Now this series is literally what made me buy a kindle in the end. I love the rowan blood books even if the second one after this had me tearing my hair out. It’s the first and only fae book series I’ve read and I don’t think any will ever hold up to this. The characters are to die for and the author does so well with having you root for saffron. I love it so dearly.

i can’t seem to stop overthinking about the little detail that sooho refers to himself as the hyung (형 - older brother) with his same-aged peers (동갑). in korea, age is a huge deal and it dictates most of their social cues, who to respect and how much respect is given. and i can just imagine how arrogant his peers might find him for referring to himself as the hyung, it’s like he acts all high and mighty amongst them.

Prologue.

Elvis would like to argue that both times he's had a child, first with Lisa, his Yisa and then with little Crystal, Lisa's lil Crys-Crys- he hadn't actually planned for them to come when they did. Lisa coming nine months to the day of his and Priscilla's wedding and yours- well yours right after you had just gotten engaged. You could have been married for when she was born but you had put your foot down, telling Elvis that under no uncertain terms were you going to be walking down the aisle with your belly as round as it was in a wedding dress.

Elvis is too engrossed in singing to your daughter to notice much of anything in relation to you waking up and hearing him sing a version of one of your favorite Ella Fitzgerald songs does bring you a bit of joy that you don't want to pop just yet by announcing your awake state. When he stops his hand moves to play with your daughter's hair, taking note of the curls starting to finally grow. The jury was still out on how tight they would be but you were hoping for a potential middle ground between your hair and Elvis's.

You feel your eyes starting to droop soon after but then you hear a light snore coming from Elvis instead of singing. You glance up and a smile crosses your lips, he fell asleep mid-song. You follow soon after and the next time you wake up it's to the first rays of sunlight entering your room casting a light on your future husband and your daughter's face that makes your heart full to bursting.

Maybe a few more minutes of shuteye wouldn't hurt. After all, they'll be there in the morning- the later morning.

Copia - asks if you want to talk about it. if you say yes he’s attentively listening, if you say no he’s fine with that too. either way he wraps you in his arms and rubs your back, humming your favorite song. he knows them all.

Cumulus - immediately awakens with you and before you can even tell her what’s wrong she’s cooing comforting words at you, forehead pressed to yours. offers to bring you something to help you settle down but nothing works as well as being in her arms.

Cirrus - gently but firmly reminds you that it was just a dream, as awful as it was, but it ultimately can’t hurt you. she would never let anything hurt you and she tells you so as she kisses your hands again and again.

Sunshine - like Terzo, tries her best to make you laugh, even a little. she slides her hand under whatever top you’re sleeping in and traces designs on your back in an effort to calm you down and get you back to sleep. when it works, she stays curled up with you.

Aurora - is just as upset as you are - she could feel something was amiss even as you both slept. strokes your cheeks and hair, reminding you that she’s here and that she’s scarier than any nightmare. nothing will get past her.

Swiss - confused when he wakes up and you’re in clear distress but immediately gets wise and pulls you in close with your head resting under his chin. like Copia, will sing softly to you to lull you back into a calm state. works like a charm.

Aether - if you’re in the middle of it, he’s the one to wake you up and ease you out of it. his hands are gentle on you, thumbs brushing your tears away before engulfing you in his big arms.

Rain - is already awake by the time you stir, clearly upset. like Aurora, he could sense something was off. he lays beside you, your fingers tangled in his as he kisses your tears away.

Dewdrop - sleeps like the dead but when he hears a sob from your side of the bed, nothing can keep him from you. holds you tight - almost too tight - but the strength in his wiry arms keeps you grounded.

Mountain - when you wake up from your nightmare, he’s already engulfed you in his embrace. like Copia, asks if you want to talk about it, all while holding you flush against him.

Phantom - positively befuddled when he wakes up and you’re clearly distressed. takes him a moment to get it and as soon as he sees the fear in your eyes, his arms are around you, whispering apologies and comfort against your ear.
