Vanitas who short-circuits anytime you show him genuine affection/care despite the many times he's flirted with you. He tells you he hates it, but in actuality he's just not used to it. Either way, please don't stop.

Olivier who tries not to smoke around you. He knows you dislike it and even if it helps him destress, he'd never indulge in his own pleasures if it meant making you uncomfortable. Never.

Veronica who can't help but 'apologize' ( Not really but she buys you gifts/treats you in various ways with a sour look on her face ) whenever she makes you sad/mad. She doesn't entirely know why, but she gets this strange feeling in her chest whenever she does or says something that makes you even the slightest bit upset. Is it pity? Dare I say, guilt? She can't tell.

Sanemi who always questions you about your wellbeing whenever you chat. He listens intently on everything you say, genuinely wanting to know if you're alright and if you aren't, he'll take you out to wherever you want to go that day. His treat.

Hinatsuru and Shinobu who sits there, smiling fondly, as she listens to you just talk. Talk about your day, raving about how good it went or ranting about how bad it was, just anything you have to say. She'll listens for hours on end, gently reassuring you whenever you pause to apologize for distracting her from her work.

Makio who loves to go out with you whenever you have the time. Whether it'd be going to the hot springs or shopping at the market, she doesn't care as long as you're the one accompanying her.

Basil who occasionally brings you flower bouquets, all of which are hand grown and arranged by himself. He's shy so he won't have the courage to do anything but maybe mutter out a small 'Hope you like it..' before leaving, but he makes the effort to add short, sweet notes to make up for the words he couldn't say to you.

all this work is going to kill you if you don't finish it within this night. it's due in two days which makes it worse, too.

on top of that, you have your boyfriend, SUNNY, sitting next to you as you work on your assignment and presentation. he's sitting quietly, staring at you.

god, you just want to spend time with SUNNY— you're not supposed to be doing your homework!.. then again, should you not had done this three days ago.

it's currently nighttime. the bells of the windchime that SUNNY gifted you is hanging on top of the windowsill, ringing. the curtains dance together in the air as the wind flows, feeling the cool air breezing through the window.

under the dim light of your bedroom, there is the moonlight seeping in, painting the room as if it were an empty canvas.

you look at the open window for a moment, distracted by the stars twinkling at the sky and the bright moon shining through the night as it accompanies its stars.

you shake your head, snapping out of your trance and avert your gaze to the parchment of your unfinished homework, though your mind is no longer focused on the intricate details of the presentation slides at the moment.

your fingers type endlessly as you skimmed at your notes. the information you were holding was overwhelming you. you furrow your eyebrows, immersed in your work.

an uncomfortable feeling rises, feeling someone watching beside you. you turn your head and see SUNNY. oh, right. you forgot he was there the whole time because you're too immersed in your work.

distracted, you stare at his features, his black hair, his ivory skin, his eyepatch and his eyes piercing through your soul. the two of you subconsciously commensed a staring contest without knowing.

you think he does. you noticed that he's been staring at you intently, quietly demanding your attention for quite some time.

it was then that you forgot that you were staring at him the whole time— god, what's with you? you've been acting weird. you shook your head once again and looked at his eyes.

"..i won so, don't i get to hold your hand?" SUNNY spoke. you blinked twice. you neglected your boyfriend for your homework and you feel guilty because of it.

you smiled cheekily, "what're you saying? of course you get to hold my hand." you held your hand out, letting him hold your hand.

without hesitation, SUNNY puts his hand on yours, his slender fingers drawing circles on your skin. his ice cold hands held your palm, squeezing it. his fingertips grazed the back of your hand.

you sighed and set your notes aside. "i'm sorry that i didn't spend time with you that much," you apologized. "i'll make up for the lost time."

SUNNY's cheeks dusted in red. "what about your work?" he mumbled, feeling a little guilty for stopping your work. you shake your head and close your laptop.

"work can wait. you're more important to me anyway." you beamed. you notice your boyfriend's ears were tainted red and smiled to yourself, savouring his reaction.

