, Jason, you should take South and West.”
They nodded at his words, each moving to the exit. Tim’s voice reached them before they could leave. “Jason! Can you wait for a minute?”
Jason nodded at the others, watching them leave before moving back to Tim. “What’s up?”
Tim hung his head and whispered, “It’s my fault, Jason. I should’ve been more vigilant when I was fighting. If I had gotten up sooner, none of this would’ve happened. I’m sorry—”
A hand rested on his shoulder and he looked up; Jason stared at him seriously. “Tim, it wasn’t your fault. And it wasn’t (Y/N)’s either.” He squeezed Tim’s shoulder gently. “Okay?” Tim nodded and Jason let go, though he saw the tears in Tim’s eyes.
***
Jason crouched atop the ledge staring down at the city, a frown crossing his lips. He didn’t bother to look up at the sound of someone’s boots hitting the rooftop, or when they stopped beside him. “Have you found her?”
He snorted, eyes following a car on the busy road. “Do you honestly think I’d be up here if I had?” He glanced up, seeing Dick slightly grinning at him.
Dick lowered himself on the ledge until he sat next to Jason, legs hanging freely off the edge. The two of them simply stared out at the streets, observing the cars carrying their passengers’ home.
After a few moments, Dick asked, “Where do you think she is?”
He watched Jason shrug and murmur, “I have no idea…I’ve searched everywhere that has any kind of meaning to us and I still can’t find her.” He looked at Dick, eyes filled with trepidation. “I’m worried about her, Dick…she’s all alone out there, thinking about what’s happened, and it’s eating me up.” He shook his head, letting out a sigh. “I shouldn’t have left San Francisco earlier. I should’ve stayed.”
Dick’s eyebrows shot up at his words. “Wait, you were in San Fran earlier today?”
Jason nodded. “Spent the night with her but left in the morning.” He thumped the heel of his armored boot against the wall. “I could’ve stopped that meta and she wouldn’t have done anything.”
“You’re really torn up about her killing someone, Jason.”
Jason turned to Dick, shouting. “Of course I am!” He placed a hand against his chest. “I kill bad people because they’re evil and they deserve it. I wouldn’t want (Y/N) or any of the people I care about to follow the path that I do.” He paused, voice lowering. “(Y/N) is…a good person. She’s kind and caring and she loves everyone with everything she has. She protects those that are innocent and protects those she loves even more fiercely.”
He sighed heavily, his voice lowering to a whisper. “I’d never want her to have to think about the people she kills like I do.”
“You’re telling me you actually think about the people you kill?”
Jason let out a mirthless laugh, his gaze returning to the city. “Contrary to popular belief and what you see when you look at me, I am not a heartless killer, Dick. I know the consequences of my actions, and believe me, I think about them every moment I’m alive.” He stood and looked down at his brother. “I’m going to hit my apartment and take a nap before getting back out there.”
Dick nodded, observing him as he started climbing down the ledge; he called out to Jason. “She’s really changed you in the year you’ve been together.”
Jason snorted, “Don’t tell anyone, I’ve got a reputation to keep.” He paused, hand gripping the ledge as he replied, “ But yeah she has… and only in the best ways, Dickhead.”
“Hey!”
***
The apartment was quiet, just as he’d left it the day before, and he shucked his helmet and jacket off, placing them on the table. He bent over, undoing the laces from his boots, kicking them off before reaching up and pulling his domino mask off, raising a hand to rub the fatigue from his eyes. It was a futile attempt to delay the inevitable, and as he made his way to his room, he mentally took note of how long he needed to sleep before getting back in the field to look for her.
As he walked through the hallway, a quick intake of air sounded through the apartment, and Jason reached to his hip, pulling a pistol. He stepped carefully through the hall, checking the rooms before he came up to his bedroom. Sucking in a quiet breath, he stepped into the room, gun following his gaze as it landed on a huddled mass beside the window.
He walked silently over to it, and upon closer inspection, his eyes widened, voice laced with disbelief as he questioned, “(Y/N)?”
She raised her head, eyes red rimmed and bloodshot. “Jason?” she whispered, unsure of herself.
He lowered the gun, placing it on the nightstand before moving to her, hands grasping her upper arms. “(Y/N), we’ve been looking everywhere for you.” He shook his head. “Why didn’t you call one of us and tell us where you were?” She didn’t respond to him, simply looking down. Jason let go of one of her arms, gently cupping her cheek. “Doll?”
He felt something wet drip onto his hand, and finally, she sat up straight and stared at him. The blanket she’d been covered with fell away, and his gaze dropped to her arms. His eyes widened at the sight of the faint red smeared across her arm. “(Y/N),” He breathed.
“I kept scrubbing and scrubbing, but no matter how hard or how much I did, it wouldn’t come off.” The tears were rolling down her cheeks now, and she lowered her head. “I didn’t mean to do it Jason. I just…”
Jason reached for her, pulling her into his arms and hoisting her up. He reclined against the headboard, arms wound tightly around her. “Shh…it’s alright…”
“I killed him, Jason.” (Y/N) pulled back enough to look him in the eyes. “I kept yelling for him to let Tim go, but he wouldn’t. I could hear Tim’s heartbeat fading and I just reacted.” She gazed at her arm. “I put my arm through his chest, Jason!” (Y/N) stared at her arm as if it didn’t belong to her body, an alienated limb, then she felt herself being lifted again. “Jason what—”
He said nothing, maneuvering her into the bathroom where he sat her on the sink. She watched as he pulled a rag from the cabinet and reached below the sink for a bottle. He poured the solution into the rag, then gently took her arm, wiping it. His gaze was unreadable, but it was anything but hard; in fact, it was soft, and before she knew it, the remaining blood had been wiped away.
Jason threw the towel into the hamper and turned back to her, cradling her face in his hands. “It’s all gone, (Y/N)…it’s not there anymore.” Her eyes lowered to her arm before they rose back to his, and he pressed his forehead against hers. “You don’t have to think about this anymore, doll.”
“I killed him though, Jason.”
She felt him shake his head and he asked, “What would’ve happened if you hadn’t?” She went silent, and Jason asked again, “(Y/N), what would’ve happened to Tim if you hadn’t protected him?”
Clearing her throat, she whispered, “He would’ve died.”
“No, he would’ve been murdered.” Jason looked in her eyes. “(Y/N),you saved Tim’s life.”
“At the expense of another’s.”
Jason let out a sigh and nodded. “Sometimes that’s the only way…but (Y/N)?” She looked at him and he insisted clearly, “What you did today…does not make you a killer, and it doesn’t make you a murderer…do you understand that?”
(Y/N) blinked at him before looking away and muttering, “…You should call everyone and tell them where I am.”
Jason reached down and picked her up from the sink, flicking off the light and moving to the bed. He lowered her down before crawling under the covers beside her, pulling her to him and raising the covers to their chins.
“I’ll call later.” He pressed his lips to her forehead. “Right now, the only thing that matters is you.” (Y/N) bit her lip to keep from crying, and a moment later, Jason quipped, “Remember that time that you threw me out of a third story window?”
(Y/N) let out a watery laugh, burying her face in his chest. “You’re never gonna let that go, are you, Jason?”
She glanced up at him, and he leaned down, pecking her nose. “If I keep getting a reaction out of it, probably not.”
(Y/N) searched his eyes for a moment then whispered, “I love you, Jason.”
He nodded, pressing his lips to hers. “I love you too, (Y/N).” He curled his arms around her, caging her to his chest. “Get some sleep…I’ll be here when you wake up.”
She did as he said, tucking her head under his chin. “Promise?”
“Cross my heart, doll.”

the justice league often mentioned how close the titans were . they, and later other heroes as well, mused about how no matter who was on the team or which members kept cycling through or whatever horrors and betrayals they’d faced, the five of them stayed remarkably inseparable.
but it had honestly become dick, roy, donna, wally, and garth’s way of life, so they shrugged and moved on with their lives.
even so, with and casual touches commonplace and with each other’s secrets tangling in the air between them, there were some things they don’t talk about. things that would be a little odd, things that don’t need to be brought up again, things that would cause hurt feelings, things that would be funny but awkward. they don’t talk about the time they walked in on garth stapling a bunch of stuffed animals to the ceiling while naked (donna just blinked, then closed the door and walked out). they don’t talk about donna and roy’s relationship, or how roy and dick used to fuck, and how lian had brought out a side to roy that the entire team almost preferred to who he was before (donna and dick had discovered that they liked roy’s protective, sweeping hugs more than his deep kisses anyway). they don’t talk about the veritable mountain of scented creams and massage oils that dick just keeps on buying but never using (garth tried to use them once and dick hissed and threw a spatula at him so the rest of them stay away). and they don’t talk about dick and wally.
roy doesn’t mention the get together that dick likes to call a “meeting” because he wants to keep the team on track, when in reality they’re sitting around eating pizza and watching movies like they used to do years ago, nostalgia heavy and sweet around them. the actor on the tv says a quip paired with a smirk, dick responds with a muttered dirty joke because he’s been spending entirely too much time with red hood, wally snorts and says, “liar, you loved it last night when i–” and dick slams his hand over wally’s mouth. roy just shrugs amidst wally’s muffled laughter, grinning about winning a bet with himself on when dick would finally sleep with the last of his redhead friends.
donna doesn’t say anything when she crashes at dick’s apartment one night, making a pit stop in the rather obnoxiously large new york penthouse while on her way to gateway. she notes all of the photographs dick has randomly framed throughout the rooms with a sense of satisfaction, delight maybe. except she forgot that wally lives with dick now, a temporary arrangement that helps the both of them while wally gets his phd and dick comes to terms with the fact that he’s happy going part time at a liberal arts college and teaching on the side. donna doesn’t really know what wally contributes other than maybe the memorization of dick’s orders at all takeout restaurants in a five-mile radius. still, she doesn’t say anything when she walks past the master bedroom on the way to the guest room and hears relaxed, content laughter through the crack in the door, and she doesn’t say anything when that laughter turns into not-so-relaxed but definitely content moans floating down the hallway. she just snorts and slides her headphones: the big, noise-cancelling kind.
garth doesn’t tease them when wally’s large nyu sweatshirts find themselves wrapped around dick’s frame, the acrobat sighing into the comfort of them. he makes note of the deep black lace from dick’s combat boots threading through the loops of wally’s worn nikes. he laughs a little at the flash keychain dangling from dick’s keyring, one he keeps specifically to irritate bruce. instead, garth tosses some wally’s sweatshirts on dick’s bed when he’s on laundry duty in the tower, and gives wally a couple of dick’s own. he buys them both gag gifts of the others’ symbol on their birthday (and how convenient, read: adorable, is it that the two of them share a birthday?) and makes sure donna snaps a picture of the delighted looks on their faces. the two of them are so goddamn pleased at each one of these instances, so happy, that garth can’t even find it in himself to make fun of them.
roy keeps it to himself when he notices dick and wally sliding into the same side of a booth together at restaurants. usually, donna will sit with them, across from roy and garth, since donna and dick are the physically smallest people on the team, and like any pair of best friends, she’ll sling her arm around his shoulder and he’ll poke her when he’s bored. but lately, there’s always been a little bit of space between the two of them. in contrast, dick’s practically plastered to wally’s side, and wally’s leaning against dick just as much. roy hides his indulgent little smile when the two of them pick food off of each other’s plates, wally sliding his pickles to dick in a smooth movement and dick handing over most of his fries almost instinctually. dick plucks the lemon from his water in an unconscious movement, giving it to wally to suck on, and wally passes dick the hot sauce without dick even opening his mouth. their hands disappear under the table, and roy would bet donna’s swanky-professional-camera that they’re holding hands. he lets them teeter on the edge of they-know-they-don’t-know when the titans are together, because he can’t really stop himself from being the asshole best friend after years of it becoming second nature. but when it’s just the three of them plus lian eating out, he’ll order an extra dessert whenever lian asks, just so the two of them can sit a little longer.
and donna doesn’t say a word when dick starts wearing a ring when he’s in civvies, a priceless looking replica of the flash ring that speedsters keep their suit in. it’s hidden in one of the many secret pockets in dick’s suit when he’s nightwing, but when he’s just dick grayson, he fiddles with it constantly, turning it and roughly tracing over the emblem and switching it between his fingers. donna even keeps quiet when dick shows up at titans tower for a training session with the newer kids with the ring firmly on his fourth finger for the first time. she just heads over to the kitchen, where wally’s making a veritable mountain of scrambled eggs, and wraps him in a hug. wally, in a move odd for the speedster, doesn’t speak in response. he just flushes as red as his hair and hugged donna back, squeezing her hand when she pulls away.
and that gesture is enough. there may some things they don’t talk about because it’s strange or troublesome, but there are also a host of things they don’t talk about because they don’t need to. they’re close enough to understand the significance of what it means anyway.
real talk i have no idea what the fuck this was. i just felt like writing. so. uh. yea.

Old Times
Summary: You find your purpose in hopes of easing your conscious.
Warnings: angst, fluff, this is a part 2/sequel
Reader: Female Reader
Pairings: Dick Grayson x Reader
Word Count: 1,878
A/n: I thought I would tag you two since you mentioned you guys wanted a part two; @pleasestophoney @graysonswonder
Masterlist - Part One (Eight Year)
Tumblr media
Fuck whoever said knowing was the better choice. Knowing sucked and you wished that you were back to being in the dark about the things you’ve done. Sure, when you couldn’t remember your mind filled in the blanks for you. You would imagine what you had done. You’re imagination was far more merciful compared to the truth.
Your memories returned to you mainly at night, although you got flashes during the day if you were ‘lucky’. As time passed you became more and more aware of how dangerous and deadly you had become. In the last eight years, you were a merciless killing machine that made the Joker look like a fucking kitty cat.
The more you remembered the more you considered handing yourself over to the members of the League that wanted your head. You understood their need for revenge. Hell, if someone had done to you what you had done to them, you’d be demanding justice yourself.
You shared your father’s rule of no killing, at least you did before you were taken, but you knew you’d break that rule if someone killed anyone in your family. In fact, if you weren’t so scared of reverting into a mindless beast you would have torn the Joker apart for killing Jason. But you feared if you killed him, you wouldn’t be able to stop yourself.
“What’re you doing out here?” Dick questions groggily. You turn your head just enough to see him in your peripheral vision. You had been sitting on the balcony of your shared apartment in Bludhaven for a couple of hours now.
It was one of the rare nights Dick had come home early. Bludhaven was quiet thus prompting Dick to return home to you sooner than usual. Since your return a couple of months ago, Dick continued being Bludhaven’s Nightwing.
You weren’t ready to join him as Nightshade. Although, that didn’t stop you from using your enhanced hearing to keep track of him. If he was in a trouble he couldn’t get out of, you could get to him within a minute. Luckily he hasn’t needed you yet. You doubted he would. He has survived eight years without you.
You felt guilty for not staying in bed with him. You only got him to yourself so often but you didn’t want to keep him up with your restlessness. He needed his sleep.
Dick joins you on the patio loveseat. He looks at you before sliding his arm around your waist. You shuffle as he pulls you onto his lap. His natural warmth engulfs you. You almost moan as you settle into his comforting embrace.
“I have the day off tomorrow,” Dick mutters, resting his head on yours. You hum snuggling closer to him.
“You have the day off or you’re taking the day off?” You wonder.
“Either way you’ve got me all day tomorrow... later today,” He corrects himself noticing that it’s technically early morning instead of late at night.
“You don’t have to take off work to babysit me,” You mumble.
“I don’t have to do anything but I want to spend the day with you tomorrow,” He tells you. Having grown up with his stubbornness, you let it go. “It’s gonna be a sunny day. I thought I’d take you to a market in the next town over,” A small smile comes to your lips. “Do you wanna try and get some more sleep?
“I was actually debating pouring a stiff drink,” You admit. “I’m gonna have to see if Wally will talk to me and give me some of that strong shit he drinks cause what you have tastes like water,” Dick scoffs.
“You used to get fucked off of three beers,” Dick mutters.
“Then I got super metabolism and cheap drinking went out the window,” You grumble. Dick kisses the crown of your head.
“I’ll give him a call,” He whisper.
“Diana sent you an email while you were asleep,” You tell him. He hums questionably. “They’re making a memorial for the fallen... I wonder if they’ll ask me to be a guest speaker,” You snark sarcastically. Dicks grip around you tightens. “I guess they figured since I’m ‘back-to-normal’ there won’t be anymore mass superhero killings,” Your eyes become misty. “She was nice enough to put a list attachment,” You voice shakes. “Katherine, John, Oliver... Donna,” You clench your eyes as you slowly breakdown.
“Hey, hey, stop,” You shift to straddle his waste. You cling to him, your head falling into his neck. He pets the back of your head and rub circles into your back. “Shh, sweetheart, it’s alright,” You try to keep collected even though you’re falling apart. “Y/n, look at me.. Please, baby,” You reluctantly pull from his neck. He presses his head against yours. “Tell me what to do, how can I help?”
You didn’t know how to answer, so you just move your head back to the crook of his neck. His arms lock around you as tightly as he can hoping that he can hold you together.
How could you come to terms with what happened? It’s not like there’s a shrink that could be trusted with the information in your mind. It’s not like that many people knew what you were going through. You just wanted to be normal again.
When you calmed down, Dick continued to hold you tightly. You would sniffle here and there but other than that neither of you made any noise. When you slowly began to drift off, Dick stood from the loveseat. His hands held you securely to his chest as he carried you back to bed.
When you both laid down, you faced each other. There was hardly space between you but enough to look at each other. The light of the moon gave just enough light to be able to see prominent features of his face.
“It won’t be like this forever,” He promises, brushing his fingers across your cheek. Your eyes slowly begin to close.
“Do you think there’ll be an antique shop by the market tomorrow?” You wonder.
“I’m sure we can find one,” He whispers, tugging you to his chest. You snuggle close, lightly kissing his peck.
When the sun rose, neither of your were necessarily in a hurry to leave the comfort of the bed. It wasn’t until a little past noon did you two finally get up. You tried to be uplifting and happy as you went through the market but settled for content and not sobbingly falling apart.