-he's the tall gentleman, he feels like he needs to be the one to let you lie in his lap like a princess

-it's very refreshing, though

-he's always trying to be the best for everyone around him, so its so relaxing to just have someone else take care of him

-he's probably going to be the one who hops in your lap the least, but it's not a one time thing

-every now and then he'll get super burnt out and he just nervously asks if he can crawl into your lap and have you comfort him

-if you ever offer it, he'll immediately agree

-he's not shy at all and will just chuckle and lie into your lap

-definitely the type to take a nap whenever he gets into your lap because it's such a relaxing change of pace

so when he hides behind you, it truthfully makes your heart jump and you have to play it cool. gotta be tough!

SUNNY doesn't exactly seem the type to enjoy physical affection, but he surprisingly does. sometimes he'll jump or shudder when it's unexpected, though. which is why you always make it known and ask him if it's okay to hug

he finds a lot of comfort in holding hands. it feels safe, reassurance that he won't lose you if you're attached. sometimes you end up dragging each other though, esp if he sees a cool poster and wants to show you it

SUNNY doesn't like to be alone, so it works out perfectly if you're feeling attached. he doesn't mind if you want to drag him around or squeeze him like a build-a-bear, all he asks is that you respect him and his space when he needs it!

he enjoys watching movies together. he might feel really nervous the first time you snuggle up to him, but with all the blankets and pillows and warmth... he eventually melts and probably starts purring like a cat.

random thought but i think he'd secretly love piggybacking on u,,,, it reminds him of his childhood , falling asleep under the warm sun while being carried. of course, he'd offer to carry you as well... but he'd likely crumple to the ground with his weak self

My thoughts were that reader's been getting very invested & skilled at painting recently, & he's made a spectacular portrait of his brother that's incredibly shy to show to him.

Kel

— Kel is like the #1 funnest older brother ever real

— He would love to hear you’re getting into painting and art! He would paint and draw with you, and always ask about it.. he’s pretty involved with all your activities.

— Always asking “any new paintings? any new drawings”, and always responds so positively to them, he truly loves them!

— he’ll compliment you on them and then give you a big hug !

— He would also encourage Sally and Hero to look at them as well :)

— So when you come to Kel, saying that you made a painting of him, he gets WILDLY ecstatic.

— in all honesty he would probably cry happy tears, so happy that you like him THAT much that you would paint him.

Laios

— Laios is literally bouncing off the walls when you tell him you’re into painting. He’s super mega uber x100 excited.

— “THATS SOOOOO COOL”

— He would marvel over your paintings like no other, just admiring them!

— For the next few weeks, you’re working on a particular painting, and are very strict when you say Laois CAN’T see.

— He’ll just say, “Okay…”

— Until one day, you nervously blindfold him and take his hand into your room. You’re very nervous, but Laios’s goofy smile and excited laughs put you much more at ease.

— “1,2,3..” you untie the blindfold and Laios squeals and smiles, rushing over to the painting of him, in his armor.

— He starts talking about how much he loves it, straight up ranting, he says he loves you, and hugs you, multiple times!

— He’d show Falin and would be shaking her, saying: “THAT’S ME!!! ME!!!”

SUNNY

depending on how big the dog is, he’s initially startled at first. he just stares at it with those black void eyes of his, unsure what to do. the dog doesn’t have a collar so he isn’t sure if it really belonged to anyone.

he for sure can’t and doesn’t want to keep it, he’s more of a cat person. speaking of a cat, he already has a pet cat back at home waiting for him, why would he get a random dog if he already has a pet?

so even if he doesn’t adopt it, if he sees it again, he’s gonna give it some affecting like rubbing its head then leave. he’s not a monster!

AUBREY

she’s unsure what to do at first, she might walk past it but pets it before she does but you didn’t hear it from me. i can’t really see her as a dog person, maybe with a small dog probably.

just like SUNNY, she already has a pet at home, and especially with the terrible condition her home is in, bringing a dog in wouldn’t help. besides i don’t think her mom would enjoy another animal in the house.

she’ll sometimes feed it if she spots it again, considering that if it doesn’t have a home, it must go hungry or thirst almost all day. i like to think she has a soft spot for animals.

KEL

he’s definitely gonna play with it. he sees a dog, immediately goes to play with it. he loves dogs! it’s a big breed? he doesn’t care! it’s a small breed? also doesn’t care! big dog person, this guy.

unlike the other two, he actually tries to take it home and beg his parents for another dog. HECTOR needs another dog friend after all! of course his parents say no, much to his disappointment.

that’s not gonna stop him though! he’s definitely feeding it, walking it whenever he walks HECTOR as well, and plays with both dogs at the park or just outside his house. nothing can stop that man from befriending dogs!

BASIL

again, depending if it’s a big dog or not, he too will also be startled. he’s more nervous, as he doesn’t seem like a dog person. he’ll just say hi to it then walk away. awkward guy.

he’d love to take care of something like he does with plants, but he’d rather have something more.. introverted or something like that.

either way, eventually the more times he sees that dog, the more open he gets with it. after a while of realizing it probably wont bite and doesn’t have rabies, he would pet it and give it the affection it deserves.

HERO

the most reasonable one, he would immediately ask around if anyone as lost their dog. if they haven’t well.. that’s awkward. he can’t take it home and care for it, his parents wouldn’t let him because they already have a dog, but he can’t just leave it roaming it around the streets!

after making sure it has no rabies and intentions to bite him, he immediately goes home and probably gives it a bowl of dog food they give to HECTOR like the nice guy he is. he would keep it some company before he has to go, as he’s a busy man.

legally it’s not his dog, but in a way it is at the same time. whenever he visits his hometown, he makes sure the dogs doing alright and feeds it. even if he can’t bring it back home, he’ll still take care of it.

MARI

she would never just walk away from a random animal in the streets. she may be a cat person, but she’s also a kind individual. another reasonable one, she first makes sure it doesn’t bite before asking around if anyone has a missing dog like the one she found.

if nobody comes forward, then she kind of has no choice but to leave it outside. she can’t bring it back, they already have a cat! another pet would already be too much in the family.

despite this, she’ll take care of it when she has time. she drops by to feed it some food whenever she can. she would never leave a poor animal starving! she also hopes that one day, someone else can take the dog in and give it a nice place to live in.

Any time i fall in love with a new character i call them the love of my life, i had say it so many times that that if i had a coin for every time I've said it right now i'd be rich

Sayori

It doesn't take long for Sayori to take a liking on people and become pretty clingy and affectionate, but to fully trust them as to show her real self it actually tooks a long time, so even when she openly shows her love sometimes is more motivated for the anxiety

However, whenever you show her affection and love is something special for her, even the small gestures is a little reminder that you actually care and appreciate her, specially if is after she finally open up to you more with her problems

Even when she is clingy Sayori can be pretty shy, specially to express her love directly with words, so it take a lot from her to say that she loves you even when she is completely sure of her feelings, and if you say it to her she gets wrapped in a overwhelming feel of love

When you tell her that she is the love of your life Sayori stops whatever she is doing for the shock but even so she isn't able to see you at the face, she tries to but is scare to see in your face a mocking expression, somehow she manage to slowly see a glimse of you, it doesn't matter if you seem shy or confident, even a small and sweet smile is enough for her to win the courage she needs to fully see you in the face, at least for a moment

She tries really hard to say something, or even do something but in her mind are racing a lot of different thoughts, between the anxiety and the overwhelming feeling of love, at the end she will just throw herself into your arms before start crying, she even clings to you as if his life depends on it

The thing is that Sayori tend to doubt herself and be overwhelmed for the fear, she even is a pleseant person but you telling her that she is the love of your life gives her a big sense of security as well a feeling of love, that is why she started crying but she will apologize for it later

Sayori grows a little more clingy and affectionate afterwards since that beautiful feeling still wander her chest and she wants to make you feel that way too, she may even try to write you something about it (but since she normally just write about the feelings she can't speak of it will be a little difficult for her)

If you do it as a way to confess your feelings for her her reaction won't be too different, it would be pretty overwhelming for her and she will end up crying in your arms, but in this case she will be more hesitant even asking you if you actually mean what you had say

Monika

Even when Monika seems and act confidence deep down she is a little insecure and perfeccionist, so even when she doesn't have much troubles with expressing her love she wonder if she is "doing it right"

Although she isn't too estrict when it comes to you (or at least tries no to), she just bask in whatever show of affection and love you give to her, small or big gestures she apreciate them nonetheless, also there are moments where she put others before her a little so your affection comfort her