You had nearly a half an hour of peaceful normalcy until you picked up on someone following you. You didn’t know if Dick noticed but you began directing him to a secluded alley. You were halfway down when you sensed something coming toward you.
Instinctively, you spun around and pushed Dick behind you. You hand flew up and caught the red arrow. Toward the end of the alley stood someone you used to get along with but now looked at you with murderous intent. You pushed Dick a good few feet away from you seconds before the arrow exploded. The explosion only singed parts of your outfit.
“Roy!” Dick snapped, glaring at the redhead.
“Why do you get to walk away?” Roy snapped, gripping his bow. “You hunt us down and kill us for eight years.” He snarls.
“That wasn’t her, Roy” Dick tells him. “She didn’t have a choice,”
“How convenient for her,” Roy snaps. You cast your gaze to the ground in shame.
“What are you doing here Roy? What do you want?” Dick asks, standing with you shoulder-to-shoulder.
“I want justice,” Roy snaps. “You don’t get to slaughter people and just walk away,”
“It wasn’t her,” Dick growls, clenching his fists. “She wasn’t in control, she-”
“I’ll stand trial,” You cut Dick off. His head whips around to you. “The league will decide what happens,”
“They’ve already voted on what to do with you,” Dick reminds both you and Roy. “They know you weren’t in control. You’re just as much a victim as the others,” You look at Dick, your mind reeling.
“Then lets get the bastard that pulled my strings,” You say. You turn your head to Roy.
“They’ve already tried finding the ones that took you,” Roy says.
“Yeah, well they didn’t have me,” You tell him. “I have a better chance than anyone at finding them. You want justice? I want redemption. Let’s avenge those that died,” Roy stares at you, obviously intrigued with the idea. “I can’t do it alone, I’ll need help,”
“We’ll need a team,” Dick says. “Those we trust,” He emphasized. The last thing he wanted was someone convinced you were the problem and trying to kill you in your sleep. He would already have his hands full with the mission and keeping an eye on Roy.
“Have anyone in mind?” Roy tilts his head.
“A few,” You mutter.
Within a couple of weeks, your team was put together. You convinced Conner to come so that you would have added muscle and someone strong enough to stand against you should the ones you’re going after rescramble your mind. Wally joined mainly to keep the mood lifted and tensions as low as possible. His naturally happy aurora would hopefully keep Roy from turning against you all and to keep him fighting with Dick.
Plus him and Conner were your friends before all this happened and were the few that remained by your side after all these years.
The last to join was Jason. You added the Joker to the list of people you needed to take down. You wanted him because one, he’s your brother, and two, he’s willing to kill. He knew how to do what needed to be done and most of the people you were going after didn’t deserve a trial nor a second chance.
The six of you were a large and qualified team. You knew not to underestimate you opponent. You knew how to work together. And you all had a reason to fight.
For the first time you felt like you had a purpose, a true and righteous purpose.
“Are you sure you’re up for this?” Dick, dressed in his Nightwing, costume questions stepping up to you. You smile, readjusting your mask.
It didn’t feel right to become Nightshade again. You weren’t that person anymore. You were someone else now. Tim redesigned your costume as you donned a new name.
“This is something I need to do,” You tell him. “I don’t know if it’ll settle the nightmares or ease the guilt but hopefully it’ll give others a sense of closure if we get them and prevent this from happening again,”
“Ok,” Dick mutters, nodding. “If this gets too much, step back and let us handle it,”
“Please,” You smirk. “Without me, you idiots would be running around like chickens without a head,” Dick smirks widely. “Don’t worry so much, baby, it’ll be like old times,” You wink kissing his cheek. The simple kiss isn’t enough for him. His arm instantly slings around your waist and pulls you against him.
Dick presses his lips against yours. You breathe slowly through your nose and lean against him.
“Just like old times,” He murmurs against your lips.

How Iris first had an inkling that Wally had a crush on Dick. Ok so like, bc Star and Gotham are absolutely horrifying during Halloween, Barry is like “I’ll patrol then Iris will take the babies trick or teating”
Originally Wally is really upset bc he wants to go patrolling w his uncle but once he finds out that he gets to hang out w the other hero’s he’s psyched.
So Wally is like 12-13 and dresses up as the flash naturally. Roy is like 14-15 and he’s totally too old for Halloween and over it bc he’s super angsty, and dresses up as like Jason form Friday the thirteenth or some shit bc Black Canary forces him to. Robin only ever celebrated Halloween during his circus days when everyone would paint their face scary and flying Graysons would do aerial ballet show w black fabric so it was like spiders but after that it was just horrifying.
Anyway so Barry picked up this tiny Batman costume and Iris was like “Barry hon, isn’t he like 10? Shouldn’t you get him a bigger outfit?” (He two years younger than Wally, and four younger than Roy) And Barry is like “no trust me babe he teeny”.
Batman shows up to their house followed by a tinsity winsty baby tiny Batman bc Barry ran it over b/f patrol. And wow is that cute. Tiny baby Batman is basically glued to Batman’s side, his teeny little head coming up to Batman’s lower thigh, last time Iris checked 10-year olds aren’t supposed to be that tiny but wow is it adorable. (I’m sorry I just love teeny baby Dickie& giant looming built-like-a-tank batdaddy)
Barry told her what Batman had already explained. That Robin is foreign and doesn’t really know a lot of holiday stuff and also has been severely traumatized the past couple of years and doesn’t really like strangers and knows better than to take anything from strangers.
So it’s obvious that Robin would rather be tied up and drugged w fear gas than in a family aquatintence’s home about to go trick or treating. And Iris is a little resentful of the other boys, hard as she try to be understanding, bc Wally looks so disappointed bc he just wants to have friends and these guys don’t want to have fun.
Anyway Roy is kinda warming up to the whole trick or treating thing but sometimes he can be really mean to Wally but maybe Iris is just overprotective of her boy. Iris takes several pictures during the entire night despite both Batmans being adamant about no photos.
Robin refuses to go up to any house but Iris doesn’t comment on it. She doesn’t want to alienate him, so she doesn’t say anything. She goes up and grabs him a peice of candy but he disappears into the night. She panics for a good couple of seconds but calms when tiny Batman shows up next to Wally and Roy.
She doesn’t try again after that. He likes to walk at the back of the group and every time Iris tries to keep an eye on him, bc he may be a trained hero but central isn’t as safe as smallsville and her parental instincts are going off. Every couple of blocks Wally will try to walk next to him and talk and it’ll work for a while then Robin will slow down and fall behind and Wally’s angelic little baby face gets so sad.
As their trip comes to an end Iris can see Robin wrapping the cape around him tightly w his eyes screwed shut and it breaks her heart a little bc this poor boy must be so uncomfortable and scared that he’s trying to imitate the feeling of his mentors hug. It’s a jarring to imagine Batman hugging anything but she supposes that a baby as cute as that must make even the dark knight just wanna squeeze his sweet rosy, chubby cheeks. She reaches out to place a hand on his head, bc he’s too short to comfortably put a hand on his shoulder.
He jerks back immediately and death glares her, his anger showing full force through the white eyelets. She sent him an apologetic smile and he seemed to unbistle a smidgen.
Once they were finally home Iris watched them from behind the kitchen counter. Wally and Roy were digging into the candy while Robin perched on top of the couch. He kept scratching at his arm, Barry said that it was fine as long as it was controlled. Apparently the poor baby had a pretty serious anxiety disorder and tended to scratch to make himself feel better, it was ok as long as he didn’t have an attack.
She tossed him the single candy across the room, he caught it swiftly in his tiny baby hand. (So cute) Wally shot up to his feet. “That’s not one of my candies right?” Iris smiled, her prefect gluttonous boy. “Nope it’s from your uncles,” it was lie but it didn’t harm anyone. “That’s my backup candy!” Wally cried racing towards the door and snatching up handfuls of candy from the trick or treater bowl. Iris pretend to scold him for being stingy.
Robin slowly unwrapped the candy then examined it breaking off a piece and finally eating the snickers. His eyelets widened comically and he chewed slowly staring down at the candy before shoving the entire (not that fun size is really that big) thing in his mouth. It was absolutely adorable! She wished she had take a video and wondered if this was his first ever candy. (Dick usually just ate cotton candy as a kid, he hadn’t discover cereal yet. But since his parents died he hasn’t had real sugar, Alfred has strict hold on anything sweet in the house and Robin was deemed too energetic already.)
Apparently Wally agreed bc his mouth was wide open and his face was a blotchy-red color. His eyes were filled w what Iris could only discribe as adoration.
Wally swallowed then stood up again. His arms filled w sweets. “Here you can have my candy!” Wally all but shouted at the other boy, he paused for a second looking at his arms, “or we could share,” he suggested instead.
That’s what got Iris, even before his flash experiment Wally has never shared food, not even w his uncle. But here he was offering up some to a boy he hardly knows bc he thinks it’s cute when he eats candy. God she might cry.
Robin smiled at Wally. A real smile, the first one she’s seen all night. “You could still have it all if you wanted!” Wally said again his face turning a couple shades darker and thrusting the candy at robin, who artfully avoided his touch.
“We can share, don’t speedsters need extra calories?” Wally nodded and then proceeded to gather up the rest of the candy scattered on the floor. It was then that Iris noticed that Roy and dipped.
She was slightly panicked. Roy could probably fight for himself but he’s still a baby, a baby that Iris was in charge of. She hurriedly pulled out some blankets and turned on the tv for the boys while she dialed Barry who called Ollie. In a strange turn of events Ollie actually apologized to Iris, saying quote, “Roy’s a little jack-ass of course he snuck off. Don’t worry I’ll find him, probably screwed off to get drunk at some highschool party. Thanks for watching him while you could, I honestly expected him to scurry off a lot sooner.”
It didn’t exactly ease the tension in Iris’ chest but watching those two babies sitting on the couch pass candy back forth watching Charlie Brown specials made her feel a lot better. They were on opposite sides of the couch and Iris could see Wally’s little fingers twitching by his legs, he got up to go to the bathroom and came back only to really casually sit right next to Robin, like basically on his lap.
Robin wiggled up onto the arm of the couch.
“Ok so this ones a Milky Way,” Wally said passing the treat up to Robin.
He popped it in his mouth and chewed. “What’s the difference between this one and the snickers?” He asked, Iris was a little surprised by how good Robins accent was, he spoke like a natural English speaker, which he wasn’t. Every once in a while he’d use a word wrong or mispronounce something, a lit of something would catch on what he was saying but his American accent was pretty flawless.
“Snickers have peanuts, milky ways don’t,” Wally supplied in a duh voice. Robin smiled, “golly, you sure know a bunch about candies. You must be really smart!” And isn’t that so cute! Everyone treats the speedsters like idiots just bc they’re dense but here Robin is picking up on the hidden intelligence like a Batman should. Wally puffed his chest out all proud his face was still all red like a patchy strawberry.
A couple hours passed when Batman showed up. Wearing a different not soaked in fear gas costume, both Iris and Wally were sad to see robin go, well Wally was more devastated. The minute Batman stepped through the front door Robin was disappearing underneath his cape, according to Barry Robin doesn’t like to be more than 3cm from Batman at all times.
“Maybe we can hang out more!” Wally called his blush finally fading. A chipper ok sounded from somewhere in Batman’s cape, (Wally’s face turned scarlet in an instant) at the same time Batman gruffed out a no. Wally’s perfect baby face fell, Batman and Robin left. “Hey don’t worry kiddo I’ll talk to him!” Wally gave a half-hearted smile then went back to his candy eating.
Later he was engrossed in a discussion of patrol w his uncle while they both ate most of central’s candy supply.
As Barry and Iris got ready for bed an hour or so later she turned to him w a mischievous smile. “So it’s seems like Wally’s got his first real crush!” She sing-songed. Barry looked at her confused a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth. “Who?” “Robin” she responded. “That’s doesn’t make any sense!” She signed, somethings speedsters really were dense.

*Batfam fic-recs
*Some are Tim Drake Centric
**Some links are not working in mobile (and ONLY mobile) for some reason? And some titles that were bolded in the original post are ALSO not displaying on mobile correctly. Idk what to do about that, but you can still look up the fic, I guess.
The Bat’s Crest - livierambles
Note: I will always keep recommending this fic. It’s epic, thrilling, and hilarious and sometimes angsty. Also, everyone is confused, including the ones doing the confusing. Maybe especially the ones doing the confusing. Also, some Tim and Damian bonding, which is always nice.
Summary: Tragedy strikes the hero community when Bruce Wayne commits a crime so heinous even the best start asking for blood. However, as the heroes try to recover from the hit and carry out justice for their friends, a random assortment of people start acting oddly, including the current Speedy Tim Drake, a child hostage in Gotham, and a young man from an unremarkable circus amongst others. All of them seem intent on saving Bruce Wayne from the grasp of the Justice League for no apparent reason, going as far as betraying their previous allegiances.
Unknown to the Justice League, these people are equally confused. Clearly they're stuck in another dimension, but how do they get back? How did they even get here? Who else is stuck in this world? And how long will Tim's patience last? Back home, the Bat was a planetary symbol that struck fear in the hearts of criminals. In this new world, it has no meaning, save for the handful of stranded souls.
In the Shadows - Kieron_ODuibhir
(shortened) Summary:
“I’m not like you.”
The cowl still looked like something he was wearing, but Clark knew it was not. It flexed like skin when Batman narrowed his blank white eyes and said, “I can see you know that.”
Chirp - AmariT
Summary: Every piece of the signal Tim unlocked revealed more locks, and by the time he broke through the last one, he was already mentally rehearsing his many upcoming talk show appearances. 'Yes,' he told the interviewer, 'it was difficult for me, a ten-year-old genius, to break open the worldwide alien conspiracy. That's why it took a whole hour.'
When the crackling audio started, he expected some weird alien language. Maybe squawks and high-pitched squeals mixed with musical woofs. Maybe they wouldn't talk at all, and images would beam directly into his mind. Maybe they'd talk in practiced English with a Midwestern drawl like their other resident alien.
Instead he heard a low, guttural voice growling out of his computer speakers. "Robin," it said. "Are you in position?"
A Better Cage - Mangaluva
Note: I was absolutely DELIGHTED to see a Young Justice Crossover with the Justice Lords (Earth-50) from the animated Justice League series, which is near and dear to my heart. I admit I haven’t really had much time to hunker down and read this, but even skimming, it’s an intriguing piece of work. Also, Justice Lords.
Summary: Wally's grateful to have woken up at all, really. He just doesn't know what to make of the world he's woken up in. At least they want to find a way to his world as much as he does, if not exactly for the same reasons...
Common People - AmariT
Note: The Bat boys are all Bruce’s blood sons, but it still feels very much like a found family. I haven’t really read everything in this series, but I feel the author has an amazing grip on all the characters. Lovely and heartwarming.
Summary: His whole life, Jason’s mom had told him his dad was Bruce Wayne, but he’d never been dumb enough to actually believe it. They lived in a rundown, one-room apartment in the worst part of town, and in every single picture he’d ever seen of that rich bastard he was wearing a suit or sipping champagne worth more than everything they’d ever owned.
But if he wasn’t Bruce Wayne’s kid, then what the hell was he doing sitting outside the man’s office in Wayne Towers?
Red Robin and the Hood - momoejaku
Note: Haven’t read this in a while, but it made an impression. Though it’s a fic set during the Red Robin arc, it very much is about both Tim and Jason. Plus, it fleshes out the Pru and Z a bit more, too.
Summary: Bruce Wayne is dead. Superman brought back his body, and the family mourned him, holding a quiet funeral in secret so that the legacy of Batman could live on. But not everyone has been able to put him to rest.
Reeling from the loss of Bruce, his identity as Robin and his trust in his family, Tim Drake sets out on a personal quest that will take him across the world to prove what he knows in his heart: that Bruce Wayne is alive.
Though intending to make his way alone, Tim reluctantly accepts help from his predecessor, Jason Todd, who knows from personal experience that death is not always as final as it seems.
Together, they are Red Robin and the Hood.
Liminal Spaces - Calamityjim
Note: Skimmed this only since I’ve been busy, BUT it does look well-written, and I’m always a sucker for alternate dimension/dimension travel intervention-type of fix-its. It’s a very specific trope.
Summary:
Bruce's habit of collecting strays is not limited by dimension.
Or
When Young Justice Batman comes across an angsty, seemingly abandoned by his Batman Tim Drake, he decides to step up to the plate and parent the crap out of him.
Little Bird’s Vengeance - KatHarkness-Katara
Note: Crossover with Avengers. Awesome fic with Tim and Jason and some Outsider POV (via the Avengers) of these dimensional stragglers. I think Tim’s team shows up in the later chapters, too. If you’re reading on mobile, it’s still very much worth reading despite FF.net’s horrible format and abundance of advertisements in the mobile version.
Summary: Why is life never simple? Red Robin's ended up worlds away from home once again, and now what's he to do? What do the Avengers want from him; do SHIELD have another agenda; and is there any way back? Pre-New 52. No slash. Rated for inevitable language/violent themes.
A Displaced Red Robin - dragonprincess1988
Note: Worth reading despite FF.net’s horrible format and abundance of advertisements in the mobile version. Well-written fic! EMOTIONS! I love them. Younger Dick Grayson is adorable, Tim is a competent fixer-upper for other people but not so much himself. He’s kind of angsty and making YJ Dick want to keep him (and YJ Bruce, too, if you read between the lines). On the plus side, seems like he’s making good friends with Young Justice Roy. This fic was written before certain episodes of YJ came out, though, and the fic reflects/will continue to reflect that. Still, I give it five stars.
Author’s Summary: Tim gets transported to the cartoon Young Justice world, and he's not sure he knows how to deal with it. Attention: If you want to know about Artemis or people from Tim's world the final note on my profile is for you. Also, a special thank you to angel-gidget over at Tumblr, who made the wonderful cover art for this story.
The Till-then From the Ever Since - Keiron O_Duibhir
Note: Fandom classic. Definitely a must-read for Batfam fans, in my humble opinion.
Summary: It began, or seemed to begin, with Jason.
Usually that would have meant something in the order of fire and explosion and probably at least one gunshot wound, but for once (as Tim said, sourly), it wasn't actually Jason's fault.