Love is a really beautiful and special word for Monika, she kinda has a big expective of what is love and she is willing to work in making that ilusion come true, mainly for her perfeccionism, but she tries to don't let that side of her affect you or your relasionship. Whenever you express you love for her it fills her with excitment

Even when Monika seems more serious and mature she loves romantic stuff, and even when she finds cheesy stuff a little overstated she still like it, so when you call her the love of your life her heart skip a beat, she looks at you wondering if this isn't just a dream while slowly gets flustered and flattered

Monika knows she loves you with all her being and she can even dare to say that you are all she wanted, but even she didn't thought that you would think so dearly of her, but those simple words show her that you love her a lot too (maybe even with the same intensity), and since she isn't exactly shy she won't have much troubles to say something so cute and special back, although she isn't satisfied with her own answer so she will be thinking for a while in a way to show how much she loves you too

And for a long time the only memory of you saying those words make her feel like in heaven for how much you love her, always bringing a smile and a tiny blush to her cheeks, also it may or may not lead her to be more confidence and start to be more affectionate and teasing

A/N: I AM SOOOOO INCREDIBLY SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG!!! I started this shortly after you requested it but then things happened and I had a little dry spout with Omori and forgot about it completely. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this! ( And again, I am SOOO sorry, love! 😅)

I'd say, based on their level of openness, the ranking of how quickly they'd become comfortable with their significant other would look something like this..

Kel

Mari

Hero

Aubrey

Sunny

Basil

And here's why..

Kel is the type of person who can vibe with anyone as long as they aren't a horrible person. ( Or act like Mikhael. Even then there's a chance. )

I'd say give it maybe a couple weeks? He's never been in any kind of relationship like this one so he may act a little different than usual for a while. Once that's over though, he's pretty much the same eager ball of sunshine! He'll always want to nag them to come out and enjoy the world with him and will do everything in his power to be around them! After all, it's way more fun hanging with them than being at home..

Now this can be up for debate, but I think Mari wouldn't take long at all to grow comfortable with her significant other. In her opinion, communication and trust are key parts to any lasting relationship so she doesn't mind coming to you when she's a little bothered by things. ( Which happens more times than one may think )

I see her taking maybe around a few months ( like three to four ) before completely letting the person in. It's nothing personal, she just wants to gauge their personality and see whether or not this relationship will be able to last.

Now, Mari doesn't act much different when she's comfortable with people. Subtle things do change though. For example, her smile seems more relaxed and she gets less upset when making mistakes around that person. Their presence soothes her and as a result, she's less uptight around them.

For Hero, it really depends on when he got into the relationship. If it was before his relationship with Mari, which is not likely, he's not that much different to Kel. He'll spend a lot time with the person and pretty much tell them anything and everything. If it's after his relationship with Mari, which is more likely, it'll be much different.

You see, Hero has experienced heartbreak in one of the worst possible ways and it'll take time for him to heal. That being said, I really don't see him dating anyone until that happens, but let's say that he does. Realistically, it take quite some time which can vary from a few months to a year to way longer than that.

Now, Hero is still Hero so he'll treat whoever he dates with the kindness and respect that they deserve and will do everything he can to make sure they're happy and healthy, ( both physically and mentally ) however when it comes to verbalizing his own emotions, that's where we hit a nail. Whoever he dates would have to be very patient with him otherwise it may cause him to put even more walls up.

When he's finally comfortable around them, it'll show. He'll start telling them things he wouldn't before and'll even rant to them about his problems occasionally. He'll be way more open with his partner and'll be just a tad bit ( a lot ) more clingy than he used to.

Aubrey is a rather tough cookie. Ever since Mari died and everyone distanced themselves, forcing her to cope with everything alone, she has never truly let her walls down in front of others. And, if someone attempted to break down those walls, she'll grow defensive and even violent towards that person.

How long it would take Aubrey to even be comfortable enough to date someone really depends on the personality. Like, I see her letting her guard down quicker if the person is more kind and patient with her like Mari rather than someone's who's short-tempered or rough around the edges like her.