The Wayne Family Ghost - pupeez4eva
Note: Please read this. Especially if you’re sad or anxious or just have time. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s my go-to cheer-up fic. Absolutely hysterical.
Summary: In which Bruce realizes that having a legally dead son, who regularly hangs around the family, might be slightly problematic.
Bloodline - chibi_nightowl
Note: Complicated family dynamics, this time centering around Tim, Selina, Bruce and, surprisingly, Damian. Jason and Dick make an appearance as supportive big bros, too. It works. Take a read, it isn’t that long.
Summary:
“Mr. Drake, I can’t think of a better way to say this, so I’ll just be blunt. This file is for your first adoption. By the Drakes.”
Tim blinked. “My what?”
“You were adopted as a newborn by Jack and Janet Drake.”
“Excuse me, but what the fuck are you talking about?”
Talon!Tim AU Series by keeptogethernow
Note: Found family, from a different angle. Cool fic and well-written.
Summary of Tso’ape Mumbichi, first in the series: Ten years ago, two people made a deal with the devil--unlimited funds in exchange for their child. And now it's time to pay up. But there's no way to ensure that the child will cooperate.
Shutterbug Series by goldkirk
Note: Exactly what it says on the tin! Found family.
Summary:
Tim Drake is thirteen, runs the famous BatWatch blog that has spiraled hilariously out of control, has absentee parents that suit his purposes just fine, is training himself to run the streets at night, and is doing absolutely peachy, thank you.
Alfred and Jason disagree, and get Dick and Bruce involved in figuring out their weird next door neighbor kid’s life. Everything goes uphill from there.
Thursday’s Child - anthalogia
Note: Well-written and has found family and Tiny!Tim? Automatic win.
Summary:
He’s not the first child with nowhere else to go that Bruce Wayne has taken in. Dick Grayson was the first and the most high-profile – because no one would have thought Bruce Wayne was interested in ever raising a child, let alone the orphaned son of circus performers – but Jason was maybe just as much of a shock to society for being a street kid who came out of seemingly nowhere. Tim Drake is ordinary by comparison – his parents died in a plane accident. He can’t think of anything very special about him except that he met Bruce a few times when his parents hosted parties to keep in touch with Gotham society.
Or, tiny Tim Drake is adopted by the Waynes a little earlier than scheduled.
We’re Not Driving (How did we get here?) - TimTheToaster
Note: Short and sweet, a little angsty, and then very sweet.
Summary:
Tim stared at his phone, as if that would change what was on the screen.
Dick Grayson @FlyingDGrayson
It took some doing, and in some cases a little blackmail, but we've finally got the whole family together for a movie night! #WayneManor #movienight #familytime #schedulingisanightmare

Take It Back Now Y’all - TimTheToaster
Note: And Tiny!Jason has made his appearance. Also, Tim, I am begging you to please take care of yourself—ah, Bruce has made his appearance. Interesting. Also, I gotta say this author is good.
Summary:
There was absolutely no way this sunshine was from Gotham in April.
Not possible.
Which meant, Tim was no longer in Gotham, in April.
(In which Tim finds himself in the past, and tries to do the right thing. It's more complicated than he'd like.)
Takes a Little Time, Takes a Lotta Twine (To Get Us Back Together) - TimTheToaster
Note: Emotional Hurt/Comfort, beginning of reconciliation, and brotherhood. A satisfying, cathartic moment during the Red Robin arc to soothe your heart.
Summary:
Tim was in Gotham.
Tim had pretty specifically been avoiding thinking about Dick as much as possible for the last few weeks.
For the last year, really. No need to open that can of carnivorous worms.
Dick had other plans.
Everybody’s Heard (Bird is the Word) - TimTheToaster
Red Robin Era ANGST, but like, deliciously well-written. Also, protective Dad Bruce is always epic. Light bashing of Green Arrow and BC, though. But considering the situation (in this fic), kind of warranted.
Summary:
5 times Batman heard other heroes talking about his wayward brother,
And 1 time they were talking about his son.
A Choice to Make - scorbusfics
Note: fresh and interesting premise! Cool world building, too.
Summary: They have to choose. Dick and Bruce have to choose one person each to save, and one to disappear through the door.
“Send one of us,” Dick says fiercely, not for the first time. His face is dark and angry and desperate, eyes flicking from brother to brother. “Send one of us instead. I won’t choose.”
“Neither will I,” Bruce says.
But Tim knows.
Secret Places - RenaRoo
It’s ANGST, but the author knows how to use it well. Also, Jason’s line at the end killed me. Damn.
Summary: Tim Drake goes missing. The search to find him begins.

One by one
summary:   After the defeat of the Teen Titans, Raven agrees to lead the League of Shadows alongside Damian, but she must face her own fears and earn a place among the assassins. AU JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK: APOKOLIPS WAR SPOILERS
Rated M (Blood, intense violence, sexual themes and strong languague)
Disclaimer: Everything belongs to DC COMICS
PREFACE
The pain seemed like a steel stake that merged with her soul, penetrating her bones and wounding the blood vessels, touching the correct points and it would take a long time to rip it from her veins. Raven had suffered for whole days, it hurt so much that tears are not enough, although she knows that she must be strong, she cannot avoid being overwhelmed.
Conner looks up, his eyes that once were merry and rogue are now two empty sockets. The surviving Titans are gathered at the entrance to the island, away from the bloodshed, but their minds travel to painful places.
The cost of this war was high; it had taken Kory, Garfield, Wally, Roy, all her friends, her family. She no longer has the energy to speak, smile and wish for a better tomorrow; nothing would be the same anymore.
Her mind flies like a butterfly to Richard Grayson, her mentor and one of the best men she had ever known, he was one of the fallen. If he were here, he would know how to turn off the silence of death. He would guide them as always and take them away from the pain as he could. She wants to see him one last time and say goodbye accordingly, share even a moment with her friends, she would tell Kory that she was like a mother to her and she would never forget her, she represented a beacon of light in the dark, but she knows the immense love Kory had for Dick and she does not want to see the suffering on their faces when she finds out about the death of her partner. One of her parts thinks that perhaps it is better that both were dead, it avoided that they will mourn the death of the other, at least death is a simple thing and they could rest.
If there is something called heaven, she is sure that her friends would be there, they got the simple part. Raven knows that she will not go to heaven, it is not made for the daughters of demons, but she would be happy because somewhere they would be happy and reunited, although she would never see them again.
She wonders because of all of them she is who survived, she did not deserve it. Others think the same.
Donna hugs her knees, looks like a little girl holding on to a stuffed animal. Her hair is covered in a layer of dirt and debris, her uniform has cuts and her shoulder is hurt. A stab so deep that it reveals the bone, they had washed her, and Raven wanted to heal her, but she didn't let her. The young Amazon did not complain but Raven saw the pain on her face and the sweat like a film on her forehead, perhaps it is better to focus on physical suffering.
The rain creeps off the fire, nobody moves. Their bodies are wet, and it doesn't bother them, it's as if discomfort and cold are nothing.
What will they do now? They do not return to the tower for days, which before represented hope and dreams, where lonely young people found a home now it is a killing field. She had heard the story of Icarus. The young man who made wings, attached them to his back with wax and flew very close to the sun. His wings were melted by the temperature and he collapsed, his body crashed to the ground.
Perhaps they were like Icarus, their glory days were short, and the heroes had sealed their own tomb when they invaded Apokolips. Even if they managed to recover, the world would never be the same, it would never be the same.
''Your heroes were scum, a bunch of arrogant idiots, daughter. If I had freed myself...''
Turn off your voice.
How do you learn to live with the impossible? Raven would take the pain of her friends, keep it, and suffer in solitude, if they smiled back at her. Watching Jump City is painful, it reminds her of her first home, when she lost her mother in the blink of an eye and was forced to live with that mistake. She would lay down her life for Kory, offer her remaining strength and magic to win back her friends.
How would she go on? How is it possible to recover from this?
"I'll go back to Themiscyra." says Donna. Her voice is a whisper, and the rain hits her body forming rivers of dirty water. She doesn't know if there are tears running down her cheeks or it's just the rain. "I'm leaving tonight."
They don't say anything.
The news hits Raven, despite everything, she still thinks she can stay. She does not want to lose a friend as valuable as the Amazon, but she also knows that they have to leave. They cannot stay, the tower is destroyed, there is no reason to return, and at any moment the parademons can return. It pains her to think that something she has worked so hard for was dissolving in her hands.
"Go soon…." Conner sighs. The boy does not move, he is like a statue and his eyes remain focused on the fire of the bonfire being extinguished by the rain and the smoke, a curtain that is dividing his friends. "At least you'll be in a safe place, Donna." the Amazon doesn't say anything.
He watches her and, wonders what it's like to have a home. A place he could take refuge, arms outstretched to hug, familiar faces wishing for the best and healing. Conner does not have a family. He is the result of an experiment and he does not think that he considers Lex Luthor as his father and they did not know where Superman was. Raven lost her mother and dimension years ago. They have no place to go.
If her mother and Azarath were alive, she might run into her arms, hug Arella, and cry until her eyes were dry, exposing her feelings and emotions like never before.
''You were always strong, daughter. If there is someone who can recover from anything, it is you.'' Arella told her this when she broke her leg after falling from a tree and she had to resist the magical procedures of the monks. She still remembers how her mother had caressed her forehead. Wiping away the sweat, her grunts and complaints, how she placed a kiss on her forehead gently.
''You are trusting, too proud and arrogant.'' the older monk murmured when she escaped from the lessons and appeared for the exams, emerging victorious. Raven thought the monk hated her when she forced him to find her among the temples. He grumbled and growled, but she saw the fun in his emotions and had been some kind of grumpy grandfather. When Trigon razed the dimension, she only found a broken skull, it was the only thing left of the monk.
They had left her dealing with her mistakes, blaming herself for what she did as a child; feeling helpless in hell and fighting her father. The Titans were no different, her mind wonders what would have been had she escaped from Trigon after he attacked Superman, if he hadn't listened to them and traveled between dimensions, maybe the end result wouldn't hurt as much.
Her mother visits her at night.
In her dreams she is never angry at what she did. The monk still looks for her and scolds her when she runs through the squares, all the monks and the bright skies are there. Now she adds other burdens on her back, Dick's mischievous gaze, Kory's softness, Garfield's silly jokes, as Jaime loved competition and spoke with love about his younger sister.
Shit, she would miss them so much.
She had had a home and lost it, when she let her guard down and became fond again, they took it from her in the worst possible way.
Now one of her friends was leaving her.
Her insides ache and she thinks she can vomit right now. She feels the anxiety devouring her guts, the pain showing up and the idea of being alone terrifies her too much. She is afraid of being alone in a ghost town.
Jump City is her second Azarath.
In her native dimension there were no decomposed and dismembered bodies. The smell of blood did not rise, and no cries were heard from afar. There was only fire and ashes, and the voice of her father manipulating the situation, insisting that it is the best she has, now only the deaf suffering remains.
"I'll be going too." Raven gasps. Feeling the weight of loneliness and swallows hard. "I need to see if the Kent’s are okay." Conner looks up, as if expecting someone to appear in the clouds. "He would want it." he murmurs.
She looks down, her hair is wet, and a drop of rainwater descends from her head to her forehead, it is the only thing she perceives. Raven does not have a family, they do not expect her return on a protected island and there is no house in the middle of the field, there is no one waiting for her.
Everything she owned was taken from him.
Perhaps only death, loneliness and pain would be her faithful companions. She imagines herself wandering among the rubble, observing in first person what was left of the city that they protected for years, trying to find herself between the disaster and the tears. She doesn't want that.
What will become of her now?
When Damian shows up, he has civilian clothes, his hands are broken and there is a thick layer of mud that stains his clothes, his nails are a mixture of earth and blood. His face is neutral, and his eyes are hard, there is a grimace that has not left his face and she thinks it may be something permanent.
He stares spitefully at the Superman symbol on Conner's chest.
Titus follows, the Great Dane trotting alongside his companion. The formality and discipline that characterized the dog seemed attenuated, as if he knew that the situation was not good and he did not want to cause problems. She looks him in the eye, he sits next to her, does not give her second glances, there is a backpack on his back and reality hits her, like a slap.
''I'm the only thing you have, witch.''
She had barely seen Damian since the fall of the Teen Titans. He stood next to Dick's body, as if he couldn't believe it and the pain was a tsunami for a few moments, until he looked up straight at the sky. Raven had watched him harden, build a breastplate for himself, and she hasn't felt so much anger coming from the young man since he came to the Titans.
He did not let the wound in his torso heal, he treated it by himself without anesthesia and when the pain came he preferred to find out inside, she felt that she was losing him, that the person who visited her in her room in the afternoons, who drank tea in porcelain cups and worried about her safety more than anyone, was no longer here. Raven thought she had punctured his walls, that they could look each other in the eye untethered, but she knows she will no longer be able to knock him down.
Her soul is in pieces, but she prefers that he leave. That he leaves in silence because at least they would not have a farewell and she would not cry to see his back without looking back. Damian would hurt less to leave her behind, he's strong and would fight to earn a place in the world, and Raven would be left in the ruins with nothing to hold on to, there would be nothing that mattered to her. No one would cry for her.
''Even your friends are leaving you. I am the only thing you have.''
What a miserable life.
"I'm leaving." Damian declares. It was direct and cold, and Raven hopes it will be. "I leave in the morning. "
Of course.
"Good luck." Donna hugs her knees tighter. She hides her head and they can see how she trembles and is collapsing. They do nothing to comfort her and Titus is the only one sitting next to her, but he does not make any movement, he is simply there. "They'll be fine, right?" She says in a broken voice.
The sobs seem just as useless and sad as the rain. Raven thinks Donna is expressing herself for the group, as no one else had shed a single tear and they kept their pain to themselves. For a few minutes their heads are too helpless to provide encouragement.
Conner grimaces at the girl. She can feel the suffering tearing his soul, his mouth trembles in what looks like a pout and his eyes are red, threatening to shed tears, but before this happens, he puts on his glasses. One of the lenses is broken and it is not very protective or effective.
He puts on his glasses as if that will remind him of who he is, but it's more than that. He uses it so they don't see him cry.
Damian remains motionless, clenching his fists and frowning. She can see the thoughts going through his head, like a whirlpool and he doesn't let her see his emotions, he is a ghost that Raven cannot chase.
They are all ghosts that will disappear in a few hours.
***
When Donna leaves, she is silent. The girl had been crying for hours until she sighed and got up, when she managed to regain her composure, she did not look back or say goodbye, but takes off when the sun hides among the mountains.
It is as if the star knew what was happening, since it disappears on the horizon along with her friend.
Raven is left remembering the moments she shared with Donna, knowing that perhaps she will never see her again.
***
"Be well." Conner grimaces. He was about to leave as he was worried about the Kent’s. He hadn't shared much with the couple, but they were kind of parents to Superboy and he tried to keep in touch. She would like to tell him that the old couple are fine, however this is hardly possible, "We had some good years." he keeps his eyes on the stars.  "But I'm done."
Raven remains silent, clasping her hands in her lap and ducking her head. Conner is about to leave and cannot feel worse because she knows that she is staying alone. She wants to be angry with them for not considering her in their plans. Leaving her with a wound in her heart so big that she does not know how to cure the pain, but she is not like them.
She has no one and everyone needs to recover, at least until the suffering was bearable. Now they are sore, tired and want to be anywhere but here.
She's not going to blame Conner for leaving.
She wasn't going to blame them for leaving her behind.
"Will you take care of yourself?"
She raises her head in surprise at the question. Conner is looking at her through his glasses.
"I can take care of myself." But her inner strength is faltering.
Silence is a monster, he does not respond, but sighs while staring at the tower and a pout forms on his mouth, it is a trembling line "Send my good wishes to Damian." The Son of Batman disappeared with Titus after Donna left, giving the excuse that the animal wanted to eat and something inside Raven cut off at the thought that he might go. That it might be the last time she would see him. Conner's feet floated a few inches off the ground, and he looked at Raven. "Find me if you need anything ... "
She nodded.
Her hands trembled at the sides of her body, as if she had no control. It pained her to think that she was being left alone, her memory returning to the battle, to the place where she was before the world became a field of deaths and tormented souls. She thinks of Darkseid, he had inflicted more damage on them than he thought. He is probably sitting on a throne with death as his servant, millions of lives in his hands, mocking the stupidity of those who faced him, keeping them alive was a punishment.
It would have been better if she died… Dying is easy.
But her death is not easy, it would not come from anywhere and Raven always knew that she would have a long existence. Right now, she just thinks it would be better to die in battle, at least she would take Trigon with her and...
''Let me out, daughter. I can...''
"Goodbye, Rae."
Conner disappeared into the heavy clouds laden with the promise of a thunderstorm. The superhero is so dramatic that he chose to leave when the mist covers the destroyed shoreline of Jump City, when pieces of the buildings still fall to the ground and there is a concrete explosion, like a bomb.
Even the sky is sad.
Raven closes her eyes by burying her head in her hands, struggling with the situation, with the silence that is a being that tries to eat her. It is ironic to her as she described herself as someone silent, a friend of private spaces and that old comfort of when you contemplate a landscape, now her qualities are defects.
No one would save her.
She does not have her friends to sustain herself in the midst of pain and despair, there is only death and abandonment.
A lump is installed in her throat and she cannot get rid of it.
''You are weak, you filthy witch. You are just like your mother.''
''I love you to the moon and back.'' says his mother. Her mind goes back to that time when she escaped from a lesson only to chase that little cat who was stealing her lunch and the monks had scolded her. She thought she would be angry and would approve of her being punished, but she watched her with love and caressed her cheeks. ''I don't care if they tell you that you are proud, confident and highlight your flaws. You are my girl, my little bird.''
''You are the most hopeful heroine I have ever met.'' Dick smiled at her and the sun illuminated his features. A sweet softness wrapped around him as Kory joined them, the alien taking her hand. ''Don't go, stay with the Teen Titans.'' observed Dick. ''We can help you choose clothes, remodel your room and accompany you to buy those little ducks that go in the bathtub.''