When Aubrey is comfortable around her significant other, she'll be less afraid to tell them how she feels. She'll vent to them, but because of that, she'll be more shy towards them. Aubrey'll also hold that person in higher regard than others and'll hold them close to her heart. When they scold her, she actually listens and tries to do better. If they're upset, she'll be the first to notice and'll be there to listen to them rant/help them out in any possible way. And, she'll always try to make sure that her little fights and other violent affairs never mesh and disturb the person's daily life. In a way, she sees this relationship as a way to pay them back for putting up with her for so long so she'd pretty much do anything for that person.

Sunny's next and oh boy..

I honestly don't see him indulging in any kind of romance with anyone unless him and that person were like childhood friends—I'm talkin' never leaving each other's side, seen everywhere together type of close childhood friend with someone—and even then, it's hard to imagine post-traumatized him feeling comfortable around anyone besides his former friends, let alone a relationship. But for the sake of this, let's say he does..

I can't put a time limit on how long it'll take him simply because I see it depending on which ending we're talking about. Obviously if we're talking about any of the bad endings, he's pretty much a lost dead cause. He's not going to make any attempt to open up to them and no matter how much they may try, there will always be distance between them. Now, if we're talking about good ending Sunny, the person actually has a chance.

There will be a lot of trial and error simply because Sunny's used to keeping things bottled up. He's not used to being upfront and truthful and he's only used to running away and not facing his problems. That being said, I see the process quickening a bit if the person he's dating is super gentle and patient with him. If they just gave him time, and a tiny push here and there, he'll come around. And when he does, he'd be stuck to them like glue.

I feel like he'd make it known with his body when he's truly comfortable around his partner. Whether his shoulders noticeably slump in their presence or maybe he lets his guard down enough to hold you or lean on you. Just something that'll let the person know that he feels truly safe around them! I see him being sorta touch-hungry and expressing it once he's comfortable with that person by giving them a bunch of hugs and cuddles and such.

And hey, maybe he'll even talk! ( Nah I'm playing BAHAHA- )

Finally, we have our sweet boy Basil. The gardening genius that carries a ginormous bouquet of trauma wherever he goes..

It's easy to say that whether the person was his friend prior to the incident or not, it'll take forever for Basil to truly feel comfortable around them.

If they were his friend prior to the incident, well, it all really depends. Was he close ( closer than he was with the others ) with them before the incident occurred? Did they distance themself from the group like everyone else? Did they stick to him and never let him go? Depending on what the person does all depends on how long it'll take. To me, I definitely feel like Basil would spill everything eventually if the person decided to stick with him when everyone grew apart and, as a result, would become sort of this unhealthy lifeline to Basil. Since they'd be the one he confides in about everything, it would grow to the point that they'd be the one thing keeping him together. He'd be at their mercy, and in a way, they'd be at his and nothing would really change until probably after the truth comes out ( if it were to come out ) and Basil got the proper help he needs.

If they weren't his friend before the incident, good luck. They'd be lucky enough to even get a full conversation from him, much less get him to be their friend and harbor any kind of romantic feelings for them. But let's say that is the case. Let's say that through some stroke of luck they managed to befriend Basil and eventually end up in a relationship with him. The person is going to have to put up with a lot. Basil is a very sensitive person and all it takes is one bad interaction for him to completely shut them out. They'd have to tread very lightly ( but not too lightly; if they don't try enough, the relationship's not getting anywhere ) or else they'll end up back at square one. I see this taking years ( specifically four or more ) and really, I only see him completely growing comfortable with the person after some extensive therapy.

When he's finally, fully comfortable with them, he'll be way more verbal and open. The fear of being rejected/judged would've been less apparent and slowly pushed to the back of his mind. Being with them for so long, ( and having gotten at least some bit of therapy since I literally don't see this happening otherwise ) he's grown to trust them to some extent. He's also grown to love rambling to them about whatever's on his mind. Whether that be about flowers or things much darker. I see him craving their touch and he wouldn't mind asking. ( But not too many times, he's still Basil after all ) I see those two spending so much time together that Polly would see them as an extension of the household. ( She'd fix them dinner every evening and would grow concerned if they didn't show up to get it and say hey to Basil. That's how much they'd be together. )

He sighed — “Yes?” — he shot up a glare at you, frowning, he was busy writing down his essay for school.

“Can we.. play a game, please?” You softly grinned, hoping he’d get off that paper he’s been working on for, I don’t know, maybe two hours?