None of them are here, they are just voices that would be lost over time. Raven doesn't want to forget, she has no right to recover from this.
It would have been better to die.
An arm wraps around her shoulder, she doesn't need her powers to know that it’s Damian and she finds herself burying her head in his chest, clutching her fists to his clothes, as if he is going to disappear. She doesn't want him to leave, Raven wants his heart to return, she thinks he would be better elsewhere. Her intentions were never to win with Damian, and she would give in if that implied the safety of this boy. She just wants him to be happy.
Damian lost his brother. They did not know what had happened to Batman and Gotham fell a few days ago. He has nothing.
He pressed down on her body and she could feel his jaw pressed to her head. If she lost him, she would keep this moment forever, she clinging to his arms and he wrapping his arms around her when the sky opens and reveals the stars. She wants to memorize his scent, his strength and he is a point in a story that she did not reach to be narrated; If she had been braver, she would have confessed her feelings to him before, but her life is not made for fairy tales. They are built on a darker premise.
Titus groans and rests his head on her shoulder, runs his tongue over her face and it is a relief. She will miss the animal.
What hero has a happy story?
In another reality he could be hers, or at least enter her life in a different way, even if he rejects her, she would still have him and that would be enough.
She feels his mouth open and close, not knowing what to say. She knows what he will say.
"Don't cover it with sugar, Damian."
He is silent. Raven looks up, still refusing to give up his arms and is looking into his eyes, her green eyes are looking directly at her and she can't believe that this is her end.
She would remember the green tone of his eyes, not compared to wet grass, to the water of a river, but to jade. Damian has grown in recent years; his jaw has become square and must be shaved to get a beard away from his face. His skin color has become more olive, his bones ached when he had a rapid growth and his body developed muscles in the areas closer to that of grown man.
He has changed.
"I'll go back to the League of Assassins." he frowns. "I have already spoken to Lady Shiva."
She thought it would hurt, but she couldn't imagine how much, and her fingers were loosening. Her knowing it was coming indirectly is one thing, hearing it from his lips makes it a reality and loneliness crushes her heart.
Donna is gone.
Conner disappeared into the clouds a few hours ago.
Damian was leaving her now, too.
She had to have seen the signs, maybe it was her bad judgment that convinced her that there was a remote chance that he would stay, but what for? He has nothing to fight for, they cannot remain in the tower forever.
"Oh." escapes her lips.
Suddenly she's walking away, and it may be the last time she sees him.
She wonders if Damian has no doubts. He left the League of Assassins for years and Batman does not approve of Ra's Al Ghul lifestyle, only the one he had intended for his son and instilled other values in him, he would not think well of Damian upon returning. Raven does not know what to think, the barrier could deepen between the two, the league is full of criminals. Maybe going back to the league is the only thing he had as insurance in his life, there is no Nightwing, Batman or the Teen Titans.
One part of her justifies it, but the other is terrified to discover what he could become.
"Everyone is leaving." she murmurs. She tries to keep her tone neutral, but it breaks like a tuned guitar string.
Where would she go? She doesn't have a home, can't even look at the tower without feeling devastated, overwhelmed with pain, and wouldn't be able to make it through the city on her own. Her empathic abilities would end up driving her insane, there's too much pain, the city is kindled by suffering and from a distance she distinguishes its colors.
Damian looks down and she sees the fight in his mind, she almost wants to pass a hand to smooth the wrinkle that forms between his brows.
She would miss that wrinkle.
"Come with me. "
What?
He watches her, there is a shyness sparkle in his eyes and if he had not been so close, he may not even hear it, his proposal is so fast in a thick tone that it would be confusing, but Raven heard it clearly.
She is stunned by the offer.
"Come with me. Lead the League of Assassins by my side." He was looking her in the eye now. His katana in its case, and him in a hoodie. He looks casual, as if he had never witnessed death and pain with his own eyes. "You can do it. You are a good fighter."
Hope was shining within her, Damian wanted them to go together, but she is not an assassin; she has nothing to claim among the ranks of the league.
She can't imagine leading an organization made up of assassins, but where would she go? She has nothing and nobody. She had heard that her mother had a sister, but Arella never spoke directly of her family, limiting herself to just Raven and she doubts very much that they would have survived. She doesn't want to say goodbye to Damian Wayne and watch him go off into the unknown.
Say Yes! A voice inside shouts, it’s optimistic marked by blind love and the promise of a tomorrow, perhaps not a better one, but it is still a more decent future than one of solitude and corpses. She is surprised at how idealistic she can be, even with everything that happened, she still dreamed of this boy, she still sighed because he was offering her a different life, one that would allow her to see him every day. You are not an assassin.
They are his people, not yours, a wicked voice warned her, it is like a snake poisoned with truth, more damaging than her father's words.
''Do you think you will write the tale of the witch and the assassin, idiot girl? '' Trigon scoffs. ''Don't make me laugh, daughter. You are weak, you have always been equal to your mother who believed in demons that fall in love with humans and golden futures.''
Do you want to play the queen of assassins so much?
Raven ducks her head, refusing to look him in the eye. Her mind was in conflict, she wanted to quench her father's teasing and her racing heart believing that he would not leave her alone. She wished for them to build a future together, but she also knows that the place where they would go is not idyllic; It is not a paradise.
"We can be secure." he offers as if it were the last resort. Damian's tone is soft, but it is mixed with doubt and silent resignation, as if he were realizing that she would say no. "It is one of the safest places on the planet."
She strokes his uniform cape, as if to remind herself that this is real, and he is still here.
They look at each other in the eyes. Damian's breathing is heavy, time freezes and she knows that this moment can define what would be of her life in what they had left, she could change it for better or worse.
The person in front of you. The future in front of you.
For the first time in three days she looks at the tower, it is destroyed, holes and cracks damage the T and she realizes that he cannot stay. She cannot bear the idea of being alone, she could not compose herself; she doesn't want to go through another hell where she only has Trigon as a company, him feeding on her pain and weakness. Her father would feel no empathy for her, even if she died, he would still worry about himself.
Maybe it would not be perfect, but it is a future, and she does not want to lose him.
"I'm going to go." She clears her throat. "I'll go with you to the League of Assassins."
Damian nods.
***
She hadn't expected the trip to be this long, but Damian insists it would be days. Nanda Parbat is a fortress in Tibet, she is trying to locate it on the map, and she is half a world away, so they must take a trip on a plane waiting for them outside Jump City. She does not distinguish the face of the pilot, as he is covered by a mask that only leaves his eyes exposed and bows when he sees Damian.
Raven had looked out the window at the decimated city. She has not packed, did not want to rescue anything that was her home, but found a jewel that had belonged to Starfire; she said that it was the only thing she could bring from Tamaran, it is a violet stone that catches sunlight and reminds her of her friend. It had been lying a few meters from her shattered body, as if in her last moments she had clung to the stone.
It breaks her heart when she sees the jewel.
Titus rests his head on her lap and yawns. She smiles at the animal and strokes its head; he had been a loyal and brave dog not to be disturbed when seeing the chaos that the world had become. His soft fur is like the fibers of a carpet and it is warm, like a stuffed animal. He reminds her of good things, laughs in the park, the pet store that always smelled of food, and a box of puppies they gave away in the city center.
The pilot barely looks at her. She is surprised by the technology of the plane, although it is small. Damian sits in the passenger seat, as if he were the one directing it, gives the pilot instructions in another language and the man nods.
When the plane takes off, Raven cannot take her eyes off the city. She feels bad for leaving the corpses of her friends and not giving them a decent burial and leaving. They deserved better.
Watching Jump City hurts, however, she can't look away either.
She wonders what Kory, Garfield, or any of her friends would think if they found out what she was doing, would they get mad? Perhaps they were reproving her from heaven, they look at her with furious eyes and they would have a bad opinion of her decision to follow Damian to lead an organization that the heroes disapprove of.
Jump City, the city where memories had been formed and would remain here, the destroyed tower is a point on the small island from afar, it seems like a fallacy that a few weeks ago she would have lived in that tower with other thoughts hanging around her head. She stretches out her hand on the glass when the plane is about to take off, her fingers touch the point where the destroyed tower is positioned and murmurs a silent prayer to Uxia, the spirit that guides souls to eternal rest and is the protector of the martyrs, to direct her fallen friends to a better place than she is heading for.
"Goodbye." she whispers.
She wants to see their faces for the last time, that they are in a place full of light. Because people as wonderful as them deserve the best, if this life did not offer it to them, then let it be in the next ones.
Feeling eyes on her, Damian is watching her from the passenger seat and there is a grimace on his face, he disappears in the blink of an eye and presses buttons and continues giving orders with a firm voice.
Titus falls asleep on her lap.
The plane takes off and for a few moments she swears that there is a figure flying around the tower, but by then the plane has already crossed the mountains and she is observing the ocean.
Raven presses the jewel that belonged to her friend against her chest, praying that she had not been wrong and blinded by feelings.
''You are weak. You are running away like your mother, but don't worry, daughter; you'll ruin it anyway. You always do it.''

I know it’s been forever since you wrote the sick!Dick fic but I just listened to Better Now by Oh Wonder and started thinking about it and I once again want to reiterate HOW DARE YOU
oh no…. it would be a shame if something were to… happen
sick!dick au, part who knows
It’s a month or soafter Dick is put on sick leave. They’re under no illusions anymore. Dick isgetting worse, and as scary as that is, they do honestly try not to let thatterrifying unknown hang over their heads. Dick and Wally have adopted a sort of“day by day” attitude. They just take things one step at a time, deal withproblems as they come up, try not to get caught in the overwhelming anxietythat comes with thinking about the future. They have today, and just for today,that’s enough.
And today, Dick isrestless.
He hasn’t exactly beenisolated in all of this, mind you. He doesn’t spend his days sitting on thesofa in their shitty little apartment, staring at the ceiling. Sick leavesucks, especially for a guy that’s so used to some sort of action every day,but he’s not locked up in an ivory tower. He goes out with Wally, visits hisfamily and friends in Gotham, takes walks to clear his head – but travellinganywhere alone is risky. Stubborn as he is, even he can recognize that. Hecan’t drive, so usually he either has to take a cab or ask someone to come pickhim up (which he fucking hates). He does a lot with Barbara, helping withsurveillance and manning the comms when the others are on patrol. Goes overcase files and helps pull loose ends together. Just enough to keep him fromgoing insane.
Wally, for his part,tries his best to hold off that stagnant depression. Better than anyone, heknows just how much it’s been affecting Dick to have to step away from the twomost important roles in his life. So, whenever Dick is feeling up to it, hetakes him out on dates, brings him to the gym so he can work off energy withsomeone watching, all that. Wally is just constantly on and he never complains once. Never really crosses his mind. Thisisn’t a burden, this is his best friend and the love of his life, it’s the mostnatural thing in the world to want to make him happy.
Still, inevitably itdoes get to Dick sometimes, and Wally can see that. Try as they might to keepthings normal, their lives just /aren’t/ normal anymore – not even their ownvigilante-superhero-normal. Things are different, and it sucks. Because travelis difficult and risky, they hadn’t really left Gotham much in months. As aresult, they hadn’t seen their friends in quite a while.
Dick suggests thatmorning that they have the Titans over, just to hang out and watch movies,maybe break out a few board games. A sort of normal they haven’t had in awhile. Wally agrees that it sounds like a great idea – on the premise that Dickis feeling well enough the night of, to which Dick rolls his eyes with an“okay, mom” and kisses the sideWally’s head as he takes his plate to the sink.
They pick a nightabout a week later and Donna, Roy, Garth come over for some good old fashionedTitans bonding time. They haven’t had a night like this in ages, all thingsconsidered. Dick’s feeling good, excited, spends the afternoon cleaning up andgetting snacks. By the time Wally gets home, everything’s pretty much done, andDick’s just waiting anxiously for their friends to arrive.
They do, gradually.Roy is the last one because his sitter was late to watch Lian. The rest of themstart throwing popcorn at him, not buying him blaming the babysitter for asecond.
It’s a good night.Honestly, it is, and over the course of it, Wally can’t help but feel a bitlike they’ve managed to capture a moment from a time past. It was with a bit ofan aching longing, a bittersweet knowledge that they could pretend everythingwas okay for a night, but they never knew what the future would hold. He almostfeels guilty for allowing the thought to settle.
Garth and Donna get intoa shouting match over The Hobbit. Dick only intervenes here and there with asmug grin, posing a new question just to watch them both get worked up again.It eventually leads them to stopping Jurassic World halfway through to put iton. Roy comments that if they’d going to start one Hobbit movie, they’re goingto have to watch them all, and there’s no way they can fit all that in onenight with it already getting late. Garth just shrugs, as he’s putting the DVDin, that they’ll just have to do this again soon. It almost breaks Wally’sheart to see just how quietly happy that makes Dick.
Keep in mind, ofcourse, that they’d been keeping things at a reasonable volume. They’d kept thebrightness of the TV to a decent level, and kept the lights off, and apart fromthe five of them just being rambunctious, fairly low key. Halfway into themovie, Dick leans against Wally’s shoulder on the couch. Okay, nothing oddabout that. But then he turns his face in against his neck. He groans andtenses, and Wally can see where this is going. He wraps his arm around Dick’sback, asking him in a low whisper if he thinks he’s about to have a fit. Aftera moment, Dick grunts out a no, claims that it’s just his head. Not a seizure,a migraine, but still nothing good.
At that point, theothers catch on, and Donna pauses the movie. She asks Dick if he’s not feelingwell, tells him they can go if needed – and, emphatically, Dick says no. He’sfine, just needs to take his migraine pills and he’ll be fine. Turn the movieback on.
Sure enough, Wally isalready on his feet getting Dick his meds, a glass of water, and a slice ofpizza because it’s not good to take on an empty stomach. Which, in hindsight,is a stupid instruction for a medication for migraines, when you feel secondsaway from vomiting. Dick’s a champ, manages a few bites before taking the pill,pretending his palm isn’t shaking as he pops it into his mouth. And, since noone’s moved for the remote, he turns the movie back on himself.
They only get anotherten minutes in before Wally suggests that he’s bored and they should break out a game instead – conveniently beforeone of the big action scenes, when even with the volume down, the chaotic soundand camera flashes can be a lot to handle. All too quickly, the others agree.Wally knows that Dick is pretending he doesn’t know exactly what they’re doingand complies. So, they move to the table, clear away some of the food, andbreak out a party game, one of those card games that you can describe as just like Cards Against Humanity, but y’know,totally its own thing except that it’s basically the same thing just withits own gimmick. It’s fun, nonetheless.
And, for a while, Dickseems to be okay. He’s a little quieter than before, but there’s still somecolour to his face, and he’s laughing and joking with everyone else. Wally, forthat short while, believes that they dodged a bullet. But as the game goes one,Dick’s head sinks into his hand, and eventually he has to put his cards down,bowing his head. Wally rubs his hand up and down Dick’s back, leans in,whispers that he should go lay down if he’s still feeling so bad, that it’s notworth causing him pain.
Dick is frustrated. Hejust wanted one night with hisfriends where he could escape this reality for a while. However reluctantlythough, he gives in. When the others claim that they can leave if needed again,Dick tells them they can stay and finish their game and movie, that he’s justgoing to lay down for a bit until it passes.
But it doesn’t. Notthat quickly, anyway. The migraine worsens, and worsens, until Dick is throwingup into the bin beside the bed, in total agony. He’s close to tears with it,breaking into a cold sweat and gritting his teeth so hard his veins pop. Halfdelerious. Wally spends the rest of the night going between taking care ofDick, trying to make him comfortable, doing anything he can to help, and checkingon their friends, who are all sitting awkwardly in the living room. The movieis playing again, but it’s muted. No one really had the heart to deny Dick whenhe asked them to stay. Eventually, though, Roy does have relieve his babysitter,and Garth follows after him, both leaving their well wishes with Wally to relayto Dick as they shuffle out the door.
Donna stays behind onthe pretense of helping to clean up. All the while, Wally is pulled between thecleanup and the bedroom to check on Dick. He spends a good twenty minutes inthere just trying to soothe him until he eventually falls asleep – or not somuch falls asleep as passes out. When he goes back out into the living room,the place is spotless. Before he can even thank Donna, she’s guiding him outonto the balcony. They leave the door open, still within earshot should Dickneed anything.
Out in the fresh air,Wally leans against the rail and tells Donna that Dick’s alright, that he’sfinally asleep but sometimes these migraines last for days, that he’ll have toget a refill on the pain meds soon, even as careful as they are with them, and Dick’snext appointment isn’t for another month, that he might take the day off work tomorrowif it’s really bad so he can stay with Dick. Donna leans against the rail nextto him and listens, and after a short silence, turns to Wally and asks if he’sokay.
And Wally doesn’treally hear it right at first. He starts to say that Dick will be fine now thathe’s asleep, but Donna cuts him off.
“Wally,” she says, “areyou okay?”
It honestly catcheshim off guard a bit. He just sort of stares back at Donna for a while beforestammering out that of course he’s okay, he’s not the one suffering here, andDonna shakes her head.
Just because Wally isn’tthe one who is ill doesn’t mean this hasn’t been hard on him. Not that it’s aburden or irritating to have to take care of Dick so often, absolutely not. ButWally has been taking on so muchlately, and the stress of watching Dick’s health deteriorate cannot be easy.This is scary. And while everyone’s been so focused on Dick, with good reason,Donna’s afraid that no one’s really though to check in on Wally.
And he just kind of…breaks down. He doesn’t really sob, doesn’t full on cry, but his composurecracks. Donna is there, holding him tight, letting him bury his face in hershoulder as he shudders and bites back stinging tears. Because he doesn’t allowhimself to be scared, and he is. He’sburning out between the constant worry and the stress and just trying to keepup with everything being thrown at them.
Just because Wallywould shoulder this all without hesitation, doesn’t mean it’s not hard, and Donna tells him as much.
She leaves that nightwith kiss on the cheek and a promise that he can talk to her whenever he’sfeeling overwhelmed. Wally shuts the door, turns off the TV, and heads into thebedroom. Dick is still asleep, thought restless. He’s nestled against Wally’spillow. Wally exhales as he closes the door behind him. When he slips into bed,careful not to disturb Dick’s already fitful sleep, Dick rolls over almostimmediately and shifts closer. Wally can feel it when he muscles relax just slightly.