Sighing once more, SUNNY responded, with frustration, “Fine.”

“Oh–” you didn’t quite think he’d agree so quickly.

Both of you then sat on the couch as you revealed the Pocky box — “Oh, God,” he rolled his eyes, “Kel, right?”

You smirked as if you were a Kel dupe, “Yes, he told me to do it with you,” you nudged his shoulder jokingly as you opened the box, then the packaging, “he told me you’d enjoy the game!”

“I don’t like that [favorite flavor] one,” he blandly stated, quite cruel and direct if you asked me. “Oh, hush!” You took a Pocky stick out; you would get the flavor part and he the bread.

“So…?” he looked at you, begging for instructions of the game with his eyes.

“Okay, so—” that’s a lot of so’s, “—both of us have to slowly bite our way through the Pocky, but, whoever accidentally bites the Pocky off or gets to the middle first, loses.”

“What if we kiss?” he asked; you stayed silent.

You tried your best to suppress a smirk, grin, smile. How could one be so naïve?

“Anyway,” you said — a chuckle let out — as you pointed the Pocky between your mouth and his, again, you had the flavor part, “good game.”

The game started; both of you started nibbling on the Pocky, you looked up at him, but he only looked at his distance in the Pocky.

Then, it broke!

“Dang it– YOU did that!” You pointed at SUNNY, who stared blankly at you, “No,” he mumbled.

“Ugh,” you rolled your eyes, “whatever.” You took another Pocky stick, this time, cruelly and tauntingly, he had the flavor; “You must hate me, don’t you?”

“Hush,” you aligned the stick again, then the game began again. Nibble, nibble, both of you were close to the middle, then–

In just a mere moment, the stick disappeared — you were kissing him!

The kiss, surprisingly (as you thought he’d pull away immediately), lasted for long… long… and long…

“Pweh!” he exclaimed — ouch — as you retorted, “Uhm, excuse me??” Offended you were, how could he say that, to your perfectly lip-glossed lips? :(

“Sorry, sorry,” he wiped his lips, “the Pocky flavor—” but only because his saliva slightly dripped out from his cough, “—I don’t like it, I told you.”

You sighed; well, at least he was honest, “Yeah, whatever.”

You took another Pocky stick; he had the bread part.

Game started, nibbling, the room was quiet. Cold.

But, as an apology, he nibbled quite faster, so he got to the middle first to lose, willingly — “Haha!” you chortled triumphly; he smiled, a rare sight, but you failed to notice.

“I’m good at this game~!” You proudly reveled, reaching down for another stick, but, just then, his hand held yours (the hand you’re using to get the sticks, by the way.)

“Hm?–”

You looked up, but then he leaned in, much further than he planned to; kiss count, number two.

But this time, it was shorter, yet more passionate that the previous one — heartfelt, or maybe it was because he was the one who initiated it?

Nevertheless, he felt, quite strange too. Dear Sister, please help… he prayed in his head, help, help help!!!!

Blood came rushing to your cheeks — mostly his, though, he kept his head down — “Sunn?”

He breathed shallowly, Crap, he thought, “Y-Yeah?”

He kept his head down, his dandruff was showing — no, no, just kidding — embarrassed by what he’d done. You were still in shock from the sudden kiss, that you accidentally stayed silent.

“S-Sorry,” again, he apologized, thinking he caused the tension in the air. (Man, I just wanna hug him so badly)

You exhaled through your nose in relief, “Heyy,” you lifted up his chin, but he averted eye contact, “it’s okay, I’m sorry…”

You cupped his cheeks, then gave him quick, big pecks everywhere on his face, to his dismay, he kept yelling; “Stop!–” mwah, “–you taste like–” mwah, “[the flavor of the Pocky]!!” mwah.

You then stopped the kissing, pouting, “Oh, so you don’t like my kisses?” still cupping his cheeks as you stared right into his soul.

“No, no, I didn’t mean that…” He murmured, leaning into your palms, and caressing the back of them. Still avoiding looking in your eyes, though, even after all those verbs.

Softly, you kissed his forehead, “I love you too~”

He responded to that, but only I knew — “I love you more,” he whispered, or mouthed, but you didn’t hear.