31 Days of Halloween (Day 11)
Possession
Prompt: Ouija Board
Tim Drake x Reader
                                     xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
“Hey you,” You answered your phone.
“Hey, pretty lady, what are you up to?” Tim asked.
“Just settling down with a bowl of popcorn and some movies,” You told him.
“Care for some company?” Tim asked you.
“I thought you were hanging out with your brothers?” You replied.
“We were, but Dick pulled out the Ouija board. Some stuff happened and we’re all spooked,” Tim said.
You sighed. “I told you not to mess with that thing,”
“I know, but Jason headed to hang with Roy and Dick is off with Conner, and Damian is with Jon and Billy,” Tim said.
“Where’s Wally?” You asked.
“Woman, can’t I just hang out with my girlfriend, please?” Tim growled.
You chuckled. “Of course. I’m giving you a hard time. I’ll see you soon,”
“Thanks, I love you,” Tim said.
“I love you too,” You smiled and then hung up.
Tossing your phone down, you didn’t realize it bounced off the cushion and flipped under the couch. You kicked your feet out onto the coffee table. You only got partially into the first episode when Tim had arrived and let himself in. He shrugged out of his jacket and kicked out of his shoes.
You smiled at him softly as he trudged across the room and then dropped down next to you. His head immediately went into your lap and he stretched out across the rest of the couch. You ran your hand through his hair and froze.
“Tim, you’re hot,” You pointed out.
“I know, thanks,” He chuckled.
“No, as in I think you’re running a fever,” You said.
Tim shrugged. “Now that you mention it, I don’t feel good,”
“Let me go get the aspirin,” You said.
“No, stay and snuggles,” Tim whined.
“I can’t buddy, if you’re running a fever we need to break it,” You said.
You slid off the couch and headed to your bathroom. Digging around you found your thermometer and the aspirin. When you closed the mirror you jumped and gasped. Tim was standing behind you, but you never heard him walk up behind you.
“Jesus Tim,” You growled.
“Sorry,” Tim smiled.
“Open up,” You said.
Tim obliged and opened his mouth. You stuck the thermometer under his tongue. You left him to head to the kitchen to get him a glass of water. Tim eventually followed after you. When the thermometer beeped you turned to take it out of his mouth. Your eyes about bulged out of your head.
“Tim, 104.6, we need to take you to the emergency room,” You said.
Tim took the water and pills from you. “No, I’ll sleep it off,”
He downed the pills and the huge glass of water. He slammed the glass down on the counter. You jumped.
“Timmy, that’s not how that works. I don’t think aspirin is going to be enough to break that high of a fever,” You said.
Tim took you by surprise when he swung his hand at the glass and sent it flying across the room. It hit the wall and shattered.
“Tim!” You exclaimed.
Both of you looked up from the mess on the floor and back up at each other. You about jumped out of your own skin when you noticed that Tim’s eyes were completely.
“I’m getting really tired of you mothering me,” Tim snarled.
You backed away from him. “I was just trying to help,”
“Maybe, I just want my girlfriend to act like my girlfriend,” Tim said.
“Oh, okay, so what would you like for me to do?” You asked him.
Tim’s head twitched to the side twice. You cracked his neck and then refocused his eyes on you. His eyes were still pitch black. You slowly moved your way around the counter to put more distance between the two of you.
“I want a beer and I want to sit on that couch and cuddle,” Tim said.
“Fine. Your beer is in the pantry. If I knew ahead of time you were coming tonight I’d put in the fridge,” You said.
“Thanks,” Tim said turning away from you.
When he disappeared into the pantry you made a beeline for the front door. Your hands shook as you struggled to unlock all of the damn locks. Just as you yanked the door open, Tim’s arm appeared above you and he slammed the door shut. You cowered against the door as Tim stepped up behind you.
“Where are you going?” Tim asked.
“To get help,” You squeaked out.
“Help for what?” Tim demanded as he flipped you around your back slamming against the door.
“I think you’re possessed,” You whispered.
Tim tipped his head back and started laughing.
“Why do you think that?” Tim asked.
“Your eyes are pure black,” You told him.
Tim furrowed his eyebrows. He released you and stormed towards your bathroom. You ran towards the living room. You had to send a 911 text to his brothers. You weren’t going to be able to do this alone. You tossed your blanket off the couch looking for your phone.
“Hot damn they are black!” Tim yelled from your bathroom.
You stuffed your hands into the crack of the couch looking for your damn phone.
“What are you doing?” Tim asked.
Slowly, you looked over your shoulder. “You said you wanted to cuddle, right?”
Tim nodded. You pretended to fluff the couch and then picked up your blanket. You sat on the edge and then patted the spot next to you. Tim came to join you. Tim sprawled out on the couch and then pulled you down next to him. Your back was against his chest. His arms wrapped tightly around you. You let one of your arms fall and dangle off the side.
Tim started the episode where you left off. You tried to keep your breathing calm so you didn’t warn Tim that you were up to something. Your free arm started to search under the couch. It took everything out of you to not let out a celebratory noise when you finally found your phone.
You slid it out across the floor so you could just barely see the screen. Tim snuggled into you as you opened up your phone to your messages.
To: Batboys
Y/n
911. Do not call.
Jaybird
What’s wrong
Y/n
Tim is possessed. He has black eyes.
Dickwad
I knew it!
D-Man
On my way!
Jaybird
Me too
Dickwad
Be there soon.
You slid the phone back under the couch so you wouldn’t alert Tim to what was going on. You continued to lay trapped in his arms while you waited impatiently for the others to show up.
“Tim, what happened with the ouija board?” You asked.
Tim tensed behind you.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Tim said.
“If you’re possessed we need to get you help,” You said.
“No,” Tim said.
“But Tim,” You began to argue.
“I can feel him, Y/n. He’s strong. So strong. It could definitely help me to have them around,” Tim said.
“Tim, that’s not how that works. Once it takes control of you we could lose you,” You said.
“Yeah, well maybe that’s for the better,” Tim said.
“What are you talking about?” You asked him.
“I’m not Jason,” Tim said.
“I know that,” You replied.
“But you’re so close to Jason. You two have your own little secrets,” Tim snarled.
“Jason and I were friends before you and I. You know this. You said you were okay with that,” You reminded him.
“It still hurts,” Tim said.
“I’m sorry,” You whispered.
“And don’t even get me started about you and Damian,” Tim growled.
“What about me and Damian?” You asked in annoyance.
“The two of you are always glued to the hip,” Tim said.
“So what?” You growled back.
“You make me feel like I’m not good enough for you,” Tim said.
“Bullshit!” You growled shooting up to sit up.
You didn’t think it was possible, but you swore his eyes grew darker.
“Whenever you say jump, I fucking jump. We hardly do what I want to do on my date nights. I always do what you want. I cater to your fucking ass. So don’t sit here and try to tell me that I don’t make you number one. That’s bullshit,” You snarled.
Before the two of you could start getting into a huge argument your front door bust open. Jason, Dick, and Damian came storming in.
“You!” Tim yelled before shoving you off the couch.
“Hey!” Damian shouted.
“Now!” Dick yelled.
Dick and Jason tossed water into Tim’s face. He screamed and fell to his knees. Damian was at your side helping you up to your feet and away from Tim.
“Now, padre!” Jason yelled.
You looked up to see a priest walk in and he started an exorcism.
“No!” Tim screamed and he lunged at the priest, but Dick and Jason were stopping him.
Damian sat with you while his brothers hold down Tim and the priest continues to do his exorcism. You were shaking as you listened to Tim scream in pain. The exorcism was going on forever. It felt like Tim’s scream were never going to stop.
Finally, Tim stopped screaming and slumped forward. Jason and Dick slowly lowered him down. You scrambled away from Damian so you could check on Tim. You rolled him onto his back and brushed his hair out of his eyes.
“Tim,” You whispered.
He whimpered.
“It’s okay Tim,” You softly said.
“I’m sorry,” Tim croaked.
“Don’t apologize,” You said.
“I said some mean things,” Tim said.
“I know, but it doesn’t bother me,” You told him.
“I love you,” Tim said.
You smiled. “I love you too.”
You looked up at the others.
“No more fucking ouija board, got it?” You snapped.
“Yeah,” All four of them said.
You sat back with Tim in your lap and let out a long sigh. This was enough scary bullshit for you to last a lifetime.

Have you ever heard “for you” by tonight alive? it’s pretty sappy, but it has such strong birdflash vibes “for you I would fly without wings/and for you I would run like the sun chases the moon”
I must admit, this is the first piece I’ve written that feels fluid for a long time. Thank you for sending me a song, it is a lovely one (definitely screams Birdflash, haha!). For everyone else who’s sent a request, I swear I am still slowly working on them, and I promise you’ll get a little something as well. :)
Birdflash drabble #4 - A little more than best friends
No warnings aside from the risk of cavities… Ah, and no beta’d and written by a messy non-English writer hahaha.
     It started as a simple conversation, a simple idea Donna threw in the air and that the team picked on. With the summer holiday coming to an end and the first day of school approaching fast, the five friends decided to have one last evening of fun before getting dragged back to the dull yet stressful routine that came with every Septembers. Sitting at the terrace of their favourite cafe, each shared their desires. Garth suggested going to the lake now that most tourists were gone, Roy was fine with anything as long as he could bring his itty bitty daughter. Wally wasn’t very picky, unlike when they organized outings that were related to restaurants. Dick mentioned wanting to make a bond fire, and Donna only wanted to go someplace where she could expand her portfolio by taking pictures of the scenery.
“Alright so let me just summarize what we have so far.” She had kept track of everyone’s wishes by scribbling down on a napkin. “We are looking to go somewhere with a place to swim, somewhere that’s safe for little Lian and where it is okay to make a fire.” Her friends nodded.
“Wally doesn’t care as long as we bring enough food for his bottomless stomach.” Dick, the youngest of the team, snickered before he and his best friend began a playful “poke war.”
Donna gently tapped her bottom lip with the end of her pen as she thought of a place that could satisfy everyone.  "Oh.“ Her eyes light up. “How about we go to the Moonstone river? I went there once with my photography class. Granted, it is a bit of a treck to get there, but it fits pretty much everyone’s request. And we could camp for the night.” Donna watched as her friends thought about it and seemed to agree on her proposal. With a smile, she announced: “Then it’s decided! We will meet early on Thursday and spend the night there.” Each rose their drink and cheered.
     It was already sunny when the group met at the entrance of the provincial park. Dick was the first on sight when Donna and Garth arrived. Roy followed shortly; his daughter held his hand and hopped as she played imaginary hopscotch. As always, Wally was the last one to get there and was shy of being half an hour late. Funnily enough, Lian was the one to scold him for taking so long.
The walk up to the river took the group two hours to complete, which was relatively fast seeing how often they had to stop either because Donna argued she wouldn’t forgive them if they didn’t let her take that one perfect shot of birds and wildflowers, or to entertain the toddler who occasionally got tired of walking. With Lian riding his back, Wally became her private “horsey” and was ordered to run up the slope as fast as he could.
“You’re slow, West.” Of course, Dick had to tease him. And of course, Wally took it as a challenge. The two began to walk with long strides, teasing the other when one gained some distance. The rest of the group watched them hurry, shaking their heads as they were used to their silly shenanigans.  Once they reached the top, Wally and Dick were out of breath with Wally sitting down and Dick leaning on his knees.
     As expected, the provincial park’s river was beautiful. The water trickled down the rocks and reflected the sun; it was surprisingly not too cold to the touch. A few people had already claimed some spots around the water, but it was relatively calm, and the group didn’t have trouble finding their perfect place to camp. Putting their backpacks down, Garth and Wally hurriedly undressed and jumped into the water with Wally immediately regretting it. “It’s cold!”Meanwhile, Roy helped his daughter take out her clothes and gently applied sunscreen to her sensitive skin. The young father talked with his child, a relaxed and fond look softening his face. Dick watched them from afar, smiling and remembering how his father used to speak to him with a similar expression before passing away. At the same time, Donna was already taking pictures of everyone. She always said that the best photos were taken au naturel. A big, wet golden retriever whose smile could melt the iciest hearts ran up to her to greet her while ignoring his owner’s calls.
“A puppy!” Not even after a blink, Wally was next to her on the floor and hugging, kissing the wet dog. “Who’s a good boy? What’s your name? Where do you come from? Are you having fun?” He talked with a high pitch voice which caused the dog to wag its tail even harder. “Donna! Donna! You better immortalize this beautiful creature with your super photographing skills!” Ah yes, Wally sure loved dogs. But his canine friend noticed someone else and without a goodbye, ran past him to jump on another unexpected victim. Dick was halfway into the water, showing off his ricochet skills to Lian,  when the golden retriever jumped next to him, making a splash big enough to soak him entirely. There was a couple of laughs as the teenager’s cheeks turned a little pink.
     When the evening came, the sun began its journey to the west, leaving the sky like a palette of pink and blue. Most of the people had left earlier, and eventually, the team had to say goodbye to Mr. Snufflekins the golden retriever who had “helped” them collect enough wood to start their fire. Once it was big enough, the five friends began to prepare their meal: hot dogs cooked over the fire and roasted marshmallows. Because most of them had a competitive nature, they decided to make the marshmallow prepping a contest; the person who made a marshmallow with a delicate crust on the outside, but still soft in the inside would be crowned king or queen of the fire. And because the truth always comes out of a children’s mouth, Lian was designed as the judge for the contest. Carefully, she took a bite of each marshmallow, looking as if she was degusting them with the taste bud of a real chef. Finally, she proclaimed her overly burnt entry as the winner and no one dared challenge her choice. Laughter and horrible singing attempts filled the silence of the night. Garth was the first one to fall asleep, hugging an empty backpack and a kid playing with his hair. Wally dared Roy to draw on his face but was disappointed when he learned of the lack of marker.
     When dawn came, Dick was still awake. Sitting with his arms loosely hugging his knees, he watched as the moon and the stars shared the sky with the rising sun. The trickle of the river along with the melody of the songbirds made everything so peaceful. Most of his friends were still asleep, having consumed too much food, energy and, yes, a couple of beers. Someone sat next to him, yawning loudly and stretching. “What are you doing up so early? I thought you were a night owl?” Wally asked as he followed the younger man’s gaze.
“And miss this?” Dick grinned, listening as Wally hummed next to him. They remained like this for a while, comfortable with the silence that settled between them.
“You know, I think I might have a little too much to drink yesterday.”
Wally turned his head toward his best friend. There was a slight tint of pink on his face. “Yeah?” Dick’s smile was soft, and Wally felt as if his blue eyes had captured the stars and the moon for they were shining with something magical. Wally felt drawn to him; his hand moved to gently cup his best friend’s cheek without him realizing. Dick’s skin felt cool to the touch, and Wally could feel him accept the touch as he pressed against his palm. Something was happening, he told himself. There was a spark in his eyes, a zing in his heart. It was just like any cliche movies described it, and Wally wondered if Dick was feeling the same thing.
As if Nature was encouraging him, Wally leaned a little closer as the breeze gently pushed his back. There was a moment of hesitation as if neither boys knew what they were doing. “Dude, can I…” Wally started. For once he felt at a loss of words. Dick’s hand rested over his as he nodded. Shortly after, their lips were sealed, and their arms moved so they could embrace each other tenderly. The moment only lasted for seconds, but to them, it felt like a lifetime.
“I guess that makes us something a little more than best friends,” Dick said, his voice a little unsure. Wally gently lowered him to the ground, holding him as if he was a porcelain doll who could break with any sudden movement.
“Who said we can’t be best friends and something a little more?”

Note
I hv this college AU in my head where all the bat kids (of age so i guess no Damian) are in uni and meet/hang with the teen titans and young justice bunch Wally snd Dick do sports together, Steph and Duke judge from afar while fooling around with board games. Jason and Victor Stone play beer pong idk i fuck with it
Note: you know, I was just gonna say YES, I LOVE THIS and then my dumbass brain went, “Write a thing. Write a thing. Write it hoe.” so here’s 1.5k of utter madness.
Warnings: Alcohol consumption. Lot’s of it.
He may not remember how he made it back into his bed, with only one shoe, no socks and glitter in his hair. But he definitely remembers how it all started.
The break begins with Dick banging on his door at the ass crack of dawn, a disgruntled Tim in tow and a bellini in hand.
“Carpe diem, baby bro.”
They fumble their way through making breakfast, keeping Alfred on facetime even with all the swearing and cursing and dropped utensils. Damian pops across the screen from time to time to whine about being bored at home and mock their collective incompetence.
It’s a huge spread; they’re cooking for mostly college athletes, after all. Dick goes around forcing extra bits of bacon and pancakes and fruit onto the freshman’s plates. Bart and Jaime dig in earnestly, but Tim takes an extra dose of coaxing because he’s too stubborn for his own good. Dick persists though, roping in a sagely Steph to remind Tim that he’ll probably be the first one to pass out anyways.
“Hey. Hey! No assignments at the table, today’s about getting wasted.”
Raven flips Wally the bird, slapping her laptop closed and leaning over to slip it back into Kory’s tote.
“Do something productive,” Garfield says. “Take this and knock it back. Show us who’s boss.”
She leers at the offered beer with disinterest. “It’s not even 10 yet.”
“Exactly, daylight’s burning.”
“I seriously doubt our only goal today is to just get wasted.” Duke’s worried voice draws the attention of all the seniors. They exchange amused glances over his head.
“You poor, innocent little bean,” Zatanna says, throwing her arms around him. “You’re in a frat house full of NCAA athletes and scholastic decathlon nerds who don’t get the chance to drink for most of the semester. Today is absolutely about getting wasted.”
***
He’s somewhere between buzzed and tipsy. Happy in the warmth of the sun.
It’s the first time in a while that he’s felt the tension of school slip away from his shoulders. His assignments are done, his family and friends are all around him and he’s having the time of his life watching Cass mix extra vodka into the already triple spiked rum punch. It’s both disgusting and delicious. And judging from the way Kon’s draped himself over Tim in a nearby lawn chair, it acts fast.
Barrelling straight towards blackout drunk for no other reason than the glory of college is an utterly fascinating idea and Jason finds it hilarious how willing most of them are to participate.
Dick’s already been amped up to giggly and incoherent. He and Wally are hunched over a phone, snickering at something Jason hopes is just the front camera opened up to their stupid faces.
“Here you go, buddy.” Roy’s voice grabs his attention as he passes over a plastic-wrapped sandwich to him. “You good?”
It’s the third time he’s asked for the day. Despite the fact that Jason is kinda wasted, he knows that Roy’s probably a little uncomfortable being around most of the people he loves, watching them get hammered while he’s stone cold sober.
“Yeah. You?” he asks through a bite of tuna on whole wheat.
“Peachy. Wanna go let Steph and Babs crush our asses at poker?”
****
“Can we go get fro-yo?”
Tim’s voice is soft and buttery, the way it gets when he’s shit-faced. Jason can hear Kon murmuring in agreement and Duke’s firm denial over the base of a Rihanna song. They’re a mess of gangly legs, draped over each other on the lumpy couch. He’s so caught up in watching they way their alcohol-induced affection is driving Duke up a wall that he misses Raven taking her turn.
He groans as the ball lands in a red solo cup. Kory grins wildly, hooking her chin over Raven’s shoulder; their both wearing looks of smug victory and he just knows he’s going to have the worst hangover tomorrow as he plucks another half-filled cup between his fingers, forcibly gulping down the amber liquid it holds. Vic slides over for his turn. He throws the ball and lets out a hiss as it misses the cup in the middle of the table, completely. Garth gives Jason a sympathetic head shake as he steps up to throw back the beer.
“It’s not fucking fair. How are you both star football players, bro? You guys suck at this.”
Vic laughs, pointing a finger at him. “I’m letting that slide because you’re the one throwing back my drinks for me.”
“Hey,” Raven intones. “It could be worse, Kory wanted to do this with tequila.”
“I’m actually hoping to leave college with my liver intact. Please, and thank you.”
Steph’s laughter, bubbly and sharp, cuts over the music. “Remember in freshman year when you got high and asked me how likely it was you’d survive a liver transplant?”
“You’re in med school, I thought you would know!”
She still laughing at him when she turns back to the complicated game of jenga she and Cass have had going for the past hour. He’s way too mellow to even begin to understand it, but he strongly suspects Cass is cheating.
***
Somewhere along the lines of beer pong and pizza Artemis Crock and Cissie King-Jones, the ace co-captains of the archery team, talk Duke and Tim into doing shots. He watches for a good ten minutes before he’s suckered right in alongside them. When Tim does inevitably pass out, Kaldur— who’s sober and very amused— lugs him off to bed.
That’s right along his memory get’s fuzzy. He knows there was dancing. He remembers being tugged along by Kory, yelling Beyoncé lyrics at the top of his lungs as he’s sandwiched between his siblings and his friends.
There are flickers of Kyler Rayner doing body shots and double dog dares with Mia Dearden and Connor Hawke. He has a video on his phone of Bart doing a keg stand while Wally looks on with a mixture of horror and pride plastered across his face. There’s a whole album of Dick trying to pet a stray cat, his nose red and the pictures getting blurrier and blurrier as his allergies set in.
After that, he thinks it was suggested that they all go outside to watch the sunrise. Someone— one of the redheads — had placed a steadying hand on his back as he swayed from foot to foot. He’s pretty sure he confessed his undying love to them.
****
When he does wake up, it’s because his head feels ready to fall off his shoulders and his mouth tastes like ass. The whole house stinks of sweat and the floors are sticky with spilt drinks. He bumps into Kon in the hallway, they exchange withering stares and a fist bump before parting ways.
He finds everyone in the kitchen— with the exception of Roy, whose a chipper bastard— in a similar state of dissonance with their bodies. Dick’s got his head in Kory’s lap and his feet in Wally’s. Tim sits across the table from them, staring at a glass of water like it personally offended him and Steph’s on the floor to the left of him, forehead pressed to the fridge. She has glitter in her hair too.
“Mornin’ sunshine,” Roy laughs. “You look like shit warmed over.”
“Thanks, man.” He spares him a glance, “Did you put me to bed last night?”
“I did,” Kory answers, her voice rough like gravel.
“Thanks, dude. Where’d my shoe go?”
“Dunno. Found you without it, I think.”
In the living room, Jaime’s lying face down on the couch with a pillow over his head, Bart keeps shuffling over to check his pulse and then back to the kitchen to gulp down water. Roy feeds them all toast and grins when a fresh-faced Cass breezes in through the doors. She plops a bottle of Advil onto the table gently and then sweeps away to watch the ensuing chaos.
“Me. First.” Tim growls, snatching it out of Dick’s hands.
Steph rouses herself then, looking around the room bleary-eyed. She clocks Jason and his head full of glitter, raising one hand to twist her fingers through her blonde locks, and then her other one to point at him like, “Hey, same.”
Donna drags herself in a little bit later. She immediately flings herself into a chair and drops her head down onto the table with a clunk that surely worsened her hangover headache. Vic and Kaldur, fairing better than the rest of them, snort through their breakfast as Roy peels off his sweatshirt to place it under her head.
He finds his shoe floating in the tub of quadruple rum-punch when their cleaning that evening. Garfield laughs so hard at him for a good ten minutes before clutching his skull and dropping down onto the porch steps, weakly.
At a quarter to four, Duke walks down the steps wearing the face of a man who knows nothing but utter betrayal.
“I’m letting you all know,” he calls. “I am not doing this again next year. I feel like death and I wanna call Alfred and cry.”
“Aw, Duke,” Dick coos. “Same.”

Not Possible
Thanksgiving was over, everyone that visited was gone except her mother. Artemis shut her bedroom door, pacing the floor as she ripped her jacket off and threw it on the desk. There was no way in hell she was ever going to get with Will. It was wrong! He was her brother-in-law, for Christ’s sake! He and Jade may not have been married anymore, but it was still wrong, and the thought made her skin crawl!
 “Where the hell does she get off?” Artemis growled, sitting on the bed and clenching her hands. She sighed and shook her head, trying to clear the thought from her mind before she got sick thinking about it. The more she tried to clear it, the more the glances she gave him, and the ones he returned made her pause. “No. It’d be wrong. I could not mess Lian up like that. It’s bad enough Jade’s ditched her, and I will not be responsible for more trauma to a three-year-old!”
 Picking up the picture of her and Wally, Artemis ran her fingers over his image softly. Over two years and she was still in love with that ginger idiot. Their life had been perfect out of the life. No missions, no broken bones, no hospital stays, no ruined days except for bad grades and worse teachers. When had it all changed and gone so wrong? “Oh, right,” she remembered bitterly, the day Dick called and asked for her help on a deep cover mission.
 “Artemis? I know I’m probably the last person you want to hear from right now, but I need your help. Kaldur’s on a deep cover mission and it’s going belly up. I need—”
 “Where do I need to be and where?” Artemis asked, already running a checklist in her mind as she started looking through the closet, moving clothes and grabbing a bag that had her suit in it. Listening to Dick’s instructions and timeline, Artemis packed up and put her phone in her pocket, feeling Wally at the doorframe.
 “What’s Dick want?” Wally asked, his arms crossed as he watched Artemis. “What are you packing for?”
 Sighing, the blonde archer turned and looked at her boyfriend. “He asked me for help. Kaldur’s in deep cover with Manta, has been since after Tula’s funeral. He’s asking me to go in as a new identity, glamour charm to disguise myself. I told him I would, Wally. Kaldur’s my friend, and I— “
 “He’s my friend too,” Wally said. “And you’re just jumping at this? No questions asked, no “Let me talk to Wally”, no nothing? That isn’t fair, Artemis, and you know it.”
 Artemis nodded, sighing softly and knowing that Wally was right. “You’re right, it isn’t fair,” she said. She set her bag down and put her hand on Wally’s cheek. “I’m meeting Dick tonight in Blüdhaven, come with me and learn what I have to, that way you’re involved. Please? I…I don’t want us fighting about this and having it fester while I’m gone, Wally.”
 Wally nodded softly, turning his head and kissing Artemis’ palm. “Alright. I’ll come. It’s just the four of us that know?”
 “Yeah,” Artemis nodded. “M’gann and Connor don’t, and…they’re not on speaking terms for some reason, M’gann hasn’t told me why. It’s best to keep them out of it for now.”
 “They deserve to know, Artemis. They’re the rest of the Original Six.”
 “And if we tell them about this, and word gets out that something isn’t right, that’s more people that get detained and interrogated by the Reach, or the Light, or the League. We have to keep them out of it. Until we have to spill the beans.”
 “Yeah, that worked like a damn charm,” Artemis muttered, setting the picture down. “She fried Kaldur’s mind, I had to kidnap her, and it didn’t work the way it should have. It all went to hell.” Standing up and looking out of the window, seeing the streetlights illuminating the street below. Sighing as she shut the window, Artemis looked over as a knock sounded on her door. Walking over, she opened it and came face to face with Will. “What?”
 “You alright? You and Paula seemed at each other’s throats the rest of the night,” Will said. “Especially after her biting your head off for being back on the Team.”
 Artemis sighed, backing up and pinching her nose. She sat on the bed and watched Will lean against the door. “She seems to think there’s something between us. With how I look at you, or you look at me, or the way we work off each other keeping Lian, Violet, Tara, and everything else going. Trying to guilt me into admitting feelings that are not there,” she said. “It doesn’t help matters that if I don’t realize it’s you, seeing you from the back reminds me of Wally. It—” She ran her hand over her face and sighed, shaking her head. “Will, tonight was the closest I came to actually smacking my mother. Something I’ve never done or thought about. This is one time she was out of line, and I…I didn’t know what to say except that it’d never happen.”
 Will nodded. “I’ll be honest, Artemis…with Jade disappearing, Lian does need some sort of a mother figure in her life, and you’re doing the best you can, even with being back in the life. I’ve toyed with the idea of going out to start dating again, but with the Security firm, trying to keep the house up, new strays coming in every other week—”
 “I told Dick we need to stop picking up strays,” Artemis said with a bemused smile.
 Will laughed and nodded. “But he don’t listen,” he said. “Artemis, when you were working on Violet’s school enrollment, Jade was outside. She told me to move on, that she wasn’t coming back. She still thinks she’s too damaged to have a family, a life outside of the life. I tried to convince her, but she didn’t listen. She’s moved on, and I think it’s time I have to, too. I can’t wait for Jade. Not anymore. I still love her, that’s never going to change, but I can’t change her heart or her mind.”
 He sighed and ran his hand in his hair, pushing off of the doorframe. “Your mom’s wrong. The only glances I give are ones of thanks, because without your help, I’m pretty sure this house would fall apart and Lian would be taken by Child Services and shipped off somewhere else. You’re keeping the ship running while I’m busting my butt to keep the lights on. “
 “Hey, Lian’s my niece. I’ll always help when it comes to her. I love that little monster,” Artemis said with a small smile. “I know that…I’m not an easy person to live with, but…thank you, Will. For taking me in after Wally disappeared, letting me stay here while I worked on my degree.”
 Will smiled. “You’re welcome,” he said. “Don’t let Paula get to you. You’re still holding out hope that Wally’s going to come back, and honestly, so are me and Dick. Don’t listen to her about this. Be the person you know you have to be, and that’s Tigress. You’ll find happiness again, just like I will. It’s a slow process, but it’ll happen. Trust me, I’m kind of an expert on the whole “Getting back on the wagon after losing yourself” after what I did for five years, trying to find Roy.”
 Artemis nodded, getting up and biting her lip. She walked over and hugged Will, closing her eyes. “Thanks. I needed this conversation.”
 Will nodded, hugging Artemis back. “Anytime, Stripes.” He pulled back and backed up. “Get some rest. Tomorrow Lian wants a Christmas Tree.”
 Artemis snickered and saluted. “And whatever she wants, she gets. Aye, aye, Captain. I’ll be right as rain to find a good tree for Christmas.” She watched Will walk back down the hall to the living room, and she shut her door softly, locking it again and kicking her boots off to sit beside the window. Sitting on the bed, she ran her hand through her long, blonde hair, smiling softly. “He’s right…I am still holding out hope for Wally. I’ll give it until the three-year anniversary of his disappearance. If he doesn’t come back, then I’ll move on. Not one minute sooner. That’s my solid vow. Not one goddamn minute sooner.”
 Changing and laying back on the bed, staring at the picture of herself, Wally, and Brucely again, the archer smiled softly and closed her eyes, feeling better than she had all night. Her mother was wrong, and she knew it deep inside. If she had to move on, she knew it wouldn’t be with Will, but with someone she could connect with outside of the life. She had friends outside of her hero community, she just had to be willing to let go of the past.
 “Seven months…you got seven months to come back, West. You have to,” she whispered, drifting off to sleep.

Ok so we know Raven travelling the multiverse could easily be a thing, but what about someone else? Like, an older!Damian from a Damirae universe accidentally popping up in a jayrae universe and being like "Ok but can someone help me find my Raven? She likes bunnies, hates pink and somehow loves my arrogant ass."
Hello,
Alright, I adored your idea so much that I just had to ask @chromium7sky if I could use her batlings for this fic idea and it has kind of spiraled into a mini story which will be sporadically but regularly updated along with I’ve Got the Umbrella.
Now it is set in the Hopes for a Bastard Universe, so there might be minor spoilers in it, but overall I don’t think it has many spoilers. So I hope you enjoy the story! =)
@chromium7sky Thank you for allowing me to use the batlings for this piece and I hope you enjoy the results! =)
SPOILERS FOR HOPES FOR A BASTARD AHEAD!
Welcome to Chaos!
Demon Babies
Damian walked around the Manor tiredly as he rubbed the backof the wailing baby, Ingram wasn’t having a good night. Raven was literallyexhausted into a fever and chills, his wife had never looked so poor in health;even after some of the attacks they had been through. So, in concern for his wifehe had insisted that she take the next few days off, with Kori, and just restat one of those spas women always liked. Now he had four children under the ageof five in his care.
How The Hell Raven Handled This He Did Not Know! But heavowed to never belittle or berate his wife’s wondrous parenting abilities ashe paced the nursery with a howling Ingram, while trying not to trip on thetwins toys, and with Casimir trailing after him holding Huckleberry Fin in handas Damian called Dick for help. Dick, or Maya, or Tim; hell even Jason would doat the moment because Jason had that magic with kids that always had kids doingwhat he told them to do.
“Papa!” Cas whined.
“Papa is on the phone,” he said softly to Cas and those largelilac eyes filled with tears. Damian admitted surrender now as he tossed thephone aside, knelt down with a screaming Ingo and picked up the book.
“AH! That Mine!” one of the twins shouted which had theother screaming, then there was a crash. Damian reluctantly set Ingram in thecrib before darting out of the nursery to find the two troublemakers sitting inthe remains of a Ming Dynasty vase. Tears were blooming in those mismatchedeyes as the two dark heads, with violet undertones turned to him.
“Papa!” they both wailed, Damian just scooped them up,tossing Raynor over his shoulder as Jason always did which produced a gigglefrom the sniffling toddler before he kissed Fawke’s head and walked them intothe nursery.
“Alright, bed time!” he sighed in defeat and wondered forthe thousandth time how father had managed to make handling them easy. WranglingCas for bed apparently involved bribery of Huckleberry Fin being read, whichfinally enticed his eldest to his ‘big boy bed’.
Damian settled with Ingram on his chest as the baby hadcried himself to sleep, opened the book and had three sets of eyes on him as hestarted to read where Raven had marked the finishing point. Six eyes starteddrooping as his own felt heavy reading.
How Raven did this daily when he was on patrol he did notknow but Damian was never taking his wife for granted again! Raven was clearlya saint, and he would worship her thoroughly when she returned, and he’dpossibly get a vasectomy. These four were more of a handful than their cousins.And that was saying something as all Bats were handful.
Slow his own eyes were closing as his hand fell limp withhis book.
He didn’t remember nodding off as his head fell to the side.
~~~*~*~*~~~
Jason ran over the rooftops, lightly, as he leapt over the gaps.He twisted as he intercepted a fist and smiled before he twisted around to slamthe back of his leg into the Assassin before he knocked him off balance thencaught the other. Throwing his weight into the fight he twisted the other man’sarm behind his back for it to break viciously before he knocked the other intohis fallen comrade. Leaping away he twisted back, flipping through the air ashis hand caught the ledge of the building and he swung himself upwards to slamhis knees into the other on comer.
She stood before him, her boots polished, and his eyesflicked up to her as he stood.
“Talia,” he greeted the shorter woman. Her predatory greeneyes flicked towards him.
“You have not lost your touch, Jason,” she observed.
“What do you want?”
“My child.”
“Well, talk to B,” he suggested.
“You will get him back for me,” she stated.
“Ya-No. Leave me out of it Talia, and the next time you sendyour cronies after me I’ll send them back in body bags,” he waved her offbefore leaping down to the street where he melted into the crowd as he slid hisdomino mask into his pocket. Jason glanced at the time, he was running late,but he figured if he jogged he’d get there in time.
He had agreed, with great reluctance to take Lian, Terry,Helena and Mar'i for the weekend so B, Selina, Tim, and family could go to Dick’srehearsal wedding. Roy had a function with the Queens, which was why Jay hadLian with the rest the brats, and Raven was his back up because the Maid ofHonor had finals she couldn’t miss. Stephanie and Cass were at the rehearsal weddingbecause Stephanie had finished her finals before Raven had. Damian was alsostaying behind because he had a school thing before the break for the wedding,then Jay was driving the rest of them up to Vermont for the wedding.
His phone rang and he picked it up. “Yeah, I’m almost to thestation, I got a bit side tracked.”
“Really Jay! I got a plane to catch!” Roy snapped.
“Cool your tits I’m walking in the building now.” hesnapped. Roy and Lian were at their meeting spot with Ace who was wagging histail as Jason approached and Lian squealed in delight then.
“Heyya kiddo,” Jason smiled at the grinning baby who grabbedfor him and Jason smoothly slid her onto his hip from Roy’s grasp as he tooktheir designated diaper bag and the leash.
“Kay, you have all the shit, I have a plane, I’ll see youguys in Vermont for the wedding,” Roy said.
“Don’t kill Queen!” Jason called after his best friend.
“Trying not to!” Roy shouted back as he disappeared into thecrowd. Jason smiled a bit as Lian patted his cheek.
“Ready to go pretty girl?” he asked as they walked.
“Jay!”
“Yeah, yeah, I got you, heel Ace,” he ordered.
~~~*~*~*~~~
Raven lounged on her hotel bed contemplating if she shouldor should not call her husband to see if he was handling everything alright.Her empathy read only exhaustion and frustration from him, and she completelyunderstood that.
Cas was the easy baby, oh she’d preach that to her dying days.Casimir was the EASY child.
Raynor and Fawke, mischievous, but sweethearts and innocentwith their father’s boundless energy. Energy she supposed was because Bats werenaturally boundless with energy, and if she didn’t happen to know the Bats werehuman she’d have thought them demons in disguise; and that was coming from her.
Then there was Ingram. Ingram was her most difficult, clingybaby and he was colicky to the point of clingy which the others simply werenot. It was rather maddening, and endearing. Ingo was a mama’s boy, and she knewit.
Raven bit her lip as she sat up and hesitantly she reachedfor the phone then pulled away.
No. No, she would Not be THAT wife who had no faith in her husband taking care of THEIRchildren.
She loved Damian, she had loved him since she was fifteen.He was an eternal pain in her ass, but she loved the infuriating, angry Robinand watched him grow into a compassionate young Nightwing and now was becominga confident Batman. She loved him, she loved him more than life itself. Sighingshe laid back down on her bed and stared at the ceiling.
It wouldn’t be cheating if she just slipped over there tocheck in and make sure the house hadn’t been burned to the ground, would it?
Her husband could not cook, and if it were not for Jason thenshe had no doubts they’d have starved. She knew that her brother-in-law hadleft the fridge full of left overs before he had left on his weekend… actuallyshe didn’t know what Jason was doing in his down time, he didn’t share what itwas he was up to. Tim and Stephanie were in New York for a business conference.Mar'i was on a Titan’s mission in deep space. Dick was off on his own missionwith B. Maya had the LoA to run. Jon didn’t know about their children yet; andthat had been a bit of a terrible headache argument between her and Damian. AndSelina was out with the Sirens.
Raven bit her lips as she sat up and thought about just peekingin to check on her husband and children.
She should just to make sure they were alright.
No. No, she was not that woman! She would enjoy her weekendand return home and put out whatever fires had happened in her absence. Hopefullyno one would be raising hell or something.
But she would enjoy her husband’s thoughtful gift of aweekend off.
She could do that for him.
~~~*~*~*~~~
Raven walked into theManor, with a portal because she was too tired to even attempt to be a normalGothamite, and use the public transportation. She had had a hell of a day,studying at last minute. Only for Artemis to interrupt her with the insistence ofshopping for a wedding gift for Dick and Kori because Artemis was Jason’s plus onefor the wedding.
Raven would have gone with Jay except she had agreed, thatas the maid of honor she should be paired with a groomsman for the weekend. Shewas with Wally for the weekend of the wedding, and that was fine with her becauseWally was falling for someone else.
Something slammed into her knees and sent her stumbling downthe stairs with a squeak. She slammed into someone on her way down and theycrashed in a tangle of familiar limbs at the bottom of the stairs.
“Sunshine!” he groaned.
“Jay!” Terry screamed as the near three year old ran downthe stairs with the nimble abilities of a Bat.
“Sorry,” she mumbled as she sat up, straddling his stomach catchingTerry before he tripped and floated him around to be hugged by her.
“What is it with you and running into me Queen?” Jason asked.
“I wasn’t paying attention, I was looking for my book so Icould go study, my final is Monday,” she said.
“True. Kay, now get off,” Jason ordered as they heard theother hellions coming and a dog bark.
“Where’s Damian?”
“He said he’d be back tonight, I agreed with B to take himpatrolling, though I think it’s a bad idea.”
“Alright, and Cat?”
“She and Kori collaborated on a list for you and the threehellions.” Jason said pulling it from his pocket and handing it to her as theystood. Raven looked it over.
“I can handle this,” she decided.
“Good,” Jason nodded.
“Your date asked me to help her buy a wedding dress and giftfor Dick and Kori,” Raven announced setting to toddler down as they walked.Terry immediately squealed as he hugged Jason’s ankle like a lead weight.Helena appeared holding onto a flying, flaming Mar'i with Lian holding ontoAce.
“Hey girls, we’re going to have fun tonight!” Raven smiledas she levitated the girls, who squealed in delight.
“What did you help her buy them?” Jason asked.
“I talked her off of weapons and she agreed to giving them awaffle iron,” Raven shrugged. “It’s the only thing not check off theirregistry!”
“Why do they need a waffle iron!? They’re moving into theManor which has everything?” then he arched his brow as his eyes narrowed onher. “It’s for you.”
“No, I swear, I’ll give you the registry,” she defended herlie valiantly.
“You suck at lying, little bird,” Jason stated blandly.
“Fine, it’s for me, but the Sirens don’t have one and I’m abroke college student,” she stated.
“You are a devious demon.”
“Queen of Hell, not Heaven.”
“True shit.”
Being the daughter of Barry Allen and Jason Todd’s significant other includes:
A/N: I hope this is up to your liking! If not, just request again with more details! And if you want a second installation to this which includes Bart, just ask, don’t be shy.
Requested by: @gradeatrash123
next
Your dad adores you so much; you’re his baby girl
I’m going on a limb here and say that you’re the oldest of your siblings - Don and Dawn
So growing up with your family, you’re a mix of Barry and Iris - dorky, silly, stubborn and flirty when need be
You’re also a speedster and Barry is a really great mentor. An easily jealous one, Iris may add, because whenever Wally tries teaching you, your father has this pouty look on his face. Jay merely smiles and will personally mentor you when he wants to tease Barry. Of course, all these speedsters are your mentors; you’re a family
Whenever you need help, you know you can approach any of them for help. And if it involves you crying, someone needs some beating up to the future and back, of course not literally. Maybe literally. Just don’t tell Iris and Joan
He brings you to meet the other heroes a lot, especially Hal and Oliver/Dinah. They grow to love you and see you as their own baby girl, much to Barry’s displeasure
You become a sidekick to your dad as much as Wally is
Hal will teach you the ways of flirting but you never have the heart to tell him you are an expert in that area thanks to your mother
Dinah will bring you (and occasionally Iris and Dawn) for a girl’s night out which includes going to the mall, mani and pedi, etc with some ass-kicking at the end of the night. Iris will be just a happy and proud by-stander
You got to meet Roy when he was still under Oliver’s mentorship and you both hit it off well. You guys become great friends, partners-in-crime even. Not really in crime, maybe sometimes, but just harmless pranks
Wally is usually the victim of these pranks and it always ends with a cold shoulder from him but with some affections, he will forgive you. Roy, not so much
When Oliver and Roy fought, both of you drifted and you hang out more with Wally instead
But, Wally has the (teen) Titans and even if you are invited to it, you refused. So you spend these time with your siblings or doing your own gig
Your siblings love you and whatever tricks they pick up from you always end with Barry just sighing and Iris giving you a disapproval look
But you are there with a proud grin and it is hard to be mad at them considering how they’re always looking at you for approval of some sort
You are the best older sister they can ask for as you help them with homework, hero missions, heartaches and everything in between
Having your own gig - after blessings from your mother and a hesitant father - means racing across the country and the world
You are more involved with missions overseas as America itself has heroes stationed across the country so there is little work for you within the country
During these missions overseas, you will take your time - sometimes it’s good to slow down as advised by Iris - to explore the city and of course getting some souvenirs for your family. Gag gifts are usually given to Wally, he still keeps them though
You meet the outlaws once on a mission overseas. While they are fighting off some goons, you are there for sightseeing after a mission well-done the morning before
After defeating them and seeing you are the only one around other than them, Roy realise how familiar you look and call out to you
You run to him to hug him and in your excitement, you forget about your powers so Roy ends up with more bruises from you than the goons themselves
Jason link your speed to the Flash fam and take note that you are the girl he always see with Wally when he was Robin so it all click in his head on how you are Barry’s daughter
Kori, not so much
After a hug session with Roy which ends with his almost death, you introduce yourself to the other two and Kori take an instant liking to you. If Iris was there, she would say how it is a perk of being a West-Allen
Jason couldn’t care less but seeing his best friend being more hyped with you around, he does not mind you sticking around
He realise why later on when he sees you two crafting some weapon together. At that moment, he realised he made decision
You didn’t really stay with them but return home when the day ends. But you’ll always come back after finishing your mission the following day
When Roy and Kori hook up, you and Jason feel compelled to spend more time together and leave them be. So there are days where both of you will explore the city together
“And you didn’t invite me? I thought I was your best friend?”
“We shall leave them be Roy, I sense love brewing within them.”
“OOooOOoo. I get to be best man!”
Jason wish you stay overnight sometimes
When Wally is lost in the speed force and everyone forgot him, you too forgot about him. But, you always had this empty feeling in your chest whenever you work at Star Labs without him there
At attempts to get the empty feeling in your soul, you travel more often and that means spending more time with Jason
Roy is with the Titans and Kori with the Teen Titans so it only leaves you two
Jason didn’t mind and find your presence to be calming. You two always joke around and sometimes flirt with each other. Okay, maybe more than just sometimes
Jason is overprotective of you so whenever the people he’s dealing with are uncultured swines, he makes sure they will not be interacting with you
After missions, you two will spend the rest  of the day walking through the city and if it’s late, to the bar you will go
You can’t get drunk and Jason has a high tolerance for it but it’s funny seeing a dorky side to Jason when he does get drunk
So when you didn’t show up one day and the few days after that, he gets a bit lonely but he brushes it off since he has missions to do
So when all is done and over, he returns to Gotham and all he can think of is you. He tries filling his days by helping his family, he’d rather be beaten by the Joker again than admitting that, but when the nights get a bit too long for his liking with no criminals to beat up, his mind always wanders back to you and what you’re doing in his absence
Dick, being the ever-perceptive older brother, knows he has girl troubles so he messages you
And one silent night, you speed over to the clock tower in Gotham, and there you see Jason sitting with his favourite gargoyle
When he turns to find you instead of his brothers, he is taken aback but before he can say  anything, words tumble out of your mouth at the speed of light and he cannot understand a single thing
So he approaches you, put his hands on your shoulder and tell you to slow down which you did and repeat the whole thing and he understands that you have been spending those days with Wally after him getting out of the speed force
You apologise over and over and to stop you from apologising again, he kisses you, after taking out his mask of course
Your eyes widen before fluttering to a close and you pull him closer by his leather jacket
His brothers are in the building over and are witnessing the whole thing. Dick is taking pictures and sending them to Wally
Wally sends them over to Barry and he is screeching
What A Destiny Ch. 3
Jason Todd x Reader soulmate au
Series Summary: You’re not from this universe, yet you somehow ended up here… in a universe you’d always wanted to escape to, yet feared the consequences of. You’re not here by mistake but who’s to say?
Chapter Summary: Kara has put herself at jeopardy telling Dick and Jason the truth about Y/N’s existence, something Batman warned against. Kara and Dick want nothing more than to help a furious Jason with the help of some friends find and rescue his soulmate.
Warnings: Yelling, Cursing, Unnecessary Rude Attitudes, Anxiety, Panic, Fighting, Violence, Forest Fires, Arson, Injuries, Blood, Pain, Magic and Feinting.
Catch Up Here: Chapter One, Chapter Two
A/N: So due to a great response and demand I’m continuing to write this, however, past where Jason and his soulmate actually meet I’m not sure entirely where to take this so if anyone has any ideas or things they’d like to see, please suggest them to me <3 It’d be much appreciated... now, enjoy! :D
Tumblr media
Kara pulled out her phone as she flew from the Watchtower to Bludhaven, “Dick, there’s something you need to know. I need your help.”
3rd Person POV
“Wait, wait, wait.... Repeat that to me again, but slower this time.” Dick holds his hand up in the air for dramatization, his eyebrows furrowed, slightly shaking of his head.
“O-okay! So I was at the Watchtower and a couple of weeks ago, probably a month by now if I’m being honest-”
“Get on with it!”
“- there’s this girl we found who came from another universe and she’s Jason’s soulmate! There! That’s all I know!” Kara’s words still came out more rushed than Dick probably would’ve liked but her message still got across to him.
“You’re sure about this?” Dick asks, cautious as this tale seems super far-fetched and if they want Jason to believe it at all then Kara will need to tell the whole story.
“Positive.” She affirms, nodding her head.
“Let me get Jason over here, first. Stay here.” Dick quickly unlocked his phone and dialed Jason’s number as he moved to the other side of Kara’s apartment, wanting Kara to hear as little of the fighting that’d pursue as she could... but then again, Dick just remembered she has super hearing, so of course his effort would be almost pointless... I suppose it’s just the thought that counts.
Jason’s  POV
“You didn’t tell anyone you came here, right?”
“Wha- no? Why? Should I h-”
“Were you followed?”
“What? No, Dick! What the hell is going on? You’re freaking out like a kid who’s trying to hide something from their parents.”
“Well, that’s kind of exactly what’s going on.” Kara plays with her hands as she approaches slowly from the next room, presenting herself.
“Let me guess,” I chuckle to myself, “you messed up big time, and you need my help?” I pause after the words come out of my mouth, my brows furrowing, “No, that wouldn’t make sense. Why are you here?” Pointing and shifting my body to face more towards Kara, arms folding themselves as I’m curious as to why I was drug here even more now.
“Well this is my apartment, so it wouldn’t really make sense as to why I wouldn’t be here? Why are you guys in here?” Kara makes a weird face, shrugging as her palms face the ceiling.
“I was just trying to figure that out...” I don’t have patience or the time for silly games, “I swear if you only brought me here for some sort of silly gam-”
“Jason you need to sit down.” Dick walks over to me, pushing on my shoulders to get me to sit down but I don’t budge.
“Why?” I shift my gaze from a nervous Kara to a panicked Dick, which doesn’t help considering, “You never act like this Dick, what is going on?!” I start to raise my voice accidentally, their nervousness getting to me.
Just as Dick is about to answer there’s a knock at the door and a few thumps outside on the fire escape. “You set me up!”
“I didn’t!” I watch as Roy steps through the fire escape and into the living room. Turning around I watch as Kara answers the door, the Teen Titans as well as Tim and Wally step through.
“Is this an intervention? I’m really flattered Dick, really...” Panic and worry begin to flood my system as there must be something going on if this many people were invited to the party. I try to put off that I’m calm by taking Dick’s suggestion of sitting down.
“Long time no see,” I get up to hug Roy as he approaches.
“Yeah, well, when you get the call that one of your best friends needs a hand and is into something serious, you gotta wonder what he’s gotten himself into? How’ve you been?”
“T.T if we can get on with this meeting.” Damian interrupts as he squeezes himself between Roy and I to sit on the couch when he literally could’ve just walked around us.
“Right... so... uh, Jason this isn’t exactly an intervention-”
“I knew it!”
“-uh... yeah... well, Jason we found your soulmate.” Dick announces, taking his seat on the armchair across from me. My soulmate? I want to yell at him, to scream, to tell him he’s a liar but I know that Dick would never lie about something like this... let alone joke about it. He still had his soulmate and everyone knew how much he protected and cared for her.
“Congrats Dude! That’s awesome,” Beat Boy slaps my back with a huge grin on his face.
“We came all the way here for this?” Raven questions quietly from the other end of the couch.
“Yes... and no. Jason’s soulmate is... well,”
“Kara you need to tell the whole story... everything, this time.” Dick instructs her as she sits up straighter, pushing herself to sit on the edge of her seat.
The first thing I think after Kara announces her story is that... it makes sense. It really does... considering Tim and Bruce still haven’t found their soulmates, which consequentially caused me to doubt the existence or even potential meeting of my own... it makes sense that the only reason is because they were from another universe. However, how could two people from separate universes be intertwined? Why in God’s name would he do something like that? It doesn’t make any sense. How did she even get here?
“Jason? Are you okay?” I focus back in on my surroundings as someone is waving their hand in front of my face.
“W-what? Yeah... I’m fine, it’s whatever.” I sit back, letting myself be engulfed by the couch as I had no idea when I even sat up to the edge of my seat.
“It’s whatever? This is your soulmate we’re talking about Jason.” Roy says surprised, turning to look at me.
“Jason, everyone, the reason why I called you all here was so that we can come up with a plan to break her out.” Dick informed everyone.
“Break her out of The Watchtower? Are you frickin’ kidding me Nightwing?” Tim asks from his position of sitting cross-legged on the floor.
“Look, we have both Kid Flash and the Flash... it shouldn’t be too hard. We also have Starfire, Arsenal and even Supergirl-”
“No way!” Kara puts her hands up in defense.
“What? What do you mean ‘no way’ Kara, you’re the one who brought this to our attention! The least-”
“The least I could do was bring it to your attention Dick, you didn’t hear the consequences Batman said he’d lay down if anyone told.” Dick seemed to contemplate this for a moment before acceding.
“Fine... we have enough people already.”
“Enough people? You better have a damn good plan Nightwing.” Roy stammers as we all tense a bit at the thought of losing a person.
“I have a plan, here it is.” Dick lays out the plan on paper, mapping out everything which is to go down within exactly an hour, no more, no less. Thirty minutes in and out, no problem. Those were the riskiest missions of all. I didn’t like the odds or the sound of this.
“Okay, Supergirl, Flash, Kid Flash, are you in position?” We receive the a-okay from them as Supergirl had relinquished the fact that she’d at least help us ‘get in’ if not help with the actual fight.
“Arsenal, are you locked and loaded?” Roy gives us a thumbs up from the portal he’d been sent through.
“Raven, do you think you’ll still be able to get this done?” Raven nodded as she seemed to be preparing herself for what was to happen next. “Whenever you’re ready Supergirl...” Dick gave the que and it seemed as if everything happened in slow motion.
Supergirl enters The Watchtower using the teleports, granting us access as both Flash and Kid Flash race inside to at least get my soulmate out of her cell before The Watchtower starts to lock down.
Arsenal starts a fire outside the entrance to The Watchtower with flaming arrows as he shoots them from the hill. By the time they realize what’s going on it’ll be too late. Once Roy is done starting the fire he hops back through the portal into the living room to join us.
“Go!” Dick shouts as Raven teleports the rest of us into The Watchtower.
Y/N’s POV
Looking around the room for the thousandth time I end up staring at the bright florescent lights on the ceiling. Shutting my eyes I return to looking at the cool desk in front of me. I wonder what everyone else in this universe is doing right now... where’s Jason? What’s he doing? After all he is my supposed ‘soulmate’. What about Damian, or the Joker or even I don’t know... Alfred?! I wonder what Alfred does all the time when the boys aren’t home... surely you can’t clean forever.
Yawning, I feel myself dozing off as best as I can with the frickin’ sun always shining in my room, making sure I don’t know whether it’s day or night because I’m a supposed villain which could break out if I knew the time of day apparently.... SIKE! The hell if I were to-
I feel a whoosh of air before I feel as if the world’s spinning and turning, which consequentially churns my stomach and makes me heave for air when it finally stops. I close my eyes as my heads bobs back and forth, threatening to roll back.
Composing myself I look up to see a hand out-stretched to me, waiting for me. “Come on! We don’t have much time!” The man whisper-yells at me in a worried voice as I realize who it is and what just happened! I’m free! I’m no longer hand-cuffed and it’s all thanks to Kid Flash! IT’S WALLY! IT’S WALLY WEST! “Wally!” I say a little too loud as he helps me to my feet. Wally looks taken aback from my comment as confusion streaks across his face for only a moment.
Finally I register the sounds of... fighting... coming from the main living space in the next room, the main room. We were in the hallway where the next turn off leads to the room I’d been in only three times. It held The Watchtower’s couches, monitors and even the teleports. Grunts, rushes of air and fists meeting fists can be heard loudly even from this distance. There’s something going on. I’d never seen Wally here before!
I watch over his shoulder as a blur of green, orange and yellow are thrust through the entrance to the main living quarters into the wall of this corridor. As rubble flies and lands close by I wince, cowering as I gasp. Quickly standing back up, looking over Wally’s shoulder to see if the person is okay I’m met with a red-clad figure who briefly glances at us and back to the man who’d just crashed into the wall. It’s The Flash...? But even from the dark, as well as this angle I can already tell it isn’t Barry. I’ve spoken to Barry and this isn’t Barry... who is this? There’s another Flash? “You need to take her and go! I’ll distract”
My eyes widen as I realize what he’s said but it’s too late, we’re already running. Well, he is. I am not. As we make our way to the entrance from the corridor to the main room I feel myself being dropped. “Oww....” I say reactively, the fall not really having hurt. “Wally!” I turn to see Wally grimacing, his face frozen in a scream as he clutches his head in his hands. What the hell is going on? I look every which way to try and find the source of Wally’s pain but can’t find it as when I turn around I’m met with green balls of light, streaks of lighting, flying, bodies, arrows and sounds from every direction.
Looking between the fights I finally stop to stare at the only people in the room not moving. One is surrounded by a dark purple, almost black circle of.... I have no idea. The other meets my gaze as he starts to run over to me. I start to panic as I think he’s going to rush me until I realize who it is. The symbol- the jacket- the boots- the.... this is... it’s him. It’s Jason Todd.
For the second time in less than ten minutes I grab the out-stretched hand and am hauled up quickly to my feet as Jason grabs my hand tightly, starting to run. “HEY!” I try to turn and look at who yelled but am drug away as Jason starts to run faster. I gasp as I realize what’s going on.
I can’t tell who is who or what is going on specifically but I know what’s happening. He’s breaking me out. I gasp as I realize this, trying to see specifically what is going on around me. “OW!” I stop running, my arm being tugged hard as Jason realizes I stopped. “Come on! Hurry!” In a swift movement I hardly process, he swipes his arm under my legs and continues running.
Reaching who I know recognize as Raven we’re instantly engulfed and closed into a bubble of, well, raven. Shutting my eyes I feel my chest tighten and constrict at the pain, making me curl as much as possible in my position, into a ball.
Opening my eyes the bubble fades and we’re in a completely different place. It’s a cluttered apartment I notice before Jason lies me down on the couch. “You’re bleeding” I wince and cry out a small ‘ow’ as Jason’s hand passes over my thigh, where it looks like I was scraped by some sort of weapon. “Sorry,”
“No... it’s okay. I.. I just say ow when something happens, it’s like a reaction- it doesn’t actually hurt.” Jason’s face contorts to one of confusion before he gets up to leave.
“That’s weird...”
“Yeah, well I’m a weird person, so...”
“Raven, help me look for the first aid kit.”
“I could just heal her.”
“Right.... please, if you wouldn’t min-”
“I thought you weren’t supposed to be polite?”  Raven looks back at Jason as he kneels down beside me.
“Uh... well you heard wrong, now, please!” Jason says with a little more urgency as Raven waves her hand over my leg, chanting words I don’t know but would suspect to be Latin. I want to shut my eyes as this honestly is scary... but it’s also so intriguing and foreign that I want to witness if her spell will work or not... Of course it will, what am I saying?
As Raven retracts her hand the cut is healed and completely gone. No scab, no bruise, no scar, nothing. My mouth hangs ajar before I realize what’s just happened. “T-than-thank you.” I try my best to smile but am utterly terrified. SHE COULD FUCKING KILL ME IF SHE WANTED, RIGHT. FUCKING. NOW!!!
A foreign feeling washes over me which I would’ve only imagined is how someone feels before they pass out, and concluding from the blackness at the rims of my eyes I’d say I was riiiigggghhhh.....
My eyes roll behind my eyelids as I try to wake myself up. I feel an ache in the left of my neck as my hand comes up to try and rub it... groaning out I try to sit up but can’t. Falling back against the couch I finally gather the courage to open my eyes and sit up at once. The first thing I see is green. Bright green. A green boy... a green, boy? What? My face contorts into one of concern, fear and confusion, the look stays on my face even as I recognize the culprit as Beast Boy. I can’t scream but the hum I realize continuously rises in volume as he doesn’t move away from the few inches separating our faces.
“Beast Boy, what the hell?! I told you to get away from her for exactly this sort of purpose!”
“Yeah man, what the hell?”
“Come on....”
Multiple responses are heard throughout the room as Beast Boy jumps off the couch, moving away from me to sit on an armchair across the room. Taking a deep breath I furrow my brows, a tad scared from earlier, not to mention I don’t even know who else is in the room.
Turning to the voices I swallow thickly, a mental lump stuck in my throat. My lips draw into a tight line as I try not to smile, freak out because of excitement or grimace and frown. “How’re you feeling?” Jason sets down his drink and walks over, crouching next to me as he places a hand on my shoulder.
“Aww, who knew he could be so caring?” I try not to laugh at someone’s quiet comment as Jason looks intently into my eyes, seeming to try and find a gestural answer or sign.
“I... I’m... I’m fine.” I can’t help the growing smile on my face as I look at him. Quickly averting my eyes I look up at the ceiling, then to the window in front of me, then to bed which is to my left.
“Alright, well...?” I continue staring at the bed as I lie my head on the back of the couch, finally able to relax. After a few moments Jason continues, “I don’t know your name... Woul-”
“It’s Y/N.” I finally turn to take another glance at him, worried that this won’t last. Worried that I won’t see him again, that I’ll wake up or this whole ‘thing’ will be over. His eyes are not blue like everyone says... well, some say they’re green, too... but they’re not either. His eyes are more of a grey than blue. They’re like the sky right as it’s turning into a thunder storm, the deep sea as it’s tossed about during a terrible storm in which you’d be worried about your boat sinking and yourself drowning... drowning like I am into his eyes. His eyes are deep, like an ocean, like the sky... you’ll never find exactly what you’re looking for and it hides the emotions he clearly doesn’t want you to see. I’ve only known him for a moment of my short life but I already know of the things he doesn’t want me to see.
“I’m Jason... Jason T-”
“Todd.... I know.” I state out of habit, quickly realizing my mistake, turning my head away in embarrassment. He’s practically like a celebrity! I don’t know him! If I said I do then that’s weird! He’s gonna think I’m weird, he’s gonna think I’m-
“How do you know, Y/N?” He’s turning my face back towards him as he searches my eyes, my soul. “Y/N, I need you to tell us what happened. I need you to tell us how you got here and why the Justice League took you and didn’t let you go?” Now I’m the one searching for answers before I turn to look at the rest of the people slowly gathering around.
“How do you...” I trail off until I find one of them. “It’s because of you. You told.... You know what he said would happen, right?!” I feel a burning sensation behind my eyes as I know tears are starting to build up. “Why? Why would you?”
The kryptonian remained quiet, head sunken to the ground. “Kara, why?!”
“I... I couldn’t let him do that Y/N. He can’t do that! It’s not right to keep someone from their soulmate and Jason deserved to at least know.”
“How do you know her name?” a voice emerges out of the crowd but I don’t bother to find it’s owner.
“Because.... because I know all of you.”
“Y/N, how?” Jason crouches enough to look into my eyes as everyone’s now standing. Jason grabs a hold of my hand, holding it tenderly.
“It’s a long story,” I sigh, looking back to the ground as I hope they won’t make me do the same thing Batman did... for months!
“We’ve got time. Please, sit down and tell us...” I hear a soft voice say as they approach, making me look up. I freeze. My brows twitch and I let out shaky breaths through my nose as I smile. I bite my lip and return my face to a scowl as I look away.
“Fine” I sit down on the couch as Jason sits next to me, still holding my hand.
“Would you like anything to drink? Or eat? We have pizza.” The same man suggests as I say ‘yes’ to everything... as ‘it’d be nice’.
“Batman... The Justice League, they already made me tell them everything. I already did and they made me go through everything again and again and write down and draw out everything I knew. Please don’t make me do the same. I’ll make it short but I’ll tell you everything.” I take a deep breath before I continue.
“First of all, to make things clear, I’m from a universe where all of you exist, the only difference is... you guys are all comic book characters.... you have comic books here, right?” I ask doubtingly. Everyone nods and I continue. “So yeah, I know who you are.”
“How I got here... I’m not exactly sure... I woke up in the middle of a clearing within the forest. It was dark, it was pouring down rain as there was a thunderstorm going on. I was soaking wet in my pajamas as the last thing I remember was falling asleep. When I woke up I scared scared, there was thunder and the lightning was close by. Seconds would pass as the lightning got closer and closer and I could hardly see anything. Lighting was the only thing that allowed me to see where I was going. I heard the motors coming... probably from the Batmobile now that I think of it, and I ran. I ran as fast as I could through the woods, tripping, getting cut, running as fast as I could because I was terrified. I didn’t know where the hell I was or what I was doing out in the woods. There are no woods near my house so I was confused and scared and I hate the dark. Eventually I was surrounded by the League... later they told me that it was because there was a energy shift at that location... which was their reason for searching, as well as a heat signature, me, that they were looking for.... The reason why they wouldn’t let me go is because I knew about all of you... about this universe, about the others... they wanted to know EVERYTHING, so yeah... they also said that if anyone else got their hands on me then it’d be catastrophic, so... yeah.”
“I mean honestly they said they’d let me go eventually but I don’t know if I believe that... They were trying to find a way to get me home but something stopped them and I don’t know what. Once they found the tattoo then they stopped. They said it had to be no coincidence that I showed up, adapted to a universe which HAS soulmates and got the tattoo.”
“In my universe we unfortunately don’t have soulmates... nothing. It couldn’t have been random that I just show up and randomly get a tattoo with Jason’s name on me... so I think they were testing... they were trying to figure out how it happened. How I adapted.” Eventually I end that part of the story and get to the fun part. Batman had me do the same thing in The Watchtower... tell everyone what I knew about them... also remembering to state that just because I know this doesn’t mean it’s true.
I go across the room, pointing to each person and naming everything I knew about them, their quirks, personality, previous and all relationships- let’s just say Starfire’s was a little awkward for everyone in the room- and their known likes and dislikes and my personal favorite fact about them. “Damian Wayne Al-Ghul... Robin, was to-be the heir of The League Of Assassins-”
“was?” Damian asks from the ground, his harsh green eyes seeming to pour into my soul, judging them.
“Well... depending on the universe and if the League still exists then yeah... once Ra’s Al-Ghul dies then you’d be the... head? The Leader? Definitely not King but... yeah. You get my point.” Damian seems to approve as he nods, encouraging me to continue.
“... Personal favorite ‘fact’.... is that you’re supposedly really caring, sweet and thoughtful to the ones you care about” I smile as Damian seems to try and shrink away, not liking this thought and trying to push it off as a false as they were, only headcanons.... which I had to explain earlier.
“Timothy Drake... Robin, Red Robin, Joker, JJ and... yeah, that’s it.”
“JOKER?!” Everyone shouted incredulously.
“Okay... thank god we’re not in that universe.” I sigh, letting my head roll back before continuing.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN, JOKER?!” Tim shouts from his position on the floor next to Damian.
“Well... in one universe, when you were Robin you got kidnapped by Harley and the Joker and they turned you into one of them... Joker put some sort of genetic chip in your neck and could make you transform into him... it... it was weird and really didn’t make sense because really? How would you guys not notice a chip in your neck after all those years? Like, what the hell? Also I guess I should’ve known we weren’t in that universe as Jason and Damian are here.”
“What?”
“Yeah... anyways, personal favorite fact.... this is hard to be honest, because you’re the one I know the least about. I’d say it’s probably that... you’re really caring! You can tell by everything that’s happened with Stephanie.”
“Jason Peter Todd... I’d... uh...” I fidget with my hands as I try not to look at Jason in the eyes. “I’d, uh.... rather not say here.”
“What? Why?”
“It’s just.... I really... it’s not anyone else’s business, really.”
“But you could tell us everyone elses’ business?” Damian interjects.
“It’s okay... it’s nothing... nothing they don’t already know... well, maybe not Raven or Beast Boy or the Flash and Kid Flash but still... you can go on.”
“Are you sure?” I swallow, glancing up at him in the eyes, checking to make sure this is what he really wanted.
“Yes.”
“Okay.... but it’s not pretty.”
“Haha, yeah... I’d doubt it.” Jason puts his hand on my thigh, rubbing soothing circles with his thumb.
I clear my throat before continuing... “Jason, Peter, Todd... what can I say about you?” It’s hard to gather all my thoughts with everything I know about him. “You were what some might call a ‘street-rat’, then you got caught trying to steal the Batmobile’s tires so Batman, I don’t know how... took you in. You became Robin but were according to Bruce, the most reckless and he didn’t know whether or not you’d one day become a criminal if you didn’t get a handle of yourself... Honestly it really depends... in some universes you were said to be the one that Bruce loved the most out of all of his sons... but, there’s others where you wouldn’t know because of everything that’d happened.”
“I mean, I already know we’re not in the Arkham Knight universe because you don’t have the ‘J’ on your face, but... yeah... also looking at you and Dick the only reason I knew it was you was because of your outfit... but looking at Dick now I could probably tell because of the hair or eyes. The only reason I mention that is because you don’t have your white streak which everybody loves. Well, I could see why you don’t but everybody loves it so.... yeah... I think there were some universes where you just didn’t have it? I don’t know... but yeah.”
“What did you mean by I didn’t have the ‘J’ on my face?”
I feel my shoulders sag a bit as I get ready to tell him. “Well... in the Arkham Knight universe... when you were taken by the Joker, he didn’t kill you. He tortured you... he still beat you with a crowbar... he, I don’t know... he did a lot... but he took one of those... those thing you burn cows with, a cattle prod? I think that’s what it’s called... and he burned a ‘J’ into your cheek. You hated it, but honestly, even if you had it I wouldn’t. I would’ve told you to try and think of the ‘J’ for Jason instead of Joker. Joker sent Bruce a video of him ‘killing you,’ but he didn’t really. He brainwashed you to hate Bruce and you came back as Arkham Knight, with the help of Scarecrow you guys tried to kill Bruce... and I already know you and Bruce still exist in the same universe so I know we’re not in the Arkham Knight universe. I’m pretty sure you end up killing him, but I’m not sure... I never saw the ending but I know that you reveal yourself to him as alive and become the Red Hood.”
You continue to talk about Jason to longer than you’d talked about anyone else. Eventually you get down to your favorite fact. “Well... okay so somewhere I read it actually changed but I refuse to believe it. It was said that your favorite food is Chili Dogs and honestly, I loved that because I love Chili Dogs too... and besides, who has bread as their favorite food? Like what the hell? That’s just so basic and lame.” You end up making everyone laugh at this, lightening the mood from the darkness you’d spoken of just a few minutes prior.
After everything is said and done everyone besides Dick, Kara and Jason leave.
“Seriously! Send me a text soon.. I wanna know how everything goes, alright?” Jason hugs Roy tight one last time, promising to send him a text soon before he walks back over to join the triangle you, Dick and Kara stand in.
“You know he’ll be after you soon, right?” Dick asks.
“Yeah... I was hoping that maybe we could go somewhere for a while... and if he does come...”
“-Then you can always call me. Or Kara, you’ll help them right?” Dick turns to her.
“Of course! I just want to say I wish you the best of luck and please, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. Jason we can’t let him take her back.”
“Trust me... if there’s one thing I’m doing. I am NOT letting Bruce take her back to that place... trust me.” Jason wraps his arm around you shoulder, making you blush and try not to smile as you’d never had someone do that before.
“Thank you,” you tell Kara, thanking her for her offer and suggestions.
After goodbyes and promises that you’ll meet again and have brunch or some sort of get together with both Kara and Dick, Jason leads you out into the hallway. “Let’s go home.”
“Home?”
“Yeah... and I promise it’s not some sort of cardboard box.” Jason jokes, making you crack a smile as you feel you can’t laugh at his self-decrepitating jokes.
